Cases and Dates
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ryan Wolfe x Female!reader
Characters: Ryan Wolfe, Female!reader, Walter Simmons, Jesse Cardoza, Natalie Boavista
Warnings: Fluff, angst for others, pining, idiots having crushes on one another, mentions of movies, character death, walter being readers bestie, this came to me while watching the episode for like the millionth time, reader is kinda quirky, ryan flirts but doesn't expect results
Word Count: 694
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You walk in, tugging at the collar of your lab coat. “I miss anything fun?”
Ryan lifts his head, smirking. “It’s never fun without you around.”
You roll your eyes and turn to Walter. “Anything I can help you with my giant friend?”
“You know just because I’m tall, doesn’t mean I deserve to be called a giant.”
You shake your head, “it’s not entirely because of that.”
“Then what is it?”
You tilt your head, “you remind me of the iron giant. You know, you’re taller than us but you're the gentlest and always curious.”
“Damn, now I can’t stay mad at you.”
You raise your hand to high five him. “I knew it, nobody can stay mad at me for long.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Walter rolls his eyes.
“What about me?” asks Ryan.
You hum, turning to face him.
“What character do I remind you of?”
“Gollum,” you say with no hesitation.
His jaw drops to the floor.
Walter can’t help himself and does little to hide his amusement. “Damn, that’s cold.”
You smile and walk over towards him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. “I mean it in the nicest way.”
You rest your head on his shoulder. “You know you’re my favorite.” You peck his cheek before walking to the table behind them to start taking samples with warm cheeks.
Walter nudges his friend’s arm and gestures his head in your direction, mouthing, “as her out.”
Ryan shakes his head and responds, “no.”
You lift the sample, wondering if you’re seeing the right thing. “Hey guys.” You misstep and shake your head before stepping closer.
“Are you-” Ryan tries to ask but fails as he starts to feel the effects.
You set the plastic tray down and hold onto the edge of the table, staring out of the room to find a focus point when the others outside begin to fall too.
Walter is the first of you three to fall, Ryan tries to keep himself balanced but is unable to when he sees you start to lose your grip. He reaches for you and pulls you into him, giving you a cushion.
You open your eyes when the sensation of the warmth under you begins squirming.
“Look who decided to wake up, glad you decided to join us.”
You want to kick him but still feel as if your whole body is lagging. “Shut up.”
You push yourself up and find Ryan curled up behind your arm. “What the-”
Natalie crying out for Jesse sends you into a tailspin.
“What the hell happened?” You ask out loud, not expecting to get an answer.
-
After solving the case and consoling Natalie, you’re drained.
The end of the week could not have come any sooner.
You pinch the bridge of your nose and release a big sigh.
“You done for the day?”
You lightly shake your head, “just about. What about you?”
He shrugs, “heading out as soon as I change.”
“I’ll leave you to it.”
“Hey, uh-” he hesitates.
“What’s up?”
“Are you- uh-” Ryan hesitates.
“You, okay? Do you smell toast?”
He cracks a smile, knowing your only asking so he’ll stop overthinking. “I- Do you want to go out?” He turns towards his locker, pulling out his bag. “With me, I mean.”
“Ryan Wolfe, are you asking little ol’ me out?”
“When you phrase it like that it makes me not want to.”
“Oh, shut up… but yes.”
“Re- really?” He asks, surprised by your answer. He kind of thought you were just flirting with him for fun, and it wouldn’t really go anywhere.
“Yes, you dork. I’ll go out with you.” You grab your bag and knock it against his. “Where are we going?”
He slams his locker shut, “somewhere you’d like.”
“Very vague of you. Should I be worried? Is this gonna be a meet and murder rather than a meet cute date?”
“It wouldn’t be the wisest move if I killed you considering our profession.”
You shrug, “that’s why it’d be one for the books.”
“Let’s get going before I become more concerned about your thought process.”
You nod, “good idea.”

After much deliberation, I have realized that I don't need so many "who is your divine father" tests? but rather, a test like "which god would your character be paired with?" because I like to add demigod children to the mix and do crossovers. For example, a typical Cullen-comes-back-years-later fic… if Bella had had some demigod child, who would she be with? The truth is that it depends a lot on each person's favorite god and their version of Bella. In the case of Marvel, it would be fun if it wasn't Tony Stark, but Pepper who had a demigod son. I'd lean towards Poseidon, because it would be fun if the Avengers expected a mini-duplicate Potts and he turned out to be a sarcastic, problematic boy or girl. And what about 911, which I have also thought about a lot? Sure, it was most likely Buck who had a little mongrel running around, (I have some ideas with an Iris daughter, or a fem-Percy Jackson) but it is canon that Kayla Knowles is Apollo's daughter and has a father mortal. An older, adult daughter of Bobby's would also be interesting. Maybe Athena, or, I don't know why, Demeter I do have an idea of a daughter of Demeter with Kyle Harmon, the son of Horatio Caine from CSI Miami Or a demigod in Teen Wolf. I have a lot of ideas about demigods here and you can ask me: -A daughter of Hades with Victoria Argent, Anastasia Argent, good relationship with the family, Chris knows that she is not her daughter but he loves her just the same, small that she pretends to be macabre but she is adorable. -Twin sons of Apollo and Braeden -A daughter of Ares and Kate Argent, fierce, stubborn, who hates her mother very much. -A little girl also from Kate, daughter of Zeus, Sapphire, younger than Allison, somewhat shy, sweet, but very mature -Cora returns to Beacon Hills with a wolf cub, her two-year-old daughter Eliana, daughter of Apollo. -A daughter of Athena, Olivia McCall, daughter of Rafael McCall

25th Year Of Fic Writing Anniversary Prompt-A-Thon!
You read that right, folks. 2023 is not only 25 years after I graduated high school, but it's also 25 years since I started writing fanfic (I typically celebrate July 15th as my anniversary). And I'm doing a rest of the year celebration for it!
Basically, give me a ship/fandom, a color, and a number between 1 and 25 and I will go into my inbox and find that number prompt for the ship and write it for you. If I don't have that many for the ship I'll go into my general prompts lists and count down. And I am also opening this to EVERY FANDOM I HAVE EVER WRITTEN. I wrote one drabble years ago that you love? Ask for the same fandom. There's a full list on my AO3 dashboard page of all the fandoms I have published there (please note not all the fandoms have fic, and some are just graphics; some are for art I've done for WIPBB and other challenges, so click the fandom link to double-check I've written it before).
I'm pinning this post so I can keep a running log of what I've written under the cut. I'll also put them in a series on AO3/Tumblr tag called afteriwake's 25th Anniversary Prompt-A-Thon if you want to bookmark that.
I will also be uploading an older fic a day if I can get computer access, just to empty out the folders of old Buffyverse and CSIverse stuff I've got on my laptop that isn't on AO3 yet.

I’m writing fanfic based in florida. What do I need to know?
ohhhh boy okay.
First of all, fuck CSI Miami! I've never seen a show get Florida more wrong. That felt good to get off my chest! Um, we don't all go to the beach all the time. I guess some people do, but I haven't gone since 2020 and up until earlier this year I lived about 10 minutes away from the beach. Also, unless you work right on the water, we wear fucking clothes in grocery stores. I used to work on the island though, and none of the tourists fucking wore clothes in there and it's disgusting and we hated you. Grocery stores are cold and no one wants to see your ass cheeks in the middle of the produce section.
It gets cold in the winter. Not like "haha y'all are weak" cold, it actually gets cold. I worked at Disney for a while and my roommate was from Pennsylvania. "Bring a jacket" I said, "40 degrees feels different here than up north." "Haha! I'm from Pennsylvania!" she replied. The day after she arrived she had to go to the store to get a jacket because "the cold feels different here!" she whined. No shit sherlock!
South Florida, North Florida, Central Florida, and the panhandle are all different places. They should not be treated equally. Think of them not as four different states, but four different countries.
Publix is the only valid place (chain-wise) to buy a sub. Winn Dixie is another grocery store option you can choose. Both lands are vastly different. Winn Dixie is far more laid back, cheaper prices, DO NOT eat their deli food.
Sandhill Cranes will try to murder you far more than alligators ever will. Seriously, if you're scared of alligators, what the fuck are you doing here? Sandhill cranes on the other hand... they will fuck you up. Be scared of them. They write our laws.
It can snow in the northern parts of Florida. Just flurries and it won't stick, but it happens on occasion. I'm talking NORTH Florida though. Not Daytona, fuck that hell hole. Jacksonville and beyond.
I-4 is not that bad tbh I'd drive that all day every day over driving through downtown Jacksonville. I've driven all over Florida and I would take most anywhere over downtown Jacksonville.
We do have some of the worst drivers you will ever see.
People find it "rare" to meet someone who was actually born in Florida. They will ask you a fuckton of questions, like you're an alien from outer space.
You're gonna sweat like a motherfucker. I don't care if you've been outside for 3 seconds, you're sweating.
You're always going over a bridge. ALWAYS.
Bugs own you.
I don't think any of this was helpful. Oops!

What's the character or fandom that first got you into writing fanfic?
Tumblr media
So only Brits of a certain age will know what I am talking about with this.
When I was much younger (probs 8-9 years old) I used to watch this police show with my Grandad called The Bill. I loved it so much, I was obbessed with it, I used to write fanfiction of it - without knowing that's what fanfiction was.
Tumblr media
If we are talking about the first fanfiction I ever wrote and posted?
I was about 17 in Sixth Form when one of my friends told me that I should post my writing on the internet because they liked it so much. He explained about fanfiction.net which was wildly popular at the time.
I was obbessed at the time with Tim Speedle and CSI Miami so the first fanfiction I ever wrote and published online was something I had written about it.

Fic Writer Wrapped- 2024 Edition
How many stories did you complete?
28
What is your total word count for the year?
747,677
What fandoms did you write in this year?
CSI: Miami, Formula 1 RPF, S.C.I.谜案集 | S.C.I. Mystery, 仙剑四 | Chinese Paladin 4, 大理寺少卿游 | White Cat Legend (Live Action), 恨君不似江楼月 | Killer and Healer
Did you write more, less, or roughly about what you expected?
Amount wise, I know I wrote less than previous years, but I also started work this year, so I haven't really had like a whole lot of time to write like I did in the past. Also, my fics have gotten longer so I tend to dedicate more time to the longer oneshots and the multi-chapter fics rather than just cranking out quick prompts and what not
What’s your favorite story of the year?
Oh, I loved all of my fics this year but I think Die Trying takes the cake, just because I've been working on it for almost...7 months and I'm really happy with how it turned out, especially because the little shit wanted to fight me so often when writing
Monster Like Me is also great and was another story that I spent a lot of time on (I rewrote the damn thing three times before I was happy with the final result)...so...yeah. These two are probably my favorite, but like I said, I love all of my fics that I wrote this year
What is your most underappreciated story of the year?
Um...I'd have to say For All Eternity and Curse of the Mermaid. For All Eternity because it's an immortal x demon wuxia/xianxia fic (like who doesn't love a good immortal x demon fic like come on peopl) and Curse of the Mermaid because it only has like 3 kudos and 118 hits. And while I try my best to not focus on numbers/stats, I was really proud of how the fic came out. But then again I also know that the couple that I wrote it for doesn't have as many fans as the main pairing so like...I get it but still.
(Die Trying is also underappreciated but I also know that I literally just posted it like 3 days ago so I'm not gonna freak out about those stats just yet)
Biggest fanfic-related disappointment of 2024?
Um...I guess just the drop in viewership/readership. And comments. Also some of the fics that I thought would do really well didn't do as well as I thought but hey, everyone likes what they like. Can't force people to read something they won't enjoy
Biggest fanfic-related surprise of 2023?
Surprised by how many people enjoyed my F1 fics. Like what the fuck. I wasn't even like super big into F1 and just kind of wanted to try my hand at it, but people were just so nice and receptive and I was just blown away by the response
Something you look forward to working on in 2024?
Definitely look forward to continuing to work on my Killer and Healer rewrite as well as a couple of other multi-chaptered fics for some other non-cdrama fandoms (and write at least 2 more F1 rpf fics)
Tagging: @ahhhnorealnamesallowed @clawbehavior @breitweisergallery @theotherwhybietoldmeso @hyperbolicgrinch
@sunriseverse and anyone else who wants to play

Fandom Tracking: How I Got To Where I Am Today
Because sometimes it is wild to review how I got where I am today because of all the fandoms I have been immersed in. And someone once said, you don't forget fandom - it goes to sleep until it effing wakes up again one random day and oh no, you're back in deep!!! *lmao*
This is long and wordy, so if you do read my journey - thank you! And thank you to those who have influenced my fandoms over the years. So many have been through Tumblr, and I can say I continue to have multiple friends (that I still talk with!!) just from Tumblr because of fandom. And if we don't talk anymore, know that you shaped me, I am grateful for you, and I still care about you. <3
My first fandom was probably Adventures in Odyssey. And the internet proved to really fuel that obsession, especially with the Town of Odyssey website. Interacting with other fans was exhilarating (and pissed off my father because dial-up connection impacted his ability to call home during the day ;)) I believe I got into AIO in 2004 (maybe 2003, but the events of 2004 still ring in my brain that fueled some of my life choices about going into healthcare and nursing).
At almost the same time, I got into CSI:Miami, and then filtered through all of CSI (regular, Miami, NY) (this all happened really off the internet, tho, so it honestly was more of an obsession without the fandom). 2005/2006.
And that was in the early 2000s. I was staying up to watch CSI:Miami at 9/10pm even though I was barely an 8th grader *lmao* And I was a budding fanfiction writer - AIO, CSI:Miami, mary sues everywhere, crossovers left and right (I crossed AIO with CSI:Miami and NY so many times).
But my earliest fandom interaction on Tumblr (which was the typical medium of choice to fuel my trajectory through various fandoms since about 2009/2010) was for Firefly. I don't remember exactly how I got into Firefly—whether it was a combo of my sister mentioning it while we were watching Castle together or Tumblr—but I fell head-over-heels into It. Plus Castle became an obsession (the fanfiction I wrote - oof) - oh Nathan Fillion.
Firefly then led me to Chuck; I've noticed an unending trend of getting to new fandoms by just the actors alone (re: Star Trek). Adam Baldwin led to Zachary Levi.
Chuck (Zach, oh Zach) catapulted me into the Tangled fandom in 2010/2011 (there were so many glorious fanfics, both written and read!!). Tangled became my most-watched movie in theaters (11 times if I remember correctly).
Somewhere amongst the odds and ends of finishing high school and beginning college, I collected all of Prison Break on DVD (what a show). I wouldn't say I was ever "in" the fandom, but I certainly have held that show in my heart for *years*.
A friend in the Tangled fandom began posting Thor-related posts, and I was interested. Went to Thor in 2011 and walked out going, "Who is the sexy villain, and can I have that?!" - fell head-over-heels for Tom Hiddleston.
Hiddles was something else entirely for about three years - the movies I watched, the TV shows I watched, the absolute obsession with magazines and anything I could get my hands on. Bonkers time of my life! I saw The Avengers movie in 2012 twice on opening day (midnight, and then again later that evening). I would say Hiddles did get me into the Marvel universe (cinematic. I have never gotten into the comics).
Now this part is fuzzy. Which came first - the chicken or the egg? Did Hiddles get me to see War Horse, which led me to Benedict Cumberbatch? Or had I already been intrigued by BBC Sherlock? Not sure. Honestly, this time of my life was a blur. Nursing school. Needless to say, I then found Cumberbatch.
Watched all of his filmography (I think I did for Hiddles too), and then Cumberbatch was cast into Star Trek.
Growing up, I had watched some episodes of Enterprise. My sister seemed to enjoy bits and pieces, but I couldn't fully commit.
Well, considering Cumberbatch was cast into the sequel movie from the 2009 hit, I guess I needed to watch the first one.
At first, I kind of hated Chris Pine. No idea. Might have been the cockiness. Plus, I had to watch Star Trek 2009 about a million times to understand the entire plot. I do remember live-streaming ST 2009 for all my tumblr friends while working on care plans in nursing school. Bro, those were the days.
But now that I remember, I fell in love with Chris Pine when Rise of the Guardians came out Thanksgiving 2012. His voice acting was magical. And I was forever smitten.
Thus began the 12-year+ never-ending obsession with Chris Pine. And as we got closer to STID, I fell in love with Star Trek. 2012 changed my world - Star Trek was new worlds, galaxies, and adventures - everything I couldn't even imagine. Granted, I started off with only the new movies, but over the past 12 years, I have successfully watched every single series entirely at least once (I have been a loyal Trekkie of all the new stuff, love it so damn much!). I watched Into Darkness 13 times in theaters (still holds the record. Nothing beats my maternal grandmother and her 17 times seeing Devil Wears Prada, but ya know...)
But the friends I have made and still cherish today just from Star Trek and fandom alone was worth every single painful detail of growth I have had to experience to get to now.
I think I stagnated between 2013 and 2015. School ended, I started my first nursing job, and then in May 2015, I moved to North Dakota. Somewhere in there, I did watch Doctor Who and went to the Doctor Who-themed bar in Portland (so cool!). My first comic con was in - 2014? 2015? I got to see Alan Tudyk, Stephen Amell (my sister liked him a lot), Karl Urban, and a few from the cast of Agents of Shield. What a time to be alive! Also looks like this was the first budding relationship with Powell's Bookstore in Portland (best bookstore on the planet!). I was steady in my love for Star Trek. I likely watched many different tv shows and movies for various actors (Heroes was up there; Almost Human), but Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Tom Hiddleston reigned in my mind.
Cue Christmas. 2015. This orange round droid called BB8 has been all over the merch. I think he is adorable. I believe I had tried to get into Star Wars before, but it never stuck. I grew up watching the original trilogy, but never made the connection on how amazing Star Wars was. (there was also a lot of heat for fans liking both Trek and Wars - which, even now, I still don't get it. They are both so very, very different! I say BOTH, DANG IT!).
So I go to the first possible screening of the Force Awakens I can get. Magic. Pure magic.
Then this - this youthful man takes off the mask. And I'm like "Okay, who the hell are you and when can we get married?" (this was 2015, I wasn't mature - yet).
Oh Adam Driver. He sparked my interest for a short time (I watched a few of his movies after seeing TFA), but for some reason it wasn't meant to be.
I flitted with Star Trek some more - and then we lost Anton Yelchin and my world seemed to topple. I don't know why his death hit me so hard, but I was a wreck when I went to see Beyond, I was a wreck watching any of his beloved films, and in December 2016 I got a second Star Trek tattoo in memory of Anton and a patient I had cared for before moving to Denver.
I found myself getting into Hannibal somewhere in that first year in Denver - 2017 (I also then watched all of Chris Pine's filmography, and... maybe Cumberbatch's? I'm not entirely sure when Hiddleston slipped from my focus. I know sometime after BBC Sherlock ended and Cumberbatch got married I also let him slip from my focus). I know I saw The Last Jedi in theaters, but was so bored that I couldn't connect with Star Wars (yet). (ironically, TLJ is now my favorite ST movie, hands down.)
Things kind of blur again. I cannot for the life of me remember how I got into MacGyver 2016 (of course I had seen the OG, I was there when my father bought the DVD sets, and I can recite the very first episode of the entire series from memory (oh Richard Dean Anderson)). Something, something, maybe it was a tumblr influence? I know I binge-watched S1 & S2 right as S3 started in 2018. I don't know if the connection was between George Eads or Lucas Till (CSI vs X-Men First Class) that likely enticed me - but, well, look at me now. 6+ years strong and I'm still addicted to MacGyver. and Lucas Till.
Leverage happened somewhere in there.
And, of course, the next biggest fandom that fell into my lap actually became - Star Wars & Adam Driver. December 2019. I see TROS. And I see TROS again. And again. And again. I think I saw it around 9 to 10 times in the theaters. (When the pandemic hit and there was a delay in getting the physical copy of the movie, I was so mad. It was the thing keeping me going in that first period of isolation. Oh, and all the Adam Driver movies I was binge-watching, lmao). Needless to say, in December 2019, I fell in love with Star Wars and Adam Driver and literally haven't looked back. Ever.
It's been pretty steady since then. MacGyver, Lucas Till, Star Trek, Chris Pine, Star Wars, Adam Driver.
Until this past week when I finally watched S1E1 of The Legend of Vox Machina. GUYS, I THINK I'M A D&D FAN NOW. I just binge-watched 36 episodes of a masterpiece, I went to Powell's and bought three fucking books, and I'm literally about to start Critical Role; this is exhilarating!! Absolute insanity. That one came out of nowhere (Amazon Prime Video showed a picture sometime in October, and I was like "okay, what is this? Hmmm. I'm interested" - VEX AND PERCY WILL BE THE DEATH OF MEEEEEE!!)
I also cannot forget to mention Lee Pace ended up enthralled in there somewhere (Pushing Daisies! The Fall!!!). And a childhood favorite for life, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Crazy this journey. I'm sure it won't end like this - it will continue to always evolve.
Much love <3

My Introduction!!
Hello! I figured since I'll be posting on here more often then I might as well introduce myself somewhat 🤗
Online I go by a few things, so either Left or Wolfe will do
I'll mostly use this blog to deliver updates on fanfics I'm writing or talk about some of my interests!
Speaking of interests, I have quite a few...
Westerns
I am a huge fan of anything western/cowboy related (considering I own nearly 50!) I enjoy books, tv shows, and films all about the wild west so naturally I'm inclined to talk about it.
A few of my favorites include Laramie (tv show), the Lonesome Dove series (books), Thunder Trail (movie), most of Clint Eastwood's older movies, Magnificent Seven 1998 (tv show), really any of the Shane variations, and a variety of others!
See here my collection:
Tumblr media
CSI
I think everyone has at least one favorite crime show and CSI is definitely mine. I prefer the original one but Miami also has my heart! I'm not too sure I'll speak about this one all too often but if someone does want to talk, feel free to hit me up 😁
The Warriors
I'm sure it's obvious by the state of my account currently that I'm a pretty big fan of this movie. I'll definitely share my thoughts on this one often (especially since I'm currently writing my fic about it) and once again, if you like it and want to talk, I'm here!
Music
Like most people, I'm a pretty big fan of music. I'm not sure if I'll talk about this often but I do want to share some of my favorite artists and bands here!
Tool, A Perfect Circle, Failure, Faith No More, Stone Temple Pilots, Vast, Prick, Hurt, and Soft Cell are some of the ones I have on repeat.
Miscellaneous
There's a few other things I enjoy a lot, but really not enough to warrant an entire section for. I'm an artist (profile pic and banner are my drawings!), as well as a writer, and some other things I like include Transformers, Oz (tv show), and HLVRAI. (And even more, though to a lesser extent, are Due South, Watchmen, Psych, and Watch Dogs)
Anyways, I'm pretty sure this is a decent enough introduction of myself! If you think I'm pretty cool or you want to talk about something I mentioned here feel free! I'm always up to having a nice convo about mutual interests 🥰

Me, writing something entirely different for an entirely different fandom: Yeah, but how about that idea you randomly got while on the bus? :D
So, here it is... *throws plot bunny in there*
~~~
Nick was sure he heard Greg speak several different languages before, hell, he had him mutter things to him in Norwegian and having to translate them later just because it sounded much nicer coming from him. In truth he would find Greg's voice nice even if he was reading the shopping list in some language that wasn't english. That was what led Nick to freeze on the door of the break room while passing, with Greg inside speaking on the phone with... Nick wasn't sure. He sounded pissed anyway. Damn pissed, like "I want to grab you by that stupid collar of yours and shake you until gears in you brain starts working in the right direction, you absolute idiot" kind of pissed. Greg's exact words. The problem, Nick realized a moment later, wasn't that someone managed to anger his boyfriend, it was that said boyfriend was threatening someone in spanish, the one language Nick never heard him speak before. (And yet Greg never asked him to translate when Nick did, that should have made him wonder, but it didn't.) The one language that, coming from Greg's voice suddenly turned way sexier than Nick remembered. And Greg was still threatening someone.
"Get me 'ric. Or put the phone on speaker, don't care." Nick couldn't hear what answer came from the other side, he knew he should move away from the door, but it was the break room, if Greg wanted any privacy he wouldn't stay there in the first place. Technically. "Your boyfriend is an idiot. Yes, I know, I just hoped he would change after a while, How wrong i've been. Yeah... Yeah, he'll get himself killed one of these days and leave us here to weep for his stupid ass." Nick blinked, confused. Greg's tone had turned softer, not threatening anymore, just slightly disappointed, the language turned to a softer accent, different from the thicker one Nick had. "No, I won't miss him." Then he laughed and damn Nick really wanted to know who was on the other side of the line and what they had said to make him laugh. Not that he was jealous. "My God, you're such an idiot, how can Eric love you that much? You know, you're right. For sure your look helps a lot since your survival skills are underground already. Oh... I better go." Greg said quickly, and Nick realized he had turned and noticed him, he was smiling, as always, Nick couldn't help but smile back. "Yeah, yeah... Clean your gun and stop making Eric worry. Stop making me worry too. It would break my heart if something was to happen to you."
After that one time Nick didn't have many chances to hear Greg speak in spanish, he asked him, sometimes when they were alone, but it was nothing more than a couple of sleepy muttered words. He didn't ask him who he had been talking to that day, simply assuming it was some very close friends, probably with a dangerous job that required guns. Until one night Greg slipped in the break room and opened the fridge, stared at the beer bottle someone left there, wondered if he should take it, if he wanted coffee instead or something stronger perhaps. Then he closed the fridge and decided for nothing at all biting his lower lip before looking up and spotting Nick's worried gaze. He moved, shuffled quietly, dragging his feet closer to the man who left his take away food on the table to wrap his arms around Greg the moment he was close enough. "What happened G?" He felt his body almost crumble, his face, his nose pressed against nick's hair, his arms tightening around him, desperate. "Promise you'll clean your gun every night. Promise you'll be careful. So careful. Promise you won't leave me." He didn't answer, he begged quietly, spanish words slipping from his lips in that soft accent he heard that time over the phone. "I loved him once, we were so similar sometimes, we fit like odd puzzle pieces, falling apart and finding each other again and now... Now Tim's gone and all I can think is that next time it could be you." "I promise." Was all Nick could mutter, holding him close. His gun had never been taken care better after that night, checked daily to be sure nothing could happen.
🍉🍓🍒🍍🥝🍐🍈🫐 That should be enough to give you something to chew on. :)
🍉 Do you prefer to write short fics or long fics? Multichaptered works or single ones? Why? I love writing both, but I think I prefer short fics/one-shots in a series. It's just more fun building a universe with little snippets here and there.
🍓 What’s a fic you’ve written you feel is underrated? A lot of my CSIverse stuff that's not about CSI: NY. Back in its heyday, I was a pretty popular Buffyverse author, a prolific and respected Sherlock writer, I got a lot of love when I was into Bleach, and while I don't write as much Wholock anymore it got a decent amount of hits and stuff. But my CSI and CSI: Miami stuff was usually overlooked? IDRK, I've been writing fanfic for nearly 25 years, I could be forgetting the love I got in those fandoms.
🍒 What’s your favorite character dynamic to write? (Can be romantic or platonic, specific or general!) Idiots to lovers.
🍊 Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo…) I keep meaning to write Elementary stuff, but the show was so damn perfect as it was that I can only write missing scene stuff. Sherlock and Joan are just so fascinating, as are Gregson and Bell, but I just can't figure out what to write for them.
🥝 What’s your favorite trope/AO3 tag to write? Trope? Fake dating. AO3 tag? -INSERT CHARACTER- Needs A Hug
🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc… Okay. I am not bashing Sherlock here, not really, but after ending season 3/getting utterly and completely spoiled for season 4, you see the show has a fuckton of flaws making it ripe for fix-it fics. First and foremost there's the travesty of Mary's death, then there's the missing Reichenbach stuff, there's Irene being rescued and conflicting ideas by cast and writers as to what happened then, the mystery surrounding just why Molly was in a bad mood for the phone call, Sally's disappearance for most of S3/all of S4 (we know in real life it was scheduling conflicts, but they never explained it in the show), and Eurus...just Eurus. So it's like, you can pick any point in this show and use that as a starting point for fix-it/missing scene fic that's better than canon. But yeah. That's why I have thousands of Sherlock fic and very few Elementary fic by comparison.
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions. My blorbo has to be Molly Hooper. I write her in so much, with characters from four other mediums as well as multiple male AND female characters in her fandom. I am a strong supporter of the "Molly Hooper is bi" sentiment, that she knows self defence, that she and Sally are friends (if not dating), that she has more money than Sherlock, and that she wants a child at some point (preferably before she's too old to enjoy parenthood).
🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.) In my primary fandom (Sherlock)? There isn't enough crossover stuff. Don't care what it's crossed over with, it's ripe for crossovers.
feel free to ignore this if i am too late but 🥳 for your fanfic writer game?
Never too late babe!
Truthfully I don't know. It's always just something I've done I guess alongside writing my own work.
In the 90s the internet wasn't a massive thing for me so as a kid I had no idea I was writing fanfiction at all. It started with a British police show called the The Bill, then Resident Evil and then moved onto Sailor Moon and then eventually CSI Miami.
I think I was 17 when a friend of mine said I should start publishing online, he had to explain what fanfic.net was. I was like noone is gonna wanna read what I write and he was like no it's really good. He wasn't even a fan of CSI Miami but he liked the work.
Again I wasn't big on the internet, it was nowhere like what it is today. Facebook wasn't even a thing then, we were on Bebo.
I started publishing my CSI Miami work and it went from there.
