Can I be slightly critical (and nit-picky) of Prehistoric Planet for a sec. I really don't like how relatively common of a colour scheme grey and red is in a lot of the show's creature designs. Idk it feels very 'We still have to make this animal look cool' if you get what I mean. And it doesn't look very good or terribly realistic in my opinion
#ESPECIALLY that Therizinosaurus it looks. uh. rough#not just the colouration the way they made its plumage look is not very flattering#it looks bad#good thing the one scene that was focused on therizinosaurus took place at night#that barbaridactylus is also! uhm!#they just gave it the sparsest coarsest (hyperbole) covering of pycnofibers/feathers know to man and slapped some red on it#I'm fine with red colouring obviously I am just! make it look good! make it look more rufous maybe! idk!#I want you to know that I am totally aware I am looking a gift horse in the mouth rn. I just want to complain a little

It's actually really adorable that my birdtrack app switches up whether the little icon depicting the bird species is male or female.
#birdtrack=an app where you enter your bird sightings#not sure if it's international or not#i truly love this- there are a few limits e.g. it doesn't do it for the duck species where the females are just brown and male v colourful#but house sparrow where female is brown and male is brown with patterns it does#and bullfinch where the pattern is the same but the female is soft fawn and the male is bright pink- both equally bullfinch#so this isn't just for the rare 'female is brighter' species like phalarope and dotterel#i like it it makes you think 'oh yeah both these plumages are equally that species'#of course it's still standard to use only adult plumages which i feel makes sense

Which corvid are you?
jay
jays are symbolic of intelligence, trickery, and aggression. this is mainly due to their high intelligence and assertive nature. they possess a strong territorial behavior and never get along with other species. they have the gift of mimicry and can easily imitate the calls of other birds, particularly hawks, to trick other birds into fleeing. they've even been known to mimic domestic cats. jays are fierce protectors of their territory. if you’re planning on messing with these birds, be prepared to be besieged by them. jays are also notorious for stealing shiny objects from other birds. despite their unmistakable, colorful plumage, these beautiful members of the crow family are more often heard than seen. their welsh name, ysgrech y coed, means 'shrieker of the woods.' there are up to 45 species of jays, and they can be blue, brown, purple, rust, peach, yellow, green, white, and black in color.

Everyone is so impressed by bald eagles taking several years to develop their mature colouration, but nobody ever mentions that gulls do, too! When you see a gull with adult plumage in the Walmart parking lot, that thing is at least 4 years old. It has years of wisdom.

DPXDC prompt. Dead on main. Courtship Behaviour In Birds Deads. Zombie Robin is still a bird. Right?
or What are the courtship rituals of the inhabitants of the Infinite Worlds?
Bright plumage and flamboyant displays of colourful feathers will show how strong and healthy a bird is.
Dick: Hey, Little Wing, long time no see.
Jason: Shut up, Dick. No time to explain. Give me your discowing suit immediately. And glitter. I need glitter…Where did you hide it? I know you have it for a new prank.
Damian: Todd, you’re acting weird.
Dick: Maybe another person in the family has good taste too! Finally.
Damian: I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.
Jason*on the verge of tears*: No..That’s not good. Dickhead, the neckline’s not deep enough, right?
Dick: You look great! But a little eyeliner will make you dazzling. Let me help you.
When a partner has been found, the male brings his mate tasty bits of food.
Courtship feeding can provide a valuable source of nutrients and robins are a great species too watch for observing this behaviour.
Sam: Someone was in our house.
Danny: As long as that someone can cook, I don’t mind.
Sam: It’s Gotham! The food could be poisoned, idiots!
Danny *with his mouth full*: Well, not the worst way to die.
Tucker: Damn, this meat is worth it.
~~~~~
Jason: So? He likes it?
Tim: First, rinse off your makeup and change into your uniform, unless you want your chosen one to get away from you the first time he sees your face! Oh man, who am I kidding? First of all, I have big questions about your taste in men. He didn’t even check his food for drugs or…
Robins often nest in unusual places such as old teapots, kettles, pans and inside sheds and garages.
Batman: Actually, this is my parking spot.
Danny who dragged all the spare blankets from Manor into Batcave: Not anymore. I promised to protect Jay’s bike from his brothers' pranks until he got back from patrol. I will. And then we'll lie and cuddle right here and you won't stop us.
Bird #24 - the diederik cuckoo (LC)
Adult female plumage.
Also known as the didric or dideric cuckoo; named after the male's loud territorial call that consists of a few long repeated 'dee's followed by a quick 'derik'. This cuckoo lives throughout sub-Saharan Africa, but also further north in the Arabian peninsula. Females and juveniles have this shiny coppery colour, but males are more of a glossy forest green with some blue and copper hints.
#cuculiformes#cuculidae#bird of the day#bird art#birds#bird#digital illustration#cuckoo#theyre surprisingly similar to the shining cuckoos that we have here in NZ#but less green#ig I thought that shining cuckoos looked pretty unique
Elder Scrolls: Portrait of an Argonian Swordsman.
—Saxhleel warrior had plumage of aquamarine effulgence that visually bled into face tattooing of similarly lurid colour. But it was the longsword of tarnished metal that held my attention for it was a weapon of unmistakably Daedric origin, and the eye-shaped jewel, embedded in its guard, was seemingly spying those around it. Suddenly I recalled where I had seen such blades and knew at once the sword was made from madness ore!
