Malakai Murphy brings 'Hollywood' to Colorado: 'I bring that dog'
Gold teeth and curly hair. That’s what earned Malakai Murphy the nickname “Hollywood.” “That’s just what people call me,” Murphy said with a laugh. “It started with the older coaches and all the old football players, that’s what they called me: Hollywood. “They see me with the golds, the curly hair, I have all the […]

Last Saturday's championship game between Oregon and Washington marked the unofficial end of one of the sport's longtime power conferences.
Ten of the 12 member schools are set to join a different conference in 2024, effectively dissolving the Pac 12, a conference that has existed since 1915.

Now it's just the Pac-2 with only Oregon State and Washington State left who have announced a six-game scheduing agreement with the Mountain West. What happens after next season is uncertain.

Even though the Kansas Jayhawks began the season slogging through a five game losing streak, and still have a -.500 record in the Big 12, their last three games have morphed this season into something they might actually remember with pride. It’s not just that they derailed BYU’s undefeated streak last week—it’s how they did it, in a way that felt absurd, unhinged, and entirely emblematic of a team determined to prove that chaos can be a strategy.
youtube
They also took down the Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes, a team buoyed by a media frenzy and the almost mythic talents of Travis Hunter, a two-way phenom, and Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s quarterback son whose precision and poise have made them both strong contenders for both the Heisman and the No. 1 draft pick. It wasn’t just a win; it was the kind of statement game that flipped the script on what anyone thought the Jayhawks were capable of this season.
youtube
The Jayhawks, once hyped as potential Big 12 contenders before the season began, have settled into their new identity as a spoiler team with almost defiant glee. Their wins against conference heavyweights have thrown the Big 12 standings into a chaotic four-way tie, leaving teams like BYU and Colorado scrambling to salvage their postseason dreams. Now, BYU and Colorado are stuck in the indignity of rooting for underdogs—Kansas State and Arizona Wildcats—to pull off upsets next week. If that doesn’t happen, Iowa State and Arizona State will be the ones securing their spots in the Big 12 title game, leaving BYU and Colorado to grapple with the sharp letdown of a season that, despite all its fireworks, would end on a distinctly bitter note.

Such a great 2nd half. Colorado is a way better team then they were last week. To think they’re missing Hunter and Shilo. Can’t forget about Millers first game appearance. Great football 🏈

12/30/2022 CFB Transfer Portal Update #3
As promised, I am going to pick 5 college football teams that I think have used the transfer portal as an advantage to help their teams as we take a diving look into the 2023-24 college football season.
Michigan Wolverines
Colorado Buffaloes
USC Trojans
Florida State Seminoles
Michigan State Spartans
The Michigan Wolverines have been among the most active teams in regard to the transfer portal as they initially saw a handful of players enter their names to leave Ann Arbor. At that, we have also seen many of the top names choose Michigan with little competitive interest in other schools. They brought in players who have multiple years of starting experience on the offensive line (Drake Nugent, LeDarius Henderson, Myles Hinton) as well 2 of the best transfer defensive linemen (George Rooks & Josaiah Stewart) along with a stout linebacker from Nebraska named Ernest Hausmann.
The Colorado Buffaloes might have the biggest roster makeover out of any team in the country since the hiring of their new head coach Deion Sanders. This far into the signing period he has already brought 6 of his former players with him from Jackson State to colorado including his son and soon-to-be starting QB for the Buffaloes along with the # 1 player in the portal Travis Hunter. Coach Prime has also done a good job adding players from other schools around the country such as Clemson, USF, and West Virginia.
The USC Trojans start up right where they left off last season, at the center of attention regarding players in the transfer portal. USC has added multiple players to fill positions of need and get better depth. They bolstered the defensive side of the ball with the additions of Christian-Roland Wallace, Kyon Barrs, Jamil Muhammad, and Mason Cobb. All 4 are proven starters and more importantly, sure-tacklers on a defense that had problems wrapping up and completing tackles. On the Offensive side of the ball, they added a top receiver from Arizona in Dorian Singer and a lineman from Florida named Michael Tarquin.
The Florida State Seminoles have had one of the biggest splashes by any program this recruiting cycle as they locked in commitments from top linemen on both sides of the ball in Jeremiah Byers and Braden Fiske as well as other big men from schools such as Miami and Colorado. My favorite player the Seminoles picked up is Tight end/H Back Jaheim Bell from South Carolina. Bell will play a big role for the FSU offense with the versatility to line up all over the field.
Michigan State has been actively adding big bodies to their team for the upcoming season. They have 3 new tight ends transferring from different schools in which they all garnered significant reps. They also added two runningbacks to their historically run-heavy offense. In my opinion, the biggest gets for the Spartans were along the defensive line where they added an interior lineman, an edge, and a guy who can play both. They will especially be tested when playing conference games next season in the blistering cold knowing they have to stop the run.
Of these 5 teams, the Michigan Wolverines and USC Trojans will most likely rely on their transfers the most while they look to hold their spots as college football bluebloods and stay in the hunt for a college football playoff berth in 2023-24.
