2020
Failed party, money in drawer, communicate, move house, move boxes, drive in van, walk to shops, buy noodles, think it’s the end, see whole bus of soldiers in Beijing, new area, walk in darkness, think about leaving, leave, think its temporary, in taxi, post stupid photos, check and check again phone, think people with goggles on my plane are over reacting, take off my mask to eat, keep taking off to loosen, arrive back in London. Tube. Cold. Pub. Party at WeWork. Exhibition at Dulwich Gallery. Farringdon. Drugs and drinks. Brockley, South east London. DJ. Ethiopian food. Morley’s Peckham. Walking on the River. Photographer friend’s house. Canal cycle. National Gallery. Car crash, Dalston. Omar Souleyman. Corsica Studios. Meet girl, back to my friends, back to hers, sex. Morning up to mum’s best friends birthday, Covent Garden restaurant. In a van, Sunday roast. Chisenhale Gallery. arebyte Gallery. Getting worse in China, seems nice and easy and calm in England. Camberwell beers and more. Second-hand book shops, Charing Cross Road. Courtauld. Leafed through a book about a man who lived his entire 86.5 years in East London. Still talking to the same girl back in China. Both believe I’ll be back soon. Chicken wings. West London, meal. South London pub. DJing somewhere inside. Kent, see grandma. Rave, Bermondsey. Friends from Israel and Germany arrive. More drinks, more drugs. Mixing friends. Gay bar in Bethnal Green for old friend’s birthday. Acid, confused and hilarious. Tate Britain. Serpentine. Cranes on the bridge. Liverpool Street film screening. Feels shallow, but good. Begin regular E Pellici sojourns. Primrose Hill with Dad. Beer festival with Keaton and co. Peckham, school friend’s house, bad vibe. More drinks, more drugs. Working on first music compilation with Slowcook and Fafa. Begin watching all of the Studio Ghibli movies. Watching Breaking Bad. At some point have huge argument with my brother, it went like this: He came home from work and I was sitting watching Breaking Bad, he asks, “Have you been like that all day?” I either took it in the wrong way or picked up on a sly dig. It was probably me, but at this point I was pretty self-conscious and worried about going back to China and whether or not I would have a job back there. Was getting surprisingly pissed off with my brother mentioning his work, felt like an affront to me. Weird. He goes crazy (he has a short fuse), punching a wall, ready to fight me. My mum is pretty upset. A few days later I go into his room and try to patch things up. Turns into a deeper chat. He feels like I haven’t been a good brother to him, he gives the example of not looking out for him on his first days of school. I say I’m sorry, it’s because I’m a bit scared and insecure. In retrospect I regret a little laying so much weakness on the table, seems his interactions/ways of acting around me have changed a bit. Still not sure how I feel about it all. Considered getting a gold tooth with Matthew. Play with cats, enjoying them more and more. Rave in Dalston, good music from Asia and beyond. Looking at magazines. Not doing much work at all. Being out and about instead. Go to Norfolk. It’s beautiful, but get way too drunk on first night, sick everywhere, wake up naked in sick. Massive fucking shitshow. Majority of people there have no choice but to act weirdly around me now, which is understandable. Still some nice aspects. One girl there surely hates me a lot. Tate Modern. Art stuff by self is good. Corsica Studios, semi-art, semi-music event. Mr. Bao for first time of many. Radio in Tottenham. Take drugs. Pubs. Drive to Asda with brother to stock up on food. It’s March and the reality of the pandemic is hitting. More canal cycling. First and only group chat on Zoom. BH Funk. Probably have taken cocaine and messaged one of three or four girls numerous times by now. If there’s one, in the cold light of day, horrible and disgusting thing I’ve done too much this year it’s this. Incessant messaging of poor girls that I know will react (although increasingly they don’t, I manage to alienate even close friends in this way). Southbank and The Mall with Nick. Reading about Wuhan. List of good texts. Continuing to do some writing. Making WeChat posts for guī WeChat, including mix series and miniessays. Greenwich park with Matthew. Grime quiz online. Delivering food regularly for my mum’s school. Hackney Marshes with Luan. Epping Forest with Mum and Dad. By this point probably have woken up feeling sorry for myself in Ludo’s flat, after untold amounts of alcohol and cocaine. Online rave. Beijing artists only mix. Go to Switzerland, pass through Italy on the way. Its breath taking, the mountains, the expanse of scenery, not used to it. Climbing up mountains with no one around. Rolo and Patrick and Rita smoke too much weed. I really, really, really still hate smoking it. Feel a bit annoyed how long we spend sitting around while they smoke, but this is way outbalanced by the uniqueness of where we are and the beauty all around. Producing more and more, actually getting somewhere. Cooking more and more food. Reading more and more, like: Black and British, The Corrections, Real Fast Food, Bass, Mids, Tops, Zadie Smith, Olivia Lang, Graham Greene, JG Ballard, Monica Ali, Mo Yan, Jenny Zhang, John le Carre, Naked Lunch, Nabokov, Bukowski, Zora Neale Hurston, Wiley, Bitcoin, Murakami, Judith E. Butler, The Painter of Modern Life, Maupassant, Chekov, Video Art, Gravity’s Rainbow (couldn’t finish), Anas Nin, The Net Delusion (couldn’t finish), The Establishment and how they got away with it (couldn’t finish), Roddy Doyle, The Secret of Scent, General Intellects, Women In Love, The Intelligent Investor, Lyndon Johnson. Victoria Park more often than I can remember. To Chrissy’s house. Mile End Park. Very regularly sitting on the river in Wapping. Bring the chessboard and play Ludo sometimes, people smile and look at you differently when you’re playing chess and drinking beers versus just sitting and drinking beer. I May Destroy You. Industry. The beautiful wide expanse of Hackney Marshes. My incessant quest to reach 1000 followers in Instagram. More cycling, and I hate to say it but it really was: Here there and everywhere. Margate with my Dad to see my grandma in hospital and saw the Turner Prize exhibition. Light blue like scrubs, the sky and sun felt eternal. Swimming in dirty water. Make a DJ mix of old 2000s Road Rap. Eat cheese in Peckham. Cycle along the canal north, keep going and going through Tottenham, past Enfield keep going, it’s mad how quickly it becomes quiet fields on all sides, arrive to some kind of lake, swim and then back to the centre of town. Outside a Hawksmoor church in Shadwell ate chicken with Karim and Ludo. DJing. From my bedroom window saw a big crane in the middle of the night sitting on the canal. Begin developing the second DCCY compilation this time with BULLY magazine. Go to a house in an old school in Camberwell. Discover new secret riverside spots in East London. Finally give up my apartment in Beijing. Mile End park. Cycle further and further East to a pedestrian bridge I didn’t know existed. Get onto the beach and into the Thames water. Interview Akito. Begin writing more, after few months of wiling away the summertime. My friend Emmy gets married in Rwanda, I give him some money as a wedding gift which he tells me he used to buy his wife’s dress. Protests in HK always on TV. Get more into finances, crypto and trading, and just saving in general. Had sex with an old friend. Now meeting a girl I first knew years ago in Beijing. More secret river spots. Keaton has his baby, Noah. More times on Hackney Marshes. Barbican conservatory. Watching more films, try to watch all the films of some directors including: Jia Zhangke, Bong Joon-ho, Edward Yang, Wong Kar-wai, Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Decide to watch all of the infamous lauded series, go through Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos. Go to the seaside for a few days, camping also. Henry Wu album launch in a car park in Bermondsey. Go to visit Keaton’s baby for the first time. Good photography exhibition at Photographer’s Gallery. Go to Wallace Collection again. August. Go to Berlin. Swimming in Berlin lakes until I get an ear infection. It makes me drowsy and lethargic, but still seems to spend all my time cycling around the city. On one night cycle for hours to a rave on the outskirts of the city. Like a lot the abandoned airport in Berlin. Oh yeah, vaping. Found a dead bumble bee. Speak with Nevin about projects. Write a piece about the future of the art world for a magazine being started by Nevin’s friend in Canada. Go to Lithuania. Walk around Vilnius, get too drunk by myself. Get to the Curonian Spit and Nida, beaches and new friends. For the Nightlife Residency project. For a short while life is like on a desert island of new food, new people, new locations, quiet and new meaning. Go to the Russian border on the beach. Cycle to the road boarder and get stopped by the police. Go nude on the beach for the first time. Sauna, sand dunes and forests. DJ out for the first time in ages, this time with Nono. To Kaunus and try nice and stodgy Georgian food for the first time. Hackney Wick back for party. Meet a ginger girl online and go on a date. Wallace Collection again. Free beer and pizza. White Cube. National Gallery, Titian. On BBC Radio London with my Dad. Riverside beers. Saw a lost swan near my front door. Meet Keaton near his work, one of many times. Making more and more music, getting better. Decide I need more organisation and clarity, put everything I’ve done on a blog. More or less long since given up on my job at M Woods. But don’t really begin looking for anything new because it’s still sunny. At some point I start getting benefits money. Go to see La Haine in the cinema. Someone blocks me on WeChat because of me. Some pub somewhere. Sunday walks and breakfast with my parents. Go to an exhibition in Woolworth Road with Muzi. Realise how nice it is to run to Victoria Park along the canal. Vicky Park in general. Dinners at friends’ houses. Museum of London. Walking with Michael in some countryside near London, surprising how quickly things turn green. Break onto a pier in Wapping with Jack. Battersea Park. Tate, Bruce Nauman. Old Street Weatherspoon’s with Keaton, drugs. Central London cemetery. Chinese in Camberwell. Chinese in Aldgate. Italian in Camberwell. More and more exercise, running, weights and yoga with my brother. Sadie Coles. Nick, Central London. Gucci Mane. Hampstead Heath more because Ludo and his flatmates are nearby. Ludo’s now house more for days and nights of you guessed it. Borough Market more, with Emma. Alexandra Palace walk and famous sandwiches after. Tate Britian new lights. More time at Muzi’s. Signing up for cycle courier. LYL Radio show. Shave head. Take acid and it hurts my stomach. Camden Arts Centre with Muzi. Christmas party with friends. Birthday. Cake with Muzi, presents and Indian takeaway from family, walk in Vicky Park with Ludo and Karim plus battered sausage and chips. Christmas at home nice and warming meal. Evening to Ludo’s place with more friends. Boxing day with Matthew, pints and then more at his house in Peckham all night long. Next day is tough! Giant turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, turkey curry. Buy first NFTs. New Year’s Eve stay in at Muzi’s, one drink and a cake.

Artist Spotlight: Art of wangqr!
🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨
Today’s artist spotlight is focused on Art of wangqr!
🎨 Introduce yourself!
Hi there, my name is Chrissy. I was born in China but I’ve lived in Vancouver since age 10. I graduated from Emily Carr University in 2015 and I’ve been working as a 3D animator ever since! I’ve always drawn stuff prior to animation, so I try to table at cons as a means to push myself to keep drawing!
🎨 What type of art style interests you?
Nowadays I draw mostly chibis and cute foods, thick outline, then color it in in a more painterly style. Due to working full time, I don’t get a lot of time to draw, so I keep things simple and less ambitious for myself. I draw as a hobby; it’s for fun, no point to make it stressful like work right? :D
🎨 What’s the most memorable thing that you’ve experienced as an artist?
There are many actually. The best part of being an artist is when people resonate and interact with my art. Some of the most memorable moments for me are when people show me their fanart of my drawings, when they buy my art at a con, commission me, or even just when we strike up a great convo from one of my fanarts. The appreciation and smiles fuel me to draw even more everyday, yay!
🎨 Out of all the pieces you’ve created so far, which was the most challenging? Why?
The most challenging art I can think of now is probably the RO monster group one, it’s a pretty ambitious piece so it took many days to finish it. I am not a patient person so I usually don’t attempt to draw that many characters in one piece. I could have easily gotten tired of it and quit halfway, I already have enough WIP dumps *nervous laughter*…
🎨 What are  your favourite games and shows? Will we see them featured in your artwork sold at the Summerfest this year?
Yes definitely, my artworks are a mirror of my interests. My all time favorite MMORPG is Ragnarok Online. I played it so much back in high school, I owned almost every character near max level.  You can definitely find several fanart on that game at my table. There are also fanart on the NBC Hannibal, Inuyasha, Leagues, Baymax and various Pokemon. They were tons of fun to draw!
🎨 Find more of Chrissy’s art through her deviantart!

Poffenbarger, a redshirt freshman transfer from UConn, had a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. Everything I’m Going to Watch in November: A Petite Feast Of Television
Tumblr media
Welcome back to the spookiest time of year! That's right, it's election season! I hope everyone is going out to VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6th! If you don't vote, you don't get to read this blog. I know realistically there is no way for me to control that, but if you are reading this and you willfully didn't vote just imagine every sentence is tinged with my disappointment.
Anyway, remember last month when I boldly declared that there was no such thing as a consistently scary television show? Well, color me dead wrong because The Haunting of Hill House had a ghost or two to say about that. I really don't like being scared, but HoHH is such a GOOD SHOW I want to keep watching it even though I know it's going to make me scared. The ghosts are a metaphor for grief and trauma but they are also LITERALLY terrifying demon ghosts.
Speaking of demons,The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was not quite the show I expected, but it's charming and satisfyingly witchy nonetheless. Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis are my everything, and I have learned I need to start incorporating more LACE ACCENTS into my wardrobe.
Finally, I'd also like to highlight the new season of Doctor Who, which is so transcendentally good and wonderful and pure. Jodie Whitaker is luminous, she is a delight, she is charming, and FUN and crushing it.  There are not enough adjectives to fully convey the width and depth of my feelings. This season is a breath of fresh air after the increasingly stuffy and overly-reflective past seasons. If you have at any time had any interest in this show, I enthusiastically invite you to return.
So while you are busy taking this all in, adding these series to your Netflix queue, as I assume every reader does after partaking of these fine pieces of television criticism, allow me to introduce you to the feast of November's offerings:
Tumblr media
Friday, November 2nd - Homecoming (Amazon Prime)
No need to know anything about this show other than JULIA ROBERTS HAS COME TO DO TV AND THIS IS HER CHOSEN VESSEL. Honestly, with every trailer I am even more confused as to the plot, but who cares. It's based off a podcast? All I got.
Tumblr media
Friday, November 16th - Dogs (Netflix)
This could either be the greatest idea ever, or a horrible, horrible mistake. This six-part docuseries, specifically developed to attempt to drown you in a whirlpool of your own tears, follows six stories of six extraordinary dogs. That’s it, that’s the show. If you would like to get a pre-gauge of how emotionally devastated you will be you can watch the trailer here.
Sunday, November 18th -
Tumblr media
Escape at Dannemora (10pm on Showtime)
This is a mini-series directed by Ben Stiller (who seems to be taking himself quite seriously these days) about the real life prison break in upstate New York from 2015. The true story was stranger than fiction, it had hole-digging, manhunts, betrayal, and yes, even a love triangle. The mini-series will star Patricia Arquette, Benicio Del Toro and Paul Dano and hopefully Stiller goes quirky/weird and not somber/death march with it.
Tumblr media
My Brilliant Friend (9pm on HBO)
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, this Italian series is actually IN Italian. The show is about a lifelong friendship between two women, and it looks appropriately dreamy, literary, and most importantly Italian.
Tumblr media
Monday, November 19th -The Little Drummer Girl (9pm on AMC)
AMC once again drinks deep from the well of John le Carre, adapting another one of his novels (last year’s was the critically acclaimed Night Manager). I could tell you about the great cast, I could tell you about the spy games, but what is most exciting to me about this mini series is that it is directed entirely by Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Stoker, The Handmaiden) in his TV debut. If that name means nothing to you, please correct that, but also it means that even if this show is terrible it will be AMAZING.
Tumblr media
Sunday, November 25th - Dirty John (10pm on Bravo)
Based on the hum-dinger of a true crime podcast, Bravo has answered the call to bring this story to life with none other than Connie Britton and Eric Bana. It seems like Bravo is going full-tilt schlock with this, and god bless them for it. If you have had no prior contact with this story, then I strongly advise you to sit down, tune in, and buckle the fuck up.
Tumblr media
Wednesday, November 28th - A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy (10pm on NBC)
I should not need to explain to you why you must watch this.
And that's all she wrote (if only).
PS Can we talk about Naomi Watts being cast as the lead of the Game of Thrones prequel? I mean I'm not NOT about it...but also....what?

My Dear Friend and President, DJT,
It's not so smoky today - thank goodness! The Ranch Fire in Mendocino is 76% contained, Carr fire is at 83% and the Ferguson Fire is at 100%. Yeah! Cal Fire still has a Red Flag Warning in effect so we're not out of danger, yet. Please keep talking to Sonny Perdue about dealing with this situation and channel more funds to clearing brush and stressed trees. I think we are all upset about this situation so it doesn't help when Ryan Zinke tries to blame the fires on conservationists. His statement, quoted in the CSM today, that fire suppression is "being held hostage by special interest groups" is uncalled for. We don't need flaming rhetoric in addition to the flames we already have.
Tumblr media
Did you see the article about PA politics in the NYT this morning? It will be exciting in the Keystone state in November! The new districting creates a whole new dynamic there. Chrissy Houlahan, Democratic candidate in the 6th District is my favorite. She's amazing. Stanford grad, Air Force vet, Teach for America volunteer, engineer, business executive - that's quite a resume. She's an advocate for affordable health care and gun safety reform. I'd send her $5 but she's already raised a couple of million dollars so I'll be sending my $$ to someone else. I will keep my eyes open for more info on Madeleine Dean, Mary Gay Scanlon and Susan Wild who are also running in PA.
I hope you are busy planning celebrations for the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote. That's going to be August 18, 2020 so you have just 2 years to plan the biggest celebration that nation has seen. You can use the $90 million that you were going to spend on the military parade on it. It would be a great project to put in Ivanka and Melania's hands. I'm happy to help.
Have a great Sunday,
RCA

The Robron Break-Ups : A Definitive Guide (Part One/So Many)
Foreword
Do you ever start something you wish you hadn't? Well, then you have something in common with both Katie Sugden and myself, because here, my friends, here is my magnum opus: the definitive guide to the dark times.
I, anguished, alone and with clearly no better way to spend my time, have gone back to the start of this mess of a fictional relationship we refer to as robron and counted every single break up, every single dismissal, every single time one of these boys were cruelly (or rightfully lbr) #denied by the other. Yeah. That's right. This is going to be the longest series of posts you've ever seen.
A large amount of the blame here lies with @stolemyhheart, firstly for suggesting I do this in the first place (probably not seriously, but I clearly hate myself) and for providing the genius rating system I use throughout. The rest of the blame lies with Robert, Aaron and the writers for everything they have put us through in the last 2 years.
“But Lo,” I hear you yell, “this is depressing af, what about the happy times?” WELL YOU KNOW WHAT I WISH I HAD WRITTEN ABOUT THE HAPPY TIMES BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE ENDED IN A LOT SMALLER A WORD COUNT. But let's be honest… deep down, we all want to know just how many times it's been now that they've broken up/rejected one another…. right?
Following on from this, here is the answer to a sure to be heavily asked question: Why am I counting rejections etc. as break ups?
Honestly? It's the only way to save my sanity. I can't express how hard it would be to work out what is and is not a break up otherwise. The gdoc title of this list is actually The Robron Rejection Compendium, which is far more accurate. It’s just… It's the only way. You’ll see what I mean as we get into it.
But hey, you probably know. You've all seen it. The Rating System
For each break up, I give the following information, so that you can all see just how terrible these boys are at staying away from one another:
How long did it last?
Who came crawling back first?
How little did they mean it? (Score out of a possible 5, with 5 being 'they meant it as much as any two people can mean a break up and still end up back together' and 1 being 'get out of my life but also let's go to a theme park together tomorrow')
Anyway, onwards we go - starting at the beginning. Pre-affair days, because I was already here and why not, honestly?
Follow me as I list out every time robron broke up (or said they didn't want to be with each other), and narrate you through it, like Jimmy Carr in one of those random Christmas TV filler list countdown specials.
(Pre-warning : this post gets lightly nsfw pretty quickly, with hatesex talk and makeup sex talk abounds, because I have no restraint.)
Part One : Pre-Manslaughter
1. 24 November 2014
Ah, the first rejection. An iconic one - mostly because of all the wall-slamming. Do you miss the wall-slamming? I miss the wall-slamming.
For context - Aaron and Robert have a little Woolpack Bathroom Confrontation™ over Chrissie’s ring, which was stolen in their little Fake Robbery Escapade™ and then Aaron actually finds and retrieves Chrissie's ring from Ross, because Aaron is a good and decent soul. Robert smiles in response and looks at him in a slightly different, 'you could be worth more to me than I initially thought' way. Which is nice, because 2014!Robert seemed to always immediately assume all people were worthless morons not worthy of his time. Because 2014!Robert is a grade-A butthole. (I love him though. I love him.)
Anyway, Robert decides to reward Aaron by tracking him down and offering him cash, so really in this scene, Aaron is actually rejecting Robert's money as opposed to his dick, but it's still a rejection and honestly, as previously mentioned, if I don't get really liberal with the definition, I won't make it out of this alive. Also, please, as if they didn't both go home and think about being pressed up against that wall together all night. I bet Aaron was really annoyed about it too. You just know he hated how attracted he was to Robert's smug face. How long did it last? A day? No time at all, honestly.
Who came crawling back first? Robert, absolutely not taking Aaron’s ‘stay out of my way’ warnings to heart and instead deciding to confront him in the pub over Aaron’s ~obvious feelings for Chrissie~. Ok, Robert.
How little did they mean it? 5/5, because Aaron really didn't want Rob’s money. (Did want his dick tho, he just didn't quite realise that that would be on offer)
2. 2nd December 2014
Second on our list, it's the ‘Chrissie wants to buy Rob a car’ moment. Rob is all panicky and on-edge at the idea of Aaron talking to Chrissie (because he doesn't want Aaron spilling about the fake robbery and Aaron looks about as mild and easy to control as a live wire).
Chrissie leaves and Aaron yells at Robert about putting the woman he's about to marry through a shitty time and Robert… doesn't really care too much, to be honest. Aaron doesn't want to deal with him anymore and walks away. Robert gets this look on his face. Is it guilt? Maybe? He's really hard to read at this point, ok, he's like a moral black hole, but Aaron’s words have had some sort of effect, nonetheless.
How long did it last? Minutes? As long as it took Bob to make two americanos? The next time we see them, Aaron’s slamming a car boot down and still visibly agitated and Rob’s got the aforementioned coffees in and is trying to make nice
Who came crawling back first? Robert, with his coffee and his smiles and his apologies. Does he genuinely mean it? Is he just trying to keep Aaron on side so that he can potentially keep him quiet longer? Probably a mixture of both, let's be real. But Rob’s smile is cute and Aaron's smile in response is just as sweet and GUYS THEY'RE ALREADY IN LOVE IT'S HAPPENED THEY'RE BONDING OVER COFFEE AND CARS (and Chrissie?)
How little did they mean it? 2/5. Aaron genuinely did think Robert was being a terrible person, but also, it literally lasted minutes and all Rob had to do was buy a cup of coffee and turn on the charm to make things better… and oh boy, is Aaron a sucker for that charm.
Honourable Mention #1
The first honorary mention appears here, on 3/12/14, while Robert is having a Sugden family meal that's going just as well as you would expect a Sugden family meal to go and Diane invites Aaron to join in on the fun. Robert isn't about this idea at all, apparently and says so and then the two of them make subtexty sexual tension eyes at each other across the room. Robert runs away immediately, probably because he doesn't want the rest of his family to know he's in a constant state of ‘5 seconds away from ripping Aaron’s clothes off with his teeth’.
3. 3rd December 2014
Next up, we have what I like to call The First Date Rejection. Aaron came out to Robert, Rob got this Curious Look™ on his face and watched Aaron walk away. They made googly eyes at one another in front of Robert’s entire family and Aaron now finds Rob sitting in his car and for reasons that I can only assume relate to the wall-slamming incident and all the heated looks they've been sharing every time they're within touching distance of one another, Aaron basically asks Robert out on a date. It's not really intended to be a romantic date but... they both know they'd getting lucky at the end of it. Aaron’s trying to play it cool and kind of failing. Most inconvenient crush ever, am I right? Anyway, Robert blind panics again and immediately turns Aaron down, sounding insulted at Aaron’s entirely accurate reading of the situation. Aaron gets annoyed because honestly, why did he expect more from Robert in the first place? It all plays out in subtext and it's amazing, but also everyone is sad and no one is getting laid.
How long did it last? A day. An entire day.
Who came crawling back first? Robert again, fresh with the knowledge that Aaron would absolutely be up for it, desperately wanting to do something about it himself and also looking to get some payback on Chrissie for doubting his fidelity. Yeah... you... you show her Robert... how... how dare she believe that you couldn't be faithful to her… you! Of all… of all the people...
How little did they mean it? 2/5, because Robert is still scared of himself (and probably doesn't want to play away so close to home, more on that later) but also, you just know that he really wishes he could go flirt with Aaron over drinks and away from prying eyes and not care - as seen by his troubled face in the very last shot of the scene. Poor, deeply closeted Robert. Aaron is absolutely on to you, my son.
4. 4th December 2014 - The First Kiss (Rejections)
Ah. Ah the lay by. Iconic location of an iconic first kiss. Now since I'm obviously here to talk less about the romantic stuff, and more about the heartache, heart break and general You’re Dead To Me’s, I'm going to skip the mush and hop straight to the good stuff. Robert, having made the decision to throw caution to the wind in an impulsive angry reaction to Chrissie’s doubts, does the following: fakes a breakdown (or not even - just turning the engine off, what kind of terrible cover), gets Aaron's number from Vic and lures Aaron out to the side of a road under false pretenses.
Aaron gets there, pretty quickly realises what's up and he is All. About. It. Then, of course, Robert panics and chickens out, but Aaron has long had him sussed, chases after him and that's about as far as Rob’s defences will hold when it comes to Aaron.
They have an epic, epic first kiss that turns into an epic, epic make out session. All that sexual tension that's been building expressed in one moment - enough that Aaron basically starts shoving Robert into his low loader and pulling off his shirt, because they've both had Enough™ of the whole sensible restraint thing.
Naturally, this is when Robert freaks out again and pulls away. Aaron follows, they almost go at it again on the hood of Robert’s car and then finally, Rob comes to his senses and drives away.
(I lied earlier. I really didn't skip the mush at all. They love each other and they want to bang. That's all.)
How long did it last? The first pull away lasted a whole whopping second. The second one? Just long enough for Robert to bone Chrissie, realise he still wasn't satisfied because he wanted Aaron and then hang around the garage like a creeper for a bit. So about 2 hours.
Who came crawling back first? True to form once more, it's Robert, looking to scratch a particularly cute and scruffy itch that his fiancé just couldn't help with.
How little did they mean it? 1/5, Rob’s panicking again, still woefully in the closet and… probably coming to his senses a little, realising that this wouldn't end well? Aaron’s too close to home, already has too much to hold over Robert without this too, and… it's just not a good idea, is it?
But really, as we know, all of Robert’s defences are absolutely useless against Aaron, so… onto garage sex (or blowjobs anyway, I'm still saying blowjobs) in some rando’s car. Beautiful.
5. 5th December 2014
So, they've banged in a car (and then Robert went back and banged Chrissie again, because apparently he's literally the horniest person alive) and now we skip to the next day, where Aaron has managed to find a car for Robert, per Chrissie’s request.
At home farm, Chrissie wants to have a little private chat with Aaron about payment and Robert, panicking once more over his terrible decisions, pulls Aaron to the side and offers him hush money. Again. Because he apparently did not learn the first time.
Aaron, as expected, does not take this well.
How long did it last? About 3 days.
Who came crawling back first? Aaron? If you count taking Finn out to make Robert jealous, having the plan backfire entirely and make Robert more smug and then going out and absolutely battering Rob’s new car as “crawling back”. Either way, there's more wall-slamming and they end up having angry sex in Aaron’s room, so it's a win all round. Except for Rob’s car. And Chrissie, I guess.
How little did they mean it? 4/5. Enough that they ended up having angry sex a few days later, anyway. That counts as ‘meaning it’ in the robron book of arguments.
And that’s Part One! Tune in next time... maybe we’ll get to 2015. God help me what am I doing
