Aizawa noticed how you were getting bummed out in the summer with all the hero work, studying, and his brats of classmates obsessing you head to toe pulling you in different directions or wanting attention from you, whenever you came back home with him you looked so exhausted and gloomy so he decided to declare a beach day for just the two of you!

Aizawa didn't like the beach as much as you did he prefers indoors especially in the wintertime when he can be wrapped comfortably in his blanket drinking hot coco cuddling with his cats and you sleeping peacefully in his arms watching another childish Christmas special on TV, but you Loved the beach you loved exploring seeing what kind of treasure you'll find in the sand, resting in the sun, and devouring snow cones! So a father and child bonding vacation will get you in the mood again and he knew exactly how to suprise you

You waved to Nezu as he drove off. Today was a tiring and you were extremely exhausted, your classmates kept bothering pulling you around in different directions just to get your attention or to spend time with them, there was even almost a war in the cafeteria because a group in class 1b invited you to sit with them, training your favorite subject was cut short cause your class again got too brutal trying to show off their fighting skills to eachother and that turned brutal real quick

you just wanted to go in your room, turn off your phone preventing your classmates spam texting you and cuddle with your cats to forget the day all altogether You slowly opened the door to a beach bag on the couch "...wtf" You awkwardly approached the bag grabbing it and looking inside to see a bunch of beach items like sunscreen, a swimsuit and it was in your exact size? "Dad..?" You looked around to an empty, silent living room. You walked toward the kitchen cautiously as you saw another beach bag, and it was a large water gun. Seriously!? What's even going on? You were about to head back when you heard a loud BANG, which sounded like.. party poppers. You turned to see your father holding

"Suprise..! We're going on vacation." Your dad stood there grinning at your surprised and baffled expression. "When?" "Tomorrow, this weekend's my day off so why not they even have a beach~" he shrugged there was a place for a moment as your face slowly lit up causing Shouta to chuckle already knowing what was about to happen next "YAYAYAYAYAYAYA THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU" you squealed squeezing the poor man's lungs out with your death hug "your welcome sweetie" he choked out trying to fight for his life surviving the hug

"Did you pack your clothes?" "Yep! I packed EXTRA early," You replied while coming downstairs and rolling down the suitcase while your father checked everything else. "Do we have the giant medkit" Aizawa looked around checking every luggage "dadd we dont we don't need that big ass kit it's just a 2-day vacation" you groaned as your father shot a glare at you " "Language and of course we need it just because we're on vacation doesn't mean anything villians will still pop out a nowhere" you mentally rolled your eyes obviously not wanting to hear all that "can we go nowww we got everything ready our neighbors will watch the cats, the 23 security cameras are all on and activated lets gooo" you whined carrying both you and your dads luggage towards the car as your dad sighed "what am I ever gonna do with you"

"We're here," your dad said softly, waking you up from your nap. You blinked a couple of times, trying to shake off the slumber. "Look at the view" he pointed you looked to where he was pointing and he wasn't lying the sunset of the beach was beautiful the mix of yellow pink and orange was plastered across the sky, you almost thought you were in a painting "it's getting late let's check into our hotel and get some rest we'll go to the beach tomorrow morning" you lazily nodded feeling sleepy again as Shouta started grabbing all the luggage and placing it into those suitcase holder with the wheels (if ykyk) and saw you passed out already in the car

he sighed annoyed but not wanting to wake you up so he picked you up and placed you on his shoulder while rolling the luggage holder toward your room ignoring the stares, whispering, and fangirls gossiping, falling head over heels for the muscular man carrying his child towards the hotel room once he made it into the hotel room, he gently place you down 1st tucking you in for the night without forgetting to give you an soft kiss on your forehead then changed into his comfortable clothing there was 2 beds but he decided he sleep on your bed as well not wanting you to fall off of course totally not because he knows youll feel safe in his arms (before yall say something this us strictly platonic) and he so to drifted off to sleep

Aizawa was slowly awoken by you staring and smiling down at him he got started and pushed you off of him "Ow" "never do that again he grumbled tiredly looking over to see the clock being 8 AM then looking at you "Can we go to the beach now" "5 more mins sweetie I'm fucking tired-" "I will kick you repeatedly until you fall off the bed then bite you on your leg like a chicken bone if you fall back to sleep" he groaned again glaring at you while you smiled mischievously at him

Time skip again

You couldn't contain your excitement viewing the beach while Aizawa was carrying the beach stuff; you were wearing your (fav color) swimsuit with some goggles and a snorkel while your father had a black Hawaiian shirt and yellow swimming trunks with sunglasses. "I found a spot!" You quickly ran over, claiming the spot. Your father followed you as he placed the beach stuff down; you were about to dash toward the water until an arm yanked you back.

"You need your sunscreen, brat," you pouted, ruining your chance. "I don't need it!" He glared, grabbed the sunscreen, squeezed the bottle to squirt some out, and slapped it onto your face, rubbing it. "Ack! Let go of me!" You try struggling off your grip "You wanna act like a little brat You gonna be treated as one" As he kept assaulting your face with the sunscreen you then managed to push him up and snatch the bottle rubbing the cream over your body while he stared sternly at you "see now wasn't that hard?" "Fuck you" "y/n?" A familiar voice called out to you

There was the class all in their bathing suits staring directly at you. "y/nnnnn!!!!" Hakagure and Mina ran over to you and tackled you with a hug just processing what kind of bad writing fiction was this to make this even possible (hey! >:() "y/n! I see you also here as well," Iida stated while waving his arms around. "Yeah, I'm on vacation for a whole weekend here How are you here?" "We plan to have a beach party here. We were about to invite you, but we heard from you all day and yesterday evening!" Denki whined, leaning on your shoulder and earning a bunch of glares at him. Before you could respond, Kirishima grabbed your arm and dragged you towards them. "C'mon, let's go have fun! We got a bunch of plans for this party it's gonna be fun!"

you signed looking back at your father which he shrugged shooing you off to have fun while you shrugged to yourself and ran along with them

Aizawa, on the other hand, was pissed there was no way that they could go to this specific beach hotel and plan a beach party there. Did they track him and you down? Did one of them spy on you or place some kind of recording device in his or your phone? Thoughts were running through his head he was gonna find the bottom of this and once he did oh his class was gonna be in big trouble

Meanwhile

"Let's play volleyball ball!" Mina shouted, tossing up the ball. Since there are 21 of us, we should be in teams of 3! Let's make this a tournament! The last team wins! Everyone was interested and decided to get into teams

"Let the volleyball tournament begin!" Mina cheered, "For y/ns love..." They all thought determined to win this match to gain your affection, teams 2 and 9 were up 1st it was a close battle between the 2 teams with Ochako trying not to float the ball up and Sato trying to keep up with Iida's speed and Midoriya calculating a smooth hit murmuring to himself to try and find a way to win the game when the ball was heading towards him making him missed the ball causing it to hit the ground team 9 won while iida scolded Midoriya as he apology repeatedly

next was teams 4 and 8 and oh boy it was messy Bakugo demanded his idiot friends play better and pressured them while team 1 was knocking it out of the park until Kirishima managed to get a good swing tsuyu hit the ball with her tongue As it headed towards Denki but rather hit his head pretty hard to the point he went into his dumb mode "y-yey!!!!" The electric boy pulled out his thumbs as Bakugo was extremely pissed off grabbing the blonde by the back of his shirt and dragging him off the court in defeat

7 and 5 were up and it was actually pretty hard you tried to make Ojiro hit harder as you tried hitting it the opposite way but he managed to go to that spot Aoyama and Mina were battling it out well it was most Aoyama trying to get revenge on Mina while was just having fun oblivious to the shiny boy's intentions but you somehow won huh

Then teams started battling off winning team 9 loss to 8 with toodrokis super move 1 won your team by an intense battle and now it was all up to your team and 8 the final showdown

After a long, extreme battle between you and team 8, you...lost due to your slipping and fucking up team 8 won the match! Shoto then came up to you and pulled out his hand. "Good game.." he said, forming a small blush on his cheek. You chuckled and grabbed his hand as well. "You too, shoji and Tokoyami killed it out there!" "You too, I never knew you were good at volleyball, y/n san!" Dark Shadow chimed as Dark Shadow nodded in agreement "he's right you also did amazing as well y/n you should be in our team next time"

You smiled, oblivious to more glares the blackbird was earning. "Yeah, in return, teach me those moves!" Thats when you were suddenly dragged by Bakugo going to his squad "We're playing water gun fight you in?" He grumbled. You smiled mischievously as you grabbed your large meta water gun behind your back. "It's on..."

The others watched in jealousy as you and the bakusquad where spraying each other with waterguns untill bakugo slipped and fell into the ground you, kirishima, denki, Mina, and sero surrounded him and started spraying him at once then running away when he started to use his explosions the 5 of you started laughing hysterically when someone tapped your shoulder you looked over to see momo, tsuyu and jirou "me and jirou are heading to the snack shack wanna come?" Tsuyu offered "Oh I didn't bring my mone-" "I'll pay!" Momo said "oh no momo you don't have to-" "no no I insist really!" Momo said with smiled so genuine how could u even say no?

You signed, "Fine, but don't make me forget to pay you back!" Momo was gonna make you forget you didn't need to own her anything. Honestly, your presence was the payment! She just wants to spoil her little jewel! You then got your food and sat on the bench watching the sunset "Man the sunset is so pretty" You were mesmerized by the warm colors in the sky while the 3 girls were mesmerized by your face and how your eyes lit up seemed to relax when seeing the sunset tsuyu was just in awe while jirou was flustered Upon seeing your everything honestly

"Hey, you stole y/n away. We were planning to make sand castles!" Their precious moment was ruined when Koda started walling towards them behind them were Sato and Tokoyami "No we were just gonna get some food and rest" "let's not lie now you know you wanted to get some alone time with y/n" Tokoyami stated glaring at the girls " actually you're all wrong cause ma cheer is coming with me!" Aoyama started grabbing you and dragging you until he bumped into someone and that someone was Midoriya and his crew

"Where the heck do you think you're going with MY y/n?" Izuku stated as Aoyama hid you behind him as they both started arguing everyone else joined in and started a huge yelling match between each other "ok... time for me to go now" You started to walk off trying to find your father to tell him what's going on but you then bumped into someone again seriously how clumsy can you be and where are these people coming from? You looked up to coincidentally see your father just staring at his own students fighting and screaming at each other

"Uh Dad ur here so uh this happened" You tried telling him what had happened but he just kept staring and glaring at his students "Don't worry it's already taken care of" You paused for a moment confused by his statement "Take cared of-?" then a sudden announcement came on coming from outside the hotel

"The beach is now close! Please pack your things and leave or go back intothe hotel habe a lovely evening!"

You heard groaning from your classmates defeated that they couldn't spend time with you anymore they all waved goodbye at you and left in defeat grumbling under their breaths and glaring at each other and at Aizawa who was smirking menacingly at them mockingly waving at them he can finally spend time with you now with no distractions just his vacation with you and only you

"Hey kid, wanna go to this cool restaurant I found while driving?" Your father offered, "Can we order it? I wanna eat in the hotel and watch some movies your father chuckled agreeing that it was a good way to end the day!

In this oneshot, the story/events of Otona Pretty Cure never happened

One of the worst parts about growing up is that you’re not really able to do some things anymore. Things like playing on playgrounds, playing with toys or having slumber parties at your friend’s houses aren’t as fun or socially acceptable. Those are things that Nozomi reminisces about occasionally. But what she reminisces about the most is her time being a Pretty Cure.

Those two years may have been a long time ago, but they were truly the highlight of her life. She wouldn’t be the person she is today if it weren’t for them. She often wishes she could experience them once more.

But she’s never wished that more than she was now.

Clouds of dust enveloped the scene of destruction in front of her. Rubble flew in all directions, causing Nozomi to run into a nearby alley for safety. It was a smart move, as right when she did, a large chunk of concrete crashed into her previous spot. The culprit of this incident was a monster in the form of a traffic cone. It very much resembled the Kowaina and Hoshina she used to battle in her early teenage years.

Nozomi had no clue what to do. She knew that this was a job for the Pretty Cure, but she wasn’t one anymore. She hasn’t been in over twelve years! Her eyes darted around, desperately looking for a pink butterfly to come and allow her to transform. But there was none.

Right as her heart sank in despair, a figure swooped past her. Hoping that it was what she was looking for, she exited the alley, following its direction. However, she quickly realized it was an idiotic choice, considering there was still rubble flying everywhere. A particularly large piece came falling towards her, making her raise her arms over her head as a weak defense mechanism.

Just as she prepared herself for the blow, a crash and a grunt was heard from in front of her.

“Are you alright ma’am?” A boy’s voice called out. Nozomi opened her eyes, and froze.

In front of her was you; a young boy. But it wasn’t you alone that shocked her, it was what you were wearing. It looked very similar to what she wore as a Pretty Cure all those years ago. Also, the crumbled bits on the ground implied that you had crushed the large piece of rubble that nearly crashed into her. No normal person has that strength.

“You’re a… Pretty Cure?” Nozomi asked without thinking.

You gasped in surprise, revealing to her that she was correct. You opened your mouth to speak, but you were interrupted by a call.

“Cure Dream!”

Cure Dream.

Nozomi gasped at the mention of her former Pretty Cure name. The one she hadn’t heard in years. But judging by the way you responded by turning in the voice’s direction, it was now your name.

Before she could ask any further questions, you placed your hands on her shoulders. “Please, you have to get out of here!”

Nozomi didn’t say anything, but nodded. She then bolted back to her previous hiding spot. Though, she peeked from behind the brick wall, just to see what you were going to do.

You landed a hard kick to the monster, making it tumble to the ground. It didn’t even get a chance to get up, as you kicked it again.

“Dream, now!” The voice called out again. Nozomi could see who it was this time, though. It was a small fairy, standing on a nearby bench. It resembled a flying squirrel, and had tan fur. She assumed they were from the Palmier Kingdom.

“Alright!” You said, then began powering up.

Nozomi’s mouth hung open in shock, as she remembered the exact movements you were doing. It was her attack.

“Pretty Cure! Shooting Star!” You called out. The attack hit the monster square in the face. Not a second later, it disappeared, only leaving a normal traffic cone behind.

You both watched as your surroundings changed back to normal. It was as if no destruction had happened at all.

“You did it Dream!” The small fairy cheered. Though you ignored them, instead, looking around. “What’s wrong?” They asked.

“Someone knew I was a Pretty Cure.” You said, still looking.

“What? But no one knows what the Pretty Cure are!”

“I do.” Nozomi called out, emerging from her hiding spot. You and the fairy turned to her, shock and confusion written on your faces.

“My name is Nozomi Yumehara.” She introduced herself. She walked up to you, kneeling down just a bit to meet your height. “And around twelve years ago, I was a Pretty Cure, just like you.”

You gasped, absolutely speechless. But it seemed that the fairy wasn’t. “Nozomi? No way! You’re the Cure Dream of the past!”

She chuckled. “Yes, I was.” She reached down, and pet the little creature’s head. “And what’s your name?”

“Cinnamon!” She responded. She got down on all fours, bowing to Nozomi. “It’s such an honor to meet you!” She tapped your foot, signaling for you to bow as well. You did, putting your hands to your sides, and leaning down.

“Oh please, you don’t have to do that!” She blushed a bit, and scratched the back of her neck bashfully. “I can’t believe there’s a new Pretty Cure! And you’re a boy too! I didn’t know there could be boy Cures. That’s amazing!”

“Heh, yeah. I guess all the past ones were girls.” You said. You then de-transformed, revealing your true self to Nozomi. “But anyway, I’m (full name).” You laughed, and stuck out your hand for her to shake, to which she happily did. But only for a few seconds, as she suddenly gasped, and stopped.

“Wait! If there’s a new Pretty Cure, that must mean that Palmier Kingdom’s in danger again! What’s going on?” She panicked.

“Oh, yes! There’s a new threat to the kingdom! That’s why King Coco and King Nuts sent me to find new Pretty Cures!” Cinnamon responded.

“Oh no! What’s the threat?”

“We’re not exactly sure. All we know is that the palace was attacked, and an ominous note was left! And after that, monsters began appearing here!”

“Yeah. I only became a Pretty Cure yesterday. It all happened so fast. And I don’t even know what to do to find the others…” You said, clearly a bit stressed.

Nozomi smiled gently, and placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. “Hey, it’ll be alright. Besides, I know a thing or two about being a Pretty Cure. So how about I help you out?”

“No way!” Cinnamon gasped. “(name), Nozomi wants to be your mentor! You cannot pass up this opportunity!”

“Really? You’ll teach me everything?” You asked.

“Of course! It’s my job as the old Cure Dream to help out the new one!” She said.

“Thank you so much Miss Yumehara!” You bowed yet again, this time much lower to show even more gratitude and respect.

Nozomi chuckled. “It’s no problem. Now come on, I know a building by a lake we can use as a sort of ‘headquarters’.” She said, and began leading you all to the mentioned destination.

Nozomi knew that she’d never be able to be a Pretty Cure ever again. The introduction of a new generation of Cures further proved that. However, she discovered that while she may not be able to transform and fight, she can still help out. And that’s just what she was going to do.

Moon - Donut

Path - Peanut Brittle

Bushes - Muffin Top

Within this world they’re are nine continents, each after a different type of dessert; Cake Continent, Cookie Continent, Biscuit Continent, Gelatin Continent, Pastry Continent, Ice Cream Continent, Pie Continent, Pudding Continent, and Candy Continent. Within these continents are cities, towns, and villages that are named after the smaller categories of treats within the big nine. Also each Continents is shaped after what they’re named. The Cake Continent is shaped like a three layer cake, the Cookie Continent is shaped like a chocolate chip cookie, the Biscuit Continent is shaped like a shortbread, the Gelatin Continent is a mix of island shaped like different jello, the Pastry Continent is shaped like a croissant, the Ice Cream Continent is shaped like a three scoop ice cream cone, the Pie Continent is shaped like a traditional pie, the Pudding Continent is shaped like purin, and the Candy Continent is shaped like a chocolate bar.

Our main setting is in Vanilla Valley, located in the Cake Continent. Vanilla Valley is the birthplace of DogDough and the new living place of the other Critters. The other Critters moved to Vanilla Valley but they have a different birth place.

- Hoppy MintScotch - Unknown but grow up in Puff Town

- Sticky Piggy - Blizzard City in the Ice Cream Continent

For the environment of each Continent; on Earthbread they’re aren’t seasons at all, however each continent environment is based off one of the seasons. Spring is the Cake, Candy, and Biscuit Continent, Summer is the Gelatin and Pastry Continent, Fall is the Cookie or Pie Continent, and winter is the Ice Cream or Pudding Continent.

Now why were these picked? Well I’ll explain:

For one the Pudding Continent is meant to be based on those places that don’t get very bad cold weather because it’s pudding, you can have it at any temperature so might as well make the Continent unpredictable. Ice Cream on the other hand? One word; cold as fuck. It’s not as cold near the tip of the cone, which is where Sticky lives, but the very top? Below -30 (which is where Crafty lives). Again the reason for the temperature difference is some ice cream treats will get warmer as they are eaten. The high in Sticky’s home is like 32 degrees and the low is -5.

Now as for the summer Continents they’re about the same in temperature, never getting below 70, but in terms of environment they are very different. The Gelatin Continent is 60% beaches, while the Pastry Continent is mostly rainforests on one side and beaches on the other. Also I already mentioned it but I’ll say it again the Gelatin Continent is made up of different islands. Gelatin is mostly jello-O or anything like that which I see as a summer treat. As for Pastries, most are a summer treat but most pastries are from Europe and they get a lot of tourists in summer. Plus Kickin likes surfing so why not make his home place a beach.

The Cookie and Pie Continent are meant to be the Fall Continents. Why? Pie is popular at Thanksgiving. As for the cookies, think about having coffee and what goes well with coffee? Cookies! Anyway in terms of look, both Continent would be the ones that do the most farming since fall is harvest season. However the Pie Continent grows fruit while the Cookie Continent grows spices and herbs. Also the large fields of spices and herbs on the Cookie Continent are the chocolate chips of the cookie shape that makes up their home.

I have no reason why I chose Cake, Candy, or Biscuit Continent for the Spring Continents, they were just the last ones left.

hiya! i work in/manage a greenhouse too (maybe half the size of yours i think?) i was wondering if you had any favorite basket or planter combos you made up this year!

i did a few combos i really loved- antique double salmon geranium with a fern and baby tears pilea

peachy keen verbena, double orange superbells, salmon sunpatiens, vista bubblegum petunia, and silver falls dichondra

really im just a sucker for everything in the peach/salmon/coral/pinks

Yeah!! It's hard to remember to take pictures but this year my favorites have been pinks-blue-yellow but also purples with silver.

In total I designed uhhhhh ~350 cone hanging baskets, ~450 planters of varying sizes, 140 big coco fiber baskets, and 50 big moss baskets. Most of those had 10 of each design. So??? Almost 1000 different designs.

So it is tough to choose a favorite lol or remember which was which.

I really like Salvia Icon Blue as a central thriller, then Petunia Miss Marvelous and Dekko Lavender Eye and Lobularia Stream Lavender as fillers, plus Dichondra.

Also I used Big Eeze Geraniums with Dekko petunias again for the big combos and that worked very nicely! Dekkos are a little smaller so resemble Callies but are more vigorous and less aphid-prone. A combo of those with trailing coleus fills in a huge basket well. Also Diamond frost as a filler. Lysimachia sunburst as a trailer.

Bridal Veil and swedish ivy as shade trailers! Spider plants as well! We have stock plants of all three and they grow super wonderfully. For smaller planters, wire vine, though I didn't use much this year.

And my classic and best selling mix is just. Dragonwing begonia, mixed seed impatiens, and ipomea or trailing coleus. I've found that most customers prioritize lots of colors and flowers over anything else in terms of planter design so impatiens mixes are a big seller even though they're pretty basic

Also, I went heavy on the double impatiens this year. I hate them so much they are so messy and dramatic once it gets hot in the greenhouse but they grow fast and fill in so nicely.

If I could get begonias to grow quickly enough, I'd use them, because I feel like they're the real mvp of summer baskets for longevity but unfortunately, I'm growing for looking good pre-Mother's Day. Anything but dragonwings just can't compete in a mixed basket in early spring.

The exhaust blows a cloud into the dark, the engine rumbling in wait as you toss your bag in the backseat with Birdy. She’s quiet, her eyes hooded as she can barely keep them open. She slumps against her own bag as Candy adds her to the heap on her other side.

You get in the driver’s side and fix the seat. Candy takes the passenger with a groggy grumble as she slides open the lid of the insulated cup. She gulps with a sigh and offers it wordlessly as you buckle up and check the mirrors. It’s going to be a long drive.

“Maybe we shouldn’t bother with all this business shit next time,” Candy yawns, “maybe something more… subtle.”

“Maybe,” you agree as you shift into drive, “Birdy, you doing alright back there?”

“Yeah,” her fluttery voice rises as she nestles against her duffel bag.

Silence overtakes the car as you set off. You steer slowly through the sleepy town, tension roiling in the tight space as you focus on the centerline of the road. The long drive isn’t the worst of it, it’s the snow that worries you most.

Candy chuckles and shifts in her seat. She shakes her head and takes another sip. You grip the wheel tight and peek over at her.

“What?”

“Oh, uh, just a stupid thought,” she rubs her cheek as he leans on the door, “reminds me of the girls’ trips I used to take back in the day. Wake up at the crack of dawn to drive up to some cottage or whatever.” She chortles again, “this one time, Lindsay, she took us to her hook-ups place and I guess he forgot to tell his wife he’d promised it to his sidepiece–”

You laugh and roll your eyes. You can’t judge. Before Bucky, you weren’t much different, dancing on tables and all. It really makes this all seem all the more surreal. How did you ever come to this?

“Had a boyfriend in college,” you start, talking as much to keep yourself awake as to calm your nerves, “fiance, actually… turns out, that was bullshit. He was already married with kids. He wasn’t even enrolled in the classes. He just lurked around to pick up girls.”

“Ewwww,” Candy exclaims, “oh, god, Coco bean, you really do attract the best types.”

“Don’t remind me.”

Birdy shuffles in the back and leans forward, “I only had one boyfriend before Steve,” she says, “but he was also my mom’s boyfriend.”

“What?” You nearly veer out as you turn your head sharply, “Birdy!”

“I… was young.”

“You’re still young,” Candy chides, “no judgment, baby girl, well, not with you. That man sounds nasty.”

“Oh, the nastiest. I don’t think there’s a single–”

You slam on the brakes as suddenly a cone of light shines across your path. The large truck rolls across the road and blocks the way. You swear and kick into reverse, making it only a foot before you stomp the brake again, a van appearing at your tail lights. Fuck.

“What the hell is this?” Your heart hammers in your chest, “fuck, fuck, fuck.”

“Is it them?” Birdy whines, “Steve?”

“Fuck me,” Candy pops open the glovebox and takes out a thick club, “these fuckers aren’t getting it easy.”

“Shit,” you hit the wheel as your stomach curdles, “shit, shit!” Your panic swells to your throat. No, no, no! You can’t go back. You can’t. You’d rather die.

The truck opens and a figure jumps out, boots crunching the salt. You squint through the windshield as Candy grips her door and the club. You push yourself back into your seat as you gap at Bucky. No, it’s not him. It’s Nick.

“I knew it…” you murmur.

The van door slides open to your rear. You shift gears again and crank the wheel. You hit the gas. Fuck it. You crash into the side of the truck as Nick dodges out of the way. You push through, little by little until a deafening bang shatters the back window. You let off as Candy hisses and claps her arm.

“Fuck!” Candy squeezes her shoulder, “shit! They fuck–” she moves her hand just a little, a dark splotch spreading down her sleeve, “fuck, I’m shot.”

“Candy!” Birdy squeals and bends between the seats, “no!”

The back door opens and a figure looms in the dark, the yellow light of the headlights limning the angles as he grabs Birdy by the hair. She shrieks and cries out as she’s yanked back. You reach for her but he waggles his gun at you in warning. It’s the man from the cafe.

“Lloyd,” Birdy whimpers, “what are you–”

“Fucker,” Candy growls, her voice dwindling as she slouches forward, “she… she told him…”

“Birdy, did you–”

“I just wanted to say goodbye–”

“Shut up!” Lloyd snarls as he tears her across the seat.

The handle on your seat snaps back as someone tries to open it from the outside. Nick shatters the window with his elbow as you shield yourself with your arm. Candy’s door opens and her seatbelt clicks as the large shadow on her side untangles her limp body. She’s not moving anymore.

“Get–” you slap at Nick as he grabs at your seatbelt, “get away! Who the fuck– why the fuck are you doing this?”

“Shhh, baby, keep yourself under control and I won’t hurt you,” he lets the belt repel and grabs you by the front of your coat, “much.”

He hauls you out as you claw and kick. You hear Birdy sobbing and the heavy footfalls of the other man. You see Candy in his arms and you flail helplessly. It’s over. Someone’s finally come to claim their bounty.
