Tumblr media
In the fast-paced corporate world, delivering a compelling presentation can make the difference between securing a lucrative deal and losing a potential client. A well-designed corporate presentation is not just about aesthetics; it is a strategic tool that communicates your message effectively and leaves a lasting impression. This article delves into the significance of corporate presentation design services, the role of a corporate presentation design agency, and how business presentation services can elevate your corporate presentation design to achieve business success.
The Importance of Corporate Presentation Design Services
Corporate presentation design services play a crucial role in shaping how your business is perceived by stakeholders. These services are tailored to create visually appealing and coherent presentations that align with your corporate branding. A well-structured presentation can help in conveying complex information in a simple and engaging manner, making it easier for your audience to understand and retain the key messages.
The use of professional design elements such as high-quality graphics, cohesive color schemes, and appropriate typography ensures that your presentation stands out. Moreover, corporate presentation design services focus on creating a narrative that guides the audience through your content seamlessly, ensuring that your message is delivered with impact. By investing in these services, businesses can enhance their credibility and professionalism, making a strong case for their products or services.
The Role of a Corporate Presentation Design Agency
Engaging a corporate presentation design agency can significantly elevate the quality of your presentations. These agencies specialize in creating customized presentation designs that cater to the specific needs of your business. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise in design, enabling them to craft presentations that not only look good but also resonate with your target audience.
A corporate presentation design agency collaborates with you to understand your objectives, brand guidelines, and the message you want to convey. They then use this information to create a presentation that reflects your brand’s identity and communicates your message effectively. The agency’s role goes beyond just design; they offer strategic insights on how to structure your presentation for maximum impact, ensuring that each slide serves a purpose and contributes to the overall narrative.
The Value of Business Presentation Services
Business presentation services encompass a wide range of offerings designed to enhance the effectiveness of your presentations. These services include content development, design, and delivery coaching. By availing these services, businesses can ensure that their presentations are not only visually appealing but also informative and engaging.
Content development is a critical aspect of business presentation services. Professionals in this field help you craft a compelling story that highlights your key messages and persuades your audience. They assist in organizing your content logically, ensuring that your presentation flows smoothly and keeps the audience engaged.
Design is another integral component of business presentation services. Expert designers use their skills to create visually striking slides that capture the audience’s attention. They incorporate elements such as infographics, charts, and images to illustrate your points effectively, making it easier for the audience to grasp complex information.
Delivery coaching is the final piece of the puzzle. Even the best-designed presentation can fall flat if not delivered effectively. Business presentation services include coaching to help you hone your delivery skills, ensuring that you present with confidence and clarity. This holistic approach ensures that your presentation is impactful and leaves a lasting impression on your audience.
The Impact of Corporate Presentation Design on Business Success
A well-designed corporate presentation can significantly impact your business success. It serves as a powerful tool for communication, helping you convey your message clearly and persuasively. When your presentation is well-designed, it reflects positively on your brand, showcasing your professionalism and attention to detail.
Effective corporate presentation design can also enhance your credibility. When your audience sees a polished and professional presentation, they are more likely to trust your brand and the information you are presenting. This trust can translate into business opportunities, as clients and stakeholders are more inclined to engage with a company that presents itself well.
Moreover, a well-designed presentation can help you stand out in a competitive market. In industries where numerous companies are vying for the same clients, having a visually appealing and well-structured presentation can give you a competitive edge. It shows that you are serious about your business and willing to invest in quality communication tools.
Corporate presentation design services, offered by a reputable corporate presentation design agency, can provide you with the expertise needed to create standout presentations. These services ensure that your presentations are not only visually appealing but also strategically designed to achieve your business objectives. By leveraging business presentation services, you can enhance your communication efforts, build credibility, and ultimately drive business success.
Conclusion
In conclusion, a well-designed corporate presentation is a critical component of business success. Corporate presentation design services, provided by a corporate presentation design agency, offer the expertise needed to create impactful presentations. These services ensure that your presentations are visually appealing, strategically structured, and effectively delivered. By investing in business presentation services, you can enhance your communication efforts, build credibility, and achieve your business goals. In today’s competitive market, a compelling corporate presentation can be the key to standing out and making a lasting impression on your audience.

Hotel-only extra warning screen added to Paper Mario. LodgeNet was a game streaming service for SNES/Nintendo 64/GameCube games available in select hotels, with the hardware featuring additional buttons to manage the play experience.
The screen is telling the player to use the Reset button on the LodgeNet Nintendo 64 controller (which is not present on regular retail Nintendo 64 controllers) to reset all saved data. It is notable for being designed in the style of the messages seen in the game itself, instead of being a generic corporate-styled warning screen as would be expected from such a message.

Quick FAQ on Tumblr, "Value", and the Proposed Crab Day
Motivation: I see a lot of misinformation circulating on the dash re the proposed crab day and I wanted to offer a simplified and judgement free perspective using core principles of finance.
Q: We keep being told that tumblr's been making nothing but a loss for years, and yet, if it is so unprofitable, then why is no one is shutting the website down? Is it really in need of our money if it's already owned by a multi-billion dollar corporation?
This is in fact not as much of a paradox as it appears to be because "value" in corporate finance terms is a function of present and expected future profits (adjusting for the fact that profits you expect to be earn in the near future are worth a lot more than equivalent profits expected to be earned much later in time).
This means that you can have a company or a product that is currently making a loss (i.e. costing a lot more to run than the income it generates) and it might still be worth some (or a lot of) money as long as you expect it to generate enough profits going forward. Uber for example has been making a loss for years and is still valued at billions of dollars because people think it will eventually generate a lot of profit.
Q: What does all of that mean for tumblr, specifically?
Given how unprofitable tumblr has been historically it's actually a pretty good sign that management has a plan to try and make it profitable because it means they haven't thrown in the towel yet!
But if they fail or if they decide that no matter what they do tumblr will remain unprofitable, then they wouldn't have much business incentive to keep running it. This is why participating in crab day or spending some money on tumblr in general is a good idea, if you can afford it and if tumblr is a service you would like to keep enjoying into the future. And if the answer is no to either of those questions, that's ok too--don't let anyone guilt you on this.
Even more questions-and-answers under the cut! My inbox is also open for any (good faith) questions you might have.
Q: But we all use tumblr religiously--isn't that enough?
Not quite. Tumblr's current state means that the existing userbase is not enough to make the site profitable. For that to change, either the existing userbase needs to become more profitable, or tumblr needs to get a lot more new users--or have a combination of both.
Q: Can crab day really solve all this?
Once again, not quite. A one time cash-injection is not equal to sustainable income, which is what tumblr ultimately needs. This means tumblr will still need to court potential new users and that entails some change to the design and/or the perception of the site. (I love tumblr but guys, if we are real for a second, last time I told my coworkers that, they asked me if I also had a myspace account.)
Q: So why participate then?
Because it will still help. While some change is inevitable and necessary, if we the existing users put our money where our mouth is, it would send a strong signal to management that we value the service they offer and that they should take our preferences into account in designing the site's future also. Also some cash, even if it is a one time deal,
Q: I heard people who came up with the idea are transphobic Christian fundies--do you really want to associate with people like that?
I don't. But who the blogs behind this idea, as people, are has no bearing on the merits of the idea itself.

J-HOPE DISCHARGE CEREMONY
Jin brought an unexpected guest to celebrate his bandmate's military discharge
Tumblr media
October 17, 2024 (8:41PM)
J-Hope enlisted in mandatory military service on April 18th last year and was finally discharged today after completing his eighteen months of duty holding not only the rank of Corporal, but the title of Special Class (Elite) Warrior as well. Unfortunately the only member present at the site, as announced by BigHit days prior, was the group's eldest, Jin, who completed his own service earlier this year, along with Suga's younger sister, ATEEZ lead vocalist Himari.
While people have just now begun uncovering the closeness between these artists, what happened during the ceremony solidified any findings circulating through social media platforms as the seniors beckoned the young woman to celebrate with them. When the rapper stepped out with a large bouquet in hand, those present at the scene believed the flowers to have been offered as a congratulatory gift by those stationed alongside him until he handed them to her.
Widely known to be rather soft hearted it was no surprise when the maknae was caught tearing up when sharing a tight embrace with him, and those watching what little clips were uploaded from the live stream reportedly got sentimental alongside them. J-Hope himself was seemingly attempting to hold back the wave of emotions that came with seeing her after so long, and although he did not touch on their reunion much during the Weverse live, the reason behind the flowers was finally revealed.
"I couldn't properly celebrate her debut as a fashion designer, or her surpassing 200 KOMCA credits...I missed a few milestones for her career so I wanted to let her know that I was watching and that I'm proud of everything she's done."
Himari was clearly overjoyed at the mere fact that her senior had returned and posted some heartwarming pictures to her personal Instagram account's story, showing what the two got up to prior to her attendance at the Elle Style Awards that evening;

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Translation; 'Thank you oppa' - 'I missed you'
Even amongst so much happiness some keen eyed netizens noticed the vocalist hopefully searching the military base's grounds in hopes of seeing her older brother - which the rapper confirmed later that evening saying she did not get the notice posted by the company and thought they would get a chance to reunite shortly. Atiny were able to find some sense of relief for their maknae as he closed off this personal topic by promising that until they could be with one another again, the two discharged members would make sure to support and care for her like he would and would not fail to continue afterwards.
On this note; Welcome back J-Hope! 💜

So you want to be a BBU writer...
Congratulations, you are one. The idea of the shared BBU multiverse is, that all takes at the core concepts are valid; there is no canon, and the same time, everything can be canon for your story!
Is there something everyone agrees on?
Probably not; but here are some things I consider widely accepted/canon:
- The setting is dystopian, somewhere between present and near future; in a society similar to ours but with (even) more power in the hands of corporations.
- In several countries, there is a "pet industry", a legalised concept of serfdom/ slavery that allows to own other humans as so called pets, (usually) in a household.
- The term "Pet" is more focused on the ownership and companionship aspects; in most BBU stories the pets are considered less than free people, but aren't actually treated like animals.
- The law states that these people have signed up voluntarily and have been compensated for it. Sometimes though, rich people or corporations go against the law.
- The whole process, from signing up to marketing and sales is in the hands of influential corporations
- Biggest of these, usually, is WRU; there is no canon on what the letters stand for. (It was a tumblr inside joke that makes absolutely no sense in-universe, but the acronym stuck). Some writers create other companies with different methods or focus.
- Pets are classified according to 'designations'; at the core there are Domestics (household chores), Platonics (companionship, nannies, caretakers...) and Romantics (different sort of companionship, including... bedroom chores), plus combinations. Guard Dog (protection) has made it into many stories as a fourth designation. This isn't the limit, though; there are also writers with Object designations, more involved 'service' concepts, 'Chewtoys' and several more.
- Pets are identified by number codes, usually six digits, every writer has a different system behind them. As an abbreviation, handlers tend to use the last three digits. This number is also tattooed on them as a bar code, often on the wrist.
- Somewhere during the training process, trainees are made to forget their entire past and also certain skill sets that pets aren't meant to have. Owners can specify certain things they want to be erased or remembered. Usually, this is handwaved by writers; there's advanced drugs and neurological stimulation involved. The process and the drug administered for the memory loss is often referred to as "The Drip".
- Often, Pets are made illiterate to make them more dependent on their owners
- Often, Pets are made to wear collars and consider these "safe". There's a lot of themes around "safety" taught to pets to keep them contained.
- There are standardised sets of numbered positions the trainees are taught; extra positions can be added on request
- There are also a lot of memorised rules and phrases from training the pets are made to repeat and will sometimes in their everyday life
- Training involves all sort of torture, mostly psychological, drugs, isolation, shock collars and shock batons and serious gaslighting
- Often, training facilities are described as uniform and white and designed like mazes; trainees at facilities wear a 'uniform' of a white shirt and black shorts
- Pets are usually terrified of the memories of their training; including especially "white rooms"
- The term "Respect" spoken by a person with authority will make the pet fall to their knees instantly and await further instruction
- Pets are shipped in a box, which is the idea that spawned the whole universe; usually in a human sized crate with some accessories added. They're also called boxies, box boys/box babes/... because of that.
- Unwanted or stubborn pets are sent back to WRU for "refurb", trained again and sold with big discounts; it's used as a threat and most pets are horribly afraid of this
- In the outside world, there are movements to help runaway pets or even fight the system overall; usually called "pet lib"
- Pet lib runs safehouses where they take in runaways and work on deconditioning
There are more posts like this out these, some more extensive, some very similar; a very good one here. This is the set of things I consider most basic for my own writing, at least.
I've reblogged some more posts and discussions on @bbu-on-the-side as well, so feel free to look around, use whatever you like, and discard the rest.
Also, new (and old) BBU writers always feel free to tag @bbu-on-the-side should you ever do an intro. I'll share them there.
*Edit- I've also started an archive on established tropes and the existing writing for it, here!

Hey, @asparklethatisblue, are you still looking for possible modern AU jobs for the Terror boys? I would like to submit for consideration:
A large museum!
This is purely based on my experience, but in terms of having lots of different possible jobs and specializations for the lads, with different levels of status associated with them, I think this could combine the best or the worst of the most popular Terror modern AU settings: corporate and academic. Please imagine with me:
Director John Franklin: more interested in sucking up to the board and/or bringing in large donations than he is the very real and present problems at the museum that are just threatening to get bigger.
Rival curators Crozier and Fitzjames: speaks for itself. Crozier's more of a traditionalist, Fitzjames wants big-budget, high-interaction, media-attention-grabbing new solutions. They fight about it in every weekly meeting.
Head of Admin Thomas Jopson: Secretly runs this place. If he ever took a sick day, the whole museum would fall apart.
Conservation lab technician Harry Goodsir: Loves his job, hates that he could do it EVEN BETTER if the higher-ups would only budget more for conservation. Type of dude who gets into the field because he genuinely loves it & is taken advantage of for the same reasons.
Visitor Services desk staff Gibson and Armitage: It takes two guys to do one half-assed job around here. They mostly sit around, gossip, make after-work plans, and judge tourists who don't know how to read a map.
Security guard Solomon Tozer: Do I have to explain this one? Might be gossiping with the guys at the Visitor Services desk.
Visiting scholar Cornelius Hickey: definitely faked his credentials and probably committed identity theft to get this grant money. Has no business being here. Visitor Services likes him.
Visiting scholar Silna: Doesn't respect any of these people. Just wants to get her research done in peace.
And that's not even all the jobs we can give the boys (and girls)! I haven't even touched on exhibition designers, archivists, social media coordinators, and more! I think Lady Jane would be an excellent advancement coordinator (a high-level fundraiser, basically), and Hodgson would be a very enthusiastic education coordinator.
The ship's boys, of course, are unpaid interns.

The Benefits of Using Professional PowerPoint Services for Corporates
Tumblr media
In today’s competitive corporate world, making a lasting impression is crucial. Whether it’s pitching to potential clients, presenting quarterly results, or training new employees, the quality of your presentations can significantly impact your success. This is where professional PowerPoint services come into play. By leveraging expert PPT design services, companies can enhance their presentations, ensuring they are both visually appealing and effective in delivering their message. Here are the key benefits of using professional PowerPoint services for corporates.
1. High-Quality Design and Visual Appeal
One of the primary advantages of hiring a Presentation design company is the superior quality of design you receive. Professional designers have the skills and experience to create visually stunning slides that capture the audience's attention. With PPT design services, you can ensure your presentations are polished, consistent, and aligned with your brand identity. This level of quality is often unattainable with in-house efforts, where resources and expertise may be limited.
2. Time-Saving and Efficiency
Creating an effective PowerPoint presentation requires a significant investment of time and effort. By outsourcing to a Presentation design company, corporate teams can save valuable time that can be redirected toward core business activities. PPT presentation services streamline the process, allowing professionals to focus on what they do best while ensuring that their presentations are handled by experts.
3. Consistency in Branding
Maintaining brand consistency across all corporate materials is essential for building a strong brand image. Professional PPT design services ensure that all presentations adhere to your company’s branding guidelines. This includes using the right colors, fonts, logos, and other brand elements. By working with a Presentation design company, you can create presentations that not only inform but also engage and inspire your audience.
5. Tailored Content for Specific Audiences
Every presentation has a unique audience, and tailoring your content to meet their needs is essential for effective communication. Professional PPT design services allow for customization based on the specific audience, industry, or occasion. This level of customization ensures that your message is relevant and impactful, increasing the likelihood of achieving your presentation goals.
6. Access to the Latest Tools and Trends
The world of presentation design is constantly evolving, with new tools and trends emerging regularly. A professional Presentation design company stays up-to-date with the latest developments in design software, techniques, and best practices. By utilizing ppt presentation services, corporates can benefit from cutting-edge design trends and technologies, ensuring their presentations are modern and effective.
7. Expertise and Creativity
Professional designers bring a wealth of expertise and creativity to the table. They have an eye for detail and a deep understanding of design principles that can elevate your presentations. Ppt design services leverage this expertise to create slides that are not only visually appealing but also effectively communicate your message. This creative edge can make a significant difference in how your presentation is received.
8. Improved Data Visualization
Data is a critical component of many corporate presentations. However, presenting data in a clear and engaging manner can be challenging. Professional PPT presentation services specialize in data visualization, transforming complex data sets into easy-to-understand charts, graphs, and infographics. This enhances comprehension and retention, helping your audience grasp key insights quickly.
9. Scalability for Large Projects
For large-scale presentations, such as annual reports, investor meetings, or product launches, the demands can be overwhelming. A Presentation design company has the resources and scalability to handle large projects efficiently. PPT design services ensure that even the most complex presentations are delivered on time and to the highest standards, regardless of size or scope.
10. Cost-Effectiveness
While it might seem counterintuitive, hiring professional ppt presentation services can be cost-effective in the long run. The time and resources saved by outsourcing can outweigh the costs of in-house efforts. Moreover, the improved quality and effectiveness of professional presentations can lead to better business outcomes, providing a strong return on investment.
Conclusion
In the corporate world, presentations are a powerful tool for communication and persuasion. By utilizing professional PowerPoint design services, companies can enhance the quality and impact of their presentations. From ensuring brand consistency with Corporate Branding Solutions to engaging audiences with dynamic and tailored content, the benefits are substantial. Partnering with a Presentation design company not only saves time and resources but also ensures that your presentations are polished, professional, and effective. Designing Success: Choosing the Right Presentation Design Company for Your Needs
In today's dynamic business landscape, effective communication is paramount. Whether you're pitching a new idea, closing a deal, or conducting a training session, the way you present information can make or break your success. That's where a professional Presentation Design Company comes into play, offering specialized services to enhance your visual storytelling and leave a lasting impression. In this article, we'll explore the key factors to consider when selecting the right company for your presentation design needs, focusing on Presentation Design Company and PowerPoint Presentation Design Services.
Expertise in Presentation Design: When seeking a Presentation Design Company, it's crucial to evaluate their expertise in crafting compelling and visually appealing presentations. Look for a company with a proven track record in creating impactful presentations across various industries. Assess their portfolio to gauge the diversity and quality of their work, ensuring they can cater to your specific requirements.
Understanding of Your Industry: Every industry has its nuances, and a presentation designed for one may not be effective for another. Choose a company that demonstrates a clear understanding of your industry and target audience. This ensures that the design elements and messaging align with your business goals and resonate with your audience.
Customization and Creativity: A cookie-cutter approach rarely yields outstanding results. Opt for a Presentation Design Company that values customization and creativity. Your presentations should reflect your brand identity and convey your unique message. A company that can infuse creativity into their designs while maintaining professionalism will set your presentations apart.
Technological Proficiency: In the digital age, presentations often involve multimedia elements and interactive features. Ensure the chosen company is well-versed in the latest presentation technologies, especially if you are looking for Powerpoint Presentation Design Services. This proficiency will enable them to create visually engaging and technically seamless presentations that captivate your audience.
Client Testimonials and Reviews: Reputation speaks volumes. Before finalizing your decision, delve into client testimonials and reviews. This will provide insights into the experiences of others who have worked with the Presentation Design Company. Positive feedback and success stories are indicative of a company's commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Collaborative Approach: Communication is key to a successful partnership. Choose a company that adopts a collaborative approach, involving you in the design process. This ensures that your preferences, feedback, and vision are considered, resulting in a presentation that truly aligns with your objectives.
In conclusion, selecting the right presentation design company is a strategic investment in your business success. By prioritizing expertise, industry understanding, creativity, technological proficiency, positive reviews, and a collaborative approach, you can confidently choose a partner that elevates your presentations to new heights. I'm a loser who both spends too much time playing gacha games and loves to hear myself talk, so here's another game review style post, this time covering my first day playing Break My Case. This time I'm not even being a little hater! I'm a lover! I'm cringe! I'm free! I love you Coly! I love you ikemen gacha games!!!!!!!
Break My Case is a new puzzle-music-adventure mobile game from Coly, the developers behind Mahoutsukai no Yakusoku and On Air. More relevant to BMC/BreMai is their game Stand My Heroes, with which it shares a writer, some gameplay elements, and of course a naming convention. Coly has developed a bit of a cult following for their unique status in the Japanese mobile gaming world: they're a company that was founded by women and hires women to make games for women. They put a lot of soul into their games. From the start, BMC is no different!
Tumblr media
"Could you have pulled a clean version of this image from the internet so it didn't have all the game junk" no. it's my tumblr and you get my screenshots.
I (with help from friends) overviewed the initial Break My Case announcement back when it dropped. You can read that here! I said in that post that I thought a "dark rhythm game" would be a really cool direction for the game… and that's more or less what we got! GO ME!!!!!
First: the game's presentation is fantastic. Super slick graphical design and just amazing atmosphere. The sound design of this game is incredible. Genuinely. Really, really, good. All the music is amazing—I'm not knowledgeable enough to say anything other than "IT SLAPS!", but it totally does slap. The illustrations for the cards are all wonderfully atmospheric in and of themselves, and are just a delight to look at on the homescreen with its chill background music. Even just navigating menus is a sleek, seamless experience. The live2d is well-done, although it clashes a tad with the art style for a bit of an uncanny look at times.
Tumblr media
The atmosphere! The atmospheeeeeeere!!!
Of course, the draw to this game is the characters and story, so let's jump into that. I'll admit right now that I read the story through a machine translation—I have aaaalmost enough Japanese knowledge to fill in the gaps, especially since the story is fully voiced, but I'm definitely not getting the full nuance of the story that someone fluent in Japanese is going to get. THAT SAID, after completing the prologue, I was definitely intrigued enough that I want to continue slogging through the MTL just to read more! There's a great setup, centered around the bar Aporia and its three modes—a daytime cafe, a nighttime members-only bar, and, secretly, a "fixer" service who'll help anyone with any problem. Our main character, a woman who was just forced to quit her job at a corrupt company, gets hired to replace Aporia's eccentric owner while he goes on a who-knows-how-long vacation. The owner also has the role of "tail"—as in, the tail a lizard sheds to avoid being eaten. If anything in the fixer service goes wrong, it's the owner who takes the fall and the blame. This hasn't come to mean much in practice yet in the (quite short) prologue, but it's a fascinating setup. The story promises to touch on themes of the threads that weave our lives together, how small meetings can lead to massive life changes, and whether any human being is truly replaceable, even in our modern corporate world where people are treated like cogs in a machine. According to a staff interview, there are a handful of references to Stand My Heroes in BreMai, but the games' settings aren't otherwise closely linked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rough translation in alt text. The Aporia manager Ai may be the most mysterious, intimidating character, but he also beefs with a parrot the first time you meet him, so...
All the characters are staff at Aporia with various unique roles and background. The prologue just gives you a little bit of each of them, but everyone does show up, and they all have interesting dynamics with each other already. Ai, the stern manager, has some history with the MC that he refuses to divulge, and goes so far as to force psychologist Riku to agree to not look into it. The range of relationships among the staff run the gamut from the calm and mature friendship between fortune teller Kiho and art teacher Kyoya, to the unfaltering dedication of Yu to his ex-mafioso savior Tomose, to the ridiculous Takeru and Soyogu who spend their first appearance waking up after having gotten black-out drunk together the night before. My favorite dynamic of all so far is that of Kou and Mao—Kou is a playboy who insists he's not a playboy, and is introduced evading a woman by… asking the icy Mao to pretend to be his boyfriend so that she thinks he's taken and gay and leaves him alone. Which Mao exasperatedly agrees to, telling Kou that he's used up his allotment for this month which ohmygod how often does Kou do this. Kou if you're asking this guy to pretend to be your gay lover so often he gives you a monthly limit I think you might just have to admit you want him to actually be your gay lover, Kou, oh my god—

Rough TL in alt text. Kou is letting the implication do all the heavy lifting here. He technically never said he was dating Mao. Technically.

On to the gameplay. There's gameplay! Unique gameplay! Good unique gameplay! Oh my god, uncharted joseimuke territory! The main gameplay mode is a match-3 puzzle game with rhythm elements. As in other rhythm games, each song in the game is its own level, more or less. (Each character has two unique songs, and three songs shared with the other members of their unit.) You set up a team with cards you've collected from the gacha, which determine your power level and special skills. The "leader" of the team has to be the character whose level you've selected. The puzzle gameplay is a tile-swapping match 3—think bejeweled or candy crush—but the tiles you've matched are only cleared once a bar sliding across the screen hits them, clearing them in tune with the song. Everything cleared in a single swipe of the bar ups the combo counter. There's also a life system, where if the bar slides across the screen without clearing a single match, you lose a life… But the bar moves pretty slow. You're not likely to game over or even lose a single life any time soon. There are more difficult versions of the levels I've yet to unlock, so I'm sure the life meter becomes relevant then. There's also "auto" and "loop" features if you want to grind a level over and over for exp and items, but, of course, the computer can't score as high as you playing it yourself.
And, really, it's fun to play, so why would you want to!? The sound of matches clearing with the music is so satisfying and really makes you want to combo as high as possible. Once you've matched some tiles, you can't move them again, nor use them in a second match (eg, in a cross shape), so if you want to maximize your combo and make as many matches as possible with what's on the board, you have to think ahead about which matches you're going to make. The bar slowly crossing the screen adds a visual timed element that gives some urgency to putting all the matches together. It definitely feels like a game you can pick up an instinct for over time, which is super fun.
All in all, a really solid, enjoyable little puzzle game. It would be fun to play even without the promise of anime boys. Stand My Heroes is also a match-3, for the record, which is what really cements the two games as being part of the same series.
Tumblr media
Admittedly, the anime boy staring at you while you play musical candy crush is a little disconcerting.
The second gameplay mode is "Snap'n Spin", a… gameplay-lite mode that just puts chibi characters in random strange situations and lets you take pictures of them. The mode is explained to be a video game within the world of BreMai, so it's not even trying to be realistic or relevant to anything else in the game. Once you take your pokemon snaps of the boys, they get a fun little caption. You can save up to 40 pictures in your album. Other than being cute, the main way this mode interfaces with the rest of the game is that it's the primary way to unlock card stories for the cards you pulled in gacha.
This gameplay mode is... cute? I guess? It being so disconnected from the style and aesthetics of the entire rest of the game felt weird. The chibis are adorable, so it has that going for it. And I do like some of the captions you get on the photos afterwards. My favorite were the scenes you catch of a character drinking, and then the caption reveals their current favorite drink. That's a delightful detail for a game set in a bar. Mostly, though, this mode left me wondering "why?" ...And I imagine the answer is something like "because merchandisable chibi characters are a requirement for joseimuke games." This mode could've been anything so long as these cute, starry little dudes were in it.
Tumblr media
Urara here hated the drink and the caption revealed that, lately, his favorite thing is sparkling water. He's the youngest character in the cast, so I guess he hasn't grown into booze yet...
One last feature I want to mention is the jukebox. Like many games, BreMai has a music player that lets you listen to tracks from the game… But its music player is, genuinely, a fully-featured music player app with shuffle, repeat, lyric displays, and even background play that works when you're in another app or your phone is off. What! Wild! When I first learned a few days ago that BreMai had a built-in player for its BGM tracks, my first thought was "Well, what's stopping someone from downloading the game just to use the music player and never spending a cent on it? Wouldn't you rather have the songs on spotify so you at least get a pittance of ad revenue, in that case? It's more than nothing."
But having played the game now, I see what they did to prevent that, lol. You don't unlock the songs in the jukebox until you get an SS score on the song's level. Which, I mean, that's normal rhythm game stuff, of course. Can't fault that decision. But, as in other gacha rhythm games, your score in a level depends on the power of your team of cards, and the cards you get from the initial handful of pulls aren't gonna get you anywhere near an SS score without significant investment. So you're either buying in-game currency to buy upgrade items, more gacha pulls, or both. Of course, you can also put a bunch of time into grinding for upgrade items—they drop from levels. Gacha currency is harder to come by. So you're not getting songs in the player without actually playing the game lmfao. The character solo songs in particular (the ones with vocals rather than just instrumentals) also require you to build up rapport with that character—the game calls it "Nice". You build up Nice with them by playing their other songs and using their cards in levels. It takes 1000 Nice on a character to unlock their song. In my first day of playing, I was able to get one character to about 250 Nice, another to 200, and a handful more with a few points, so it builds at an okay pace. There's ways to pay to speed up the grinding for Nice and for upgrade items with things like level skip tickets. So, basically: you're not getting that music player to a useful state without investing either money or time, lmao. Is paying-or-grinding to get cool music you can listen to while not playing the game more "worth it" than the usual freemium game goals of better units, new in-game outfits, or prettier card illustrations? ...Honestly, maybe it is? It's novel, at least.
Tumblr media
All gacha rhythm games have the same card select screen, don't they. These were my cards' levels after my first day of play, and you can see they didn't quite reach a suggested score of "A", much less the maximum "SS".
But I do want to stress, the monetization is, for the most part, pretty easy to ignore. Nothing in-your-face. The button to go to the shop screen is a different color, but it's not flashing with an eternal indicator, it's not popping up at every second, it's just sitting there alongside all the other menu buttons. The game isn't shoving timers in your face at all times—there's a stamina meter, which is mildly annoying, but you get ten plays when it's full, and if you're just playing casually you're probably not going to want to play the puzzle game over and over enough to fully deplete that. I know the bar is on the damn floor here but Tokyo Debunker seriously made me realize how bad it can be with mobile game monetization. BreMai is freemium, yeah, but as far as dark patterns go, it's not egregiously bad.
So, the verdict: if you're a joseimuke game fan and aren't afraid to play a game that probably won't get an English port and doesn't even have a fan translation yet (which I realize is already counting out 99.99% of people), definitely give this one a try. See if you like the gameplay—it really is worth trying—and do check out the story if you've got the ability. Or just look at the pretty anime boys.

"Afab trans woman" why do you view trans womanhood as a Vibe you wanna adopt and not a collection of a wide range of experiences based on the material circumstance of being assigned male at birth and transitioning to become a woman. We've always had afab people who call themselves trans women (it's why so many of us are so militant about tme vs tma, because these people would try to pass themselves off as us and speak over us) and it's cause people want the culture and coolness that we have cultivated for ourselves without having our struggle. They want the cultural view of being the epitome of queerness that's thrust upon us without having to deal with the transmisogyny that that same culture throws at us
We've gotten a few isolated and largely unconfirmed reports of AFAB people identifying as MtF trans.
It's difficult to tell if this is a real thing, or if it's a one-in-a-million thing that's just being noticed and amplified by the internet, or if it's some people making these stories up for internet clout or for other reasons.
I've been considering the increase in identification as "non-binary" compared to 2008 levels, and I have a theory.
Back in the 2000-2008 era, the Internet was still a separate place you would go. You would physically sit down at your computer, log on, and then go on websites or use messenger services, etc. Corporate and government use of the Internet was more limited. There was more socially acceptable use of alternate channels such as phones, physical meetups, etc.
Cyberspace was real, but it wasn't ubiquitous. It didn't follow you around when you logged off.
Now, thanks to smartphones and increasing dependence on the internet, cyberspace is almost everywhere. Data is light, it doesn't weigh much, and it can smoothly glide at a moment's touch. Privacy in physical space can disappear with only a few seconds of notice.
The cyberspace layer is a new layer on the stack of what has to be considered in social interactions.
The social contagion theory is about the idea of male-identifying gender non-conformity spreading to girls and young women from outside as a meme (in terms of a self-replicating idea) resulting in local social pressure. However, we can invert it:
What if it's a hiding place?
Our current system of ordinary laws is not designed for constant, thorough enforcement. If we were constantly monitored by AI to enforce our current laws, it would be intolerable.
The ubiquity of smartphones and social media may have lead to a radical increase in internally felt social pressure for gender conformity, and a narrowing of what's considered acceptable gender behavior.
While from the outside, most of us would say, "Yeah, there can be masculine women, so what?" for people who have a high internalization of social pressure, that might not be good enough.
Identifying as "non-binary" provides social permission (including internal social permission) not to be layered with 3mm of makeup, even though the influencers are presumably off presenting their unrealistically flashy lives on internet video platforms doing just that.
As for MtF specifically, in terms of what's visible it tends to be a pretty intense band of humanity, culturally, and especially online.
There are a number of reasons for this, but to emphasize one of them, if you have people that are uncomfortable in real life, they may spend a lot of time online, and if they're not mindlessly devoting that to social warfare, they may devote that to cultural development. As more culture development shifts online, they'll have a disproportionate influence. The current cohort of MtFs also hit a bit earlier, so they're a bit further along, career-wise, and a bit more knowledgeable.
So it wouldn't be surprising for a number of young AFAB people, who are evaluating 'who they want to be', to look out there, and decide to try on 'trans woman' as a label and see how it fits, see if it changes them, or helps them fit in.
But is that actually happening? I dunno.
