God of Ambivalence
A tiefling Artificer splits a large stone on a beach to discover a one handed-wizard inside.

Gale discovers that during the hundred years he was inside of that stone, Mystra found at least one new chosen: a tiefling named Rolan who might be able to help.
Elion’s assignment to get food from the larder grew more involved as Master Faydor and the stranger, called Erakis, got to talking and hit it off. In another hour Erakis was cooking up a meal for them, using the blacksmith’s forge in a very unconventional way, as he listened to Master Faydor’s stories and laughed so loudly it echoed around the courtyard. Shadowheart and Lae’zel emerged from their conversation as the sun got high. Master Faydor suggested they make their announcements with the meal.
Gale looked like a new person after a bath and a change of clothes. He had Elion knot the end of his sleeve for now, after applying fresh bandages to the stump. The wizard hadn’t exaggerated. He did clean up nicely. “I don’t suppose there’s any way I can gain your respect back after all that?”
“Why wouldn’t I respect you any longer?” Elion asked, genuinely concerned, but more than anything, distracted. There was a pink hue to Gale’s skin that looked rather nice on him. He tried not to dwell too much on any implications. Blushing was a collection of blood under the skin and it was a good sign, more than anything, because Gale’s skin had so recently been bloodless and gray. That was all.
Arabella was deep in conversation with Shadowheart’s direwolf, and the clowder of cats. She dismissed Shadowheart with a wave of her hand when the cleric tried to summon her over.
“She’s not hungry,” Shadowheart informed Master Faydor.
“Nonsense!” Master Faydor protested, “even inscrutable weave-touched waifs need protein. Mr. Erakis certainly knows his way around a cookstove… forge.”
Lae’zel and Xan hung back near the entrance of the sanctum. Their conversation looked tensed, though perhaps not as involved as that of Arabella and her council of nocturnal predators. Elion watched them without reading a single word that fell from their lips, but he thought he knew the conversation well. It was one he’d had with his own parents a few hundred times.
“I disapprove of the things you do,” Lae’zel might say.
“I know and I do care but it will not change the things I do,” Xan would probably respond.
“Then suffer my disapproval.”
“I will.”
As Elion watched their exchanges grew faster and more heated, then they cooled and slowed. Then they finally stopped. Xan stooped down and kissed his mother quickly on the forehead, clearly enjoying how very annoyed she looked in response. The two of them finally came to join the rest of the group, as Master Faydor had everyone prepare a plate.
They ate in silence, gathering clouds overheard darkening the land, though the forge still had an ember glow to keep them warm and undulate a bright shimmer against their faces.
Shadowheart wasn’t eating much. Elion caught her passing more than a few pieces of meat to the cats that had abandoned Arabella. That particularly lovely white one lounged under her chair, stalking.
“We have an idea,” Elion decided that he might as well broach the subject, if no one else was going to say anything, “About, what to do for Gale.”
“What to do with Gale,” Lae’zel qualified.
“Rolan, of Ramazith’s Tower,” Elion shot Gale a glance, but the wizard seemed just fine to let him speak. He wasn’t eating much either. “We thought maybe, given his expertise…”
Again, Shadowheart and Lae’zel responded by looking at each other.
“Oh Gods,” Lae’zel sighed.
Xan was grinning, he looked up and snagged Elion’s eye, “he’s an old friend, and I’m sure my mothers are quite embarrassed that they didn’t think of him.”
“We hadn’t really gotten around to discussing how we might help,” Shadowheart admitted, “we were still rather mired in the question of whether we ought to or not.”
“I’d sooner say that we’ve done enough already and leave you to pursue your future without further interference." Lae’zel looked directly at Gale, but in spite of her harsh words, her face had softened somewhat. “Whether or not we bear any responsibility towards you, Rolan isn’t a wholly terrible option.” She looked rather displeased with herself as she admitted this. “We could perhaps make an introduction, in twenty-five words or less.”
“Why yes,” Shadowheart seemed pleased that Lae’zel had suggested it, “that would hardly be any trouble at all.”
“Ramazith’s Tower?” Erakis spoke up from his perch. He’d settled himself comfortably on one side of the forge, lying on his side and propping his head up with one hand, while he fed himself with the other. Elion hadn’t really gotten a very good look at him up close before, so he hadn’t appreciated just how large the man was. It wasn’t just his considerably stature or his broad shoulders. His features all seemed wide. It wasn’t unattractive in the least, but it was noticeable. Even his eyes seemed a touch too far apart, his mouth broad, his fingers twice the girth that would have seemed normal.
There was also something strangely familiar about him, but Elion couldn’t quite place it.
“That means you’ll be headed to Baldur’s Gate then?” he swirled his wine before he downed it.
“Seems the best heading,” Gale nodded. “I can't very well linger here,” the way he said it made Elion think he wanted to add something about not being welcome, but was too polite to just come out and say it.
“You should join me,” Erakis pushed the rest of his plate towards the white cat, who was approaching with a curious sniff. “I’m meant to meet up with a friend in the mountain pass. A tiefling ranger who said I could use a portal to get into the city. It should shorten the journey by a tenday or so.”
“A portal? Out here?” Elion balked. If he’d known he could have portaled to or from the city that would have made coming out here for the apprenticeship a lot easier.
“Not well known, and she usually charges a small fortune. But she likes me, and she owes me a favor. She’ll be more than fair.” Erakis tentatively reached out to pet the cat, but the creature darted away, startled by his sudden movement.
“Sounds promising,” said Shadowheart, “I’ll tell Rolan to expect you.”
“You won’t accompany them?” Xan asked, keeping his voice low enough that Elion was sure he’d only meant for his mothers to hear him.
“Lae’zel is right,” Shadowheart told Xan firmly, “we’re not as young as we used to be, we need to pick our pursuits more carefully. I’ve already got this sanctum to see to, and besides—we’ve done enough.” She didn’t sound entirely convinced or convincing, but Xan didn’t try to argue with her, only watched her with a slight frown.
“Chk,” Lae’zel furrowed her brow at her wife, “I didn’t say anything about our irrelevant ages!”
“You want to go with them to see Rolan?” Shadowheart challenged.
“Absolutely not,” Lae’zel hissed, “he’s been insufferable ever since Mystra made him her Chosen.”
“So just these last hundred years or so?” Shadowheart asked playfully.
“Precisely,” said Lae’zel with a snarl.
Gale curled into himself, setting his food down. His face had gone very peaked, very fast.
“Are you alright?” murmured Elion.
In response, Gale lifted his arms to his face, in a gesture that appeared entirely instinctual and futile, like he’d meant to cover his face with both hands, only to remember there was only one left. He looked like he might be ill.
“Shadowheart—I think he—”
“No,” Gale snapped. “I’m fine,” he softened, “I’m fine. It’s nothing.” He exhaled slow, and even, eyes closed. Then he picked up the bottle of Waterdeep whiskey that Elion had found for him in the kitchens and took a generous swig.
At least he finally had something in his stomach.

Personal Bubble (of Hope)
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/F0zPTxN by MissIdash “You’ve been alone for too long, Yeosangie,” Hongjoong said with a serious expression while Mingi and Yunho nodded, eyes wide and imploring. Hongjoong’s hybrid, Seonghwa, kept his expression neutral, if a little suspicious. “And you would be doing a good thing. It’s not like you don’t have the space and I promise, Wooyoung and San are good kids.” “But I don’t want kids…” Yeosang mumbled, lowering his gaze onto his knees. He felt for the kids, Seonghwa’s clowder mates, but wasn’t that what the shelter organisations were for? Specifically taking in hybrids and helping them get homes with people who actually wanted hybrids in their home? He was pretty sure that was how Seonghwa had come to live with Hongjoong, there was even a contract Hongjoong had signed and everything. “Then think of them as friends!” Mingi said, lips spreading into a smile. “Yunho was my friend before we got together. Archaic Lake Cats Culture
Before the tribes and before the forest clans there was the Lake Cats. They acted much more like real cat clowders but had clear differences.
The single group would travel around the lake during different seasons. In Greenleaf they’d settle in the marshes, in Leaffall they’d settle in the lush forests, in Leafbare they’d settle in the river lands, and in Newleaf they’d settle in the sparse fields. A cat is given a name at birth and they stuck to that name unless specifically changing it for a special reason examples being Half Moon, Fallen Leaves, and Broken Shadow. A single spiritual leader leads the group across the territories and performs ceremonies like the honor ceremony, choosing when to travel to the next camp, and sleeping next to the sparkling pool.
The honor ceremony is when a young cat is sent into the tunnels at dusk tasked to traverse them to find their new self and re-emerge at dawn to mark themselves as a full grown cat. This is done every newleaf no matter how old a cat is because this is when the Tribe is settled at the field territory right next to the sparkling pool (later the moonpool)
The changing of camps is decided by the current leader usually as the first signs of the changing seasons show up
Sleeping at the Sparkling Pool was a event held every newleaf after all young cats became adults and done by all cats of the group who could make the journey. Here the cats would sleep atop the smooth rocks or directly at the pools side if they were particularly close to the Stars and speak with their ancestors. While some dreamed of catching prey or seeing a loved one others would hear whispers of the future
Sharing of prey was a well practiced tradition of making sure even the weakest or unable cats got some food. This is a common thing across all forms of the original Lake Cats
It was a harsh Leafbare when the Lake cat Leader Half Moon received a whisper of the soon coming future. A massive fire would strip and destroy the newly sprouting fields, if the cats stayed they would dwindle and die out. But where they would go was not foreseen. After telling the well respected Smooth Stone (prev. Stone Song) about what she saw the cats put it to a vote of where they would move, to the mysterious mountains or unknown lands. Casting stones they came to a tie. Unsure of what to do the Lake Cats broke apart, Half Moon’s group heading to the mountains and Smooth Stone’s group heading off to strange lands. Both groups would end up living but in very different ways. Half Moon’s followers becoming the new Tribes of Rushing Water and Smooth Stone’s becoming the Sisters.

Follow the compass South to find freedom.
In the southern portion of the region, in the wide-open golden plains of the Phoenix Fields, lies a group of free-spirited and ambitious cats dedicated to living their lives by their own dictation - not anybody else's.
Are you a lost wanderer, looking for somewhere to call home, but wanting to avoid the strict rigidity that you see all-too-often? The Wings beckon you South.
Tumblr media

The Wings Throughout History
The Founders (Years 0-13)
Founded by Spitfire and her four mates, blessed by Liberty and tasked with promoting personal freedom and growth to the cats they cohabited with and any newcomers they come across.
The Age of Sucession (Years 14-27)
Two of Spitfire's mates have passed and the Wings do not think the replace them. After a sign from Liberty, it is established that there must always be five Feathers.
The First Compass War (Years 28-34)
The Empire begins encroaching on Wing territory, pressing their hunting patrols further and further east into the Phoenix Fields. Upon confronting a patrol, the Wings learn that the Empire does not take them seriously, and it ignites the anger of the entire group - particularly Dusty, one of the younger, newly-elected Feathers. Once the confrontations and tensions turn to bloodshed, Dusty is murdered and left for dead.
The Wings seek help from the Clowder. Dusty's younger sister, enraged by her sibling's death, pleads their case to the Clowder leader, securing the Clowder's support in the War. While she was negotiating, however, the Empire had attacked the Grotto and both her children were killed. She swore to destroy the Empire's General, Silkweaver, and vanished into the mountains.
The Wings face-off with the Empire one last time with the Clowder at their side, only to be shocked and horrified when Loyalty, the Empire's Divine, moves to strike down Silkweaver but Dusty's sister emerges from the river to rip her apart instead. Upon vanishing again, after declaring that the War is over, Dusty's sister gains the moniker Estelar and becomes the first ruler of the Fury.
The War of Flames and Flood (Years 35-39)
Post-War, many Clowder cats stay behind the help the Wings rebuild after Silkweaver's destruction, most notably the Clowder leader's son.
The leader's son only intended to stay for a few moons, but ended up falling in love with a gentle tomcat Dune, of the Wings, and ending up staying closer to two whole years with the Wings.
Due to the Clowder leader's failing mental health, he begins to resent the Wings for stealing his son, and eventually their is some resentment on the Wings side too, mostly from a she-cat named Ruby. The leader's son chooses to leave his mate and return home to try and soothe his father, to no avail.
After months of tension, Dune heads east and try and check on his mate, only to be cornered by the Clowder's leader. The leader's son manages to convince his father that there was no deeper threat from the Wings, that he just fell in love. Luckily, the two mates were able to soothe the tensions before bloodshed could occur, but the incident still gained a nasty moniker in history.
The Golden Age (Years 40-47)
Trade is established between the newly-four groups. Relationships between groups are healing due to newly improved leadership from all sides.
The Second Compass War (Years 48-52)
Ruby, a Wing full of resentment and anger, still feels unsatisfied that no war ended up being fought with the Clowder, passing on her negative feelings to her son, Scorch. Upon gaining adulthood and eventually the title of Feather, Scorch wished to fight a war - but instead of the Empire, who were in an era of peace, or the Clowder, who a war with had been attempted and failed, he set his sights on the Fury.
Alongside a friend of his, Hummingbird, the two schemed to assassinate the Fury's royal family and frame the Empire and Clowder to start another war. Hummingbird carried out the assassinations successfully, but got caught while escaping. Paranoid, Scorch waited restlessly for the fallout, but the Fury remained silent for almost an entire year, sending Scorch into a panic.
Eventually, Scorch is found dead in his nest, killed by an unknown poison. Confused, the Wings call on Clowder and Empire healers, but come up with nothing. Ruby, distraught, ends up confessing her son's entire plans to all the gathered leaders. The leaders decide to head north to clear up the confusion, but end up encountering a Fury on the way by the name of Wynather, alongside Hummingbird's mangled body. Wynather waves off the other leaders, claiming that they knew the truth of the assassinations and no harm was done, and announced themself the new Monarch in the North.
The Council of the Four Points (Year 53)
The Empire's General, Iceheart, comes up with the idea to meet every moon to discuss grievances and any other updates between groups to avoid miscommunications. The other's agree - nowadays, the leaders often skip the meetings and entrust their Ambassadors with the honor.
The Wolf Queen (Years 54-Present)

This was going to have a more formal introduction involving a drawing of the deceased cats that explained things, but yer man here is already exhausted so it'll come later.
Welcome to my Clan Gen challenge, in which I play the Warriors fan-game Clan Gen (which can be downloaded here) and draw my clan once every in-game year to see how the clan and its cats has changed over the course of its story. Clan Gen is a life sim, in which you have control over a clan of cats and help them survive against the whims of RNG every moon. The actual in-game cats don't have much in terms of personality and relationships so a lot of what I've written down for them is original. If you've played the game, you'd probably know that lol
So this is Strike, a clowder of cats named after the striking of waves. The founding members were sent dreams of a shooting star that leads them to their new home in the form of an old shipwreck.
The clowder had a trio of co-leaders in the very beginning; Coatidance, Fumblefreckle, and Kestrelwhisper. My game follows my fanclans' terms rather than the canon ones, so their afterlife is the Glory Star rather than StarClan and so on.
Fumblefreckle | male | 135 moons old | shameless / excellent mediator Fumblefreckle co-founded Strike with his friend, Coatidance; and his mate, Kestrelwhisper. However, Coatidance died not long after the group began to settle around an old shipwreck. She became the group’s spiritual guide, leading any future dead to the afterlife. Fumblefreckle was heartbroken, but things only became worse when Kestrelwhisper wandered off in the middle of the night and was found dead the next day. His death wasn’t seen as suspicious, as the clan’s herbalist supposed he had simply died of old age. Before Kestrelwhisper’s passing, Fumblefreckle was a much happier and bright cat but now has become rather distant. He tries to distract himself by keeping himself busy via mentoring, but hasn’t worked great. His age may also be causing him to make some. . .recent questionable choices with the recent apprentices. He sees Gravelspeck and Suncrawl almost like daughters he and Kestrelwhisper never had. He has mentored Cloudlight and Tawnyripple, and is currently the mentor of Shrubpaw. Bluesplash | female | 74 moons old | ambitious / great speaker The clan’s one and only herbalist. She is Cloudlight and Suncrawl’s mother, but she has always been more interested in healing over her kits. Despite this, she does get along with her daughter and the young warrior Snipleap. She has a small mutual crush on Randy, and also thinks Gravelspeck is cute. She is a little worried about the clan’s future as she hasn’t any any sign about obtaining an apprentice yet and Fumblefreckle still refuses to assign a co-leader moons after Kestrelwhisper’s death. Randy | male | 109 moons | bloodthirsty / good speaker Originally a kittypet, Randy wandered the Man village for most of his life and surprisingly keeps a good amount of friends. One of these friends, a fellow kittypet named Sprout, vanished one day and Randy went out to search for him. After asking around for while, he found out that Sprout had been seen with the new clan. Randy made his way there and found Sprout–now Halfsprout–, who was more than happy to see him. As they talked, neither of them noticed a fox was stalking them until it attacked. Halfsprout was fine, but Randy was left with a mangled tail. Halfsprout rushed him to Bluesplash, who sadly had to remove some of his tail. As he recovered, Randy realised that his age was quickly catching up to him and decided to stay in the clan. He also grew attached to Bluesplash while he was stuck in the medicine den. Once he recovered, Fumblefreckle offered to give him an apprentice which he accepted. He is the mentor of Scorchpaw.
Gravelspeck | female | 83 moons old | strange / good speaker A lady who couldn’t catch a break for most of this year, despite the nice beginning. She spent a lovely night with her best friend (and crush), Brownstripe–then watched a clanmate, the young Clayfeather, fall into an icy river and drown while out on patrol in the same moon. Then she lost Brownstripe the next moon while out on patrol when he became trapped in a Man-trap and was taken away. Gravelspeck believed that she was cursed and refused to go out on group patrols, fearing that something horrible would happen. She had been given Brownstripe’s apprentice, Snippaw–and they bonded over their shared loss. Thankfully, Brownstripe returned two moons later and is slowly able to convince Gravelspeck to patrol with him. There, he eventually confessed his feelings and they happily became mates. When a loner, overwhelmed with caring for their kits, asked the clan to take the kits in–Gravelspeck was quick to take them in. She is Snipleap’s former mentor.
Halfsprout | male | 66 moons | careful / good teacher Originally named Sprout, he lived happily with his owners in the nearby Man village. He kept mostly to himself, but he was good friends with the wandering Randy. However, Sprout has a weak immune system so he has spent a lot of time sick. This caused his owners too much time and energy, so when he fell sick with whitecough again–his owners decided to abandon him. He was left on the side of the road to fend for himself. Sprout chased after his owners’ dragon, screaming and catching the attention of a Strike patrol. He was accepted into the clan, but he still deeply misses his owners. He hasn’t done much other than attract Randy to the clan and fall ill a few more times.
Brownstripe | male | 55 moons old | calm / fantastic hunter While he is a great hunter, Brownstripe is otherwise a rather ordinary tom. He was captured and taken away in a Man-trap early in the year, but was released after being neutered. Before being taken, he had Snippaw as his apprentice and they didn’t get along well, as Snippaw loved to make fun of him and was generally disrespectful. He is very grateful to Gravelspeck for finishing Snippaw’s training in his absence. Speaking of Gravelspeck, he simply adores her. He had hoped they’d have kits together, so he was very frustrated when he realized he could not sire anymore. His frustration became worse when Gravelspeck very openly decided to take in the loner’s kits. Fumblefreckle saw this, so he appointed Lightpaw to him in hopes of bringing Brownstripe closer to his kits. He is the former mentor to Snipleap, and is currently Lightpaw’s mentor.
Suncrawl | female | 20 moons | loving / good hunter The clan’s (literal) golden warrior. She grew up alongside her brother Cloudlight, and Snipleap as the clan’s first apprentices. She was apprenticed under Kestrelwhisper, and spent a lot of her time with him and Fumblefreckle before the former’s passing. She reminds Fumblefreckle of Coatidance and spoils her. While both Cloudlight and Snipleap both deeply care about her, she doesn’t feel as strongly in return. In fact, she is rather shallow and entitled and likes her mother best. She objected to Tawnyripple getting an apprentice, as she thought that she or her mother were more capable.
Cloudlight | male | 20 moons | vengeful / good speaker Cloudlight is a grumpy young tom. He was mentored by Fumblefreckle, but he felt left out whenever his mentor spent time with Kestrelwhisper and Suncrawl. He loves his sister, but doesn’t understand why she seems to prefer their mother’s company when their mother hasn’t been the most affectionate towards them. As fresh warriors, he and his sister even chased a dog off clan territory together. Thankfully, he also has Snipleap and Tawnyripple as close friends. He stood up for Tawnyripple when the younger warrior was given an apprentice.
Snipleap | male | 18 moons old | righteous / great hunter Snipleap was more jovial when he was younger and always made fun of Brownstripe with Suncrawl. He would go to regret his actions when Brownstripe is taken by Man and sees how his new mentor, Gravelspeck, is effected by Brownstripe’s absence. He wished he had been given one of the new apprentices, but he stood up against Suncrawl and Bluesplash when they disagreed that Tawnyripple was capable of mentoring at such a young age. Tawnyripple | male | 13 moons old | fierce / great teacher Tawnyripple was the only kitten when the clan was founded, so he has spent most of life being babied by his clanmates. Fumblefreckle was his mentor when Kestrelwhisper died, so Tawnyripple spent a good chunk of his apprenticeship having to be trained by Cloudlight and Snipleap. In hopes of fixing his mistakes and helping Tawnyripple gain more respect with his clanmates, he gives the new warrior an apprentice; Deltapaw. This had the opposite reaction. Suncrawl and Bluesplash objected, but Snipleap and Cloudlight stood up for him. He is Deltapaw’s mentor. Lightpaw | female | 6 moons old | childish She, alongside her siblings, were born to a pair of loners. When they were 3 moons old, their father was struck down by a dragon while they were travelling for better hunting grounds. Their mother was quickly overwhelmed with caring for a full litter, so when she heard of Strike, she left them there. Lightpaw took her new home and family in her stride and quickly decided that she would someday become the next leader. She is highly competitive with her sister, Scorchpaw. Lightpaw is Brownstripe’s apprentice. Scorchpaw | female | 6 moons old | strange The strongest and rowdiest of her litter, Scorchpaw was close to her father before he died. She fell into a deep sadness in his passing, but has been processing her grief through competing against her sister, Lightpaw. Scorchpaw is Randy’s apprentice. Shrubpaw | female | 6 moons old | childish Shrubpaw was the most heartbroken when her mother left, and has become rather stand-offish towards her adopted parents. From what she’s seen of Fumblefreckle, she isn’t pleased that he chose himself to be her mentor. Shrubpaw is Fumblefreckle’s apprentice. Deltapaw | male | 6 moons old | strict Deltapaw believes himself to be the most mature out of his litter, but he very sorely misses his parents. He is trying to keep an aloof demeanour and pretends to not feel upset by Tawnyripple becoming his mentor. Deltapaw is Tawnyripple’s apprentice.

20 Questions
Got tagged by @marezelle (like a month ago, whoops) and this looks fun, so I'm gonna try it!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Officially 37, unofficially 57-ish (I have a lot on anon right now, plus some semi-ancient FFN stuff posted under a pseud)
2. What’s your total AO3 words count?
Apparently, 644,538.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Kind of a lot? One "it's complicated" fandom which I tend to stay on anon for, especially lately; a fair bit for a very specific corner of Free!, also for Natsume's Book of Friends. Voltron's an ex-fandom but I had fun with it right when it started; there's a handful of other anime I've cycled through. I've got an Undertale longfic I'd really like to get back to one of these days. Lately, a whole bunch of stuff for the 9 Worlds series by Victoria Goddard, which is both amazing in itself and also has my favorite fan community to date.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Names Gone Before—my one and only Adventure Zone fic, and a oneshot, but apparently it was a hit lol
Chasing Silver, Chasing Gold—my beautiful monstrosity of a love letter to the characters introduced in the third season of Free!, and which came out too late for most of the English-speaking fandom to notice it very much (this goes for the show itself and also the timing of my publishing🥲). I am so grateful that so many people have managed to find it regardless!
Equivalence—aforementioned Undertale longfic. I really want to finish it one of these days, but I know what's coming in the last arc and it intimidates me. XP
Omimai—of all my Natsume fics, I'll admit I wouldn't have figured this to be the top one. But I guess Natori is a fan favorite, and I do appreciate that it's very solidly a gen fic that gets a lot of love regardless.
Like trust falls from towers—aforementioned s1-era Voltron fic. It was an experiment to get me posting more, I had fun with it while it lasted, and I got some truly wonderful comments and support from folks reading along while I was working on it. I still go back and reread it sometimes, and I think it was pretty good.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always try to! I want to show appreciation and make sure people know that going to the effort it takes to write a comment means a great deal to me.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's a tough one. Probably Pistachio Christmas Tree, as it's a snapshot of a really rough time in the POV character's life and doesn't really show any signs of things getting better for him anytime soon. (All my angsty endings come from canon compliance, lol)
OH. Or Chasing Fingerprints, which is a Nabari no Ou AU oneshot that I wrote back in high school. I wrote it under some weird constraints and don't really like it all that much, but the ending is ambiguous and deeply angsty.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That is also weirdly difficult to say! Snapshots for Natsume, Slow your breath down (just take it slow) for Victoria Goddard's novel Plum Duff, and turning in your hand for At the Feet of the Sun (also by Goddard). Two of those three are wintertime fluff; I enjoy that subgenre a whole lot.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No. I've occasionally had some slightly weird interactions, but overall I'd say even those were well and enthusiastically meant.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Occasionally, and I'm not sure what kind it'd count as. Insecure, possibly? (me or the characters, either-or XP)
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Only two so far! The weirder one was my first-ever fic, where I technically crossed over Twilight with both old!Who and new!Who. Then there's Clowder, which crossed over two of Yuhki Kamatani's manga from pretty different eras and genres and which I'm pretty darned proud of.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, no.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I had someone ask once, a while back, but at the moment I don't remember which fic it was, or if I ended up hearing how it went.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
...If adding to a bredlik compilation counts, then yes? And I've also done a fair bit of writing to requested prompts for gift exchanges and the like, which isn't the same thing as cowriting but which feels at least a little bit similar.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Oh man, how can I choose? 😭 At the top this has to be a tie between Miharu & Yoite (Nabari no Ou, QPR extraordinaire) and Yukito/Touya (Cardcaptor Sakura, TRC, etc). But also Merthur was my first ship-ship. HiyoIku (Free!) for writeability and general fucked-up-ness, but I'm not always 100% sure I ship it, tragically. Natsume and Tanuma for the same uncertainty minus about 90% of the toxicity, whee.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I'm not going to say "doubt," but uh. A couple of "it's complicated" fandom pieces (especially the ones I originally meant to be series) and also the Undertale longfic. Also some 9 Worlds WIPs, but I haven't started publishing those ones yet, either.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization is a big one—it matters a lot to me and also I've been complimented on it. Fic is my love letter to canon and so I tend to focus on what I love about canon the most, which is almost always the characters' interiority and/or relationship dynamics. I also think I'm usually fairly good at matching the tone of the original, though admittedly the translation aspect of anime stuff gives me a bit of leeway there.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Logistics. I will forget who I put in a room over a certain number of characters, and explaining how people get to and from things (or even appear in a scene) is a terrible chore. (And that's just people—my track record for items, especially furniture, is even worse.) I suspect that my overall pacing also suffers from this because coming up for practical reasons for scenes to start can be difficult.
Also scene transitions, because I write things out of order. :B
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I probably won't, for several reasons. For one, I feel like without a dedicated beta, my errors would be immersion-breaking for anyone with high enough Japanese proficiency. Also, on the other side of things, presumably most of my readers wouldn't be able to make the jump from English into Japanese (which is the only other language I'm remotely able to write in), so accessibility would be an issue. That said, I've occasionally tried to factor in what I know about Japanese and "translate" (at least a bit) to adjust how I write dialogue, when writing fics based on anime.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who/Twilight, lol. (I cared a lot about them both, okay? Also I thought trying to mash up their canonical vampire mythologies would be funny! And I was definitely right about at least one of those things.)
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Oh this is also mean. It's gotta be Chasing Silver, Chasing Gold though. It kicked my ass but I also put my heart and soul into it, and its length, completion, and the responses I've gotten to it have all combined to profoundly affect how I see myself as a writer. (Which may sound a little suspect, but the thing is, I spent years massively looking up to people who could write longfic, most of all to people that could do so and finish. It meant so so much to be able to join those ranks myself, whether or not I manage to do it again someday.) It genuinely feels like one of the most significant things I've done with my life, and it's something I think I'll always be proud of myself for managing to write through to the end.
Annnd done! I'm gonna tag @octopus--writer just for fun ;)

Celaena snorted.
"Surely it would be a pack considering this is the Wolf school and not the Goose school."
Her thoughts would then get side tracked for a moment. A sign she was slowly relaxing.
"You know. I've always loved the idea of calling you and I a clowder."
maasmuse:
“What would happen to them there. Would they just spend one night in the cold and be welcomed back? That doesn’t seem like much of a deterrent.” Celaena explained. There was a reason why her sword and daggers were by the pool.
“I think they do things differently here.” Julian mused. He didn’t get the impression they were like the Cats at all.  “It breaks my brain too, don’t worry. It helps if you consider them a dysfunctional family than a gaggle of witchers.”

Me: So the Jellicle cats are a clowder right? And they’re super accepting of differences in a way I wish the real world was. Of course there are things like “confidence is a good trait for a cat to have” or “you really should take good care of how your coat looks”, but if anyone deviates from what could be considered the norm, no one reacts badly to it. Being eccentric or a little out there is seen as a really cool thing among Jellicles, and having something about you that sets you appart from the rest of them, for example George being a dog and not a cat, is no issue at all! All around, the Jellicle clowder celebrates their differences and-
Some evil, angst loving part of my brain: Cryptid!Misto, as a kitten, was a little weirdo, and freaked out many others in the clowder so much that they avoided him and treated him like he was something other, something dangerous. It made him feel like an outcast among the people who were supposed to be his family, which progressively destroyed him. When the Jellicles realize they had no reason to fear him and that he was genuinely just a lovely cat with some spooky powers, it’s almost too late, and all they can do is hope to salvage what is left of his trust in them. When Jemima arrives with Demeter, and starts to display signs of cryptid magic similar to Mistoffelees’s, the clowder does it differently, and does it right, and shower her with as much love and affection as they can to make sure she knows that she is part of the clowder. Misto still only feels comfortable around a few of the clowder members, but as he does his best to watch over his fellow cryptid to make sure the clowder treats her better than they treated him (or, if they hadn’t changed, maybe even save her from them) he sees how the clowder has genuinely changed since he was a kitten. Slowly, they all start to heal.
Me, crying: Alright, okay, yeah that’s cool I guess. Mhm. Yup.

Lila looks through Marinette bag and steals Tikki thinking she's a doll. She wants to pass Tikki off as a gift from Ladybug to the class. Tikki gets back at Lila. Bonus: Adrien, and Chloe both recognize Tikki and both figure out that Marinette is Ladybug. Chloe redemption.
What a lovely surprise
No bonus
Lila was planning to steal Marinette’s phone. Instead she found a Ladybug doll and lots of sweets. Wow...baker girl needs to lay off the candy.
Well, if she can’t have Marinette’s phone, she might as well steal her doll. Who even keeps dolls at their age?
It would be so easy to humiliate Marinette for her baby toy. But that wasn’t Lila’s style. She liked a challenge.
Cue Tikki overhearing Lila’s plan to pass her off as a gift from Ladybug.
As if.
While Lila was bragging about the present Ladybug gave her and how she adores it, Tikki escapes after making sure there was something left behind that could substitute her weight and size.
As Lila opened her bag to her eager listeners, out crawled out a swarm of ladybugs.
Now, the miraculous cure is seen as a red wind, you don’t really feel the sensation of crawling legs, nor can you closely see the swarm of ladybugs.
But this...a mass of red bugs...is just gross.
Everyone screamed, even Lila. She squealed and jumped, flinging her bag far from her. “Get it off me! Get it off me!”
Kim: Wth!!!
Alya: what kind of present was that?
Adrien: Ladybug would never give that as a present. Besides, I think Lila is just as surprised as the rest of us.
Lila: of course I’m surprised! That was not the present. It was a toy Ladybug! Not a swarm of ladybugs.
Turning to glare at Marinette. “Did you do this?”
Alya: why would Marinette do this?
Lila: I saw her admiring my toy and we all know Marinette has a habit of stealing phones. Check her purse.
Tikki quickly phased out of the purse.
Everyone just saw candy.
Kim: can I have the chocolate bar?
Rose: Lila, you need to apologize to Marinette!
Lila gritted her teeth. “I’m sorry.”
Alya: but who stole Lila’s toy and replaced it with...ladybugs?
Alix:...maybe the surprise was like a lucky charm. Able to burst into ladybugs?
Max: a little warning would have been nice
Alya: I don’t think so. Ladybug would never do this to her best friend. Someone must have stolen the real gift and replaced it with this...loveliness....
Horrible word for a group of ladybugs that creep the hell out of you. Thank god they were flying off already.
Mylène: but how could someone transfer that much ladybugs? No way.
Adrien: maybe Ladybug sent them as a warning.
He had advised Marinette to leave Lila alone and she had agreed. Adrien didn’t believe for a second Marinette would prank Lila. But for Lila to go after her, maybe she had stolen from Marinette and was trying to frame her now for something gone wrong.
Careful with his wording, Adrien sweetly said, “after all, on our first day, Lila told me she had important things to tell me about Ladybug. But then who showed up but Lady Luck herself, scolding Lila for just announcing ‘their best friend relationship’ to the world. We all know how Ladybug likes her privacy. I don’t think your best friend is happy with you, Lila.”
Adrien’s words worked. Ladybug did value her privacy...but for her to send such a créepy warning to her best friend just didn’t add up. Unless...
Nino: are you even best friends with Ladybug?
Ivan: you don’t have any proof. Ladybug herself never said so. You are as much Ladybug’s self-proclaimed best friend as Chloé is!
Chloé filed her nails, not bothering to raise her head. “Except everyone knows Ladybug trusts me with a miraculous. But can Lila say she is Rena Rouge when we know she is Volpina?”
Lila scrambled to regain control. “Of course I’m Rena! Volpina was my akumatized form.”
Alya: except weren’t you supposed to be in Achu during Heroes’ Day?
Lila: Pegasus brought me back.
Max: Pegasus didn’t even show up for battle. Logic would agree Ladybug would have wanted as much heroes as possible against Scarlet Moth’s army.
Juleka: not to mention, Chloé wasn’t exactly Ladybug’s first choice for a bee heroine. Accidents happen. But we all know Ladybug would want a hero who could keep a secret. And no offense Lila, but you suck at them.
Rose: not that we don’t enjoy celebrity gossip.
Alix: if they were ever true.
Lila saw she was being cornered and immediately burst into fake tears and ran away.
Kim: so to be clear, we’re not going to believe Lila anymore, right?
Alix: yup.
Max: affirmative
Marinette: finally
Lila came back with Ms Bustier, who scolded the class for bullying Lila. The class protested that Lila was a liar
Bustier: oh so you didn’t corner her until she burst out crying?
Alya: she accused Marinette of stealing some toy but Marinette was innocent! She’s been lying to us about everything!
Bustier: now, Lila, you can’t just accuse people without evidence.
Lila: she’s jealous of me!
Bustier: that’s not evidence.
Lila continued to sob.
Bustier sighed, “Perhaps I should call your mother and ask her to take you home.”
The tears miraculously vanished. “No. I don’t want to be a bother. I am a grown girl. I can handle my own problems.”
Bustier: good. Now class, turn to chapter 7....
Ivan: hey if Lila was lying about everything, doesn’t that mean she was playing truant?
Bustier: interrupting is rude, Ivan. Besides, I have her mother’s signed note and emails
Max: how do you know those are not forged and fake?
Nathaniel: did you even call Mrs Rossi to confirm?
Bustier: is that really necessary?
Sabrina: if you didn’t do that, you would be breaking protocol and would be held partially responsible for not doing your job
Bustier: this is ridiculous. Class is in session now, not court.
Chloé: I wonder if the school board would be interested in making an inspection of the akuma class.
Everyone turned to stare at Chloé.
Marinette: you do remember that you cause most akumas right?
Chloé shrugged. “If I’m the bad seed, then Ms Bustier is the one who watered the evil tree.”
Adrien: i thought you liked Ms Bustier
Chloé: that was before she ignored Lila sexually harassing you!
Nino: what?
Adrien: i wouldn’t say harass...
Chloé: you also wouldn’t say your father was an overprotective control freak who neglects you emotionally
Cue silence as Adrien sputters and the class agrees with Chloé.
Chloé: since you would accuse me and Dupain-Cheng for being biased.... illustrator, when Lila touches Adrien, is Adrien standing tall or leaning away.
Nathaniel: he was leaning away. Lila does seem to have no concept of personal boundaries
Marinette: why didn’t you stop her then?
Nathaniel shrugged. “I told Lila off in private. And it was just one time. I never saw her doing it again because Adrien doesn’t always stand close to her.”
Sabrina: I have the photos to prove Adrien minds Lila invading his space.
Chloé: so Miss Liar is guilty of deception, truancy, and sexual harassment. And is our favorite teacher honestly going to wait for an inspector to yell at her for not doing her job?
Under the pressuring stares, Bustier broke. “Fine. Lila, go to the principal’s office.”
Chloé: who says she’ll obey?
Bustier: Marinette, go with Lila.
Marinette: but she always twists my words!
Alya: why can’t Chloé go? The principal always listens to her
Chloé: I’m busy.
Marinette: what happened to doing this for Adrien?
Chloé: ugh. Fine. You people are ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous and hopeless without me.
Lila promptly got expelled. Her mother was called. The usual punishments happen. Even as Lila pointed out the principal was biased, the evidence of Chloe’s accusations were undeniable.
Later, Marinette asked what all that was about.
Tikki: oh she stole me so I had decided to teach her a lesson. Don’t mess with ladybugs.
At Agreste Mansion,
Adrien: so if you felt like it, you could summon a clowder of cats?
Plagg: yup. Much more preferable than actual plagues. Of course the target would be scratched and bitten by many wild cats, but this is already much more merciful than my previous punishments for offenders.

Seeker of the Sun Tribe Hierarchy Headcanon
While not officially recognized lore by Square Enix by any stretch of the imagination, this is my personal headcanon and what I use when addressing S’era Rarku’s own sect of the Zu Tribe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Elders
The true leaders of the tribe. The Elders are the direct connection between the Miqo'te and the Goddess Azeyma, and serve as the religious pillar of the tribe. With the blessing of the Goddess herself, their word is not only law, but must be obeyed without question. They are responsible for the spiritual well being of their people, declaring the new Nuhn when a Tia is victorious in the duel, communing with the Goddess to carry out her will, and passing judgment on anyone who defies them. Offending or attacking an Elder is akin to spitting in the face of Azeyma; they must be treated with the utmost respect at all times. Only a Matron can ascend to this rank, and only if they are chosen by the Elders themselves.
Tumblr media
The Nunh
The Nunh is the breeding male and the face of the tribe. He commands his harem of wives and is the last line of defense against invaders. Unofficially the leader of the tribe, he decides when and where the tribe migrates during the Summer Hunts (however the Elders may override his decision at any time for any reason). They can be challenged to a duel by Tia and must defend their title; a Nunh may refuse a challenger, but any sign of weakness may provoke banishment by the Elders. Ultimately they need to sire as many children as quickly as possible so their lineage may continue. Most Nunhs only live a few years before they are defeated. Only the strongest or most cunning Tia are capable of becoming a Nunh.
Tumblr media
The Favored Wife
The main wife of the Nunh and alpha of his harem. A coveted and closely guarded title, she receives the most attention from the Nunh and is treated far better than the other wives. They get to eat first from every successful hunt, get first pick of any valuables claimed by the tribe, and hold power and authority over the other wives. Only the Nunh can decide who is the Favored Wife, and as a result, the competition for this title usually begins and ends in the bedroom.
Tumblr media
The Matron
The end goal for every wife. A Matron is responsible for maintaining order within the tribe, deciding when a daughter is ready to be recognized as an adult, and deciding what role they will fall into: a warrior, a huntress, or a wife. In accordance with Azeyma's station among the pantheon, a wife is required to give birth to three daughters before they are eligible to ascend to the Matron stage. Unsurprisingly most Matrons are older women.
Tumblr media
The Tribewives
The community pillar of the tribe, the tasks of the wives as important as they are numerous. They are responsible for pleasing their Nunh, birthing three daughters as quickly as possible, preparing the food from a hunt, raising their children, keeping the tribe grounds clean and tidy, patching up their Nunh after every duel, passing down the stories and songs to the next generation, and instilling virtues and wisdom in their daughters. If the tribe practices slavery, they are mainly responsible for easing the great burden on the tribewives' shoulders. The tribewives are also responsible for passing down the stories of old, as most tribes do not use a written language of any kind.
Tumblr media
The Warriors
Savage, ruthless, fearless. The warrior women are devoted to keeping the tribe safe, and represent the martial pillar. They roam the territory and ambush unsuspecting trespassers, perform raids on trade caravans, and coordinate the resistance of an invading force. Usually they will capture or kill any outsider they come across, and bring anything of value back to the matrons. Proud and ferocious, the warriors often ritually scar themselves in addition to tattoos and body paint.
Tumblr media
The Huntresses
These hunter-gatherers are solely responsible for keeping the tribe fed. They will routinely conduct Great Hunts where they will go forth, sometimes beyond their own territory, in pursuit of large and often dangerous animals. They will assist the warriors in times of conflict, serving as scouts in warfare and sentries outside of direct battles. Each huntress must be cunning and swift, and in peak physical condition; persistence hunting is a popular tactic in catching prey, and is used by most tribes throughout Eorzea.
Tumblr media
The Tia Keeper
A rare responsibility given to infertile women, retired and shamed warriors, or even to malformed adult Tia too weak or frail to leave the tribe. They are tasked with raising the Tia, so they can one day leave the tribe and become Nunhs of their own. There is no glory, prestige, or even respect given to the Tia Keeper, and they are all too often ill-suited for raising rowdy boys. As a result, few tribes entertain the idea of a single person raising them; for most tribes Tia are simply kept in the background and raised by their fathers until the Nunh is defeated, where they are subsequently released into the wilderness, regardless of their age.
Tumblr media
The Kittens (Daughters)
The lifeblood of any Miqo’te tribe, and their most valuable resource. All daughters are fed alongside the Nunh and Favored Wife, fiercely protected by every adult in the tribe, and carefully guarded by their mothers and the Nunh himself. At their tenth summer a ceremony is held to celebrate their place in the tribe, and to be given a role by the Matron; due to the specific dynamic of new Nunhs and his harem, the young girls are born in waves with their birthdays typically clustered within a moon or two, making ceremonies easier to manage. If they are assigned to the Warrior caste, they are expected to begin training with various weapons every single day until they’re old enough to officially join them. If they are to be Huntresses, they are taken out into the wilderness with their aunts to learn the ways of the wild. If they are chosen to be wives, it is customary for the tribewives to teach them how to properly wash and repair clothing, set up and tear down tents, forage for edible nuts and berries, and take care of younger siblings.
The Tia
Easily the most neglected and irrelevant group of any tribe. The purpose of a Tia is to one day leave and become Nunhs themselves, or die trying, so their value and importance to their home tribe is virtually worthless. They do not count towards a wife’s journey to become Matrons, so they are treated as a waste of a painful birth. Showing them love and affection can only soften them for their perilous duty, so their mothers are not only expected to dislike them once they’re too old to be breastfed, but actively encouraged to do so. Only the Nunh will show them any sort of affection, and only their blood-related fathers. This hostile and often abusive way of life brings a whole host of psychological problems, creating emotionally deadened children expected to become coldblooded and ruthless killers. Most Tia never make it to their fifteenth summer, either dying out in the wilderness from all sorts of dangers, or dying at the hands of the Nunh they challenged. Coincidentally, Tia out in the wild will form groups called clowders to increase their chances of survival; roving clowders are hierarchical in nature, mimicking the fundamental structures of the tribes they left behind. A Tia’s life is suffering, with only a handful ever escaping the violent cycle of their people’s traditions.

Hello you said to send in questions about Jinx cats. I have so many because I love the little dudes so much. Are there different breeds like regular cats? Are there kinds that feed on different sorts/levels of misfortunes/chaos (ex: slipping on a banana peel vs falling off a cliff)? Has anyone ever tried to domesticate them; if so did that work out? Do they give their warlocks any special powers/abilities? Sorry if this is too much!
NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR BEING INTERESTED IN JINX CATS
1-they come in a variety of different breeds like normal cat, from hairless, Persian, munchkin, and even Scottish Fold (thats the one Diethre has) they all have a similar texture to needle pointed felt and their single eye are usually either green or blue. They’re usually the size of a regular house cat and don’t exceed that size. When they expel and use up the negative energy they store up they become very small and bean like; perfect to put in your pocket. Sponging up bad luck makes them grow in size until they’re the regular house cat size again.
2-Jinx cats are more attracted to higher levels of misfortune and disasters-so while you might see one after wrecking your car-you would see a whole CLOWDER of them at a factory explosion. The more horrendous the misfortune, the better. They don’t seem to have a specific preference-they just like as awful bad luck as they can get. They’re also known to flock around Delor’s temples.
3-they’re relatively tame in general and don’t need much domestication-they’re very friendly towards their Warlocks-especially if their Warlocks don’t like cats. Other people they will scratch and protest being handled by often by screaming and clawing their eyes out. The only time a Jinx cat gets cozy to someone who isn’t their Warlock-something bad is going to happen to that person and SOON. The Jinx cat just wants front row seats when it happens.
4-the Jinx cat be benifits the Warlock much like a Wizard’s familiar in battle. They can scratch and bite but not do much damage. They do however expel necrotic damage when they are (temporarily) destroyed and release negative energy that makes people prone to misfortune ( disadvantage as well as more necrotic damage). They’re mostly used as sponges to soak up bad luck the Warlock and the party overall may be having. Much like real cats they don’t do orders-although a very well bonded Jinx cat will be more willing to follow orders and preform Tricks. Unlike a familiar, the Jinx cat has independent thought and will say NO and if they don’t feel like something, they won’t do it. They can fetch, flip switches, scout ahead (albeit they have no way to communicate if it’s safe to go ahead) and bring you dead things as a sign of affection

Fancy-Fancy (nearly) crosses into Titus Moody
Another cool evening in Hollywood's rank-and-file working-class (or reasonable facsimile therefor) districts finding Fancy-Fancy, the Don Juan of Top Cat's clowder, on the prowl for perhaps his greatest passion: that of satisfying his own inate carnal desires and romance. A slight mist hanging in the air, and the marine layer is unlikely for another few hours close to sunrise.
And what luck hath Fancy-Fancy got: In a back alley close to where a decent view of the HOLLYWOOD sign can be had during daylight hours for the most part, a rather furry-looking cat made her wants and desires known with the inevitable hasty rolling around on the ground, her grayish-white fur being a somewhat confusing blob in the haste.
"And what hath we here, my lovely?" was how the feline Cary Grant made himself evident.
"The name's Skow," replied the rather fur-laden queen in a heavy Down East accent, "as in Skowhegan. As in Maine." Adding, after a short pause, "Making me a Maine Coon."
"A genuine Maine Coon have I as my company!" was how Fancy-Fancy responded. "You much for lobster?"
Skow responded, "Hardly. And forget the stereotypes about we Down Easters taking lobster all the time. Lobster can get to be rather expensive, and besides, while cats may prefer stuff like tuna and salmon, I wouldn't go for lobster. Even the Maine sort. And let's not forget about blueberries, especially in cobbler."
"Though I myself," Fancy-Fancy added, "can't resist Moxie on occasion."
"MOXIE?!!" was Skow's rather stunned response referring to Old Dirigo's rather legendary contribution to soft drinks, adding, "As we say Down East, you either love it or you hate it. And as I understand it, the taste is rather medicinal, if you ask me ... almost like horehound drops."
At any rate, the Maine Coon's tail and rump made themselves known to Fancy-Fancy that she wanted no less than such a flamboyant lover previously of Brooklyn himself to fulfill such desires inherent in her. And in a rather dim part of the aforementioned alley, feline romance became evident in a Don Juan hopeless romanic meeting a rather pragmatic Maine Coon otherwise trying to adapt to Hollywood.
And boy, Fancy-Fancy couldn't help but feel ever more relaxed in releasing of himself in Skow, the whole seeming to last nearly a third of an hour.... though not long afterward:
"Have I ever told you about Choo-Choo?" asked Fancy-Fancy.
"At least these conversations after mating are much better than smoking cigarettes, if you ask me," responded Skow. "Can I get you a bottle of Moxie, even if it tends to taste medicinal?"
Fancy-Fancy concurred, and over Maine's State Beverage the conversation picked up: "I have to admit there, Fancy-Facy," Skow remarked with Down East tartness in the voice, "I've heard much about Choo-Choo."
Fancy-Fancy explaineth: "He's pink for the most part, wears a white turtleneck, and would rather have dream dates with screen and TV stars. Or even those of the stage in Vegas and Reno."
"Yet doesn't manage to win out," Skow managed to respond. "Even if my own kind, mind you, was built for the rather rough shores of the Maine coast, Mount Katahdin and the Allegash Wilderness. Oh yes, and The Beeline between Bangor and Calais--it rhymes with 'Dallas,' I'll have you know."
"All I can say is 'Welcome to Hollywood!" as Fancy-Fancy gulped down some Moxie from his bottle.

I have zero self control
Here I am back at it again with new fanclans!!
I literally spent three hours thinking about this as I helped a friend move to a new apartment, its nice to have something to think about while hauling boxes.
Anyway! Thanks to the anon who mentioned medievalish clans, I wanted to give another go (kinda) to one of my older ideas for a medieval clan, but it’s kinda turned out different than I intended.
First I determined that I wanted to use a sort of hereditary monarchy sort of thing, although its a bit different, and I wanted these clans to be the ones to finally use my list of deities I came up with forever ago.
My thinking was definitely not linear, so I will attempt to pull a coherent train of thought out of the mess.
The Basics:
There are two clans, Dawnclan and Duskclan, named for where their territory is (Dawnclan to the east, Duskclan to the west) and the order of their formation (Dawn first and Dusk second).  Duskclan was formed after a dispute of leadership caused an almost half and half split in the clan and the disgruntled party left.
The leadership of the clans is based on a specific concept, that was started back when the clan was first founded. The clans are led by a Monarch and their consort. The Monarch must be close blood (child, sibling, niece/nephew, cousin) to the previous Monarch and descended from the original line of the founding cats (Mother Misty). The Consort does not have to be their mate, nor do they have to love each other, but they serve as a team in guiding the clan. One of the pair is in charge of things outside of camp (hunting, patrolling, etc), while the other is in charge of things inside camp (maintenance, keeping kits occupied and educated, ensuring everyone has the supplies they need, etc). It does not matter which of the pair does this, either monarch or consort may choose either job, but they may not each do the same one. The only other requirement, is that the monarch must provide heirs, either through their body, or if that is not possible through other means of close family.
Part of the differences between Dawnclan and Duskclan, is that they see who is eligible for this duo differently. Dawnclan could care less if its a cis male/female pairing, or any other under the sun, such as a lesbian or gay or nontraditional pair, so long as they can find a way to have heirs. But Duskclan insists it must be a male/female (can be trans) partnership, as they see it as an issue of balance, as well as the consort must be clan born and bred. This is due to the fact that what broke the original clan in two was that the female monarch took an infertile (spayed) female consort and had no intention of producing kits, expecting their sibling to provide. The soon to be leader of Duskclan took issue with this, and left.
Dawnclan says that the reason for the split was because the leader of Duskclan was a sore loser, which to some degree he was. Because the way it is decided which of the Monarch’s relatives (with preference towards children, siblings, and nieces/nephews) will become the next monarch, is that those who wish to become monarch must submit to a challenge. Either the potential Heir or their consort (whichever plans to be in charge of outside the camp), will engage in a duel (or tournament if there are enough challengers) to determine the rightful heir. The duels are until first visible blood, a sign that the cat is willing to shed blood for their clan if necessary, and forming a pact in blood between the challengers even if they have lost. So when the leader of Duskclan lost to his sister, he refused to live under her rule, gathered supporters who agreed with him, and left.
Clan Ranks/Culture:
So as I mentioned before, I do want to use the deities I had made before, and as a result, Im fiddling a little with ranks.
Instead of just Medicine cats, there are two ranks:
Healer: These are your traditional medicine cats, but with the added duties of memorizing clan trees and bloodlines and the basic history of the clans, such as the great events and when they occurred, the wars, etc.
Clerics: These are the cats who take charge of religious teachings, of signs a prophecies, and most religious ceremonies. They are the ones who bestow favor on a new monarch, they are the ones who tell the moral stories of heroes and villains, they are the counselors and support for the cats in their clan.
Sometimes the duties of both Clerics and Healers intercept, and they have at times been at odds, but they usually resolve their differences.
There are always at least 2 of each at all times, but its not uncommon for each clan to have 3-4 Healers or Clerics. They cant risk the knowledge being lost, so they take the necessary precautions.
There is also a special rank, known as the Knights.
These are generally 3-4 cats who are known to be the absolute best at what they do. They are considered the Monarch and Consort’s Honor Guard, their personal envoys, their paws, their ears, their voices, etc. Usually each Knight has a distinct set of skills, though they are still well rounded, but their is generally the best fighter, and the other three might be the best tracker, or the most stealthy, or the best hunter, or the most eloquent and diplomatic, etc. Knights often are considered to be very desirable as mates (male or female since knights can be either), and its not uncommon for them to be chosen as consorts by potential heirs (In fact in Duskclan most consorts were Knights at one point). Knights do rotate out over time (or don’t make it to retirement due to being in a position of danger more than anyone else) based on the Monarch’s needs and desires, but they keep the title Champion even after they are no longer a Knight, in honor of their service.
How the clans were originally founded:
So this was just a thought I had, that the clans came originally from a clowder, who’s leader, Misty, accepted and allowed her mate to stay. Most clowders often either have one lead male who will chase away or kill kits or other cats he doesnt like, but Dusty was different. He was still fiercely protective of his mate and kits, but he wasn’t aggressive. Other females felt safe around him. And when his Misty’s kits were born and being raised, her daughter Rain convinced her to give other toms a chance too. So before even a clan was established, before names were being changed, the idea of mentoring and apprenticeships was there. Dusty or some of the other females would mentor kits, and if a male could make it through apprenticeship without showing dangerous aggressive tendencies he was allowed to stay. So soon the clowder had not just one male, but several, and it started to grow.
When Misty finally retired, Rain took over, and she chose her own consort to help lead with her, named Beetle. Then they gathered their group together and named themselves officially as a clan (not Dawnclan, that would come later). Together they decided on rules and regulations (the original code), so that they could begin to interact with outsiders and potentially allow them in. It was a much smaller code than canon, and its main tenants included not harming kits, not being aggressive towards one another unless in defense, and that everything in the clan was shared and that the weakest and most vulnerable should get first choice. Over time it evolved to include more, but that was the very start.
Religion came with the next generation, at Misty’s death, when the old stories of the gods took on a new light. Mothers began teaching their kits about Misty as an incarnation of Mehr, the primal mother deity, the one which most cats had heard of and acknowledged. The other god which was taught was the deity of chaos and death, which was a natural counterpoint to Mehr as the deity of birth and life. The other deities evolved over time as new roles and ranks became important. Some took on more real life energy as certain cats were considered incarnations of them, like Misty had been.
Funnily enough, Dawnclan considers the founder of Duskclan to be the incarnation of Hissao, the betrayer.
As for medicine.... well Im not sure, this is as far as I got thinking wise, and I just needed to write it down before I forgot so... yeah. If people like this I might write more about it, Im liking what I have so far, and I never could tell myself to stop.

Saw this on @yeet-noir‘s blog and because they tagged anyone that wanted to do it, I’m doing it.
Zodiac sign: Virgo. What up.
Height: Like... 5′2′’ maybe? Uh... I literally stopped keeping track of my height. I know I’m pretty short compared to most people around me.
Hogwarts House: I actually haven’t read any Harry Potter books or watched any of the movies... I have been told by an extreme Harry Potter fan that I am a chaotic mix of Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
Last thing I googled: Clowder. I literally had to look up what this meant. I had no idea it meant a group of cats but now I am aware. XD
Song stuck in my head: I’m Gonna Kills Santa Claus - Danny Gonzalex as well as MANY others. :’ D
Fav musicians: That’s a long list... Um... I really like Hunter Hayes. Uh... Also a huge fan of All Good Things and Icon for Hire. Oh, I really like Alec Benjamin. There’s more but that would fill this up real fast.
Following: I’m following 517 people. Most of them MLB fans or Sonic fans. XD
Followers: I have 125 followers which was more than I expected? So cool.
Do you get asks: Eh. Rarely. I do have this really nice anonymous person who almost always asks me something when I post memes that say to ask me stuff about miraculous. Don’t know who they are but I really appreciate them. <3
Amount of sleep: I literally don’t know. I know that sounds concerning. ^^;
Lucky number: 13. It’s my favorite number and it just never really steered me wrong. I started loving it because everyone else around me called it bad luck but then I saw how kind of lucky it was on Friday the 13th. Or rather not lucky... just normal. Plus, it makes me feel odd and I like that. XD
What are you wearing: PJs. I have  red with polka dots pants and Ruldolph the red-nosed reindeer long sleeved shirt. I love them.
Dream job: I would love to work in any field that involves being apart of the building process of a story that can come with concept art. Whether it be film or graphic novels or comics. ^^
Dream trip: I don’t really have a dream trip. I would love to visit any of my online friends or see my boyfriend in the UK. <3
Instruments you play: I don’t play anymore and I barely know how but I used to play guitar and piano. XD
Languages you speak: English.
Fav song: Even If it Breaks Your Heart - Eli Young Band.
Random fact: I am also a twin. My family thinks we are identical because our doctor said it looks like it but we were never tested. I don’t really believe it but my twin does. Also, I broke my arms three times. : D
Cats or dogs: Um... I really like both but I’ve had cats all my life so I would probably have to say cats. I think they are so cute and less work but I do love dogs so much!
Aesthetic: Comfort. Usually comfort. I do love T-shirts and sweaters. I know that’s a drastic difference. XD Also COWGIRL BOOTS!!
Tagging: I tag @nobu-akuma @oh-yikes-its-maddie-moo @ratheroddranger @xsailormobian @koo1creations

Has anyone considered a Hannibal au but Standrew??? Steven's a chemistry professor at the University of California and had a passion for forensics but due to his empathy disorder never joined the field. However despite never entering the field officially he is infamous for his accurate deductions to the point the head medical examiner, let's say Shane Madej, is impressed by his work. Head detective Ryan Bergara tries to get Steven to help him on a case but Steven politely declines because he fears the line between himself and the killer will blur. So Ryan enlists the help of Dr. Andrew Ilnyckyj who is not only a famous psychiatrist but also an excellent cook. Andrew is surprised when he first meets Steven at how genuinely sweet and polite he is and how he's trying to decline Ryan but fails since he's such a good soul and people need his help. Twist though Steven is also a serial killer who knows Andrew is one too, but Andrew doesn't know Steven is a serial killer. Cue a lot of mutual pinning and misunderstanding.
Steven also has a clowder of cats whom he adores very much and they adore him, hissing whenever a stranger tries to take Steven
The clowder do not hiss, bite, or attempt to scratch Andrew so Steven takes that as a good sign
Steven also has a few pigs and by accident a wolf that he picked up thinking it was a puppy
Steven gardens too and has lots of really good fruits and vegetables which he gifts to Andrew as a "thank you" for going with him on the case.
Andrew likes Steven's homegrown vegetables and asks him for tips on how to grow them.
Andrew also loves Steven's animals and makes an excuse to come see him
They eventually start spending more time with each other outside the FBI setting
Steven is although bubbly quite weary of Andrew but eventually warms up to him
Andrew likes to make puns which make Steven groan
Andrew is appalled by Steven's eating habits so he invites Steven to eat at his home with friends
The first time Steven eats at Andrew's house, he's eating with Shane, Ryan, Adam, Rie, Annie etc., he asks him what the meat is to which Andrew replies "a special long pig"
Steven has no idea how to react cause he knows exactly what he's eating, it's people, but he doesn't want Andrew to know he knows cause how awkward would it be to explain how you know what it is - also could get stabbed, don't want that
Steven grows very fond of Andrew and is torn between telling Andrew he knows what he is and keeping it a secret so he calls his mother and asks her how to befriend a serial killer
He takes Andrew on friendship dates which send Andrew weird messages like "does he like me? or does he just enjoy my company?"
Adam is just done with these two though
That's all I got so far...
