My District 13 au

Coryo and Lucy Gray fled in this AU and ended up in district 13. Despite being safe and Coryo rose to power eventually in 13, they both hated it there. The place is no way to live a life. They made improvements but a pox outbreak happened and their son nearly dying had her husband later fully joined 13 to the rebellion. Coryo then was "elected" as President of Panem (she knows) and they moved to the Capitol and her last two children were born and grew up in the Capitol. Having raised children in district 13 where everything is surveillanced and under tight control especially before Coryo's presidency, they raised their children to trust family first and never lie to them ("lies can get you killed").

Lucy Gray is not exactly strict to her children aside from the "no lie" rule so her children gets a way with almost everything. Their shenanigans(especially Orpheus Sage's and Thalia Rose's) will never get them disowned or taken out of the will by Coryo because there will be hell to pay if he does.

People usually go to Lucy Gray first when they want her husband to approve something. They catch on that if they get Lucy Gray on their side, Coryo is more likely to accept their request or proposals.

In district 13, of course she'll find ways and loop holes to laws and rules to get what she wants (mostly to sing and for pretty things). She'd sew her clothes, make flowers out of the leftover pieces of cloth, scraps and other items she can turn to trinkets. She'd style her dull jump suit, anything really to give life to that man hole of a district

In district 13 she goes by Melanie Ebony Thorne

Ok so I had an idea for a meme/gif, but it's pretty cursed so I'm gonna put it into a read more even though nobody with gif making skills will probably see this.

the way cashmere was like nice and chill and friendly with katniss and then her and gloss and katniss trained together in this low-key companionable way and katniss reflected on "oh i killed their kids last year and they might have even known them" and it was actually all pretty sweet

and then cashmere turns that around at the interviews and is like *scoffs* "you look SO stupid in that dress. it's ridiculous" and then sashayed away

you know, it’s funny, when people find out i’m a teacher they always say “i don’t know how you deal with all those kids” like they’re what makes my job hard when really they’re the best part. yes some days they make the job harder bc they’re kids but man….

there’s this kid that’s never even been my student but i have a sort of casual friendship with bc one day when he was in 3rd grade, i happened to walk past where his classroom was when he was coming back from lunch, and he just tossed his lunch bag up in the air not really caring where it landed, and it fell square in his own unzipped backpack. and i looked at him, and he looked at me, and we both lost it at this moment of “epicness.” and he still talks to me when i have yard duty on the playground and he tells me about how he was named after a famous rapper. and today i found out he’s moving soon and it struck me that i’ll never get to be his teacher, and it just made me so sad

those relationships are everything enjoyable about the job and i’m going to miss that the most
