this one had me contemplating!! really scratching my chin for answers, and it was a nice exercise!

Did either of them try to resist their feelings?

Hmm, I think it would be Clem! Being someone who has been hurt, developing feelings for someone is hopeful. It’s the hope a relationship could flourish, and it could last, or at least, be something meaningful. For Clem, it’s difficult for him to accept those feelings because of self-worth issues and uncertainty. He might think those feelings will pass anyway, since nothing lasts forever, and with someone like Raz, I think he would harbor a lot of hesitation because, probably, in his words, “Crushing on Raz was not on my bingo card.”

As for Raz, I think it’d come as a surprise! I think if any possible romantic relationship would happen between them, it would be as adults. Raz, like Clem, has a whole slew of issues when he’s growing up, and they come to a head as a teen. Being worn out by the Psychonauts, feeling like he’s not keeping up with others or his own high standards, while still trying to be available for others, he’s pulling himself too thin. Someone as keen as Clem can see right through him. This got a bit away from me, but overall, I think there would be hesitation on equal sides!

How do their friends and family feel about them as a couple? (augustus voice) Oh, you must be Razputin’s boyfriend! You’ve grown quite tall since I last saw you. And hey, I like your threads, as the kids say. At least, that’s what Queepie said it means, haha. How are you, son? (clem thinking voice) IS THIS A POSITIVE PATERNAL INTERACTION????

Augustus and Donatella are really supportive of Raz! I think they’re both nosy in their kids’ relationships, so Donatella can sometimes come off as abrasive and having high standards, but only because she wants the best for Raz. She’s put off by Clem when he alludes to her passive aggressiveness in a comment made by him because while it might be something she’s trying to curb, it’s a bit rude for her son’s new boyfriend to remark on it. Raz’s other siblings have different views on him with Queepie thinking he’s meh and not really cool compared to Lili. He looks and sounds like he tries too hard, but Tala likes Clem! Sometimes, he says something that goes over her head, but he’s funny! Frazie and Dion are a bit more on to him, feeling he’s a bit too reserved for their personal liking, but Frazie is way more casual about it than Dion, who feels more strongly about letting anyone into the family.

Clem’s dad would flat out tell Raz to go to hell. I think Clem’s mom is more of a doormat and stays with Clem’s father for too long. To me, there are acts of domestic violence happening way too often at Clem’s home that have impacted her severely to the point where she can’t protect Clem. Sometimes, she snaps at Clem, too, but it’s never as bad as what his father does. Either way, his father wouldn’t approve, and his mother would be on the fence no matter how Raz comes off to her.

As for their besties, Crystal approves! She wants to see Clem happy no matter what! And if Raz makes him happy, then that makes her happy, even though their arguments are worrisome. For Dogen and Lili, they’re wary, a bit surprised, like…Clem? Really? Well, Raz seems happy paling around with him, and Dogen comes around faster than Lili. Dogen isn’t as naive or passive anymore, so when he sees Raz and Clem on good terms, he thinks it’s pretty good that they’re happy. Lili is more protective, maybe even a bit jealous! She has a tendency to stew, kind of like how she watches Franke and Kitty from the shadows when they’re clearly in a happier place, Kitty especially. She and Raz both know what Clem is like, so she’s more brusque with Clem when Raz admits their relationship has been rocky or anything similar.

What is their height difference? Age difference? Do either matter to them? They’re around the same height! Clem is a few months older than Raz because I still like Raz being born in December rather than October according to that one asset. Doesn’t really matter to them, but I think Clem’s the taller one, so he gets to snicker when Raz has to lean up to kiss him. Raz is used to being a tall guy in the room thanks to tall Aquato genes! But alas, Clem has that over him by a few inches.

Who takes the lead in social situations? How are they around each other's friends?

Both do! I think they can bounce off each other better when they’re adults. Raz is sociable, and so is Clem to a lesser degree. Put them on a job where they have to serve as distractions, and distract they will! Pretend to have a couple’s fight in public to let another team infiltrate a base? They’re on it! Comedy routine or circus tricks to let another agent get the slip and snatch something off an enemy in the crowd? You bet they’ve got that! But for casual scenes, it’s pretty equal, though I think Raz tries to lead, then holds back because he realizes he’s leading too much.

Raz has pretty much a great relationship with all of Clem’s friends! He and Crystal are tight, especially since I view Crystal as taking up work in the summer camp division. She’s a facility officer, and Raz sometimes visits Whispering Rock as a special counselor, so they coordinate well together.

Going off the last question, Clem gets along better with Dogen than Lili. Dogen is more open, though he can be closed off when suspicions run high, not that he really has them with Clem. It would be kind of tense with Lili at the start of any romantic relationship with Raz because she doesn’t want Raz hurt, but I think both of their somewhat jaded selves go well. Talking shit about others in the break room type of vibe, while also having a deep sense of caring for Raz that they come to understand about each other.

What reminds them of each other? For Raz about Clem, pop music with an emphasis on catchy lyrics, sunsets, running, trophies, moody colors, the middle of a forest, wordplay For Clem about Raz, clowns, balloon animals, gymnastics, leather, an offered hand, a tired glint in someone’s eyes What do they like best about each other? I think having someone being, occasionally, brutally honest is what Raz needs. As an adult, Clem can see through the barriers Raz has put up, and when he calls him out on it, Raz is almost…thankful. He’s exhausted on some days, especially after a long mission or a stressful encounter with a client that ends happily. He’s sometimes a Psychonaut more than a person, and he wants to help people, but helping himself is hard. Clem knows that well with how he had felt cornered in his home and beaten down by life, but when Raz lets down that barrier, he’s a shoulder for Raz to lean on. On a happier note, Raz likes Clem’s jokes! They’re clever, really, and he does ask for a cheer with a grin, and Clem was always better at making them up, so they do hit the spot. As for Clem, I think he does appreciate that confidence Raz has. Sometimes, it can be overbearing. It can be too much or too much bravado, but the belief that Raz has is infectious. He wants to be his best for others and himself and for Clem, and having someone in his corner gripping his hand, squeezing it gently when trepidation and morbidity washes over him, it’s nice, pleasant, having someone like Raz in his life. And he also likes Raz’s quips! They’re corny, and he’s on the cob. He’s also wearing Raz’s jackets. What? No, no, this was freshly washed, and it just happened to be out, so hey, finders keepers! Besides, Raz doesn’t mind.

Who kills the bugs in the house? Raz! The caravan had a tendency for bugs to crawl in, so Raz was number one bug crusher whenever Frazie wasn’t around. Clem is very impressed by his accuracy by his ability to kill a mosquito with a single clap.

Who likes to dance with, or sing for, the other? Both as well about dancing! It’s really fun to just groove with each other and let go of inhibitions. Raz has learned a lot of different styles, while Clem goes with the flow. Sure, he might not be following the crowd exactly, but that’s what makes it fun! And the same goes for Raz, just holding Clem’s hands and swinging themselves around. It doesn’t matter if Clem is twenty-something when he’s letting out a whee!

And now, for JT/Chops and (drum roll) Crystal/Phoebe!

Who is more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning? It’s Chops! Growing up on a farm, JT has a tendency to get up early. It’s ingrained in him, but Chops knows how to get him back to bed for longer shut-eye. Either playfully telekinetically tugging on his collar or rolling out of bed to lean into JT until he relents, Chops tends to get his way! Chops is a guy who likes getting enough sleep, and he feels at ease when his main man is right there next to him. To go along with the next question, Chops is the cold one, and when JT tries to get up, he’s clicking his tongue and brushing his cold heel against his leg all, Nuh-uh, eh?

Who hogs the blankets or takes up more than their fair share of the bed? Who puts their cold feet on the other? Who are the big and little spoons? Crystal is a COCOON!!! She’s cozy. She’s snuggled up. A thousand percent blanket stealer, which is fine by Phoebe because she doesn’t prefer so many blankets. Just one is good enough for her, and seeing Crystal smothered under three layers of comforters is plain funny. Phoebe is immune to cold feet, and Crystal wears socks to bed. As for the spoons, it depends! They’re both restless sleepers of various degrees. I think Phoebe likes her space in bed, so they don’t really spoon that much (and being suffocated under all those blankets Crystal has would be way, way, way too warm for her!) but when they do, they fall asleep facing each other, brows leaning into each other, or one of them slips their head to the other’s chest to doze off.
