Lamb of God: Horus, Christ, and the Labarum
The development of the Sun-god archetype in Early Christianity was shaped by the preceding language and symbolism of Egyptian and Greco-Roman religions. When Constantine first beheld the vision of the labarum, the prevailing patterns of syncretism had already provided a shape and direction for the form that the early Christian Sun-god would take. It was represented by the Greek symbol of Chi-Rho.…

Jew here, to elaborate that Judaism is all about action and really not about belief at all. The focus on internal beliefs feels very modern to me compared with the earliest historical Judaism. Even the monotheism is like "you're only allowed to worship this one god" with worship being an external action that is performed (dating back to an era of sacrifice and other public ritual) rather than an internal feeling. Judaism's version of sin that I was taught is more like transgression/missing the mark. There are no thought crimes in Judiasm--the only "sin" is in action. Views on the afterlife differ but they're never the focus--Judaism is about living a moral life here on earth, though different denominations of Judaism differ on which commandments to emphasize (of the 613 commandments, not of the 10). This is based on my own upbringing in modern Jewish thought and someone else could tell you differently--ask two Jews, get 5 opinions.
It's interesting that Islam and Christianity have such different approaches to thought crimes.
Just saw a post saying in Christianity wanting to sin is as bad as sinning in response to hate the sin not the sinner stuff.
Whereas in islam, thinking of sinning is fine, the actual act (done with intention, so accidentally is fine) is what matters. And resisting temptation gets you more reward than never having been tempted at all. So someone who has urges and thoughts about doing x sin and resists will be more likely to reach heaven than someone without those urges at all.
Wonder where Judaism falls on that, and why there was a divergence.

Friendly reminder to everyone that biblically accurate angels also include angels that look like men. Not all angels appear as terrifying multi eyed thingies. “Be not afraid” is not said only when they appear as terrifying multi eyed thingies. You would also be freaked out if a beautiful man appeared to you whilst you were alone in your house praying to God.

Oh, I love this so much!
Ello Mr. Gaiman!
My friend and I had a question!
So Dr Google says you are of Jewish background. May we ask why write about such Christian themes (particularly in GO)?
This is plain curiosity coming from us being Jewish and we both feel like Judaism is not properly presented in popular media.
All the love!

Because by definition there isn't a Jewish Antichrist story. I mean, that's going to be from the Revelation of John of Patmos any way you cut it.
If it's any consolation, the opening of Episode 1 and the first two scenes of episode 3 are very Jewish. And you'll get another biblical epic in Season 2.
But then again, I tend to think of Crowley as the most Jewish character I've ever written. Even more Jewish than Harry the violinist in Sandman.

WHAT’S YOUR ELDRITCH LUCIFER’S PERSONALITY LIKE?? Sorry if this question makes no sense
Tbh I cooked up a whole narrative for it (because I'm dying to fill non-existent lore)... But it's so long and scattered so I'll yap about it someday.
Anyway, here are the ideas I revolve with:
All of these are just from random thoughts focusing on the ' BAD ' side + curiosity idk " my physical shell can be torn apart, smothered, stretched, bent by my own mind " (Angel Lucifer): Innocent face, underlying horror. (Canon/demon Lucifer): One body, that feels like two souls.
- somehow I can connect this with the ideas in Angel Luci's behavior LOL im too sleepy to fix a timeline for it atm.
Evil is a part of him that can't be erased so he learned to overcome it, but never fully accepted it. So upon his silly demeanor, beneath are the true reasons why he is banished from heaven. Sob story? Yeah, that's what they believe in...
Bro lives with this eternal punishment and I'm about to make that reason worse.

The account of the 2000 Stripling Warriors in the Book of Mormon (Alma chapters 56-58) is one of the best known and most cited stories in LDS lore. They are the focus of lessons and talks, are featured in artwork and music, and are mentioned nearly every mother's day because of a passage relating how they learned faith from their mothers.
The parents of these young men were Lamanites who had buried their "weapons of war" and made a covenant to never again take a life, not even in self defense. When they were faced with destruction, the Nephites offered them shelter in the land of Jershon. Many years later, when the Nephites were themselves threatened in an existential war, these parents began to question their covenant to not take up arms. Ultimately, they chose to keep their promise to God, but many of their young sons (who had not taken the oath) chose to fight in defense of the Nephites. They became known as the Stripling Warriors.
The Stripling Warriors are held up as examples of righteousness and obedience. The account relates how, in at least two key battles, none perished. One of the primary takeaways is that if we have faith and are obedient, we will be preserved until our work on the earth is finished.
This belief in the preservation of the righteous is related in Alma 57:25-27 following one of those key battles:
25 And it came to pass that there were two hundred, out of my two thousand and sixty, who had fainted because of the loss of blood; nevertheless, according to the goodness of God, and to our great astonishment, and also the joy of our whole army, there was not one soul of them who did perish; yea, and neither was there one soul among them who had not received many wounds.
It is interesting to me that the heroes of the story, those who were righteous, obedient and blessed, were all wounded. Some severely. And in that fact I see a metaphor for mortality in general: Even the most righteous, who exercise faith and endure to the end, will be wounded along the way.
Wounds acquired in mortality are not a sign of evil or lack of favor with God. We're all wounded. Some of us may have even fainted with the loss of blood. The Savior invites us to minister to and care for each other, much like the Good Samaritan of the parable
