Literally shaking and sobbing in my bed right now over (S) Finish It from the Crow Strider AU
In a good way. Sort of. Okay part of it is grief for the fact that it took a fancomic to give the majority of the characters the decent role/ending that they didnt get in canon but mostly it’s glee over the epicness that was the video
Okay I’m going to try to sleep now
#IT’S SO GOOD SERIOUSLY IT’S REALLY FUCKING GOOD#okay spoilers below bc im going to squee over this for a sec#almost the entire main cast has been rescued!#including their sprite versions!#and hal!#they all god tier!#they all fight the condesce and get to utilize their aspect powers to the max!#KARKAT USES THE BONDS OF THE ENTIRE CAST AT THAT POINT TO CHOP HER GODDAMN HEAD OFF#KARKAT GETS TO BE AWESOME INSTEAD OF WHATEVER THE FUCK THAT WAS IN CANON#and bc of the post that pushed me to start reading this au finally#i know my precious clown boy will eventually get a rescue too#at this point pretty much the only ones whose fates im unsure of are calliope and aradia#and the only ones i know are dead are the dancestors (rip that made me cry so hard)#marijn talks

i know some of you have been pressing your faces to the glass waiting for me to see this one in particular SO i saw "the nurses" the other night and am still thinking about it!!
i love love love it when characters get pushed to a point where you can almost see their childhood selves pop out, like are they even talking about what's happening right now? or are their 12-year-old hearts just screaming?? i love that margaret's outburst is both irrational (the hostile work environment is coming from inside the house; i was yelling at my tv "baby it's your fault!!!") and so so honest.
[this turned into a bit of a character thesis, so not only is there a readmore, there will also be a reblog soon with the rest of the post because i maxed out the image limit] [edit: part ii now in the reblogs!]
this whole time, margaret has treated her subordinates with a heavy hand because she thinks it's the right and fair thing to do. the rules say this is how it works!
she maintains a high standard of excellence in brutal circumstances, but she's also reactive, moody, and unforgiving. she's often shown on the edge of losing control and authority, she inflames situations by overreacting, and the thing she punishes most egregiously is disrespect (toward frank, toward the army, toward herself). she intentionally underlines the distance between herself and the other nurses at every turn.
from season 3 "there's nothing like a nurse": [all IDs in alt]
really, everything she thinks and does comes from a place of "they're not supposed to like me," but the childish part of her that is completely unable to see her own behavior is confused and hurt because "i'm just doing my job so why don’t they like me???"
it's her job to maintain discipline, but especially here in 4077-land, she doesn't have to lead with the whip. henry was beloved because he was an overly permissive clown, which will never be her speed, but colonel potter has all the same training as she does. he's loved and respected as the Good Regular Army Guy because he leads with discernment and mutual respect.
it's easier for him. he's more experienced, he's respected and supported from above and below, and he has a calm temperament — which isn't nothing.
from season 4 "the interview":
whether she's aware of this as a problem or not, we at home can see how margaret's inability to control her emotional reactivity causes her as much grief as her inability to control other people.
if she were capable of laughing off small slights, hawkeye and trapper wouldn't have used her as a chew toy so much, and henry might have taken her real concerns more seriously if they weren't lost in the noise of daily fits, you know? she rarely started it, so i'm not blaming her for the hostile chaos circus of seasons 1-3, but i am saying she would have had a better time if she knew how to take a few deep breaths.
this description from the script, after the near-brawl in the nurses' tent in act one, is basically her character thesis statement:
and here, when she's reacting fully emotionally, the truth comes out! the reason that she won't be flexible and show compassion to the nurses isn't because of the rules, but because they're mean to her!!
that's obviously a very bad place to lead from. she has enormous institutional power over them, including controlling their freedom of movement, but she feels like all the other girls in school are hanging out together and they hate her. because they are! and they do! the fight in act one boils over when they make fun of her hair, and that sent all of them back to middle school.
and in many ways, that's where margaret's emotional maturity is stuck (which is, i think, why i find her so endearing). she can't see herself. she knows they don't like her, trust her, or want her around, but she doesn't understand how she dug this hole herself, or how to get out of it.
to add insult to jealous injury, one of the nurses (mary jo, who gets between margaret and baker to stop the fight and takes care of the others in different ways) is margaret's age, and the others look to her as their chosen leader and personal support.
and i'm sure margaret had NO IDEA this was the messy truth until she heard it come out of her mouth.
and her emotionally breaking on the "one lousy cup of coffee" in particular…
i wonder, how often does some version of that first tent scene happen? does she deliver their assignments every night? she walks in already defensive, they immediately stop laughing, and then... she either finds a reason to scold them or they ice her out until she leaves. (and they probably start laughing again as soon as she does!)
from her perspective, when she arrived for the dreaded sleepover and they turned out the lights the minute she walked in, it's like they cancelled the nightly coffee klatch just to avoid spending one social minute with her.
i also think the nurses are right when they assumed that she wouldn't have accepted an invitation to hang out with them (and might even have snapped at them for being inappropriate for asking). she doesn't cross that emotional line, even when she should — she didn't know gaynor was spiraling after losing so many patients in a row, and didn't respond compassionately when she learned.
has she ever invited them for coffee or a friendly chat? no.
...... but her circumstances have recently changed.
[reblog with the rest of it is here!]

The Last-Minute Sci-Fi Gift Guide
There's only one thing worse than procrastinating on getting gifts for your loved ones, and that's procrastinating on putting together a guide to help out everyone else with all those gifts. It's Dec 12, so you can decide for yourself which I'm doing.
Art book: Worlds Beyond Time, $32
If you follow this blog, you might have heard of this one. I published Worlds Beyond Time: Sci-Fi Art of the 1970s this year after five years of work on it, and I think it's really good! 400+ images, 100+ artists, with lots of fun art history and jokes.
Also, it's just $20 right now if you order through my publisher and use the code SKIPTHELINE! Cheapest it's ever been!
Card game: Coup, $14
In this "social deduction" card game, you play as a government official in a future dystopia who needs to backstab their way into power. Everyone starts out with just two cards in this bluffing game, so the tide can turn pretty quick when players start assassinating each other's cards. The fast pace makes it a good gift for someone who loves spies but thinks they don't like card games.
Game to play over Zoom: Bad Spaceships, $3
If a bluffing game stresses you out, try Bad Spaceships: It's a collaborative world-building game in which you roll dice to see what area of your spaceship connects to another, forcing you to spitball exactly why this is the case. As the game puts it, you might fix the hull by playing Tetris, or charge your weapons in the swimming pool. You're basically getting weird prompts to tell a story that can evolve over the course of the game.
It's such an indie game that it comes as PDFs you download from itch.io, but you can play it just as well over Zoom, if you're looking for an excuse to catch up with your old digital nomad college friend.
Movies/TV: Streaming service gift card
Gift cards are all well and good, but you can personalize them by recommending a few of your favorite shows as well. I suggest:
Hulu: Cowboy Bebop
Apple TV+: Severance
Criterion Channel: Ravenous, Paprika, Strange Days
Paramount+: Yellowjackets
Amazon Prime: The Devil's Hour
But to be honest, this entry is just an excuse to talk about the new Max show Scavenger’s Reign. Inspired by the work of French artist Moebius and with a clear debt to famed 70s animated film Fantastic Planet, this stylish sci-fi show features a bunch of humans trying to survive on a beautiful but hostile alien world. Perfect for lovers of fictional nature.
Vintage sci-fi
This Etsy shop has some good stuff, like the 1971 Frank Kelly Freas NASA poster above, a bit of history that I even mentioned on page 167 of my art book.
Penguin science fiction postcards, $28
These postcards have a ton of very cool sci-fi covers I've blogged in the past – great value if you want a lot of art for a low cost.
Meteorite pendant necklace, $34
I think we all know what kind of rock your loved ones need around their neck: A chunk of meteorite straight out of the 1576 Argentinan meteorite fall.
Book recs
For astronauts: Packing for Mars by Mary Roach, The New Guys: The Historic Class of Astronauts That Broke Barriers and Changed the Face of Space Travel by Meredith Bagby
For comedians: Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, Even Greater Mistakes: Short Stories by Charlie Jane Anders
For sleuths: Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty, Drunk on All Your Strange New Words by Eddie Robson
For crafters: Knits of Tomorrow: Toys and Accessories for your Retro-Future Needs
For the resistance fighters: The Light Brigade by Kameron Hurley, An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon
For slasher movie fans: Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare
Syd Mead "Biomorph Vehicle" button down shirt, $49
T-shirts aren't classy enough for the world's coolest visual futurist, Syd Mead. I haven't actually bought this incredibly odd shirt, but I really need to.
Art prints (and more) from 70s sci-fi artists
Artist shops can be surprisingly hard to track down on the internet, but here's a short list of ones I've come across. All of these artists are featured in my book (except one), so you can read up on them before you commit to a print.
Michael Whelan
John Harris
Syd Mead
Don Maitz
David B Mattingly
Peter Andrew Jones - Jones was one of just a few artists who declined to be included in my art book, but he has a distinct, colorful style that I would have loved to have featured!
Finally, here's one extra bonus, just for everyone who made it to the end of this article: The UK-based educational charity Centre for Computing History sells three big officially licensed John Harris posters featuring these three artworks, famous for their use as covers for Sinclair programming manuals.
It's a great deal that I've never seen mentioned anywhere, and Harris' work has a timeless quality that makes it great for an unassuming wall decoration. If you're outside the UK, the shipping costs will be a pain, but there's no better deal for a classic sci-fi poster.

Are there any triggers for your AK!Jason?
The real question is: is there anything that doesn’t trigger him? 😔 So much was used to make his life beyond miserable for over 487 days... so many things he will now forever associate with hell on earth...
Boisterous laughter (even grins make him uncomfortable for a time)
Blindfolds
Handcuffs
The sound of tape ripping
Face coverings (takes him a while to get used to wearing his helmet without triggering a panic attack)
Dog collars (Max wears a harness when they go on runs, and that comes off as soon as they get home)
Power tool sounds. This is another one he forces himself to "deal with" for the sake of his mission, but those sounds will always set his teeth on edge and his heart to racing.
Someone grabbing him, or even just bumping into him. Because of this he gets extremely anxious in crowds so he avoids them when possible.
Drugs stronger than Aspirin (though he will drink alcohol occasionally. I'll go more into this in another ask in in my inbox.)
Claw hammers. Any of the tools Joker used on him—crowbar, pliers, sledge hammer, nail gun, blowtorch, drill, jumper cables, etc.—make him anxious, but just the sight of a claw hammer will immediately drag him back down to that makeshift torture chamber; leave him frozen in fear, drenched in a cold sweat, numbness creeping down his extremities, blackness invading his vision, fighting for a breath in a world that suddenly seems devoid of all oxygen, heart racing so hard it's gonna explode in his chest, feeling like his world is imploding until he's left watching helplessly from outside of his body as the Clown brings down that hammer again and again and again, feeling like he'll never get back in, feeling like he'll never experience another moment without terror, feeling like he's never been more certain in his entire life that he's dying...
Clowns because he has to fight the violent urge to pummel them in the face until he knocks all their teeth out, until there's little more than a bloody paste and bone fragements left inside a hollowed out skull.
#I’m 100% certain I’ll think of more after posting this 😅#but tysm for the fantastic prompt!#now i'll have something to reference#(and to update when i inevitably think of more)#sands replies#my headcanons#my arkhamverse#jason todd#arkham knight#arkhamverse#jason todd headcanon#artzysyam

Ace Attorney News Roundup
Very behind on several of these, but news doesn't always cross over from twitter to tumblr, so I thought I'd recap some things here:
AAI 15th Anniversary
First: today marks the 15th anniversary of Ace Attorney Investigations! Tatsuro Iwamoto, the art director for AAI, made a celebratory sketch of Kay to commemorate the occasion (link to tweet):
Iwamoto has also been drawing fanart of minor characters throughout the ace attorney trilogy on his twitter page. These include: April May, Dee Vasquez, Yanni Yogi (and Polly), Richard Wellington, Turner Grey, Moe the Clown, Max Galactica, Oldbag (alien mode), Matt Engarde, Doug Swallow, Luke Atmey (and Mask☆DeMasque), Viola Cadaverini, Valerie Hawthorne, Lisa Basil, and Glen Elg. Technically these aren't official art, but it's always good to have more art of obscurer characters!
The Great Ace Attorney Hit A Million Copies
Some big news: The Great Ace Attorney's 2021 port hit a million copies sold, making it the second ace attorney game to hit Capcom's platinum titles list, the first being the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy from 2019! This comes just under 3 years since the release of the duology in July 2021. In comparison, the original AA trilogy hit a million copies in December 2020, shortly under two years since the release of the game in February 2019.
The update to the platinum titles sales shows that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy has reached 3.3 million copies sold, which means that it has sold over a million copies in less than a year! (My last post that had information on sales, where I said the trilogy had sold 2.3 million, was in September 2023.) It also makes it the 30th highest selling title for Capcom, which I think is pretty impressive considering giants like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter are making up the majority of the top 30.
So, the AA trilogy made its first million in approximately 22 months, but now it has sold a million over the last 8 months. I don't know anything about game sales and so this next part is just speculation, but I wouldn't expect it to be very common for games to sell more years out from their release compared to at release? I think that's really saying something about the long-term staying power of this series, and its increasing popularity over the last few years despite not having any new releases (aside from ports - and porting the series to all platforms probably has something to do with the popularity.)
The AA Twitter Is Very Active Right Now
Here are a couple of bullet points with no relation to each other:
-The official ace attorney twitter has been VERY active, particularly the last week. They've been doing the same "weekly book club" for each case that they did for the Great Ace Attorney duology, but that wrapped up last week and now it's just been memes, at least one a day. In most of my time following this account over the last uhh six years, they mostly ramp up marketing around new releases but are kinda silent the rest of the time, with the occasional meme, but definitely not at this frequency.
-Summer Game Fest is next week.
That probably means nothing, as it has every other time I thought we might get some big ace attorney news, but I think it's worth noting.
So, lots of stuff happened this week! Thanks for reading.

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Batman (Terry McGinnis)
In his early years as the new Batman, Terry McGinnis worked closely with Bruce Wayne. Operating from the reactivated Batcave, it was Wayne who tended to much of the mental detective work whereas Terry engaged in the legwork and actual battles, aided by the enhanced bat-suit. Although Terry was a fast learner and while he relied heavily on Wayne’s guidance, he ultimately proved himself as a highly capable successor to the Dark Knight.
Early adventures saw the new Batman facing off against such threats as the super-powered saboteur, Inque, the shadowy assassin, Curaré, and the seismic villain, Shriek. Although his most persistent nemesis was Derek Powers, the radioactive villain known as Blight.
Juggling his time as Batman with school work and a social life was difficult for Terry and he found himself regularly at odds with his teachers, his mom and his extremely patient girlfriend, Dana. Terry’s friend, Maxine, managed to surmise his double life as Batman; although she kept his secret and even used her computer skills to aid him in many cases. Max also helped Terry maintain his secret identity by offering up alibis for some of his seemingly strange behaviors.
When the fiendish Joker somehow managed to return, Bruce tried to forbid Terry from continuing to act as Batman. The Joker was far too dangerous and Bruce could not bear the thought of another of his surrogate children being hurt by the Clown Prince of Crime. Yet Terry would not be dissuaded and he proved up to the task, taking down The Joker once and for all.
Not long thereafter, Batman accepted membership into The Justice League Unlimited, an updated iteration of the League led by an older Superman. Terry’s role in this new League was similar to that of the original Batman, serving more as a provisional member while spending the majority of his time protecting the streets of Gotham.
Actor Will Freddie provided the voice for Batman/Terry with the Tomorrow Knight first appearing in the debut episode of Batman Beyond.

Buggy was Roger’s good luck charm
So I’ve had a headcanon for a while now concerning Buggy and his place on Roger’s crew. It’s no secret that both fans and characters within the One Piece world will look at Buggy and go “How/Why the fuck were you on Roger’s crew?” Hard to say definitively whether or not Buggy actually has good luck considering the absolute hell he has to go through in order to face plant into his power/status, but you still can’t argue that he gains things he is 100% undeserving of lol. Oda’s trolling aside, let’s say that his failing upwards IS purely a result of him having his luck stats set to fucking max with a few buffs tacked on. We can even make this more fun and say the reason Buggy’s luck is so paradoxical is BECAUSE his luck goes to others instead of being reserved for himself (either that or the only reason “failure” is tacked onto this is because Buggy is a jackass and karma doesn’t sleep on her prettiest degenerates). I can see this going down a few different ways:
Maybe they were on an island along the grand line and came across a vendor selling good luck tokens. An ornate looking box catches Roger’s eye, and the vendor starts gushing about how it’s their most “luckiest item” and that it’s very VERY much worth the hefty price tag. It’s also most definitely “a worthwhile investment, trust me! It’ll all pay off in the end!” Whatever that means. Roger’s gut feeling doesn’t need to be told twice, so he buys it. This could be a moment similar to Shanks where they take the box back to the ship only for “SURPRISE! CHEST BABY!” :D to happen again. Roger is no longer allowed to go shopping/haul treasure back to the ship without Rayleigh’s stink eye supervision.
Maybe there’s something similar to the Sabaody slave market where he’s being explicitly advertised as a good luck charm. The person selling him shows off his luck by playing simple tricks (like using cards and gambling with onlookers. Look, if you’re gonna try to sell someone's luck, ya might as well make an extra buck while doing so. And hey, this just proves his good luck charm is working). While the seller is distracted, Roger easily sidels up and eyes Buggy’s mean mug. He asks if Buggy is actually lucky and gets a rudely gestured affirmative. “Great!” He says before yanking the kid up and running off laughing. Rayleigh: what the fuck is that. Roger, tankard in one hand, clown child in the other: a beer.
Maybe Roger just happens upon Buggy and and witnesses his luck in action. Sees how instant karma comes to collect after some pompous jerk spits and belittles little Buggy and immediately he’s shamed and humiliated in front of a bunch of people (in addition to Buggy pit pocketing him in retaliation). He witnesses a merchant make snide and haughty remarks and refuses to sell to Buggy because he’s a visible street rat and then immediately afterwards a flock of rabid seagulls dive bomb his stall and peck at his toupee (a piece of bread is flung and lands right before Buggy’s nose). A group of older teens beating the snot out of buggy and stealing whatever he gained that day only to then immediately run into Roger? Well. Etc. etc. etc. Roger sees all this and more and at this point he decides to take Buggy along just because of how hilarious this all is (Buggy’s eventual love for Roger and therefore his luck beginning to include Roger was just an added bonus).
And since this is such a loose concept (and ignoring that Roger was a D so the following woulda happened anyways lol) we can even say that his luck to Roger is the reason for all the success at the end of his career lol. Edd war? Buggy. Living past his initial expiration date? Buggy. Making it to laugh tale? Buggy, except wait- things didn’t go 100% to plan with that one, huh 🤔🤔🤔🤔 and guess who wasn’t there 🤨🤨🤨🤨 im playing or am i
GASP. OR MAYBE HE HAS ABSOLUTE SHIT LUCK AND HE SAPS THAT SHIT OUTTA EVERYONE AROUND HIM EXPLAINING WHY THEY ALWAYS SOMEHOW LOSE OUT IN SOME WAY INSTEAD OF HIM—

While that is very sweet and all, what Seb remembers RBR to be is a team who supports their driver, if that were still the case, sure, Seb is 100% right, unfortunately, the reality is that currently RBR are doing everything in their power to make it impossible for Max to win.
The question is, does it matter that Max barely makes any mistakes and is trying his hardest to get the necessary points when he is driving a bicycle in a car race and his only team are a struggling will this be his last GP Checo and a guy left to dry by his own team driving a Ferrari (team notorious for having the potential to win the WCC, but preferring to screw everything up so that RBR are not the only clown act in the circus).

I had a random idea for an npmd circus au but I don't really have a plot or story so I figured I might just share it here?
so
Nerdy Prudes Must Die Circus AU?
The nerds are all part of a circus, though no one at school actually knows who they are. The vague idea would be people at school (specifically Max, Grace, and especially Steph) finding out their identities.
Ruth: Walks both tightrope and slackrope, and is being mentored in contortion
Pete: Does aerial stuff, silks primarily but also hoops and trapeze. Sometimes partners with Richie. Mostly so he can throw him.
Richie: Primarily does magic tricks, but also tumbling.
Ted: Contortionist and acrobat.
Paul: Primarily is an animal trainer.
Random ideas:
Ruth's headgear is hidden in her costume by a swirling metal cage of wires as a headdress. She still has a bit of performance anxiety, but it's generally mitigated by the fact that she's so far up from the crowd that no one could see or recognise her.
Ted is afraid of heights. Pete and Ruth tease him about it a lot.
Ted is also the one to mentor Ruth in contortion. He teaches her to use her powers for evil. Checking changing rooms is a necessity, because if you leave even the smallest space unchecked one of them will unfold from it and laugh at you.
Paul is the accountant for the circus. He takes breaks from numbers and goes and chills with the animals. He is also a clown. Not that anything changes about him, he just wanders around and slapstick happens to him. People laugh because he's the only normal guy in a world of madness. So basically as he is in canon.
Richie's sleight of hand is impeccable and he will use it to pickpocket literally anything he can grab. If something goes missing, he is the first person people go to.
The nerds play hide and seek and are absolute menaces at it.
Pete is wayyy stronger than he looks (yes, Steph is very impressed). He can pick up and throw both Richie and Ruth, and often does. This is also how they climb him so easily. They will both hang off him and he just has to drag them around like the dead weights they are
Speaking of climbing, yeah, they can all climb basically anything. Is it a surface? Is it vertical? Yeah they can get up it.
All of them can juggle really well. Somehow Paul's the best.

Its the race-weekly joke or the Aramco power ranking that gives Max a 9.0 for something that if any other driver pulled off would get a 10 or an 11 even but because it’s Max they have to be clown
I really don’t know what the man has to do to get a 10
Lap everyone from P2 after starting from P1 in the pits, or be so quick that he’s finished the following race as well?!
Max is never going to get a 10 on that pathetic ranking. He could be starting from the fucking pitlane, overtake the entire grid with no safety cars and no red flags, and win, and still not get a 10.

Dimentio
A more deep investigation about this emblematic character.
His name is a pun on "dementia" and "dimension". Like Mario and Mimi, he can flip between dimensions, but he can also manipulate them (an ability he shares with Merloo).
A theory says that the surviving son of the pixl inventor is his ancestor.
In the english version, Tippi seems to inmediatly recognize Dimentio upon encountering first. However, in the original Japanese script, her reaction is more ambiguous, afirmaning that Dimentio is one of the Count's minions.
Dimentio originally intended for Dimension D to multiply his power by 256. Upon winning the battle against him, the player character claims that the dimension made them more powerful as well, leaving everyone's stats unchanged relative to each other. This may be a homage to 8-bit storage capacity: 8-bit integers have 256 possible values, so adding 256 (although not multiplying by it) will overflow the integer and result in no net change.
The void is absent from the background of this dimension.
According to Carson, Dimentio approached the Count on his own, wishing to join him. While he was turned down once, he was hired after Bleck read about someone having a similar role in the Dark Prognosticus...
My theory: Dimentio is impure. But not the son of Blumiere or Timapni. The tribe of darkness knew the power and monstrosity of the impures thanks to him. As the tribe saw how dangerous it was and the consequences it would bring, he was left forgotten along with his parents. Maybe that's why he's an impure. For this reason, Timpani, in one of his many visits, was able to see him and his family being thrown out of the tribe. Since he has floating hands and teleportation powers, just like the Count Bleck.
But his mask doesn't let us see how he really is...
Aditional information:
Catch Card: 195
HP Max: 80
Attack: 4
Defense:
Score: 8000
Card Description: Dimentio is Count Bleck's dimension-bending mercenary. The question is, do psycho jesters get good benefits?
Tattle: That's Dimentio... A magician who works for Count Bleck... He's like an evil clown... He'll use many magic tricks, including making doubles of himself... It's hard to get a read on this suspicious character...
Quotes:
"And so I arrive, like a sudden windstorm at a kindergarten picnic!"
"Ah ha ha. Finally, you arrive!"
"Yes, yes, no one likes the icky stuff... Yessss... A perfect world... Sounds magical!..."
"It would be so very DULL if your journey ended so easily... Instead, it ends with...magic!"
"It is truly enchanting to finally meet my hapless victims."
"You must be Bowser. I knew the moment I saw the flailing nubbins you call arms."
"Well met, lady. Your beauty is as refreshing as a slap to the face on a crisp winter day!"
"At last, the hero... I know of you from the festival of hair that dances upon your lip!"
"Now we must duel, like two gleaming banjos on a moonlit stoop!"
"Can you pierce this...illusion?"
"Your blows are like miniature jackhammers wielded by tiny, angry road workers!"
"The next time we meet, you will feast on a deadly eight-course meal!"
"I am not violent by nature, you know. I'd prefer to settle this peacefully, in fact."
"Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Again, for dramatic effect! AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA."
"You've proven to be worthy foes in the past, so I'm not going to make it easy."
"I'm saying that you no longer have value to me, so I'm ending your games."
"And so I strike, like an unseen dodgeball at an echoing gymnasium!"
"Ciao!"
