Mayhaps Alicent would have pushed harder for a marriage between them, had it not been for Aegon’s condition. He knew as well as any that he would not live to be an old man. He will die young, alone in his bed, with no one to mourn him, if he has any say in the matter.

When King Viserys calls for Rhaenyra, Daemon and their children to return from Dragonstone, Aegon is smitten at the sight of his childhood companion. Now a woman grown.

“I will not condemn her to love a ghost.” Aegon explains, “she will go to Aemond, he will comfort her. He will be there for her, they might grow old together. He will help her lead. I cannot.”

Y/N grows closer to Aemond in those weeks following Aegon’s rejection. Enough so that Aemond asks for her hand. On the day they wed, Y/N learns the horrible truth of Aegon’s condition. He has only hours left to live and he’s robbed her of so much time with him.

She makes for his chambers with her new husband in tow, wedding gown still adorning her.“You lied to me,” she wails, clutching at Aemond as though she wants to bring him closer and yet push him away. “How could you?”

“Because I love you, darling girl.” Aegon forces out the words, despite the pain of his ailing body. “This is what’s best for you. To live a long and happy life with someone who can. Not to make you a widow before you could’ve been a proper wife.”

Y/N shakes her head, she loves Aemond. She will be a good and faithful wife.

Aemond sighs, “you are allowed to love him as well.”

Aegon opens his arms for her, allowing her head to rest on his chest. Stroking dark hair as she traces the line of his jaw with her finger.

“I would’ve been with you every second.”

“I know.”

“You have cared for me, more than you will ever know.” Aegon murmurs.

Aegon nods, feeling his tired heart begin to slow. “Thank you.” He is ready then, as he will ever be. “Mayhaps we might be one, like the Conquers.”

“I should like that very much, brother.” Aemond admits, “though you must always keep to your side of the bed.”

Aegon lets out a low chuckle. “Of course.”

“I love you, Aegon.” Y/N’s arms tighten around him, as if she holds him close enough, he will not go.

“As I love you.” He murmurs, with his dying breath, “hush now, Aemond will hold you.”

Her husband strokes her hair, sweetly. Knowing there is nothing more he can do. Aegon draws his last breath, Y/N very well knows it. Screaming loudly enough to alert the attending maesters.

“His grace is gone, my princess.” The grand maester confirms. “The silent sisters must prepare his body.”

“I do not wish to leave him.”

Aemond sighs, helping her to sit up and then to stand.

Y/N throws her arms around him. The pain is too great, no person could bear it alone. Her heart splits open, aching for someone she will never see again.

Aemond assures her, “we’re going to survive this, you and I. We’re going to live our lives to the fullest, do my brother proud.”

She nods, head cradled against his chest.

“Breathe,” he reminds her, “for now, just breathe.”

Part 2 !

Robin doesn’t think much of monkey d dragon at first,

That being said she doesn’t even get to meet him until 3 months into her two year stay.

At first impressions go, it could be better.. she walks into a meeting room and is met with loud argument.

Sabo is yelling and crying and Dragon is just standing there.

When Dragon speaks it’s in a low gutteral voice that almost seems unreal. “You don’t want to hear my reasons you want to be angry. Even then I don’t think hearing my reasons would make you less angry.”

Sabo storms off.

Dragon then looks at her, “ah” he says very intelligently.

What he did next someone else would describe as ‘fleeing’ but Robin was gracious enough to label it a ‘tactical retreat’

From there Robin learned two things Dragon was the most awkward man she had ever met and she for whatever reason. Enjoyed his company.

“You look like your mother.” He stated one random Tuesday while she poured over charts trying to figure out where her crew was. She simply nodded, she had been told that most of her life.

“That scrunch.” Dragon continued, “between the eyes, she did the same thing. Actually she did it so much she had a tan line.” There’s a whisper of amusement in his voice.

Of course in this nice moment of shared history Robin decides to ruin it. She looks him dead in the eye and with the calmest voice she has says “father? Is that you?”

Dragon chokes, folds in half and lets out a wheezing laugh. This makes Robin hide a smile, that’s the other thing she enjoys. Dragon likes her sense of humour.

She remembers her dad, well she remembers the sound of a heart monitor and shaky hands. But that doesn’t matter much now.

Her amusement turns to concern as Dragon starts to cough and he doesn’t stop. She’s just about to make a stretcher made out arms when he raises a hand.

Dragon takes a deep breath, “I’m ok.” He looks down at her with a small smile, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Thank you Robin.”

His smile grows, making his eyes crinkle and.. oh

It’s rather endearing, really.

All of that awkwardness- social and physical- turn off like a switch at the training grounds. He doesn’t stick to any particular style, but flows almost cat-like between so many that it all might as well be his own. His devil fruit only makes rare appearances in sparring matches, and that’s probably for good reason. The only time she saw him use it was in a sparring match with Sabo, and half the field needed reparations.

She promises she’s only watching to learn how he fights. She’s just filling out information blocks in her head for future reference.

Okay yeah we'll deal with this first out of the TWENTY SOME ASKS I NEED TO HANDLE RIGHT NOW I'm not actually mad just dramatic this is amazing I'm gonna get so much writing done

Okay directors cut for Tales of the Steve Miller Au! I've thought for a long time now that I need to write a story about how Ezra gets his second kyber crystal, because we have no idea how it happened in canon. I read this fic a while back about the same topic that was a Star Wars: Visions AND Jedi Survivor crossover as well (which was super fun!!) and that helped inspire me a little

I came up with the idea of setting it on Pabu around the time that the Bad Batch finale came out. I also happened to be reading this marvelous Bad Batch centric series at that point, which helped a lot! Plus, they hadn't shown up yet, ya know? I went with the comics version of how Order 66 went down for Kanan (though the two can be combined pretty easily) because I didn't know how The Bad Batch was gonna end and I hate writing something only to have it contradicted. Sometimes I put up with it, other times I do not. Anyway, it was fun to finally draw those characters into this series, and I hope I'll have a chance to write them more in the future

I also took the idea of a cave system full of water from The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner! I'm a sucker for that series, and I loved the part where Gen is exploring the caves looking for Hamiathes Stone and nearly dying the process lol. OH and it was also inspired by that scene in Shadow and Bone season two, episode...three? Two? The one where they go after the Sea Whip. I always thought that Ezra would have liked to adopt the Sea Whip

The nos monster was thanks to at least a full hour of plumbing the depths of Wookipedia looking for an amphibious creature that wasn't Oggdo Boggdo lol, and it is truly a miracle I found anything at all

And last but not least, the scene at the end with Kanan was one of the hardest things I've ever had to write. I seriously thought I was going to start crying at one point (but I didn't! I've only cried over one story I've ever written, and that one isn't published. Yet. It will be sometime soon) and the fact that it got written is a gosh dang miracle. I am REAL proud of the way it ended though

Ummm let's see...oh yeah! Little sneak peek of the future: I have an assortment of other one-shots set in the Steve Miller Au planned for this series!! I've only written two others (one about Dev that I've actually posted, and one about Sabine that I have not) but I'll probably work on them at some point after I finish the main series. I have a lot of fun ideas!! Little hint of a story I'm gonna tell in the future: wow most of my options are super spoiler-ful. Uhhh let's go with this. There may well be. okay wait a minute please. i haven’t had a story encapsulate me in months. this brought me back to my wattpad days were plot was just so good and juicy. the concept of this is going to tear me away piece by piece and I can’t wait for it. the prologue had me clutching my necklaces. i read it and i was like sunghoon is dead but then i read your series masterlist and my heart broke when i read “the death of her brother jay”. crying, shedding tears, rolling on floor, hyperventilating, and having a crisis.

i read this and please my little devil duo that is niki and jungwon. i have a special place in my heart for them. when niki was going off on jake *cue applause* and when they would tell him to stop, i was like wait no let him cook 🧑‍🍳. he just started stirring the pot. emily i don’t even know if i hate her 🌚. like the girl is crazy but, i fear he baby trapped her lol. her laying in bed just like oh fuck mayhaps i fucked up too much 😭. like the way i see it she was on a mission to girl boss but i guess she girl bossed too hard she ended up pregnant 🤰.

one thing that is getting me hyped is the heeseung fwb relationship. i want to see how that dynamic works. will he be in love with her and just one sided or not. i can’t wait to see the dynamic between jake, heeseung, and yn.

i am excited to see how not just YN but all their relationships change after Jay’s passing. like will they solely blame jake (only right answer) or will they also blame emily since she was the reason of jake’s argument with everyone. i am highly interested on sunghoon’s pov because he was there. will he be more sympathetic towards jake or will he be the seed that makes the whole group hate jake.

jake as a girl dad is going to be so cute. i feel like he will be a crazy character in where you want to hate him but, then scenes with the daughter comes out and then we are like sigh wait he’s kinda cute 🥰🥹 i am also excited to see the friend groups reaction to his daughter. will emily come and give a jumpscare like boo 👻.

so many questions and i have more but, i will not bombard you with a boat load of questions. i can’t wait to read your story and see how this world develops ✨🩶

Brooo this story was originally for Wattpad. Like it was fully supposed to be a complete different fanfiction. But then I rediscovered it, remembered how attached I was to the characters and decided to make it an ENHYPEN fanfiction.

Jake is such a wildcard character honestly. It’s so easy to hate Jake and the way he treats y/n. He’s kind of an asshole to her and really selfish cuz he’s brought up to think- mob first. But he doesn’t realise the fuckery it leads to.
