Anything that isn't horror I'm okay with it (movie recs anon)

i have to recommend the holy trinity of modern queer cinéma: brokeback mountain (2005), moonlight (2016), and the handmaiden (2016), and my personal honor mention to your name engraved herein (2020)

if you've never seen nolan's batman trilogy, you should watch it for heath ledger's performance alone in the dark knight (2008) and while we're on the film bro side, fight club (1999) and american psycho (2000) are musts too

i would feel like a fraud not mentionning the matrix series obviously, and also anything wong kar wai cause this is tumblr after all, but if you've already seen and liked kai wai's work and want more niche films in that same vein i recommend eat man drink woman (1994) and comrades, almost a love story (1996)

This ending to “Comrade: Almost a Love Story” (1996) hits as hard as it did more than two decades ago. Hopeful and poignant, it was the perfect ending 👏🏽

The movie is so, so fabulous ⭐️

An oldie favourite, I am struck anew by how stunning and accomplished Maggie Cheung is 🌸🤩👏🏽
