Top Signs You Need a Professional Foundation Inspection for Foundation Repair
A strong, stable foundation is the bedrock of a safe and secure home, but sometimes, even the most durable foundations can experience issues. As a homeowner, it’s essential to be able to spot signs that your home’s foundation might need professional attention. If you notice any of the following warning signs, it could be time to schedule a foundation inspection from a qualified foundation repair expert.
1. Cracks in Walls or Floors
One of the most obvious indicators that something might be wrong with your foundation is the appearance of cracks in your walls, floors, or ceilings. These cracks, especially when they widen over time, can signal that your foundation is shifting or settling unevenly. Horizontal cracks are especially concerning, as they may suggest structural issues beneath the surface.
2. Doors and Windows That Stick or Won’t Close Properly
If doors and windows are no longer functioning as they should—becoming difficult to open, close, or lock—it could be a sign of a settling foundation. This happens when the house shifts or sinks, which distorts door and window frames. It’s a common red flag for foundation repair needs.
3. Uneven or Sagging Floors
When your floors begin to sag or seem uneven, it might indicate that the foundation is no longer supporting the weight of the home as it should. This issue can be particularly noticeable in older homes or houses built on expansive soils that shift with moisture changes.
4. Water Damage or Dampness in the Basement
Excess moisture in the basement or crawl space can be a sign of foundation problems. Leaks, mold growth, or standing water can occur when your foundation develops cracks or gaps that allow water to seep in. This not only jeopardizes your home’s structural integrity but can also lead to health hazards.
5. Visible Foundation Cracks or Shifting
Another key indicator is the presence of visible cracks along the foundation’s exterior. If the cracks are wider than half an inch, or if they’re progressively getting bigger, it’s a clear sign that the foundation is shifting or settling. A professional foundation inspection can help determine whether repair is necessary.
6. Exterior Tilting or Shifting
Look at your home from the outside—if you notice that the structure appears to be tilting or leaning, it could be a serious foundation problem. This tilting may be subtle, but over time, it can lead to major structural issues that require immediate foundation repair.
7. Bowing or Leaning Walls
If your basement or foundation walls start to bow, crack, or lean inward, this is a major indicator that your foundation is under stress. Bowing walls are usually caused by pressure from the soil surrounding your foundation. Left unchecked, this can lead to significant damage that will only worsen over time.
Why You Shouldn’t Wait
Ignoring the signs of foundation issues can lead to costly repairs down the line. The sooner you detect and address problems with your foundation, the more likely you are to save money and preserve the safety of your home. If you notice any of the signs mentioned above, it’s time to reach out to a professional for a thorough foundation inspection.
A foundation repair expert can assess the condition of your home’s foundation and provide solutions that are tailored to your specific needs. Whether it's minor crack repair or a more comprehensive foundation stabilization plan, professional intervention is the key to maintaining the long-term health of your home.
Don't wait for small issues to turn into major problems—schedule a foundation inspection today and ensure your home is built on a solid foundation for years to come!

You decide to ask Jimmy which direction to go. He is clearly very pleased to be consulted and fluffs himself up proudly. “My dad never gave specifics about the layout,” he says. “He said it changed around a lot. Mostly he just talked about individual rooms and how individual adventurers…err…died.” He deflates a bit. “But I’m sure that won’t happen to you!”
Well. Here’s hoping.
“What I think,” Jimmy says, “is that if there’s a weird noise, I’d rather know what it is, instead of having it behind me.”
This strikes you as excellent advice. You turn to the west, where the squeaking is coming from, light your lantern, and stride boldly forward, like a real adventurer!
The corridor here is in poor repair. The tree roots that made the crack you entered by have broken through the concrete in a dozen places, twisting around the stone gears and casting gnarled shadows in the lantern light. Bits of broken concrete grit crunch under your feet.
You go a few dozen yards and then the corridor opens into a long, narrow room. Huge gears protrude from the floor, but are immobilized by a veritable forest of tree roots. The far end of the room is choked with them to the point of become impassable. You can’t even see the far wall, though dappled bits of light come in through chinks in the ceiling.
The source of the squeaking is revealed as a single gear, hanging in a shaft of sunlight high up against the ceiling. It is the first one you’ve seen that is turning. It is hanging from a metal rod and doesn’t look like it’s connected to another gear. Regardless, it squeaks as it turns.
(Your regular reminder that choosing cabbages will end the game. Though you’ll live!)

Go Little Spider
Spiderperson! Reader in Gotham
Gn!Reader x Batfam(?)
Heavily inspired by "Peter the Pizza Guy" and "Dark Matter" on AO3
ATSV spider-reader
Taglist: @rl800
Back | Part 2
A pained groan and rustling from the dumpster caught the attention of some passersby but such was the norm in Gotham. No one came forward to help, merely glancing a second longer before going on with their lives.
You tried not to gag at the smell of rotting food surrounding you and instead focused your attention on trying to climb out of the pile of trash bags. It didn't help that your suit was soaked with whatever filthy water was in the bag of molding McDonald's.
Gross.
The putrid smell violates your nostrils and you try not to breathe as much as you need to, which is impossible when every little action you make causes you to suck in a breath because it hurts like hell. Each breath you take makes your chest hurt, like something was squeezing your lungs and stabbing it with a needle repeatedly. With shaky hands, you slowly climb up and out the dumpster, landing with a small thud on the concrete ground.
You let out a small oomph as your back hits the ground.
You're frozen on the ground as a wave of pain floods your body with it mostly concentrated on your left shoulder blade and ribs. The only positive thing about the situation is that nothing seems to be broken and the only thing there is the pain and horrible pounding headache like you've just drunk a bottle of vodka.
As you lay immobilized on the floor, you feel your vision blur as tears pool in your eyes. You quickly blinked and rolled your eyes in an attempt to stop the tears from falling down. You weren't sure why you were crying; you've been through worse than this. In all honesty, this was but a scratch compared to the injuries you've had on your line of work.
Still, you find some tears pooling on your eyes as you look up to stare at the dark and gritty alleyway you find yourself in. It reminded you of the first time you met Peter dressed as Spiderman; He had confronted the man who cornered you after you left school and dealt with him properly. And after the man passed out from the one sided fight, Peter webbed him up for the police to take him away before checked on you. You were grateful for his help and that was your first meeting with the amazing Spider-Man....
Lips pressed into a thin line as you recall the memory, you look at the hazy night sky as police sirens echo in the background. Smoke and the putrid smell of rot clung to your nose, causing you to scrunch up in disgust but also sobering you from further dwelling on the nostalgic memories.
Your hand clenches around your spider mask, with fingers tracing the webbing details on it before you start sitting up, there's no point in dwelling in the past.
You have to move on. Ignoring the cascade of pain as you move your body, you manage to drag yourself to lay on the dumpster after much effort. Okay, swinging on your web is definitely out of the question. Your eyes fall onto the occasionally glitching screen of the interdimensional watch settled on your wrist. It looks broken, but the painful feeling of your atoms slowly disintegrating wasn't there so at least it's still doing its primary function- stabilizing your atoms to settle in this dimension.
You tap on the screen of the watch, inspecting the other hardware to see if you could salvage it; Parts of the monitor were cracked but other than that nothing seemed to be too broken to repair.
Okay, you can probably try and fix it once you get your hands on some tools and replace some of the wiring. You can do this, you think. Probably. Maybe? You weren't confident given your first attempt at reverse engineering the watch ended up with you being flung to an unknown dimension, but that wasn't so bad. Honestly you were expecting it to fail and disintegrate you instead when you jumped to the ominous portal. (You've calculated the probability and it definitely wasn't in your favor.)
Frowning as you fiddle around with the internal hardware of the watch, you feel sweat rolling down your temples as you let out a frustrated groan when you try and salvage some of the more broken parts.
Welp.
There goes your only chance of knowing what dimension you're stranded in, for now at least. You take a long look at the buzzing streetlight across the street, the gritty and dark unwelcoming atmosphere didn't seem like any version of New York you've encountered. Added with the fact that your spidey senses have been thrumming softly in warning did not help with the horrible first impression this dimension gave you.
Letting out a sigh as you look down to check on your sorry state of a spidersuit, you start walking towards the streets despite a lack of destination in mind. You don't know where to go but any place is better than a dumpster in a shady alley. Plus, you didn't forget that now you had the spider society hot on your trails. Hopefully, they are being misled by the fake trail of breadcrumbs you left behind after messing around with the watch.
With your heart in your mouth, you trudge along the pavement like every step was a pain and arduous task.
***
You'd think that an injured guy wearing a ragged up spandex costume with the theme of a spider would elicit some sort of question but you were proven wrong when the few people that walked past you didn't bat an eye. Though to be fair, they looked drunk or high as hell- which should’ve been the biggest warning sign that you're stranded in the bad side of the city.
Well, that realization came very late to you and it didn't do much to ease the low thrum your spider senses gave you. It buzzed off uncomfortable at the back of your head the further you walked into the city. The wind blew coldly against your face and you felt exposed without your mask. You hesitantly placed your sweaty spider mask back to your face and gagged from the horrible smell. Unfortunately, even after all those years of wearing it, you've never gotten used to the smell of your sweat-soaked mask after a long day’s work.
After making sure the mask was firmly secured, you look around the growing darkness. The street lamps ahead were broken or flickering like it was running on sheer will. Your spidey senses were buzzing wildly at the thought of continuing the walk.
Yea, there's no way you're walking down a dark alley alone in the middle of the night. That's just asking for trouble.
You turn around, walking towards one of the buildings, wondering which building you should climb and travel through the roofs. You didn't notice this before when you were too focused on trying not to agitate your injuries during the walk but god damn the buildings have seen better days.
Some were crumbling and had dozens of bullet-sized holes, most were covered in graffiti and broken wood planks and metal pipes with suspicious goo oozing out, it seemed like a chemistry experiment gone wrong while constructions of the building were canceled halfway.
Seriously, your spidey senses are going ballistic right now it's actually unnerving. (You swear you'd heard gunshots ring in the air and this time it's louder than the previous one as police sirens echo in the background.)
It's rarely acted this way before, except that one time you visited Hell’s Kitchen for a field trip. Only this time, the annoying constant thrumming at the back of your head was louder and more in-your-face than the one at Hell’s kitchen.
Right as you stood staring at the weathered billboard sign hanging from the shoddy building of what was once a fast food diner contemplating if you should just travel from the roof, you hear a cry for help.

Omni luci est umbra Chapter 2: The Doe
Summary: Josele does a bit of work. It gets pretty messy but Josele doesn't mind. So long as Morgen doesn't find out about it. Genre: general, romance Word count: ~3000 Content warnings: usage of guns and knives, somewhat graphic depiction of violence Previous chapter | Next chapter (tbp)
..........
It was yet another normal day for Josele. One of going into work and helping those who needed help, correcting the mistakes people made, and generally doing her best with the skills she had. That morning hadn’t gone smoothly, what with Morgen leaving in a rush and thus skipping out on breakfast and the pot of coffee he left behind being worthless without sugar to add in. But Josele easily shrugged it off knowing that she and Morgen would likely be free to have lunch together and dinner at home was guaranteed.
Gravel crunched under sturdy boots as her brisk, confident footsteps carried Josele to her destination. Once Josele was inside, she could do what she did best.
The entrance of the building was a set of metal double doors, each with a small, rectangular window near where the two doors meant. They reminded Josele of the doors used for the buildings across her old high school’s campus. As she got closer, she noticed the windows had diagonal lines forming diamond shapes in the glass. Though, she couldn’t see into the windows as they were covered by paper.
What was that style of window called? Mutton? Josele shook her head. I think it was called muntin, actually.
Josele reached the doors, grabbed both by the handle, and turned the handles.
Interesting. One would think they’d lock the doors to this place, Josele mused as she swung the doors open.
A dingy yellow glow emanated from the lightbulbs in the entryway’s ceiling. At a glance, Josele knew some of the lightbulbs were dead, not that having all of them working would do much for the atmosphere. The walls of the room were completely bare and the paint job, white paint on concrete walls, was either left half done or it was peeling away. The flooring, too, was in a sorry state; it was impossible to tell if any given gray spot was a natural part of the tile’s pattern or if it was a scuff mark. The furniture around the room consisted of janky folded chairs, wood crates, oil drums, and old HVAC units. An open doorway in the back wall led to a stairwell.
The only thing giving the room any life were the people in the room.
Men. Six of them. Slacks with poorly fitted button-up shirts, tank tops paired with sweats, or just everyday streetwear were the outfits of choice for the men. One was in the middle of smoking a cigarette. Two were chatting over beer bottles. Another stood in a back corner and was on the phone. And the last two were looking at a magazine that Josele was certain she didn’t want to know the contents of.
In the second it took for Josele to take in the whole room, the men took notice of her.
“The hell?”
“Alright, who didn’t lock the damn door?!”
“Ya’ get lost in the area, lady? I don’t think ya’ belong in a place like this.”
Josele cocked her head to the side, grinned, and said, “I’m not lost. I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”
Her answer finally made the men wary. Their looks of confusion hardened into glares.
“Gonna fight us all al—?”
Shrlk!
“Akh…”
Thmp.
Before the man—the one who had been smoking close to the double doors—could finish his sentence, a knife had been lodged into his throat courtesy of Josele.
“Holy shit!”
“Evander!”
“Damn you!”
The remaining men reached for guns they kept on their bodies. Meanwhile, Josele was already running towards the next two closest to her, the ones who’d been reading the seedy magazine. She targeted one with an upward kick to his hand.
Crack!
His hand flopped limply at the wrist, not broken beyond repair but definitely left useless for the time being. His firearm clattered to the floor.
At the same time, Josele grabbed the second man by the wrist, the same hand which held his gun, and forced him to point his gun at his ally.
Bang!
Josele grabbed the man’s other wrist while he was still reeling from his unintended kill. She twisted both of his arms behind his back until she heard the shoulders pop out of place and the man scream from the pain. With him incapacitated, Josele swung his body around, just in time to absorb the fire from the other three men. She dropped the man as he let out his last groans. Her attention turned to the rest of her targets.
Another cacophony of bangs rang out. None of the bullets made contact though. Josele, though, easily pivoted around the gunfire before rushing in close.
“She dodged them? H-how?!” one of the still living men said in a state of growing panic. “That’s not even—”
“Just keep shooting, dammit!”
The gunfire continued. Josele, too, kept going.
Josele closed in on the two men who’d been drinking together. She pulled a knife from the lining of each boot she wore and threw them. The blades struck the men in the hands they used to wield their firearms, making them drop the weapons. Then when she was close enough, Josele jumped into the air, as though she were aiming to leap over the two. That wasn’t her goal though. Rather, she pulled her knees up to her chest at the same time as she reached for the men’s outer shoulders. She grabbed the men and guided herself into kneeing both squarely in their noses.
The momentum sent the men stumbling toward the wall behind them. Before the men and she herself hit the wall, Josele swung her body forward so instead of her face, her feet made contact with the wall. She kicked off the surface and toward the final man. He was already running for the stairwell.
Josele rolled into her landing then sprinted after the man. As she ran, she pulled out a new knife, this time from a sheath attached to the back of her belt. She scaled up the steps and caught sight of her fleeing target as he seemed to be catching himself after ramming in a wall in his haste. That second was all she needed to throw her knife into his achilles tendon.
His scream only had a second to be heard before Josele had her hand over his mouth. Her fingers pressed into the sides of his face as she jerked the man’s neck simultaneously to swiping a blade— the same knife she’d thrown at his ankle was already removed to use again—through his flesh. Crimson blood flew, following after the motion of Josele’s arm, and splattered on the floor and wall. A low gurgling sound came from the man as Josele let him fall to the ground. The last embers of life left him like the blood that oozed from his neck.
No one else has come to confront me, Josele realized as she took the gun from the corpse. She’d traveled light for this mission but it wasn’t like she was going to not make use of everything at her disposal. Meaning that these goons were the only one’s here. Or maybe whoever else is upstairs didn’t hear.
Josele climbed the stairs. She stopped at the building’s second floor and swept it for any more enemies. Aside from a room storing weapons though, there wasn’t any danger present. Which left the third floor. On the third floor, there was a bathroom, a clean-looking sitting room where business deals would likely be discussed, and a third room that Josele still had to check.
She paused outside the door. A shadow briefly crossed the bottom gap of the door, moving to the side of the entrance where the door would swing towards once opened. Even if she hadn’t seen the shadow, Josele also heard the tap of footsteps and the rush of air being breathed by whoever was on the other side of the door.
They’re hoping the door will block my line of sight and make me susceptible to a sneak attack. How quaint. Josele eyed the frame of the door. I should have at least a centimeter of space between the door and the frame when I open it…
One moment to take a deep breath. Another moment to prep the “borrowed” gun for fire. And then, Josele turned the doorknob and pushed it open.
Bang!
“Gahk!”
Josele rushed into the room. She rounded the open door and came face-to-face with a woman, likely the same age as herself, with dirty blond hair pulled into a bun on the back of her hair. Her clothes were much nicer than that of the men who’d been there when Josele entered the building. Seems she got paid a bit more than the men Josele had already killed. The woman had a gun in one hand while her other was preoccupied with holding a wound in her side.
“How the hell did you—?”
“It doesn’t matter how I knew. What matters is that I was the one to get the drop on you,” Josele responded flatly. “Now—”
She stopped upon seeing the blonde raise her gun.
Bang!
Bang!
The bullet intended for Josele was intercepted by one fired by Josele, and both clinked on the floor. For good measure, Josele shot the woman’s hand holding her firearm. The woman let out a scream which drowned out the sound of her gun hitting the floor. The momentum of the gun being thrown from the blonde’s hand caused it to slide further behind the woman. If the blonde wanted her gun, she’d need to turn her back to Josele to make a lunge for it. And if she did that, she was as good as dead and she knew it.
Josele watched as her opponent’s eyes went wide, from shock and fear. That was always a good sign.
“You’re Artemis, a high ranking member of the Cortrell Family, aren’t you?” Josele asked, as if the shoot off never occurred.
The blonde. said nothing and grit her teeth.
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
Josele stepped forward and “Artemis” stepped back. The slow, quiet chase was put to an end when “Artemis’s” back finally hit the wall behind her. Josele grinned at the sight of her prey cornered.
“Now let me introduce myself.” Josele touched her hand to her chest. “You may call me Diana. Ironic, isn’t it? The Roman and Greek names of the same deity facing off. But the difference between us made this a rather unfair match.”
The space between the women shrunk until “Artemis” was in arm’s reach of Josele.
“I’m actually disappointed by how boring this whole mission was,” Josele stated with a sigh and tired smile. “A three story building and several rooms but all I got to face were some unskilled grunts and an equally unskilled higher associate. You seem less like a mafia family and more like some ragtag thugs posing as mafia.”
“Artemis” let out an indignant growl then spat at Josele, “Quit it with the speech. Just kill me if that’s your job.”
For a moment, Josele said nothing but let out another sigh.
“It’s true that I’m here to kill you. But I was told to at least attempt interrogating you first. So!” Josele shot her open hand forward and grabbed “Artemis” by her throat. “Why don’t you answer some questions for me?”
“Artemis” wheezed as she clawed at Josele’s arm with her bloody hands. Josele, however, gave no reaction to her desperation.
“Tell me, “Artemis,” do any of these names sound familiar? Nash. Shirley. Kariya. Nadia. Marie.” With each name Josele whispered, the wider “Artemis’s” eyes grew. “So you are familiar with them! Wonderful! Now can you tell me where your organization of scumbags has taken them?”
“I don’t know,” “Artemis” choked out. “My crew just collec—Ack!”
Josele’s grip grew tighter. In response, “Artemis” squirmed, very weakly but the effort alone was commendable.
“Try again. Tell me where—”
The sound of a piano suddenly playing cut Josele off. It was her phone. And the particular ringtone playing belonged to her husband.
“Hold on just a moment,” Josele told “Artemis” before releasing her grip on the other woman. However, she didn’t give “Artemis” long to breathe easy and quickly raised her leg and pinned her to the wall with a foot to her neck. She brought her phone out, hit the button to answer, and put the phone to her ear.
[“Morning, my dearest sweetheart!”]
“Hiya honey!” Josele practically chirped her reply, feeling her heart flutter from the sound of Morgen’s angelic voice. But then she remembered where she was and panic spiked in her. “What’s with the sudden call? Are you picking me up to go out for lunch today?”
[“Unfortunately not. I’ll be staying at the workplace for the rest of the day,”] answered Morgen; he laughed but it was hollow. [“And don’t you think about guilt tripping me about not taking you for lunch after skipping breakfast, I feel guilty enough as it is.”]
Josele’s shoulders relaxed and she giggled. Morgen was so cute the way he worried about disappointing her.
“Morgen, I wasn’t going to guilt trip you,” Josele reassured him. “I’m actually relieved you aren’t coming to pick me up.”
[“Oh?”]
“I’m out running errands,” Josele quickly said. It wasn’t a total lie but it wasn’t entirely the truth either. “And I don’t want you coming home to me not be—”
“Urk!” “Artemis let out a weak sound as she continued to choke but Josele knew instinctively that it would’ve been loud enough for Morgen to hear “Koff!” The cough was even louder.
[“Josie, is everything okay over there?”]
I’m fine but this situation isn’t great, Josele thought as she resisted the urge to groan. “Not entirely?” Josele glared at “Artemis.” She should’ve been more clear and told the woman to keep quiet. “Seems like someone’s struggling to breathe. They might pass out by the looks of it.”
[“You better grab help then!”] Ever the kind soul, Morgen was worried about a total stranger without knowing how much the person didn’t deserve his sympathy. [“Actually, hang up and call medical services!”]
“Y-yeah, I should,” Josele replied as she pressed her foot more firmly on “Artemis’s” throat. “Artemis” began to pale as she lost more air. “At least I know how to resuscitate if need be…”
[“My heart…”] Morgen’s concerned voice came through after a second. [“I beg of you, don’t volunteer to resuscitate the person if they need it. Remember, last time you did it for me, you broke one of my ribs…”]
Josele cringed at the memory. She really hadn’t meant to be so rough with Morgen but she was desperate to save her husband.
“But Morgen,” Josele started, doing her best to keep her voice steady. “It’s not uncommon for ribs to break when performing chest compressions on someone.”
[“Mmm… Still… Better not to risk it. I’ll hang up and let you call help now.”]
Josele had no plans to call for help. But Morgen hanging up was ideal at the moment.
“Right then. Goodbye, my love.”
[“Goodbye, my precious heart…”]
The second the call ended, Josele removed her foot from “Artemis’s” throat and spun on her leg to kick the side of the woman’s head. “Artemis” cried out in pain as she was thrown to the floor. She was bleeding from the head, but still alive.
“You should’ve kept quiet and not ruined the moment I had with my husband,” Josele hissed. “But I’ll forgive that mistake if you tell me what I want to know.” Josele locked her gaze on her victim and cocked her head to the side. “So? What’ll it be?”
After that, “Artemis” spilled everything she knew. The names of her associates, the addresses of their hideouts, and where the kidnapped children were being taken. Josele made sure every detail of “Artemis’s” confession was recorded on the second, work-related phone she carried on her person.
It only took a chop to the throat to knock out “Artemis.” Josele was then free to call her boss.
“Hello, Dis— I mean, Miss Vampire. It’s me.” As Josele talked, she combed her fingers through her mussed hair. She’d need to clean herself up properly when she got home.
[“I assume that my favorite assassin is calling because the mission is already done.”]
“Yeah.” Josele set her phone to speaker and put it on the floor. “I got the info we were looking for. I already sent the voice recording.” She peeled off her plain, long-sleeved shirt to reveal a floral-patterned blouse being worn underneath. “I’ve still got ‘Artmetis’ alive if you want a more thorough interrogation though.” She wiggled her boots off and pulled down her pants.
[“I’ll send the clean up crew to collect her and tidy up your mess.”]
Josele pouted. “Hey! It’s not my fault that killing is naturally very dirty!” She kicked off her blood-stained cargo pants to be left in skinny jeans. “Oh, by the way, I’m leaving a bit of laundry behind.”
[“You can do your own laundry, I know you can!”] The voice on the other side of the call laughed before taking on a serious tone again. [“But I suppose stains like those would arouse suspicion. And someone as innocent as your husband could never know the truth, huh?”]
Josele’s chest felt tight at the mention of Morgen. Josele took pride in her work, removing filth and protecting the innocents of the city. But she still felt guilty on some level because she was something she could never share with Morgen.
Morgen, her bright-as-the-sun husband. Her shining beacon. Her tender, loving other half. The one part of her life that was normal.
Morgen worked at a hospital and saved lives as a doctor. He helped the vulnerable and suffering as a natural instinct of his. He did it all from giving medical advice to performing in-depth surgeries. His patients adored him and his gentle manner of approaching topics as scary as disease and he was called a hero by the people whose lives he’d saved in the past. His colleagues also praised his earnest work ethic. And that kindness of his was needed in a world as troubled as the one he and Josele lived in.
As for Josele, she would commit whatever violence was needed of her. Death was left in her wake as she reaped evil while Morgen nurtured life and goodness. Josele vowed that her dark path was for the sake of Morgen’s light.

42!Miles x fem!OC
Part 5 of the 42!Miles x fem!OC series
WC:1018
Lyricists and musician J. Cole once said,
There’s always gonna be a car that’s better than the one you got.
There’s always gonna be some clothes that fresher than the ones you rock
There’s always gonna be a house somewhere with bigger doors.
But you’re never gonna be happy until you love yours.
Miles was a kid that came from New York.
It wasn’t the best place to grow up in, but his parents did their best.
At first, Miles was a kid that thought success was all that he needed to be happy.
Until his parents taught him to appreciate everything that he had, even when it wasn’t a lot, to not lose sight of the people and the blessings that he had around him.
To not forget the fact that he had things in his life that might seem small at first, but are greater in value than he realizes.
To love what he has before it’s gone.
They moved him from Brooklyn Middle to Visions Academy, wanting the best for their child.
Being nothing but supportive when he got his internship at Alchemex.
And he loved everything he had, not forgetting to be grateful for the beauty in the life he had.
Then Jefferson Davis passed away, then Harmony Jones passed away.
Then the Miles Morales that everyone knew and loved passed away.
He became cold and distant.
He became an example.
The rose that grew from concrete.
A rose that grew from a crack in concrete
Proving nature’s laws wrong, he learned to walk without having feet.
Everyone watched him, thinking he was going to go downhill.
And he did, but Miles did what he had to do.
He became the vigilante of the city.
For his mom.
He learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete.
However, in his mind.
It was Long Live Harmony.
The omega of his heart.
The foundation for his conception of Love. Anytime he thought of what a black woman should be.
It was her that he thought of first.
When she was alive she would never fully understand how deeply his heart felt for her.
Miles worried that they would grow apart and in a way they did.
Harmony brought him to climax without sex.
And she did it all with regal grace.
She was
Is
His heart in human form.
Someone that he could never replace.
She was like listening to a song for the first time and knowing that it would become your favorite, the song that you could never get tired of and hoped never died.
Yet she did die.
And Miles was left with nothing but a time they had together.
A time when all things were better.
All of the moments that were gone too soon.
In his eyes at least.
Only now did he truly see how much that time with her shaped him.
Everything they had withered away.
Everything including her.
Everything except for the memories he cherished.
Memories of the two getting matching Jordan’s and taking pictures with Harmony slotted in between his legs with their shoes pointed in the same direction.
And now
Both pairs of Jordan’s faced each other, like they were going toe to toe.
One pair barely skimmed the floor.
They were torn beyond repair. Scuffed and creased with blood and grime coating the once clean white leather.
The other pair looked untouched. Like they were fresh out the box, with the exception of a few drops of blood on the dark toes of the sneaker.
Much like the owners.
One was bloodied and bruised beyond repair.
And the other was untouched.
Miles hated that he got used to the feeling of the cool metal against his skin.
He could smell the blood that was flowing from his lip.
The music that was playing on the stereo was fuzzy and his vision was blurry.
The colors around him blended into one another.
Like the red on his suit and the red from his lip.
He was caught in a dance, a painful dance that left the punching bag spinning and swaying back and forth after every blow.
His counterpart was caught in a trace.
Intrigued in how far he could go.
How much he could take before he tapped out.
It’s like he was caught in a spell.
He wanted to push every button until he finally broke.
He was tired of being trapped in his mind.
Being wrapped in some lie.
Miles had to lie.
Lie as if he didn’t see the bright colors of orange, red, blue, and purple through the window.
Lie as if his spidey sense didn’t go off 10 minutes ago.
Lie as if he didn’t see them on the beam where Prowler made his first appearance.
Lies as if he didn’t see Harmony roped in the gang of spider people.
Harmony’s breath hitched as she laid her eyes on Miles.
He was looking right at her.
His eyes were dull and sunken in, but they were still the same golden color as before.
The hair that Harmony was used to being out was put away in two braids that barley touched his shoulders.
Miles’ body was clad in black and chains with a bright prominent purple Prowler symbol painted on his chest.
He was lankier than her Miles and he was a little shorter.
But he was still Miles nonetheless.
“Harmony?”
Her name rolled off his tongue smoothly and he looked at her like he lived for her.
Miles now knew what lyricists and musician J. Cole meant as he watched his Harmony look at his alternate with such emotion and vice versa.
He looked at her like she shined like the paten leather on his new 11’s, like she was the Bible and he was the reverend. Like she was his world.
There’s no such thing as having something better than what you have.
There was no such thing that was better than having Harmony Jones.
Not even Gwen Stacy.
Miles’ eyes flickered back and forth between Harmony and the people behind her.
Oh.

EPOXYSHİNE - DRAGON+ (2)
Welcome to our blog post dedicated to transforming your garage into a durable and stylish space with garage floor flakes. Whether you're looking to improve the functionality of your garage or simply enhance its aesthetic appeal, understanding the options available can make a significant difference. Garage flooring has come a long way, offering a range of solutions from basic concrete to advanced coatings that are both resilient and visually appealing.
Garage Floor Flakes
When considering options for enhancing your garage space, garage floor flakes offer a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution. These small pieces of colored materials are designed to be mixed into floor coatings, creating a textured finish that not only looks great but also provides additional durability.
One of the main advantages of using garage floor flakes is their ability to hide imperfections in the concrete surface. They can effectively camouflage stains, cracks, and chips that are often found in older garage floors. This means a cleaner and more appealing look without the need for costly surface repairs.
Additionally, garage floor flakes contribute to the slip resistance of your flooring. The texture created by the flakes makes it safer to walk on, reducing the risk of slips and falls, especially when the floor is wet or oily. This safety aspect, combined with the visual appeal, makes garage floor flakes a popular choice for many homeowners.
Garage Flooring
When considering your garage, the flooring is often an overlooked aspect that plays a crucial role in the overall functionality and appearance of the space. Choosing the right garage flooring can enhance durability, aesthetics, and ease of maintenance. Common options include epoxy coatings, tiles, and interlocking mats, each with its own set of advantages.
One of the most popular choices for garage flooring is epoxy, known for its resilience and ability to withstand heavy loads. An epoxy coating can transform a dull concrete surface into a vibrant, high-gloss finish that not only looks great but also resists staining, chemicals, and impact. Additionally, it can be customized with decorative garage floor flakes for a unique look that hides imperfections and provides extra texture.
In addition to epoxy, tiles and vinyl can also be effective alternatives. Garage tiles are easy to install and replace, making them a flexible choice for those who might want to change their garage flooring in the future. Vinyl options offer a softer feel underfoot and come in a variety of designs that can mimic other materials. Ultimately, the best choice of garage flooring will depend on your specific needs, preferences,
Floor Coating
When it comes to enhancing the appearance and durability of your garage, floor coating is an essential element to consider. This process involves applying a protective layer over the garage floor, which not only improves its aesthetic appeal but also provides a robust defense against stains, spills, and wear and tear. By investing in high-quality floor coating, homeowners can ensure their garage remains a functional and attractive space for years to come.
Various types of floor coatings are available in the market, including epoxy, polyurethane, and polyurea options. Among these, epoxy coatings are particularly popular due to their exceptional strength and resistance to chemicals. Moreover, the variety of colors and finishes available allows for endless customization, enabling homeowners to create a garage environment that suits their personal style and needs.
In addition to aesthetic benefits, an effective floor coating can significantly increase the longevity of your garage flooring. It creates a barrier that prevents moisture and dirt from penetrating the surface, thus minimizing the damage that could occur over time. Ultimately, whether you use your garage for parking, storage, or as a workshop, investing in the right floor coating can transform the space, making it more durable and visually appealing.
Garage Floor Coating
When it comes to choosing the right solution for your garage floor, garage floor coating offers an innovative way to protect and enhance the aesthetic of your space. Unlike traditional flooring, which can deteriorate over time due to spills, stains, and wear, a high-quality coating creates a resilient layer that withstands the rigors of everyday use.
One of the benefits of a garage floor coating is its ability to be customized to fit your needs. Various options, such as epoxy and polyaspartic coatings, can provide different levels of durability, gloss, and color. This allows homeowners to select a finish that not only meets their practical needs but also reflects their personal style.
Installation of a garage floor coating is typically a straightforward process, but it is essential to ensure proper preparation and application. A well-prepared surface will maximize the adhesion of the coating and significantly extend its lifespan. Therefore, it’s advisable to either follow proper guidelines for DIY projects or consult with professionals who specialize in flooring solutions.

Underpinning Foundation: Strengthening Your Home’s Stability with Foundation Solutions
Underpinning is a critical process for reinforcing and stabilizing foundations that have become compromised. Whether due to soil movement, water damage, or construction defects, a weakened foundation can jeopardize the safety and longevity of a structure. At Foundation Solutions, we specialize in underpinning foundation services, offering tailored solutions to strengthen and secure your property. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of underpinning, the signs that indicate a need for it, and why Foundation Solutions is your top choice for foundation repair and stabilization.
What is Underpinning?
Underpinning is a construction technique used to strengthen the foundation of an existing building. It involves extending the foundation’s depth or breadth so that it rests on a more stable soil layer. This process is essential for addressing various foundation issues, ensuring that the building can support its intended loads without shifting or settling.
When is Underpinning Necessary?
Several scenarios may necessitate underpinning, including:
Foundation Settlement: When a foundation sinks or shifts due to soil compaction or erosion, underpinning can restore stability.
Increased Load Requirements: If you’re adding additional floors or heavy equipment to a building, underpinning may be needed to support the increased load.
Soil Changes: Variations in soil moisture content or the presence of expansive clay can cause foundations to move.
Construction Defects: Poor construction practices, such as inadequate soil compaction or insufficient foundation depth, may require corrective underpinning.
Natural Disasters: Events like earthquakes, floods, or landslides can weaken foundations, making underpinning necessary.
Signs Your Foundation Needs Underpinning
Identifying the signs of foundation problems early can help you avoid more severe issues and costly repairs. Look for the following indicators that underpinning may be needed:
Visible Cracks: Large or expanding cracks in walls, floors, or the foundation itself can signal foundation movement.
Uneven Floors: Floors that slope or feel uneven may indicate that the foundation is settling unevenly.
Sticking Doors and Windows: Difficulty opening or closing doors and windows can be a sign of a shifting foundation.
Gaps Around Windows and Doors: Gaps appearing around window and door frames are a common sign of foundation movement.
Separation of Walls: Walls pulling away from the house or each other can indicate serious foundation issues.
The Underpinning Process
At Foundation Solutions, we follow a meticulous and comprehensive underpinning process to ensure the highest quality results. Here’s a step-by-step overview of our approach:
Initial Inspection and Assessment: Our team of experts conducts a thorough inspection to diagnose the root cause and extent of the foundation problems.
Custom Underpinning Plan: Based on the assessment, we design a customized underpinning plan tailored to your specific needs and building conditions.
Excavation: We carefully excavate around the foundation to prepare for the underpinning process.
Foundation Extension: We extend the foundation’s depth or breadth by adding new support elements, such as piers, piles, or concrete footings.
Stabilization and Reinforcement: We stabilize the newly installed supports and reinforce the foundation to ensure long-term stability.
Backfilling and Restoration: Once the underpinning is complete, we backfill the excavated areas and restore the landscaping, ensuring a clean finish.
Final Inspection and Quality Assurance: We conduct a final inspection to confirm that the underpinning work meets our rigorous quality standards.

Meet Mercy
hiiiii first real post !! long story short i got back into writing recently and i've been super into transformers so i created an oc, mercy, to write about in that universe to combine my interests :) below is a short story about her life before the war and to mainly introduce what kind of person she is bc i will be posting her and the pieces i write about her a lot on this blog lol, enjoy!
also please be kind i'm so new to posting any of my work online this is so scary
“Again, how did you find me?”
“What? Oh, Bladewing referred you to me.” The bot stared down with drooping eyes at the shorter one arranging tools on a stainless metal tray, adjusting them to a precision rarely seen in general clinics and hospitals within the city. “He said you were the best, just hard to find. I can see why he would say that, I mean you’re operating out of the back of a scrap shop, granted the cleanest one I’ve ever seen, that’s down an alley and around a corner and through the street-”
“Shush.” The shorter of the two said with steel on her tongue. “I know I’m hard to find, that’s for a reason. And I don’t need directions to my own place.” She picked up one of the meticulously arranged wrenches and placed it on a small hip holster held loosely in place by wiring, ensuring it wasn’t hitting the glass panels on her legs. The taller of the two squirmed in place, watching her with a newfound air of uncertainty.
“Do you know what you’re doing?”
“Of course I know what I’m doing. I didn’t spend eons studying and practicing mechanics and medics for nothing.” The shorter scoffed, shaking her head at the taller one. “You’ve spent so much time asking questions over mine that I’ve barely had a chance to speak. Now, I need your name.”
“Hailraiser.” The taller choked out.
“Lovely. I’m Mercy.” The shorter replied, adding more tools to the holster that clanged against her with every movement. “Now what do you need? If you were referred to me by one of the clients I see most often, clearly something is wrong with you.”
“I think it’s a torn or damaged rotor in my left wing. I tried getting an appointment at the general clinic but they said I didn’t have enough Energon to cover the exam, not even the repair. I didn’t know what to do and Bladewing said you gave him a new vigor with your repair of his coolant system for less than half of what the general clinic wanted, so I wanted to see if you could help me.” Hailraisers voice shook the more he spoke, brow furrowing in distress and hands rubbing nervously together. His eyes darted around the small back room he was seated in anxiously. The walls were covered in pegboards with repair tools hung in multiple differing organizational standards. Smallest to largest, heaviest to lightest, wrenches were hung based on what bolts they would fit and screwdrivers by tip type in perfectly straight fashions. Cracked concrete made up the floor, oil and other various stains covering it entirely, but mostly under the table where Hailraiser sat. There was one small window on the far wall, cracked for ventilation, and one door leading to the scrap shop in front. His eyes fell to the wall behind his nurse for the hour and the large laser rifle hung just above the workbench. “Ever need to use that?” He gestured to it with a shaky hand.
Mercy turned to where he was pointing and smirked. “That old thing? Once. One of my first clients actually, didn’t want to take no for an answer after I denied an ‘emotional tuneup’ at the club down the way.” She glanced at Hailraiser, who looked more faint than before. “Don’t take that as a warning, just a story.” She followed up with a more gentle voice, seeming to have remembered bedside manner. She made a final adjustment to her belt, turning it so the tools hanging from it formed an almost skirt in the front, dusting off the shavings that had fallen onto it from the rickety ceiling above them. “Now, Hailraiser, I need you to lay down and flip onto your stomach so I can access that rotor in your wing.” The bot complied, slowly flipping himself over with weakening arms. “I promise I won’t hurt you.”
Mercy began to debolt the panel on Hailraisers wing as gently as she could, feeling him shake under her hands. Her eyes widened more than they usually were as she pried the panel off and placed it softly onto the platform below the worktable. “Hailraiser, how long has this hurt you?”
“I don’t know, two weeks? Maybe three?”
“Next time just come directly to me. Don’t even bother with the bureaucracy and their joke of ‘medical care.’” Mercy muttered, exhaling heavily at the sight of a slipped rotor. “They would’ve charged you an arm and a leg for a repair like this.” She shifted her belt with her hips, instead reaching her slender hands into the bots chassis, slowly pulling the rotor into the right place and watching for any sign of pain or overt discomfort from Hailraiser. The glass panels on her thighs and upper arms began fogging up with the heat from her own circuits and inner workings and the only sound in the small clinic was the scraping of metal and heavy breathing from both parties. Finally, the part clicked into place as Hailraiser let a loud, relieved sigh out and Mercy allowed a small smile to curl her lips up. She meticulously bolted his panel back into place and helped him sit up with a hand on his arm.
“Now how’s that feeling?” Mercy asked in the same gentle tone she’d used to soothe him earlier, scanning him up and down with owl-wide eyes.
“So much better. I can see why Bladewing told me to see you, you’re a miracle worker! Can’t believe you’re holed up working out of here, why aren’t you at General? Or an even bigger mechanic building!” Hailraiser rolled his back and shoulders, feeling out his newly-repaired wing as he talked louder and louder. His voice then faltered. “So how much do I owe you? I brought 15 cubes, I assumed that would be enough.” He clicked a small panel on his arm open, revealing the small stash he’d brought.
“Nothing.” Mercy removed her hand from his arm as he stretched, crossing her arms over her chest and stepping back from the examination table with a satisfied look on her face. “Take this first time as complementary. Keep your Energon.” She said almost snarkily, waving him off while removing the belt with her other hand, laying it out on the clinically cleaned tool bench. She could feel Hailraiser staring a hole in the back of her head in disbelief, and turned with a roll of her eyes. “You don’t need to stare too hard, I know I’m lovely to look at. You know where the exit is, just come back if you need anything.” She teased the bot with a small laugh. It was the first time she’d laughed that week. Hailraiser lowered his eyes quickly and put the cubes back in his arm holster, leaving 3 purposefully on the table as he swiftly walked to the exit door.
“Someone as talented as you deserves more space.” He quipped as he pulled the door closed behind him.
“I know.” She said to the silence that was left. Mercy let a long breath out before beginning to place her toolbelt implements in their respective spots on her wall, folding the belt itself tightly and placing it in a desk drawer. She mindlessly rubbed at the oil stain under her right eye that never really went away as she worked, her shiny black chassis components glowing under the single floodlight that illuminated her clinic space. Hailraisers story about the general clinic was ringing in her ears as she worked, she cursed whoever was running that sham now. How could her fellows not afford an exam appointment? Those are the most basic tier appointments offered at General and should barely cost 1, maybe 2 cubes. She continued to ruminate as she added the appointment to her ledger. She’d been getting a slow, but steady, increase in clientele from word-of-mouth recommendations from her longtime clients and her bulging appointment notebook reflected this. She only hoped word wouldn’t go so far she needed to relocate again, she liked this space. The housing unit above was a nice bonus for her as well, thankfully the landlord was so old he’d leased the entire building to her for a fraction of what typical payments were and all she had to do was manage his shop in front too. Easy.
The indicator light she’d installed near her bench for the front door of the building went off. Mercy quickly finished her ledger, scooped up Hailraisers Energon “tip” into her own storage partition and exited the back room to face a very large bot at the front counter.
“Can I help you?” She placed a hand on her hip as she scanned the individual in front of her, looking for any damage or discrepancy on their chassis that may show why they’re there. Nothing stood out, and that made her nervous.
“I heard someone might show some mercy around here?” he said in a steely cold tone, matching the one she was using. While her body didn’t relax, her mind did when hearing the phrase, only her clients knew what asking that meant and would tell bots seeking help to ask that specifically. “I see, I think I know what you’re looking for. Come.” She beckoned the newcomer to follow with the twitch of her hand, and they obliged. “Now, how did you find me?”

Understanding Foundation Health Checks What is a Foundation Health Check?
A Foundation Health Check is an assessment process that involves examining your home’s foundation for signs of damage or instability. It encompasses a variety of factors, including water drainage, soil movement, and plumbing integrity.
Why is it Important?
Ensuring the health of your foundation is crucial because it provides stability to your entire home. If there are underlying plumbing issues that contribute to foundation problems, addressing them early on can save homeowners from hefty repairs down the road.
Common Plumbing Problems Affecting Foundations 1. Slab Leaks
A slab leak occurs when water pipes beneath the concrete foundation crack or break, leading to water pooling under the structure. This can weaken the foundation and result in costly repairs if not detected early.
2. Main Line Leaks
Main line leaks happen in the primary water supply line that serves your home. These leaks can cause significant water loss and may erode the soil supporting your foundation.
3. Pipe Leaks
Smaller pipe leaks may seem insignificant compared to slab or main line leaks; however, they can still lead to serious moisture issues over time that compromise your home's structural integrity.
Signs You May Need a Foundation Health Check Uneven floors Cracks in walls or ceilings Doors and windows that stick Water pooling near the foundation Identifying Plumbing Issues Early On The Role of Regular Inspections
Regular inspections by a professional plumber help identify potential issues before they escalate. A proactive approach ensures that any plumbing-related concerns don’t jeopardize your foundation's integrity.
DIY Signs to Look For
If you're unable to engage a plumber immediately, here are some DIY signs indicating potential plumbing problems:
