Christopher Lee: Into the Christo-verse
Dooku: Do not speak to me of Master Yoda. He is a foolish fellow.
Qui-Gon: He's odd, I grant you. He's lived for almost 900 years-
Dooku: It's not that. It's his excessive consumption of mushrooms. They've clouded his vision and broken his syntax!

OATH OF OFFICE FOR US MEMBERS OF CONGRESS
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.
-
SITTING MEMBER OF CONGRESS LAUREN BOEBERT
I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk that’s not in the Constitution. It was in a stinking letter, and it means nothing like what they say it does.

Humphrey: What did you do to keep yourself sane while you were alone in this house until me and Sophie moved in?
Robin: Mostly counted all the pieces of wood. Thirty thousand, five hundred and eighty six.
Humphrey: Wow. Did you name them as well?
Robin:
Robin, bursting into tears: I could have named them!?

Decided to go out this weekend to buy more books to add to my physical TBR and drink some overpriced kit-kat choccy milk.
I also got my library card in the mail! Haven't been to a library in years, so I'm excited to see what I'll be able to find!

CHRIS HEDGES American Fascists The Christian Right and the War on America (2007)
Because fundamentalist followers live in a binary universe, they are incapable of seeing others as anything more than inverted reflections of themselves. If they seek to destroy nonbelievers to create a Christian America, then nonbelievers must be seeking to destroy them. This belief system negates the possibility of the ethical life. It fails to grasp that goodness must be sought outside the self and that the best defense against evil is to seek it within.
When people come to believe that they are immune from evil, that there is no resemblance between themselves and those they define as the enemy, they will inevitably grow to embody the evil they claim to fight. It is only by grasping our own capacity for evil, our own darkness, that we hold our own capacity for evil at bay. When evil is purely external, then moral purification always entails the eradication of others.

In the three minutes it takes the song to play I'm caught in a magic world of harmony and joy, a truly ecstatic joy, where the aching longing to be somewhere else, out of this city, out of this country, out of this body and out of this life, is kept at bay.” ― Christos Tsiolkas, Loaded
