HAPPY PRIDE MONTH, EVERYONE! We are thrilled to announce our second-annual Pride Bundles for Charity with two all-new short story bundles – 30 stories total! – that we are selling at a discount to raise money for our chosen queer charity!

Last year, our debut Pride bundles raised almost $350 for queer charities. This year, we’re back with a new General Imprint Bundle and a new Explicit Imprint Bundle, each discounted 20% from their list prices (and each including multiple stories that aren’t for sale and are usually only available to our backers on Patreon) and with 20% of the net profit going to Rainbow Railroad.

How This Works

you buy one or both bundles between now and July 8th, 2024.

we tally up all the proceeds earned and do some math-e-magic to figure out how much we’re donating!

before the end of July, we donate the raised money to Rainbow Railroad, we post the proof we’ve done so.

you get fantastic stories!

we all get that happy, glowy feeling of knowing that money has been well-spent on fantastic causes!

About the Press

Duck Prints Press is a queer-owned indie press, founded to publish original works by fancreators. We’ve been in operation for over 3 years, and in that time we’ve worked with well over 150 creators to publish six anthologies and almost 100 other stories, from shorts to novels, and we’ve got more on the works (our next anthology, our first erotica collection, will be crowdfunding within the next month!). The vast majority of our creators and their creations are queer/LGTBQIA+ (maybe even all, but we don’t out anyone and we don’t ask demography because, frankly, it’s none of our business).

25 of our authors have chosen to include their short stories in one or both of these short story bundles, and all our short story authors nominated potential charities and voted to select Rainbow Railroad as the beneficiary for our 2024 Pride Bundles.

About Rainbow Railroad

In countries around the world, LGBTQI+ people face violence and oppression simply because of who they love or who they are. Rainbow Railroad helps them get to safety! Rainbow Railroad is a global not-for-profit organization that helps at-risk LGBTQI+ people get to safety worldwide. Based in the United States and Canada, they’re an organization that helps LGBTQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics. In a time when there are more displaced people than ever, LGBTQI+ people are uniquely vulnerable due to systemic, state-enabled homophobia and transphobia. These factors either displace them in their own country or prevent them from escaping harm.

thinking about fluffybird and how tragic is is that theyre never gonna work out cuz they literally live in a land of nonsensical, miserable fiction. they can try all they want to become humanlike or alive, but no matter how close they get they will never truly be real. its an unfortunate reality, but love is a feeling for the sentient—the existing—and thats something theyre simply not. theyre nothing but animals in a petting zoo of felt. they think they know love and hate, but where do their own feelings start and the script they follow end? what part of them is real?

are the glances at each other or the jokes that they share real, or are they scripted events, their interactions written into reality by the hands of many actors and puppeteers?

or on the other hand— is this the real part of them? do they break away from their places to look the other in the face? do they shove away hands and fight their own bones just to meet each others eyes? if this is the case, it’s still just as hopeless. theyre cursed with constant amnesia and fatigue, blurring their thoughts and memories. its hard to fight the world itself as it slams you with narcotics and rots your brain with worms. every time they have the urge to rebel, its forgotten and scrubbed before they can try. and even if they did manage to win this pointless fight, what difference would it make? theyd have nowhere to run together. they still wouldnt be real.

whether their love is genuine or not, scripted or improvised, they are not real people and they have no real lives. its hopeless no matter the situation.

DAD DUCK AND HIS SON SUN AU

Ha ha, I usually a sucker with angst, but I think, this time, my AU will be a little bit funny.

This AU happens from the future, when Sun got captured by Nexus, and in jail, he accidentally makes friend with a new roommate.

The Creator.

His Creator, his father, the person who The only best thing Sun could think of about him was that his Father created Earth.

Get locked up in jail, drugged and craniotomized to the point of unable to think at the very basic level. (It likes with Moon when he got locked up by Eclipse, he is too in pain, he couldn't think anything)

Turn out Creator because of his own ego, got beaten up and played in Dark Sun's hand, and used by Nexus as an experiment day in and day out.

So, because Sun wants to escape, he has no choice but to save and cooperate with his father. Because between they two, Creator is the smart one.

So... To get Creator out of jail and out of these chains and test tube stick in Creator 's brain meat, Sun turns Creator into goose.

They escape together, and with these times they spend, there are a lot of yelling and crying in frustration.

(Because although Creator is so confident in his intelligence, but right now, he has to rely on Sun completely, that pathetic useless son reminds him of his failure so much.

And Sun, even though he hated his father's gut, but he knows Creator is the only way for him to get out.)

So we will have a duo who has to stick with eachother even though they hated eachother so much and will not afraid to stab eachother 's back.

And believe me when I say if you think Moon and Eclipse is bad, this duo is worse.

Because Sun will not hesitated to burn Creator alive if he makes any wrong moves, and Creator who also try to find any of Sun's weakness or strings for him to pull, in the form of a goose.

----

I would want to see more of Sun and Creator. And maybe seeing Creator has some kind of redempt himself, for Sun.

This design is up to change but I kinda like it, so I don't think it'll change much; the hair definitely won't, my man is stressed.

Finally decided to call this au "Echoes of Cassandra" cause i couldn't think of anything else. Get it? Because Cassandra of Troy, Cassandra Jones, and Cassandra Jones Jr. It's all an echo! I'm a genius! This didn't take me a week to think of at all!

Also ignore any mistakes, this was a random doodle that turned into something more I didn't use a reference 😞 also it's not plot relevant, gift of prophecy doesn't give you like, light powers. (Or maybe it does, I'll think on it)
