The eyes - a very significant spot in a human. There's a tradition that when the soul departs the body, we close the eyes, it is because the eyes follow & pursue the path in which the spirit left the body, and the spirit returns to a place where the eyes can never reach. Hence this tradition. There's something really subtle here that's being taught in an inversed manner. Look at those instances in life, while the spirit is still in tact, when you close the eyes. When you are in a state of intense prayer, or kissing someone deeply, or hugging someone really hard or perhaps when you break off completely in tears or even at the height of orgasm. There's something very significant happening in these moments - the eyes don't have to pursue any further, it has arrived, it has hit the mark. The spirit has totally blended, you've reached home, your ultimate destination. Thus, you close the eyes, as a sign of arrival. Such moments are purely of the other worldly - be it in prayer or in orgasm or in a kiss or when someone's singing with all his heart or someone that's intensely weeping. May you have more of such closed eyes moments - the union of spirit & the body, the bonding of form & soul, the wedding of matter and ethereal..
