They're not even trying to argue how he's suppose to do all the things Elrond has done and continues to do, because they can't defend that the writers just couldn't find a place to insert him that wouldn't sideline Elrond and her bond, or diminish the impact of Sauron on her character development so that she figures out that she needs her friends more than ever.

A symbolic husband figure? What does that even mean?

The term itself feels like someone tried to put a nice, academic spin on something fundamentally nonsensical. A “symbolic husband” sounds like a character who just hovers around, sort of husband-like, but with none of the depth or actual connection.

By that logic, is Galadriel just collecting symbolic husbands like trading cards?

Yu-gi-oh who? Pokemon where?

I mean, who’s next in line?

If we’re being real here, Elrond’s bond with Galadriel has nothing to do with him filling in for Celeborn or being some “husband substitute.” Their relationship is built on shared experience, mutual respect, and the deep emotional understanding of two people who have seen so much. They support each other on an equal footing, which is worlds apart from Celeborn’s function as a “textual husband.” Elrond’s not hanging around because he fits some checklist of husbandly qualities that Celeborn’s absence requires—it’s because he’s a character with his own role, his own depth, and his own unique connection with Galadriel.

And let’s talk about that “textual husband” role while we’re here. Sure, Celeborn is her husband in the text. But on-screen, he’s practically a ghost. He’s brought up once, for maybe three seconds, and then? Poof. Celeborn’s not around in the Rings of Power at all, so the showrunners have essentially invited us to look at Galadriel and Elrond’s relationship without Celeborn’s presence or interference. It’s actually the absence of a “textual husband” that makes this connection between Elrond and Galadriel all the more powerful—and more relevant.

Right, so apparently, the real solution for Galadriel’s character arc isn’t personal growth, or her own agency, or even her facing down ancient evils—it’s… holding a candle for her ghost of a husband?

Because nothing says “empowered character journey” like sitting around and pining for a guy who might as well be on permanent vacation in the spirit realm, right?

That’s the fulfilling arc everyone’s rooting for? Really?

Let’s be real here: insisting that Galadriel’s character arc would somehow be “completed” by keeping her metaphorically shackled to Celeborn’s memory is hilariously misguided. The idea of her moving on isn’t some radical betrayal of their marriage; it’s just basic character development.

It’s only logical that she’d form new connections and draw strength from relationships with those who are actually present in her life, like, say, her incredibly loyal, supportive friend Elrond. But no—apparently a woman moving forward is scandalous.

Better for her to remain stoically faithful to the concept of a husband who hasn’t been around since the dawn of time, right?

Who hasn't supported her, or THEIR daughter for that matter, in any way shape or form?

If people genuinely think Galadriel’s character arc would be more “complete” with her endlessly waiting for Celeborn to maybe show up someday like he’s on some very delayed bus, then we need to rethink what “arc” means here. It doesn’t mean a static, ghostly dedication to a man who isn’t part of her life. It’s about her evolving, adapting, and living fully in the relationships and challenges that actually exist in her present.

And let’s not even get started on the double standard here.

How many male characters in fiction get to rebuild their lives or find new love after a tragedy, without anyone batting an eye?

But Galadriel moving forward? Nope, that’s apparently blasphemy.

It’s almost as if people are more invested in the “idea” of Celeborn than the actual reality of what Galadriel needs to grow as a character.

It’s like they’re reducing Celeborn to a plot device: some placeholder love interest meant to serve as Galadriel’s “reward” rather than a fully realized character with his own meaningful connection to her. By treating him as the endgame prize to “complete” her arc, they’re effectively sidelining the real emotional depth and substance of the relationships she’s built with characters like Elrond.

They claim to "love" the guy, but it's just because they want him to take Elrond's place.

Point blank period.

Let’s look at what Elrond’s presence actually brings to Galadriel’s story. His loyalty, unwavering support, and understanding of her inner struggles offer something genuine—something earned. He’s been by her side through thick and thin, and the writers have brilliantly illustrated that their bond is one of profound trust and shared purpose. He’s not there to “save” her or “complete” her. He’s there as her equal, a friend who helps her grow, understand herself, and confront her own darkness, not someone whose existence is merely to validate her choices or give her a stamp of “completion.”

Meanwhile, if Celeborn were simply dropped into the story now, how could he possibly contribute to Galadriel’s journey in any comparable way? He hasn’t been there for her battles, her losses, or the growth she’s experienced. Expecting him to swoop in and take over as the “rightful” romantic partner feels, frankly, like narrative whiplash. Not only would it diminish Galadriel’s genuine development with Elrond and her journey as a whole, but it would feel like a forced attempt to tie up loose ends with a neat bow rather than allow her to naturally evolve.

And really, this idea of using Celeborn as a “happy ending” undermines what the writers have been building with Galadriel.

Her arc isn’t about finding happiness in the arms of a distant, almost mythical husband figure.

I said what I said.

It’s about her strength, her resilience, and her ability to find support in the friends who are actually present in her life. If anything, forcing Celeborn in as a love interest at this point would ignore the rich foundation laid between her and Elrond and the emotional weight that connection holds. And it would turn Celeborn into nothing more than a token, sidelining the actual meaningful dynamics at play just for the sake of a “traditional” happy ending.

I’ll say this: let the woman live a little! Maybe it’s time to let go of the notion that her worth as a character depends on her loyalty to a ghost.

CBS Ghosts, of course, full hyperfixation brain, this is genuinely the only thing that actually makes me Feel Things anymore, as well as the server for it, I love all of my fandom friends for this show more than I can say and they've really enhanced my life and helped stop me from self-isolating to the extremes I used to because I get so desperate to talk about my blorbos with them that even when I get triggered over college or job stuff- things that usually make me withdraw completely from social groups because I know I'm not worthy of talking to people so much smarter and better than me- I can't help but claw myself out of it because I need them, haha. Full hearted affection for those guys and our goober show.

Getting art of my characters! Most of my free-spending money goes to commissioning artists to draw my silly little guys :) (A little bit more than I should be spending, tbh, but well, life is awful and the world is ending, I need art of my fursona!)

It getting warm again and being able to sit outside on the steps, have the windows open, seeing/hearing all the birds, etc...my house gets more natural light than my dark and depression previous apartment did which has been very helpful, even if I'm not at the point yet where I can become a living room person and still spend all my time in bed, which is sadly the darkest room in the house still. But it's something!

I've been slowly working on sorting/organizing a lot of my Buckets Of Things, getting rid of old art supplies that are dried up, organizing + checklisting my massive collection of Pokemon cards, setting aside all the little papers and stickers I've collected and getting them sorted out into different piles (I'm debating starting a junk journal since putting everything in my sketchbook feels a little hollow at the moment since I can't really draw anymore...) and it makes me happy to work on! i've been writing since the 6th/7th grade (so anytime since i was 11-13 years old) and roleplaying since the 9th grade (so i was 15-ish) meaning i've been writing and roleplaying for over a decade

i took french class in high school, but i'm only mildly good at speaking and writing it.

my favorite colors are cool colors, like blue, green and purple

my oldest stuffed animal (a floppy eared dog) was given to me by my god father before he moved away. i still talk to him sometimes

my english teacher who taught me in the 5th grade and when she moved up to 7th grade teaching (so i had her twice) read one of my old fanfics and critiqued me in a way that i still use to judge my writing to this day. it's because of her is why i love writing so much

i have a big collection of pokemon cards. i have a giant darkrai card on the front of my binder

pokemon platinum my beloved, but pokemon leaf green was my starter pokemon game (i went back to play HG/SS and ORAS when the remake came out and getting one of those emulator cards)

i was in jrotc (a military class), and took this test that would qualify you to be placed in one of the branches and scored high enough to be in the air force. i was recruited too, but the college i chose didn't have an ROTC program for me so i didn't join (because i wanted to skip the airman/airman first class ranks and move to senior airman for the easy life)

my first gaming console was the nintendo 64

one day i woke up in a cold sweat after a really intense dream with eren. ive never had a dream that realistic before lol it literally changed my life. i ended up not sleeping for the next two days doing nothing but reading and writing eren fanfiction hehe… that was in april of last year, and i still think about that dream to this day, i get some dreams with eren but nothing like the first one heuheeh

eren’s crush is painfully obvious. he’ll be all sweet and gentle with me but then be a complete asshole to someone asking a basic question. yet his crush is very subtle at the same time? for example, he’ll insist on sitting next to me or brush up against me but he’ll be very nonchalant about it. before we started dating this would stress me out so much xD

6. who confesses their feelings first?

its a stand off!!! neither one of us would admit to it, i think it would gradually develop into a relationship over time. but if anyone were to confess, i think i would imply it first and… just wait until eren pieces it together in his head. i’d tell him something like “you’d be a great boyfriend,” and then three days later he’d be like… “wait. do you like me???”

7. what are your star signs? are you two compatible?

i am a taurus, eren is an aries. though im not sure if we’re compatible bc multiple sources say yes and others say no lol… i will say for the sake of argument that we have a very… fiery relationship hehe

Aw, thanks! I've been feeling kind of down tonight, so this made me think of things that made me happy instead of wallowing further. :)

1) Mega Man

Yeah, anyone that knows me know that this would be at the top of my list. I've been into this series almost my whole life at this point, and I don't think that it'll be changing any time soon, even if I end up focusing on different aspects of it as time passes. But it helps keep me from getting burned out on it.

2) Fanfiction

Whether it's reading good and/or fun fanfiction from others, or writing it myself, I always find myself enjoying the worlds that are crafted from them. Again, this is something I've been doing my whole life, I'm pretty sure that I wrote my earliest actual fanfic at age 9, and I've been writing in general since I was younger.

3) Friends & Family

Specifically, the ones that stuck by me despite how things were going (unfortunately my current mindset makes me have to specify that right now). I have a lot of great people that I can talk to about the things that interest us (like Fire Emblem and more with you!), and I always hope to keep it that way.

4) Trading Cards

This might sound a little odd to someone that hasn't learned about this, but I collect Eevee cards (Pokemon) and just any cards that seem cool, and I have since I was a kid. I always feel a bit of a high when I get my hands on an Eevee card that I didn't have before, no matter how cheap it is. XD

5) Red Velvet

If this is a dessert option, I go for this, no questions asked. Absolutely top-notch. Looks gorgeous too, which is a bonus.

Technically I'm fandomless. Kaiden used to be an Inuyasha OC before I rebranded her because I started thinking of her own story and world. But I guess I'm also partially apart of the MHA fandom and the Demon Slayer fandom

7. What drew you to writing your current character(s)?

I think I'm so drawn to Kaiden because I really enjoy her character redesign and just her personality and story I've come up with. She's just a vibe for me a lot of the time. A very chill and easy character to sit down and write when I'm feeling inspired.

8. Have you ever met anyone outside of RP?

Unfortunately no...all of my mutuals are spread out BUT I would love to get the chance to meet them someday! You guys are always so sweet and kind. :)

I have dealt with actual child pornography and pedophiles in a previous work life. Not tumblr's idea of such, but actual, for fucking real, child pornography and pedophiles. my kid - he drives me nuts but the same time I love him to death. I think that's just how it is.

my cats (I have three of these little devils) - same thing like with my kid. Sometimes I think I live in a zoo.

nice food - but I don't like to cook, that's a problem.

Gaming - even if that lately hardly existent unfortunately thanks to tumblr, woman must set priorities.

1. are you named after anyone?: I was named after the village I was born in. It’s a common naming scheme for Chinese orphans in that area. 

2. when was the last time you cried?: i dont remember, probably a year ago 

3. do you have kids?: I have a cat named Garlic

4. do you use sarcasm a lot?: yes, only with friends though

5. what sports do you play/have played?: i did a lot of sports for a short amount of time: soccer, baseball, gymnastics, swimming, track, rowing. I did go to karate for like 8 years though. 

6. what’s the first thing you notice about people?: I also don’t look at people, i notice hair though, and height

7. scary movies or happy endings?: are these mutually exclusive? I think Cars is peak cinematic media

8. any special talents?: I can identify most nursery trees and shrubs by name. I can list out the d&d weapons and armor chart. 

9. where were you born?: Southeast China

10. what are your hobbies?: TTRPGs, gaming, and drawing have been my most consistent ones but I’ve dipped toes into many: reading, writing, sewing, furniture making, 3d printing, baking, pokemon cards, collecting random things. I’ve been reading a lot lately though.   

11. do you have any pets?: My scrunggles, Garlic.

12. how tall are you?: 5′5″

13. favorite subject in school?: Calculus 1, it was the perfect amount of calculus  

14. your dream job?: conservatory greenhouse employee, I’m happy where I am but would drop everything to work at a conservatory again.
