Chuggington Headcanon: The Depot Renovation and The Chuggineer's Introduction
Tumblr media
So Chuggington fans know that in the fourth season, we see that The Main Depot gets a massive update to accommodate for Chug Patrol Headquarters and The Working Wheels Service Yard. This headcanon will explain this sudden change.
So as we know from the first three seasons, Calley was Chuggington's emergency chugger, dealing with accidents, breakdowns, fires, and even transporting injured people to hospital, as rail is Chuggington's primary form of transport, and road vehicles have not been comfirmed to be canon. However, having only one rescue chugger often proved to be quite stressful, inefficient, and inconvenient, which has been shown on a few occasions in the show.
Near the end of the third season, it was eventually decided by both Vee and The Department of Chuggers that Chuggington's rescue service needed upgrading. However, they did not yet have an official plan, nor where many rescue engines available, so they set up a 'trial method'.
Skylar had rescue training expierence, so Vee decided he could form a team alongside Calley and recruit the trainees, but first, they would need extra training with cars rescue chuggers used.
In his introduction episode, "Brewster's Crane Training," they practice crane control.
Then in "Wobbly Wheels," they learn how to use the Chug Catcher (a sand trap used to stop runaways on the mountain tracks)
In "Top Secret Koko," both Skylar and Calley teach the trainees how to 'piggy-back' wagons (flatbeds used for carrying chuggers)
And finally, the episode "Skylar's Squad," where the trainees get full-on rescue training with Skylar's own set of rescue cars, and the trainees who do the best will be recruited, which ends up being Hoot and Toot.
This, of course, was short lived however, after Chug Patrol, a modern, state of the art rescue squad was made known to Chuggington, and after investments where made, Chuggington would get their own Chug Patrollers and headquarters in The Depot.
To do that however, space would need to be made. At this same time, Vee decided the Fuel Yard also needed upgrading, to accommodate more chuggers for refueling and washing and improve efficiency, which is how The Working Wheels Service Yard came to be.
A lot of work needed to be done, and thus, the renovation began...
Tumblr media
Construction started some time after the third season's events. The cafe half of the Colored Tunnels had to be removed to accommodate for Chug Patrol HQ. It had been years since many people where last there so no one was particularly bothered by this. The Rolling Stock Yard was taken down in order for the Working Wheels Yard to be built, however, it was later rebuilt further back outside of the depot. The area for the Fuel Yard was too small to become the Working Wheels Yard, so it was left alone. They would need it for storing materials and rolling stock out of the way anyway.
Vee put Dunbar, Speedy and Skylar in charge of handling the construction work, as they were the current chuggers best suited for the job. Several tracks in front of the Colored Tunnels had to be rearranged, which was handled by Hodge and Eddie, the latter also handling traffic control due to the construction. Calley also assisted by shunting various rolling stock and materials. It was long, dusty work and project took several months (basically the gap between the third and fourth season's airdates in the UK)
As for the other chuggers, they carried on with all the other work. The trainees - except Piper - also had to pitch in to cover for the chuggers busy with the construction, so training was put completely on hold for them until further notice. Despite this however, problems soon arose...
Tumblr media
With several lines under unavailable, and cars of building materials blocking the way, chuggers had to be guided around them to get out of the depot. Trains were delayed, passengers complained, and the backlog of traffic started to cause a slowdown in construction, as sometimes, Calley had to clear a way herself to let trains through. Sometimes, chuggers were even re-routed onto Emery's line on the elevated tracks in order to get their trains out of the depot, which held him and his passengers up too!
Tumblr media
Poor Vee was now very frazzled. All this 'confusion and delay' made it quite clear to her that having three of four of her working chuggers taken away from their other work and only one chugger to keep the tracks clear wouldn't be enough. If this project was ever going to get done, she needed to call in professional help...
And now, three special new chuggers come onto the scene, and we know who they are...
Tumblr media
Fletch, Tyne, and Zack, and they are The Chuggineers!
The Chuggineers are a team of chuggers from Tootington specialized in construction and engineering, in which Zack, Fletch and Tyne were originally part of. Vee got in contact with the manager of Tootington's railway to see if they could lend some of their Chuggineers. Zack, Fletch and Tyne were choosen - and instead of being loned, The manager sold them to Vee, as well as a full set of Chuggineer wagons - Vee was delighted!
Tumblr media
So a few days later after they were purchased, Zack and the Chuggineers arrived and set right to work. Things turned around remarkably. As they and their wagons were specialized in this kind of work, The Chuggineers proved much more efficient. Construction of Chug Patrol HQ started to pick up speed again, The Depot started to become less overcrowded with cars, and the other chuggers where able to get back on schedule. Dunbar and Calley still helped with shunting for the project, and sometimes Brewster as well, while Speedy went back up to the quarry, which was to start its expansion soon, but that's another story.
Tumblr media
A couple weeks later, Jackman, the soon-to-be chief of Chug Patrol arrived and assisted in finishing CPHQ, as mentioned previously in my headcanon for him. They were soon able to finish work on The Working Wheels Yard. That's when Cormac, the forklift chugger arrived, but again, that's another story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At long last, the project was finished, Calley went into The Repair Shed for an overhaul, where she was repainted and refitted into her Chug Patrol gear and attire, which she bears to this day, while Zack, Fletch and Tyne and made fast friends with the other chuggers, and were proud to call Chuggington their home.

Chuggington Speed Fleet headcanons
*sighs* the speed fleet...my least favorite chuggington team. The team doesn’t feel as connected or interesting unlike the other teams. We have never seen all four of the speed fleet members work together, how are they even a team at all? I have so many complaints I’d like to list for the team, but that’s not what this list is about. This list is about headcanons that can hopefully give them much-needed substance.
Hanzo was quite different back when he was new to Chuggington. He experienced a great wave of culture shock due to how different Chuggington is from his homeland. As a newbie to Chuggington Railway, Hanzo was initially a bit shy and quiet. His aura was certainly less welcoming due to his initial stoic nature. He’ll only speak when necessary, which worries Vee since he accepted her offer to be the leader of the Speed Fleet. Since Daley is in Chuggington longer than Hanzo (approx:2-3 months prior), Vee enlists Daley to be on the team not just for his efficiency as a delivery courier-it’s to help Hanzo adjust to Chuggington.
Daley on the other hand, had an easier time adapting to Chuggington due to how similar Tootington is to his new homeland. His outgoing personality is certainly helpful for him asking for help and directions.
Overtime, Hanzo and Daley became close friends due to working closely together to form the Speed Fleet. Despite there being some rocks on the start of the tracks, they gradually grew to understand and uplift each other in many ways, even outside their respective jobs. Daley helped Hanzo become more open to others while Hanzo helped Daley be less arrogant and be more humble.
The Speed Fleet certainly does races for fun. To mix things up, they’ll sometimes have races in different locations outside of Chuggington. Heck, they’ll also race with other chuggers that are local to the area.
When the team wants to have races at night, they’ll simply equip themselves with stylish, fancy lights from the repair shed so that not only they could see better at night-it’s to also make the races look good visually.
Every year, Chuggington’s country (idk what nation Chuggington is in specifically) will host the Grand Yellow Comet Race. Many chuggers representing their respective towns would travel to the nation’s capitol to race around the nation’s famous cities/towns/locations ect. for a grand prize for their railway. The speed fleet would often try to plan in advance so that all four of them could watch the race on TV. The team members would usually place bets on possible winners on their duties.
Sometimes on Friday nights, the team will have board game nights. They’ll usually play board games somewhere outside of the Depot so that they won’t disturb anyone. Most of the time, Hanzo comes out as victor at the end of each games.
Some Saturday nights are for karaoke nights. Payce’s karaoke wagon is used for this night and the location is at an old roundhouse in old chuggington (far enough to not disturb sleeping chuggers at the depot). Payce loves to sing as is considered to be the most talented out of her team members.
The list below are who is closer to the other:
Hanzo and Daley are the closest to each other. They are even considered to be like brothers from many.
Koko is the closest to Hanzo.
Payce is the closest to Daley. These two are best friends that have dated each other at some point. After realizing they are better off just friends, both mutually ended the romantic relationship between them.
Whew-this took me quite a while! The Speed Fleet is the chuggington team I perhaps have the most trouble coming up with hcs for. I hope these are to your liking! :D

Why My Tablet Is Named “Chuggington Depot Dispatch Tower,” or That Time I Wanted To Date A Human On A Train Show
This is something I apparently haven’t lived down for seven years now because people still associate me with the show, which is very much a property aimed at preschoolers. I have no children.
Anyhow, if you peruse my Tumblr archives, you might notice a frequently used tag is ‘stupid train show.’ The show in question is Chuggington, a talking train show for the preschool set - more or less a more utopian version of Thomas and Friends, where the trains are actually nice to each other for the most part and society has maintained steam, diesel, and electric locomotives who work in harmony together. Overall, it’s a cute, harmless show for little kids. I grew up watching the much more violent Thomas and Friends/Shining Time Station when I was younger, so Chuggington felt weirdly benign to me when I found it.
I found it because in January 2014 I was in grad school and up at 1 am doing readings for my library science degree. I adore Buster Keaton - we both like trains, baseball, and comedy - and so when I was flipping through the channels trying to find background noise Chuggington caught my eye because I thought I could make a few Keaton references to myself to amuse myself. Instead I was greeted with an adorable episode of two trains going human-spotting (if humans who go train-spotting are derisively referred to as ‘foamers’ or ‘anoraks,’ what’s the derogatory term for a train that goes human-spotting?). Cute, very cute. Shouldn’t become a fixation or anything. Right?
Unfortunately for me, there was Eddie.
Tumblr media
Now, as I mentioned above, I was in grad school at the time this happened. I was very lonely at the time - if I got to see my friends once a month, I was happy. I was in class during the week and working as a historical tour guide on the weekends. I wasn’t getting to see other people very often, so I was a bit contact-starved. I was more or less primed to have yet another crush on a fictional character despite turning 25 later that year. It also didn’t help that the fictional character in question looked a lot like my first actual crush, a kid I worked at a history camp with in high school who did Revolutionary War reenacting. (I never saw him in non-historical clothing. This is probably why I crushed so hard.)
So I’m sitting there at 1 am, tired from a long day of grad school and commuting, and this guy who looks like an adult version of a boy I liked when I was younger shows up on a talking train show. I instantly need to know more. I proceeded to stay up until at least 3 am because it turned out Chuggington had a wiki, and I did a drawing of Eddie to get it out of my system. I presumed I’d be moving along now that I’d dealt with it.
I did not move along. I watched every available episode of the show.
I liveblogged this experience on this very blog, often using the tag ‘goddamnit Eddie’ to express my frustration over the fact that I had come across a person with the traits I usually look for in a significant other and he was fictional. Again. But this was a kind young man who approached engineering problems around him with enthusiasm and delighted in little discoveries like old popcorn wagons and busted electric guitars, and he had patience with the characters around him who were still learning and growing (remember, this is a preschool show). As an autistic woman I’m attracted to patience, to say the least. I don’t really know any men like him in real life, and if I did I’d be...well, interested.
Tumblr media
Anyhow, I had a brief period of notoriety amongst my friends on this website because I went really hard. I watched every available episode of every available season of a train show for preschoolers in the span of a month and a half or so. I am, to this day, the blog that mentions Chuggington the most on this website. People still associate me with the show. I still get asks about the show from time to time in my inbox. Eddie is still everyone’s answer to “ship me with a fictional character” memes if I reblog any. I cannot escape this.
And at this point in my life, I’m not sure I want to. It wasn’t hurting anyone, and it was bringing me a lot of enjoyment during a fairly stressful period in my life (grad school is exhausting, let me be honest). Sure, we all look back at things we did and enjoyed when we were younger and sometimes we cringe at ourselves, but ultimately, if we were having fun and weren’t hurting anyone with it, was it really that terrible? And maybe we learned from what we were enjoying - some new information, some new skills, or maybe how to treat people better as we developed social skills and a better understanding of other people through our fandom interactions. Is it really cringe if we grew during and from it and had a good time?

Mighty Express, aka I Survived Another Preschool Train Show
I have a reputation for masochistically subjecting myself to train shows aimed at preschoolers. I grew up with Thomas and Friends as a child, and then in grad school - the year I turned 25 - I proceeded to embarrass myself by realizing a human from Chuggington named Eddie was everything I look for in a potential boyfriend. I’ve always loved watching and collecting horrible children’s television and the Chuggington Incident brought me back into that hobby, hence this blog. Anyhow, due to the Chuggington Incident I developed my reputation for watching the weird preschool train shows so other people didn’t have to, and Mighty Express is the latest of those, so here we go.
Tumblr media
The first thing you need to know about Mighty Express is that it was made by the same people who made Paw Patrol. That more or less tells you what to expect going in on this one. It’s basically Paw Patrol with trains. There are ten episodes on Netflix right now, and apparently a holiday special is dropping later this year that I unfortunately will also likely make myself watch. (Whatever, it won’t be as bad as Rapsittie Street Kids.) It’s your typical train show on the surface - sentient vehicles with their own personalities doing specialized jobs and occasionally getting help from each other and the humans around them in the vicinity of a town called Tracksville. It also operates like Paw Patrol in that there’s a sort of central command the trains report to which is run by a team of three humans - the leader, a mechanic, and a dispatcher/tech expert.
There’s something very jarring about this universe, though. There are no adults anywhere.
I mean that completely seriously. You don’t see a single adult in any episode of this show. In the original preschool train show, Thomas and Friends, you see people from all walks of life, although you don’t get to know them very well besides Sir Topham Hatt/The Fat Controller. In Chuggington, you do get to know the human citizens of the city better, and some of them play very important roles in the depot, namely ‘train doctors’ Morgan and Lori and maintenance of way master Eddie (aka my boyfriend shhhhh). In Mighty Express, all business is handled by literal children - they run the local farm, the foundry, the port, etc. and serve in jobs like park ranger and lifeguard. This would be significantly less of a problem if they didn’t also show the children attending school during the day - no one is teaching them, and no one is doing their jobs in their absence. It just doesn’t work on any level. I know you have to suspend disbelief for these shows, considering they involve talking sentient trains, but this...no.
The one highlight is that one of these children, Jubilee, is disabled and uses a motorized wheelchair. This is completely normalized. You don’t see too much disability representation on these sorts of shows so it was nice to see her being seen as perfectly competent and nobody doubting her because of her mobility device. I’m a disability rights and neurodiversity advocate in real life so that was refreshing, but that was literally the only bright spot for me besides a cutely animated bat in one of the episodes.
The rest? Well, it’s...it is what it is. You have trains making obvious mistakes that characters on preschool shows normally make so kids can learn, complete with the usual violations of rail safety and logic (including an episode where popcorn is carried in an open goods car/truck instead of in a sealed hopper car and inevitably flies out). The fact that no adult humans are present in Tracksville - and according to the show’s blurb on Wikipedia, have never existed there - is just so, so unnerving. Do these children have to leave when they grow up? Are they physically incapable of aging, like in Neverland? What is going on in this universe? It’s horrifying.
Anyway, I’m scared.

Chuggington Headcanon: Jackman's Origin
Tumblr media
Jackman was built and lived in a far away country named Ironland - The Chuggington equivalent of Ireland - hence his Irish accent. After completing training, he spent his early working years at a logging company on the outskirts of his hometown, where he became quickly became handy with his huge crane arm mounted on top of him, but also served as a rescue chugger, exactly like Calley in the first three seasons.
When Chuggington's rail emergency service had been decided to be upgraded to what is now Chug Patrol, Jackman, now with wide rescue experience, was invited to become part of the squad, and gladly excepted, and after being shipped to Chuggington, he also assisted in completing the construction of Chug Patrol Headquarters, located in the main depot.
As it turned out, Chuggington wasn't the only railway with its rescue service being revamped to Chug Patrol, Tootington and Ironland - some time before Jackman moved - where two of a few that had undergone the change, so Jackman already had experience with the new and modern Chug Patrol wagons, and knew techniques that even Calley didn't know, which quickly won him the position as chief, which he proudly resides in to this day.

So, @lomotunes2008 , I haven't got around to designing Margot yet, but dammit, I couldn't wait any longer to post these facts about her story I came up with:
On the other end of Chug Town Trackside Towers is Chuggington Airport, a new location I will introduce in my headcanon (loosely based on what I saw in my dreams once or twice lol.)
Speed Fleet are the most common chugger here. It has a big station where passengers and parcels are transfered, and is the terminus of a newly built monorail line that goes all the way to Buffertonia.
Margot is one of the monorails on trial. Only up to four would be chosen to by Vee to stay.
Poor Emery was very hurt by Margot's mean words - but it wasn't Margot saying he was bad at his job that broke him - she also said his face looked like a pig, his swaying horns and buffers make him look like a ugly caterpillar, (Ooh, deja vu...) and that his eyes make him look like an ugly alien, because he has heterochromia. (Emery's left eye is green, and his right eye is blue)
And of course, he wasn't the only chugger she tormented; she called Chatsworth a wimp when she honked as loudly as she could at him, causing him to jump and overturn his hopper car.
She called Olwin a fat old fusspot because of her large streamlined body, and how upset she was when she got covered in sand from Chatsworth's car tipping over.
She called Old Puffer Pete a rusty, weak piece of junk and that he was the most useless, pathetic, and ditzy chugger she had ever seen, because he is the oldest in Chuggington and always gets the youngster's names wrong.
She finished off with I quote: "What's a smelly steamer like you still doing around?😒 Go find a scrapyard!😈"
Pete: 😨
What a bi🤬🤬🤬.
She then passes Hodge and Eddie and calls Hodge similar insults, due to the fact he is a 'hodge-podge' of scrap metal. Eddie, with his wrench clutched in his fist, shouted just what he thought of Margot insulting his faithful work companion, but alas, she was already leaving them far behind.
Margot is also very impatient and honked at everyone yelling at them to work faster, whether they were in her way or slowing her down in any way, shape, or form or not, kinda like Emily when she was bossy little b🤬tch in the S8 episode "Emily's Adventure."
Tumblr media
Margot literally yelled exactly this at the start of her journey at The Airport, when the station porters were loading up her passenger's luggage, and honks at them, which only caused them to bump the trolley and drop everything, and the passengers, disturbed by her horn, were very angry; monorails are supposed to be quiet!
She then honked rudely at Wilson and Brewster hauling a heavy stone train from the quarry, telling at them to hurry up, even though they were not in her way or anything whatsoever because she is a monorail so they don't run on each other's tracks at all. Brewster thought Margot was the rudest monorail he'd ever met and Wilson was very cross.
But Margot thought 'it made them work harder'.
What a f🤬🤬🤬ing stupid 🤬🤬🤬🤬.
She even insulted Koko's speed claiming she could go three times faster than Hanzo, let alone her. Koko was fuming.
So yeah, she was indeed just being an absolute menace to society and causing confusion and delay overall lol, and Emery was especially miserable. He meets up with the main trio (and my yet-to-be-revealed main oc) in The Depot later and told them what she said to him. Already angry with Margot, they convinced Emery they need to tell Vee about her appalling behavior and overcoming the pain, he agrees.
But of course, they weren't the only ones to complain to Vee about Margot, and long story short, Vee was not happy, and indeed, there was nothing for it but for Margot to be sent away in disgrace. All the other chuggers and monorails went off back to work as normal, and Margot was put back on the wagon, and taken straight back to the Buffertonian production plant she came from by Dunbar. Did she ever change her ways? We may never know...

Good afternoon, everyone. :)
I just wanted to make an announcement regarding my Chuggington headcanons.
Firstly, I want to thank you all for the kind reception the first two have received so far, it has not gone unappreciated, and it makes me very happy to see a good number of you, not just my followers, enjoying my content overall. ☺️
And secondly, yes, the headcanons are gonna be a recurring thing, dw. I do have a few more in mind planned for the coming weeks, these including The Depot's renovation in S4 to accommodate for CPHQ and The Working Wheels Yard, the Chuggineer's introduction, and perhaps even the origin of our main trio themselves :3
On some additional notes, the character origins aren't gonna be in an a specific order, depends on whenever I come up with them for which character.
In the future I will also have some new characters revealed, some entirely my OCs and some I've come across elsewhere; credit WILL be given. My most prominent OC is currently still in the process of having her bio and orthos completed, but she will be the first introduced once that's done. Not revealing any spoliers tho >;)
So keep your eyes open for some very interesting stuff as well as more of my artwork and edits for the foreseeable future... 😉

Got any headcanons for all the steamies?
Sorry for the long time to respond, but here’s the headcanons I got for all of our steam engines! Collectively, I’d like to refer them as: “The steam squad”.
Tumblr media
-Old puffer Pete-
He used to have decent eyesight in his youth. As he aged however, his vision started to not function as well as it used to be. He developed farsightedness, which creates a problem for him to see things up close. To combat this problem, Samuel (OC and previous head mechanic) and his fellow colleagues helped create a pair of special spectacles just for Pete. Pete couldn’t be any more grateful to Samuel.
In canon, Pete was prone to sleep riding (chugger version of sleep walking in case anyone forgets). Off-screen, after the events of “Park patroller Wilson”,he got his sleep riding problem sorted out after a few more nights of similar stories + one incident resulting someone getting in an accident. He was helped by Ronica and a sleep specialist to get the treatment that he needs. This could help explain why his sleep riding problem was never brought up again in the series.
As a hobby, Pete still loves to fly kites. After witnessing kids flying them during a summer in his youth, Pete got amazed and decides to try them out too. He has a storage compartment specifically for the colorful kites he has owned over the years.
Pete secretly has an old phonograph wagon hidden in a storage spot. He held a ton of sentimental value to it since that’s a gift given to him by James (OC, first mechanic on Chuggington railway) before immigrating to Tetsudō Republic. James is also the one that constructed the phonograph wagon. Before his retirement, he and Pete shared fond memories with the wagon together. Sometimes when Pete is having a rough day, he’ll pull out one of the records and place it onto the phonograph to listen to. On occasion, Olwin will join him on this for bonding time.
Back in Old Chuggington, there was a memorial bench in the depot dedicated to Daniel (OC), a human railway director that was Pete’s trainer. On his death anniversary , Pete would go there to honor and respect his father figure.
Out of all of his friends back in Chuggington, Olwin is the closest to him. Although she arrived to Chuggington a couple of years after him, they became quite close.
Tumblr media
-Olwin-
Her former smothering tendencies to trainees stems from a subconscious desire to secretly wanting a mother figure growing up (something she believes would be nice to have), mixed with maternal instinct (Her creator was a mother herself). Of course, after the canonical events of “Outbound Olwin” she toned down the need to guide the trainees in every step of the way.
In the past, she used to be a full-time trainer. The reason she’s a trainer on occasion in recent times is simply due to Dunbar’s arrival. His arrival frees up the responsibility she has to training trainees. During the time of his arrival, Olwin was needed for other workloads. She hasn’t returned to be a full trainer again, but misses being one.
In her spare time, Olwin loves to do bird watching. She uses special binoculars (made by Dr. Ling) for her to see and view the birds up in the sky. She’s the one that introduced the hobby to Chatsworth (also a headcanon).
Olwin knows a secret waterfall in the outskirts of the old town. She named the waterfall: “Sue” after a close late friend. During her youth, she and Sue would often play together by the waterfall. After Sue’s passing, Olwin decides to name their childhood waterfall playground after her. Whenever Olwin isn’t in such a good mood, she’ll retreat herself to the secret waterfall location. The sounds of the rustling water and ambient, quiet sounds of nature helps soothe the elderly chugger’s nerves.
As a young chugger, Olwin used to love playing with little wooden chugger figures in her free time (they’re like dolls, but for chuggers). She’ll sometimes play alone or with Sue (who also likes playing with them). Daniel knows how much Olwin loves them and will gift her a new one for special occasions. As she got older, Olwin lost interest and eventually stopped playing with them (they are still hidden somehow in the old town though). Despite the lack of interest of playing with toys nowadays, Olwin still has fond memories playing with the wooden chugger figures.
To this day, Olwin loves watching vintage movies. She specifically loves the romantic ones. After the first time seeing a film, Olwin gets pretty invested in the movie world since (Idk if there’s a Chugington world equivalent for Hollywood). It’ll take some convincing to have Olwin willingly watch modern films.
Tumblr media
-Speedy McAllister-
Speedy’s last name “McAllister” came from his creator, Malcolm McAllister (OC). Unfortunately for Malcolm, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness during the last few weeks of Speedy’s creation. Sensing his time is running out, one of Malcolm’s dying wishes to have Speedy gain his last name. By the time Speedy entered the world, Malcolm has left.
In his free time, Speedy is an avid story listener. The types of books he would read are classics, poetry, mystery, horror and suspense & thriller.  Unfortunately for him, the text from the books would usually be too small for him to read. Back in the old times, Speedy would try to find an available human friend to read the stories out loud to him. In modern day, he’ll use a specialized magnifying glass (created by Dr. Ling) that can help enlarge the text on screen for him to read. He has a special place in storage that he can access to as a small library.
Speedy is an animal whisperer. Perhaps his calm, patient personality is what makes many animals drawn to him. He has gradually learned how to talk down to animals to make them trust him right off the bat. He also has a way to calm and tame the wildest ones. His voice is certainly helpful to get animals to listen to him to begin with. He has a list of notable animal friends he has made over the years.
He, Pete and Olwin were a close trio back in the old town. However, due to being sent to work on a different railway after the demise of the old town (and short stay on the new town), he gradually drifted apart from them.
The reason Speedy came out of retirement in season 2 is simply just for the desire to work alongside his remaining old friends again (Pete and Olwin being amongst the few). Speedy has seen the world during his retirement, but still overall preferred home.
He became quite close to Piper due to her bearing resemblance of an old friend personality-wise.
Tumblr media
-Piper-
Piper does love all of her friends, but at the same time, she sometimes couldn’t help but feel worried about being the only young steam chugger around.
In a way, Piper reminds Zephie of herself when she was new to Chuggington. Out of all the younger chuggers in Chuggington, Zephie is the closest to Piper and considers her as her “best friend”. This is perhaps why these two have gotten closer in season 6.
Piper likes to blow bubbles. In her free time, she’ll pour small amounts of soap in her boiler just to create bubbles out of her funnel. She specifically tries to use scented bubble solution whenever she can (which is what she prefers using).
Many animals that reside in the Safari park absolutely adores Piper! As of recent times, she has been a frequent helper around the park, even in her free time/day off. She knows all of their names, likes/dislikes and has even been observant on their behavior/characteristics. So much so, she’ll eventually become one of the very few chuggers the animals are the most willing to listen to.
Piper shares a close friendship with Mtambo due to her frequent visits to the Safari Park whenever she’s free of her duties. Due to her immense love and fascination for animals and wildlife, Mtambo became pretty fond of her as a “niece”. Heck, he'll occasionally organize special private events just for her as other special ways to interact with animals at the park.
