A sight too often seen in New York: a non-profit building being razed to make way for another office building, September 16, 1949. The 77-year old St. Nicholas Church, of the city's Collegiate Dutch Reformed denomination, was at Fifth Avenue and 48th St.

Ghost Priest of St. Nicholas Church
Not a lot is known about this photo showing a semi-transparent figure at the altar of the Saint Nicholas Church, Arundel, England. The photo was taken in the 1940s and is believed to have captured the image of a priest in robes, possibly at prayer.
However what is known is that the church does have a few resident spooks including that of a priest who is believed to have killed a local squire (the church was built in the 1300s and the town is overlooked by a castle).
Other ghosts include that of a lady in brown who is seen in the motion of cleaning but disappears when people get too close. She is thought to have been completely devoted to the church and continues her duties even after her death in 1907.
As for the picture it certainly looks like a priestly figure in robes, hands possibly placed on the altar with the head bowed.

In the Liturgical Calendar, today is the Feast of St Nicholas. St Nicholas (Naomh Nioclás) is believed to have been buried in Newtown Jerpoint in Kilkenny some 800 years ago.
According to local Irish legend, St Nicholas is buried in Co Kilkenny. The grave is said to be in the ruined Church of St Nicholas, Jerpoint. The church is all that remains of the medieval village, Newtown Jerpoint, that fell to ruin by the 17th century. The village was surrounded by the Cistercian Jerpoint Abbey, founded in 1183. Located on 1,880 acres, the abbey had its own gardens, watermills,…

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.
The icon of St Nicholas will become a beautiful home decor or a great gift for any believer. This is one of the most venerated saints in the whole Christian world – his mercy, generosity, and kindness are enough to help all the needy, sick, and suffering. You can pray in the presence of his image when you need heavenly protection from temptations and evil.

Saint Nicholas is a patron of children, merchants, innocently convicted, unmarried girls, and sailors. He helps to reconcile with loved ones, heals from sicknesses and addictions, helps to find family happiness and to raise healthy children.

The Leipzig "lighthouse"
St Thomas' Church in Leipzig - together with St Nicholas' Church - is one of the city's two main churches and is known worldwide as the place where Johann Sebastian Bach and the St Thomas Choir worked. The three-nave hall church has a total length of 76 metres. The nave is 50 metres long, 25 metres wide and 18 metres high. The choir is angled slightly to the north towards the nave. The roof has an unusually steep pitch of 63°, making it one of the steepest gabled roofs in Germany. Inside, it has seven levels (ridge height 45 metres). The ceiling of the nave consists of a colour-contrasting ribbed vault.
