Me: Wow, Cinematherapy is a nice wholesome channel to watch. It's nice to watch a video shorter than three hours dissecting a movie, and to do it with two very nice, wholesome guys who promote honesty, open communication, and being kind. Tumblr: Cinematherapy is BAD and you should feel BAD about watching them!!! They are AWFUL, NEVER WATCH THEM. Me: 🥲

i'm watching a playlist I have of my comfort videos and sewing some patches, and I feel so much better <33
I love being able to go back and scan through what older me appreciated. they perfectly articulate so many of the thoughts I've had. (shocker, I had them saved for a reason). It's so funny though, how so many of the concerns I was having before are echoed by the concerns I have today.

Therapist Reacts to LILO & STITCH with guest Rebecca Parham
Cinema Therapy What does your chosen family look like? Do you resonate with Lilo? Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker, filmmaker Alan Seawright, and guest Rebecca Parham of @LetMeExplainStudios are reacting to the beloved Lilo and Stitch. Have you watched Cinematherapy? I feel like their videos would be up your alley.
YES!
They're so cool and wholesome! I love both layers of analysis, the psychology/therapy layer and the cinematography layer.

Today, my family and I watched Inside Out 2. I feel emotionally broken, and the movie NEEDS a trigger warning because crap on a cracker that hurt.

It doesn't matter if Mike admitted to or believed he didn't need those sleeping medications. The audience of the fnaf film is too young for the movie to depict a cop being In The Right for illegally disposing of and confiscating a man's prescription meds.
It does not matter if he was "self harming" or if it was "for his own good." This was not a responsible thing to show a varied audience without criticizing or allowing nuance in the situation.

Gentian is honestly... pretty damn self-destructive. Not in any way that he can really help, what with being on the spectrum, tending towards obsessiveness with projects, and the acquired brain injury issues, but his single-minded focus to the exclusion of all else is genuinely going to cause another breakdown one day. Endwalker really did mess him up in a way that he's not really dealt with just yet. At least now that he's retired from the adventuring life the inevitable collapse of his mental health can happen somewhere safe.
Ven's kind of toxically positive sometimes. He knows he was literally made to be the light of hope for the entire star, that he's destined to meet Venat and lead to the birth of Hydaelyn, that the Final Days hinge entirely on him not dying. And that. That fucks a person up. He thinks he has to be On and Happy all the time, and while he genuinely is happy most of the time and his curiosity and love for the world is real, faking it when he's not isn't healthy. Losing Haurchefant really didn't help, because he was basically the only person who it felt like it was safe to be tired and grumpy and sad with. Endwalker is gonna lead directly into confronting this with the help of the Scions, but actually getting past it is gonna involve some hard work. At least Ven has a mindset that's actually open to therapy.

Does your wol(oc) have any self destructive traits?

Why are the Writers and Actors on Strike, and what YOU can do.
Cinema Therapy We interviewed writers, actors, and stunt performers about the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. They shared why the strike matters to union workers, who are average workers who just want to earn a living wage. We talk about the emotional and financial toll of working in an industry that has become increasingly unstable and underpaid for artists, and the impact the strike is having on…
