Whack, you went ahead and just dropped this entertaining gem of a oneshot on Odette's bday no less!
Thank you so much! 😭 💖
I love that Claire is the stern teacher figure, while Morgen is the more gentle instructor. Meanwhile, Sister Margaret is taking the backseat by observing them and Yami with Odette and the other kids. I love that she is mentally making notes to tell Julius about it all later. Nacht, being the troublemaker, never gets old. Yami, being a big brother to kid Odette, never fails to warm my heart.

I just love the Gray Deer gang dynamic being so well represented in this one installment! Bravo!
Gonna go ahead and drop in Sister Margaret's bio here since she's rather new.
And why not throw in the birthday girl's bio too!
Broom Lessons
Summary: Morgen and Claire were sent as lecturers for their squad’s ‘Youth Broom Lessons’ volunteer program. Yami and Nacht tagged along as well.
Word count: ~3.4k words
Note: Odette Dumont and Sister Margaret are @hybridanafrost OCs. Claire Polaris is mine.
Morgen thought there couldn’t be a better day for their Youth Broom lessons. He looked up at the blue sky and smiled. The weather was a perfect balance of sunny and cloudy.
Morgen was filled with excitement as he carried a bundle of broomsticks with a skip in his step. Claire followed him while also carrying a bundle of broomsticks. Both were headed to the orphanage where Odette was.
Captain Julius confidently assigned the two Light mages as lecturers. He believed they could easily handle the task.
Morgen and Claire arrived at the orphanage right on schedule. Sister Margaret promptly led them to the classroom. She introduced the two Grey Deer knights standing before the children to be the ones leading today’s lecture. The children had their eyes wide and mouths gape with amazement. It was a special opportunity to see a magic knight up close.
The two light mages introduced themselves formally again. Morgen was as bright and cheerful as ever. He happily greeted the students and told them that he looked forward to the time they’d spend together.
On the other hand, Claire was stern. Not a curl on her lips nor a pleasant tone in her voice. She introduced herself as straightforwardly as possible.
The children attuned well to Morgen’s vibrant energy. Meanwhile, Claire gave the kids an impression of a strict teacher type. But at least they found her voice soothing to listen to.
Yami and Nacht came to the class as well. Overlooking all that was present in the classroom, they both leaned on the wall far behind.
Odette was shaking on her seat. She had been overcome with joy at the sight of both Morgen and Claire as her teachers.
Morgen began his lecture by introducing the basics of broom flight and emphasized the safety precautions before diving in. He gave a fair warning of the risks of flying unprepared but assured the children he wouldn’t let anything dangerous happen to them.
“All in all, you must be able to grasp controlling the movement and speed while flying on your broom,” Morgen explained. “For the next part of our lecture, I’ll have Claire take over.”
Claire stood in the middle. Her eyes swam across the classroom as if having a grasp of each student present.
Yami quietly observed and read Claire’s ki. Unlike her composed manner on the outside, her ki was in a state of unease. He interpreted that Claire was actually quite nervous.
“Has anyone had any experience of flying on a broom by themselves before? Even for a little?” Claire asked.
The kids turned to look at each other, trying to find if someone did.
One boy shyly raised a hand. “I have. I borrowed Sister Margaret’s broom and used it. But I stopped because I got too scared.”
Sister Margaret raised her brow at the boy. At the very least she thought the boy had courage in a different area. She took a mental note to keep an eye on where she leaves her broom behind.
Claire smiled reassuringly at the boy. “I see. And thank you for you’ve raised a good point.”
The boy pointed at himself. He didn’t know what she was talking about.
“Fear. It prevents us from overcoming our weakness. It hinders our ability to think clearly. Just as Morgen said before, control is the most important thing in learning how to fly. But because of fear we end up thinking of failure, or the worst that could happen.”
The rest of the students fell into silence. Odette listened intently to her words.
“Once you see yourself finally high up in the air, you might think ‘I’ll fall’ but a better approach would be to think, ‘I finally did it and I can keep doing it’.
Sister Margaret observed the newbie lecturers from the room’s doorway. Claire was good with her words. On the other hand, Morgen easily captivated his students with his cheerful personality. She commends Julius’ judgement in choosing those knights.
“Before we head out to practice, allow me to explain the concept first.” Claire continued her lecture. Her intent was to give the children an idea of broom flight so they wouldn’t fall into anxiety.
The kids kept listening.
“Do you know what’s so special about flying using a broom?” Claire raised a hand indicating she wanted to hear an answer from the crowd.
Several students raised their hands to answer;
“It’s easy to use?”
“It’s convenient?”
“It’s common?”
They answered.
“So, so close! Any more answers? Come on,” Claire turned around, waiting.
Odette felt a tap on her shoulder. She saw it was Nacht’s shadow hand that did it. The hand went to her desk and wrote using the pencil and paper on it.
“Say ‘Efficient’.” The shadow hand wrote.
Odette turned back to see Nacht who winked at her in response.
Odette raised her hand.
“Yes?” Claire called her.
“Brooms are used because it’s efficient.” Odette answered but not before looking back at Nacht once more.
Claire followed Odette’s line of sight. Nacht had his eyes turned to the side playing dumb to Claire’s suspicions.
“Very good, Odette. That is correct.”
Odette sat back down and grinned widely.
Confusion was the apparent reaction from her students.
“You see, only a small amount of mana is needed to make flight possible using a broom. It’s special because through appropriate mastery, you can conserve energy by controlling the circulation of mana around your broom. That’s what makes it ‘efficient’.” Claire picked up a broom and showed it clearly. “The force produced due to the circulation of mana around the broom is what allows you to fly. Think of this broom as becoming an extension of your own body. Like if you were a bird, the broom is your detachable wing.”
Some kids chuckled at the thought of having detachable wings.
“If you want to fly faster, you pour more mana into it. If you want to change directions, you also control the direction of mana. After grasping that, it's all about practice.”
“Can we now get to the actual broom flying?” Yami yelled from the back.
“This class is getting boring. All I see is broom and no flying,” Nacht faked a yawn.
The two boys at the back snickered and it ticked Claire.
Taking a deep breath, she gripped the broom tightly and threw it at them like a spear. It flew past the class of kids and landed right in between Yami and Nacht. The tip of its handle was stuck on the wall like an arrow to a target. “If you interrupt again, I’ll send you flying instead.”
Yami and Nacht nodded simultaneously, “Sorry, ma’am!”
The young students, save for Odette, were now terrified of Claire.
Sister Margaret breathed out a heavy sigh at their childish behavior. It appeared that these knights needed as much supervision as the children under her care.
“I was done with the lecture anyway,” Claire huffed.
Morgen clapped to catch the students’ attention. “Alright! Then let’s go out to practice!”
The children collectively cheered.
What came next surprised Sister Margaret. The reason for Nacht’s presence in class was because he would use his Shadow Magic to transport the kids, taking them as far as into the Forsaken Realm. She could understand their choice of venue. This was a wide-open field. The breeze was refreshing. Perfect training grounds for broom flight practice.
They found themselves in a farming village at the Forsaken Realm called Luin. And this was where Claire grew up.
This happened because Morgen asked a favor to Nacht.
Nacht agreed to help transport the kids, stating his simple reason that he would get to watch Claire teach kids and laugh about it. Choosing the village of Luin was something he discussed with Claire beforehand. Claire agreed to it and even helped him find an appropriate location to place a Shadow Marker in.
“Whoa!” A group of kids gaped at the sight before them.
Some kids couldn’t help but run around the vast stretch of grass.
Claire and Morgen went back to their lessons and had the kids try out their brooms. They provided each child with one broom that they brought with them.
They watched and observed the kids find a comfortable sitting position on their brooms. Most kids had their brooms go between their legs. Some sat with both legs on one side. One kid dared to do it while standing which he immediately stopped doing when he kept falling out of balance.
“So… How do you sit on your brooms?” Odette asked.
“I do it like this.” Yami bent down to a squat, and easily kept his balance on the broom.
“What the heck are you doing? You look like you’re about to drop your shit,” Claire said.
Nacht snorted. Morgen looked away, his hand covering his mouth. Without saying a word, the twins agreed with Claire.
“You’re just jealous because you can’t sit like this!” Yami yelled at Claire.
Odette copied Yami’s squat. But as she tried to fly up, she wobbled on her feet. “This is hard.”
“Just stick with the basics and have it between your legs,” Nacht advised. “Or do it like Morgen and Claire.”
Nacht meant that both Light mages preferred to sit with both legs on one side. Claire did so because of the long skirt she wore, while Morgen had his long tunic.
Odette followed Nacht’s advice and placed the broom between her legs. She shakily gripped the broom’s handle with both hands as she focused on pouring her mana onto it. Remembering what was mentioned in their lecture, Odette controlled the flow of mana.
She struggled to make it work. Seeing her having difficulties, she heard Morgen and Yami providing her with analogies to help her visualize. Hoping it would make her attempt easier.
Morgen compared it like it was having the wind fly a kite. Yami said it was like having the waves carry a boat.
Odette waited for the broom to finally push her off the ground. She grew slightly nervous with every passing second. But it instantly dissolved when she could no longer feel the weight on her feet.
“I did it!” Odette said proudly, repeatedly kicking the air with her feet.
Morgen and Claire clapped happily at her while Yami and Nacht had a grin on their lips.
Odette would forever remember this moment.
Time passed and some kids continued to practice on their brooms. Some kids had taken a break and sat on the grass. Claire, Morgen, as well as Sister Margaret kept their watchful eyes on their students.
Yami went off shortly after Odette’s first attempt at flying. Then he came back carrying a table and placed it down on an even surface. He put a large basket on top of it. Something he had been carrying even at the time they were still back at the orphanage. He took the lid off and smiled proudly at the contents.
Odette also took a short break from her flying practice and laid down on the grass. Her eyes were straight up and admired the skies.
“Psst!”
Odette sat up and turned to the sound. She found Nacht gesturing her to come closer. The girl tried to confirm that he was trying to get her attention specifically and glanced around.
“Come!” Nacht called.
Odette stood up and jogged to his side, her broom in hand.
“I’ll show you some tricks,” he grinned.
Her eyes sparkled with joy and flashed a smile back at Nacht.
Claire and Morgen focused their attention on a group of kids flying on their broom. They kept a close eye and guided them when-
“Ahh!!!” A scream came from far above. Claire and Morgen whipped their heads around only to find Odette falling. Her broom was out of her reach.
The rest of the kids suddenly stopped what they were doing. The class came to a halt.
“ODETTE!” Both light mages screamed.
Reacting swiftly, Morgen opened his grimoire and flew towards her with his arms reaching out. While Claire summoned a palm-sized firefly with a flick of her hand.
Claire’s firefly caught Odette first and it safely carried the girl back down.
There was a frown on Morgen’s face. ‘She was faster.’
Claire almost slumped to the ground in panic at the sight of Odette falling. She gathered herself with a shaky breath. “Oh, thank the heavens.”
Yami roared a laughter, “She went pretty high up!”
Sister Margaret smacked the back of Yami’s head. “Fool! The girl almost died!”
Odette bowed her head, feeling guilty for causing worry to Claire and Morgen. “I was trying to do what Nacht taught me.”
Sister Margaret glared daggers at Nacht.
“Just what on earth were you thinking! Didn’t you listen to the lecture earlier? Do you have any idea what might’ve happened to you had Morgen or Claire weren’t here to look after you?” Sister Margaret scolded Odette.
“Sister, please. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have taken my eyes off my student.” Claire stepped in between Odette and Sister Margaret.
“No! This girl needs to learn her lesson!” A brewing rage was apparent in her voice.
“I had it under control. I was about to catch her.” Nacht rolled his eyes.
Sister Margaret marched closer to Nacht. She was planning to shove a handful of salt down his throat.
Morgen called out to stop her. “Sister! Everything is alright. We managed to save Odette in time!”
“Don’t take this lightly! He endangered the life of that young girl,” Sister Margaret said with a raised voice. It was obvious she was furious about what happened.
Nacht snapped back, “She wasn’t in danger! You’re overreacting, old hag.”
Sister Margaret took out her grimoire.
But a sniffle was heard. They all stopped and turned to see tears trailing down Odette’s cheeks.
“I-I’m sorry.” She then curled down and whimpered, “Please don’t hurt me.”
Nacht shifted in discomfort. He now had no idea what to say to her, nor how to comfort her.
Claire froze on the spot. Morgen kneeled to Odette’s side to wipe her tears.
Odette had her eyes tightly shut. Her mind had recalled bitter memories. She waited to hear a disappointed roar. Or the pain that would come from a brutal blow.
But instead, what she felt was a hand lightly touching the top of her head.
It was Yami, who gave Odette a reassuring pat on her head. “Hey, take a breath. No one here is gonna hit you. So lay off the waterworks.”
Odette looked up at Yami. “You're not?” she croaked.
“You think we'd save you from your ass of an old man just to hit you like he does? Give us some credit. We're magic knights after all.”
“You're right. I'm sorry for crying.” She wiped her tears away, “I should be strong.”
“There's no shame in crying. You're still a kid. You just got to remind yourself that you have people that want to help you now. So don't be afraid of us.”
Odette nodded, “Kay.”
“Everything’s going to be fine.”
Sister Margaret glared at Nacht with narrowed eyes. “Continue with the class.”
"I have a better idea,” Yami walked closer to the table he set up earlier. “Let’s all stop for lunch.”
The kids were released from all the tension when they saw Yami take out the contents of the basket.
The children ran over to him.
“Hey! Fall in line you little brats!” Yami called out, rice balls in hand. “Hey kid! I saw you cutting the line. Get back in line!” Yami scolded the kid and huffed back at him.
Sister Margaret sighed at the foreigner’s attitude but was grateful for his effort to keep the orphans in check.
Morgen sat beside Odette, they were both currently eating Yami’s riceballs. “Are you feeling better now?” Morgen took a closer look at Odette’s eyes. It was no longer puffed since she stopped crying.
Odette nodded while her mouth was still busy chewing. She took another bite of the riceball. The texture of the rice was perfect, and the fish filling was savory. It was delicious.
Morgen saw Claire talking to Nacht. But they were far away that he couldn’t hear what they were saying. Although he could see Claire’s disgruntled face and Nacht wearing a scowl. Morgen could only guess what they were discussing.
Yami silently sneaked behind Claire and shoved a piece of riceball straight to her mouth.
Claire faced Yami and he could swear he saw her eyes glow in anger.
Just like that, Claire went for Yami’s head as Nacht stood there confused at the turn of events.
The day went by so fast, and Sister Margaret knew they should return to the orphanage soon. The sun steadily sank its way down the horizon. Many were still enjoying their first time flying a broom. Some kids raced with each other. To which she cried out at them to be careful not to crash into anyone.
Morgen focused on flying with Odette as Nacht’s so-called tricks scared her from flying too high up.
Nacht was warned to stay away from the students or Sister Margaret would bind him with her Salt magic.
Claire flew with the kids, and she showed them tips on how to maneuver the broom.
This time, to prevent any accidents from happening again, Claire used a spell that stationed fireflies around them. Should any student accidentally fall off their broom, their designated firefly would catch them.
Some kids were in awe at the glowing fireflies that loomed around them. Others were fascinated by it and tried to catch it, but it would always slip out of their fingers.
“We should try this again next time. But we play a game on who could catch Claire’s fireflies the most,” Odette suggested.
“That is if she’ll let you catch them,” Morgen hummed, remembering how her firefly beat his own speed.
“It’s almost time to head back,” Sister Margaret said.
The kids frowned at that. They were having so much fun.
“Now, now. There’s always a next time,” Sister Margaret reassured.
When it was decidedly time to head home, Nacht opened his shadow portal again and brought the kids back to the orphanage.
Finally putting an end to today’s class, Morgen and Claire waved goodbyes to the children. Although exhausted from practice, the children called out and loudly thanked them.
As the Grey Deers plus Nacht left the orphanage, Odette chased after them.
“Don’t forget to teach me how you made those riceballs,” Odette reminded Yami.
“Sure thing,” Yami replied.
Nacht awkwardly stood behind Yami as he couldn’t bring himself to look at Odette after what he did.
Claire elbowed Nacht’s arm. They stared at each other, but it was Nacht who looked away first.
Nacht rubbed where she hit him and knew she wouldn’t let him off the hook.
“Uh- Odette? About what happened earlier…” Nacht had a hand at the back of his head. “Sorry about that,” he apologized.
Her eyes widened. She didn’t expect to hear that from him. “I’m sorry too. I fell off my broom because I wasn’t being careful.”
“You were doing great for your first time. Don’t let it get into you. And you were courageous to even attempt advanced broom techniques after seeing it from me once.”
Odette felt a creeping warmth in her cheeks. “Will you still teach me your broom tricks?” she asked.
“As long as there’s proper supervision,” Claire said. “We don’t want you breaking your neck.”
“Alright. Thank you for catching me earlier, big sis.”
Claire tensed, “That- Uh- I.... did it on reflex. Don’t scare us like that again. Okay?”
Odette nodded. “Thank you for helping me out, big brother,” she glanced at Morgen.
“I’m glad that you’re feeling better now. There’s no need for you to feel scared whenever you’re with us. Remember that.” Morgen bent down and gave Odette a warm hug.
Sister Margaret walked out and told Odette she should go back inside.
Odette nodded at Sister Margaret. “Bye!” She waved at her adoptive siblings.
They waved back after a promise of them returning to her again. Morgen looked like he hesitated to leave.
The group finally made their way back to their personal quarters. They felt the exhaustion sink in the moment they laid down their soft beds.
It might had been a great experience for all of them. But teaching kids was extremely tiring.
Meanwhile, back at the orphanage, Odette comfortably tucked herself in bed and recalled all the earlier events. Her sleep was filled with happy dreams.

Scully comes out to Mulder as bisexual he responds by also coming out as bisexual
They’re kicked back in Adirondacks by the fire circle, the logs popping and sparking when the flames lick dried sap. The air is just crisp enough to make the heat cozy. Scully brought home cider donuts from the farm stand along her commute, which they wash down with a pitcher of sangria. A cinnamon-sugar crust coats her lips.
It’s been two minutes since he asked her and she hasn’t answered.
“So?” he prods, nudging her foot with his. “It’s been long enough all the sin’s gone out of it, Dana Katherine. Fess up, did you experiment some in college? I’ll absolve you if you did.”
He puts the lewdest possible edge on “experiment” so that she can’t in good faith make a quip about organic chemistry or the effects of acetylcholine on Rana pipiens.
Scully flops her head back against the heavy wooden chair; who cares at this point? The meanest nuns are dead. “Yeah,” she says. “I did.”
She turns to him for a reaction
His eyebrows are up, but he looks genuinely interested rather than smirking. “Oh? Do tell.”
She stares up at the rising column of smoke, tracks it to Polaris. Tracks it decades back. “This girl, Elizabeth. Roommate’s boyfriend’s sister. We…um. We all went out to a bar one night while she was visiting.”
Scully leans into the memory. Calgon and ski sweaters and Aqua Net. Layered bangs, Jordache jeans. Liz’s rum and Coke.
Liz’s hazel eyes, Liz’s blue mascara.
“Anyway. We all had a lot to drink and Claire - that was my roommate - Claire and Elizabeth’s brother were making out in his Cutlass Ciera.”
Liz’s mouth like a taut August plum, the taste of her frosted Revlon lips…
“There was this couch in the back of the bar, some coffee tables, you know the feeling. Anyway, Liz pulled me over. We’d been dancing some, Fleetwood Mac I think, and she kissed me. I was shocked, good Catholic girl that I was. But I was three shots in, and it was college, you know? We settled on the couch, kind of drunk I guess….”
She swallows hard, looks at Mulder. “Is this weird? It seems kind of weird.”
He shakes his head, eyes bright in the flames. “Go on.”
“We were kissing, mostly. She touched my breasts through my shirt, slipped her hands down my jeans but not my underwear. It was pretty innocent, I don’t know. I didn’t see her again after that but it definitely changed my perspective some. I began noticing if I found a woman attractive. Got at least a bit more comfortable with the idea, anyway. Stopped telling myself I just liked her hair or her outfit.”
She hears his breathing thicken. Just a little, but it’s there.
“And never after?” he asks.
Scully wonders what else he isn’t asking her. Wonders what it must be like to be young now. She shakes her head, takes a pull of sangria. Chews a chunk of macerated pineapple.
“No,” she says. “I came close a couple of times, but no.”
She wishes she had a cigarette or a joint. Something to do with her hands and her mouth even after so many years. And even after so many years she doesn’t tell him about what she thought of Esther Nairn, about whether she wanted to kill Diana or be Diana or fuck Diana.
They watch the fire for a time. Hear it crackle, gaze into a vast and endless sky. There are old gods there, older than hers. She knows that now. She embraces it.
“What about you?” Scully asks. “All those posh Eton boys at Oxford, surely one struck your fancy.”
She doesn’t really expect anything of it, but she asks to make him confirm or deny. To deflect. It’s how she’s been trained. And she’s endlessly intrigued by his formative years, her well-bred, prep-school lover. They’d practically invented sodomy, hadn’t they?
Mulder makes a soft, throaty noise. Grabs a donut and takes a huge bite.
She turns to him. “Oh my god,” she says. “Did you sleep with Alex Krycek?” Where had THAT come from?
He coughs donut crumbs everywhere. “Scully!”
She clamps on to it. “Did you?”
His turn for the sangria now, blushing. Blushing! Fox Mulder, did you really? she thinks, oddly turned on.
Mulder clears his throat. “He kissed me, but no. He kissed me twice, actually. But no, I didn’t…” he trails off, shaking his head.
“Did you like it?” she asks, her voice sex and sandpaper. Arousing herself further, Jesus.
“Yes,” he says. Holds her stare. Runs his tongue over the lips she’s kissed so many times. That Alex Krycek and Diana Fowley had kissed. The sting is gone, only the fascination left.
All the sin’s gone out of it, he’d said. Yes, it had. Over fifty, of course it had.
“But it wasn’t your first time.” A little breathless, that.
“No.” Licks his lips again. “You guessed right, Agent Scullly, brava. This guy, at uni…we. We didn’t sleep together, but we’d. You know. Touch.”
Agent Scully.
The father of her child looks unimaginably shy. “Ourselves. Each other.”
She knows about Phoebe, all the details. She knows about the cemetery and the gothic drama and the kind of sex that feels like a revelation instead of a mind game.
He knows about Daniel. She sees the child she was then, has long since forgiven the silly girl.
But this is different and, in her mind, sweet. Two boys, lonely, away from home. She hopes they were comforted. Happy.
“Did you…keep up with him?”
Mulder shakes his head, mouth a little swollen in the primal orange glow. “It only lasted a term before he graduated. Never spoke after that. Phoebe, you know. Other women.”
“Alex.”
He grins at her. “You have to admit he was awfully pretty, especially for a complete piece of shit.”
Scully laughs. “That he was.”
She reaches for his fingers in the dark.
In the light.

Polaris Computing Ltd., more commonly known as simply Polaris, was founded by Stanford graduate students Claire Tashi and Joel Lovinger in 2002. The company rapidly rose to prominence after the release of their sophmore operating system Andromeda in 2006. Users praised the system for its balancing of desirable traits from competing companies, namely Apple and Microsoft. Blending the heavy lifting of Windows with the visual sensibilities of Apple and a level of customization offered by neither allowed the small tech startup to skyrocket into financial success and industry acclaim.
Andromeda was a major improvement over its debut OS Centauri (released in 2003), marking major shifts towards a focus on smooth and instinctive UX and UI. The desire for a smooth and highly personalized user experience was Claire's contribution, and something that truly set Polaris's products apart. Joel's contribution was in functionality and capability, pushing their OS products to the limits of technical capability.
Eventually the company began creating its own devices to pair with its software, a way to further engage devoted customers and bring in more sales. While their operating systems could be installed on any device, the launch of the Cygnus desktop computer in 2008 was a foray into a new era of the company. Joel carefully oversaw the technical details of its design, the hardware used, and together with Claire personally monitored the progress of software development for the launch of Lyra, the follow up OS to Andromeda that would debut pre-installed on all Cygnus computers. Shortly after that Polaris released their first laptop, the Gemini. It would also use the Lyra OS, and promised to replicate as much of the experience of a desktop as technologically possible. The design ethos of the company persisted, and accessorizing the Gemini became increasingly popular. The company began to sell official cases and protective equipment in a variety of colours, patterns, and materials, along with laptop bags, headphones, mice and other accessories.
What would truly cement Polaris as an untouchable tech giant was an early wave smartphone meant to compete with the Blackberry: the Lynx. Released in 2009, for a while the Lynx was the only smartphone to properly compete for the market owned by RIM and the Blackberry and Apple's iPhone. Multiple versions of the Lynx with slight modifications were released, along with models in all sorts of colours. The parade of phone cases and charms and holders would further contribute to the individualization continued.
As the market shifted heavily in favour of touchscreens, and iPhones became the dominant cellular device on the market, Polaris too shifted with the tides. In 2011, the company released their own version of a touchscreen phone, essentially a miniature tablet with added features that carried a more true-to-desktop version of Polaris's OS: the Acrux.
This pattern of call and response would continue over the next decade as the company began to balloon to titanic proportions. Its value would grow in a way that seemed exponential. With solid leadership and a better-than-average public reputation than most tech companies of the era possessed it seemed there was nowhere but up, up, and up for Polaris and its C-suite executives. Shortly before the 20 year anniversary of Centauri's release, and what was sure to be a monumental milestone for its leaders, Claire would slowly phase out of the company. With her shares sold and redistributed, and Joel able to secure over approximately 52% ownership of the company's shares, he remained on board as the sole CEO of the company and its single largest shareholder.
This shakeup was met with Joel's very own press tour; interviews in magazines, glowing reviews on tech news sites for new Polaris products, and more public appearances and charitable donations. Amid this flurry of good press was the nugget that would explode into a major story in the tech world: Claire was out at Polaris, and the Lovingers had separated. As far as the public knew it was amicable, quiet. Things have carried on, but whispers in the network have revealed cracks in the foundation. With Claire came a small exodus of loyal supporters, particularly those aware of the impending divorce. New hires worked to Joel's advantage, giving the impression of a growing and thriving company. Polaris still pulls in unconscionable amounts of revenue every year, lining Joel's pockets nicely. So far he has been unscatched, the victor, a man on top of the world.

Favorite color:
Mainly orange, but i've also been liking a mix of greens lately
Last song:
With Regards by Polaris, its become an on repeat sorta song for me lately
Currently reading:
Literally just finished reading Bonesmith by Nicki Pau Preto. Waiting for the sequel to arrive along with the last 2 Murderbot novellas. Also been on and off reading Looking After Your Autistic Self which has been pretty helpful
Currently watching:
Bouncing between a few things. Watching Ted Lasso with my partner and starting watching Murderbot Diaries with my friends last week. On my own I'm on and off watching Gundam 78 (the movie cuts) and Gundam Gquuuuuux
Currently Playing (added this since a number of my mutuals game/ i like to yap about games) :
Started playing Clair Obscur Expedition 33 this week and absolutely loving it! Which feels quite surprising since I've been quite hesitant to play JRPG's / JRPG adjacent games. Finally started to nail the parry system today and damn it feels so good to get that timing down, keen to play some more
Currently craving:
ngl craving more time off/ more time with my friends. Took today as a sick day to prevent feeling worse and that's been pre good but dang I wish weekends were longer, feel like there's never enough rest when working fulltime. Also probs a bit too serious but lowkey craving hearing that people enjoy spending time with me 😅 Not sure if the audhd or something else but I always struggle with understanding people care about me and really appreciate hearing it
Coffee or tea:
Love both, was drinking neither of them for the longest time due to some ongoing health conditions, but recently become well enough that I can enjoy a coffee or tea again!
Last song you sang out loud:
With Regards by Polaris. got it on repeat and its really scratching an itch for me!
Favorite chip flavor:
Apologies for british on main but love Pickled Onion Monster Munch. Just such a distinct flavour but a bit difficult to find here in Aus. Other than that I'm a fan of Salt & Vinegar or Sweet Chilli
Last book opened:
Looking After Your Autistic Self
Earbuds, headphones, or nothing:
Headphones, specifically my noise cancelling ones. Not a fan of how sweaty they can get on hot days/when im at the gym. But damn they help so much with sensory issues at work/ home Used to be an earphone fan but could never find the right fit for my ears so I always found myself adjusting/ pushing them back in which got annoying fast
Last place I went other than home:
Outside of work, its the drive thru coffee shop that I went to today. But if were talking places I got out of the car for, it was the new Lego store at my local shopping center :D
A color that looks good on you:
I think I look good in light blues, oranges and greens :D
Last trailer you saw:
Think it was the new trailer for the Animated Predator movie that comes out in a few months. Keen for the multiple time period Yautja hunts 👀👀

“  you should move on.  i did.  ”
she doesn't even wanna be back in their house. it's just that claire had forgotten something behind in— well, what used to be her office. for a moment, she had hoped that she didn't run into joel. unfortunately, her hopes were crushed under the sound of his shoes. it should be funny that claire still recognizes the way he walks. instead, it's almost sad.
her eyes are almost sad too when she turns her head to look at joel, though it quickly turns into something more empty and neutral. " it's hard to move on when you still have my shit. " she's aware he's already forgotten about her. it's not as if she doesn't have ears and eyes inside polaris.
" i promise i'll be gone soon. i just gotta grab a couple things. " a pause, then, " you haven't changed the lock. why not? " @anithikos

Hi there!
Asking you if you have any ocs that you made out of whims and then forgotten about them altogether?
Ayo? Hello there, stranger.
To answer your question, yes. I have plenty actually. But the ones I remembered are definitely these:
Shirayuki (King of Fighters)
A clone of Kula Diamond who was created by NESTS to hunt down K' and Kula but later was swayed by the two of them and decided to join them afterwards. Able to wield blue fire and ice, depending on combo and DPS. (Brothaaaaa, idk what to do with you-)
Shiroi Masamune (Super Robot Wars/Taisen)
An artificial human pilot from a Newtype-inspired super soldier program under a pharmaceutical company called Epsilon with a lack of emotions. She was able to flee when a scientist responsible for her finally knew why Shiroi and her sibling units were created for. The pilot of Tsuyakeshi-Fuyu, a Personal Trooper with the spirit of an ice deity possessing her destroyed PTX-08R: Huckebein. (Time to play SRW again..*grabs controller*)
Nezuko Kurogami & Marcus Junius Brutus (Fate)
Ah these two. Like you read in the name, Nezuko is the Master of a Saver Servant by the name of Marcus Junius Brutus. I don't remember the further details into it however but it follows heavily the plot of the Chalice stuff where everyone is fighting one another and stuff for a big thing. They do get a lot intimate though later on. (Ngl, I wanna remake them for something else now lmao since I dropped Fate when their shit grew-)
Joan Blauer (Diabolik Lovers)
(omg, I actually liked this thing back then???)
Ahem- Well, this sort of follows the plot of DiaLovers where Joan is more to guide Yui while she searches for Cordelia, her sister figure after she was essentially trapped for...a hundred years or so(?), Joan isn't a vampire per se but sort of cursed to stay alive no matter how much she tried while she do that, she deals with Yui and the Sakamakis, Mukamis and Tsukinamis. (Legitly Yui's bodyguard, poor Joan getting martyred here too xD)
Maihime Suou (Mirai Nikki/Future Diary)
Essentially a sort of extended stuff revolving Yukiteru Amano doesn't want to become a God anymore because he misses Yuno, so he restarted the game with Maihime becomes the main lead and a man named Kaein Kurosu (who later becomes Maihime's love interest, legit dunno how that went there but-), Maihime won, revives Kaein and they kinda effed off happily ever after. (..nah no. The design for Maihime was hella neat but the character isn't worth reviving to me. *zetsubo*)
NiTE (Devil Survivor 2)
Not a thoroughly thought character here. She is essentially doing an Olympic torch thing, replacing Alcor as the Sword of Polaris with a different protagonist (id remember the name, halp-), follows the same DS2 plot and she lets herself be murdered to help the protagonist. (Yeah.. she's a heckin flop. Not worth reviving to me.. oTL)
Kagami Sankenshin (Highschool of the Dead)
A biker/racer girl (imagine Beta Claire from RE2) who is actually like an experiment from the lab that started it all. Kinda like Alice from the RE live action movies but watered down. One thing I remember is, she is good with snipers. (Girl, I wanna remake you for something else.. but I dunno what franchise..)
Schwarze Rosendamme (Ib)
Simply a Guterna's drawing that came to life. She is a skilled swordswoman who didn't have malice intentions towards Ib and Garry. Thing is, she never told them that she was a painting, simply someone who wanted to guide the two of them out of the gallery to safety. (Schwarze's look actually inspired me to draw Aurelle, my first DnD character.)
Aikawa Hibiko (Digital Devil Saga)
I think I made her on a whim when my partner made a DDS character back then. But the story I gave for Hibiko was that she is a recon for her tribe and suddenly kinda got blessed/cursed with a demon form like any other character in DDS are. (Maybe I'll use her design for something else.. decisions.. decisions...)
Anri Akamine (Original Work)
I created Anri during the whole isekai genre craze back then. She is a game developer that died due to overworking. Her powers are complete elemental manipulation, high appraisal skills and actually own high level crafting skills (she spent three roleplay sessions creating a small fridge, go figure xD) and very skilled with swords apparently. (I do use Anri from time to time... When I'm chatting with anyone from an isekai franchise on c.ai)
Mercedes 'Mercy' Harrison (Castlevania)
Mercy is essentially a Belmont, but her birth was hidden so no one would hunt for her thus the Harrison family name. Despite looking skittish and shy, she is a very skilled fighter with her whip and daggers. She also knows a little magic as well that later grows as she spends more time with Richter. (..miss Mercy, I legit forgotten about you oml... Welpp.. time to find a way to bring you back..)
---------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's all I have in mind I think? But thanks for asking the question, all of these characters do linger in my mind like a dream from time to time. Hope this answered it. Cheers!✨

For the ship ask. What are your thoughts on Claire x "the boys™" (Morgen, Yami, and Nacht)
Hi Whack! 😀
Makes sense, compels me!
I love the dynamic Claire has with all 3 simultaneously, especially during the Gray Deer days. There's just something about it that feels so right with all of them together. Almost as if they were the blueprint and inspiration for the Black Bulls before the squad even existed. They're a rambunctious found family unit of misfits in their own way.
Claire is a short-tempered bastard of a noble with a peasant background. Yami is a brutish foreigner. Morgen is just unusually kind and pure-hearted despite all of his privilege as a noble, and Nacht is just an emo edgelord. Lol
They may argue and squabble, but they'll always have each other's backs.

(Picks up the guy then punches him in the gut) Nacht: This is how it's done! (Ties up the guy to a tree and hits him with a bat like a piñata) Morgen: (is going crazy in the bg) STOP. STOOOP!!!

bleeding and a run
CW: blood (as per title) guns, hospital whump, being really high on morphine in said hospital, slavery mention, asassination mention, ecoli mention, mild swearing,
Tatiana
----
Several people were at my door, a girl with olive skin and a very tall redhead girl that I had to look straight up to meet the eyes of, and she carried a passed out, bleeding-in-many-places Cami in her arms. Cami was almost dwarfed in comparison to this girl. Almost. Cami was about a foot shorter.
My mother and I let them inside, then conversed for a minute in Portuguese to figure out what we’d do, when my mother recognized something about the tall one.
“Wait- are you Night- Claire Malkom’s kid?”
“How do you know her name?” the redhead asked. Her voice had lowered by about an octave.
“You’re little Magdalena? Oh my God, last time I saw you you were so little!”
“I- don’t know you,”
She backed away.
Cami’s eyes slowly blinked open, and she mumbled, “Cuz, where are we?”
“That’s Airi- Ariana’s kid?” Lara said.
Magdalena nodded.
The ambulance arrived, and Lara said, “I’ll call Ariana, okay Magdalena?”
“Okay,” she replied.
Magdalena and the other girl took Cami to the ambulance and didn’t return.
Lara took out her phone and called someone, speaking very rapidly in French. I didn’t speak French, so I didn’t get much out of it, but when she hung up, she said, “We’re going to the hospital,”
We went out to the car, and my mom drove us there, then parked and hugged a tall red-headed woman wearing a knitted sweater and sweatpants. Not ideal for August.
My mother introduced us, and Ariana smiled at me. She seemed ancient, though she looked about thirty. My mom’s age.
A man with dark hair and pale skin, holding the hand of a girl with white hair, extremely pale skin and a red and white cane in her other hand approached us and gasped, “Any update, mom?”
Ariana nodded and said, “She’s in the ICU right now, awaiting surgery,”
She hugged him and said, “Don’t you worry Jon- Xoya, she’ll make it,”
We entered the hospital, and a few hours later, Ariana was told she could go to her daughter’s room now.
We went to Cami’s room, and she lay in the bed, an oxygen mask over her mouth and nose.
In and out, in and out.
Her wrists had IVs in it, with blood in one, some fluid in another. She had patches on her eyebrow, a bandage peeked out from under the light blue hospital gown. Her hair and the blood were the only colors in the room.
Her eyes blinked open, and I saw liquid gold for a moment, then her eyes dimmed and she went limp again, her arm angled oddly to the point it would be stiff when she woke up.
Ariana moved her arm back to a comfortable position, and she rolled to the side and mumbled, “Mommy, where am I?”
Ariana kneeled close to her and whispered, “Hospital,”
“Really? Did I get ‘im?”
“Get who?”
“Hunter,” she mumbled, “Did he finally realize he needed to leave me alone?”
“I’m sorry, Cams, no,”
She didn’t notice, and squinted up at the ceiling.
“Polaris’s really bright tonight,” she mumbled.
“Cams, we’re inside,”
“Oh, really? Cool,”
Cami didn’t come to school for the next week, then returned in a wheelchair. She had bandages on her leg, and she looked terrified of Mr. Simmons now. I couldn’t see why, he was strict, but he was kind and gave us an extension for her not being there.
Not being at school didn’t stop her from working.
She wheeled next to me and leaned on my shoulder, then said in her forever quiet voice, “So, how’s the project going?”
“I have a bunch of photos and info now,”
“Yay!” She sounded slightly louder here.
She hugged me and said, “So, do you think Ms. Delano will be fine with me missing a week of rehearsals and showing up in a wheelchair?”
“Yeah, she’s pretty nice about things like that,”
“Thank god, last teacher I had got mad at me when I was hospitalized with E. coli O157:H7,”
“What?”
“E. coli on steroids,”
“Yikes. My mom told me about an E. coli outbreak when she was eight that killed some of her friends,”
“Damn,”
“Yeah, my mom said there wasn’t much access to hospitals at the time,”
We went back to work and I realized, I had no idea where my mother grew up or lived before here. Just that she grew up in a communidade, or favela if said by the upper class people. The places where the descendants of former slaves ended up because the government failed to provide for them.
I texted her about it when I got out of Mr. Simmons’ class, and she said about an hour and a half later, an entire other class passing, ‘It's a complicated story, one I’ll tell you someday.’
Someday. A nice promise, although non-definitive.
After Chem was over, I went to lunch, and Moon brought her friend Marina over. We tolerated Marina, not some of Moon’s other friends who’d annoyed all of us, and certainly not Kira, who enjoyed spouting slurs and getting scolded by everyone else about it.
Even Moon barely tolerated her.
Kira decided to come over. She had dyed snow-white hair to match her white ears and tail, and at the time, she wore all dark colors, an odd contrast.
She slammed her hands in front of Cami and hissed at her, and Cami ignored her.
“I’m talking to you,” Kira snapped.
Cami looked up with a bored expression and said, “Could’ve sworn you weren’t talking,”
Kira’s left ear twitched and her lip curled into an animalistic snarl.
“Shut up!” She snapped.
“You’ve done most of the talking,” Cami remarked.
Kira’s hair and tail bristled, and Cami looked up at her for a moment, and I saw a golden glow for a split second.
Kira opened and closed her mouth, then hissed, “How dare you?”
“How dare I what?” Cami asked, her tone just as gentle as when she started talking.
“You know what I mean!”
“I really don’t,”
Kira snarled louder and called her an awful word.
Cami’s expression hardened, and she snapped, “You’re lucky I can’t stand right now,”
I heard rain above, even though the weather could normally be seen for miles, and there was no trace this morning. Lightning struck right outside the school, and I jumped when I saw the burning almost-white light hit a tree. Murmurs of worry echoed through the cafeteria, and at our table, all but Cami looked spooked. Cami, instead, looked exhausted and tilted to the side with the next lightning strike. She stayed upright because of the wheelchair’s seatbelt, but we weren’t sure what to do. As the storm continued, her breathing slowed, and eventually, just as quickly as it began, it ended, and she opened her eyes and gasped for breath, almost choking.
Almost, thankfully. She was fine after a moment, just- off. She didn’t know what was going on until we filled her in.
Then she wheeled away, took out her phone and texted for a moment, then returned.
The bell rang, and I tried to ask her what happened, and she blew me off and said, “It’s nothing, I have… narcolepsy,”
Liar.
But I didn’t press.
I didn’t change how I spoke to her, either, it was her business, not mine.
When class went out for the day, she went straight to the theater after giving me a hug, and I went to the bus.
Cami
----
“So, what happened?” Addy asked.
“I got shot six times,” I replied.
“Oh.”
I wheeled myself to the edge of the stage, tried my hardest to hop up, only for pain to shoot through my arm, and I fell back down.
I got back in the chair and wheeled the long way, through the back. Thankfully, there was another way, through the chorus room.
I had to be careful wheeling down the ramp in the room and wheeled backstage.
Eli was doing the first scene. The play we were doing was an old classic from back during the first Civil Rights movement, a love story suggesting that shifters get equal rights as well. Most involved in the movement agreed, but the humans in charge at the time sucked and said no. The vice president at the time was actually assassinated by a member of congress for pushing for a shifter rights bill in 1968. So we waited for twenty years for the second movement, and that one, humans finally relented and now the kenomi and dragon-folk had rights. The dragon-folk often lived in the packs, however, and often didn’t care. Olivia was one of the non-traditional dragon-folk, both physically, as a more unique thing that couldn’t fly, and mentally, she had a dream, and she longed to make sure that no one would ever forget it. She wanted to make it safe for all of us to return as ourselves.
Eli shifted as the script said and a voiceover would allow them to speak on the show night. Many shifters couldn’t speak in our animal forms. I wasn’t one of them who couldn’t, I just didn’t enjoy doing so, it felt weird.
When they got off the scene, they high-fived me and said, “How’d I do, Critura?”
“Great!”
I looked at my book as I wheeled onto the scene, in the middle of the other’s monologue as the book told me. Seeing my wheelchair, it threw my scene partner, Sebby, off a bit, but he quickly stopped his surprise and continued the scene. I got to tell his character off for being an ass, as I’d adopted Eli’s character, Jenny.
It was really fun.
He stood there, character dumbfounded for a moment, and we exited in opposite directions. Me, stage right, him, stage left.
I didn’t have to go back on ‘til scene four, an ensemble scene in which people were gossiping while I told Eli’s character to go straight to the press about the mistreatment at work.
Eventually came four o clock, and we all had to go, and I wheeled out when Xoya called me. They and their girlfriend, Winter, were in Xoya’s SUV, and Winter looked in my general direction, smiled, and greeted me when I got in the car.
We didn’t talk much of the drive, though I wanted to tell them everything that had transpired.
Don’t worry, Cams. Xoya’s mental voice touched my mental form.
“Don’t do that,” I said, “Its weird,”
“Well, if you bothered with the exercises I gave you, I wouldn’t be able to,”
I threw up a wall of my magic internally, solid rain dust, almost like what littered the ground after that storm I’d accidentally caused. That beautiful dust didn’t always come, but when it did, you could tell exactly where I exploded.
Xoya dropped me off at the gravel path, then started their journey back to theirs and Winter’s shared apartment. I walked up, then got inside and went into my room, and lay back on my black and navy-blue bed, the only orderly part of my paint splattered walls. All had meaning, yet to most, it looked eccentric.
My closet was black, the color black helped me to calm down. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my calming, black leather jacket anymore because of the amount of times I was shot in the torso the week before. My ceiling was navy blue. The color for sleep.
I’d go over the rest, but I wouldn’t have the energy to write all that, so just imagine an abstract painting of all colors. And I do mean all of them. Every color I knew.
I peeled off my shirt and traced the old scars that ran down my torso to my thigh. The long gone pain that made me feel as I made my former friend feel.
I missed Hunter. I wondered if Marina missed me, if Hunter told her. I wasn’t about to ask, on the chance she got scared and stayed away.
I pulled myself onto my bed and shifted. I got off and walked out the room, and I walked through the woods. I was strong in this form, and I needed to stretch my legs.
I lay down on an angled log and ate some termites and probably decimated the population while I was at it, but I couldn’t help it. It tasted like wood grilled meat, although I wasn’t sure what kind.
Someone approached me, and I looked up and saw Lyorna and Lizzie, about three hundred feet away. Lizzie was so excited and kept bouncing up and down, but I wanted to be alone.
I stood and padded away, and heard Lizzie following after me, despite Lyorna’s protests about how it was probably a bad idea to touch a wolf.
The Critura of the Snowdrift pack eventually managed to lead Lizzie away, and I decided to return the favor. I stalked them for about an hour before the wind changed, and Lyorna looked right at where I was in the shadows and giggled.
“Lena, what’s up?”
“Just thinking,”
I emerged and let Lizzie touch me, as she so clearly wanted, then I continued on my walk, laughing.
I lay in some sand and rolled around, when I tasted human on the air.
I went underwater, then rolled until my dark patches were on top, careful not to let out my oxygen. I occasionally craned my neck to poke my nose out, breathe out and in, and lower it again.
Something grabbed me, and I twisted, kicked, then swam to deeper waters. My feet couldn’t touch the ground in my human form, I doubted what grabbed me could. A fish passed by, and I resisted the temptation to eat it as I kicked to stay above water.
On the opposite shore, I saw several people, but I have pretty bad vision. But I recognized the scent of them and swam towards them.

Hi Laura! This is something I’ve always wanted to write for a long time now. This may come as quite a surprise but I really wanted to thank you for the all content you’ve made for Claire. It was only recently that my inspirations sparked again. I mentioned before how I wanted to write something that accompanies this, and this is the result. It’s short, but I hope its good enough.
[Let me go]
She didn’t know what to expect when he offered his hand to her. Perhaps he had always intended to join the waltzing fireflies.
She accepted, and he pulled her closer.
Morgen gently swayed and guided her with him. His steps were careful yet unwavering. Claire simply followed his lead. The only music that accompanied them was the rustle of the grass as they made their steps, and the buzzing of the crickets.
So they went on, dancing under the moonlight along with the fireflies. It was as if time never moved, and they danced for an eternity.
She wouldn’t mind if that meant being stuck forever with him. But even this dance must come to an end.
Morgen leaned closer and whispered on her ear, “Let go.”
Claire did as he said and took a step back. She wondered if he had grown tired.
But Morgen only shook his head, “No. Let me go.”
Claire did not understand.
Morgen took a step closer to her. “You have to let me go.”
She looked in his eyes. It was full of love and endearment. Yet his smile drew a picture of bitter farewells. A lump was stuck in her throat while her heart twisted painfully.
Morgen kissed her forehead. His lips imparted the warmth of a falling sunshine.
As she was about to see his face once more, he dissipated into a million fireflies. Claire reached out and called his name, “Morgen! Don’t go!”
She saw a firefly land at the back of her hand, and when it did, the little orb of light melted like snow.
And just like that, he was gone.
Claire took a sharp inhale, but the cold air burned her nostrils and she then breathed out slowly through her mouth. Her pants formed tiny mists, and slowly she was able to calm down.
Claire looked above her and took in the sight of darkened skies and falling snow. She stood up, then shook away the excess snow that had accumulated on her cloak. “What a nightmare.”
Claire walked away. Her steps accompanied the sound of crunching snow. “How dare you haunt me, even in my sleep.”

I shall barge into your ask box so that I can introduce my (feral) BC OC child, Claire Polaris. After I read Icree's feel on magic I think they could be friends. They are both technical in their approach.
Claire in her younger years may have hostility towards nobility (sorry Icree), but she calms down eventually... I promise. They can definitely get along right? Right? Icree can be the extrovert that adopts introvert Claire. Their possible friendship is even supported by the saying 'Float like a butterfly, sting like a firefly'.
Claire screaming at the back: "That's not how the saying goes!"
Welcome to the inbox, feel free to barge it! 🥰 Claire seems like a passionate person with a bit of growth ahead of them 😁
I think if Icree and her met, they could get along! One of Icree's strengths (and the reason she has so many friends) is adapting how she acts with different people. She wouldn't obviously go as far as Yami in your Light of Fireflies and fight, but she'd probably find a way to get Claire see that she doesn't mean any harm 😁 she is, however, really noble-like in the sense that because her family just got into the circles, Icree minds how she acts when other nobles are around, and that might piss of Claire, maybe? 😂
But I definitely think they could be friends!

NAME : joel joseph lovinger AGE : 44 GENDER : cis male HEIGHT : 5' ft 11" in / 180 cm HAIR : black & sprouting greys EYES : umber OCCUPATION : co-founder & ceo of polaris BIO : born to a comfortably upper-middle class family, joel lived an uneventful suburban life in markham, ontario. he was always intellectually curious, admiring inventors and people who knew how to make things work: those who could create something out of imagination, ingenuity, and spare parts. being socially outcast in his youth further lit a flame that fuelled his desire to prove himself. he pursued his education at the university of toronto where he completed a double major program that earned him a BBA in management & information technology and a BASc in computer engineering. he would take these degrees to stanford where he would earn an MSc in mechanical engineering with a focus on computational engineering. while at stanford he met his wife claire ( @textlinktrue ) , and the two would found polaris. what started as a small software project in the wee morning hours between waking up and preparing for classes, the two planted the seeds for their fledgling company that would one day grow to compete with companies like samsung, apple, and microsoft. as it grew so too did joel's greed and paranoia in his marriage. before their seeds bore billion dollar fruit, joel cut claire out of the picture. let the mid life crisis ensue.
