Since it's appropriate for the occasion, my last (major) chost from Cohost:

I guess my real final post (not including my next rechost, which I'm not counting) can only really be about one thing, huh? If you know me, you already know what I'm about to talk about. (I've already said a lot of this before but I think it deserves to be said again, here, now, in these final hours.) If it weren't for Cohost, I wouldn't have sorXa, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Sure, she'd technically still exist as "that one OC who started as a Halloween costume in elementary school, then a Star Wars-inspired Lego OC in intermediate school, then a grittier supersoldier Lego OC in middle school", but like... I wouldn't be doing things with her now, and she sure as hell wouldn't be my dearly belovèd sorXa the way she is now. She's undeniably a product of Cohost - I wouldn't have gotten back into sci-fi if not for this site, and without that I probably would never have revived her in the first place. Her finalized color scheme echoing Cohost's may only have been a happy accident, but seeing her now will always remind me of where she was (re)born. And without sorXa, I wouldn't have Jos, Alex, Selena, or Violet. I wouldn't have the Machine at Arms setting. I wouldn't be writing a TTRPG in that setting. And honestly... ... I might not even be here if not for her. There's definitely been at least one or two occasions where I was only able to keep going because I knew that if I disappeared, sorXa would go with me. And by extension, because I wouldn't have sorXa if I didn't have Cohost, I wouldn't be here if not for Cohost. Thank you, everyone, for inspiring me to revive an old OC and trans her gender. Thank you, everyone, for loving her even a fraction of as much as I have during my time sharing her with you on here. Thank you, everyone, for helping me keep going, even when it was agonizing to do so. Thank you, Cohost. I love you. Goodnight, and may we meet again, someday, somewhere.

(September 2024) So long, and thanks for all the Eggbugs

Note: this post was originally made for the closure of Cohost, but I figured I might as well mirror it here with the art from my backlog.

(Like I said before, I'm not leaving just yet, but I figured I should get up a proper farewell post while most people are still here. This site still has a little life in it yet, but you can find where else I'll be in this chost, and when in doubt you can check my Carrd for updates even after Cohost goes read-only.) --- This site has meant a lot to me and done a lot for me in the relatively short time I've been here. For starters, I've met some truly wonderful folks (even if I didn't talk to them much due to my shyness and such; if I still haven't reached out to you with a Discord friend request and you want to keep in touch, please feel free to add me!), the response to my selfies has given me a lot more confidence in my appearance, people have been incredibly kind and encouraging to me in general, it got me to get back into streaming (even in a limited capacity), I've learned a lot about the world and become a much more accepting person as a result, I've even done severals a few times, and most importantly of all: this site was the reason I revived sorXa back in late January of 2023, which set in motion a lot of great things for me creatively. I've been drawing more than I have in many years, I have a (small) stable of truly original characters, I finally started working on my own TTRPG in that setting, and I finally have ideas for the video game I've wanted to make for some years now (which I haven't actually started on yet, but sorXa & co. have given me more motivation than ever to properly brainstorm for it since I need some way to tell their story). And that's to say nothing of how much she means to me as a character on her own! I made her original iteration back in 2005 when I was a mere 8 years old, which is a long-ass time ago. And while she's changed a lot since then, so have I! In a way she's grown up with me, and in a way she even transitioned with me. I don't think another character will ever mean as much to me as she does, and I have Cohost to thank for the inspiration to bring her back. I know the site wasn't perfect, but it really felt like home to me in a way I haven't felt in a damn long time, if ever. I don't know if anything will really be able to replace it for me. It certainly doesn't seem like any of the current options are up to the task, at least, but maybe someday, somewhere, someone will re-attempt what staff tried to do here with Cohost. And if they do, you'll almost certainly find me there with the handle @AqueousAblution. Maybe that hypothetical future site will survive longer, maybe even thrive! I sure as hell hope so, at least. And I hope I'll see as many of you all as possible there, too! #Eggbug my belovèd #(did you know I'm the reason that tag has a grave accent?) #(I forget if I made the original "#Eggbug my beloved" tag but I know for a fact I made the accented version)
