Visited a local coffee shop and found a book on American Literature. Read a bit about Cotton Mather, whose name I recognized from the show Salem.
One of his writings is in regard to Martha Carrier, who was tried for withcraft, in the 1600s.

Increase becoming nepotism enemy number one as soon as he sets eyes on Cotton:
(this is the same excuse he used for why he consistently refused to support Cotton being appointed as a minister's assistant or w/e)

Divination and Kabbalah, in my colonial New England? It's more likely than you think:

I was not expecting that link between Lurianic Kabbalah and American exceptionalism via Shabbetai Zevi. That sounds like a helluva rabbit hole to go down. Fun to see so many big names of 17th century religious life feature in this web of Kabbalah and Puritan apocalypticism.

Cotton Mather’s work On Witches is a significant historical text that provides insight into the Puritan mindset and the infamous witch hysteria that swept through colonial America, particularly during the Salem Witch Trials.

My relationship to Cotton Mather. My great-grandmother told me when I was a child that my 12th great-grandparents were Richard & Cathrine Mather, but at 10 years old... I had no idea who tf they were. That makes Increase Mather my 11th great-granduncle. 😂😂😂
