[映画]現金に体を張れ(The Killing)

1956年のスタンリー・キューブリック監督作品である。強盗一味の強盗計画・実行・その後を時系列を入れ替えて淡々と撮ってく映画であり、モノクロなのもあって後期の強烈なキューブリック作品と比べると地味さは否めない。しかし、クエンティン・タランティーノがこの映画に影響を受けて「レザボア・ドッグス」を作ったことからもわかるように、淡々としてるわりに観終わったあとの「ムッハー！」感がなかなか半端なかった。

正直に言うと、序盤はやや退屈である。競馬場での現金強奪計画について、ジョニー（スターリング・ヘイドン）を中心として関わるメンバーとその背景が紹介されるのだが、人数が多いゆえあまり深堀りできずさらっとしていて目が滑ってしまうし、おっさんたちは全部同じ顔に見えるしで（これはわたしが悪い）、後半盛り上がりそうだから前半はこんなもんかね、という感じだ。 ただ絵に描いたような性悪女が出てきて、そいつが文字通り男だらけの世界に華を添えていていいスパイスみたいになって���た。もうほんとにわかりやすく性悪なのでしまいにおもしろくなるレベルである。

んで後半は怒涛の展開である。競馬場の現金強奪の実行シーンも時系列を少し入れ替えつつやるのだが、ここもところどころもたつくものの、お約束どおりハラハラさせてくれる（そ、そこそんなチンタラしてると警察きちゃうよー！的な意味で）。また現役プロレスラー俳優の暴れシーンは必見。ひとりだけ真面目に技をかけているのでどこか哀愁が漂うレベルでおかしい。 そこから、強盗したあとが書かれるんだが、余計なことは言わずもがな、拳銃の音がしたと思ったら血まみれの男たちがぶっ倒れていたりして、一瞬にして観客は事態を悟ることになる。そういうたたみ掛けがテンポを上げて続く。そしてラストシーンへの流れは秀逸のひとこと。札束がどーん！となるシーンは、来るぞ来るぞとわかるんだけど、わかっててもすごい笑ってしまう。画（え）の破壊力が想像を超えるんである。そしてラストシーンはまさに「ジ・エンド」でびしっとしめられ、クールというほかない。

思うに、ファンならずとも、すぐに人が死んじゃう昨今のギャング映画の原点としても、この映画を楽しむことができるんじゃないだろうか。半世紀前から映画内のギャングたちはこうやって死んでたのかな、とか。 個人的には、ところどころ出てくる動物に重要な意味を持たせてくるあたりがキューブリックらしくてかわいいらしいなと唸った。
