These are overlays for our folders to allow for greater customizability. You can put these over any of our new folders and thus have folders that better match your AAC.

To do so, you need to download the folder symbol you want and open it in an image editing software that has layers and transparency. Open the symbol in the editor, and then download the colour of folder overlay that you want. Make sure you choose either the thick or thin version, depending on which one fits the symbol you have. Open the folder overlay in the editing software and place the layer for it above the layer for the basic symbol.

From there, save it as a PNG, and it should be done. Because the canvas size for these overlays is the same as the canvas size for our folders, you should not need to move anything around to make it match.

Here are some examples of overlays used with some of our folders.

Mutism/Nonspeaking Awareness Flag

I, like many others, suffer from mutism due to a physical disability. Every flag I've seen for the nonspeaking and nonverbal community is based in autism and related issues, without representation for those of us who are nonspeaking for reasons such as being a cancer survivor, schizophrenia, muscle tension dysphonia, spasmodic dysphonia, aphrasia, brain damage, etc. and related conditions. There are a large variety of conditions that I rarely see representation for, and this flag is for us.

The white stripes represents hope for a more accepting future for nonspeaking and mute people.

The purple stripes represents entirely nonspeaking people.

The blue stripes represents AAC and sign language users.

The green stripes represents people with fluctuating levels of verbality.

The yellow stripe represents community and the way we have each other's backs in this struggle.

The symbol is a vague representation of the lack of a voice. I couldn't decide which one looked better so feel free to use either.

Color meaning : orange is for communication. Pink is for the love and respect aac users have for each other. White is for unity. Lighter blue is for high tech aac users. medium blue is for low tech aac users. Darker blue is for no tech aac users.

This flag is VERY self indulgent, as when I was first discovering myself it felt like I had to either choose between being religious or being queer.

I am worried that with my combination of an almost total flat affect, inability to speak, and speech mannerisms, that I come off as rude to those outside of my system. Most of our other fronters are very animated when speaking and many of them use a lot of slang. I am not and do not. This is something that I am incapable of masking, online or offline. Nobody has asked us about it, so I am hoping that people are not believing us to be rude due to it, but I am well aware that people do not exactly see it as polite to point things like this out.

I really must wonder why our front decided that it absolutely must have me, an alter who is more easily overwhelmed than the others and takes longer to complete tasks and hobbies, during finals season.
