THE LEGEND OF BRADY’S CREW AND THEIR CRASH WAGON
The crash landing we see John Brady’s crew conduct in Part 1 of Masters of the Air was not their first. On Christmas Eve of 1942, Brady’s crew took off on a training mission but crash landed in the snowy mountains of Evanston, Wyoming due to inclement weather and a lack of gas. No one was injured thanks to Brady’s skillful flying (and Harry Crosby’s Scottish descent, according to the young woman who found them).

Afterward, the crew received a brand new B-17F, serial number 42-30071. Though officially titled “SKIPPER”, the Fort had immediately been given a name: “BRADY’S CRASH WAGON” in homage to the legend of their training accident.
Their second crash landing, the one we see in the show, actually occurred at an Air Depot in Warton on the east coast due to the landing gear being frozen. Their belly-landing damaged their aircraft so they were forced to take a train to Diss and then a truck to Thorpe Abbotts.

42-30071 “BRADY’S CRASH WAGON” would be repaired and sent to the 96th Bomb Group. It was irreparably damaged in another belly-landing on April 18, 1944 and scrapped.

Crittertember Day 8: With your critter OC
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of drawing Bobby all the time I do want to draw some other critters. Here its Picky and her farm help, Bunzo! Picky is a very goal oriented critter as shown. But she is glad Cheerigo missed her mailbox this time. That means no time wasted having to fix it. Now its time to go sell apples!
Yeah I know I drew Picky more anthro-y than my OC. No real explanation as to why. I need to be consistent with my art. Bit I wanted to draw Picky in some farm clothes.
Cheerigo is a very diligent mail bat. She will be okay.

I’ve been dealing with some really bad writers block for MONTHS
Which I’m very sorry for my lacking contribution to the gay
But I finally figured out why, and it’s the dumbest reason ever.
The Cape Henlopen.
The Cape Henlopen is a WW2 LST that runs as a ferry in New England, which is a boat I work on, and where I did most of my writing while on watch.
Well the cape went into the ship yard right after I posted the last most recent chapter of Crash Landing.
Well she’s out of the yard now and the writers block went away.
So, more coming soon.

Crash Landing written by BrusselsSprout (aka @royaltealovingkookiness)
Zuko is bad at being good, Katara is good at being mad. Destiny smashes their heads together, when they crash on a remote island after the failed invasion. With the world's fate hanging in the balance, they have no choice, but to take a crash-course in survival, teamwork and friendship together.

Plane Dragon Crash
Rated: teen
Warnings: broken bones
———
Astrid hated crashing. But, then again, who didn’t?
Crashing in the middle of battle was worse than a regular crash, in her opinion. Her heart still went into her throat though, and she still felt all that uncomfortable heat in her stomach that wanted to burst free from her chest and her throat in a scream.
And maybe she did scream. Poor Stormfly had taken multiple dragon root arrows, and she was so disoriented she could hardly fly.
Hence the crashing.
Astrid’s breath was torn from her as they spiraled and hit the trees. Branches struck at her face, even as she brought up an arm to try to protect her eyes.
Stormfly tried landing on her feet, but careened and skidded in the dirt, throwing Astrid from the saddle. She landed on her front, blood filling her mouth as she accidentally bit down on her tongue.
For a long while Astrid and Stormfly lay there, gasping for air, trying to figure out their surroundings and whether or not they were severely injured.
Astrid felt like her right wrist was broken, but that didn’t keep her from getting up with a grunt and rushing over to her dragon.
“Stormfly!” Her friend was hardly conscious, laying on her side, left wing looking like it could be fractured.
Astrid first looked to the sky before beginning her work of removing the arrows. She had to make sure no enemy had followed her down and was going to see her as easy to pick off. Down here, vulnerable with an injured dragon, she truly was.
Brushing a few tears from her eyes that she would never admit to, Astrid removed the first arrow.
