Little Arthurian AU conflict moment sneak peak with Daniel and Sam, feat. knight Jimmy
Sam yanked open the door to her father’s study, striding into the room before she’d even processed who it was she’d interrupted. She found herself facing Sir James, who was apparently in the middle of speaking with her father in front of his desk.
“Sir James,” she said with as much politeness as she could muster, which she feared wasn’t much, and gave him a nod.
“Sam,” the knight replied, still blinking at her in surprise.
“I’d like to have a moment to speak with my father, if you please.”
Sir James turned to look back to Daniel, confused but assessing, and her father gave a tilt of his head to indicate that the knight was dismissed. “Very well,” Sir James said after a moment, with a sigh of acceptance. “I’ll be up on the battlements checking on the rotation,” he added, looking between Sam and Daniel once more— “uh, should anyone have need of me.”
Stepping back, he bowed slightly to her father, then offered her a nod before making his retreat and (wisely) closing the door behind him.
Sam found herself now standing in front of her father’s desk, behind which he was still seated, looking up at her with wary concern.
“Well?” he asked, after a few moments had passed of her staring down at him.
Sam took a breath. Her mind had been whirring so loudly the entire walk across the castle that she hardly knew where to start.
“The Citymen are out of control.”
“Sam,” said her father, sighing, already lowering his head as if this singular statement had exhausted him.
“Don’t,” she warned, pointing down to him.
“This is not something that can just be fixed, Sam, you know that.” Daniel peered up at her, squinting. “I know it was painful, with Moon, but Carmen has been acquitted, and perhaps that’s a precedent we can—”
“Are you serious?” Sam asked, temper flaring already. She leaned forward, placing her gloved hands on the oak of his desk. “One of my best friends was arrested, trotted out before her peers, insulted, humiliated, exiled— And when they tried to do the same with Miguel’s mother, you only managed to argue for her release because she was so meticulously careful in her practice— And you want to tell me, what? There’s nothing you can do? So sad, Sam, that’s just how things are? A group of arrogant villains run the city, do as they please, harass our citizens, and despite you outranking them all, you’re powerless?”
Daniel studied her carefully for a moment. He at least had the decency to look somewhat regretful. “We’ve talked about this. I know you understand— There are laws—”
“Laws!” Sam laughed, straightening and rolling her head back sardonically. “You could’ve changed the law years ago!”
Her father’s mouth pinched. “I couldn’t’ve— I would never have had the Council votes, Sam.”
“Screw the Council!” Sam found herself yelling, hands tossed wide. “They’ve never once shown an ounce of respect for you, not ever— and I suppose they’ve never really had a reason to!”
Daniel sat back in his chair, looking a little winded. “And what is that supposed to mean?” he asked.
He could barely look her in the eye, perhaps anticipating the pain she was about to deal him. Once it might’ve made her feel guilty, unbearably guilty— Now it only made her angrier.
She swallowed, then tilted her chin up to look him in the eye. “It means all you’ve ever done in response to their disrespect is roll over and accept it.”
(The way a major plot point in this story ends up just being the executive vs municipal power struggle… Couldn’t help but include that bit of realism lmao. Also love having Sam struggle to understand her dad’s jadedness, being almost tempted to agree with every detractor who’s ever called him “weak” because she thinks he’s too afraid to actually pursue justice, when the reality is a lot more complicated.)

1: hi how are you?
2: the kingdom I once called my home has officially fallen today. It was a brittle kingdom, in the shadow of many great towers. The years were not kind to it so it has fallen now. And yet I morn my fellow citymen, even though our home was an ergot we had a bond that will last five lifetimes atleast. You: I think that's it, just around the bend I think I can see it, that gargoyle I have been seeing in my dreams, quite strange dreams, the ones with the farms in the court house. So that in 100 years time one will feel a strange attachment to another who they see walking just behind a hill, and never see again. But for now we all must go our separate ways and mourn alone, else our bond also fall...
1: you're room number is 241, you will find it furnished with all the necessary things. Chair, stool, bench, bed, frame, curtain, cage, wall, ceiling, switch, remote, Me: I don't understand why you are so fixated on this thing, sure it's strange that you saw it in a dream but its just a lump of stone at the end of the day, no more special then those skipping stones I collect. radio, refrigerator, desk, etagere, floorboard, and complementary WiFi. You'll find a plesent view overlooking the grand highway where I'm sure you'll spend your time autowatching.
You: you know how important this is for me, I just feel like I have a connection with it for some reason... I just need to see it in person atleast once. We don't have to come back here if you don't want, I know well you would rather be painting the classified ads like you always do when we find a newspaper.

Boston and Havana (The Cop Relationship)
Boston, is home to the Boston Mercantile Guild, a business network of Free British, protecting labor from exploitive practices, that harm common labor.
This was constructed by Puritan carpenters, on rum, and populated by Gaelic teddy bear mommies, playing cards.
We don't like you taking advantage of people; we invented the word 'nigger', for anyone speaking tersely, abrasively, and with stunted authority, for Africans to use, on the underground railroad, to get those individuals imbibing such language, to say 'nigger', the term used by a phage, someone with an ant in their ear, an 'ant lion' (actually a dermaphage, a fly's mound to breed dragonflies, an alien structure from the Middle East, planted by Qureshi, for Kampuchean Genomes to come here, to smoke cigarettes).
Havana, had a modest marijuana crop, and a lush tobacco crop, turning it into an international exchange city, under Columbus. The concept, of the theft of proprietary information, thus banned in Havana logic, all intellectual property being free, with patents protected by education, the Arowak standard of guideship and guardianship, gifted north, through sugar, mercantile workmen of African descent, Canadian Freemasonry, German Masonry from Arab times of the Crusades, rum and whiskey, cigarettes and cigars, marijuana grown in "Northern Fields", Canada, Cape Cod, and New Hampshire (plus tree surgeon's fields, for cops, the incentive to joining "the force", the police services), and of course, assassins, to remove anyone violating Boston standards, through governorships and political alliances, always standing against the Presidency; therefore leadership in war, through international textbook exchanges.
Cuba, meanwhile, was gifted the patents of labor, therefore the assumed intellectual property (considered false, in Boston logic, all properties open given money, particularly recipes, industrial machining, business techniques, academics, and media art), could never be made exclusive to government (a police unit technique for "metro-pol", a recruitment of a framed felon, kill-at-hunt under Boston cop code, through MI-6 undercovers from Canada, the British Commonwealth's border state through Chicago, New York, and Vermont).
The patent held, was Elmer's Glue, Chewing Tobacco, and Chicklet's Gum; elmer's being the plastic bottle, chewing tobacco being the habit itself, and chicklet's gum being the media reference to tobacco causing lung cancer instead of bowel cancer.
In fact, anyone can use the Elmer's Glue bottle, you need basic law school postgrad and common sense to know that. Chewing tobacco, is deadly, and is only shared, by "citymen", those cheating classes through lawsuit for grades or placement or revenge. Chicklet's Chewing Gum, contains "hatin", the Urdu word for "colblock", the prime ingredient in asbestos, burned glass shards from sand, the cause of cancer associated with cigarettes and bacon, to sell more, allegedly helping you quit, with psych wards and hypnotists.

Here's some angst. What do you think Daemon would do if witch targaryen was killed in battle. Basically there in the middle of a war Daemon is obviously one of the main commanders/warriors on the battlefield. She insists on going with him as a medic/healer for their men. While she's helping soldiers who are injured in the middle of battle maybe she gets hit by a stray arrow. Doesn't notice cause of adrenaline, doesn't tell anyone and just collapses at the end. But they won cause she helped them.
AN: Hi, I hope you like it x
Requests are closed
“Daemon, I’m coming with you.” You locked eyes with your husband and had your arms crossed. There weren't many times Daemon didn’t allow you anything; but your safety was always his concern and worry. He knew you could look after yourself but he adored you more than life itself; he couldn’t allow anything to happen to you.
“You can’t.” The Prince mumbled to himself as his baby girl burrowed into his neck. Your daughter cuddled him sleepily. Daemon softened for her as his fingers moved over the babe’s head. “Nothing will go wrong.” You whispered sweetly to him as you moved closer to the pair. “I promise.”
You pressed a soft kiss to your daughter’s head before gently removing her from Daemon’s hold. She still slept soundly as you gently rocked her. “You wouldn’t want me to just sneak in, would you?” You couldn’t help but tease. “I guess not.” Daemon rolled his eyes before leaning in to lovingly capture your lips. Your fingers reached for your daughters as she grabbed onto them. “We’ll be fine.” You whispered to him. Deep down you weren’t sure you believed it; as soon as you woke up today, you felt worried. A deep sense of foreboding. Not that you shared this with Daemon as you cuddled your baby closer.
You pressed another kiss to her head before settling her down; the nurses would soon be looking after her. Your hand reached for Daemon as he rested his head on your shoulder for a moment. Your fingers moved into his hair as his mouth watering scent moved over you. It was just what you needed. Your hold tightened on him for a moment longer before you leaned away. “We should get ready.” You whispered to him. Daemon wanted to keep this moment for longer as he rested his head on your own now. A soft smile came over his face before he pressed a soft, loving kiss to your lips. “What would I do without you?” He whispered.
“You won’t ever have to find out.” You hummed, gently cupping his face as you leaned in and lovingly captured his lips.
~
The roar of the dragons was up ahead as you looked up. Fire burning everywhere you could possibly see. “You should go to safety.” One of the loyal citymen of her husband’s watch whispered into her ear. “It’ll be okay.” You looked up at him; still not believing yourself as a sharp cry interrupted you both. Fear ripped through you; each cry you had heard so far you believed it was Daemon and you hated the relief that flooded you when you realised it wasn’t. “I’ll go.” You whispered to the guard. “Princess…” He called after you but it was too late. You had made up your mind and soon your feet moved you onto the battlefield.
Your eyes moved through the skies once more as you tried to see Daemon. Your hand was already reaching for the unnamed soldier who had fallen. “Come on.” You softly whispered whilst moving to help him stand. His eyes were wide as he saw you and he gently rested into your side. As you moved over the stones and bodies; you didn’t notice the arrow flying your way. Nobody did. Not even when it pierced you in the stomach and you softly gasped. Your hand moving down before it was painted in your own blood. “Go on.” You softly pushed the man whilst ripping the arrowhead from you.
You would be fine, you thought to yourself as you stumbled behind the guard towards the shelter. It seemed the fighting was slowly coming to a stop as the dragons ahead seemingly slowly down their flying. You still looked for Daemon as you rested against the stone wall. Your hand is still on your stomach. “I think it’ll be over soon.” One of the guards muttered and you prayed he was right. You could feel your energy slowly moving from you as you waited to see your handsome husband come from the fire and ashes. No matter the slight pain moving through you; your smile only brightened when he returned.
There was blood covering him too; but you knew it didn’t belong to him. You watched lovingly as the men clapped their hands on his back. Those violet eyes of his quickly found you and he stepped closer. “I’m glad you are safe.” You whispered into his ear as his arms had you in a tight embrace. Daemon’s soft hands moved up and down your back before he peppered your face with soft, sweet kisses. You giggled and burrowed into his neck for a moment. Your eyes flutter sleepily as you steadied yourself. You were glad the adrenaline coursing through your husband kept him distracted.
Your hand subtly moved back to your wound as a soft flash of pain moved over your face. Maybe you should lie down, you thought to yourself as drinks began to move around the people in the room. A sense of celebration bubbled around them as you tried to focus; your sight blurring with each passing moment. Your hand moved to help steady yourself on the wall and you couldn’t help but smile at the laughter coming from Daemon. It was the most beautiful sound to you. You were glad it was the last one you heard as the floor moved closer to you. You were gone before you could even break your fall.
“Y/N..” The Prince called out; the sight of you falling caught his eye as he moved easily to you. His arms reached just in time as he knelt beside you. His fingers gently move through your locks to see your face. “Get a maester.” He ordered his men who quickly began to move and follow Daemon’s ask.
“Please..wake up.” He whispered into your ear as he brushed your locks from your face. His eyes moved over your body to try and find the cause and a soft near whimper fell from his lips once he saw the wound. His larger hand moved over your own covered one and touched you. The no reaction you gave broke his heart.
Gods, he couldn’t lose you, Daemon thought to himself as he hid into your neck. He shouldn’t have allowed you to come. The blame was quickly moving through him now as he realised he was too late. You were already gone. What was he going to tell the children? How was he supposed to live without you? Those thoughts raced through his mind as he slowly moved from you. The maester took his spot as he began to check you over but it quickly became apparent that there was nothing to be done. Your pool of blood only became bigger and Daemon could only watch as he lost the love of his life.
“I’m sorry, my Prince. She’s gone.” The Maester gently announced as he looked to the mourning dragon who hardly heard his words. No, you weren’t gone. How could you be? He felt like he couldn’t breathe. Daemon slowly moved to stand; using the wall to steady himself just as you had done only moments prior. Silently, he moved to ever so gently pick you up. The guards moved out of his way as they bowed in sombre mourning. He kept you close as he heard the whines of Caraxes from outside. They echoed his own sadness as he moved into their..his bedchambers now. The cold air moving over him matched his mood.
~
The years that followed never healed Daemon from your loss. The guilt and shame he had for allowing you to die never truly left him even as his children tried to help him through it. Nothing worked. Only you would have been able to drag him through this never ending mourning process he was in.
His desire for war only grew with the whispers behind his back believing Daemon wanted to reunite with you.
It had been a passionate love you both had shared but like all fires; it does burn out, eventually. The storybooks of the time would remember you both fondly and with it; you would never truly be gone.

PAC Notebook - Bethany Falls in Softball Finale
Tumblr media
Bethany gave it a spirited run in the PAC softball tournament, but in the end, the Bison succumbed to the same issue that befell all other PAC teams this season—trying to figure out Geneva pitcher Haley Smith. In two tournament games, Smith pitched 12 shutout innings, allowing two hits in a 9-0 win against Grove City, then five in a 3-0 victory against Bethany. The No. 3 seed, Bethany first had to get past No. 2 Westminster, a team the Bison failed to beat in four tries during the regular season. After the first loss to Gevena on Saturday, Bethany against had to best the Titans for another crack at the Golden Tornado. It became a pitchers’ duel between Bethany freshman Josie Wise and Westminster tandem Madison Brown and Abbegail Froehlich. Only a throwing error allowed pinch-runner Ally McCell to score in the second inning from third. She came on to run for Alex Kopec, who led off the inning with a single. McCell’s run came with two outs. That proved to be all that Bethany needed as Wise scattered four hits, adding two strikeouts and receiving a solid effort behind her to preserve the shutout. That set up a rematch with Geneva and, if Bethany wanted to win the title, it needed two wins in a row against the Tornado. Geneva saved Smith for a potential second game and opted to throw Nicole West, no slouch in her own right with a 16-2 record. The Bison elected to dance with the arm that brought them and trotted out Wise for her fourth game in three days. She battled, but allowed four runs (three earned)on six hits with four strikeouts. West, meanwhile, allowed five hits and two runs. Marina Manuppelli’s two-run double in the fourth inning proved the difference maker as Bethany cut it to 3-2 but couldn’t bring the tally even. The Tornado won their first PAC title since 2012. Smith was honored with a well-earned Most Outstanding Player for the tournament. Bethany’s Wise, along with outfielder Paige Allen and catcher Jen Oberthur were named to the all-tournament team. The loss was a disappointing end to an otherwise great season for the Bison. The last time Bethany played a full season in 2019, it finished 10-22 and just 6-9 in the PAC. It’s last game that season was a 21-1 whitewashing at the hands of eventual champion St. Vincent. Finishing runner-up and more than doubling its win total from 2019 has the program back on the upswing in head coach Cassie Moore’s third season.
Barons Place Three on First Team
Franciscan placed three players on the first team when the PAC released its call conference team for women’s lacrosse. Seniors Madeline Smith and Maureen Cain were joined by junior Grace Deegan in earning first team honors. Only conference champion Washington & Jefferson, with its six honorees found more of its players on the first unit. Barons’ senior Maria Hilkert was named second team, along with Bethany’s Rikiah Wise. The Bison’s Cassidy Mailloux was named honorable mention. BC’s Sarah Sberna and FUS’ Drane Perpepaj were named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team. Sberna is a junior and John Marshall graduate. No. 1 W&J defeated Thiel in the PAC finale after knocking off No.4 seed Franciscan in the semifinal round, 17-12.
Baseball Tournament Begins Thursday
Today’s final day of competition was cancelled across the conference, so while the regular season ends, the conference tournament is ready to kick off. It will be the final athletic events of the season for the PAC and only the top four teams in the standings are invited to the party. Top Seed and one-loss Washington & Jefferson is the odds-on favorite to repeat as champions and claim its fifth crown since 2013. The only team to beat the Presidents this season, a 4-3 loss to Chatham, won’t make the field. The main challenger is No. 2 seed is grove city, the only other PAC team with an above .500 record. Franciscan, meanwhile, will snag the third seed in its first season of PAC play, with Saint Vincent edging Bethany for the fourth and final seed. The Barons are led by junior third baseman Josh Costello, a former Steubenville Catholic Crusader and the No. 4 hitter in the PAC with a .426 average. Costello is also second in RBI with 41.
Weekly Conference Honors
The following athletes were honored last week by the PAC as the top performer and rookie in their respective sports: Players of the WeekRookies of the WeekMen’s Lacrosse Offensive/Defensive: Pat Hartnett, Thiel; Grant Evans, Grove CityMen’s Lacrosse: Tyler Britton, BethanyBaseball Hitter/Pitcher: Logan Scheider, W&J; Jacob Watson, FranciscanBaseball: Roman Sanson, W&JSoftball Hitter/Pitcher: Sarah Johnson, Geneva; Nicole West, GenevaSoftball: Mackenzie Dunn, Chatham Note: The PAC Notebook is a weekly rundown of some of the top news and notes from around the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
