im bored let's discuss some cruel prince hcs?

ok so i've been thinking a lot about some fan art of jude and cardan's potential children so here is what i think they'd have:

firstborn is a girl. she has pointed canines, black curly hair, a tail. her name is elodie or eloise or something cute that starts with an e. i think she'd grow up to be a scholar.

second born is a girl. demetria. loosely thought of this because of the kalogeras sisters (sue me). she'd have curly hair too but it would be a dark dark brown. no tail no sharp canines. she'd have DARK eyes. i feel like she'd be goofy. not interested in romantic prospects ever. she'd be good with an axe.

third born is ALSO a girl. this one is gonna be more like taryn in disposition. more sweet and gentle and shy. dark hair that isn't curly, has jude's eyes. more soft and feminine in character than the other daughters. her name would be clementine, clemmy as a cute nickname. she has cardan's tail but no canines.

youngest would AGAIN be a girl. her name would be something short like lyn or rue or ellis. she'd have the lightest hair out of them all and have jude's eyes; she'd take up swordplay like her mother. all in all, the youngest would either be EXACTLY like jude or EXACTLY like cardan.

you may notice i hc that they have only daughters. i just see cardan as a girl dad, and jude as a girl mom.

i don't know what prompted me to write this i just had a thought!!

I want to point out a scene that I'm one 100% sure slip from everyone eyes when reading the cruel prince, so here we go:

When you read the book again after you have already experienced the Horror of the Coronation, you see little details like this one that means the world to me.

The first time I read the book, I was so in shock of modoc action and the death that happened that I didn't pay that much attention to the jude and cardan scene because all my mind was working on was why modoc did what he did and what does it mean for jude.

Any way in this scene jude put her hair down infront of cardan for the first time I think + he was already drunk so when he looked at her he saw a glorious woman that he is desperately need for his desire. So he was going to say, "You look.. magnificent / beautiful / breathtaking," how've he shut up because he can't lie.

And when jude left him to bring a mask for herself, he started to drink more to stop thinking of her. Then my new fav line is "his gaze burning into me. I have no idea what he sees, what he's looking for." You want me to move on from this line from his gaze being so obvious about his obsession for her. I'm sorry, but I could never do that ever.

Gentle reminder that Cardan, who could usually tell Taryn and Jude apart, mistook Taryn for Jude when she was wearing the beautification earrings. Meaning Cardan sees Jude as the hotter/prettier twin.

one thing I appreciate about holly black is she easily could've gone down the route of jude either finding out she was suddenly "blessed" with some power or turned into a faerie somehow but instead kept jude mortal and let her continue being the badass she is and claw her way into her position. She is just a regular human, and I LOVE this detail so much
