Payton Armstrong at MMFA:
Right-wing media figures are praising Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters’ mandate that the state’s public schools teach the Bible, including declaring that the government needs to “impose Christian values on the pagans” and encouraging other states to follow Walters’ lead.
Following his announcement of the new Bible mandate for Oklahoma's public schools, Walters has spoken with Fox News and other right-wing media to promote the policy, including appearing with a right-wing commentator and pastor who has promised to “embrace Christian Nationalism” and apparently “reached out” to Walters about mandating the Bible in schools. Notably, Walters has a history of taking education policy advice from right-wing media figures.
After issuing the mandate, Walters appeared on several right-wing media programs and said a far-right media figure and pastor had pitched the policy
During an appearance after issuing the mandate, Walters claimed that right-wing commentator and pastor Jackson Lahmeyer, who has promised to “embrace Christian nationalism” and previously ran for U.S. Senate in Oklahoma, encouraged him to implement such a policy last year. At Lahmeyer’s church, Walters claimed that the pastor had “documented this, he reached out, and we’ve been looking at it now for about a year,” arguing, “How do you teach history without the Bible? You can’t. It is academic malpractice.” Lahmeyer, who said in 2022 that he “will embrace Christian Nationalism,” praised Walters for issuing the mandate and suggested other states would follow his lead. Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Education Ryan Walters (R)’s plan to indoctrinate Sooner State students with Bible instruction came from Christian Nationalist pastor Jackson Lahmeyer.

Life After "The Big Three" with Chris Plante
On this week's episode of Wavelengths I talked to Chris Plante of Polygon.com and The Besties about what it would take for a company to become a major player in the video game console market in 2023 and beyond.
This episode is audio only due to some logistical issues, but we'll be back with video for the next one. Thanks for understanding! 😘

Jacina Hollins-Borges at MMFA:
MAGA media figures are preparing their audiences to believe that the upcoming presidential debate on CNN will be unfairly biased against Donald Trump.
While Trump has already begun saying that the June 27 debate will be rigged against him, right-wing media attacks escalated this week after an interview with Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt was cut off on CNN’s This Morning when she refused to stop attacking network anchor Jake Tapper. Right-wing media seized on the incident as supposed evidence that the CNN debate will be unfair, and some called for Trump to cancel the debate if the network does not officially apologize.
Right-wing media had a meltdown over CNN’s Kasie Hunt cutting off Trump spokesliar Karoline Leavitt on Monday’s edition of CNN This Morning.

A pretty much perfect afternoon. I prepared my roast (chicken this week) and while that was cooking I did some figure drawing and then some random quick portrait practice in neocolor crayon. And I listened to all the Led Zeppelin albums in order, as far as Physical Graffiti, serving up the meal to Kashmir. Nice.
I think Chris Cornell is my favourite. If you don't know his solo stuff, listen to Through the Window - it's lovely.
