Samantha Ruth Prabhu fans are ecstatic as her much-anticipated series Citadel: Honey Bunny approaches release. The actress, who plays the dangerous spy Honey, shot the series over a long period of time while also receiving treatment for her autoimmune illness, myositis. Given that the actress had to do difficult stunt sequences for this stylish spy actioner, Samantha sustained a few injuries, including a significant concussion in which she experienced momentary memory loss.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu recounted the incident in an interview with Galatta Plus, adding, "I had a concussion and I forgot the names after that." I completely blanked out. That was quite something. Now that I think about it, no one took me to the hospital. Nobody questioned me." Meanwhile, giving their account of what happened on set, the series' writer Sita Menon remarked, "We were on a call with a doctor." While Samantha was surprised by the notion of medical assistance, she inquired, "Which doctor?" Menon replied, "You don't remember because you were concussed."

She went on to say, "During my concussion, I recall hearing that we only had a day on set and needed to finish the film. So during my concussion, I was like, "I am coming, people." Then I remember the stuntman was in front of me, and I was like, 'What am I doing?' And they were like, 'Okay, cut, not happening.'"

Samantha also stated that she was so weary after the incident that she didn't want to shoot the series at all. The actress admitted to being pushy with the directors about replacing her, even begging them. "I begged them to let go because I didn't think I could do it. "I was pretty sure I couldn't," she remarked. She didn't even stop herself from throwing out suggestions for other actresses who could replace her on the show. "I sent other recommendations, like, 'Look at this woman; she is fantastic. She'll kill it. I beg you, I cannot do this. I sent them about four possibilities. I wasn't feeling great," she continued.

However, after watching the entire series, the actress expressed gratitude to the producers for not replacing her. "Now, as I see this show, I am grateful that they did not make it without me and that I found the strength to accomplish it. Even before the outcome of this program is determined, I am going to reward myself for perseverance," she stated.

Meanwhile Varun Dhawan also dropped a truth bomb wherein he mentioned that many of them ‘did not want Samantha to do this show’, but the actor refrained from taking any names.

Citadel, a spy thriller set in the early 1990s, brings Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu together for the first time on film. The show is a spin-off of the American series Citadel, and we meet Nadia Sinh, who is expected to be Honey - Bunny's daughter. The show will air on Amazon Prime Video on November 7.

Citadel vs Citadel Honey Bunny

What I find the most interesting part of Citadel is that it is essentially a love story. Now I wasn't deep in the trenches when it was being promoted so I don't know if that aspect was coming up or not. I do find it weird though that in the actual show the romantic angle was downplayed even though everything that has happened is because a man misses his lover.

While the promotion for Citadel Honey Bunny has been making it very clear that this is also a love story. Sita Menon, the developer, called it a love story. Varun Dhawan called it a love story in one of his recent Instagram posts for it. A couple of online magazine articles will describe it as "a riveting narrative that fuses the pulse-pounding elements of a gritty spy action thriller with the heartwarming allure of a love story, all set against the vibrant tapestry of the 90s". The first look at Citadel Honey Bunny had them holding hands while fighting a couple of bad guys. And now, in the most recent teaser, we see a possible evolution of Sam and Varun's relationship, from loving and affectionate to distrust and hostility.

That's a an interesting aspect to look at for a spy thriller.
