THE PLAY: 2020
What an year 2020 has been. A big play? Right my friend! I know, like me many of us were planning to turn our dreams into actions, take big long jumps in our personal as well as professional lives. But alas! Our dreams turned into ashes. Sounding a bit dramatical? Ofcourse like this year in itself. Come along, lets read the pages of our half written book:2020. Lets start with the country of festivals- India. We all were celebrating new year, knowing deep into our hearts that corona exists in world, especially China. But did you expect that it will rise up to this level in your country, setting a benchmarking year in the history. Not only India, the corona destroyed the whole world in a manner no one imagined. Everything got stilled, it felt like the Earth skipped a heartbeat, the Earth stopped rotating. We all were shocked and frightened, seeing the near future going away in the unpredictable time zone. The world suffered in the major regions of one's life, like- •The downfall of Economy •Health crisis •Natural disasters •Loss of the major Bollywood actors •Increasing mental health issues •The fight of Racism •Crimes and Misfortune
THE PANDEMIC- COVID-19
Coronavirus hit the world and drastically everything changed. We are locked into houses helplessly. Everyone is fighting with the pandemic in their own way. Let's take the example of India. We all are battling the virus with our respected Prime Minister , Narendra Modi by his principles of Indian mythology. We were all United in every step he took like banging the bells and utensils, lightening lamps, etc. We are all medically aware and hygienic to defeat coronavirus. All of us accepted this new lifestyle happily for the world to get back to normal. In this difficult period, our Doctors and government with the help of civil servants were there with us at every step for our safety and protection, selflessly.
THE DOWNFALL OF ECONOMY
Due to the pandemic situation in this whole world, the scenario of Economy completely changed. The coins got flipped. Every country which was doing well in their respective fields lost it all. The treasure and funds all got into saving the people from this deadly virus. Hospitals were turned into isolation wards, sanitation of the country took over any other development. Also the migrant workers started moving back to their home towns as many of them lost their jobs. Unemployment in the world is at its peak. This made a huge hole into the pockets of common man as well as the economic conditions of a country.
NATURAL DISASTERS
It all started with the Australian Bush Fire. It showed no signs of slowing or stopping down. 400 people with many animals and natural habitation were killed due to the inhalation of hazardous smoke. Then comes the Indonesia. Indonesian floods forced 4 lakh people to leave their homes and move to other parts. Around 66 people lost their lives. Sad. Volcanic eruption in Philippines showed no sympathy towards the world. It left the world dry in ashes and smoke. Earthquakes had been a major part of this year. Interesting and shocking. Turkey, Carribbean, China, Russia, Philippines and India faced some of the worst earthquakes in the history this year. Locust swarms in East Africa and the parts of India and Asia damaged the crops and yeilds of farmers leaving them in huge loss. Cyclone Amphan hit India and Bangladesh. It created havoc in West Bengaland and Orissa. It killed 12 people in Bengal and was termed as a DEADLY CYCLONE STORM. Forest Fire in Uttarakhand burnes 51.43 hectares of land and left it dead for the animals. Cyclone Nisarg waited no longer and destroyed Maharashtra and other parts of India. Many people were affected by this as well. Floods in Assam affected 5 districts and over 30,000 people. Crops and domestic animals are at their worst at this stage.
WE LOST SOME FANTASTIC ACTORS
Sushant Singh Rajput's death became a mystery over time. He was a very talented, intelligent and wise actor. Many people assure the government that it is a murder. This death has left a huge impact in all of our lives because we take so many things around us for granted. The time of self- realisation and self-analysis has began. We also lost Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Demise makes my heart sink.
INCREASING MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
Due to lockdown, many people are facing mental health problems because everyone is going through a very tough time. Battling with their own problems and with coronavirus all together is not an easy work.
THE FIGHT OF RACISM
America has a big issue all together with the coronavirus. It is "RACISM". Black people are fighting for equality and their rights in America which has turned the whole world on. Black lives matter is one of the most trending topic of 2020.
CRIMES AND MISFORTUNES
Even though in such difficult times people are taking steps towards crimes. Rape counts in India are stepping no back. The killing of a pregnant Elephant and many such mishappenings and misleading things are done. Nothing is in place.
THE POSITIVE SIDE
Due to lockdown and shutting down of industries and factories, the nature is healing every second. The ozone layer has shown an immense increase in its density which is a good thing. Everyone is working towards their hobbies and passions, developing their art and skills. This has bought a feeling of satisfaction and pleasure in our minds. We all should look towards the positive side of the crisis and evolve through the tough screening that God is sending us for.
THE HALF BOOK
Above all this, we should be optimistic and motivated for the remaining half of 2020. It's not over yet, we all can together change the stars of our lives by just doing what is right and helping each other. Let's together write the half incomplete book in a positive manner and help everyone around us fight their battles with courage and kindness. Let's bring the misfortunes to an end. Let's all hold our hands together and show the world the power of unity. It is correctly said that "United we stand, divided we fall." Let's end this year on a positive note. Let's all of us erase the coronavirus from world and be back to normal. I can't wait to see my world growing and glowing again. Prayers have made a big impact in saving our lives. Let's save each other. Hope to see you soon again. Thank you Purna Jain.

– Maharashtra has planned to setup 60-70 field hospitals across districts to cater to Covid patients round the year. According to a report by Times of India, these 50 to 100-bed facilities are part of a larger plan to create parallel infrastructure so that future Covid waves don’t disrupt non-Covid work at permanent hospitals.
– The field hospitals would largely come up in tier-II and tier-III cities that tend to get overwhelmed with any spurt in cases The state plans to build them with a durability for 20 years and won’t be temporary structures.
– Many governments across the globe, that once relied on vaccines from Sinovac Biotech Ltd. or Sinopharm Group Co Ltd. are now turning to options from the US and Europe, as concerns mount about Chinese vaccines’ efficacy against the delta strain and the Western stranglehold on mRNA supplies grows looser.

Siginficant COVID-19 Impact on Immunoassay | Healthcare Industry
COVID-19 Impact on Immunoassay in Healthcare Industry
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is having a dramatic impact on the immunoassays as numbers of immunoassays have received approval for diagnostic use for COVID-19 pandemic, utilizing assays like ELISA and lateral flow. Currently, PCR and immunoassays are the only means for diagnosis of COVID-19 used by the healthcare professionals in order to detect the spread of Coronavirus across the globe.
Moreover, immunoassays demonstrate some distinct benefits over PCR. Antigens and antibodies are slightly more robust than RNA, rendering them less vulnerable to spoliation during transport and storage, thereby reducing the risk of false-negative outcomes. The quality in research is often improved by the reality that antigens and antibodies are found more consistently in sputum and blood samples. The virus has spread across all regions ranging from North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa up to South America.
The COVID-19 has been declared as a pandemic by WHO due to its increased spread across the globe. After the declaration of the pandemic, various countries announced the complete lockdown such as the U.S., Germany, India, China among others in order to decrease its spread. The lockdown of countries aids in surging of use of immunoassays diagnostic kits in order to screen patients suffering from Coronavirus. According to the situation, the report of 5th August 2020 by WHO stated 18,354,342 cases of Corona has been reported globally and 696,147patients are dead due to the Coronavirus.
IMPACT ON DEMAND
Exponential rise in globally occurring Coronavirus cases is increasing the demand for diagnostic kits for immunoassays. The reasons responsible for the growth in diagnostic demand include rising market appetite for serology-based rapid-test products, a favorable regulatory climate for drug creation and marketing, as well as a substantial rise in target patient population. Because of these factors, different market players were prompted to improve and enhance their current production and distribution capabilities and focus on upgrading and marketing of their product.
Immunoassay is the method of choice for the diagnosis of patient with Coronavirus as major point-of-care testing kits are based on antigen – antibody interaction or immunoassay based. Moreover, the pandemic has led to significant rise in demands for reagents used in immunoassay testing in the recent months, leading to shortages in reagents required for perform the key steps in the testing process such as buffers and test reagents among more.
Immunoassay-based kits manufacturers have taken huge initiatives to enhance patient access to Coronavirus diagnostic testing in laboratories, hospitals and other test sites around the globe to support patient care and improve human health.
The companies listed below developed serology testing based on immunoassay that gained Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. FDA:
· Abbott: SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay
· Autobio Diagnostics Co.: Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Test
· Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc.: Platelia SARS-CoV-2 Total Ab Assay
· Cellex: qSARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM Rapid Test
· Chembio Diagnostic Systems, Inc.: DPP COVID-19 IgM/IgG System
· DiaSorin: LIAISON SARS-CoV-2 S1/S2 IgG
· EUROIMMUN US, Inc.: Anti-SARS-CoV-2 ELISA (IgG)
· Healgen Scientific, LLC: COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma)
· Ortho Clinical Diagnostics: VITROS Immunodiagnostic Products Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Total Reagent Pack; VITROS Immunodiagnostic Products Anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG Reagent Pack
· F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd: Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2
· Siemens: ADVIA Centaur SARS-CoV-2 Total (COV2T); Atellica IM SARS-CoV-2 Total (COV2T)
· ACCESS BIO. INC.: CareStart COVID-19 IgM/IgG
· Beckman Coulter, Inc.: Access SARS-CoV-2 IgGWantai BioPharm: WANTAI SARS-CoV-2 Ab Rapid Test
· BIOHIT Healthcare (Hefei) Co., Ltd.: Biohit SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG Antibody Test Kit
· Diazyme Laboratories, Inc.: Diazym DZ-Lite SARS-CoV-2 IgG CLIA Kit

· InBios International, Inc. USA.: SCoV-2 Detect IgG ELISA; SCoV-2 Detect IgM Elisa
· Luminex Corporation: xMap SARS-CoV-2 Multi-Antigen IgG Assay
· Salofa Oy: Sienna-Clarity COVIBLOCK COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette
· Xiamen Biotime Biotechnology Co., Ltd.: BIOTIME SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM Rapid Qualitative Test
The Emergency Use Listing Procedure (EUL) procedure was developed to accelerate the availability of the required diagnosis in emergency situations in public health. It was intended to enable interested procurement agencies and member states to use a particular immunoassay on the basis of a limited collection of available data on quality, health and performance.
The immunoassay eligible to be submitted for EUL includes:
· Rapid diagnostic tests for the detection of IgM/IgG to SARS-CoV-2
For instance,
· In May 2020, Roche Diagnostics, North America received Emergency Use Authorization by the Food and Drug Administration for its SARS-CoV-2 antibody test namely Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV2 assay. This new diagnostic kit launched by the company aids in decreasing the increasing burden of COVID-19 testing by meeting the demand of the population to some extent.
In the first half of 2020 (H1), the U.S. is anticipated to account for the largest share of immunoassay market followed by Europe. This owes primarily to the ongoing marketing of innovative diagnostic products associated with ongoing advances in the field of gene & immunoassay based products, the latest discovery of genetic biomarkers and their clinical significance in immunoassay testing, favorable government policies and their emphasis on the development of new products, and the significant expansion of target population.
Key manufacturers of immunoassay based kits in the U.S. include Abbott, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. and F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd, among others.

In June 2020, Abbott began supplying its laboratory-based serology blood test to detect the antibody, IgG (Immunoglobulin G) in patients suffering from COVID-19 in India, and distribution of antibody testing to leading government and private hospitals and laboratories in West Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. This increased the company's stock of test kits enhances its market reputation.
IMPACT ON SUPPLY
Due to the rising demand of immunoassay kits, it has been observed that falsified medical products are flourishing in the market. These fake testing kits render the life of a patient at stake. WHO has received several reports concerning falsified immunoassay kits and laboratory reagents for SARS-CoV-2 detection.
Further, the misuse, stockpiling, and price gouging lead to severe supply chain disruptions. This has increased the risk for healthcare facility with limited access to immunoassay kits during the care of COVID-19 patients. China being the epicenter of the pandemic became the key spot to disrupt the supply of goods.
STRATEGIC DECISIONS BY MANUFACTURERS
With the declining trend and inefficient management of the supply chain, government and manufacturers are taking initiatives to effectively manage the supply of immunoassay kits and make appropriate use of those products in healthcare settings. The capacity to expand reagent and immunoassay kit production is limited, resulting in unmet needs.
Collaboration, product launch, agreements, strategic initiatives by market players in immunoassay market such as Abbott, Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., DiaCarta and QIAGEN, among others will help them expand their product portfolio thereby leading to market expansion. This, in turn, will help increase demand for its product in the market thus increasing future sales.
For instance,
· In May 2020, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. collaborated with WuXi Diagnostics and Mayo Clinic in order to develop a complete antibodies test for detection of Corona virus thereby expanding its response for COVID-19.
· In April 2020, Abbott launched its third diagnostic test for the Coronavirus. The new antibody test launched by the company is a serology test which detects the IgG antibody to SARS-CoV-2 and the test is performed on Abbott's ARCHITECT i1000SR and i2000SR laboratory instruments, that can run up to 100-200 hour tests. As the organization has obtained FDA and CE Label Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) in Europe, it has made the test available. This new diagnostic kit launched by the company aids in decreasing the increasing burden of testing by meeting the demand of the population to some extent.
· In March 2020, Epitope Diagnostics, Inc. launched its immunoassay kits namely EDI Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 IgG ELISA Kit and EDI Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 IgM ELISA Kit for the qualitative detection of the COVID-19. This new product launched by the company increases its credibility in the market.
CONCLUSION
The impact of the novel COVID-19 virus is expected to leave a long-lasting impact on each industrial sector. The outbreak of COVID-19 prompted citizens to deal with confusion regarding the virus and its management. The virus poses risk not just to human life but has caused economic distress and severe emotional strain. It produced a ripple effect that gave rise to a new collection of requirements and needs that were not needed earlier.
It has been observed through the vast spread and rising trends of Coronavirus cases each passing day that the novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 is expected to leave a significant impact on every aspect of life or market. The risk pose by the infectious disease is not restricted to health but to the dwindling economy also. The healthcare domain is under a huge pressure to deal with the unimaginably big situation of COVID-19. Moreover, the surge in patients with this infectious disease anticipates in driving the demand for immunoassay in the market.
The market of immunoassays has experienced the growth owing to increased demand of ELISA and lateral flow immunoassay tests per day along with the reagents used to perform these tests. The advancement in technology, favorable support provided by government and ease in regulations are also aiding in its growth across the globe.
The strategic initiatives taken by the key market players like Thermo Fischer Scientific Inc., and others in order to develop novel COVID-19 testing kits in order to expand their market is fueling the market growth. Hence, it can be concluded that immunoassay market is expected to show healthy grow and substantial future demand for the rapid diagnostic testing kits due to the ever-increasing number of patients suffering from Coronavirus.

DRDO’s Corona drug 2DG will likely be launched out there subsequent week, sufferers will get well quicker
New Delhi: For the remedy of Corona sufferers, the primary batch of 10 thousand doses of DRDO drug ‘2-DG’ will likely be launched early subsequent week. DRDO officers gave this data. Officials mentioned that work is being achieved to hurry up manufacturing for using drugs in future. This drug has been made by a workforce of DRDO scientists, together with Dr. Anant Narayan Bhatt.
Yesterday, the Health Minister of Karnataka Dr. Ok Sudhakar visited the DRDO campus. DRDO scientists briefed the minister concerning the 2DG drug that might be a game-changer within the battle of Kovid. In an announcement issued by the Ministry of Health, Sudhakar was quoted as saying, “The 2-DG developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is a major achievement. It can play an important role in tackling the epidemic. This will help patients admitted to hospitals to recover faster.” And the dependence on medical oxygen will even lower.
When is the 2DG drug tested?
During the first wave of epidemic in April 2020, INMAS-DRDO scientists conducted laboratory tests. They found that this drug works effectively against SARS-COV-2 virus and prevents viral growth. Allowed Phase II clinical trials of 2-DG in Kovid patients in May 2020. The Phase II trials conducted from May to October 2020 found the drug safe and showed significant improvement in their recovery. In Phase-2, 110 patients were tried.
DCGI allowed phase-3 scientific trials in November 2020, based mostly on profitable outcomes. Phase-3 scientific trials had been carried out on 220 sufferers between December 2020 to March 2021 in 27 Kovid hospitals in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Detailed information of the Phase III scientific trial had been introduced to DCGI. A considerably greater proportion of signs was seen in sufferers. An analogous development was seen in sufferers older than 65 years.

PM Modi's competence is being questioned
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charm is fading with the covid crisis. The deadly pan-demic and the failure to manage the crisis has tarnished the image of PM Modi. His popularity heavily relied on perception management and public relations.
On 21 March 2020 he appealed to Indian masses for a Janta Curfew. The concept was simple a curfew imposed by Janta/ People for their own benefit.
"At 5 p.m., we will stand at our balconies, windows or doors for five minutes and we will ap-plaud those maintaining essential services by ringing bells, and clapping," Modi said. His popu-larity increased by this event and many people even chanted “Go Corona Go”
The first month media narrative was on Tabligi Jamat, where Muslims made responsible for the covid spread in India, the next 3 months of media narrative was on an Indian Actor Sushant Singh’s death, then it was on perception building how Prime Minister Modi managed the crisis and how he helped other countries with Vaccine.
Modi’s crisis management was well appreciated in the first wave however the second wave has come under sharp criticism. Modi has traveled extensively around the world in a bid to strength-en diplomatic ties. Prior to the second wave his vaccine diplomacy was also considered a suc-cess until the world witness the manhandling of covid crisis.
Last month, BJP recently lost a vital election in West Bengal , held amid the COVID-19 surge. The party also failed to make a mark in the southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Many experts believe that the opposition has also failed to make Modi accountable for the misman-agement. Many experts believe , PM Modi can play a masterstroke before the elections in 2024.
When people are sharing the horror stories from hospital , country is struggling shortage of oxy-gen and beds , hundreds of workers are building the new parliament and PM Modi's residence, it is called Central Vista Project with a spend of 2 thousand crore. It would be better if Govern-ment directs all efforts in Covid Management. Amid all this crisis a workshop was organized for almost 300 IAS officers on ways to improve the image of the government's functioning at this particular stage.
The current political landscape of India lacks a strong opposition who can question the ruling government and PM Modi.
