This is why: Ryoma/Hinoka are upset at your betrayal in non-Birthright routes, why Takumi thinks it's Corrin's fault for not having a good childhood, and why Sakura lacks the confidence to speak up because her older siblings were to busy to help

Just finished the tyrant baru cormorant thanks for posting about it every once in a while to sway me towards it. Even after having read it I'm still kinda astonished by how many parallels it has with tlt, it's kinda like if someone took all the metaphors and made them literal, and vice versa. But that definitely undersells this series too I feel. top five non-baru characters (I hope I'm spelling these all right I listened to the audiobooks for monster and tyrant) 1. Xate Yawa 2. Tau-Indi Basoka 3. Iscend Comprene 4. Aminata Isisegu 5. Tain Shir I hope Xate Yawa fucks a woman in the fourth book, just as a treat for me

I’m curious what the connection is. I know that Agonist generally means “one who suffers/struggles” or “fighter”, which, to be fair, is already a bit revealing. But the first connection I made was to agonists in neuroscience; while it’s not a 100% clear metaphor, considering Seth studied neuroscience, I think there’s some merit to the comparison!

(Also, there’s a melodic death metal band called the Agonist, and they’re quite good!! Unfortunately, they disbanded roughly a year ago. But they have some songs that frankly would be masquerade-core)

hey i saw ur ant post earlier and reblogged it and I would like to know if you knew about fungus growing ants because I think they are the coolest group of ants. Basically these ant species have domesticated fungus and grow it in their colony in underground farms, and thus beat humans to the development of agriculture by millions of years. There are actually even some leafcutter ants who specifically use their leaf cuttings as fodder for their fungal farms.

It's a whole bunch of convergant evolution to the point that the ants are specialized to digest the fungus species and the fungi have become more nutritious for the ants as well. The fungus is passed down from generation to generation by the queen ant who starts a new farm herself when setting up the colony.

hey can I make a book recommendation? I started following you for your tlt liveblogs way back, and now I've been reading the Baru Cormorant series which, while very different in setting, deals with a lot of the same themes of empire and colonization as tlt. I don't always agree with your takes but I think you might really enjoy it, and I would be interested in your liveblogging of it.

Book recommendations are very welcome! I have heard of that series before, but I never really did any in-depth look into it before, so I'll definitely check it out. I had a lot of fun doing the Locked Tomb liveblog, so I'd be happy to do one for another series.

Just to check, the first book is The Traitor Baru Cormorant, correct?

No, because seriously there are way too many parallels and similarities, it's kind of insane. I was comparing quotes from s1e1 of Fernando, where his friends/family/himself are basically giving testimonials as to what he's like, to quotes from the personality/image section of Napoleon's wiki....theres so much that's practically verbatim. Just as people, as well as how they chose/choose to present themselves on a greater scale, I think is very similar. Their personality traits, their mindsets, their motivations, their goals and ways they go about obtaining that, all very similar imo.

But please, come and join me and @sweatyflytrap in the Nandopoleon brainrot, it's very disconcerting to me how well it fits!
