Tras 52 años de inauguración, el museo Anahuacalli de Diego Rivera sigue conservando la idea original que este quería otorgarle para mostrar a la gente mexicana y turistas la historia prehispánica.

El nombre de Anahuacalli proviene de “Casa Anáhuac o Casa del valle de México” y significa “La casa cerca del agua”, es un museo que se construye por iniciativa de Diego Rivera quien buscaba el reconocimiento de los antepasados a partir de algunas piezas prehispánicas que colecciono a lo largo de su vida. Es un lugar excepcional por su arquitectura, diseño y construcción en piedra volcánica que hace referencia a un teocalli (casa de energía).

Cuenta con tres pisos y 23 salas y un precio de $85 general, adquiere más de 50 mil piezas prehispánicas dentro de una estructura parecida a la de una pirámide donde se encuentran vestigios, murales que Diego Rivera pintó y una exposición temporal que cambia su temática  cada tres meses, el elemento de la piedra volcánica y la estructura del museo llevan al espectador a sentirse dentro de un espacio temporal distinto concibiéndose como parte de la cultura.

thinking about Obsidian speaking simultaneously but with slightly different voices, using both of their mouths, possibly after some future development where Obsidian is able to speak clearly while fused; presumably, their combined mind is able to be focused on a single goal, but the contrasting aspects of their personalities make filtering thought and ideas into actual spoken things tricky.

broadly speaking, the two mouths represent different aspects of the culmuative joint-consciousness of Steven, Pearl, Amethyst, Ruby and Sapphire. The upper mouth usually speaks more slowly and thoughtfully, while the lower one often doesn’t speak words at all, but growls, roars or makes monstery noises, actual words rising out of it like foam drifting on top of water.
It’s not a negative sign. The upper mouth represents active conscious thought, words that get assembled like bricks being put on top of each other. The lower mouth represents impulse, animal consciousness and the more fundamentally feral or hotheaded elements most Gems would prefer to imagine they don’t have at all. Steven’s human nature makes this a bit more volatile.
(as a side note, Obsidian’s fusion bears some design elements of Steven’s corrupted form; while the scars of his temporary personality-death no longer show up on his body as they would for a normal Gem, those scars are still there and manifest in this fusion.
He’s not too broken up about it, eventually. Sometimes healing is about looking at the monster that only shows up in mirrors and accepting: ‘this is me.’)

Chapter 8
INTRODUCTION.
Osee, or Hosea, whose name signifies a saviour, was the first in the order of time among those who are commonly called lesser prophets, because their prophecies are short. He prophesied in the kingdom of Israel, (that is, of the ten tribes) about the same time that Isaias prophesied in the kingdom of Juda. Ch. --- The chronological order is not observed in any edition. The Sept. very from the rest. They place the less before the greater prophets, and read some of the names rather differently, as Prot. do also, though they have nothing but novelty to recommend the change. We shall here specify the Prot. names, (H.) in the order in which these prophets appeared: (C.) 1. Hosea, 2. Amos, 3. Jonah, 4. Micah, 5. Nahum, 6. Joel, 7. Zephaniah, 8. Habakkuk, 9. Obadiah, 10. Haggai, 11. Zechariah, 12. Malachi. H. --- It is not known who collected them into one volume. but the book of Ecclesiasticus (xlix. 12.) speaks of the twelve; and 4 Esd. i. 39. specifies them as they are found in the Sept. Osee, Amos, Micheas, Joel, Abdias, Jonas, Nahum, &c. as in the Vulg. C. --- Many other prophets appeared before these, (W.) but Osee is the first of the sixteen whose works are extant. He must have continued his ministry about eighty-five years, and lived above one hundred and ten, if the first verse speaks of him alone. But some take it to regard the whole collection, and may be added by another hand. C. --- The style of Osee is sententious and very hard to be understood, (S. Jer.) as but little is known of the last kings of Israel, in whose dominions he lived, and to whom he chiefly refers, though he speaks sometimes of Juda, &c. C. --- By taking a wife, and other parables, he shews their criminal conduct and chastisment, and foretells their future deliverance and the benefits to be conferred by Christ. We must observe that the prophets often style the kingdom of the two tribes, Juda, Benjamin, Jerusalem, or the house of David; and that of the ten tribes, Ephraim, Joseph, Samaria, Jezrahel, Bethel, or Bethaven; and often Israel or Jacob till after the captivity of these tribes, when the latter titles refer to Juda, who imitated the virtues of Jacob better than the other kingdom. The Israelites are threatened with destruction for their impiety and idolatry.

Commentary:
Ver. 1. Eagle. It makes a noise like a trumpet. Pliny x. 3. --- Osee denounces judgments on the house of Israel, which, though schismatical, was not entirely abandoned by the Lord. Salmanasar overturned the kingdom, and may be compared to an eagle, as Nabuchodonosor is frequently, Ezechiel xvii. 3. But he is not here meant. C. --- The temple shall be destroyed by him; (S. Jer.) yet not so soon. W. --- Sept. "In their bosom like earth appears, like an eagle," &c. H.
Ver. 2. Know thee. They resemble those to whom our Saviour will reply, Not every one that saith, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mat. vii. 22. C.
Ver. 3. Him. Sept. "they have pursued the enemy." But the former sense is better. H. --- The Assyrians prevailed. S. Jer. --- They carried Israel into captivity, before Juda. v. 9. W.
Ver. 4. They. Jeroboam and Jehu were assured by the prophets that they should reign, yet this was not a sanction of their right. God condemned their ambition and wicked conduct. The successors of Zarharias had still less pretensions to the throne. God permits such things. The people had not consulted him in these changes. C. --- Kings were their own choice. 1 K. xviii. Saul rose by their "error." S. Jer. --- Knew, or approved not. v. 2. Mat. xxv. 12. C. --- Perish. This was the effect, though contrary to their intention. H.
Ver. 5. Calf. The idol is broken in pieces, and carried away by the victorious enemy. Thus does the vanity of such gods appear. Their captivity is therefore often foretold. Jer. xliii. 12. --- Cleansed. The physician is disgusted with the obstinacy of the sick. C. --- How long will Israel resist the Holy Ghost? Acts vii. 51. H.
Ver. 6. Israel. This enhances the crime. Can a people so highly favoured adore the work of an artist? --- Webs, such as appear on a fine day in autumn. S. Jerom's master suggested that this was the sense. Interpreters vary. C. --- Sept. and Th. "is delusive." Sym. &c. "instable;" shebabim. H. --- Some erroneously read v instead of i. "The Lord casts off the calves of heretics, ... and wonders that people should prefer heretical filth before the cleanliness of the Church." S. Jer.
Ver. 7. Whirlwind. They shall be punished for their folly, nor shall they reap any advantage from idols. --- In it, or in Israel. The seed which I have sown yields no fruit. If any come up, the mildew destroys it. Yea, though any should come to perfection, which is impossible, it should be given to strangers. My people perform no acts of religion; or at least they render them useless, by adoring idols. C. --- He speaks in general terms, as few continued faithful. Yet even in the worst of times, seven thousand were found. 3 K. xix. 18. H.
Ver. 8. Vessel. The nations around despised them, after they had applied to the Assyrians, who were looked upon as enemies of all independent states. Israel was not yet in captivity: but this event may be spoken of as if already past.
Ver. 9. Wild ass. It is very jealous of liberty, (Job xi. 12.) and of its females, so that it prevents the young males from becoming its rivals. Pliny viii. 30. Solin xxx. --- If this were true, the species would soon perish. H. --- The Israelites disdained subjection to strangers. They even rejected God, their king; for which reason he abandons them to servitude, in a foreign land. They had run furiously after idols, and had given presents to such lovers.
Ver. 10. Princes. Heb. "king of kings." This proud title was afterwards taken by the monarchs of Babylon and Persia. Israel ceased to pay taxes, having nothing left. They shall cease to be a people. C. --- Sept. "I will receive them, and they shall cease a little to anoint a king and princes." H. --- They had none during the captivity, as they would not consult God before in their appointment. v. 4. He speaks ironically. I will conduct them beyond the Euphrates, where they shall have nothing to pay for some time. C. --- This wretched condition was of long continuance; (Tournemine) though short, if compared with their crimes. H.
Ver. 12. Foreign. Shall I give them laws again to despise? Sept. "I shall write down their number." It will be an easy task, they shall be so diminished. "His laws," &c. (C.) or, "I will describe to him a multitude, and his regulations: The beloved altars have been deemed foreign. S. Jerom's and Grabe's edit. H.
Ver. 13. Egypt, to escape the Assyrian. C. ix. 3. C. --- They have imitated the Egyptian idols. S. Jer. --- Osee had applied to their king for aid. 4 K. xvii. 4.

Back in September 2015, one of my dearest friends back in Boston contacted me about doing invitations for her oldest daughter’s bat mitzvah in November of the following year, for Parashat Lech Lecha.
Maya is a budding artist, and the celebration was going to have an art theme. In March 2016 they sent me a draft of Maya’s design concept (shown right; click to enlarge). It’s always helpful to have a client with such a clear vision of what they’d like to achieve!
I advised that gold lettering was going to be hard to produce: there’s no such thing as metallic ink, so it has to be done with foil stamping, which is pricey for custom text and basically impossible for short-run digital printing. Apart from that detail, I took this concept and turned it directly into a 5.5×8.5″ layout using Adobe InDesign. Rather than use solid color blocks, I incorporated a watercolor texture to soften the overall look and tie in with Maya’s hand-drawn feel. With a little back-and-forth to determine the exact color shades, we were good to go.
I picked an English script font called Bilbo which has been one of my favorites this year — it’s one of the few calligraphic typefaces that offers a set of plain capital letters as well as swash caps, so it can actually be used to set portions of text in ALL CAPS without destroying readability. The Hebrew font I chose to coordinate is called Shmulik CLM, a Unicode font available for free from the Culmus Project repository.
From there, it was easy to concoct a matching 4.25×5.5″ insert for Maya’s “art party” for her friends. For this piece, I used a livelier rainbow palette instead of the green/blue/purple, a more casual font called Bruno JB, and a free clipart photo of a paintbrush and palette to add some dimensionality. I then created two different RSVP cards, one just for the actual bat mitzvah service, and another for recipients invited to both the service and the party.
I also designed custom outer (6×9) and response (A2) envelopes using the same mint-green watercolor background and purple type as on the primary invitation. Lastly, I created a simple folded thank-you note — matching, yet versatile enough that if Maya has any left over, she’ll be able to use them indefinitely. See below for the final designs.

I had all the components printed at VistaPrint, using their glossy postcards for the invitation cards: “oversized” for the primary invitation, “standard” for the party insert, both printed single-sided. For the RSVP cards, I used an uncoated 5.5″ x 4″ flat note card so that they could be written on.
One of the cool bells and whistles that Vistaprint offers on envelope printing is the ability to specify a “personalized security tint” using a custom line of text. Without telling my clients, I ordered the reply envelopes to say “Mazal Tov Maya!” on the inside. They didn’t notice right away, but when they were putting the mailing together, it was a fun surprise!
Anyway, so the big day finally came yesterday, and I am told it went beautifully all around. Mazal tov, Maya! and and may your artistic talents continue to enrich your Jewish adulthood.

Even with the dissatisfaction of his faction he does quick an efficient work. He might not like teenagers and young adults but they do not share the same sentiments. He has an ease with the souls because of his own more immature nature.

Adéntrate a San Ildefonso

El Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso fue fundado durante el virreinato, con el propósito de que los jesuitas brindaran educación en la Nueva España. Sin embargo, fueron expulsados dos siglos después. Posteriormente este espacio albergó a la Escuela Nacional Preparatoria, lo que significó continuar con la formación de intelectuales en sus aulas. Actualmente esta edificación es ocupada como museo, el cual alberga exposiciones temporales.
Dicho recinto posee una arquitectura barroca, que cuenta con tres niveles y tres patios, aunque los dos que se encuentran al inicio del recinto son más pequeños que el del interior. Las escaleras están adornadas con murales y vitrales, como el del escudo de la de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

En toda esta edificación se encuentran diferentes salas, una de ellas es denominada “El Generalito”. Este espacio fue utilizado como un recinto para que los jesuitas pudieran brindar conocimientos. El salón cuenta con asientos de madera con una cabecera y figuras talladas de este mismo material.

Actualmente en este espacio se encuentra la obra de Gabriela Gutierrez llamada “Desplazamiento del límite; una especulación sobre las políticas del cuerpo” y “El Che: Una odisea africana”, en donde se pueden observar fotografías del acervo del Centro de Estudios Che Guevara.
El museo se encuentra en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México y abre de martes a domingo de 10:00 a.m a 6:00 p.m.

Museo Nacional de las Intervenciones

Con un espectacular jardín el Ex Convento de Churubusco está muy ligado a las intervenciones extranjeras en México, pues desde la primera sala existen artículos que representan la histórica guerra entre los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica y México en 1847.

Por otra parte, no sólo se muestra el conflicto bélico que existió entre los estadounidense sino que también incluye la intervención francesa con pinturas de los personajes más representativos. La información ofrecida en dicho museo es fácil de digerir y está sintetizada a la perfección.

Finalmente, el museo cuenta con salas en las que se puede interactuar de forma virtual para observar contenido audiovisual para que así se comprenda mejor lo que se ha viso en las salas anteriores y maquetas que ilustran los puntos geográficos clave de cada una de las batallas de intervención.
El museo está abierto de martes a domingo, en un horario de 9 a 16 horas. El costo al publico general es de $70; los  Maestros, estudiantes, niños menores de 13 años e INAPAM y días domingo: entrada libre.

MUAC: Una visión diferente

Colores brillantes, videos impactantes, sonidos que tienen la habilidad de cambiar tu perspectiva del mundo, una reproducción de un misil mortal y la historia de un pasado que no se debe olvidar… Son algunos de los elementos que puedes encontrar en las cuatro exposiciones que actualmente se presentan en el Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC).
Cevdet Erek. Una relación de larga distancia
Esta exposición potencializa el sentido auditivo al transmitir diferentes sonidos que, al mismo tiempo, se convierten en una partitura visual. Las voces femeninas contando una secuencia de números que al final terminan para iniciar una y otra vez, envolverán al escucha en un ambiente fuera de lo común.
Yoshua Okón. Colateral, no es apta para todo público, pues en ella el artista plasma investigaciones que parecieran ajenas a la vida cotidiana. Aborda temas raciales y culturales desde la perspectiva de grupos sociales específicos y muestra la cruda realidad de ciertos conflictos. Lo más atrayente de esta exposición es que el artista no niega los hechos, sino que los visibiliza, en algunas ocasiones, con situaciones grotescas pero totalmente verdaderas.

Forensic Architecture
Fascinante y horripilante, son las palabras exactas para describir esta sala. En ella hay guerras, proyecciones escalofriantes y acciones que sólo el hombre puede llevar a cabo. Como su nombre lo enuncia, la agencia de investigación Forensic Architecture (FA), utiliza la arquitectura para mostrar y detallar los hechos. Su muestra principal es sobre los 43 estudiantes desaparecidos de Ayotzinapa.

La monocromía del azul en objetos resalta a la vista no porque los objetos sean desconocidos, sino más bien porque la intensidad del color evoca sentimientos y pensamientos nuevos en la mente. El azul se convierte en un color en movimiento, un color que exige contemplación y sobre todo un color que no podrás dejar de mirar.

Información sobre el museo
Los miércoles y domingos la entrada al público en general es de $20 y para los estudiantes aplican 2x1, por lo que estos dos días son ideales para visitar el recinto. No obstante, en los demás días existe un 50% de descuento con credencial vigente a estudiantes, maestros, UNAM, INAPAM, jubilados (ISSSTE e IMSS).
*Para el público en general la entrada tiene un costo de $40, pero la entrada es libre para menores de 12 años, personas en sillas de ruedas y su acompañante, y miembros de ICOM, AMPROM y CIMAM.

La vida después del Museo del Chocolate

En un rinconcito de la Ciudad de México, exactamente en la calle Milán número 45, Colonia Juárez, se encuentra un museo que no solo alberga cultura e historia, además contiene arte, sabores, olores y experiencias únicas. Ese es el Museo del Chocolate o MUCHO para los vecinos de los alrededores.

Ubicado en una preciosa casa de 1909, con una arquitectura afrancesada, propia de aquella época, el recinto abre sus puertas a un ambiente elegante y acogedor. Llegar ahí no es complicado, basta con abordar la línea uno del Metrobus, esa que recorre la Avenida Insurgentes. La estación es Hamburgo, la cual queda a cuatro cuadras de dicho lugar.
El MUCHO es un museo en el que todo el público puede deleitarse, puesto que en sus salas se muestra la relación que existe entre México y el chocolate. La sala uno, la cual está dedicada a explicar qué es el chocolate. Daniel Hernández, historiador y guía de MUCHO, asegura que la palabra chocolate proviene del náhuatl xocolātl, que significa ‘agua amarga’.

En la sala dos del museo, se detalla la historia del chocolate a través de pancartas, las cuales con ayuda de imágenes y texto, van detallando cronológicamente cómo es que este alimento se ha ido consolidando como uno de los más importantes en México. 
Entrar a la sala tres del Museo del Chocolate, es entrar a Tabasco, específicamente a la zona de  cultivo del cacao. Una simulación de las hojas de los árboles del cacao, rozan la cabeza de una persona cuya  estatura rebasa un poco el promedio de la de un mexicano. Imitar el ambiente del lugar  que ve nacer a estas plantas, sin duda ayuda a que las personas que no se dedican a cultivar puedan darse una idea de lo que significa estar al pie de uno de esos grandes árboles.

La sala número cuatro de éste exhibe las calidades del chocolate y resalta los tipos que existen en el mercado como:
-Chocolate negro: Contiene alto porcentaje de pasta de cacao; cuanto mayor es, más amargo resulta ser el chocolate.
-Chocolate cobertura: Es idóneo para ser fundido. Su alto contenido en manteca de cacao hace que su aspecto sea liso y brillante. 
Sólo por mencionar algunos.

Es recomendable visitar el museo para que una vez terminada la travesía, leer la palabra ‘chocolate’ se convierta en algo diferente. En el imaginario ya no sólo se trata de un alimento más. La visión cambia respecto a este manjar y al mencionar ‘chocolate’, las palabras subsecuentes son;  cultura, gastronomía, historia, salud,  economía, trabajo, cacao, pero sobretodo: México.
El museo abre de lunes a domingo, de 11 am a 5 pm horas.

El smartphone, el ideal compañero de vida

En la llamada era de la digitalización el uso del teléfono celular se ha convertido en algo indispensable en la vida cotidiana. Los papás lo utilizan como el medio para mantenerse al tanto de sus hijos, mientras que, para los jóvenes se convirtió casi en “su vida”, pues es ahí donde almacenan fotos, documentos, imágenes, aplicaciones y contactos.
En los últimos años el mercado de smartphones en México ha crecido considerablemente con la llegada de nuevas marcas como Huawei, HTC y ZTE. Por esta razón las empresas han apostado por equipos que pertenecen al grupo de gama media. Un claro ejemplo es Motorola que junto con Lenovo han logrado ofrecer celulares equilibrados en calidad-precio. 
Es por ello que cada vez más la oferta en gama media aumenta. Tal es el caso de la compañía Obi Worldphone que lanzó su línea de smartphones, en la que destaca el MV1, un celular que presume tener un diseño novedoso con tecnología de primer nivel, a un precio asequible para el consumidor mexicano, en especial para los jóvenes profesionales.
El MV1 cuenta con una pantalla de 5′’ y una resolución de alta definición (1280 x 720),  un procesador Snapdragon 212 de Qualcomm de cuatro núcleos de 1.3 GHz, y una cámara principal de 8 megapíxeles. Lo mejor de este smartphone podría ser su accesibilidad para tener dos tarjetas micro-SIM, así como la capacidad de memoria, que puede expandirse hasta 64 GB.

Sin embargo, aún hay personas que prefieren consumir marcas nacionales. Adrián Flores, estudiante de comunicación de la UNAM, es una de ellas. En entrevista exclusiva para CULMUS mencionó que prefería consumir marcas como Lanix, ya que era una manera de apoyar la economía nacional.
Asimismo expresó que,  aunque el MV1 ofrece buenas características a bajo costo, el comprar un celular depende en gran parte de las necesidades de la persona. Por ejemplo, él compraría un iPhone sólo para editar y realizar videos.
Los gustos y necesidades cambian, y por ello el mercado cubre la mayoría de estas demandas. Lo mejor es consultar antes de adquirir un nuevo equipo las ventajas y desventajas de éste, y disfrutar al máximo la experiencia de tener un smartphone, pues sigue siendo el ideal compañero de vida.
