“Amor…basta they will be bere any minute now…” you were a moaning mess on Pablo’s lap while he kissed down your neck towards your cleavage.
“Not my fault you wore that dress Princesa…just a little longer porfa!!!!!!” He groaned and just as you were about to protest the doorbell interrupted you and you jumped off his lap.
“Get decent!!!!!!” You tell him sternly and he smirks putting his shirt back on (gif).
“You know you love me” he sent you a kiss and your rolled your eyes.
“Unfortunately!!!!!!” You said while he smirked before opening the door for his family to enter.
“Did we interrupt something?????? Took you awhile to answer” Aurora whispered into my ear making me blush bright red and roll my eyes. They surely had one things in common and it was teasing me!!!!!!
“How’s your leg precioso” Belen walked to Gavi kissing his head and the boy smiled shyly embarrassed when she treated him like a baby.
“It’s fine mamá. Gets better with recovery” he said and she nodded. Poor woman cried for days after the accident and still fears of her son being in so much pain.
“Yn takes good care of you, you finally gained back some weight” his dad added and you smiled brining out the food and drinks they wanted. Aurora helped you with lighting the candles and Christmas tree.
“She’s the best, unless she doesn’t give me what I want!!!!!!” He said looking at you playfully and once again you blushed. Little devil!!!!!!
“ Too many sweets arent good for you cariño” you say hinting to him and he smirked nodding his head.
“Shes right, you need to watch your cravings” Belen added while Aurora giggled secretly finding this whole thing way too hilarious.
“I might break his other leg if he doesn’t stop it! “ you whisper to Aurora and she smirked nodding her head.
During dinner Pablo kept getting closer to you until his hand was gripping your thigh moving upwards. He’s really not giving up huh!!?
“I’ll go get napkins!” You jump running off to the kitchen not expecting him to follow but he did. He stoop behind you leaving his crutches to the side before his hand slid underneath your dress resting on your bum.
“Please go change that dress amor…I can’t control myself!!!!!!” He groaned. You knew it’s been awhile since Pablo satisfied his “craving” and it made you proud that you can drive him crazy like this.
“Hmm what’s wrong with my dress cariño???” You play innocent and he smirks turning you around and kissing your lips.
“Nothing…it’s perfect…fuck it’s perfect” he groaned touching your curves but then remembering that you weren’t alone.
“Go be with you family and I’ll change…bueno??????” You say and he nods pouting before you kissed his lips passionately.
“I’ll wear it again when they leave, bueno??????” You smirk and he nods kissing you again before leaving.
When you came back in a different outfit everyone smiled asking why you changed…it was obvious to Aurora but not the older couple.
“Um…I spilled some soda on it” you lied shyly sitting back down and earning a smirk from your boyfriend…what he can do to you, damn it!!!!!!
When they all left, you went to Pablo sitting on the couch straddling his lap.
“Go out that dress back on amorcito” he smirked but you shut him up with a kiss. You opened your blazer showing him your red Santa lingerie with a smirk on your proud face.
“You sure about that cariño???” You smirk and he pulls you closer ripping off the rest of your clothes leaving you in the lingerie on his lap.
“Fuck!!! Merry Christmas to me!!!” He said devoting your neck again ready to satisfy “his craving” ;))

John "Soap" McTavish(2009) x Reader x John "Soap" McTavish(2022)
Warnings: Mention of Modern Warfare 3 (2011), Some fluff, they/them used once other than that no pronouns are used.
You recall your relationship with your John while in the hospital.
Another entry For @glitterypirateduck Soap It Up challenge!
This was heavily inspired by the Multiverse AU by shotmrmiller. It's been on my mind for a while lol
Tumblr media
"Right, what the hell kind of name is 'Soap', eh? How'd a muppet like you pass selection?"
You heard Price state, looking up from cleaning your gun you saw the new guy who was set to join. Fresh faced and ready for battle, you wondered how long that would last. You watched as he passed the C.Q.B with a pretty average time, but he passed nonetheless. After that Price quickly briefed the team on the mission, infiltrating and assaulting a cargo ship in the Bering Strait. He dismissed us to get ready, deciding you wanted to try and get to know the new guy. You walked over to him and fell into step with him.
You remember it wasn’t hard to get him to open up, which was surprising, most of the guys here were not up for much conversion. After a while, you decided to ask the biggest question on your mind, you asked him about his hair.
“Why did you decide on a mohawk?” You heard him huff.
“Because it was cool…” He mumbled.
"I love ye, y'know that right?"
You could faintly hear Captain McTavish mumble those words under his breath but the sound of the helicopter made you wonder if you heard it at all. What affirmed that it was indeed said out loud was when he took his hand in yours, rubbing his thumb over the back of your hand in a soothing gesture. Who he was comforting, you weren't sure, but you had an inkling it was to ground himself.
You recall It was his first mission as captain and if he was nervous he sure as hell didn’t show it. But you knew him, he often sought some small physical contact as comfort when he was nervous.
It's funny how you remember these things.
You also remember his first mission as captain went off without a hitch, of course, there were hiccups but like he promised nothing happened to you. It was oddly sweet in its own way, he knew you could take care of yourself but he often fretted sometimes (even if he didn't entirely show it).
Another moment you recall with John McTavish was when you two were outside. He was smoking and you were just keeping him company. It was a nice evening, a bit cold but nothing you couldn't handle. You two were talking about anything and everything as you two normally do. Then the topic of living together came up.
"Y'know... I've been thinking after all this is over we need to... do couples things" he chuckled.
"Oh yeah? Like what? I thought fighting in battlefields was good date material," you joked.
"Ah, that's gettin' old... we could get our own place," he suggested.
"Get our own place? What are you suggesting?" You turned to look at him, he was already looking at you with a grin.
"Aye, I'm sayin' we should live together once this is all over and done with, I'm thinkin' out in the fields near a small town, just the two of us," he stubbed out his smoke before leaning against you. He wrapped an arm around your waist and brought you closer.
"Hm, that sounds wonderful... We could get a cat... maybe two so the other one wouldn't be lonely," you suggested, planting a kiss on his lips as you both thought about this fantasy. You'll never forget the way his cheeks turned a bit rosy after that.
Though before house buying the one important thing on John's 'Couples things' list was getting married. Of course, you both talked extensively about it, making sure it was something you both were on the same page on. The ceremony wasn't anything special, just you, John, and a few friends and family to celebrate at John's Parents' house. It was a sweet time, filled with talking and laughing (Ghost and Roach were both raiding the snacks John's mom made).
"Look at you, my little brother gettin' married! Never thought I see the day, thought you were married to the military life for a sec," John's sister teasingly bumped his shoulder. Though she was teasing, she seemed pretty proud and happy for him.
"Aye, never thought I get so lucky, knew I wanted to marry them 6 months in but didn't want to scare them," John chuckled while wrapping an arm around your waist. You just rolled your eyes and nudged his rib, and he responded by pinching your hip before kissing your cheek.
But things didn't turn out like you both planned. Luck had to run out someday.
'I won't let anything happen to you,' rings in your head, he never failed to mention it before missions you both went on.
Is that why you were here?
You weren't sure how to explain it. One moment you were with John and Yuri, in that building, something went off and you woke up with someone looming over you.. before it all went black again.
You felt like you were in a different body, and you say that loosely since it still felt like you but a bit younger, less tense. You weakly opened your eyes, the blaring lights of the hospital flooding your vision. You groaned, wincing away for a moment before it felt safe to look again. The bed you were lying on was much softer than the ones back on base.
"Ah, you're awake," you saw a nurse to your left side checking your vitals, she gave you a reassuring smile.
"You were out for a while, almost two months! Had some bloke worried sick about you... Johnny, I think his name was," she started explaining. You never really heard people refer to John as Johnny but whatever at least you knew he was alive.
“Is he okay?” You rushed to ask.
“Yes he’s fine, was discharged a while ago, you were the one to take the most of the damage,” She paused to resume her work.
“Actually he should be coming back soon, doesn’t leave your side unless he needs the restroom, you definitely have a good one,” She chuckled.
Oh, thank god he was okay.
The nurse left you to rest after and you started mulling over what happened.
An explosion happened, you were falling alongside Yuri when it happened. But you couldn't remember much else.
You began to feel uneasy, like you lost a big part of yourself and yet you couldn't explain why. Which was weird considering the nurse just confirmed he was, in fact, relatively okay. While you were mulling it over some more you didn't hear the door opening and the sound of hurried footsteps rushing over to your bed.
"Yer awake!"
You whipped your head up to see your husband, so grateful he was okay. You were almost ready to jump on him but you froze when your eyes finally landed on him. What looked like John, though he was a mildly younger version of him. He was a bit shorter than your John as well, along with sounding vastly different.
That was definitely not your John.
He looked worried and relieved at you. Placing a hand on yours but also trying not to hover around you, you noticed a tattoo on his right arm, John didn’t have an arm tattoo. He decided to just sit down on the chair that was pushed near your hospital bed. Not knowing what to do you took your hand out of his and placed it on your stomach.
That’s when you noticed your simple wedding band was gone.
Replaced with one that had a pearl and a few diamonds.
Whose ring was this?
You were confused and dare you say scared. Scared more than you ever have been in your life and that's saying a lot considering your line of work. But where exactly were you?
"Yer looking at me like ye don't know me, Bonnie," the man broke the silence.
But you didn't know him, you assumed this was the bloke the nurse mentioned.
Johnny.
Wearing the face of your John.
Just what exactly happened?

Just watched the first ep of Percy Jackson, and was hit by a thought:
We've had a couple Bering and Wells Are Halfbloods AUs, but what if - hear me out, Angst and Pain fandom - what if it isn't Helena that is the half blood?
What if it was Christina?
Daughter of Hephaistos, Aphrodite and Helena - because Hephaistos loves Aphrodite too much to ever cheat on her, but a threesome? oh he's down for that. And Helena, tinkerer, artificer: he has adored her for a long time, even before she came to Aphrodite's attention for her flirtatiousness.
And Christina was one of the half bloods that didn't make it.
Helena was heartbroken, of course, and threw herself into figuring out a way to bring her back. She tried to build a time machine, and it would have worked - but it would have rent the Earth asunder, so Hephaistos intervened, changed a little detail, and made it go forward instead of back.
And now here Helena is, 2010, and she runs into (adult) Myka, and knows immediately that Myka has the air of divinity around her - and oh, how she hates it. That Myka survived, that *any* of them survived, when Christina didn't. But fates (or Aphrodite) keeps intent on smacking the two of them into each other over and over again, and Helena can't help but find herself drawn to Myka, can't help but find herself helping Myka's tasks along, can't help but find herself supporting Myka's attempts to live as normal a life as a daughter of Athena could ever hope for...

7 and 17 for the fandom ask game, for your choice of Myka Bering, Helena Wells, or both!
7) Is there a piece of clothing you think Myka is particularly fond of/that you imagine them wearing a lot or like to draw them in?
I like their Warehouse 2 outfit (combats and t-shirt). It’s a good middle ground between more professional attire (often a t-shirt but tailored slacks) and the mission leather from episode 3 was it? The one with the guillotine. Anyway the combats and t-shirt look comfortable and are practical.
I suppose this is why I like it for them. But I do also think Myka would like it. I think she likes her more ‘traditional’ federal agent outfit as kind of armor? Like she puts it on and she’s at work. The more casual mission outfit doesn’t have that but then the Warehouse is more of a family/place to call home than just a job. I think it fits her personality. Like maybe a callback to some awkward teenage years kind of comfort. I think Myka has grown more comfortable with her femininity as she has got older but I think she still likes to be judged as a person, not on her looks. I don’t know if that makes sense?
17) What's a book, movie, or show you think Myka would like?
Myka is obviously all about the books. I mean it’s pretty canon that she likes the classics but I also feel like she likes to read widely so she’ll hit up the bestseller lists etc.
That’s a pretty boring answer though. I don’t think she gets a lot of time to watch TV/movies because what time she has, she would usually choose to read a book. However she has to have at least one ‘guilty pleasure’ show. Given that she knew Pete’s redshirt reference and her age, and also the awkwardness I headcanon for her teenage years. I feel like Star Trek is something she wouldn’t admit to watching, but would find comfort in. Like before the warehouse, it was a world that imagined a future where being different was ok. So I guess in some ways why I like Trek 😛
7) Is there a piece of clothing you think Helena is particularly fond of/that you imagine them wearing a lot or like to draw them in?
I think Helena would appreciate a lot of ‘modern fashion’ because of how free it is in comparison to the 19th century. She wore trousers back then but not all the time. I feel like she would like to deliberately do the different thing now. Like wear a suit to a fancy party rather than a dress (you can see this if you look up Hustle photos btw, Jaime wore a tux once and a suit a couple of times). But obviously Helena is very comfortable with her feminine wiles and more than happy to make them work for her, so there tends to be a subtle sexuality to all her outfits it feels.
Anyway I think her favourite might be the painted on jeans, and loose cotton shirt, as she has worn variations of that quite a lot.
17) What's a book, movie, or show you think Helena would like?
I feel like Helena isn’t much of a media fan. I just can’t see her sitting still long enough to really get into anything. She likes to do. Attention span is short unless she is hyper focused on an invention/case. I think she would definitely want to watch the big cultural heavy hitters - like Star Wars movies and the like. And I think she would be impressed by the special effects. I can see her wanting to have a go herself and maybe making a short 5 minute film or something. (Also maybe she would want to make a lightsaber, and Claudia is definitely not helping).

Ship asks, Bering and Wells edition!
what’s your favorite headcanon of them?
what’s your favorite canon moment of them?
rant about them
well, my headcanon for them is that they actually end up together, but nobody knows :D they suspect, but pretend they don't see, like I am pretty sure that they would not want their relationship be known to everyone, at least not in the beginning, maybe half or an year after asjkhajkhd so it would all lead to stupid situations, cos I love when they have fun and just laugh and nobody dies
I have 2 fav moments, actually more, but I can't choose all, the first would be 'we're forever destined to meet at gunpoint' the moment I realized I ship them, the quote that made me go insane, the entire scene, the entire episode is like the best thing ever, whenever I feel down I just go and rewatch for the team, instant boost, best thing ever.
and the second is from 'reset', I will just throw screenshots here, cos I have no ability to put emotions into words when I watch this scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anybody expected me to not go insane over them after tHIS??? come on this is like all of my ships at its finest, this is such a doctor x master thing to do
but also Emily Lake scenes?????? this shit should come with a warning honestly
I knew I will fall for HG Wells before I even saw her, because let's be honest, you can't not fall for Jaime Murray, look at her, she is the best, but I definitely did not expect to fall for the ship so hard, like I did not know anything about this fandom before I started watching it, nobody told me there is tHIS! you have to give a fucking warning here for the newbies, look at me, years passed and I come back to gif every goddamn moment with them, I have not finished giffing it all yet, cos I can't gif some scenes in peace
how do you gif HG's sacrifice without 3 mental breakdowns in between????/ I giffed this part from reset and wanted to chew on my laptop cos you can't just gif it and not yell every second of the process
that's insane they are not canon, but who gives a fuck about canon, cos they are more than canon, they are literally the definition of angst and pain, I will forever hate the show for doing what they did and giving them straight lovers and making myka and... well, I never finished the show cos of that. cos how can I?? anyone remember this show for myka and pete being together? I don't for sure, and I don't really see anybody talking about it after so many years, we remember the good things - which are Bering and Wells lol. yeah, I know there were many great things in the show, stories were fun, characters great, etc, but I remember this show and still gif it and love it due to Helena Wells, and specifically this pairing, I don't think I would have loved it the way I do if there was not HG or this couple. They are WH13 for me. and while being canon is not important for me, just imagining what an impact they would have if the show let them be together, that would be fabulous.
anyway, they are the best thing in the show for me

just a new fan of rhett and link coming through😄… i want you to know that i've become obsessed with reading you'r posts about them.. btw i think you can't watch and know their story and NOT ship them.. i'm sorry, i mean LOOK at them. every thing they've gone through together, all the changes.. but the only constant is them, together every step of the way….i just- agghhhhh it drives me crazy.
But anyway i was reading one of you'r posts where you said something about their cutest phase being arond 2013- 2014. you also talked about it with an anon a couple of days ago, so i had to share my thoghts on that. and i completely agree, going back and watching that period you can really see it. rhett was being so cute and giggly, all the time about anything link would say, and he could BERELY take his EYES off of link.. and the eye contact was wild… I just.. i love it so much😳 But do you think that same feelings is as strong today? I wonder.. some times i feel like now when they would get a bit.. intimate it's a bit… performative…idk i might be wrong.. i just loved the stoling glanses, soaked with love, that i feel like there were so many of them back then.. but please till me if you think i'm just reading the whole situation wrong😌..
Hello! I am glad you have been enjoying the posts!
I don't think you read the situation wrongly, in fact I believe you are totally correct. There are several potential reasons for this change however and I find perhaps all of them reasonable and normal.
Like I wrote in that post you mentioned, according to the theory 🤷🏻‍♀️ their affair must have started some time in 2014 or early 2015 at most. Their situation back then was critically different than it is now:
The time they really started being romantic was also the time they started getting shipped. Incidentally. Or maybe not. However they were still very new at this game at the time, both how to handle their audience and how to behave with each other under their new status were completely new tasks. They didn't have a good understanding of how they appeared to their viewers and they were completely oblivious to how obvious they were. This is why they were more candid in the past. Now they are painfully aware, especially Rhett, so much so that they even maximise various interactions in their minds. It was a lesson slowly learned and still not perfected - have you seen their constant look of horror every time they watch back episode favourites with Rhink moments every christmas?
Then it's also the natural flow of time. Back then everything was new to them. Their decades long friendship was becoming something new, something even more intense. They were exploring their sexualities anew in ways they were once determined not to, in ways that until then they considered sinful and damning. At the time there wasn't any thought of getting open about it (even now this is a challenge). All this was very fresh and even though Link seems to believe that they started hopelessly late, let's not forget that at the time they were still young men at their mid thirties and given all the emotional, circumstantial and physical parameters the excitement and passion they felt must have been on the extremes. They once had a moment between them on GMM when Rhett said "You know how early in the relationship you behave like rabbits?" and Link agreed with a knowing look. This is also supported by their scripted videos; Link says in Digging A Hole that the reason they failed so bad at making a medium sized hole was that they succeeded so much at digging that they made a huge one instead. In short, these years and the ones to come up to 2019-2020 they were at their sex crazed phase, which is typical of most couples at first, let alone them who are way beyond your average couple in love.
If you notice, they are indeed sweet and soft in late 2013 till early 2016 and then from 2016 to 2021 they are straight out horny. I mean, they are always both but at first sweetness was more overpowering and then it was the horniness. This is also explained in their lore as their sexual affair went through a lot of trial and error, so you can see when sex started getting awesome and also when they finally could start setting aside their inhibitions, guilt (especially Link) and religious concerns and enjoy more unapologetically each other.
From 2020-2021 onwards, since the purchase of the creative house, I believe we have entered a new era, more mature, more contained. Things change; they are in their mid forties now, they have been together for quite a bit and also they have decided to come out, which casts the shadow of fear and severe anxiety in their relationship. Furthermore, they are not exactly on the same page (Rhett wouldn't mind not ever coming out had it not been for Link) and this wears them down and their interactions. All the fear of the future and the unknown must consume a considerable amount of their private time together. Age, getting used to each other and critical challenges are what makes them appear less lovestruck than they used to. They still do though, much more than your average 45 year old in a relationship does. I mean, it was only a year ago when Link sexily said he would FIGURATIVELY feed Rhett with words for a word game and Rhett stupidly opened his mouth to actually swallow the plastic piece with the word that Link was holding, like the proper solitary horny braincell that he is. It's just that such unbelievable levels of thoughtless horniness and love have become more sparse now that they have aged a bit and have a better understanding of how they are perceived publically. But I am happily firm in my belief that they remain extraordinarily ridiculous.
On the other hand, sometimes when they do something gay, it indeed is performative at this point. Maybe even most of the times. This is because of what they are planning to do, this has killed the spontaneity between them a great deal. Now it's more likely that they will consciously throw hints here and there than that they will slip badly due to their excessive romantic enthusiasm.

ok so i think to try and at least keep up the interest and variety of the poll i wanna like group stuff into sub groups so we can hopefully keep up variety until later tho this is subject to change so like older classic stuff section: xena/gabrielle, janeway/seven of nine, kiradax, homura/michiru, misato/ritsuko, talia/susan from babylon 5, faith/buffy (maybe willow and tara but i do feel like i wanna make the distinction of femslash rather than just popular couple tho i know that line is very fuzzy), uhura/chapel for bravely pioneering femslash zines for the rest of us perhaps anthy and utena in this category but im a tad afraid of their power and ability to sweep polls to make them boring.. so this is the classic 90s giants and then weirdo sci fi stuff i like :) then like tumblr era classiques: so brittana, korrasami, swan queen, madoka/homura, bubbline, rosemary, vrisrezi, gwen/morgana, root/shaw, maybe ill run another sub poll to determine which of the various mediocre but popular femslash ships that were big at various points ur supercorps ur bering and wells whatever that i didnt watch or didnt get into cuz atm swan queens the one im letting thru cuz i was in the trenches there..oh in that vein probably villaneve deserves a mention then was like gonna put a bunch of the cartoon characters together so we can kinda hash it out there so like ruby/sapphire, catradora, um arent there those little gay kids from the owl house.. luz and amity i see, starfire/raven... actually im not sure any of these will be final categories but now im simply grouping for mental clarification video game girlies.. i was told to include merribel, harley/ivy, glados/chell, alphys/undyne ok now just a million ones i have heard of an considering.... then like stuff im considering including karma and amy from faking it because i run this poll and can make the choices, glinda/elpheba, all versions of carmilla/laura cuz i dont wanna make it just about the webseries, maybe bobbie/avaserala i know this is niche and theres a lot of sci fi shit here but i make the rules!! also on that note maybe georgiou/michael cuz again i was a believer before that show even started, i see that farcille the dungeon meshi girls get lots of reblogs, maxanne for the black sails fans and my bestie <3, avalance cuz my mutuals talk about it, amina/saira cuz i wanna :3, oh probably some of the locked tomb girlies, ok these are all my ideas thank u for suggestions mouse would love comments critiques suggestions..... wrow incredible im already at 32 plus 3 more potential inclusions so i have enough for a big bracket but again tell me the ones u think i should take out tell me who u think i should include thank you for your time :3

Okazaki Station
Tumblr media
I made it! I'm in Okazaki, sitting at my desk with my lappy, getting ready for orientation and all that jazz. Japan! Hard to believe I'm actually, finally here. Read all about the trip after the break!
Preparation
Saturday, we went to see alpacas. Tuesday, I'm in the air. I'd love to say that everything was prepared and finalized ahead of time, but that would be false. Most of Monday was spent packing. Luckily(?) I didn't plan on bringing too much with me, so packing didn't take terribly long. Some changes of clothes, necessary paperwork, etc. I figured I'd pick up anything I forgot / didn't bring once there. Decided not to sleep Monday night because I had to be at the airport at stupid in the morning. Turns out, my TSA Pre-Check had gone through, so there weren't any real problems. Spent a couple hours, got on board, and away we go!
Flight - Dayton to Chicago
The first flight felt... way too quick. A five-hour drive became a 45-minute flight. How even (500+ mph ground speed, that's how). The O'Hare Airport in Chicago was probably my least favorite part of the trip. I didn't want to leave, but there wasn't much to do in the terminal that didn't cost an arm and a leg. And there were far, far too many people. That said, I did get a good ol' McDonald's Sausage & Egg McMuffin, so that was nice.
Flight - Chicago to Tokyo
Tumblr media
Once it was time, we took off for Japan! The long-haul, or summat. At first, my eyes were glued to the landscapes below. We crossed through Illinois, Iowa, and into South Dakota before a thick line of clouds blocked my view. I started watching the new Super Mario movie on the in-flight whateverial, pausing somewhere near the border of North Dakota and Montana because the clouds opened up onto an impressive landscape below - the badlands! Someday, I want to visit. Then I continued my movie, and by the end of it I was a sleepy.
Tumblr media
By the time I woke up from my initial sleep, somehow we were already in British Columbia. I ate a nice little breakfast of sausage, eggs, and hashbrowns and had some amazing green tea as we headed out to the Pacific. Below became quickly covered in clouds and I was only half awake anyway, so not much to say from this leg of the trip. Eventually, according to the map in the console anyway, we crossed part of the Alaskan mainland and made our way over the Bering Sea. I was surprised to see literal PACK ICE outside the window, what with it being August and all. Eventually, we headed south, and I headed back to snoozing.
At some point I woke to blue everywhere, and not too much longer - the coast of Japan!
Tumblr media
Flight - Tokyo to Nagoya
First impressions - bemused surprise, mostly. A world away and yet so very similar. As we flew inbound for Tokyo, I was impressed with the sheer scale of everything. There's a reason that it's the largest city on the planet. I was also surprised that I was able to locate specific landmarks in such a city - the Tokyo Tower, for instance.
We landed and were ushered through immigration. Compared to O'Hare, Haneda airport in Tokyo felt way more open and less crowded, somehow. Also, the prices merchants were charging didn't feel exorbitant, especially on foodstuffs. I did wander in circles a few times just trying to orient myself as to where I was and where I was going, but I got to my terminal on time anyway (part of the issue is that the flight arriving was delayed, so the terminal got switched and I couldn't find the departure point; it was downstairs from the rest of them). Rather fun little boarding experience, as the "terminal" was a bus that took us to the plane out on the tarmac.
Another very quick flight, and sadly it was dark and cloudy so after the lights of Tokyo there wasn't too much to see. We landed at Centrair roughly a half-hour later than anticipated and then we were on our merry way. Once again, a much less crowded terminal than was anticipated. I also noticed that, even though I had read multiple documents warning me ahead of time about the language barrier, there are signs in both Japanese and English at nearly every terminal and train station. It feels like Japan is really trying to make sure dumb foreigners like me know where the heck they are and where they are going.
Train to Okazaki
I got my ticket and boarded the first train, which would take me from the airport to a platform exchange. The next thing I really took note of is just how integrated, cheap, and fast the trains are. It feels like something that the US could really utilize in the future, if they can ever get out from the car-centric mentality. There are cars here, of course, but you really can get around via train and bus.
At the transfer platform, I bought my next ticket and boarded the next bus. There was some confusion with the tickets since I was switching lines, but it all worked itself out. Thankfully I was able to pull some money into my PayPal account though, or I would have never been able to do any of this as I never was able to get the all-important JR Rail pass that costs an arm and a leg yet pays for itself many times over.
An Hour Late and a Dollar Short
So I arrive at Okazaki Station and realize that my phone, which is supposed to support international roaming, apparently doesn't. Thanks Mint >_< I had no way of calling Yamasa to let them know I was running late. Another surprise that I found out shortly thereafter - Japan has a tonne of public payphones! That said, both numbers for Yamasa rang to nowhere.
There were three hotels nearby (the lobby of one in which I was able to charge my phone and such), but none had last-minute rooms available. Ergo, I was kinda forced to spend my first night in Japan... in a train station.
Overnight
I became way too familiar with the Okazaki Station that night. At least I wasn't the only one sleeping there! The time was marked by a series of naps followed by wanderings. There's a lovely little 24hr convenience store across the street and a small park beside the station (if it wasn't constantly threatening rain, I would have totally just chilled in the park!) Behold, Okazaki!

In the Morning - Arrival!
Once it was "day" enough (based on the lobby lights from the hotel) I was able to go charge my phone and check for any news. Nothing yet. I figured I'd try calling every hour on the hour until I got through to someone. My first attempt went nowhere. I was busy watching the morning traffic in the station when suddenly I heard my name being called! My ride had arrived <3
A short car ride away and I was at the Student Village, my home away from home for a few weeks. After the grand tour, I promptly passed out.
Tumblr media
A Pond, A Mall, A Shower
After a nice, finally comfortable nap, it was time to gather (some) supplies. Google Maps said there was a park and a mall literally a couple of blocks away, so to the mall I went! The park wasn't much more than a rainwater catchment pond, but (contrary to the US) it had a walking path and gardens around it. The mall was a legit, real, busy mall! If you pay people, people have money to buy things. If people have money to buy things, places like malls can thrive. If people can meet up in malls, happiness! I'll need to go back in the soontimes, as there was an excellent media store as one of the anchors complete with books, manga, videogames, stationary, etc. Nothing that I need right now, but once my scholarship funds come in... :3 Anyway, I stopped at a small CVS-style shop and picked up a few essentials.
Upon getting back to my room, I was finally able to shower. And I'm noting this here because it was the. best. shower. that I have ever had. Like, water pressure is a thing, and it is wonderful. After, I had myself some "curry" that was more like ramen while watching someone play Sonic Adventure on a GameCube and then passed out.
Tomorrow Comes Today!
So here we are. Okazaki. Three weeks of intensive Japanese language study. I really hope it helps, because my knowledge is very, very limited. From a tourists' perspective, it's fine as there is romaji literally everywhere. For someone who eventually would like to translate and potentially move here... it leaves way too much to be desired. Here's to hoping!

Friday Fic Recs
What I've Read:
Criminal Minds, JJ/Emily, WC: 7882 (WIP) Author: sunshineandguns (@cargopantsprentiss) || Rated: T
Why I Love It: Wholesome and fluffy, which has been a much needed palate cleanser in between chipping away at my WIP. The newest chapter is so warm and fuzzy. Sunshineandguns has a way to building tension with brevity and I relish her writing style.
Criminal Minds, JJ/Elle + JJ/Elle/Emily, WC: 1624 (WIP) Author: wrensumbreon || Rated: E
Why I Love It: I miss Elle so much and I have always shipped her with JJ, this fic is really lovely and full of potential. I hope the author comes back to it at some point, because there is so much that could be explored with the dynamic between JJ/Elle/Emily.
Criminal Minds, JJ/Emily, WC: 12,784+ (WIP) Author: sunshineandguns || Rated: E
Why I Love It: This canon divergent AU has everything I could hope for in a Jemily fic. The angst is unmatched, thick with tension, the inner turmoil between JJ and Emily is incredibly in character and the SMUT!?!?!?! HOLY SHIT THE SMUT!?!!!!! I have absolutely bookmarked this fic for masturbatory purposes. It really ticks every box, I cannot recommend this one highly enough.
Criminal Minds, JJ/Emily, WC: 5119 Author: notabene187 || Rated: E
Why I Love It: Just really well written smut!! I don't usually engage with Top!Emily fics, bc it's not really my HC. But this was done so very well and the dynamic between JJ/Emily was very true to character. Love how this fic wove in bits of canon and made them hit different in the context of the fic. I haven't seen a lot of Jemily CME smut, so this was really sexy! (Totally masturbatory worthy!)
What I'm Writing:
Criminal Minds, JJ/Emily, WC: 47,197+ (WIP)
Update: I just posted Chapter 8 and things are getting really serious now. I originally slated this fic to be seven chapters, then thought it'd be ten, and now I have it planned to be thirteen total chapters. I'm very excited to share where this goes from here. Stay tuned!
Criminal Minds, Tara/Rebecca/JJ, WC: 10,119+ (WIP)
Update: Thank you for everyone's patience! I finally got chapter 2 posted after a couple of months of writer's block. Canon really broke my heart and I am dedicated to giving Tara/Rebecca the happiness they were robbed of in the show, and part of that is giving them a bit of JJ as a treat!
More Fic Recs Under the Cut
Multi-Fandom Fic Recs
My partner and I have been watching Warehouse 13, so naturally I'm back on my Bering and Wells bullshit. They're such a great pair and if you haven't watched Warehouse 13 it's absolutely worth checking out. I'm also always dipping in and out of Critical Role fics so this week, I've included recs are a range of fandoms, maybe you'll find something that piques your interest!
Warehouse 13, Myka/Helena, WC: 1940 Rated: E, Author: lilolilyrae
Why I Love It: I love the tension here, the author's really captured the authenticity of Myke and HG, their characters really shines through in this work. Not to mention it's extremely sexy.
Critical Role, Laudna/Imogen, (Fanart) Author: @astoriacolumnstaircase
Why I Love It: Astoria's drawing style is so gorgeous, I love everything they draw and these comics are such a joy. We actually have a couple of their prints framed on our wall! I think this is my favourite visualisation of Laudna to be honest.

The smell of cheep cologne and alcohol hit both Natasha and Carol's noses as they walk in, neon lights shined everywhere, girls walking around either wearing a very small outfit or nothing just underwear, a few girls dancing on stage, men throwing money at them, some slipping money into the girls thongs.
Walking to the other side of the club to find a empty corner, Carol sees you on a table, grinding yourself against the pole, jealousy flood her seeing a hand reach up and slap your ass before sticking a hundred through the strap of your thong.
"C'mon" Natasha grabs the blonde's hand, pulling her to an empty seat. Carol sits down, pulling Natasha on her lap, cause her to yelp at the unexpected grab, "Stop, asshole" The redhead gets off her lap, sitting down besides her.
"What? I just wanted my pretty lady to sit on my lap" Carol wraps her arm around the back of Natasha shoulder, pulling the redhead into her side, planting a kiss on her temple, "Well you can have another pretty lady on your lap right now" Natasha tells her, eyes locked on you as you walked over to them with a smirk on your face, Carol turns to what she was looking at, a smirk forming on her own face.
"Hello, ladies" You greet them, Carol looks you up and down, licking her lips, "Well aren't you a beautiful thing" She says, Natasha nods agreeing with her wife.
Biting your lip, you look down pushing a strand of ear behind your ears, "Thank you" You look up, gaining your confidence again, "Would you guys like a dance from me?"
Natasha turns her head, whispering something in Carol's ear, her brown eyes turning dark as they filled with lust. Natasha moves back giving the blonde a nod before looking at you, eyes also filled with lust. You glance between them, waiting for one of them to speak.
"How would you like to get out of here?" Carol asked, her eyes trailing up and down your body again, "I uh I'm working right now but I get off in a couple hours" You tell her, shocking yourself from giving into them so quickly, Natasha and Carol look at each before standing, "C'mon" Natasha motions for you to follow them.
They start walking over to the bar, you quickly follow behind them, smiling as a few men, giving some a wink.
"Maria!" Hearing your bosses name bering shouted, you turned head towards the voice and see Natasha and Carol talking to your boss. You watched as Carol grabs your bag from behind the bar, sling it over her shoulder. Maria gives you a smirk, nodding her head before walking away from the couple, helping out a customer. The couple walks back to you, their own smirks plastered on their face.
"Looks like you are free to come with us, pretty girl" Carol tells you, gently grabbing your arm, turning you towards the exit and began walking out, Natasha unlocks the car and opens the door letting you and Carol in the back seat. You couldn’t believe you got in the car with them, you don’t even know that.. that well as least. You have heard of them, who hasn’t. They were the biggest scariest mob bosses in the city, top of the chain, which was pretty good considered they are female and most bosses are known to be male. So them being at the top was certainly something else.
She shuts it and gets in the driver seat, turning on the car and starting to drive. You glance at Carol feeling her hand lay on your thigh, “Where are you guys taking me?” You asked the couple,
“Somewhere private” Carol answers, rubbing her hand up and down your thigh, “I figured that but where?” You asked again.
“You’ll see, baby” She pushes your hair back, giving her a clear view of your neck, leaning forward she plants kisses on it, you shut your eyes close, tilting your head to the side giving her more access.
Feeling her hand travel up to your core, you slowly spread your legs open as much as you could, you felt her smirk against your neck, “Look at you spreading your legs for daddy” She cups your core feeling your wetness seep through tiny thong, “God Nat, she soaked”
Natasha glances in the rear view mirror, practically moaning at the sight of your pussy almost showing behind your thong, “Shit” Natasha mumbles, swerving a little.
“Keep your eyes on the road, babe” Carol tells Natasha rubbing your covered clit, a moan escaping your mouth, you grab her inner thigh and feel something hard in her pants, “Mm do you have a flashlight in there or are you happy to see me, daddy”
“Definitely happy to you see you baby” She lightly nibbles your neck, reaching down to unbutton her pants, she pulls out the fake cock, “Why don’t you make daddy happier and ride my cock” she pulls her hand from between your legs and grabs your hips pulling on her lap causing you to yelp at the unexpected movement.
Grabbing onto her shoulders, your legs sat on each side of hers, your front pressed against the shaft between her legs. Carol cups your cheeks pulling your into a messy kiss, you reached between you two and grab the fake cock, pulling it a little causing Carol to moan in your mouth, you smirk against her lips. Double sided.
You sat up on your knees and angling the shaft to your entrance then slowly sink down on it, you threw your head back as you moaned loudly, “You’re so big, daddy”
“Just wait until you see the one your mommy has on” The blonde tells you, placing her hands on your ass, grabbing it and holding it up as she begins to thrust into you,
“Shit” You gasp, gripping into your shoulders as you bounced on her cock, the feeling of it inside of you, stretching you out almost brought you to an orgasm itself, you love the way it stretched you.
“Such a good girl. ugh I can’t wait to see Nat fill that pussy later with her cum” The blonde moans, feeling the cock inside of her move as she thrust into your wet hole, “you’re gonna be our little cumslut”
You moaned loudly and trying to focus on fucking yourself on her cock. She wraps her hand around your throat and squeezes it “you look so hot taking my cock baby”
Minutes later, Carol moans loudly, gripping your hips harshly while the other squeezes your throat, slamming you up and down her cock, her eyes rolling in the back of her head as she orgasms.
“We’re here” You heard Natasha announce, Carol slows down her thrust causing you to whine as you were just about to cum too, making her slap her hand on your ass, “Be a good girl, baby, or mommy and I won’t let you cum later” She pants letting go of your neck and pulling you up and off her cock before pushing you off of her. She puts the strap back into her pants, buttoning them and getting off the car with Natasha.
You get out of the car, shutting the door and quickly notice they brought you to a motel, a cheap look motel when looking around, following the couple. You tripped over a rock causing Natasha to grab a hold of you,
“Careful, pretty girl” Natasha grabs your arm keeping you steady, you blushed and let her help you to the door of the room that Carol had already opened waiting for you too. You both walk in, your eyes traveling the whole room. Natasha steps in front of you, looking deep into your eyes.
Not waiting another second, Natasha pulls you into a kiss, her hands reaching behind you and grabbing ahold of your ass, swirling tongue around another. Carol smirks locking the door behind her, watching you and Natasha kiss.
Breaking the kiss, the redhead pants heavily, “On your knees like a good little slut you are” Natasha lets your jaw go, unbuckling her pants and pulling out the fake cock.
You listen getting on your knees in front of her, eyes darting to the strap, your mouth watering noticing which one she had on. Grabbing your hair, she pulls you forward to her cock, “Suck”
Looking into her eyes, you take her cock in your mouth and began to bob your head up and down the strap. Natasha bucks her hips making you gag in the process when it hits the back of your throat. She thrust her hips into you, fucking your face roughly, “my pretty girl taking her mommy’s cock. you were made for this cock, weren’t you whore?”
Nodding around her cock, tears spilled from your eyes, she tangles her fingers thought your hair and grabs it harshly, pulling it as she fucks your face. Carol comes up from behind you, pushing her boot between your legs, lifting it up on its heel, she pushes the top of it into your pussy. You mewl around the cock, grinding your hips in her boot, covering it with your slick.
“Fuck, you are such a slut” Carol purred watching you pathetically fucking yourself on her boot. You moaned, the tip of her bottom flicking your hard bud.
Droll spills come from your mouth as the cock thrust in and out of it, Natasha hisses fucking your faster as she starts to feel herself come close to her climax, watching you fuck yourself on Carol’s cock did a number on her so she’s not surprised at how fast she’s cumming. Reaching down with her free hand, she grabs a remote, puttering her finger on the button, “Gonna cum” She murmured, pushing the button to the strap, cum pouring out of it and filling your mouth as she continues thrusting, shockwaves flows through her body.
When calm, she pulls the cock out of your mouth, letting go of your hair and giving your cheek a little tap, “Bed and on your knees”
Quickly getting off your knees, you crawl into the bed on all fours, Natasha comes from behind you, slapping her hand on your ass, “Such a good girl” She trails on finger down your slit, a whimper coming out of your mouth, “Gonna fill you up so good” She lines the cock towards your entrance and without a warning, slams deep inside you causing a loud gasp to escape your lips.
She spanks your ass hard, leaving a red handprint as she continues pounding into you. “Taking mommy’s cock so well, detka” she cooed reaching around to grab your neck pulling you against her, lightly chocking you while using her other hand to rub your red puffy pussy. You cried out and pushed into her, tears rolling down your cheeks, “harder mommy!”
Gripping your throat more, you smiled moving with her rhythm. “Such a little whore for me, smiling while i choke you, fucking the tears out of you” She whispers in your ear seeing you smile. Thrusting hard into you, you roll your head back on her shoulder.
Seeing Carol get on the bed in front of you both, Natasha release your neck, pushing you down on your hands, “Suck daddy’s cock, baby” She tells you, moving to plant her feet on the bed, her angle changing cause the cock to deepen into your wet hole.
Grabbing your hair, Carol holds her cock out for you and once you opened your mouth, she slams it in your mouth, a gag ripping through you as she fucks your face, her and Natasha creating a rhythm.
The redhead slaps your ass, pounding into you roughly, “Fuck baby, mommy can’t wait to cum in you” She pants, Carol pulls out of you, a line of drool connecting from the strap to your mouth. “You want my cum slut? you want mommy to give you her come, to fuck a baby in you” Natasha grunts pounding in you.
You moaned like crazy as you nod, your hair pulling from Carol’s hands still gripping it, “Yes please mommy, fuck a baby in me!” The burn deep inside of your ready to explode already.
“You heard her, babe. Put a baby in her” Carol slams her cock back into your mouth again, loving the way it gives her that sensation, feeling the cock inside her move causing the brining deep in her lower belly to burn.
“Cum for me slut, cum for mommy” Natasha grumbles, your eyes rolling back as you dissolve into pleasure, shaking and whimpering around the cock in your mouth, you gag feeling Carol sink her cock in, staying still as she cums and Natasha still pounding into, chasing her own orgasm, she grabs the button again and releases her cum in you and helping you ride out your high as well as hers.
Once calm, Carol pulls out the strap out of your mouth, you flop your top half down on the bed, whimper at the movement as Natasha was still in you. Carol gets off the bed, pulling the strap out of her and throwing it on the floor before getting into bed, laying on her side rubbing her hands up and down your back, "You did so good, baby" She kisses the back of your head.
Natasha carefully pulls out of you causing a whimper to break out of you, she watches as her cum leaks out of your hole. Using her two fingers, she pushes it back in before smearing what’s on her fingers all over your pussy. The redhead grabs the plug that laid next to you and pushes it in your hole, giving your ass a small smack, “Can’t have you leaking my cum out” She tells you before she taking off the strap as well letting it fall on the floor then laid down on the other side of you. “Such a good girl” Natasha wipes the tears on your face.
You groan lifting your body up and turns around to lay on your back, you sigh staying quiet for a minute before speaking, “I can't believe you guys brought me to a motel"
"You said this was your fantasy!" Carol defends, you roll your eyes at her, "Yeah, a few months ago when we started dating" You tell her, "Who's idea was it?" You asked your girlfriends, seeing Carol give Natasha a pointed look, you turned your head to look at her.
"Like your daddy said, it was a fantasy of yours" The redhead says, shrugging as she wraps her arm around your naked body, your turn your body to the side, shuffling your back against her front, “Well I can’t complain because that was the best sex ever, plus you guys bailed me out” You tell them, grabbing Natasha’s hand and kissing her knuckles,
“Thank you by the way and I’m sorry I couldn’t be with you on Valentine’s day” You apologize to them, you hadn’t wanted to leave them but your old boss had called desperately needing all the girls she’s can get, even though you didn’t work for her anymore, you couldn’t say no. Maria has helped you a lot and was always there for you.
“Don’t apologize, baby” Carol shuffles closer to you, reaching out and stoking your cheek with the back of her index finger, “Besides, we have you now and that’s all the matters” Natasha voiced.
“Well thank you again” You say, leaning forward and pecking Carol’s lips before turning your head back and doing the same to Natasha, “Happy Valentine’s day”
“Happy Valentine’s day, my loves” Carol smiles brightly at you and Natasha, the redhead kisses your head, “Happy Valentine’s day” She looks up at Carol through her eyelashes.
You sigh in happiness, closing your eyes as you feel the warmth of their bodies on yours, “Love you both”
“We love you too, sweet angel” Carol brushes the hair off of your face, you smile as you wrap your arm around her waist, holding her close to your front. This was the best Valentine’s day ever.

I missed you...so much
Tumblr media
Y/N, second son of Lord Henry L/N and Lady Katherine Poole, was destined to have a very uninteresting life. As a second son, no one expected much of him, aside from his mother.
Lady Katherine used her influence over her husband, convincing him to send Y/N to Winterfell, to serve the Stark family.
Y/N followed his mother's wishes, understanding that this was his opportunity to succeed in life.
On the day of his departure only his mother and a few of her trusted ladies bid him farewell. His father and brother didn't even bothered showing up.
“Do not fret my son, for you are destined to do great things.”
Arriving at Winterfell Y/N was happily greeted by the Stark family. Lady Catelyn was a very dear friend of Y/N's mother, and so she made sure Y/N was treated fairly in his new home.
Although Y/N was supposed to serve the Starks he was very much treated as one of them. He would train with the Stark brothers and spend numerous hours bonding with the Stark sisters.
All of them liked him, in their own way. Y/N became a valuable part of the family, sometimes even mediating conflicts between them.
“Hah! I told you I was right!”
“That's not fair, Sansa!”
“You're just saying that because Y/N took my side!”
Y/N had watched the Starks grow up, seing boys turn into handsome men and girls turn into beautiful ladies.
There was a Stark who he couldn't get enough of, the bastard of Winterfell himself, Jon Snow.
Jon and Y/N had history, growing up they often found themselves in eachother’s bed. As young boys they explored their bodies and even had sex a couple of times.
And now, as grown men, they didn’t stop.
“I want you Y/N, today at the dead of night....expect a visitor.”
But things had to change, King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei arrived at Winterfell bering news. King Robert asked Ned to become Hand of the King, Ned agreed.
Y/N insisted in going with Lord Stark, which he did, Sansa and Arya were very much delighted.
Shortly after landing in King’s Landing, Y/N received a letter from Jon.
My dearest Y/N
I’m writing this letter to inform you that I’m leaving Winterfell to start my enlistment in the Night’s Watch at Wall, although we may be apart my heart will always be with you.
Your devoted lover, Jon Snow
After getting in a small fight with Jaime and his men, Lord Stark is taken care of by Y/N
“You do not need to do this, Y/N.”
“It is my duty, Lord Stark, now please rest.”
King Robert forced Lord Stark to make peace with the Lannisters, however Lord Stark couldn’t stand the injustices being carried on by the Lannisters and issued orders that caused troubles between the two houses.
Amid the danger, Lord Stark decided to send his daughters and Y/N back to Winterfell, however Sansa refused to leave and so did Y/N. He was their to serve them and so he would.
After learning the truth about Cersei’s children, Lord Stark confronts her. With the death of King Robert, the Starks position in King’s Landing became precarious.
Y/N watched as his friends were taken into custody and Joffrey, now King started his rule, influenced by his mother.
It is in custody that Lord Stark calls for Y/N.
“Y/N, my boy, dark times are coming. Flee while you can, save yourself from the Lannisters’ claws.”
“Where should I go my Lord?”
“Go to the Wall, I know you and Jon care for eachother. He will protect you.”
Y/N followed Lord Stark’s advice and started his journey for the Wall.
After much fight to protect his life, Y/N finally made it. He was thrilled by it, he finally could reunite with his lover.
“Y-Y/N, I already know what happened, I’m so glad you’re safe.”
“I missed you so much, Jon.”
Let’s just say Y/N and Jon didn’t leave Jon’s chambers for a while.

Bering/Wells of course for the ship ask meme!!
oh boy 😅
Thank you for asking! First off, yes, I ship them, of course I ship them, I don't ship anyone the way I ship them. They are my true OTP, my One True Pairing; no other ship, not even any other couple I named in the context of this ask, comes anywhere near.
Like, with other couples it's usually a "I like them together, they make sense together, but I can also ship them with someone else if/when I think that other person also makes sense."
Not so with these two. No one but each other for these two, in my mind. Like yes, they might have had previous relationships; canon tells us that Myka had Sam and I honor that. But present and future, only ever Helena for her, or no one.
And canon is silent on whether Helena had any more serious relationships than what Wooly called "charmed the men of London" - I tend towards no, in my headcanon, or at most she fell in love with someone in her late teens or early twenties and it didn't work out (maybe because that someone was also a woman, and/or didn't return Helena's feelings), and that was it. She got her heart broken and decided to not give it to anyone else I can see her have dalliances mostly based on mutual sexual attraction, because she does speak of many lovers, but I don't think there were serious relationships among them, not even with whoever was Christina's father - she never mentions him, after all.
And I can see her approach Myka the same way, at first. Just a dalliance, and a means to an end. And then her heart is like "no but I *like* this one," and runs away from her and towards Myka, and she has no hope of stopping it, blasted thing.
And Myka? Oh her heart is all over the place. She guards it well, too, that's clear from the very beginning of the show, right? That is a big part of her characterization. And okay, yes, she's become friends with Pete, and has grown fond of Claudia, and Leena, and hell even grumpy Artie who's technically her boss. But she knows how badly losing someone hurts, and she never ever wants to feel that again.
And Helena is a bad guy, after all! Even if she's also the author (or ideas-giver) of Myka's favorite books. Even if she's also this beautiful, competent woman. Even if she's flirting with Myka, trying to connect with her, build rapport - I'm sure Myka is seeing that. I'm sure everything within her tells her to stay guarded!
But she can't help it either. Can't help her heart running towards this person, who yanks her up into the skies and infuriates her and who is so, so lonely - who if not Myka understands loneliness in the middle of a crowd?
When I watched For The Team for the first time, I got whammied.
I can't call it anything else; I never FELT anything else. I have never before, in no other show, or movie, or book, encountered a couple that I *shipped* - I didn't even know the word! (I wasn't socialized in fandom, that's what I call it; at most I knew that Trekkies existed and considered myself one of them, but it was only ever a solitary experience, and so I had no vocabulary; I just knew that these two suddenly had all my feels and daydreams in a chokehold.)
And it hasn't stopped. Hasn't even waned. The show's been off the air for ten years now and still, *still*, these two occupy my brain to a worrisome degree. Whenever I see a romantic storyline, I look at it for Bering and Wells AU potential. I spawn WIPs and story ideas at an alarming rate. And I don't see that ever changing, and I'm glad about it.
I love them, your honor.

(I also love this beautiful little fandom, but that's another essay!)

Many people have fixed in their minds an image of the Arctic Circle. It is a harsh and dangerous place, covered with a thick layer of snow, the people there are desperate, few of them and they are friends with the bears. But what is really going on there, in the land of permafrost?
Why do people live there if it is so cold and harsh?
Tumblr media
It was the opportunity to earn money that made many people move beyond the Arctic Circle. Today the inhabitants of the Far North receive supplements to their wages, which are called polar explorers.
The prerequisite for getting the polar bonus is the length of residence in the Far North. An employee coming to work from a warm land will have to make do with a single salary at first. Nothing extra is accrued for one-time payments like holiday bonuses.
What North is considered the Far North?
The Far North in Russia is the territory located beyond the Arctic Circle. It includes all the islands of the Arctic Ocean, as well as the islands of the Bering and Okhotsk Seas. It includes Murmansk and Magadan Regions, Chukotka and Nenets Autonomous Regions, and Kamchatka Territory.
How do people live?
Tumblr media
The life of people depends on the weather.
In the North there is a concept of an "active day" when it is forbidden to go out because of frost or strong winds.
Every schoolboy's morning begins with listening to the radio: they announce the same "activations".
Students study in all kinds of weather, and working people work.
Tumblr media
All these disadvantages are not felt so much, as the air is dry and it is quite real to move around the streets, the main thing is to dress warmly.
Worse with airports: store shelves can be completely empty if "the airport is running on actual weather," which in Nordic terms means: "The weather is not flying, waiting for supplies."
In the Far North, all food is imported, so food prices are very high compared to other regions. The markup on fruits and vegetables is simply cosmic.
But there are also good local products: dairy products, bread, meat and fish. Hunters and fishermen are the people who will not let an ordinary resident of the North die of hunger. They do not depend on airports. If food is not delivered from the sky, i.e. airports are closed, the residents immediately switch to everything local.
Is it possible to drive a car?
As the northerners say, you can leave your car at home - it's hard to find it later. If the temperature drops below -40 ... -45 ° C, the engines simply do not turn off: the cars are running and waiting.
Tumblr media
*When you digged someone else's car
The panacea is a heated garage, but not everyone has this luxury. If a driver hasn't prepared his car for winter and it breaks down somewhere on the highway, he will have to make a fire from the seats and eat snow. Joke. Surely other drivers will stop to help. The responsiveness of northerners is not a stereotype, but a habit to survive in harsh conditions.
Tumblr media
There is enough transport in the North. But for everyday life it is better to choose a car with big wheels: the roads can be very badly covered with snow.
Winter comes, a long night comes.
During the polar night it is useless to look out the window: it is still impossible to determine the time of day. So it is recommended to have a watch with you. The sun comes out for a couple of hours a day and weakly tries to shine through the fog, the rest of the time it is dark. But this darkness on the streets is not frightening: there is a lot of white snow around, in which the streetlights are displayed. Romantic, in general, but it is better to look at this beauty from a warm house.
Tumblr media
And then comes the polar day.
The advertised white nights of St. Petersburg can never compare to the white nights at the Arctic Circle, where the sun never sets in the summer.
You can only sleep with the blinds closed or with a blindfold over your eyes. By the way, in summer, people become more active and sociable.
Tumblr media
Children can safely be outside at 2-3 in the morning, families walk at that time with small children in strollers. And all because it's sunny!
Summer is an unpredictable thing.
If you go to work in the morning in a sweater, in the evening you can already walk around in a light shirt. June morning +7 ° C in the afternoon may turn into +27 ° C, and in the evening again falls to the usual +7 ° C. So a summer coat is absolutely normal. It may snow in the summer. And the fact that it may not melt by summer is completely normal.
Tumblr media
*Children in Norilsk on their summer break
But sometimes in the summer it is so hot that people go to the beach, to the shore of their cold river. As the northerners say, you can swim before it gets hard.
People in the North have really long vacations. Sometimes even four months.
Residents of the Far North have a number of advantages compared to the rest of Russia: the wage increment, vacation twice as much - at least 2 months a year.
But to leave the North is a big problem. It is possible to get to the Big Land only by plane. "Air tickets" - how much pain there is in this word. To get to where you want to go, you still have to fly to any big city first and plan how to go from there.
That's why vacation days in the North are allowed to save up. Many people take 2-3 years' vacation and are absent from work for 4-6 months at a time. To learn how to work during this time is quite real. It's not 10 days at the sea and back to the office.
There are no trees (and no mosquitoes or snakes!)
Ordinary trees, so habitual to any inhabitant of the south or middle zone of Russia, are absent here. Few plants can adapt to the conditions of permafrost. This is the tundra.
Northern Lights do exist and locals observe them quite often.

9 people you want to know better
@purlturtle thanks for the tag ❤️
Last Song: Currently playing Empress by Snow Patrol, and before that so the technical ‘last song’ was Shelter from the Storm by Bob Dylan (I have iTunes on shuffle). The last song I specifically selected was probably Keeping Secrets off the Star Trek musical soundtrack.
Currently watching: Erm oh so many things. My watchlist is stupid. I have 13 shows that I just watch during the two evenings a week mum visits. I have a ton more that I am attempting to watch by myself. I finished The Mandalorian Season 3 last night and I’m counting down to Ahsoka next Wednesday.
Seriously it’s the sheer length of my watchlist which is why it’s been like 6 years and I’ve still not watched all of Star Trek. The shows are in various stages and it bugs me as I love to rewatch. Like Voyager I want to rewatch episodes but I haven’t gone all the way through yet /sigh. I think I need to start targeting TV the way I have shifted to targeting video games. I was notorious for starting and never finishing. So I am making myself play one game (and only one) and getting 100%/Platinum/near enough before I can play anything else.
Current obsession: Hmm interesting. Two schools of thought on this. One is fandom in which case I think my brain is currently kinda split between Star Trek and Star Wars. I am bouncing between SNW’s crew (and that infuriating cliffhanger finale), Seven, Raffi, B’elanna, Kira, Jadzia etc. Then Star Wars - my beloved Rebels, the Ghost crew. Sabine, Hera and of course Ahsoka. That’s not to say my other fandom obsessions have gone. I will forever love say Bering and Wells 😉 but while I can think about more than one thing at once, thinking about obsessions is usually how I keep it to two or maybe even one! thought to try and quiet my otherwise crazy mind. Hence my obsession focus takes turns.
Buuuuut I said there were two schools of thought. The other one is my deep and eternal love for story and my desire to improve my skills in telling it. Everyday I want to work on writing and on art. A lot of the time health doesn’t permit but I am always thinking about it (obsessing about it). I have my dream of where I want my skills to be one day. It’s always a good day if I feel like I made some kind of micro-step towards progress. A lot of days even if I do work on art/writing I feel demoralised like I am getting nowhere, or nowhere fast enough. But everyday I dream and I hope. It’s been the driving force of my life. You are the one that said “small steppy is better than no steppy” to me, and I repeat that to myself daily in the hope my recalcitrant brain will get the message. I am trying, and I am trying to make that enough.
Tagging is scary which is dumb because I really like it when people tag me. Maybe a couple of people. @tinknevertalks, @little-inkstone, @thisgirlshouldbeworking, @urban-trek-thru-middle-earth only if you want. No pressure just fun.

Bering and Wells Reunion Panel Transcription (4/17/2021)
This is from the ClexaCon Virtual panel with Joanne Kelly and Jaime Murray, with Dana Piccoli as moderator and Mark as ASL interpreter. I spent around six hours on this and there were really only a couple of brief bits I couldn’t make out - I tried to make this as thorough as possible even though the audio quality was iffy at points and there was a lot of overlapping talking. I also included all of the ums and uhs in the interest of thoroughness so sorry if that gets annoying. Let me know if I’ve gotten any screen names wrong.
Content notes: brief discussion of on-set injury, allusions to homophobia from higher-ups, discussions of hostile workplace experiences due to gender, brief discussion of the ovarian cancer subplot, Jo misgenders Mark once and then corrects herself.
Dana: And I think we are live! Hey everyone, welcome, welcome, this is day 2 of ClexaCon Virtual. So glad to be here with you for our Warehouse 13 Bering and Wells panel. What a great video! I believe that was Mal that made that. Fantastic work! [They showed a fanvid prior to the panel on the stream.] Uh, I want to take a second to introduce Mark, our ASL interpreter. Thank you so much for being here, Mark. Well, I know that the Bering and Wells fandom is still going strong and, um, I’m so excited to be able to present this panel to you today, so without further ado, let’s get started. It’s been seven years since we last embarked on the wonderfully quirky world of Warehouse 13 and we’re thrilled to have not one, but two of the show’s stars here with us, Bering and Wells in the flesh, please welcome Joanne and Jaime!
Jo: [laughs] Hi!
Jaime: Hi guys!
Dana: Hi!
Jaime: Oh my goodness, I was tearing up watching that, that was just...
Dana: It’s so good, right?
Jaime: And Mal made it, of course, I mean just, the fandom is so amazing, that we have a fan who made that amazing movie, and I’m sitting here... were you tearing up, Jo?
Jo: Yeah... [laughs]
Dana: She’s like, I can’t talk right now!
Jaime: Aww.
Jo: Yeah, it’s, you know, it’s like, it’s like a, a wormhole, it’s like going in a wormhole, really, to see that put together in that way, and just, that somebody did that is, um, crazy, wonderful.
Jaime: Yeah.
Dana: When, when we are in person in, uh, in, in Las Vegas, I’m often backstage with the actors as they see these videos maybe f- for the first time, and your reaction is the reaction that everyone has. They all get teary, they all just like hold onto each other, it’s, it’s really sweet and wonderful.
Jaime: Oh my gosh, I, I wish I could go back in time and like, we film more of it and, and enjoy it more, because sometimes when you’re in it, you’re just going so fast and, you know, you don't even realize the meaning of, of, of what you’ve created until you see it through the eyes of the fans and what it meant to them, and then I, I wish I could lean into it more. [laughs]
Dana: Well, we’re certainly gonna get into that. [laughs]
Jaime: [laughs]
Dana: Alright, well, let’s kick things off! Uh, as of a we- a week ago, I was prepping to interview Jaime, and then suddenly the heavens opened up, and what was one became two. [they laugh] Joanne joined the party! How did this crazy kismet even happen?
Jo: I’m trying this new thing where I say yes. [laughs]
Jaime: [laughs] Well done!
Jo: Thanks. [laughs] Um, it’s a new thing I’m trying. Um, Jaime texted me and she’s like, I'm doing this thing, we had talked about it, I think the last panel we did at Dragon*Con maybe?
Jaime: Yeah.
Dana: 2018.
Jo: And she had told me about ClexaCon and I was like, that, because I really enjoyed that panel that we did, it felt, you know, I think one of the reasons, and I think that the work between us is, and I look at it now and I’m so touched because I, and I also just think the world of Jaime as an actor, I think she’s brilliant and her choices are so clean and-
Jaime: Ditto.
Jo: -full heart forward, like I, I’ve always been a fan of what she bought, and just personally on set I was in a, it was a very male environment, and Jaime came and I was like, oh my god, like, someone to talk to, someone who cared, and she took care of me, like she really - so I just, I don’t know, when she reached out I was like, of course, yes, yes.
Dana: Like it’s in two days, sure! Let’s, let’s go!
Jaime: We missed each other as well. It was also an opportunity to hang out, like, we missed each other!
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: We had this flurry of texts of like, checking in with each other, and what-
Jo: What have you been watching? what are you doing?
Jaime: Yeah.
Jo: Where are you?
Jaime: Yeah, so.
Dana: Oh, that’s amazing! So you’ve maintained this really wonderful friendship since, since the end of the show.
Jo: Yeah, I mean, actors are nomads and we’re very sort of, I feel, Jaime, I don’t know if you feel the same way, but it’s like those friends that you have that you don’t see forever, but when you see them you fall back into a rhythm automatically, there’s never, it doesn’t feel push or pulled, it’s just, it’s just nice.
Jaime: I, I think also for us, um, I think there’s a sisterhood as well, you know, I think that, you know, Jo just touched on it. You know, often in a cast there’s, um, it’s changing and it’s evolving all the time, and this was seven years ago, and it was seven years before that, it started, so like fourteen years ago-
Jo: Oh my god. [laughs]
Jaime: But there’s, ninety nine point five percent of the people behind the camera are men, the majority of the parts are often men, or it’s, it’s male and women, but the men have the more heroic bits and the funnier lines and you’re kind of struggling with that and you’re glad to be working so you’re kind of making good and making it okay, but you’re kind of like, you know, getting feels, and, you know, as, as Joanne said, it, you know, you’re laughing at dick jokes when you don’t find them particularly funny- [all laugh]
Jo: Like wow! Oh! [sarcastic thumbs up]
Jaime: And so when I came in, I saw Jo - I had been on shows, like I was on a show called Hustle, I was the only girl in the cast, and then everybody, uh, behind the camera was, um, all men. Um, on Warehouse we had one female writer on some episodes, um, we never had a fe- uh, um, a female director on anything or a producer-
Jo: No we had, we had Tawn- [presumably about to mention Tawnia McKiernan] we had two fem- we had a few, but we were-
Jaime: No- no- not on my, not on my episodes.
Jo: Oh, on yours.
Jaime: But it was just like, I came in and I saw Jo and I understood, and I knew what her experience was, and so there was this kind of kinhood, this sisterhood, and I think it, it’s not a male-female thing, but it’s, it’s a minority and majority thing. When you’re in a minority and the majority is doing something, you either have to get down with the program and go with that flow, or you get kind of fe- you feel like you’re difficult or annoying to everybody. And I kind of came in and I just was like, oh like, I get it, it’s hard, and I’m gonna give this woman, like, my, my energy and my love and, so it was-
Dana: So you were like I- you looked at Joanne and you were like, that is someone I can smash the patriarchy with!
Jaime: [laughs] Yes.
Dana: Let’s do it!
Jo: No, I read a lot of books [laughs] when we weren’t filming. I would like get on my chair and just be like this. [mimes holding book in front of face]
Jaime: Yes!
Jo: [laughs] Like I’m doing this now, I’ll see you guys when we’re rolling again, you know, it was really- and, but also, you know, it’s so, and it is changing, it’s changing and evolving in a really, um, at a wonderful rate, but also I would get so excited to be in a scene with another woman that wasn’t about a man, you know, or that we weren’t- uh, it was just so nice to have girl-girl scenes. That never happens, it hardly ever happens. Like, the majority of scenes that you do are about love or acrimony with men, um, and it’s so nice to have a relationship with a woman that’s, um, sort of reflective of how relationships with women actually are. Um, I’ve been, I shifted into writing because of frustration with just not reading stories that I felt were reflective of our, my experience as a woman, you know, that sort of, um, and I think that Bering and Wells sort of in, I mean, that’s when that ship turned for me, as well.
Dana: Well ho- hold that thought, we are, we are going there!
Jaime: And, and also because it wasn’t, it actually wasn’t written. Um, there was, in a way we were able to steer that ship, and then we’d already kind of given a road map for the way this energy was, so it wasn’t written in the conventional way. Like, even like, when a, when a, when a, when a woman will have a love interest it’s, it’s often written by men and it’s o- often in a conventional kind of way, whereas our relationship, at a time before people were even kind of, uh, exploring this that much, um, now, now much more, thank god, it’s more, more inclusive. But it was more kind of, um, uh, complicated than, than maybe would’ve been written about, so it was given more nuance, yeah.
Jo: You mean like, do you mean like actual relationships? [laughs]
Jaime: You what? Say that again?
Jo: Like actual relationships! [laughs]
Jaime: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [laughs]
Jo: You know, that don’t come in and you have a “where they start and where they finish,” like that we, oh, we know where they’re gonna end up so we’ll just gonna-
Dana: Right, right.
Jo: -move them around like chess pieces. It was actually an energy that Jaime and I created, and the story sort of evolved from that energy as - it was inside out as opposed to outside in, which I think made it a real relationship.
Dana: Well, so my friend Dorthy Snarker, she once said that HG and Myka’s storyline has been main text pretending to be subtext, which feels really apt to me.
Jaime: Yeah!
Dana: So at what point-
Jo: Very smart.
Dana: What point in the show did it really click with the two of you that this connection that HG and Myka shared was something much deeper?
Jo: Jaime just had, Jaime, you just explained this very coolly in, in, um-
Jaime: One of our chats.
Jo: Yeah, yeah. Why don’t you speak to this, why don’t you take this?
Jaime: Well, well, first of all like I said, there was like kind of this sisterhood when I came in and, um, Jo, uh, Jo wasn’t like, like it wasn’t like I came in and she was like hey let’s be friends. I came in and she was behind a book, and she wasn’t particularly accessible, and she wasn’t, like, she was a bit grumpy, you know. And so I was like, my personality type is like, how do I crack this nut? [laughs] How do I make this woman love me? [laughs] This is the most unaccessible woman-
Dana: That explai- Jaime that explains a lot! [laughs]
Jaime: This is the most unaccessible women on the set, the mo- the most unaccessible human to me. How do I make her fall in love with me? So it’s like partly my narcissism-
Jo: [laughs] Jaime Murray in a nutshell, everyone!
Jaime: -and my ego, um, so I was kind of winning her over off set, and then, you know, as she was opening up to me and, you know, she was kind of telling me about some of the challenges she was coming up against, I was like, yeah, that’s, that’s not fair, and yeah, I completely get that, you know. So we were kind of like having that kind of journey, I’m like, like, I’m like, oh no, you’re not crazy, everyone else is crazy! Like, let’s smash the patriarchy!
Jo: [laughs]
Jaime: And then, and then unfortunately, um, Jo hurt herself really badly doing a stunt, and, um, you know, there’s no time to hurt yourself on a film set, and there’s no time to take time and, and kind of heal your back or anything like that. So she was taking some pretty strong painkillers and she was working through it, and I had spinal surgery, I, I know what back pain is like, it’s, it’s the worst. I mean, it’s literally everything, you know, you feel like an old person. And so I was, um, taking care of her as best as I could, and we had the scene, and it was the scene in the street where, I, I think it's the first scene that, where I get the grappler out-
Dana: Oh, the grappler.
Jaime: And I shoot it into the air and I put my arm around her and we shoot up-
Dana: We’re very familiar with this scene. [laughs]
Jo: [doing grappler motion] [laughs]
Jaime: Yeah, so, so it’s like, it had like, physicality, and also it was a really, um, we always laugh that Toronto has about five seasons in one day, so you’ll like start shooting the scene and then suddenly there’s a, like a snowstorm! Bright sunshine!
Jo: Then it’s sunny! Then rain!
Jaime: Torrential rain, wind - and it was one of those, and we had to move to a new location, we were really behind in the day, and she had this one pice of hair that kept on like blowing in her face-
Dana: Oh, I know where this is going, Jaime. [laughs]
Jaime: And she was, the thing was, she was like, also these painkillers-
Jo: I was like, I can’t even see with the hair, I was like, I was hopped up on so many painkillers...
Jaime: Yeah, she was hopped up, she was like, I can’t even get my hair out of the way!
Jo: I think I actually called that day, it was the only time where I was like, guys I can’t work anymore, like, I literally, the doctor was like, you need to rest and I’m like I can’t. And the first AD came over to me and he was like, you’re gonna have to say stop, because nobody is gonna stop the filming, and I didn't wanna do that because you don't want to be the person that, that loses the day.
Jaime: That’s part of it, isn’t it? You’re, you can’t be, you can’t have any vulnerability or be a woman in any way, any shape or form on a film set. [laughs]
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: So I knew in the morning, and so I’d been like trying to take care of her and had, had like this experience of having spinal surgery, so I was like caretaking as much, as best as I could. I’m a Cancerian as well, so it’s in my nature.
Dana: Sure.
Jaime: And, um, and we‘re in this scene and we’d had to kind of cut so many times, and this hair just kind of-
Jo: [laughs]
Jaime: -came over her face like this, and I just lent forward and on my line I just moved the hair out of her, um, face and put it back, and there was this, this look of genuine-
Jo: [laughs]
Jaime: -surprise and shock in her face because we hadn’t rehearsed it and, and, and you know, we rehearse everything, and then, and then Joanne, what did you say that you-
Jo: I said I had this feeling, you know, when she did that I was like, oooh, um, what’s happening? [laughs]
Dana: [laughs]
Jaime: What are these feelings I’m having?
Jo: I did not expect all these feelings.
Jaime: Someone is being nice to me in this hostile world!
Jo: I was like this is so, it was like, pink light came up and there was glitter all of a sudden, and a unicorn in the back and, um-
Dana: Yep.
Jaime: They were really good drugs, you can’t, they’re illegal now, you can’t get them now cause they’re illegal now, but-
Jo: [laughs] No, no! But that point I’d say that the storyline really developed from inside out, you know outside, it was actually something, she did something that made me respond in a certain way, and as an actor you have those openings and you can choose to go, you either close them, like if, if I don’t like an actor [laughs] and someone does something, I might go like, no, I don’t wanna gonna go with that- [laughs]
Jaime: Yeah.
Jo: -and change the track, but because I love Jaime and, and that happened, I sort of just was like I’m gonna go with this energy and see where it leads. And so it was a very organic, and it took me completely, and I had not expected it, it took me completely- but I liked it, so I started, then that...
Dana: So you are the reason, you two are the captains of the Bering and Wells ship. You made that happen!
Jaime: Yeah.
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: But also I felt like HG, you know, she came from an era when the suffragette movement was, um, happening, and she was active in that, however, she had to write under her brother’s name, um-
Dana: Yeah.
Jaime: And as a woman, you know, she couldn’t be even open about her brilliance and she had to let her dimwitted brother take credit for it, and then she was frozen. So she was an activist before her time and suddenly she’s waking up in a world where there’s this dynamic woman, gun-toating woman kind of using her wits and brainpower and like, god bless Pete [laughs] but he was a little bit, like, she was the brains and the brilliance, and often he would be kind of like, you know, taking the credit for it or like having the girls flirt with him, and I just felt like if I grow up, if I woke up from, you know, a dream of, of being a suffragette and I woke up and I saw Myka, surely I would be more fascinated-
Jo: [laughs]
Jaime: -by this woman who is everything that I had ever wished to be, so I started playing off this fascina- I was fascinated by her. Pete was just as stupid as my brother. [laughs]
Jo: And I do have to say, I do have to give the showrunner Jack Kenny credit here too, because Jack really let us run with it and started to lean into it, and the writers were all very accepting, so it was, and, and Jack particularly, you know, we had a lot, we had our creative differences, but he was really generous in this storyline with us, like I think, he gave us a lot of rope to play with-
Jaime: Yeah.
Jo: And it was interesting rope, because they never-
Dana: It was attached to a grappling hook is what it was!
Jo: Yeah, and they never, like what i really loved about it is the never like put it on the nose it was always very elliptical, we always had room to breathe, um-
Jaime: Well partly I don’t, I think that it was, it was, it’s funny to talk about it now because it doesn't seem that long a- long ago, but it-
Jo: But it was so long ago...
Jaime: -it was unusual-
Jo: For that.
Jaime: -for the genre and for the audience that we were going for to, to actually go there, um,
Dana: Yeah. Seven years ago, you’re absolutely right. Things have changed tremendously, and especially in the last five years.
Jo: Yeah, yeah.
Jaime: And, but I think that Jack and Drew, they were kind of excited about what we were doing, but actually, you know, we weren't sure what the network would say or what the advertisers might think, and so, um, you know, I’m really proud of the work that we were able to, to say-
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: You know, being the first in some ways.
Jo: It’s interesting, you know, like Jaime texted me, she sent me this video and I was looking at it and I was just so proud-
Jaime: I sent you Mal’s video, I sent you one of Mal’s other videos.
Jo: She’s wonderful, so like shoutout to her!
Jaime: Yeah
Jo: That’s, yeah, it was gorgeous, and I was really proud of the work, you know, after, it’s, you create these things in a bubble and, I haven’t se- I haven’t seen Warehouse, I never watched it. [laughs] so I’m always very surprised to see these videos, it feels like I’m cracking open-
Jaime: And I want to say as well, you know, when we say we haven’t down and watched all the shows, or you know, in some peoples’ cases, many of the shows, you know, it’s, it’s not because we don’t love the show and we don't love the work that everyone else has done, done, it’s actually a lot of actors don't watch, um, their own work. It’s, if, if you’ve ever heard your own voice on an answer phone or something and you're like, who’s that? Oh my god, that’s me!
Dana: [laughs]
Jaime: Like, so when you see yourself on TV or screen it’s like that on crack, it’s absolutely terrifying, and, and you’re like oh my god, like behind a pillow, like-
Jo: Filled with self loathing and despair. [laughs]
Jaime: Yes.
Dana: That’s okay.
Jaime: Which is a work in progress, Im trying to deal with that now.
Dana: Well, when, at what point did you realize that queer people were actually starting to flock to the show to support this direction with these characters?
Jaime: We, we didn't know, we didn’t know-
Dana: No?
Jaime: Well, we, um, I, um, Jo’s not on social media so I don’t know when she knew, other than maybe when I told her. I saw replies on twitter-
Jo: Comic Con.
Dana: Somebody didn’t like hire a plane and like, around the area with like, a Bering and Wells forever…?
Jo: I, I remember, I remember going to Comic Con, for me because that’s’ when I had the fan interaction, um, because I wasn’t on Twitter-
Jaime: Yeah, there were fans that told us.
Jo: And, and, uh, a lot of the women, I remember being asked some very specific questions during panels, and, you know, there's a lot of guys who like to talk at those panel so I didn’t get to talk a lot but I made it quite, I, I made it quite clear about how important that storyline was to me and it, it, I realized very quickly that it was important to a lot more women than me. I didn’t really realize, too, that storytelling wasn’t represented in that way, at that point, you know. I didn’t feel that. I didn’t feel like that was a groundbreaking choice, to choose to be attracted to a woman in a scene to me is life, it’s how I live my life, I, I’m you know, I don’t have those, I’m not in a box [laughs] and it so when I realized, it was a eye-opening moment. I’m like, I’m like, wait, wait, this is, this is something new that’s not being done?
Dana: You guys were kind of on, you were like right here [miming going up a hill or mountain] and then shortly after Warehouse, it started going like [woosh noise of going down the other side of the hill] and this wave of representation started happening.
Jaime: Well, ev- even in Warehouse, there was an openly gay character in, in Warehouse.
Dana: Right, yes!
Jo: Yeah, yeah, there was Aaron.
Jaime: But it’s been, it’s been incredibly, um, powerful for, for, for, for me, um, you know, I I, think that a lot of people, some people are like oh my god, you know, I wish I could go back to my childhood or my teenage years, I, you could not pay me anything for, I would not go back to my teenage years for love or money. It was, it was a incredibly painful time for me, um, and not a particularly happy time for me, and, um, you know, just awkwardness, you know, all the stuff that, you know, all the stuff people feel in their teens, all the bad stuff I felt in my teens, so when I’ve spoken to people at conventions, um, and they've’ spoken to me about, um, Warehouse having, and our relationship in Warehouse having a positive effect for them in their teen, in their painful teenage years, it’s, it, it, it can bring me to tears, because i- if I could have imagined having kind of that, some kind of impact when I’d been a teenager maybe I wouldn't have been so miserable, but, um, I’m really humbled by it. it’s really lovely.
Dana: Yeah, you, you most certainly have had a tremendous impact on a lot of peoples’ lives and I’m so glad that you are able to take that and keep it in your heart.
Jaime: Yeah.
Dana: Speaking of this kind of sea change of the last few years, do you think that if Warehouse had been airing now that things might have ended differently? Do you think that maybe that subtext really would have been pulled much more into main text?
Jaime: You’d know better, Jo.
Jo: I...don’t know the answer to that question, um, perhaps, actually, absolutely! It’s twenty twenty-
Jaime: If we were writing it, maybe.
Jo: I mean, that’s what I’m trying to do. [laughs] Um, yeah, I think so. Maybe we would have been able to lean more into that storyline, um-
Jaime: Maybe we would’ve had a, be a stronger voice in shaping the narrative there.
Jo: It, yeah, I mean, Jack was, Jack was great about it, but it, it was a different, it was a different era. I think now is, is really a beautiful time for storytelling in the sense that it is really becoming so much more inclusive and we have representation, which, I mean, seeing ourselves represented in stories is how we understand ourselves in the world, and that’s, it’s so important, you know, it’s so important where we’re going, um, and I wish there could have been more of that in Warehouse, but I’m glad there was what there was.
Dana: Yeah.
Jaime: I, I, I also think that, um, you know, it’s changed so much in just such a short space of time, but particularly in the last couple of years, like, women were always, um, portrayed like, like, women always had to be perfect and kind of cute, and, you know, there had to be kind of something attractive or charming about them at all times, you know, and so we always had to put a bow on a woman to make her acceptable. And one of the things that I’m really loving is, you know, that women can be flawed and they can still, you can still love them and, you know, one of the things that always stun- stunned me is that I’ve been so welcomed into a community of kind, inclusive, um, you know, powerful activist, um, women, uh, um, and I’m like, why do these amazing women even like my characters when I’ve played such, um, a bad character, and it’s like-
Dana: But, but we love that! Queer women love a villain!
Jaime: Well, it’s like, flawed characters, and it’s like, and then recently I watched this show called, um, I hate Suzie Pickles [actual title of show: I Hate Suzie], um, there’s a show called, um, uh, I May Destroy You. They’re British shows, actually, both are.
Dana: Oh, yeah, it’s so good.
Jaime: And they, these are complex, um, women who make bad choices, and they self sabotage and they do things that are kind of frowned upon in society, and yet I love them, these women, and it’s like, if I can love these women for all their flaws, then maybe I'm okay too. And I think that we, we have to allow women to be flawed and lovable instead of just being cute little heroines that kind of support men at all times. I mean, it’s changed so much, that’s kind of, like the old, the old order of what it used to be, like, but yeah, it’s exciting.
Dana: That happe- That was what was written in my yearbook! Just, Dana Piccoli, flawed but lovable.
Jaime: Ah! [laughs]
Dana: So I totally, I totally can appreciate that.
Jaime: Was it that? Was it- that would be the best!
Dana: [laughs] I love that.
Jaime: Flawed and lovable, not but.
Dana: Oh yeah, yes, flawed and lovable, sorry, sorry. That’s, that’s what, that’s where I went wrong in the yearbook.
Jaime: Exactly.
Dana: Uh, J- Jaime. A lot has been made of this, the apples scene.
Jaime: Yes.
Dana: Do you think I smell apples is basically saying “I love you”? Were you, what do you think that Helena was trying to express at that time?
Jaime: I, I, I think that it was, um, a sense of, uh, acceptance, and, um, and, and, and, and, and love, I mean, uh, because Helena had always been such a, kind of a troubled character in so many ways and she had kind of, um, these struggles and this darkness and these mental health issues and I think that “I smell apples” was a, a, a wa- wa- was, she, she’d kind of come to the light, you know, she, she had, had kind of accepted herself, and it was such an altruistic act of love, she was sacrificing herself in order to save the others, that it was true love, like she’d overcome the darkness. So it was, uh, I, I, I, I, love that, uh, moment, yeah, that kind of-
Jo: I know we wanted, uh, one of the most beautiful definitions of love onscreen is recognition of your soul in someone else.
Dana: Mhmm.
Jo: That’s really what happens, and I thought that when Jaime did that, there was a very beautiful, I mean it’s sort of like Romeo and Juliet. You see this moment of, and we talked about it earlier, that energy, that to me is that. what that is-
Jaime: Yes.
Jo: -the scene is, “I smell apples.” It’s these two people who see each other in each other and are profoundly connected, whether, in whatever way that it is, it’s just a profound connection, you know, and so often we find boxes to put these connections in, you know, as humans, we want to make sense, we want to make logic of them, you know, which is, I think, um, why storytelling suffers in the representation, because you want to define what a thing is and kind of, um, the most beautiful things about some of the most special relationships is they, they're beyond what you can say they are, they’re beyond categorization, they are, you know...
Jaime: I, I, I definitely think that, although it wasn’t written in that way, I mean, if you actually go back and look at the footage, I’m saying “I love you” to, uh, uh, HG is saying “I love you” to Myka and Myka is is let-
Jo: I only think that’s what she was saying.
Jaime: -letting, letting it land.
Dana: Confirmation, folks! Confirmation, um, everyone!
Jo: In here. [points to head]
Dana: Write it in your vows, write it now in your vows!
Jo: Dana, you’re funny! [laughs]
Dana: Thank you!
Jaime: But wh- when, when did I come back and I was like, married to, what-
Dana: You, you weren't married, you were with a gentleman, and he had a, a young child and-
Jaime: And he was a bit of a drip as well!
Jo: And the house was very suburban, that’s all I remember was, I like walked into this house and I was like-
Jaime: That was, was that, I don’t really know the chronological, um, ordering, but like, I had like a ponytail, and I had a, possibly-
Jo: You were probably like driving a minivan.
Dana: You were teaching, you were teaching, weren’t you?
Jaime: Cause wasn’t I [indecipherable]
Jo: It’s okay, Jaime, I [indecipherable]
Dana: You were like in Phoenix or something.
Jaime: Yeah so, so what was that, after a bit I, so like “I smell apples” was the ending of my character, right? So like that, was that after a bit-
Dana: Right, and then you got rev- you were brought back-
Jaime: Right.
Dana: And then you kind of disappeared for a bit.
Jaime: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dana: Yes. Yeah, um-
Jaime: Yeah.
Dana: The, um, the, the, uh, the fans [laughs] were, um, confused by that, were like what?
Jaime: I d- I’m confused, I’m confused! [laughs]
Jo: Not just the fans, not just the fans.
Jaime: Well, I actually, um, I, I, I really want to go back and see that scene, um, I, I feel like you came to, I don’t, I was living in like suburbia-
Dana: Mhm.
Jaime: And, and didn’t you come to-
Jo: I don't remember.
Jaime: -the house and I, I think you came to-
Jo: I remember that horrible house though, because it was like, it… [makes disgusted face]
Jaime: It was so weird and I was like hello, I’m kind of like a completely different woman!
Jo: It was like very Stepford, I like, I walked in and, I don’t know why Myka was so accepting, I would’ve taken a baseball bat to the house, gonna be like, we’re leaving!
Jaime: So, so, so, so, I, so I, Jack, so Jack, Jack-
Jo: Get out of here, you drank the Kool Aid!
Jaime: I remember Jack was there and I was like, um, uh, oh, like this, like, like this doesn't work because of this and this doesn’t work because of that, and I was having a little, kind of like a creative difference with him, and, and he left for the day, he left for the day, and I really want to go back and see that s- that, that scene, because I remember I was asking him if I could, yeah, I know it’s, it says this but could I play it like this? And I do- I remember he didn’t want me to for the storyline, but I remember he left. [laughs] So I’d love to go back and see, I, I remember think- feeling like I was quite naughty, that I actually got away with it, but, uh-
Dana: Oh, I am loving all the subversive shit that was happening behind the scenes. [laughs]
Jaime: Yeah. [laughs]
Jo: Do you remember the park bench as well? Remember that scene, it was-
Jaime: Oh, yeah, a bench.
Jo: Wasn’t that a bench?
Jaime: Oh, that was a love scene, that was a love scene.
Jo: That was a, yeah, we really went for that one. [all laugh]
Jo: Everyone was like, what? And I’m like, well, we’re doing it. Might as well!
Jaime: [laughs] And we’re in like, Toronto, and everyone behind the camera, like, they’re very blokey, and it’s not in the script, and then they're like, “oh I didn’t, they’re, they’re, oh I didn’t see that coming!” [laughs]
Jo: They were like, what are you guys doing? We’re like, we’ll figure it out! [laughing]
Jaime: Exactly! We’re just doing our own thing. [laughs]
Dana: Oh, a little, a little mutiny, a little bit! [laughs] Well we, we, we’ve ha- we’ve had such incredible conversation so far, and I have so many fan questions for you, and if we were onstage everyone would get to come up to the mic-
Jaime: Aw.
Dana: -and ask you questions, but I do have a bunch of questions that were sent in, um, so I do want to get to your fans, because your fans are so integral to keeping this like-
Jo: That’s why we’re here.
Dana: -story alive. Uh, let’s see here. Let’s kick it off. Alright, so wellsbering wants to know, what personality traits do you share with your characters?
Jaime: Well I think, I think that, um, I, uh, definitely always get cast as the baddie for whatever reason, but then I think that, um, really the quirky mess that I, I, I morphed into is basically me. [all laugh]
Jo: I like that answer, that’s great. Um, I, uh, am very A-type when it comes to certain things, and Myka very much, I’m very like, flowy, Myka wa- didn’t flow, but there are certain parts of my life where I’m not flowy around. My work is one of them, writing is another one. Um, and I’m very afraid of letting people down. I think that’s why I've been, I was te- telling a lot of the people that I was talking to today that, you know, the reason I didn’t do this a lot when the show was on, I couldn’t understa- i was like, why do people wanna meet me? They're gonna meet me and be disappointed.
Dana: Ohhhh.
Jo: Yeah.
Dana: I think everyone thinks that though, I think that’s very common.
Jo: I think tha- yeah, I think that’s the human condition, right?
Dana: Yes.
Jo: Um, but, but I think Myka and I share that sort of reserve, you know, that thing where you’re like I don’t, no, don’t get too close. I’m like a Monet, stay back. [laughs]
Jaime: And I, I think that was part of the chemistry as well, it’s like, you have that kind of like, you know, protectio- protective-
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: -kind of like, edge. And so it’s like, if, I think that i- in a way, the gift that we had by it not being written for us is, if had been written we would’ve, the characters would’ve made each other, um, accessible to each other far too quickly. It was like the slow burn of, Myka could be quite prickly, and my character was completely messed up so it was kind of like, this kind of like energy between them where they were kind of like, you know, like working each other out, feeling each other out-
Jo: Is there? Is there an energy there?
Jaime: And then the laughs were well earned, and the smiles, and the deciding to work together was well earned. There was a, a lot of suspicion around each other, and when they opened up or they kind of let their guard down, it was hard earned, and and it was like, you know, something you would wanna rejoice at.
Jo: Yeah, aw, I love that.
Dana: Um, okay, so this is from mayberrycosplay, uh, you may remember mayberrycosplay, I believe one of them dressed as HG at a con, uh-
Jaime: Oh!
Dana: -but they wondered-
Jaime: I’ve seen a few HGs.
Dana: You’ve seen a few HGs.
Jaime: [laughs]
Dana: This is for Jo about, uh, Myka’s experience with ovarian cancer and, uh, like, how the awareness of this silent killer of women, like how that storyline, what that storyline meant to you and how it felt to portray that?
Jo: I was really nervous about that storyline, you know, anything that has affected people and their families and, and it’s always, I, you know, difficult territory to walk as an actor, especially in a show like Warehouse where there's so much happening on such a grand level that I’m like, are they going to pay attention to this? Are they going to really honor a storyline like this? was my concern, you know, like very often things like that are added like, uh, it’s like putting a robot arm on a story, and you're like oh, and by the way, there’s ovarian cancer! And so I was really, you know, concerned about showing up for that and, and, and and serving it in a way that people understood and, and could identify with that, you know, it’s such a catharsis, that’s what I think it’s supposed to be. Um, so it was, uh, I, the fans told me I pulled it off, that’s the only way that I know.
Dana: Well it meant a tremendous amount to, to mayberrycosplay and so that’s why they, they sent that in because it, it really affected them because of their own personal-
Jo: Yeah.
Dana: -you know, family journeys and such.
Jo: Well I’m so, so, thank you, I mean, I’m still wondering, you know, I worked really hard to make sure that was in there. We’ve all lost somebody to cancer, we all know what that’s like, we all know- I mean, I mean, I certainly have, to feel a lump and be like [does the Home Alone face] you know. I have two friends right now who are going through it, so I try to honor it in the best way. I- it’s one of the things that makes me want to be an actor, uh, that I think is so special about it is that you get to tell stories that people, it’s a group catharsis, you know, so I’m glad that, glad they think I, the only thing that, if they think I sh- I showed up then... [laughs] yes, good, good, good.
Dana: Um, let’s see here, cloxy813 wants to know what was your favorite, favorite scene to film together?
Jo: Probably the heaving bosoms scene. I was excited for the heaving bosoms scene, which was all like [mimes placing gun to forehead] kill me!
Jaime: [laughs]
Dana: Hashtag heaving bosoms scene.
Jo: It was so hot that day, I remember my tank top-
Jaime: So hot, oh my god, it was like-
Jo: It was like, my tank top, I would like look down and find, I was like, my boobs are out, um. [laughs] I just saw him sign, them sign, um.
Jaime: We were by that lake, I just wanted to dive in there. It was-
Jo: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I loved, I loved, I loved doing that scene, I have to say. And, and the chess scene, I remember that.
Jaime: Oh yeah.
Jo: I remember that very well. Um, I really enjoyed my work with Jaime because I, as I said, you know, there’s not a lot of scenes that are two women just being women. It was so, it was like a breath of fresh air and so I, I wasn't, I was, uh, you know, a lot of the times Myka was there to witness Pete-
Jaime: Or, or, or to laugh, or to kind of laugh and sigh at his super funny jokes.
Jo: The funny jokes... um, so, so it was so nice to not ha- be in a scene from that point of view. So often women are are written as accessories-
Jaime: Yeah.
Jo: You know, and, and this was a storyline where I felt like she was a whole person and I could be like a whole, real person, I didn't have to be like-
Jaime: I, I, I, I, I was on a show called Hustle and there was a character on it called Danny Blue, and he had all the funny lines, and one of the refrains that I had was “oh Danny. Oh Danny,” where every time he said something cheeky or naughty or a joke I’d go “oh Danny,” and I remember just being so excited to get the job, but then after awhile like me saying “oh Danny” really wore thin, especially as off camera I feel like I was more witty! [laughs] In that space I was much more funny, but all the funny was written for him, and I was going “oh Danny.” So when I came in I really, I kind of, um, you know, I knew the frustration of playing the, kind of, you, you know-
Jo: Straight man.
Dana: The “oh Danny.”
Jo: -if you were playing, right, right, the brainiac, uptight brainiac, and Pete had all the funny lines, so obviously we were in a lot of scenes with the rest of the cast and keeping the story going, but I felt as though all the character stuff that we had as, as women came from the scenes when we were on our own, and obviously that first scene with the grappler, um, you know, was, it was kind of the first scene where I’d been playing kind of like a little, kind of kind of like sneaky little looks and curiosity and fascination with this woman-
Dana: Yeah, we noticed.
Jaime: And, but, but, I, but, it wasn’t until the grappler scene that I thought that, that i was starting to get this, kind of, this chemistry going, and then there was a scene, do you remember the scene where I didn’t know how to work a computer or open it, it was like a, I was like a monkey-
Jo: Yeah [laughs] yeah.
Jaime: I was like a, it was like, I didn’t know what this is, we were-
Dana: Well, I mean in, in f- in fairness you had been in bronze for a long time.
Jaime: -we were in like a stu- a student room, a student's room, it was-
Jo: Yeah, we were at the college, we were at U of T.
Jaime: And, and. and we’d, it was the first time we’d deci- you’d, you’d kind of begrudgingly decided that we could work together, and HG was kind of a little thrilled, and you were a bit begrudging and-
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: There was all, we, we still had to, ‘cause like, in sci-fi there’s a lot of storyline and exposition and kind of fantastical stuff, which is super fun, but actually as actors you really get excited about the character stuff and there was always just this great character stuff whenever we were on our own with a scene-
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: -um, because we didn’t have to worry so much about servicing all the other characters, we just serviced each other.
Dana: Well, you know, there are only two kinds of queer women. It is thrilling or begrudging, it’s one or the other. [all laugh]
Dana: They fit perfectly in there.
Jaime: I mean maybe that’s why it resonated so well, and maybe it was the reason it was so great, that it wasn’t written, because you had these two kind of like, kind of sli- slightly spiky kind of like flawed women, kind of like o- one, you know, one not particularly into the other at all, you know, so-
Jo: It was interesting, I still remember, I still remember receiving that energy and receiving that stuff and realizing, sort of plotting, cause I’m like, how long would it take Myka to figure this out?
Jaime: [laughs]
Jo: Seriously, I was like, cause, Joanne is not her,, I’m, you know, I’m wasn’t in the box that she, I always thought, Jack’s like, you’re exactly like that character, I’m nothing, I’m not- [laughs] I mean there’s a part of me that’s uptight but there's a part of me that’s most definitely not, so I was like how, and I really wanted to do the discovery of it within her, the like, this, the, this feeling started, and then her sort of, and M-Myka to me as a character as a whole was always somebody who was afraid, this is somebody who was always very scared of everything and presented themselves in this very [mimes acting stuffy and uptight] way because there was so much going on here [gestures to heart] and it was slow in the five seasons, I really wanted her to like, you know, relax and start laughing and not be so, and I was like, there’s a certain amount of wonder that was like-
Jaime: Endless wonder.
Jo: -ohhhh, ohhhhh, ohhhh, like you kind of see her, one of the things about that journey is you start to see her discover sort of herself and her own feeling surrounding that, which I thought was really special.
Jaime: And also you, um, you, you kind of ended up, you, you know, HG was kind of like a tricky character and she was always one step ahead, um for, that first season, but then when she started to fall apart, you were the one that kind of put her together, and then I felt like there was also this humor introduced, this lightness introduced to your character through the humor el- elements-
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: -and the surprise, which was, um, really lovely for your character.
Jo: Yeah, I, I think for m- for me, you know, it was a decision I made like in season two that I k- she had to evolve and grow and sort of, um, I couldn’t, I was, I was, I was like, I can’t keep coming to work and putting a giant stick up my ass [laughs] like we’re doing, like I need just to like expand her and go towards her relaxing and really finding, I think for her the big thing was always finding connection, you know, this-
Dana: Sure.
Jo: -we, we see in the beginning of the show is, it’s very cut off, very isolated, very like, and I, she lost her partner, that was, when I read that script, immediately I was like, this is someone who’s so scared of losing people again that she’s never gonna let anyone else in, and that was sort of like my understanding of her. And when Jaime came on, it was such a great way to explore that, Myka opening, you know, as feelings developed, her opening, you know-
Dana: Well, that, the growth, the character journey that both of your, your characters went on, I think that is what makes the show still so enduring to fans, like why they feel so connected to it, because we do, we saw that journey, you know, both of you had your own journeys to go on and you somehow managed to cross, cross paths, and it may not have ended the way fans had wanted it to, but we still go so much out of it.
Jo: I’m so glad.
Dana: I wish it was endgame, but what can I do?
Jaime: We, we, we need a spinoff show for Jo and I, we, we need a spinoff show.
Dana: Okay, yes, the spinoff, okay! You need to talk about that because-
Jaime: Who do we need to talk to to make that happen?
Dana: I got in a lot of trouble on Twitter yesterday for not asking a spinoff question, uh, what, like, what would a spinoff look like between between HG and Myka?
Jo: I think it would be have, to be now, which we-
Dana: Yeah.
Jo: And we’d have to get her, there’s no ponytails in this story, there’s no suburbs, there’s no fucking ponytails, um, no-
Jaime: I won- I won- I wonder if, um, it could be now, but, or, I wonder if I, I had to come in for a mission and then I actually pulled you back into my time, that might be an interesting way to turn it on its head.
Dana: Ooh, Jaime Murray, there we go!
Jaime: If we both had to go back-
Dana: I love me some period.
Jaime: -into my time or you know what made me think that [she does the Jaime Murray hair flip™] what I-
Jo: [laughs]
Jaime: I saw that, I saw that ne- The Nevers-
Jo: I miss that hair flip!
Jaime: -the, the, the a- the adverts for The Nevers on HBO, and I’m like that is the HG Wells spinoff right there, and I was like super fucked that I wasn’t in that, and then I read that Joss Whedon was a consultant and I was like [inaudible] really bad, so, but, anyway I think that that’s what we should do. I, I’m also obsessed with that time period.
Jo: I mean, yeah, and also like it was real, yeah-
Jaime: It was the beginning of ps-
Jo: Yeah.
Jaime: -psychology, of like Tesla, of of like different thoughts, there was like, they were like spiritual, um, kind of scientists and atheism and there was all it this opportunity for change, which actually wasn’t taken, but it was actually, it’s super interesting right at the time, there was suffragettes-
Jo: Also a fish out of water for me would be so wacky, because I’m a fish out of water too, alright.
Dana: I’m curious if yo all saw the Saturday Night Live sketch the other, uh, last week with, uh, lesbian period drama-
Jaime: Oh!
Dana: -and how, how every lesbian, like anything that features lesbians now has to be- [laughs]
Jaime: Well have you e- have you ever-
Dana: -it’s like the Edwardian or, like the Edwardian times.
Jaime: Have you guys read Sarah Waters, do you know this?
Dana: Oh, of course!
Jaime: Like, so, and maybe that is actually what helped me get to HG Wells, but I loved those books when-
Dana: Oh, they’re so amazing.
Jaime: -I was growing up and I feel like we should make those o- we should remake one of those b- Jo, you’ve got to read those books, and then-
Jo: I’m writing it down! I’m taking notes!
Jaime: Oh, it’s amazing.
Dana: You two would be amazing in her most recent one.
Jaime: She writes these amazing Edwardian, Edwardian kind of wanton lust and then there’s like, like the vervain or whatever, that kind of drug that they used to take back then-
Jo: Opium?
Jaime: -so it’s like slightly, kind of like psychedelic, oh, it’s amazing, yeah, she’s amazing.
Dana: [laughs] Well, we unfortunately are out of time, and it’s been so much fun to talk to the two of you, and I, I love the love that you have for your characters, for your friendship, for the fans, uh, it’s, it’s so lovely to see, and thank you so much for making this work in your schedules, I know you’re both super busy doing your own projects, um, and I want to think Mark. Mark, you’re amazing, thank you so much for, for interpreting.
Jaime: Thank you, Mark!
Jo: Thank you, Mark!
Dana: Um, do you have anything you want to end with, to say to the, to the Bering lesbians out there?
Jaime: Well, first of all, I want to say that, um, if anyone sends me messages to, you know, pictures or anything that that Jo needs to see, I’ll make sure that Jo, Jo gets it, ‘cause she’s not on social media, and I’ll, I’ll share stuff with her so that she can kind of know the love from the community.
Dana: Yeah, great.
Jo: I think, um, I’m actually gonna try to put together a newsletter because I’m trying to get my shows made and I could use this community, you know, to help-
Dana: Oh, we will support you to the end! We will march off that cliff with you.
Jaime: I could help you make a Twitter account, just for our community.
Jo: I don’t wanna do Twitter, I wanna do a newsletter. [laughs] I don’t wanna, I don’t know how many characters are in it, but it’s not enough. [laughs]
Jaime: But Jo, Jo, you have to actually read some of the fanfiction. The fanfiction is epic.
Jo: I have a book that I got, somebody wrote a book-
Jaime: Unbelievable, oh my god.
Jo: -like a novel.
Jaime: They’re brilliant, these people are brilliant, like best fans ever.
Dana: There is some really incredible work out there.
Jaime: Well, do you want to-
Jo: I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, um, you know, I don’t do these very often, and just like, the outpouring of love, like just the connection, I really appreciate it, I’m so grateful, so thank you.
Jaime: Yeah, it’s such a beautiful community. I feel really proud to have been welcomed into it and, uh, very grateful.
Dana: Well, we’ll hope to see you another time, and thank you all who turned in to this panel. [Jaime blows kisses]
Jo: Thank you.
Jaime: Bye, guys.
Dana: Do you smell apples?
Jaime: Bye, Jo, I love you so much.
Jo: Do you smell apples? I love you too. [blows kiss] I’ll talk to you soon.
Jaime: Yes, I’ll see you later. Bye bye, darlings.
Jo: Bye.
