alright, here's the deal. it's been [looks at watch] 379 days since scott "toyguru" neitlich answered my email asking what the deal was with "C'yra of D'riluth III", the name he invented for Catra in MOTUC.

(specifically 1. how is it pronounced, 2. is she C'yra the third or from a planet named D'riluth-3?, and 3. does he possibly remember the inspiration for it)

the above post was his response. so i'm thinking 'near future' may have been... optimistic. Of the 363 videos he's published since, not one touches on the real name origin of any MOTUC figure.

363 videos in 379 days, huh? to be blunt: Scott uses the 'content farm' model of youtubing. make a lot of short videos with low production quality, publish them on a reliable schedule, bam, the views create themselves!

i can't lie man, i find it incredibly irritating. watching his MOTUC ""director's"" commentary week after week to learn like 2 new pieces of information and that he doesn't like SPOP bc it "changed too much" (as if he didn't make catra a 5000 year old alien) makes me feel an emotion which ranges from vague disappointment to vivid anger.

scott was kind of infamous during his MOTUC tenure for being someone that would make shit up and then double down on it, and his mantra was "keep reading the bios" (i.e., stay tuned and maybe one day we'll tell you). the way i found out he wrote catra's bio was because people were asking why the hell hordak would tell adora she was his step-daughter instead of just like, adopted, and he insisted it would raise 'fewer questions'. in what world man. in what world

anyway. i've been thinking about ways to incentivize him. these range from pleading, bribery, what i think would legally constitute harassment so we're not doing that one, etc. so what does scott want and how can i dangle it in front of him like a carrot before a mule?

engagement. scott wants comments. scott wants views. scott wants to be an information emperor doling out boons in bite-sized pieces over stock image slideshows. but if i give him engagement, either myself or by directing other spop fans to his content, he will ride that train until the tracks are ground to dust.

so i think my best bet is to start a letter writing campaign? or something?

'hi mr toyguru sir, sure would love if you would answer these specific questions. why i might even watch/engage with your content if you did so' or something to that effect. something that makes it clear to him that a video providing very basic information which only he possesses would do numbers compared to "Cryptoys: collect and play Masters of the Universe is here! but this part is important: we'd have to follow through :/ to incentivize videos along a similar vein going forward. and look, if he dropped a catra name lore video tomorrow? brother you better believe i'd drop a link to that. my clout is meager, but i have mutuals and big wet eyes i can use to plead with them for reblogs 🥺

Memories were like fragments of a fever dream, irrational, illogical, in garish technicolor that was more illusion than true vision, colors he shouldn’t even have been able to name. Blood was bright berry red, staining lips and teeth, coating his tongue. It was the taste of power, life, and things long forgotten. And it was intoxicating.

Ezra's eyes snapped open, heart pounding in his chest as he sat up abruptly. It took a moment for him to orient himself, disorientation hazing his vision as he looked around wildly. He was in Jericho's room, on the bed, and the other man still had his eyes closed, the gentle rise and fall of his chest telling Ezra he was deeply asleep.

A wave of relief washed over him, and he slumped back against the pillows, trying to slow his breathing and calm his racing heart. It was just a dream; he told himself firmly. But even as he tried to convince himself, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it than that. Something about the taste of blood...it was almost too real.

He shook his head, trying to clear it, and then glanced at Jericho. Webs of silver moonlight draped over his sleeping form, and Ezra couldn't help but reach out and brush a few stray strands of hair back from the other man's forehead. He looked so peaceful when he slept, almost childlike in his innocence. It was hard to believe that this was the same man who could tear through another with nothing more than his bare hands.

Ezra let his hand linger for a moment longer before he wrenched it back; electricity danced across his fingers from the contact. Tiny threads of blue-white crackled and sparked in the darkness, and he stared at them for a moment before they dissipated into nothing.

"Are you trying to feed from me, even in your sleep? Or are even my powers falling under your thrall? I should be careful lest I lose myself entirely to you." He didn't know what it was about Jericho that was so intoxicating, but Ezra knew he was in danger of becoming addicted. He was like a drug, and Ezra was quickly becoming addicted to the high he got from being around him. It was dangerous, but he couldn't seem to help himself.
