Cleaning big comforters for king or queen beds can be tough. They don't fit in standard washers, leaving many unsure about cleaning their bedding. The challenge of how to clean comforter too big for washer, cleaning large comforters at home, and washing oversized comforters seems big. But, with the right steps, you can keep your bedding fresh and in good shape.
Oversized comforters are big and heavy, like a king-size one which can be up to 10 pounds. This makes them hard to move in a regular washer. If not handled right, they can get damaged. This includes uneven cleaning, fabric getting distorted, or mildew if they don't dry well.
Also, the fabrics in many oversized comforters are delicate. They need gentle care to stay soft and fluffy. This helps avoid wear and tear too soon.
But, there are ways to clean large comforters at home and washing oversized comforters with ease. We'll look at practical tips and step-by-step guides. These will help keep your oversized bedding clean, fresh, and looking great.
Preparing Your Oversized Comforter for Cleaning
Before you start cleaning your extra-large comforter, make sure to read the care label. This step is key to using the right cleaning methods and keeping your comforter safe. Also, treating stains before cleaning can make the process more effective.
Checking Care Instructions
Look at the care label on your oversized comforter for cleaning tips. It will tell you the best water temperature, cycle settings, and how to handle it. Following these steps carefully will keep your comforter in top shape.
Pre-Treating Stains
Spot any stains on the comforter and treat them first.
Apply a gentle, color-safe stain remover or spot cleaner to the stains. Let it work as directed before washing the whole comforter.
Don't rub or scrub stains to avoid fabric damage. Gently blot the stains with a damp cloth instead.
By checking the care label and pre-treating stains, you're on the right track. You'll keep your cleaning instructions for extra-large comforters in check. And your maintaining oversized down comforters efforts will pay off, keeping your comforter looking great.
Washing Oversized Comforters at Home
Oversized comforters often don't fit in standard washing machines. You can use the bathtub for a deep clean. Or, if you have a big commercial washing machine, that works well too.
Using the Bathtub
Using the bathtub to wash a large comforter might seem odd, but it works. Fill the tub with lukewarm water and add a gentle detergent. Put the comforter in, being careful not to damage it.
Let it soak for 30 minutes, then drain and refill the tub for a rinse. This method can be a big help.
Utilizing a Large Capacity Washing Machine
Having a big washing machine can be great for washing oversized comforters at home. These machines are made for big items, giving a thorough clean. Just follow the instructions and use a gentle cycle and detergent to keep your comforter in good shape.
Choosing the right method is key to cleaning large comforters at home. Be patient, gentle, and follow the manufacturer's advice. With care, your oversized comforter will stay fresh and welcoming for a long time.
How to clean comforter too big for washer
Don't worry if your comforter is too big for your washer. There are ways to clean it without a problem. You can keep your bedding fresh and cozy.

Consider taking your comforter to a laundromat with big machines. These machines are made for large items. Just make sure your comforter fits in the machine before you go.
Hand-Washing in the Bathtub
If you can't go to a laundromat, try washing your comforter in your bathtub. Use warm water and a mild detergent. Rub the comforter gently to clean it well. Then, dry it outside or on a flat surface.
Method

Fluff the comforter during drying to stop clumping and spread the down evenly.
Add clean tennis balls to the dryer to break up clumps and fluff it up.
Storing Oversized Down Comforters

Put the comforter in a breathable garment bag or cotton cover for air flow and moisture prevention.
Don't fold or roll the comforter to avoid damaging the down and causing clumps.
Store it in a cool, dry place, like a closet or under the bed, to keep it from getting damp or musty.
Fluff the comforter while it's in storage to keep it fluffy and prevent creases.
Refreshing Oversized Down Comforters
To keep your oversized down comforter in top shape, refresh it now and then. Here's how:
Use a fabric shaver or lint roller to remove debris or pilling.
Sprinkle baking soda on the comforter, let it sit, then vacuum off to absorb odors and freshen it.
Run the comforter in the dryer on low heat for 10-15 minutes to fluff it up and make it soft again.
By following these tips, your oversized down comforter will stay cozy, fluffy, and ready to keep you warm for many years.
Dry-Cleaning Alternatives for Oversized Comforters
If you don't want to clean your oversized comforter at home, there are professional options. Commercial laundromats can easily handle big bedding. They make sure your comforter comes out fresh and clean.
Commercial Laundromat Services

DIY Dry-Cleaning Methods
If you like to do things yourself, you can try dry-cleaning at home. You can use dry-cleaning solvents and special kits. This way, you can clean your comforter without going to a commercial cleaner. But, make sure to follow the instructions closely and be careful with these products.

The Right Swipe - Chapter Eight
A Court of Thorns and Roses Modern AU Fanfic
All character’s belong to the wonderful Sarah J Maas.
Tags: @superspiritfestival @duskandstarlight @perseusannabeth @courtofjurdan @omg-aelin @keshavomit @rainbowcheetah512 @queenestarcheron @mis-lil-red @queen-of-glass
Cassian sat in his truck, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel in time with the music playing on the radio. It was some classic rock channel that his truck had picked up on the drive out of Velaris to the hiking trail where he had agreed to meet Nesta for their second date.
He had been waiting for almost an hour. Not that Nesta was late, but because Cassian had arrived excessively early.
He had woken before his alarm that morning and was too restless to try and go back to sleep, so he had got up and padded around Azriel’s plush apartment making himself breakfast.
But even the elaborate spread he concocted disappeared sooner than he would have liked. He sat at Azriel’s kitchen table trembling with energy that he didn’t know what to do with.
After cleaning up, he decided to make himself useful. Locating Azriel’s tool box, which was some search, he set about hanging the paintings that Rhys had ordered to brighten up the grey minimalist box that Azriel lived in.
He had only drilled the first hole in the wall when Azriel emerged from his room, bleary-eyed and grumpy. “Cass, what are you doing?”
“Hanging the art Rhys bought.”
“I can see that, but do you need to do it before 8am on a Saturday?! The neighbours are going to complain.”
“Right, yeah. Sorry.”
“Why are you even up so early?”
“Couldn’t sleep.”
“Well, go watch TV or something.”
“Do you want to—.”
But Azriel had already retreated back into his room, presumably to hide under his duvet for another few hours.
Cassian closed the toolbox with a sigh.
Lying down on the floor he began scissoring his arms and legs, making dust angels, while trying to decide how best to kill his morning.
He wasn’t nervous about his second date with Nesta, for everything that could have gone wrong already had. Today’s date was a lucky second chance he didn’t think he was going to get, so he was determined that today Nesta was going to get to know the real him, and if she didn’t like it, well he didn’t lose anything he hadn’t already anyway.
Climbing off the floor, he headed for the bathroom.
He didn’t think he had ever showered before a hike, it was the kind of thing you did after you got all sweaty, but given this hike was really a date, turning up smelling ripe wouldn’t do him any favours.
He did however take the opportunity, while he stood under the warm cascade of water, to stroke himself to completion…twice. Nesta’s presence already did things to him, he didn’t need to add unreasonable levels of horniness to the mix.
After towelling off, he spent longer than necessary arranging his hair into a loose man bun, a style that Emerie always told him was sexy. He choose to assume she was an authority for all women and that Nesta would approve.
Grabbing his phone off the vanity, he sent her quick message.
Looking forward to seeing you today :)
Nesta’s rely came a few minutes later.
Hope you can keep up ;)
Cassian’s chest clenched, that stupid grin he’d recently started sporting spread across his face.
Don’t worry about me sweetheart ;)
Adjusting his towel, and himself, Cassian padded from the bathroom back into the room he was staying in at Az’s.
He pulled a pair of trousers from the drawer he had hastily stuck the few clothes he brought with him into when he arrived. He then spent longer than he was prepared to admit debating which of his three flannel shirts he should wear. Cassian was just grateful he didn’t have to borrow anything ill-fitting of Az’s this time.
After lacing up his boots with shaking hands, he decided that he couldn’t sit around in Azriel’s apartment any longer, he was going stir crazy, which is how he now found himself at their date spot, early.
A few hikers who had passed in the hour he sat there had thrown him dirty looks. Men who sitting alone in trucks in the forrest tended not to be up to any good. To be fair to them, about half an hour in, Cassian did debate unzipping his trousers to rub a quick one out just to ensure that any lingering horniness was drained. In the end he decided against exposing himself, given, to do so would be to commit a criminal offence.
It was then that he had started tapping his steering wheel and singing along to the classic anthems.
The radio had just cut to a commercial break when a little red spots car appeared in his mirror. He laughed as it came to a stop behind his truck.
Of course that was what she would drive.
————
Nesta parked her car behind a massive truck. There was absolutely no reason for it to be the size that it was. She was sure that it was owned by some Velaris douche who thought anything outside the city limits could only be enhanced by the smell of exhaust fumes and the sound of an engine revving. She was nervous parking her car behind it, for fear the driver would simply reverse over her car, but it was the only space available in the small lot at the foot of the hiking trail.
Switching off the engine she pulled her phone just her bag and sent Cassian a message.
Hey! I’ve just arrived :)
She hadn’t seen him while she was searching for a parking space, so maybe he was still yet to arrive. He didn’t really know Velaris particularly well after all.
She shucked off the tennis shoes she had been wearing to drive and pulled her hiking boots from the back seat. She had her head down, lacing them up, when a knock on her window startled her.
Jumping, Nesta looked up see a smirking Cassian crouched down looking in the window at her.
Her stomach lurched, brain short circuiting.
Gods.
This was not the man she had met 10 days ago for dinner at the House of Wind.
He was spectacular.
Gone was the nervousness, dressed in clothes that didn’t fit him, with hair that was gelled like a helmet to his head.
Instead, today, Cassian looked at ease. He was wearing a dark green flannel and his hair was tied in a messy bun. Loose tendrils framed his face. She wanted to touch them. She bet his hair was soft. Probably nicer than her own.
If she could just run her hands through…
Nesta realised that she was gaping at him.
Quickly righting herself, she swung open the car door. “Hey!,” she said.
“Hey yourself.” He kept that easy knowing smile, like there was something she was missing.
“You been here long?”
“Nope just got here.”
“Cool, let me just get these boots on and we can hit the trail.”
“Take your time, sweetheart.”
A little thrill went through Nesta at the casual way he called her that.
She ducked her head to hide her blush, focusing instead on her laces. She didn’t look at Cassian but she could feel his eyes on her, watching her.
Her hands shook.
She felt vulnerable, exposed, sitting in her low sports car, his presence looming.
He was so much taller than Nesta remembered, broader too. She was eye level with his powerful thighs wrapped in black work trousers.
There was something predatory about the way he stood. Dangerous. Not to her. Just that he was a powerful man, taking up space in a way he hadn’t the first time they met.
Nesta’s blood heated.
Finished tying her lace, she grabbed her backpack from the passenger seat and made to stand up. Cassian was beside her in an instant, arm outstretched like a gentleman to help her out of her car.
With anyone else she would have not so politely told them where to go, but with Cassian, she was happy to accept any excuse to touch him.
“Ready?” She asked, when she found herself parallel with his chest.
“Yep, you know the way?”
“Yeah I come up here all the time.”
“It seems nice,” Cassian said.
Nesta snorted a laugh, “This is the car park.”
“Yeah,” pink tinged Cassian’s cheeks. Something inside Nesta twisted, she didn’t know how it could go from intimidating in one moment, to adorable in the next. “I just meant the forrest…it seems like a nice spot to go hiking.”
“If you’re impressed by this, the view at the top is going to blow you away,” she said, setting off down the trail.
Cassian chuckled, he was behind her now, following her up the narrow path cut into the undergrowth. It would widen soon and they would be able to walk beside each other, but for now Nesta swayed her hips a little more than she normally would. “And if I’m not blow away?”
“Oh you will be.”
“Willing to bet?”
“Sure.”
Cassian paused for a moment, but when he spoke again, Nesta could hear the daring in his voice. “If you make me walk all the way to the top of this mountain and I’m not blown away by the view I want a kiss.”
“A kiss?” That liquid heat slicked through her again. Where was this bold Cassian the last time they went out? Trapped in that terrible hair perhaps?
“A kiss.”
“And if you make to the top and are blown away by the view?”
“Well then I’ll give you a kiss.”
She snorted, “So either way, we get to the top of this mountain and we’re kissing?”
“Sounds like good odds to me.”
“Sounds like rigged odds!”
“The first rule of gambling, sweetheart, the bookie always wins.”
She snorted a laugh.
“So what do you say, Nes, do you accept those odds?”
“Ask me again when we reach the half way point.”
Silence fell between them then. Heated. Until they rounded a corner and the path widened. Cassian fell into step beside her.
“Do you hike much in Illyria?” She asked him.
“No. I wish I could do it more, it’s so beautiful up there, but it’s…messy.”
“Messy?”
“Yeah,” Cassian shrugged, “There used to be great hiking all over Illyria, but now, the land has all been carved up and sold to logging companies and private developers. The paths all cut through private property so you’re trespassing if you want to hike a trail.”
“Ah, messy.”
“The old-timers really hate it.”
“I can imagine.”
“All of this wild land they had the free run of in their youth, now it’s all gone. Well, it’s still there but no one can use it.” Cassian ran a frustrated had through his hair. The movement showing off the size of his bicep. Nesta was sure it was bigger than her thigh. “There is this old guy in the town nearest me, real grumpy, his name is Beron. He always said that no one could push him off his ancestral lands, ya know?”
Nesta nodded. This was a story she knew all to well.
“So one day, he goes hiking on this trail that cuts through land owned by some development company, they want to log the forest and then extract minerals from the soil or some shit,” Cassian rolled his eyes dramatically, “Anyway, a week later, old Beron get’s a cease and desist letter in the mail from the development company. Apparently they have cameras all over their land and were able to identify him. It’s fucked up.”
“I’m not surprised.”
“No?”
“No. Stuff like this is happens all the time.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, Velaris and Hewn City are growing exponentially, and developers are swooping in to try and make a fast buck.”
“Illyria is not growing, it’s the opposite. Nobody under 40 lives there.”
“You live there.”
“Yeah well I’m special,” Cassian said with a wink.
Nesta gave him a playful shove with her shoulder, it did nothing to move the mountain of a man walking beside her. His shove back however…
It was enough to push Nesta off balance. Her foot caught on a rock. Her ankle twisted.
And then she was falling.
Her arms propelling in an attempt to grab hold of something.
To keep her off the ground.
Just as she toppled backwards a thick arm wrapped around her waist catching her. Pulling her tight against him.
“Shit sorry Nes, I didn’t mean…” his voice trailed off as is he realised the position they were in.
How close he stood to her.
One big arm wrapped around her tiny waist, pulling her body tight against his. Her hands clutching onto his thick arms, a reflex from when he grabbed her, but now she wasn’t sure she would ever be able to let go.
She liked the feel of him against her.
A zing went through Nesta as she realised her breasts were pressed up against his solid chest.
Her breathing hitched.
He noticed.
The laughter in his hazel eyes dying, only to be replaced with something more fierce, determined.
Their faces were so close together it wouldn’t take much for her to close the gap, to press her mouth against his full lips.
Her gaze flicked down in time to catch his tongue flicking out to wet his bottom lip.
His grip tightened on her.
The blood pounded through Nesta anchoring her to the moment. She was surrounded by Cassian, his strong body cocooning her. All she could see was him. All she could feel as he held her against him. She could hear her pulse beating in her ears, the shallowness of her breathing, the deep breath that Cassian took to steady himself before he learnt down, closing the distance between him.
Their lips met, tentative at first but soon Nesta found herself deepening the kiss. Her hands gripping at Cassian’s thick arms as she melted against his body.
She was on fire.
Never had she felt a kiss like this.
This was it.
Whatever it was.
She had found it.
————
Elain’s saw her hands trembling as she pushed the elevator button. The doors slid closed and she found herself staring at a mirror image of herself. She was dressed in a soft pink coat, with a matching pink scarf. Her makeup was simple but emphasised her eyes. Her hair was curled softly.
She had just finished fluffing her hair when the doors slid open. Taking a deep breath, she stepped out into the hallway, and froze.
There were two doors in the hallway, Azriel hadn’t told her which one was his. He had just said the penthouse.
Pulling her phone from her pocket she sent a message to Azriel. They didn’t text very often, preferring to talk on the phone. She just hoped that now he would reply quickly.
Hi Azriel, I’m outside but I don’t know which door is yours.
Standing in the hallway waiting for him to reply, Elain was suddenly overcome with a bout of nerves. She had been so excited to finally meet Azriel she hadn’t be worried, it felt like she had been going to meet an old friend, but it was in that moment she realised that she didn’t know this man. Had never met him. He could in fact be anyone.
And she was meeting him in his home.
This wasn’t safe.
She needed to get out of here.
Elain turned back to the elevator and pressed the call button just as the one of the hallway doors behind her opened.
“Elain?”
Hesitantly, Elain turned around to look at Azriel.
Oh. My. Gods.
His face was exactly how it appeared when they video called.
No.
It was even more beautiful in person.
His dark features, his floppy hair, his hazel eyes that were both shy and kind.
But the rest of him…
He was a hockey player. She knew that. What she hadn’t fully considered was what that meant.
He practically filled the door way. Long lean muscle.
He was wearing a grey jumper and dark grey slacks, so at odds with her pink.
“Hi,” she whispered, her voice failing her.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes…I just…”
“You just?”
“Er…I just realised that maybe this was a bad idea.”
She didn’t miss the hurt that flickered across his face. He moved then, tucking his hands into the pockets of his trousers. It was only this movement that drew her attention to them; the scars that marred his hands.
A hockey injury?
“Was I not what you expected?” He asked, distress settling in his features.
“No, not at all.”
“I—.”
“No, I didn’t mean like that,” she exclaimed when she realised the way he must have taken that. “I just suddenly realised that it it maybe not a good idea to be in the apartment of some random man I don’t know.”
A small smile played on his mouth, as if he was trying not to laugh at her, and Gods was it not the most beautiful thing that Elain had ever seen. She wondered then what he must sound like when he laughed. Some subconscious part of her decided it was her mission to find out.
“I would say you know me pretty well.”
“I feel like I know you.”
Elain could have sworn his smile broadened slightly. “But I understand if you are uncomfortable.”
“I think the whole reality of the situation just suddenly hit me.”
“Yeah I get that.” He settled himself, leaning against the doorframe. He seemed in no rush to usher her inside, a fact that somehow set Elain more at ease. “Can I tell you a secret?”
“Of course?”
“I’m terrified.”
Elain’s eyes went wide. “Why?”
“It’s been a long time since I was last on a date.”
“Sure.”
“No, it’s true! I haven’t been on a date in I don’t even want to know how long. I was with my last girlfriend for ten years and we broke up three years ago. I haven’t been on a date since.”
“But you’re so handsome.”
Azriel smiled now, a broad one, that lit up his whole face, and Elain felt something warm spread across her chest. “I’m flattered you think so.”
“It’s true.”
“Well that makes it all the more embarrassing then doesn’t it? Thirteen years since I last had a first date, I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“You’re doing pretty great so far.”
“You think so?”
“I do.”
“When was the last time you were on a first date?”
Elain hesitated. Her first date with Lucien had been just over two weeks ago. Her sisters had told her that dating multiple people was normal now, but after what Tamlin had said to her at dinner the other night…
She cut those thoughts off. If Azriel was the kind of guy that would speak to her the way Tamlin had spoken to her, the way Greyson used to speak to her, then it was better she found out now when she was able to turn around and flee in the elevator.
“Two weeks ago.”
“Oh wow.”
“But I also got out of a long term relationship.”
“Yeah?”
“Well, two years ago. That was the first date I’d been on since.”
“How long were you with your last boyfriend?”
“Five years.”
“You’ve been on two first dates in the last seven years, and you still have more experience that me.” Azriel was fully grinning at her now.
Elain felt her own smile match his. “It appears that way.”
“I understand if you feel too uncomfortable,” he swallowed, “but if you want to come in maybe we could figure this whole first date thing out together?”
With a buoyancy in her heart, Elain stepped towards the door.
————
Elain.
God’s Azriel had been struck stupid when he opened the door and she had just been standing there. Pretty in pink.
He understood her nerves. Gods he felt them too. All the time. He had been so overjoyed when she agreed to have dinner at his place that he didn’t think about what that might mean for her.
He was so grateful for her now, as she stepped across the threshold and into his apartment, that she had agreed to go through with it.
He wouldn’t have just let her walk away. Not after seeing her standing there in the hallway. Something in his chest had begun singing to him then. He would have asked her to go to a restaurant instead. Not that he ever went to restaurants. His anxiety didn’t allow it. His life was spent in his apartment, at the rink, or holed up in a hotel room whenever his team played an away game. He absolutely hated being in public, but for Elain, maybe he could try.
“This is for you,” Elain said, thrusting the potted plant that she had been hugging against herself, towards him, “It’s a snake plant. You said that you needed some plants to make your place more homely and this guy is pretty hard to kill. They don’t mind shady spots, or draughts, you can pretty much ignore them and they’ll reward you by purifying the air.”
Azriel smiled down at her, “Thank you,” he whispered, “you didn’t have to bring me anything.”
Elain flushed pink, “I know…but I wanted to.”
“You’ll have to help me find a good spot for him.”
She smiled then, that shy smile of hers that stirred things within him, “Sure.”
Gods how had he let it go so long.
Now he was finally around a woman and he didn’t know what to do with himself. He suddenly felt too hot and too cold at once. His gut twist, his heart pound, while other parts of him that he would never dare mention in the polite company of a lady began to throb.
“Let me take your coat.”
“Oh thank you.”
As Elain shrugged off her coat all of the electric heat in Azriel simmered to something closer to concern. He frowned. She was wearing a pink dress, with long sleeves and flowy skirt, it was beautiful on her but it did nothing to hide just how thin she was.
He hadn’t noticed when they had called, but she was absolutely tiny. He was sure her waist was about as thick as his thigh.
He hoped she was okay.
Hanging her coat up, Azriel led her down the hallway and into the open plan living space. “So where do you think this guy should go?” He asked, gesturing to the plant.
Elain paused, looking around the big room. “Maybe he should go over there?” She said, pointing to table near the window that held only a lamp.
Azriel padded across the room to position the plant on the table. “What do you think?”
“Looks good,” Elain smiled that smile again, “something smells good too.”
“I hope you’re hungry. I’ve got loads of food.”
“Spend all day in front of the stove?”
A sheepish smile spread across Azriel’s face, “I was going to try and pass the food off as my own, but I can’t take the credit for work I didn’t do.”
Elain giggled, “You ordered in?”
“I ordered in.”
She rolled her eyes, “I thought you promised to make me dinner?”
“I think I promised to get you dinner, you definitely don’t want to eat anything I make.”
“You can’t cook?”
“I can barely make coffee.”
“I’ll teach you to cook, if you want?”
Making future plans, clearly Elain felt more comfortable in his presence after their initial wobble. Good. “Are you a good cook?”
“I’m an amazing cook.”
Azriel chuckled, “Then I might just take you up on that offer, at leasts I can sample some of your amazing cooking.”
Elain laughed again. Gods that sound was so refreshing, Azriel didn’t think it would ever get old.
“So can I get you a glass of wine?”
“Yes, that would be nice.”
Azriel padded to the kitchen, to pour two glasses of wine. When he returned he found Elain staring dreamily at oneof the brightly coloured canvasses that Rhys had bought. He had hung them up this afternoon in preparation. He wanted his apartment to feel homey, not like he just moved in.
“Pretty cool, huh?” He asked, coming to a stand beside her. Gods she was dainty. Her head didn’t even come past his shoulder.
Elain took the glass of wine from his outstretched hand. Her fingers brushed lightly against his, causing a bolt of electricity to shoot through Azriel. “Where did you get it?” She asked.
“My manager bought them, but I can find out for you?”
“No, it’s okay. I know the artist.”
“Oh yeah? Cheers,” he said, clinking his glass against hers.
“Cheers! Yeah, it’s my sister.”
“The artist? No way?”
Elain nodded, “I just didn’t realise she was selling her work again.”
“Apparently so?”
“Indeed.”
“So, ugh, do you want to eat?”
The mention of food seemed to snap Elain from her reverie. “Sure.”
Padding back to the kitchen Azriel plated up to large plates of food. One for Elain, and then double for him.
Elain’s eye’s went big when he sat the plates down in front of her at the table. “You eat a lot of food.”
Azriel shrugged, settling himself across the table from her. “Food is fuel for me. I need it to keep up with training.”
And it’s nothing to be ashamed of he almost added. To Azriel’s great surprise however, Elain polished off the plate of food her served her, and then joined him for seconds. She did tap out before thirds, but it was still an impressive showing.
Azriel just hoped that it was a sign she was in some sort of recovery, and she wasn’t going to punish herself later. Or that she was sick in some other way.
After they had finished dinner they settled themselves on the couch to watch a film. Azriel preened over how close Elain sat to him. Their legs touching. He took it as a sign that she liked him, or at the very least that she was comfortable with him.
As the opening sequence began, Azriel stretched his arm across the back of the chair. Elain glanced up at him, smiling, she knew his game, but she didn’t stop him. She seemed content to allow his arm, slowly over the course of the film, drift down until it was slung around her shoulders.
By the time the film ended, Elain was snuggled into his side, her head resting against his chest.
Azriel hadn’t been paying close attention to the film, he tightened his arm around her as the credit began to roll. He didn’t want her to move. He was just so comfortable with her. Physically, as they lay together on the couch, but emotionally too. Elain was so easy to be around, his anxiety didn’t flare up.
Azriel knew he was starting to develop feelings for her.
It was just their first date and he was already a goner.
He could only hope that she felt the same way.
————
“You know when you said that I could hang with you tonight, so I could give Azriel his space?”
“Yeah?”
“I kinda figured you meant we could go to a sports bar or something.”
Rhys looked up at his friend. They were standing in the Velaris Gallery of Art, one of Rhy’s clients had a big installation opening tonight. Rhys had only planned to stop by for a short time, to show his face and congratulate his client on her big night, but Rhys had alway enjoyed art. What harm, he’d thought, if he just glanced at the exhibition. An hour later however, and he had only seen half of it.
Cassian had patiently trailed along behind him, making the occasional confused comment as to what exactly he was looking at.
The only paint strokes Cassian cared about were the weather proofing he slapped on his wooden cabin every summer to protect it in the winter ahead.
Gods bless him, he did not fit in here. He was just so big. He kept awkwardly twisting his body to avoid knocking over any of the exhibits. At any moment, Cassian risked bumping into something and the place falling like dominos.
His friend was clearly uneasy, in his work boots and a green flannel, he had come straight from his hike to the event so that Azriel could have his apartment for a date of his own. Rhys couldn’t help but feel bad for him, “I’m sorry man, I just got carried away.”
“It’s okay.”
“Nah, give me a half an hour, I’ll talk to my client and we can get out of here.”
“Yeah?”
“Just let me find her,” Rhys said, craning his neck to see if he could find her amongst the crowd. “There’s food over there is you want to park up and I’ll come find you in a bit?”
Cassian glanced to the table with a frown. “Is it, like, real food?”
“Real food?”
“I thought it was part of the museum?”
Rhys laughed, “It’s not part of the exhibition, no.”
Cassian nodded seemingly relieved, “I’ll be at the food table then.”
“Half an hour, and we can go, I promise.”
Cassian just waved a hand dismissively, as he headed for the snacks, “Take as long as you need.”
————
Feyre kept her head ducked as she made her way through the crowd. She was supposed to be working tonight, well she was working tonight but only in the sense that she was physically at work. She was supposed to be working the crowd, making introductions, chatting with artists, schmoozing potential buyers, but it was taking all her strength not to cry, and she wasn’t even succeeding at that.
It had been 48 hours since Tamlin proposed.
48 hours since he had got down on one knee in the middle of the street and asked her to be his wife.
48 hours since the tears had started spilling, not with the joy that Tamlin had first thought, but with fear.
48 hours since he started screaming at her in the street. How dare she reject him? She was nothing without him. Everything she had in her life was because of him.
48 hours since he left her sobbing in the street.
It had been 48 hours since she had last talked to the love of her life and it hurt.
Gods she needed a drink.
Sniffling she made her way to the drinks table, and took a large gulp from the first glass of wine she could lay her hand on.
“Eh…are you okay?”
Feyre looked over to the man who had spoke, a snotty laugh spluttered from her. The guy was huge, like a giant, dressed in outdoor work clothes. His shoulders curled protectively over the napkin he held in one hand and the cheese laden cracker in the other. As if anyone would even attempt to steel it from him anyway.
She wondered which artist had dragged him along to support them this evening.
He watched her with big hazel eyes. There was something about him that looked familiar. Comfortable. That was the only reason why the next words fell from her mouth. “I think I broke up with my boyfriend.”
“Aww shit,” the giant said, shaking his head like it was the worst thing he had ever heard. “That really sucks. Were you guys together long?”
“We were serious, he proposed,” Feyre’s voice caught on the last word and the sob racked her.
The giant swore. “No girly don’t cry, it’ll be okay.”
He somehow managed to ease himself around the table without knocking anything over, coming to rub Feyre on the back as she continued to so uncontrollably.
She didn’t know this man who was comforting her, but she sound herself turning into his chest, her tears wetting his t-shirt as she cried against him. One hand continued to rub her back, the other, she felt rather than saw, popped the final cheese and cracker into his mouth, before he pressed the crumby napkin into her hand. “Here, have a tissue,” or at least that sounded like what he said with a mouthful of cheese.
They stood like that for a few minutes until Feyre was able to get her breathing under control. She took a step back to look up at the man, dapping her eyes with the napkin he had given her. “I’m sorry,” she sniffed.
“Don’t worry about—,” the giant frowned, “You kinda look like some I know, you know?”
“Oh yeah?” Feyre wiped her nose, couldn’t be anyone good if her swollen tear stained face was anything to go by.
“Do you have sisters?”
“Two?”
“One of them called Nesta by any chance?”
Feyre froze, her eyes going wide as she looked up at the giant, “How do you know Nes—.”
A hand came out to clap the giant on the shoulder, “Hey man, you ready to go?”
Shit.
Well wasn’t this the last person she wanted to see right now.
The giant’s friend took one look at her and purred. “Feyre, darling.”

A Brief Cultural History Of The Toilet
As if trying to live up to its name, the quiet place nowadays seems to have withdrawn into the taboo corner. With a more than 5,000 years old history, this reluctance is anything but necessary, as a closer look at the toilet history reveals astonishing details.
Letrina, inodoro o locus: over time, the toilet has almost as many nicknames as it has gone through developmental stages. From a simple hole in the earth, the sanitary device has blossomed into a high-tech product that is indispensable for our modern households.
In The Beginning, There Was - Yes What Actually?
Indians, Chinese, Sumerians - it is difficult to say whether copper pipelines for the water supply of toilets in a palace in today's Pakistan or clay sewers and masonry sewer systems were there first in Mesopotamia. To this day, experts have disagreed about the first owner of a flush toilet. Archaeologists date the oldest remains of public toilets to around 3,000 BC.
What is certain is that, at the latest with the ancient Romans, progress came when it came to relieving ourselves of necessity. In rooms with up to 25 stone seats without partition walls, they sat in good company during latrine discussions. In the legendary "Cloaca Maxima" - a large sewer that is said to have been built as early as the 6th century BC - the sewage finally came from residential houses.
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
It's no secret: the Middle Ages cannot exactly be described as the heyday of human civilization. After the fall of the Roman Empire, extensive knowledge of the upscale toilet culture was also forgotten. People emptied the contents of their chamber pots on the street. Anyone who went for a walk at night - and could afford it - hired a forerunner whose task it was to warn his master of any possible treadmills on the path.
Some relics are still reminiscent of the bad habits of that time: The entrance oriels can still be seen in many medieval castles - a simple hole was used to ensure that everything fell directly into the open air or into the moat.
Before Everyone's Eyes
It couldn't be more bizarre: Because public toilets were a real rarity at the end of the 18th century, resourceful business people without a keen sense of smell offered their services as mobile Dixi toilets. Men and women with long cloaks literally let passers-by slip under their coats, where they usually found a bucket as a collecting container.
Sun King Louis XIV was far more uninhibited. Among the 2,000 rooms at the court of Versailles, there was only one toilet because even during his royal audiences, Louis relieved himself on his chair in front of everyone.
Toilet Culture Pioneers
We have several men to thank for the toilet as we know it today. In England in 1596, Sir John Harrington installed the first water closet in his Kent home. The toilet with flushing system, cistern and valve even convinced Queen Elizabeth I, who promptly adapted the device for her castle.
Almost 200 years later, the London watchmaker Alexander Cumming picked up Harrington's idea again and added an S-shaped drain pipe to the toilet to keep the odour at bay. The siphon was born. Potter Thomas William Twyford of Hanley finally put the finishing touches to the toilet when he made a ceramic variant in 1870.
High Tech In A Quiet Place
The first commercially available toilet paper came on the market at the end of the 19th century; before that, rags or sponges were mainly used for cleaning. As early as 1957, the first shower toilet that gently cleansed the bottom with water caused a sensation among the Japanese, who are known for their high level of personal hygiene.
But it is not a Japanese invention. This honour goes to the Swiss Hans Maurer, who applied for a patent at the time. In the meantime, the shower toilet has developed into a multifunctional high-tech sanitary object. With wellness functions such as a gently revitalizing shower jet, warm air dryer, odour extraction, and a toilet seat heater, such as the "AquaClean Mera" from Geberit, today's toilet have only one thing in common with its millennia-old ancestors.

A Brief History Of Garbage In Cincinnati: From Porkopolis To Mount Rumpke
In the beginning, Cincinnati had no garbage. Really.
The Porkopolis hogs took care of pretty much everything. The system was neat and efficient and, to a particular English visitor, grotesquely horrifying. In her 1832 screed, “Domestic Manners of the Americans,” the formidable Fanny Trollope relates her dismay, on taking rooms in Cincinnati, to discover no rubbish cart, “no pump, no cistern, no drain of any kind,” to dispose of garbage. Her landlord informed her that Cincinnatians threw everything in the middle of the street for porcine consumption. With a shudder, she agreed the system worked:
“In truth, the pigs are constantly seen doing Herculean service in this way through every quarter of the city ; and though it is not very agreeable to live surrounded by herds of these unsavoury animals, it is well they are so numerous, and so active in their capacity of scavengers, for without them the streets would soon be choked up with all sorts of substances in every stage of decomposition.”
The Civil War was imminent before Cincinnati surrendered to the idea that maybe having droves of hogs fulfilling municipal sanitary functions might be somewhat less than optimal. A city report of 1862 records the decision to organize rubbish removal:
“About two years since, the City Council were seriously exorcised about the system then used in cleaning streets, and they passed an ordinance compelling the occupants of houses to place their ashes and garbage in separate vessels, so that, during the summer months especially, they could be frequently removed.”
Notice the distinction between ashes and garbage. In 1862, “garbage” was largely organic food waste, while “ashes” referred to mineral refuse. Ashes were consigned to two destinations – dumped in the Ohio River, or dumped in valleys and gullies around the city.
Organic matter, whether vegetable (what we might call “compost”) or animal, what our ancestors called “offal,” was commercially valuable. People bid to pay Cincinnati to haul away garbage. Thar’s gold in them thar garbage cans! Henry & Kate Ford, in their 1881 history of Cincinnati, report that the winning 1866 bidder to head the Cincinnati Street Cleaning Department had to pay the city for the privilege:
“Colonel A. M. Robinson was appointed superintendent of streets, by whom a contract was made with George Thompson, by which he paid three thousand dollars a year into the city treasury, in consideration for the house offal and animal garbage he was to collect from the streets.”
Within 20 years, a Cincinnati guide book boasted about the profitable qualities of Queen City garbage:
“The Cincinnati Fertilizer Company has its sheds on the Ohio and Mississippi and Cincinnati, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Chicago Railroads, six miles west of the city, on the river-bank. By a contract with the city this company gathers and consumes all the garbage, offal, and dead animals found within the city limits. These are manufactured into a fertilizer, soap-grease, bone-dust, etc., and shipped to the South, East, and to Europe. The enterprise is quite profitable, both to the city and the Fertilizer Company.”
The problem, as always, was the obstreperous householder who could not comprehend the instructions to separate ash from garbage. Comingled refuse clogged the fertilizer factory and had to be dumped somewhere – usually in any convenient valley or gully, where it stank bodaciously. The 1916 “Citizen’s Book” chastised those who mixed refuse:
“By the selection of galvanized iron receptacles, reasonably uniform in size and appearance, and with water-tight and dogproof lids, citizens can add materially to the efficiency of this work in preventing unhealthful conditions. Also, contrary to ordinance, many people mix ashes with the garbage, with the result that the mixture is rejected by the contractor, and it is hauled to dumps by the city, thereby creating a local nuisance.”
Where were these city dumps? Due to Cincinnati’s hilly terrain, they were pretty much everywhere. Not only did Cincinnati’s random dumps stink, they regularly caught on fire. Here is the 1898 city report:
“Owing to the topography of the city, it has been found expedient, and in many instances wise, for the city to use some of the low grounds and old ravines for dumping ashes, cinders, and such refuse. The careless mixture of garbage and various animal and vegetable debris, not suitable for these dumps, has led to their abuse. As a result, the dumps, in some instances, are a very great annoyance. The dreadful odors arising from them are not only destructive of comfort, but deleterious to the health of persons living near them or to those compelled to pass them.”
Remember, Cincinnati labored until the 1920s under the machine rule of Boss Cox for whom garbage collection became a political plum bestowed upon the highest bidder. Finally, under Charter Government, Cincinnati established a city-wide network of incinerators. If it burned, it went into the incinerator. If it didn’t burn it went into the Gest Street Dump next to the Millcreek. The incinerator system survived for almost 50 years.
Cincinnati wasn’t the only garbage producer in the area. Cheviot had its own dump out on South Road. Dumps in West Chester, Loveland, Arlington Heights, St. Bernard and Sharonville swallowed untold tons of refuse.
Finally, every municipality for miles around signed contracts with a Carthage pig farmer named Bill “Sweet William” Rumpke. Garbage was gold to Bill Rumpke. He earned as much as $20,000 a month in the 1950s to haul garbage to his pig farm, where 600 hogs ate what they could and the rest got sold for scrap. Cincinnati garbage had come full circle, back to the pigs.
Eventually pushed outside the city limits by a horde of NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) activists, Rumpke (and his pigs) ended up in Colerain Township, creating the foundations for Mount Rumpke – now the tallest point in Hamilton County.
In the 1970s, environmental regulations caught up with Cincinnati’s incinerator system. All of them were shut down, and all of Cincinnati’s garbage, like all of our municipal neighbors, ended up in Bill Rumpke’s Colerain landfill.
Now, it’s not ashes and offal that get separated, but common trash from recyclables.

I’m looking forward to seeing him as the villain of the next Bond film as well as the final season of his series Mr. Robot.
Now not really any warnings just nothing but PURE, UNADULTERATED FLUFF with our beloved Rami Malek :) hope you all enjoy this :)

Telling Rami:
Two lines. I can’t believe this. Two lines equals pregnant. And it wasn’t just for one pregnancy test, I went ahead and took three. Cause I knew sometimes pregnancy tests can sometimes give a false positive so I went ahead and got three and shockingly all three said the same thing in the end.
I was sitting on mine and Rami’s hotel bed trying to calm myself down before I had a panic attack. That’s when the door opened and I heard my dear friend Joey’s voice say.
“Yo Rami, Ben, Gwil and I are going out for…..(Y/n)?”
“Joey.” I whispered softly. He ran up to me and knelt down in front of me.
“Hey, what’s going on squirt? Hmm? Why’re you crying?” he said as he stroked the side of my face. See I had known Joey ever since we were 5 years old. Our moms were best friends in college and when my mom moved us across to a new house, she finally reunited with her best friend and it was only fitting that I got along with the Mazzello children.
As Joe became a famed child actor, I got interested in some of the behind the scenes stuff like makeup and hair. So by the time I graduated college, I got involved in some movie roles doing hair and makeup and that’s where I reunited with Joey in set of Wooly boys as an assistant makeup artist at the time.
We rekindled our lost times and he’s been like the ‘twin’ brother I’ve ever had (technically I was born the day after he was but we say screw the facts we’re twins in diapers).
After getting more experience I reunited with Joey being his main makeup artist for his role as Eugene Sledge in “The Pacific” and that’s where I had met the love of my life, Rami Malek. From day one Joey had shipped us together and played matchmaker for us. Then finally by the end of filming, Rami and I started going steady until finally we made it official.
So with my two boys at my side I could never go wrong. At least until today.
“Promise me you won’t get mad.”
“That depends. Did someone say something to you? Cause if they did then I swear to god I’ll……”
“No, no Joey nobody said anything. It’s…..” I trailed off.
“Hey, you know you can tell me anything, right?” I nodded as he wrapped an arm around me. “So c’mon baby twin. Tell me why you’re crying? If you don’t I’m gonna bring out the tickle monster.”
“Okay, okay I’ll talk just please. Don’t bring that out. We’re in our 30’s Joey why must you resort to childish ways when you don’t get your way?”
“Uhh have you not been with me since our diaper years? Did you just meet me? Just because we’re in our 30’s doesn’t mean we have to stop pretending to be an adult. I mean is there an age limit to when I have to behave an adult?”
I rolled my eyes at him and he grinned at me playfully nudging me with his shoulder.
“So c’mon out with it babe.”
“It’s…..better if you just look in the bathroom.”
“Why the bathroom?”
“Please Joey just….look on the counter and you’ll see.” He stood up and went to the bathroom. It was probably three seconds I heard the thundering of his feet racing back towards me.
His eyes were full blown wide and he was gaped in shock.
“You—you’re…..are you?”
“Yes.”
“Please tell me it’s Rami’s.”
“Of course it is dipshit who else have I been sleeping with for the past 10 years?”
“Okay, okay no need to get your pregnant hormones in a twist miss feisty pants.” He knelt back down in front of me and he continued, “But congrats I’m so happy for you two.” He hugged me and that’s when I said.
“But we can’t have it now.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean—Rami doesn’t deserve to have the stress of dealing with me being pregnant and dealing with the next two of the biggest award shows to come. You guys got the Golden globes in three days and then the Oscars in a few weeks. Rami’s already under a lot of stress as it is. Adding a baby into the mix it—I’m worried he won’t be able to take it. And our relationship will be over.”
“Hey, you listen to me sis alright. Rami loves you to pieces. He’s never wanted anything more than your approval and love. If he were to ever turn you away just because of this—then Gwil, Ben and I will freely beat the fucking shit out of him. And you know they’ll back me up.”
“Yeah cause you guys have got the weird love triangle going on.”
“It’s not my fault they both want me.” He teased. I scowled at him and he raised his hands up in defeat once more as he said, “Sorry, sorry getting off track. What I’m trying to say is that I believe Rami’s gonna still be right there with you. Hell he’s even talked to us on our guy nights out of how much he’s wanted to be a dad and have kids with you.”
“He’s said that?”
“If I’m lying I’m crying out velociraptor.” He gently wiped a tear away from my cheek and he said. “But you gotta talk to him. If word gets out to the press first and he finds out that way, it’ll completely blow this whole thing out of proportion.”
“Oh god I can’t even imagine what that would be like if someone found out and leaked it out to the media before I had told Rami. He’d think I was selling out our private life just for kicks.”
“So how about this; either before or after the Globes you tell him. And I can be your backup in case things get out of hand, which I know they won’t.” I hugged Joe and said as I buried my face into his shoulder.
“Thanks Joey, you’re the best non-blood twin a girl could ask for.”
“We may not be related by blood but I’ll always be there for you baby sister.”
“I was born one day after you.”
“Still makes you the baby out of the two of us.”
Soon enough within three days the Globes finally arrived. I was getting the final preparations of my makeup done when I felt arms wrap around my waist. I smiled and said.
“Hey you.”
“You look beautiful.” Rami said as he leaned his head against mine, his nose pressed to my temple.
“Well you look quite dapper yourself Mr. Malek.” I said as I straightened his tie. He smiled softly and kissed my temple.
“How did I ever get so lucky to have you?” he whispered.
“Believe me, if anyone’s lucky it’s me. Plus you can thank Joe for that.”
“Yeah but let’s not give him the satisfaction.” He teased. I playfully shoved him.
“So, you ready to go?”
“Yeah the car’s already downstairs waiting for us.” I grabbed my satchel bag and he held out his arm for me to take. I wrapped my arm through his and we headed towards the elevator and headed outside to the car.
The driver drove us onward to the Beverly Hilton and the second we arrived, there was already an audience, crowds of press and paparazzi, as well as hundreds of other actors, directors, film makers, etc.
“You ready babe?”
“Ready.” I exhaled. The second Rami stepped out, I could already hear the crowd cheering out my boyfriend’s name. He reached inside for my hand and I placed it in his and he helped me out. It was the usual from then on, pose for pictures, go to interviews and then meet up with Joe, Gwil, Ben, Lucy and Alan.
As the night went on the award show began and after a really bad joke said by one of the host’s about Freddie to which I lowered my head and prayed for forgiveness I began to feel a bit queasy.
So when they just went to commercial, I tried to drink some water but the urge to just vomit was too much.
“(Y/n)? Baby you okay?”
“I’ll be right back Rami.” I then raced as fast as I could towards the nearest restroom, I didn’t even care about shutting the door, I just collapsed to the ground and dove right over the toilet and puked as much as I could. “Oh god!” I groaned.
I spat a couple times before shakily getting back onto my feet. I flushed all that I had eaten down the drain and headed over to the sink. I rinsed my mouth out and cleaned my face up a bit. Taking a couple of deep breaths trying to calm myself down and that’s when I heard a knock and a voice I did not expect to hear.
“(Y/n)? Are you okay love?” oh shit it can’t be him. I took one final deep breath and peeked outside to see Brian May.
“Brian what are you—what are you doing here?”
“Well you raced out in such a hurry I got concerned.” See ever since filming, I’ve looked up to Brian as a sort of role model/father figure. See my parents went through a pretty nasty divorce and it really affected me.
Especially when my dad said that he wanted to have his freedom and not have to deal with me anymore. So when I heard my first Queen song, “Someday, one day” and heard Brian’s voice, it was an instant comfort to me.
And when Rami and Joe got involved with the movie and I actually got the chance to meet Brian and Roger, Brian was such a sweet man to me and we just sorta had that father-daughter connection kinda right away. Crazy right? But it happened.
“I’m—I’m fine Brian just…..probably had a sudden attack of the stomach flu I guess. Or probably had some bad soup.” He cupped my face and felt my forehead.
“You don’t seem to be running a fever. Are you sure you’re alright?” I strained out a smile and nodded.
“Yeah.” He looked at me skeptically.
“Okay well….if you’re sure. But if you need to go back to the hotel room, I can take you back.”
“Thanks Bri. I promise I’ll just—stay away from the soup. And thanks for coming to check on me Brian.”
“No problem love.” He said as he gingerly stroked my cheek. I smiled but suddenly felt the urge to puke again.
“Excuse me.” I immediately shut the door and went to the closest toilet and began dry heaving.
“(Y/n)? (Y/n) love are you sure you’re okay?” I spat and felt myself shuddering along the bathroom floor. I then heard the door open and in came Brian. I was about to rant at him telling him this was the ladies room but he cupped both sides of my face and just looked at me. “Alright, you can’t stay here. C’mon I’ll take you back to your hotel.”
“No, no, no. Rami’s award is about to come on. I have to be there for him!” I whined drowsily.
“He’ll understand. Your health is more important than some silly award show. Now come on, up we go.” He helped me stand up but thanks to my heels and wobbly legs, I nearly tripped over. “Here let’s get these things off.” He helped me get them off which decreased my size by 4in. and then we headed outside.
He rung up an uber and also texted Roger to tell Rami that I wasn’t feeling so good. When we piled in the uber, I shuddered suddenly feeling clammy and cold. I felt Brian’s overcoat being placed over me.
“Thank you.” I whispered out in a hoarse voice. He smiled softly and nodded.
When we got to the hotel, he helped me up to my room and got me situated into bed. He placed down some of Rami’s sweatpants and a t-shirt down beside me and he said.
“You can change into those once I leave.” I nodded as he stroked some hair out of my face. All was silent for a brief moment till he suddenly spoke, “So when will you tell him?” immediately I looked at him wide-eyed.
“You—you know?”
“I’ve had three kids in the past, and my ex-wife Chrissie had extremely bad morning sickness, especially when my girls were born. Sometimes she was sick all day.” I sighed. Guess I should’ve known better than to think I could hide this from him.
“I swear if morning sickness is like this I never want to have another kid after this.” He softly chuckled.
“But I’d say congratulations are in order.”
“I wouldn’t say that.” I muttered.
“Joe did mention this to me the other day.”
“He told you!?” I exclaimed.
“I sorta made him tell me. I’ve been noticing something off about you since yesterday. So don’t immediately blame him.” I shook my head as I buried it into my pillow.
“But how am I gonna tell him? Is he ready for such a responsibility? Am I? I don’t think I’m ready to be a mom.”
“Hey, listen to me love. You are ready. You’re smart, caring, beautiful, and have such a kind heart. I mean you’ve already had practice with Joe right?” I snorted out a laugh, remembering all the stories I told of me and Joey growing up together.
“In a way. But I know Joey won’t die if I make a mistake.”
“You’re not going to kill your baby. You already have that maternal instincts about you. I can’t put me finger on it but I just knew from day one that if you and Rami ever made it that far, you’d both make the best parents. Like Deacy and Veronica.”
“You really think so?”
“Absolutely.” He said as he stroked my cheek.
“Why couldn’t you have been my real dad?” he softly laughed and said as he stroked my cheek with his thumb.
“Believe me I wouldn’t mind having another daughter like you. But I’m happy being a surrogate father to you.” He added softly as he kissed my forehead. His hand migrated from my cheek to my hair and with the gentle pets, it made me feel more relaxed. “Want me to turn on the telly to the awards so that you can still see him win?”
I nodded and he graciously turned on the TV and switched it to the golden globes. It was on a commercial break right now and that’s when Brian went up and walked towards the kitchen and I heard the fridge open then shut.
“Here, drink this.” He came back holding a water bottle in his hands.
“I’d feel more happy with a ginger ale.”
“I know you would, but right now you need to get hydrated. Plus sugar drinks are good during morning sicknesses.”
“What if I end up upchucking the water?”
“Then just take little sips.” He held the water out to me and I took it. I unscrewed the cap and gently took a small sip just like Brian suggested and he placed a trashcan by my bedside just in case I did puke so that way I wouldn’t risk running to the bathroom and not making it.
The show came back on and they were just about to announce Best leading actor. I waited with baited-breath as Brian lay beside me as all the actors names were spoken aloud.
“C’mon baby, c’mon.” I muttered.
“And the Golden globe goes to…..” Julianne Moore spoke as she opened up the envelope. “Rami Malek.” At that I was crying tears of joy. Rami stood up and hugged Graham King the producer then Roger and Anita before going up on stage.
“God I wish I was there with him.”
“He knows you’re giving your love and support right now love.” Brian assured me. As Rami gave his speech, I wiped away the tears pouring down my face and I blew a kiss right at him even though I knew he couldn’t see it.
As the night went on, soon coming into the room was Rami with his Golden globe in hand.
“And there he is, first time Golden globe winner.” Brian praised.
“Thanks Brian.” He said as he set it down and the two men of my life hugged each other. When he finally looked towards me, I smiled up at him and I said.
“Congrats baby. You deserved it.”
“Yeah, how you feeling?” he asked me fully concerned as he came and sat down beside me.
“A bit better. Bri’s been taking care of me.” He thanked the rock legend again who merely waved it off modestly.
“It was no trouble. I’ll leave her to you now. It’s getting pretty late and I better head back home. Sleep well you two, and well done again Rami.”
“Thanks Brian, drive safe.” Brian bid us a final farewell before leaving our hotel room. He turned back towards me and he said, “Ready to get out of that dress?”
“Bout damn time too. This thing is so not comfortable to even lay in.” I sat up and he helped unzipped it and slowly removed the strap, but not before sneaking in a few quick yet seductive kisses along my shoulder. I moaned.
“Rami.”
“Alright love, dress first. Fool around later.” I playfully rolled my eyes at him and he helped me out of the dress and grabbed the sweatpants and t-shirt Brian had set down for me. Afterwards he lay down beside me and allowed me to rest my head on his chest.
“All that’s left is the Oscars.”
“You think so?”
“I know so.” I looked up at him and he smiled down at me before capturing my lips with his.
Thank god I had rinsed my mouth out with mouthwash an hour ago, he slowly rolled me onto my back so that he was now hovering over me. His tongue dancing with mine as I felt him tuck his hand underneath my—well his shirt and touch my stomach. My eyes opened up suddenly and I separated from the kiss.
“Rami wait. Wait stop.” His eyes that were once filled with lust, now turned concerned as he said.
“What is it? Are you sick again?”
“No, no but—I……” I trailed off and turned away from him. He lay down in front of me so that I could look at him.
“Hey, whatever it is you can tell me. What’s going on in that big brain of yours?”
“You—you know how I said that I might’ve had food poisoning earlier tonight?” he nodded. “Well I lied…..I’ve….actually known what it was for three days now.”
“What is it? You…..you’re not dying are you?” he choked out the word dying heartbrokenly.
“No, no it’s nothing like that. I…..I’m pregnant.” His face gaped like a fish and his eyes seemed to grow wider.
“Y—you’re…..”
“I understand if you’re not ready. I can just….we can just break it off if you want. I’ll be able to take it.” I began to ramble on until I felt Rami cup my face in his hands and he said.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa baby girl slow down. Who—what made you think I’d ever break up with you because of this?”
“You’re—you’re finally getting the recognition you deserve. All these award shows, the premiere we went to back in London in November. The last season for Mr. Robot and your James Bon role opportunity, I just—feared that with how you’re life is going you—wouldn’t have time for a baby. Or me.”
“(Y/n)…..that is far from the truth. Listen to me; the day I first met you all the way back during The Pacific, I knew from the moment I saw you, you were the one for me. You were the love of my life, and I never wanted to spend it with anyone else. And now you’ve…..” he placed his hand to my stomach and continued, “Now you’ve given me something extra special. A little portion of myself and a big portion from you.”
“I think the baby will look like you more.” I chuckled softly. He softly laughed and said.
“Now, I believe she will be as beautiful as her mother.”
“She?”
“It could happen.” I shook my head at him.
“So you—really want to be a dad?”
“Yeah of course. I love kids. And I want them with you. I know we’re gonna make some mistakes, but I believe we can make it work. We have practiced with Joe before.” I shook my head at him again.
“He’d be so pissed if he finds out we’ve been comparing him to a child.”
“C’mon his literally the definition of man-child.”
“I won’t deny that.” He pulled me close and I felt him kiss my forehead, down my nose giving it a teasing peck before gently kissing me on the lips. “I love you Rami Malek.”
“I love you (y/n) (l/n). Both of you.” He spoke softly as he placed his hand right over my stomach once again.
Baby reveal/proposal:
After all the award shows were over and 4 months had passed, Rami and I were putting the final touches to the baby reveal party that we were hosting at his mom’s place.
We invited the entire cast of BoRhap, and we’d have Brian, Roger and Adam on facetime to be apart of the experience since we wanted to time the reveal for them.
“Everything all set?” I asked.
“Yep, Sami and mom are finishing up the baseball smoke.” Said Rami.
“Great. Joe just texted me he’s on their way from picking up Lucy, Alan, Gwil and Ben at the airport. Should be here in about 40-45min.”
“Good thing I asked Joe to bring in his Yankee jersey.”
“You know if the powder damages his jersey he’ll kill you, right?”
“If he does then I know you’ll give the position of godfather to the other two.” I chuckled and wrapped my arms around him and the two of us kissed. He then as always, knelt down and kissed my stomach and talked to my stomach. “Hello my beautiful princess.”
“How many times do I have to tell you, it’s gonna be a mini-you. A mini-Egyptian prince.”
“No it’ll be a sweet princess just like her mommy. Isn’t that right Cleo?” I rolled my eyes at him and pulled him back up and we kissed each other once again before he wrapped an arm around my waist and we walked off to finish prepping the backyard.
By the time everyone arrived, the party started to get into full swing. I was with Rami about the position of godfather when he looked down at his phone to see that it was time.
“Honey, its time.” I then took out the I-Pad and called up Brian on facetime. While he gathered everyone, I waited for him, Rog and Adam to appear on screen. When it finally answered al three of them appeared on screen.
“Hey there she is!” exclaimed Adam.
“Hey Adam, Rog, Brian. Hope I didn’t catch you three at a bad time.”
“Actually you’re right on time. We just got done with the show in Montreal.” Said Roger.
“Ahh that’s good. Okay so you guys ready?” they nodded. “Okay hey Gwil can you take the I-Pad so that Queen and Adam can see the show?
“Yeah I’ve got you.” He took the I-pad and I stood with Rami at the center of everyone.
“Okay first of all we’d like to say thank you to all who’ve taken the time to come here, and to those who are far away to see this magical moment.” Rami said.
“So the way we’re gonna do this is an alternate way to the football reveal.” I held up the baseball and said, “Joe may you please step forward?”
“You bet I will.” He exclaimed excitedly as Sami handed him a bat.
“Now we’d like for our former athlete Ben to step up.” Said Rami. Ben set his beer down and I handed him the baseball. “Inside this baseball lies the gender reveal for our baby. Ben pitch the ball to Joe.”
“I think I’d be better if Ben Cardy was here. He can pitch a better ball than this guy.” Joe teased.
“Haha very funny Joe.” Ben sassed. Rami and I stepped back and Ben and Joe stepped forward. Joe was already in pitcher position with the bat ready. If I didn’t know any better I’d say he was channeling his inner Pat Murray.
“Just don’t strike out Joey otherwise this’ll be a waste of time.” I teased him.
“Shut it baby twin!” Joey exclaimed. Ben tossed the ball up and down a few times before finally making the pitch. Joey then hit the ball with the bat and soon exploding was blue smoke.
“IT’S A BOY!!!” I exclaimed which made everyone cheer. Rami hugged his mom and brother while I hugged his mom and sister. Joe who was covered in blue smoke at this point, took off his Yankees hat and tried to pat the powder away.
“Rami owes me a new jersey.”
“I’ll get you one for your birthday. Thanks for helping us out Joey.”
“Anytime sis. And congrats on the little guy in there.” He said placing his hands on my stomach. “Hope you know this means I’m teaching him everything I know about baseball and taking him to every Yankees game.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less, especially since you’re the official godfather.” He looked at my flabbergasted.
“Are—you serious?”
“Yeah I mean—we’ve known each other since we were in diapers, who better to take care of my son than you. Maybe he can help you grow up too.” He suddenly hugged me tightly and spun me around.
“Hey Joe might wanna set my love down before you put her in a very early premature birth.” We heard Rami say. He set me down and began apologizing profusely but I waved it off telling him it was alright. “I also have another announcement to make.” Rami proclaimed.
At this rate I was confused. I turned to Joe who was merely grinning at me and gently pushed me towards Rami. He came up to me and took my hand and he said.
“(Y/n); it—it feels like an eternity ago when the two of us first met. But I—I knew from the moment I first met you, that I wanted no one else. You’ve stuck by me through thick and thin, and you’re the love of my life.” He then got down on one knee and took out from his pocket a black velvet ring box.
I covered my mouth as he opened up the box to reveal a beautiful large diamond engagement ring.
“Rami…..” he looked at me expectantly. I felt tears form in my eyes and I couldn’t help but say Lucy’s quote from the movie from when Freddie had proposed to Mary. “Which finger do I put this on?” he chuckled softly.
“Wedding finger. Will you marry me?” I nodded. He shuddered but then gestured for me to verbally say it much like he did in the movie.
“Yes!” He smiled and stood up and captured my lips with his as our friends and family cheered. After we separated, Rami teased.
“Are you going to leave it in the box?” I giggled and took it out and placed it on my left ring finger.
“Oh Rami it’s beautiful. I love it.” He took my hand and cupped his fingers around the ring as he said.
“Promise me you won’t take it off.”
“I promise.”
“No matter what.”
“I love you Rami, you’re going to do such great things.”
“We’re going to do great things. Starting with this little guy in five months.”
“So do I get bragging rights for being right?”
“Yes, I’ll gladly take the heat. Little traitor.” He muttered the last part towards my stomach. I playfully shoved him and that’s when Gwil came up with the I-pad.
“Alright girl let me get a close up look of that ring!” Adam proclaimed. I giggled and showed my hand up to the screen. “Ohh yas girl you’ve got a rock! Perfect fitting for a queen such as yourself.”
“Thanks Adam. And thank you guys for be a part of this.” I said.
“You both deserve it. Congrats on the baby and keep us updated.” Brian said to me.
“I will.”
“And Rami, you better look after this girl for me. As her surrogate father I have the right to beat your arse if you fuck this up.”
“Brian!” I yelled at him embarrassedly. Rami chuckled and said.
“No worries Brian. I’ve taken care of this girl for over 11 years, I wouldn’t dream of letting her go this time around.”
“You better, because Bri won’t be the only one ready to beat someone if things blow up to hell.” Said Roger.
“Make that three.” Stated Adam.
“Oh my god you three are awful!” I exclaimed which caused all of them to laugh softly. “Okay we’ll let you three go. We’ll see you all when you’re come to Madison Square Garden.”
“Sounds good to us love, I’ll make sure to send you some backstage passes.”
“Thanks Bri.” I blew them a kiss. “Bye guys, see you in 2 months.”
“See you then love.” They waved bye to me and I hung up on facetime. Rami and I smiled lovingly at each other and he leaned his forehead against mine.
“I love you so much. Both of you.”
“I love you too Rami. And our little guy loves you too. I bet he can’t wait to meet you.”
“I can’t wait to meet him either.”
The birth:
I was watching from behind the camera as Rami was reading “The Empty pot” as part of the Storyline online. Seeing him read this story, that was close to him when he was a child, made me think of all the future stories that he would tell our little boy in just three weeks’ time.
I smiled as I felt a gently kick to my lower abdomen. As he continued to read on, I got so many visions of seeing Rami read to our son every night before bedtime. He just had that warm voice that fit the perfect storyteller.
By the end of it all, he came up to me and we gently kissed each other.
“Did our little man enjoy story time?” he asked me as he placed his hands on my stomach. At his statement he felt a kick, we both chuckled and I said.
“He wouldn’t stop kicking throughout the entire time his daddy was reading the story.”
“Well I’ll read a thousand stories if it’ll keep him happy.” I smiled and kissed his cheek and nuzzled against his shoulder.
That night as I was getting ready for bed in the bathroom. Removing my makeup and brushing my teeth, plus make one final trip to the toilet before finally settling down for the night. Rami already lying on his side of the bed, just stared at me as I opened the bathroom door.
“What?”
“How beautiful you are.” He praised. I smiled at him and walked over to the bed and he immediately sat up and gently wrapped his arm protectively around my stomach. “I love you both so much.”
“We love you too.” I felt him kiss my temple, down to my cheek, quickly pecked my shoulder before finally placing a kiss to my stomach. He then nuzzled his head at the junction where my neck met my shoulder and soon the two of us fell asleep.
As the night went on, I began feeling this sudden surge of pain plus a wetness between my legs. At first I thought I might’ve had an accident but when I became ware of the sudden pain that hit me like a hammer to the head, I groaned.
“Rami……Rami wake up!” he groaned but sat up and he said.
“What is it?”
“I—I think my water just broke.” He quickly turned on the lights and he said.
“Are-are-are-are you sure?” I then let out a scream of agony and said.
“Oh yeah definitely contractions! Oh god AHHHHH!!!!”
“Okay, okay relax calm down okay. I’ll go get the bag and I’ll get us to the hospital. Just do your breathing exercises that we learned okay?” He helped me up and I began to breathe while he quickly put on a shirt and some sweats as well as grabbing the bag from the closet. “Aren’t you glad I convinced you to pack a bag early?”
“Not the time Rami!” I snapped.
“Right, right sorry. Come on love it’ll be okay.” We went out to the car and Rami drove us straight to the hospital while he got in touch with his mom as well as Joe.
After what felt like hours of pure torture, we finally arrived at the hospital and thankfully Joe was already there to help out.
“How you doing?” he asked me. I glared at him and he said. “Right bad question.”
“Mrs. (Y/n) Malek?” a nurse came in.
“We’re here.”
“Okay well you weren’t supposed to be in till another three weeks.”
“Well the baby decided on now. And I’m pretty sure he gets to choose!” I growled out.
“Okay well we have our private delivery room all set up and arranged, we can take you there now.” Another nurse came in with a wheelchair and both Joe and Rami helped me into the chair and I was wheeled out.
God never did I have to go through anything so agonizing. I don’t know who the fuck to blame for women suffering during labor but whoever it is, damn you bitch to hell and back. I even demanded that Rami never seduce me into having sex ever again after this. But in the end it all payed off.
For after 10hrs of labor, in my arms I now held my son. Our son.
Rami and I were in the recovery room just looking down at our precious 7lb. 12 oz. 22in long baby boy.
“I can’t believe he’s finally here.”
“I know. I told you, resembled his father to a T. Our little prince.”
“But we—never got to pick out a name.”
“Actually I did, during the Oscars. There was only one name that I wanted to name our son if we ended up having a boy, to which we did.”
“What is it?” I looked up at him and I said.
“How do you feel about Freddie Mercury Malek?” he was stunned. He looked down at our boy before looking back up to me.
“That’s perfect. I—I think he would’ve loved that.”
“I believe so too. I wish we could’ve gotten the chance to meet him face to face.”
“You and me both my love.” We then heard a knock at the door and that’s when Joe peeked in.
“Hey hope this isn’t a bad time but, the guys want to facetime us.” Rami gestured for him to come in and that’s when Joe answered his phone and I heard Gwil and Ben’s voice saying hello.
“Joe told us you had gone into labor (n/n), how you doing?” asked Gwil.
“Exhausted but I’ll be better soon. Hope we didn’t interrupt you guys at a bad time.”
“Not at all (y/n), we were just having a little vacation together.” Ben said.
“To which by the way I am not jealous of you two right now.” Joe pointed out.
“Sure.” Dragged out Ben.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night Joe.” Mocked Gwil. I rolled my eyes playfully at them. God those three and their bizarre love triangle.
“Alright you three, no arguing in front of the baby.” Rami lectured.
“Yes Joe show us our little nephew.” Gwilym stated. He then adjusted his phone so that the rest of the “band” could see the newest addition of the family.
“Aww my god!” cooed Ben.
“Ohh he’s so beautiful.” Awed Gwil.
“Have you guys picked a name yet?” asked Joey.
“Well this lovely lady has had a name at the ready since the beginning.” Rami said, “Guys, we’d like you to meet our son. Freddie Mercury Malek.” At hearing our son’s name, the guys went quiet for a moment.
“It suits him.” Ben finally spoke after the long silence.
“I agree, hello little Freddie.” Gwil added.
“The perfect name fitting the perfect newborn.” Said Joe.
“Well we’ll leave you to rest. Congrats mate, you too (y/n). Get some well deserve rest.” Gwil told me.
“Will do, thanks for checking up on me guys.”
“Hey you’re engaged to Rami and you’ve dealt with Joe your whole life. That makes you apart of the band as anyone else.” Said Ben. We waved goodbye and when Joe placed his phone back in his jacket he kissed the top of my head.
“I’ll go see get your mom and sister. Let them know their grandson/nephew has finally entered the world.”
“Hey Joey before you leave, can you grab me my phone it should be in the bag.”
“Sure thing.” He took my phone out of the bag and he handed me my phone. As I opened my contacts, he and Rami gave each other a brotherly hug and he stroked my son’s head before placing a gentle kiss on top of his godson’s head. “I can’t wait till you’re big enough to catch a baseball champ. You’ll be just like your god papa Joey in no time.”
“So by that you mean totally sucks at pitching and can’t quite throw properly under pressure?” I teased. He looked up at me with that bitch face of his.
“You are so lucky you just gave birth otherwise you’d be dead right now.” I stuck my tongue at him playfully and he went ahead and walked out.
“So who are you calling?”
“It’s a long shot but I’m gonna see if I can reach him.” I pressed facetime under Brian’s name. Rami took our son while I held my phone as it showed my picture. It rang for what felt like forever till finally I got an answer from the man himself.
“Hey love.”
“Hey sorry did I wake you up?”
“Just about to fall asleep after performing in Japan.”
“Oh god I’m sorry Brian I can call back later.”
“No, no it’s fine. Is everything okay?”
“Well I just wanted you to meet someone.” I then pointed my phone at Rami and hit the switch button and as soon as he saw him holding our baby, he gasped.
“Oh my god—you….you had the baby already?”
“Yeah.”
“10 hours in labor later and this gorgeous boy has finally entered the world.” Rami said.
“You’re right he is mighty handsome. But I can see that it looks like he had his mum’s nose.” I chuckled softly and I said.
“His name is Freddie Mercury Malek.” I switched the phone back towards me and after a moment of silence he answered.
“God what Fred would’ve said. He’d be floored about this, but definitely in the positive way.” I smiled at him. “My congratulations to you both, how you feeling love?”
“Tired, a bit achy but I’m just happy to have my son here at last.”
“I tell you there’s nothing greater than getting the chance to hold your baby for the first time. Treasure it while it lasts, both of you. Because before you know it they’ll be grown up and running their own company.”
“We will Brian.” Said Rami.
“I’ll let you get back to sleep, again sorry to wake you up so late.”
“Don’t worry about it. This was a good thing to be woken up too. Take care of yourselves and that boy of yours.” We smiled and bid Brian goodbye and he waved goodbye to us. I set my phone down and Rami handed me our little Freddie.
“You know, this whole year has been crazy. Since the movie I’ve won practically every award for best actor for Freddie Mercury. But you—you’ve given me the greatest prize of all. Not only your answer of starting the next step in our relationship, but our child as well. Thank you for being and giving me my greatest award ever (y/n).”
“I could say the same to you Rami.” We kissed each other and just admired our child, born out of pure love and named after the most beloved man of all time.

Julian tried to focus on Rose and on the movie. But oh god it was so hard too, there were old suppressed memories trying to resurface and Julian COULD NOT let them. He poured himself a glass of whiskey, more than what he usually drank and he tossed it down his throat like a shot of tequila. He grunted and then sighed as the liquid stung his throat.
“Jesus christ Amor.” Rose looked up at him and sat up “That was a lot more than usual. You don't usually shoot whiskey.” She put down her glass and slid close, almost in his lap “Are you sure you're okay? Did something happen during the mission?”
“I’m fine Rose just….tired.” He picked up the bottle and stood up, “I’m...going to bed.” He walked out of her room and to his own, which...hadn’t happened in….well a year. But Julian didn’t really care, not now anyways.
Rose watched him leave, her heart sinking slightly. Had she done something wrong? It was possible…. It was probably her fault. With a heavy sigh she turned the movie off and put on the news, taking the bottle of whiskey and draining it before the commercial break and eventually passing out on the couch in a pile of blankets and self doubt. Eventually One of the Capos Vice, woke her up, helping her clean up.
Julian slammed the door to his room, and flopped on the bed, the dresser across from him almost beckoning him. He growled and turned over, his eyes wandering over to that bottom drawer, he looked down at the bottle of wine he carried with him.
“I can hear your gasp of horror.” He sighed, “If you saw what shit i was drinking tonight you’d smack me square in the face…” he took a swig, “but it keeps me from remembering you...even if you are turning in your grave..” he stared at that drawer again, it was calling to him. He flipped it off, clearly drunk, “Fuck offfffff….I have a good life now.” He drained the bottle and blacked out in his bed, not even bothering to change.
Plume was the one who found him later that night, dropping his bag on the floor and dragging him to the shower, putting him in and blasting him with ice cold water “Despierta idiota. I don't know how the hell you drained that bottle alone.”
He jerked awake coughing and gasping for air. “PLUME! THE HELL?!” He shouted through his coughing fit, rolling onto the floor with a thud, groaning in pain, he was hungover as all shit. “We're celebrating a mission gone right...I assume Rose told you…”
“No actually. I heard from witnesses.” Plume through a towel onto him “Rose left for the night. I assume she went to the red district to drown sorrows with a stripper or a bottle of vodka.” he leaned against the sink cabinet, his golden eyes showing their usual look of anger.
“Ahhhhhhhhfuck…” he moaned, standing up and rubbing his auburn hair dry, “I’ll go get her if that’s what you're suggesting.”
“No. Im wondering what the fuck you did to her. It's been months since she’s done that.” He huffed and walked into the bedroom “You aren't leaving the den.”
Julian scoffed, “fine...so be it.” He threw off his shirt and searched his closet for a new one. “We just saw a dog yesterday thats all…” he called from the closet rummaging around for a clean jacket.
Plume rolled his eyes “A dog doesn't cause emotional stress to our boss idiot.” He sat on the bed and tied up his hair “There was an empty whiskey bottle and cigarette box on the couch. She was pretty drunk when she left it’d looked like.
“Well what else do you want me to say Plume?” He shrugged, running a hand through his hair. “I thought I recognized the dog and it threw me off for a while, THAT’S IT.” He appeared from the closet with fresh clothes on throwing his hands out in a dramatic way.
“Jesus christ. And did you tell her that it threw you off or did you just leave her so you could drink alone?” He stood and walked to the door “Because I think she blames herself for the mess you're making of yourself.”
“Ah shit..” he sighed, leaning against the closet entrance, “well...no I didn't tell her. Are you sure you still want me to stay here? Because the sooner I don’t cause anymore emotional messes, the sooner we can have our Queen back.”
“...Take the car. Naga has the keys. Make sure to check the Raven.” He tossed the keys over and grumbled “She’d only listen to you anyways.”
Julian was out the door in a hurry and sped to the Raven, throwing open the doors and frantically searching for his love. The sooner he fixes this...the sooner he can move on and forget the years and years of suppressed feelings.
Rose was in her usual booth at the bar, nursing a glass of tequila and groaning to herself. Her knuckles were bruised from punching a wall and she was extremely drunk.
“I know you don't want to see me right now.” He started to say, “but...I do owe you an explanation as to why I left with that….horribly flat tasting wine.” He sat in front of her, almost expecting her to react violently towards him.
She rolled her eyes, dowing the drink with a growl “Fuck off ilya. I don't know what i did but clearly you don't trust me enough to say so.” She stood, wrapping herself in her leather jacket and starting towards the door.
“Wait! Please just...hold on a second.” He grabbed her arm, “It’s just the dog that’s all..I thought I recognized it from...somewhere and it threw me off. It has nothing to do with you.”
She laughed, lacing it with slight drunken malice “Oh bull shit ilya. Let me go…” She stumbled back, leaning against him and growling “Damn alcohol.”
Julian rolled his eyes with a huff and in one smooth motion he picked Rose up bridal style and left the bar. “We’re going home..I’ll send Plume for your car later.”
“Fuuck you…” She slurred, leaning into his chest. He was so warm, it was almost impossible not to be soothed by his touch and scent “Fucking ditched me...son of a bitch…” She wiggled in his grasp until giving into her numb thoughts.
“Curse me out all you want, you’re not changing my mind.” He set her in the car and started to drive. An awkward silence filling the space as Julian hoped Rose would drop the topic so they could move on with life.
Rose was quiet on the way home, looking out the window as she got home. Plume made Julian put her to bed so he could get the car. Rose leaned into Julian as they got to the mattress, her eyes were dull.
“Sleep love.” He crooned, pulling a blanket over her, he kissed her forehead. “The Den needs their Cat.”
The alcohol was starting to take over her brain as she whispered “Don't call me that… you don't love me….” she was passed out in minutes.
“I love you more than there are stars in the sky…” he whispered into her ear before her lids closed. Julian returned to his room, the drawer still calling out to him. With a hard sigh he pulled out his knife and pulled back the comforter on his bed. On the left side of the mattress there was a gash in the bed sloppily sewn together in bright red thread. With one swipe of the knife Julian cut the threads and stuck his hand in the opening. He spent a few minutes searching before his fingers graced the surface of something cool and metal. He pulled it out and there it was...a key.
He walked over to the dresser and knelt down, staring the locked bottom drawer in the face. He hesitated for a moment before unlocking the drawer. Inside its wooden interior was a single magazine.

Gia Woods on Finding Her Identity Through Music [Q&A]
Gia Woods is taking the LGBTQ community by storm. Through her music, she’s inspiring many from the community to embrace their own identity. Growing up in a strict Persian household, Woods struggled to find herself. But through music, she was able to express herself in ways she never thought were possible. She released her debut single, “Only a Girl”, in 2016. The song served as her coming out song. Since then, Woods has been a voice to many going through the trial and tribulations of finding their true identity.
We were fortunate enough to get to know Gia Woods a little better with the release of her brand new single, “Naive”. From what she’s been up to during quarantine, to her experience with The Calvin Klein Pride campaign, she let us into her amazing life.
Ones To Watch: First off, how are you doing during all of this craziness?
Gia Woods: I just spent the past 30 minutes cracking an egg on my forehead for TikTok content, so you tell me. Jokes aside, I’m actually doing okay though. I’ve been writing a lot. It feels very familiar because it reminds me of when I was younger and would lock myself in my room and write songs on my guitar all day. I was a loner!
What have you been doing to pass the time during quarantine?
I haven’t been watching too much Netflix, but I did rewatch Madonna’s Truth or Dare documentary the other day. It actually pulled me out of a creative funk, watching this strong badass in one of the biggest moments of her career. Other than that, I’ve definitely been going on more walks. This pandemic has really made me appreciate the smaller things.
Who has been putting out some of your favorite music during quarantine? What have been your jams?
There’s been so much good music to come out these past couple months, but I’ve actually found myself revisiting my old CD collection. I’ve been listening to Nelly Furtado’s Loose, Green Day’s Dookie and Queen’s Night at the Opera a lot.
Have you been doing a lot of writing during your time inside?
Of course! I’m a writer, so that’s one of the best ways for me to keep my brain busy. By the time we’re out of quarantine, I’m going to have like five full albums written!
What are some of your hopes that everyone can take away from our time of social distancing, staying home, being with family, etc.? (i.e keeping the planet cleaner, appreciating family more, etc.)
There’s definitely been more of an appreciation of the smaller things in life that we take for granted, whether it’s phone calls with friends or getting out and appreciating nature. I also think this time has forced people to be more creative! I’m so inspired seeing the way people are creating some really cool stuff while they're alone.
Can you tell us a bit about The Calvin Klein Pride campaign and it meant for you to be a part of it?
So, I actually have a crazy story… A year ago, I released a music video for my song “New Girlfriend,” and when we were brainstorming, we were really inspired by the casual feel and black and white aesthetic of Calvin Klein ads. It’s crazy that a year later, I’m in my own campaign...I feel like I manifested that in a weird way? It’s also so cool to be in a campaign with so many badass trailblazers. Like Pabllo Vittar, are you kidding me? He’s a drag queen in the most dangerous country to be openly gay, and here he is thriving and playing huge festivals. That’s so inspiring. I still can’t believe I’m part of this campaign. I’m waiting for someone to pinch me and wake up from this dream.
How has your heavy involvement and influence within the LGBTQ community influenced your music?
I’m so lucky to be a part of such a supportive community, and I’m honored to be able to provide representation for queer and questioning Persian youth that I craved so much growing up. Sonically, I’m not sure being lesbian really influences my music -- but being Persian definitely has. Actually, some of the songs I’ve been writing lately have a strong Middle Eastern vibe to them.
Tell us a little about this new release! What steps did you take in the making of it?
I was getting out of a toxic relationship that felt like a never ending cycle of back and forth, but this time I knew it was really over. I remember going to the studio that day emotionally drained from this breakup. I kind of lost my identity, but writing this song really helped me remember who I was and made me fall in love with making music all over again. This is the kind of song I had been wanting to make for years.
What’s your writing/recording process look like?
Usually I come up with the chords when I’m at home and I’ll bring them to a studio session. This song was a little different. I worked with a producer duo called The Orphanage. I told them I had wanted to do something that had a Radiohead vibe to it and they nailed it almost immediately. As soon as I heard their riffs, me and my co-writer Barkley wrote the lyrics in an hour.
What was the inspiration behind the production?
I was really inspired by late ‘90s alt rock, like Radiohead and No Doubt. I think a lot of what we’re hearing on the radio these days feels very clean and commercial, so I wanted to embrace a bit of a rough, raw sound.
Why the name ‘Naive’?
I had two different ex girlfriends tell me that they never felt like I was as invested in the relationship as they were. During this studio session, I brought this up and we thought it was crazy that they both said that. I did care about them so much, but I wasn’t naive… it felt like they had such high expectations of what our relationship should be and I thought it was naive to be that invested so quickly. The first verse really sums it up: “All my exes said the same thing / maybe they’re right / I’m the high they’re always chasing / but they’re never mine.”
Can you give us a little background on the lyrics?
My favorite line is in the pre-chorus, where I sing, “I’ll love you, but let me do it recklessly.” It’s kind of saying that I’m going to love you with all that I can, but I didn’t want my girlfriend to have expectations of what our relationship looked like. I think romance movies are so cheesy… I think it’s healthy to have fights from time to time? Without it, what’s the point? Where’s the passion? That just feels boring to me. I feel like a lot of people fantasize about the ideal relationship, but I’m the opposite of that. I don’t expect anyone to be perfect. Actually, I’d prefer that they’re not.
What are you really trying to get across with this release? What mark do you hope to leave for everyone listening?
This goes back to how I feel about pop music… I think a lot of the stuff we hear these days sounds so sterile and reductive. I think a lot of current artists are just copying their peers and that doesn’t make sense to me. I wanted to reference the music that I grew up with. And with that, I hope my music has the same effect that Madonna and Green Day and Radiohead had on me when I was younger in that it was an escape for me. I hope my music can also be an escape.
Lastly, what more can we expect from the great Gia Woods?
Well, I was supposed to release my debut EP, Cut Season, in June and then go on tour to support that, but coronavirus had a different plan for just about everyone on the planet. So we’re reworking our release plan to figure out what makes sense. But if you like “Naive,” you’re going to love Cut Season...I promise that!

Silas - Journal Entry #38-41
38. Sender of Messages.
When the amber haired, leather clad Sin’dorei handed me the small card with the inscription, ‘Celiá B. - Sender of Messages’ I knew right then that this was my ticket. Our conversation persisted throughout the night as the last call bell rang, sharing similar values of how we see this needless war. Eventually she yawned, an empty plate in front of her from when she scarfed down her meal, I told her I would contact her when the time was right as she was passing through on her way to Stormwind and then back to Silvermoon. Clutching the card, we made our way to our respective rooms in the now quiet inn.
She had disappeared by morning, apparently much more quiet in her exit than the previous tenants. Leaving before dawn. Hmm. I dressed and continued my routine. Trail. Tavern. Bed. Laying awake, staring at the ceiling wondering how in the world I would be securing passage to Eversong. Not that I expected passage with her, but that would had been a nice gesture, although she did not know of the bounty on my head, or at least she did not give that away if she did.
Another thought still persisted through my mind - if any suspicion arose from my act of self defense, Light I hope not, I feel like I should had wiped my hands clean to someone, anyone... Gods.
Trail.
Tavern.
Bed.
I wrote a letter to the dock-master to notify me of when the next commercial vessel would be making its way out here for Eastern Kingdoms. Hopefully I could leave this place behind me, despite loving the atmosphere, I could tell that the circumstances that lead me here were starting to drive me mad. My actions would surely have consequences. Soon. I lay out on the bed once more, letting my paranoia go - mouthing a silent prayer. I shut my eyes and reopened them to find myself back in a familiar sight.
39. Dark Depths.
The deteriorating tower loomed in the dark and sickly cyan moonlight, refracting through the dead trees of the forest. I was in the Ghostlands once again. I carefully moved towards the pitch black interior with the only light in the room coming off of the brazier, still lit from the last interaction, illuminating the two chairs that sat across from one another. I hesitated, feeling the anxiety pool into my throat but I had to continue forward. I had to talk to you.
She sat in the chair, compacted with dust, just like me, only in a much more human form. She looked young, maybe early twenties, with a combination of plate and mail armor, auburn hair that was pulled back into a pony-tail and amber piercing eyes. She grasped a small war hammer in her lap, twirling the handle like it weighed nothing, as the compacted dust shifted her form, floating out in some places as if she was not complete. She grinned wickedly at me as I sat in the chair in front of her once again, pursing her lips and tucking away at a rogue hair behind her ear. She spoke with a warmth I had not felt in long time, feeling as though they were the soothing tones of my mother, but she was obviously fixated on the way she delivered her question, “So we meet after all this time. Why now?” Her form warped, falling away at her facial features as she wrapped her fists around the hammer, I could hear the sound of her gloves clenching.
“I guess I could ask the same of you. Who are you anyway?” I retorted, now seeing the resemblances between the girl in front of me and the girl I chased on the trail. “Why did you almost lead me off a cliff?”. Her scoff was audible as the corners of her mouth dragged into a more solemn expression, “I was only trying to bring you back here. You’ve kept me waiting over a week, I think I deserve the answers first. You’ve got all the time in the world for being dead anyway-” She spit out that last line, obviously my disposition pained her in some way. She lowered her voice, looking down as if talking to herself, but I hear her just the same, “She must have it out for this one, no matter.”
I eyed the human girl with a curiosity. It seems she knows everything already about to unfold, but still dumbfounded. Or simply playing dumb; so I played along, “I don’t know you, although you seem familiar all the same. Why should I tell you anything?”
Her voice changed to a sultry tone, calming the fragments of dust floating around the flame of brazier before us, “Because, you don’t know it yet, but you are going to need this girl one day. And her body will rot here if you do not give me the answers that I need - Why are conspiring against me, Silas? Why have you come back after trading your life away all those years ago? Why have you forsaken our deal?” The words hit like bile, her form was not her own, she was possessed, that was for certain. Her eyes lingered upon my form, ever vigilant, studying everything about me. Piercing through what was left of my soul.
“I was raised by the Banshee Queen’s Val'kyr. Past that I could not tell you. I did not mean to spite you by returning to walk this plane.” I gestured my arm around the flame, sitting upright in the chair. “I’m still trying to figure out why I’ve come back in the first place. I have no purpose-” My words were cut off by her anger. The dust chaotically danced around our forms, more and more of her began to wither away. “You can prance around my words all you want, Silas. You broke our deal. No one goes back on a deal and lives, even in undeath. I am coming for your light, which should had been silenced a millennia ago, and then...” Her eyes dart from looking to me, to admiring the now fading forearm of the girl she was possessing. “...Your legacy. Your light shall be exiled from this world. In all forms.”
This girl... the soothing mother’s call. Gods, the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. The sense of protection. Every priest is trained to protect those devoted to the Light, this girl, flesh and blood was my kin no less - and devoted by the details I was now noticing, worn tome on her belt, an Argent Crusade tabard, even a holy symbol. I needed to protect her at all costs. My voice no longer shook with anxiety, instead I let the light guide my heart, hopefully to feel her aura and sense her true location. If I find her. Then I find the presence that has haunted this bargain for far too long. “I can’t let you do that. I was ignorant in my youth to trust you, and if that means now that I have to go back on our deal, so be it. Light shall prevail. Light will always guide the way.”
I felt a chill down my spine, as the flame turned from a dull orange-red, to pure indigo and then violet. Her anger swelled as the holy glow of the girl was consumed into void. I had to remind myself her possessed form was merely a projection as her fading body writhed away screaming in pain. I never got a name or location of the girl, only simply that my blood coursed through her veins. That was all I needed, as darkness consumed me whole, and I fell into the pit of the void.
40. Reminders.
To Mr. K,
I hope that your stay in Rustberg Village has been well. I received your letter last night and after checking the reports there will be two ships coming into port within the next week, both are multi-purpose vessels, of which, one will be traveling south to Booty Bay, Stranglethorn Vale, and the other will be going to Sunsail Anchorage, Eversong Forest.
I hope for your speedy reply so that I can let either vessel know of potential passengers and arrange payment for fare in the coming week on your behalf.
Regards,
Dock-master Urum
I felt drained in the following days. Drinking. Writing. Staying on my routine, but I couldn’t help but think of the dream; maybe I wasn’t meant to come back, or maybe someone else entirely influenced my return. I prayed to the Light to guide me to answers.
The docks were quiet as the boats later in the week finally made it into the small port, the crews mingling around, unloading crates of fresh produce and some trade goods. A batch of fine mooncloth caught my eye, but I had to pass on even thinking about how much that is worth, but I couldn’t help but imagine tailoring some new armaments out of it, one day. I made my way towards the dock master’s hut peering at the dwarf seated at a small desk with a large stack of paperwork, as he was speaking with a goblin. I waited in line, picking up bits and pieces of conversation about some political unrest in Booty-Bay, but nothing too interesting, as the two persisted on for ten, then eleven, twelve minutes before the dwarf noticed me and his eyes perked up asking the goblin if they could continue the conversation a little later of a pint. The goblin nodded and leered at me as he exited the hut, I shuffled in his place and looked to the dwarf, a finely embossed desk plate read, ‘Urum, Dock-master’, and he forced a smile, not sure how to feel about my presence.
I began, “I am Mr. K, Dock-master, I apologize for the length between the letter and now but I have the coin ready to depart today. I would seek passage to Sunsail if that vessel has arrived?” He looked at me with an appraising gaze and his tone seemed apprehensive but he allowed the interaction, “Aye, lad, sure. The Valtameri arrived an’ hour ago and they are still unloadin’ her, let’s see here... according to their rates they’ve got single cabins available for ‘bout 180 gold a’night, the venture there is two days, so she’d be 360 for the trip. I can see about working them-” I cut him off.
“They aren’t affiliated like your goblin friend, no offense of course.” I asked Urum bluntly, “No, they aren’t affiliated, last I heard Captain Kyna, actually spit n’ the direction of a few of the High Magisters, she ain’t taking a fondness of this war, tha’s for sure.” His reply seemed sincere, but also curious, “Why’d you ask? You on the run?”
It took a bit of negotiating, ended up paying a “Late fee” to shut him up and to ask anymore questions. Captain Kyna showed me my quarters and asked that I be there at dawn tomorrow to cast off. No issue.
The last night in the tavern was a somber one. I spoke with a few of the patrons, one of them, a former mariner named Taoln, told me of his life and his daughter who just started teaching at Stormwind University; to which I gave him my copy of Elements of Medicine as a gift to her. Hopefully his daughter finds it as a good resource as I did when I helped write it with Dorene. I then said my goodbyes to the staff of the Heart of the Raven, hopefully I could come back here with a clean conscious and a clean record next time. Hopefully soon.
41. Valtameri.
I decided it for the best not to make friends with this crew. Simply stating my name as Mr. K if they asked. I could understand now why some of us who risen as Forsaken claimed different names in death than in life. Not that they were ashamed of their past, well the majority of us weren’t, but that they had nothing to gain from taking that life forward into their new lives. Why muddy things when you are starting up new? For me, I never understood that until now, I actually went against this line of thinking, since one of the goals of the desolate council was to eventually be accepted for our past and our future. To live unimpeded from judgement. We were no longer scourge, mindless, or unfeeling. Yes, we were dull, and maybe didn’t have organs, sewing ourselves up to continue on, or my case, nothing but dust held together by conflicting energies in endless discomfort - but we were people with thoughts and emotions and legacies. We are people. Even if we choose to leave that past all behind. I wasn’t planning to do this for long, only in the short term, but I finally understand why some would be inclined.
The two day journey was uneventful to say the least, honestly the best time for reflection I’ve had in weeks since the attack in Stormsong. I looked back onto the journal entries with the tablet, adjusting my research on the effects of having nearly been drained of all my Light. I think that’s what she was hoping for, but what she was going to receive was far more than what she bargained for. My end of deal had... yes gone unfulfilled, but that wasn’t my fault, if I was meant to stay dead - I can’t believe I’m writing this - She would have made sure of it. I feel like influence of void from the tablet may have purged a portion of the shadow from when I was initially brought back, hence why, when I was saved by Roscoe, Sol, and Lea - The void was consuming nearly every fiber of my being. When the tablet lost it’s grip on me and the energy escaped, the light immediately filtered back in, and even more so than I’ve ever had both in life or death up to this point.
I still feel like I’m gathering strength every day, despite the interactions that I’ve had with the entity I had struck a deal with all those years ago, coming back to haunt me once more, but my theory is that it shows that she knows that I’m no longer weak. I’m no longer a pawn for her to gain anything out of. I have ascended into her threat.
Light filtered into the wooded canopy. It has been nearly four years since I’d seen such beauty. Forever fall of leaves, brightly orange and red, the creme colored trunks of trees and aura of the peace. In the distance I could just barely make out the stark contrast of the scar and edge of where I knew I had to go. She was waiting there, I thought to myself as I nodded to the captain, disembarking the vessel.
(So, I know it’s been a hot minute; I was just waiting for RP partners to line up in order to ensure people were game to play out the next few sections. I’ve had this written as a draft for two weeks and it was killing me not to post anything for that length of time until everything played out. Especially when I was snowed in for a week at home with nothing better to do than to write and read and play; so I appreciate the love I received on the last section!
As always check out @heartoftheravenwra for those Monday Night Mixers, they just released the Spring menu, and it looks delicious!
Other mentions go to @hinahinagray; since Taoln was such a good sport when Silas may have gone manic in thinking he was being spied on. Fun times. Hope the tome serves the daughter well.
Lastly, if you wish to get involved as someone to help or hinder Silas on his journey, feel free to reach out to me - I can give you my discord via a DM, totally up to talk about anything and everything <3)

The Original 718 Sewer
Watch video on YouTube here: The Original 718 Sewer HIGH-PRESSURE HYDRO JETTING; PLUMBING IN QUEENS, BROOKLYN, LONG ISLAND, STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK The Original 718 Sewer & Drain Cleaners of New York employ high-pressure hydro jetting as a way to clean clogged or slow sewage lines. Water is propelled at high pressure into the sewage lines to remove blockages, debris, and build up. Hydro jetting systems vary in the amount psi that's used -- depending upon the situation. Your Plumber in Queens may perform a video inspection prior to hydro jetting to determine the location and extent of the problem. Snaking may be used first to tear through any obstructions. REGULARITY IS THE KEY hydro-jettingCertain commercial establishments such as restaurants often require periodic hydro jetting to remove grease, sludge, debris, and mineral deposits that build up in the lines. Clogs or slow moving lines can cause downtime to your business which may result in loss of revenue. Some businesses benefit from one or two cleanings per year, while others require a quarterly basis to keep their lines moving problem free. Homeowners/residential customers are often prescribed hydro jetting to flush out tree roots, sand, hair, silt and other residues that cake up the walls of their pipes. Hydro jetting is an environmentally safe, chemical free, and economical way to keep those pipes clean and improve those old plumbing lines. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Keeping those pipes clean means fewer emergency and maintenance calls down the road, and more savings. Exterminators
What do commercial exterminators use to kill ants? Ants leave a scented trail that other ants follow. Sweeping or mopping isn’t enough to eliminate the scent. Killing the ants passing by will not eliminate the problem from its roots. The main source of the colonies is the queen. In order to find the nest and the queen a trail of ants must be followed. It is important to identify the ants taking food crumbs and following them to find the nest. Once the nest has been found, be careful not to disturb the worker ants taking the food to the nest. Sugar ants love a dirty sink and the water you leave them to help wash down the leftovers. Make sure to rinse out any dishes you're going to leave in the sink overnight. And when you do clean the dishes, make sure you rinse and wipe down the entire sink to make certain you haven't left residual sweets, food, or moisture behind. If you're really picky about cleaning, you might even want to try pouring a little bleach down the drain to make sure the smell of rotting food doesn't attract more ants to your kitchen. Dish drains should also be emptied and wiped down before the end of the day. Little black ants have also garnered the name sugar ant, though their real name is, well, Little Black Ants. Not a lot is known about Little Black Ants, except that they eat just about anything (including other insects) and they really like rotting wood and dark spaces. Getting rid of little black ants, however, despite how little is known about them from a biological perspective, is as easy as getting rid of sugar ants. Sweet baits can be used to control little black ants indoors, and protein baits can be used to control little black ants outdoors. Look in attics, bathrooms, and exterior walls. When you find the nest, spray it with an insecticide labeled for indoor use. Trim back bushes, shrubs, and trees that brush against your siding or roof. These provide a bridge for ants to reach your home. Exterminators
