Tbf when I read that part, rather than omegaverse, my mind automatically went to it being a monster thing.
Choi han grew up in the forest of darkness. His only companions are monsters and beast for decades. He hasn't seen a human being until harris village. He spent more time as a beast longer than most of his friends have been alive.
Sharing food is the highest form of kindness for beasts. Unheard of, unless it's for family. Nests are homes, a place where you can be safe and protected. Intruders means death, and if your nest is compromised you might as well lost it forever cuz that means it can always happen again.
He might be able to relearn how to act human, but inside, he's still a monster of the forest of darkness.
Why haven't I seen someone talk about this scene?😭
Like...idk

LIKE...Choi Han what do you mean???
Nest?????
What nest?????
This ain't no omegaverse!
Like I kid you not, I had a hard time sleeping after reading that😭
#tcf#lcf#trash of the count's family#lout of the count’s family#Choi han is such an interesting character#The only reason he could pass as human is cuz harris village had been so good to him#He's still a monster of the forest of darkness at heart#And only just relearning how to be human

A Brief History of Queer Representation in Modern Kdrama
Earlier this week, totally unrelated to Heesu in Class 2, @twig-tea and I were making a list of kdramas with proper queer representation, because Twig loves to track queer things and I love to make highly specific lists. In light of all the discussion around Heesu and its appeal to a mainstream kdrama audience, we thought it would be helpful to share as context for what Heesu’s creators set out to do, how it compares to Love in the Big City and its goals, and why both shows are so significant for those who are not as familiar with this media landscape. We wrote the below together (strap in, folks, it's a long one).
As always, let us be clear what we are talking about with this list. We’re only looking at modern mainstream kdrama, so this list is not inclusive of Korean queer cinema or QL dramas, both of which have a rich history of their own. And when we say queer representation, we mean canonically queer characters that are acknowledged as such in the text of the show, if not by saying the words, at least by openly acknowledging same sex attraction. If there’s anything we know about queer people on the internet, it’s that our community can read gay subtext into anything, but that’s not what we’re doing here. For this list we are only interested in depictions of LGBTQ+ people that are clear and spelled out for anyone watching a show. In addition, for the purposes of this list we are talking about intentional inclusion of queer characters with a proper role in the story, not nominal nods to queer people existing (like every Hong Seok Cheon cameo in a drama), comedic gender bending without real reckoning with sexuality (ala The King’s Affection), use of queer people as the butt of a joke (glaring at you Vincenzo), queerness in psychosexual dreams to titillate and generate buzz (hiiiii Friendly Rivalry), or subtextual gay tension between two same sex actors who happen to have chemistry (waves hello to The Devil Judge). The point of this exercise is to chart the evolution of significant queer representation in kdrama—both good and bad—not to document every gay character that ever appeared for two seconds on screen. That said, while Shan has watched several hundred kdramas and Twig has tried to watch everything gay on the planet, it’s possible we missed something that should be here, so let us know if you think we did (though please do mind the criteria and don’t send us an impassioned essay about why Beyond Evil should count).
With that, let’s begin our walk through of the last two decades of queer characters in kdrama.
Coffee Prince (2007)
Among the most famous dramas on this list, Coffee Prince kicked off queer rep in modern kdrama with a classic gender bender in which Go Eun Chan, a girl, pretends to be a boy for Reasons. But what made it stand out is that her love interest falls for her while he still thinks she’s a man and has a whole sexual identity crisis and bisexual coming out process. Choi Han Gyul (and Gong Yoo), you will always be famous! This show was sincerely groundbreaking, not only for depicting a male romance lead struggling with his sexuality, but also including lots of gender fuckery for the female lead. It’s still one of the most significant queer kdramas ever made.
Life is Beautiful (2010)
This show is notable for how high it set the bar and how nothing has reached it since. Yang Tae Sub is our central character in this 63-hour ensemble family drama, and his arcs struggling with the closet, falling in love, coming out, commitment, and marriage (yes: marriage! In 2010!), are surprisingly realistic and touching without being too cliche. Kyung Soo and Tae Sub start as a casual hookup, and they have to recalibrate as their feelings change (and yes, they kiss on screen and the show is clear that they have sex throughout the series). They fight, they make up, and as their relationship deepens they have other problems in their lives they support one another through—their gayness is not the only or even the most interesting thing about them. It’s also notable that both of these actors (Song Chang Eui and Lee Sang Woo) were established kdrama stars before taking these roles.
Secret Garden (2010)
This het romance features a side character (played by our beloved Lee Jong Suk) who is a young musical prodigy pursued for his talents by the second lead, a senior musician. Over the course of the story we learn that he’s gay and harboring feelings for his would-be mentor. His plot is minor, but he ends the story happy and successful in his career, if not in a relationship. It’s small scale representation in the grand scheme of things, but one of only a handful of decent depictions of a gay person in kdrama at that point.
Reply 1997 (2012)
This wildly popular drama (at the time, it was one of the highest rated cable dramas in history) that spawned two follow-up iterations features a gay character, Joon Hee, who is in love with his long time best friend, Yoon Jae, and confides his feelings to their other best friend, Shi Won. Of course, this show is ultimately Yoon Jae and Shi Won’s love story, so Joon Hee does not get his happy romance ending, but his friends and the show treat him with kindness and compassion, and his character was well received by audiences.
Reply 1994 (2013)
Similar to its predecessor, this drama featured a side character with a gay subplot, but this time it was more about questioning his identity. Bingguere is a character whose arc is all about his confusion and indecision, and that extended to his sexuality when he struggled to understand his attraction to the male lead. Ultimately, he moves past those feelings and we learn his partner in the future is a woman, and the drama doesn’t really clarify where his sexuality landed. It’s kind of weak in terms of explicit queer rep, but showing a man grappling with his sexuality in a very popular family drama still feels significant.
Seonam Girls High School Investigations (2014)
While most of their content is limited to two episodes of this 14-episode high school drama, Eun Bin and Soo Yeon have, to our knowledge, the first lesbian kiss on Korean television, which earns them a place on this list. They are an established couple struggling with how their relationship is a risk for them (because it can be and is used against them). Their relationship doesn’t survive to the end of the series, but they are treated with compassion and their humanity is underscored by the narrative. They also spark an important conversation among the main characters about whether they should be helped because they’re gay, which was a little better intentioned than it was executed, but the show had the spirit.
Perseverance Goo Hae Ra (2015)
In a show about aspiring musicians forming a group to take a second shot at stardom, Jang Goon (portrayed by solo idol Park Kwang Seon) is one of the core group members with a heartwarming arc about acceptance. His story is about his father coming to terms with him being an idol and being gay. He has a one-sided confession scene that is decently done, and the scene where his father accepts him knowing the truth (after having been outed against his will) is genuinely moving. It was also touching to see the girl who originally crushed on him support him once she found out about his sexuality.
Hogu’s Love (2015)
This drama was considered progressive for its time, as its core plot is about Hogu, a man who decides to support his first love when he finds out she is pregnant with someone else’s child. In addition to that, side character Kang Chul has an arc where he experiences attraction to Hogu and tries to sort out his feelings, considering whether he identifies as gay before ultimately deciding he does not. It’s not the best rep we’ve ever seen, but it was part of an interesting attempt by a drama to explore complicated social and identity issues.
The Lover (2015)
Lee Jun Jae and Takuya (played by Lee Jae Joon who was also in the gay film Night Flight (2014) and Takuya of jpop group CROSS GENE) are roommates in this series about four couples in an apartment building. Their story starts as a comedy, in which Jun Jae and Takuya end up in ship moments that are played off by the narrative as jokes and misunderstandings, but then they catch feelings for real. We see one of the characters struggle with his queer awakening and there is a happy ending. Using the actors’ real names was a choice, and led to some seriously disruptive RPF shipping; but it was refreshing to have an active idol not only play gay but in a romance with a happy ending.
Prison Playbook (2017)
Another ensemble show with a queer side character; Loony, one of the main character Je Hyuk’s cell mates, is notable for his queerness not being used as a joke and not being the core of the character’s arc. Instead, this character struggles with addiction and how that affects his relationship, which is only incidentally gay. His story is moving and well developed, especially considering the size of this cast, but it doesn’t get a ton of screen time.
Romance is a Bonus Book (2019)

The queer rep in this drama is minor but overall positive, as we learn that the male lead Eun Ho’s ex-girlfriend, who he is still friendly with, ended their relationship because she fell in love with a woman. The show presents her as a lovely person who helps the female lead several times and is happy in her lesbian relationship, and we even get to see her with her partner briefly. A small win for sapphic representation in a very popular Netflix drama.
Moment at Eighteen (2019)
Jung Oh Je (RIP Moonbin) is a side character friend of the main lead. His sexuality becomes part of the plot when he is confessed to by a friend of the female lead, and he admits that he has a crush on the second male lead (Ma Hwi Young). While the characters in the show are mixed in their response, it’s clear the story is on the side of treating Oh Je with compassion.
Be Melodramatic (2019)
youtube
This is an ensemble show centered on a group of friends who move in together to support a grieving young woman, Lee Eun Jung, and one of the housemates is her younger brother Lee Hyo Bong, a gay musician with a long-term partner. He is a side character and his most significant plot is about supporting his sister, with his sexuality and relationship part of his characterization rather than an active story thread. It’s a positive depiction and the way his sexuality is presented as just part of who he is felt significant at the time.
Love with Flaws (2019)
Joo Won Suk (RIP Cha in Ha) is one of the FL’s older brothers, and while not the focus of the drama he gets his own fully developed arc, including the mentorship of queer side character Choi Ho Dol. The queer rep in this show covers suicidality, the loneliness of the closet, bullying, solidarity, and fear of parental shame. That makes it sound depressing, but it’s a hopeful story about the character moving out of depression and into self-acceptance, has one of the best scenes depicting gay acceptance from a father in any show, and both Won Suk and Ho Dol have a happy ending (including for their romance).
Itaewon Class (2020)
The first drama on this list to feature a transgender character, Itaewon Class is about a group of social misfits trying to launch a restaurant on a trendy street in Itaewon. Ma Hyun Yi, a transgender woman saving money for her gender affirming surgery, is among the gang. Her story is not a big focus for the drama, but she gets a nice arc about coming into herself and gaining recognition for her talents as a chef, and the other characters always respect her identity. It’s pretty solid representation for a side character.
Sweet Munchies (2020)
This drama tries to tackle the problems of homophobia and appropriating queerness but misses the mark on both. The queer character in this show, Kang Tae Wan, is here to function as a driving force and conscience for the main male lead and female lead; he’s essentially the second lead but never had a chance (though he didn’t know it, since the main lead is pretending to be gay for clout). Tae Wan is a good character, but the narrative doesn’t care much about him or about queer people in general, it’s focused on how heterosexuals experience queerness. Not exactly amazing queer representation, whatever its intentions.
Run On (2020)
This drama features both a gay character and an asexual character, both of whom are written respectfully and get proper coming out scenes. There is also some messiness around one of the main characters appropriating queer identity as a way to avoid the pressures of her patriarchy, and the drama knows she’s wrong for that. This was one of the first instances of a kdrama acknowledging queer people as a regular part of the world around us and not singular oddities, and it was nice to see multiple facets of queer representation in one show.
Mr. Queen (2020)
This gender bender retains its place on the list because the main character (a man who awakens in the body of a Queen during the Joseon dynasty) openly struggles with his gender dysphoria as well as what it means that he’s attracted to a man, and these struggles are present for the bulk of the show. The character also has sex with both men and women while in that body. It’s one of the better representations of gender swap and feels queer, even when the relationship on screen has the guise of heterosexuality.
Mine (2021)
In this drama about ambitious women married to powerful men who struggle to break free from their constraints, one of the main characters reunites with her first love—another woman. The drama follows Jung Seo Hyun as she struggles to acquire the power she needs to live as she wants, and she ultimately achieves her goal, reuniting with her lover at the story’s end. It’s the first kdrama with a lesbian character in a major role who gets her happy romance ending.
Move to Heaven (2021)
Despite only being featured in episode 5, this was a good story that garnered a lot of attention in a popular Netflix drama, so for cultural impact reasons alone it belongs on this list. We start the episode with Jung Soo Hyun’s death, but this is a show about finding closure after death, so for once this death doesn’t feel like bury your gays. This is a compassionate tragedy in which we see how fear held Soo Hyun back from his relationship with Ian Park while he was alive, but his belongings at death indicate he was getting ready to face his fear and move to the US to marry Ian after all. Through the main characters of the show, Ian gets the closure of knowing Soo Hyun loved him.
Nevertheless (2021)
Yoon Sol and Seo Ji Wan have a typical plot for side characters (they’re in the female lead’s friend group) with a friends-to-lovers arc that depicts the fear and frustration when both friends are closeted and uncertain about risking the friendship but reach the point where they can’t pretend anymore. Since they’re both women, this felt pretty radical. They got a good romantic arc and a happy ending, if not a lot of screen time.
Under the Queen’s Umbrella (2022)
In this sageuk, the fourth prince is living a double life, hiding away makeup and women’s clothing that they wear in secret. The character is depicted as trans, but given the setting, explicit language and modern terminology (including altered pronouns) are not used in this side plot. When the prince’s mother finds out, she supports her child to have an artist paint a portrait of their true self, and ultimately, the prince leaves the royal family to go live a more authentic life in isolation in a bittersweet resolution.
A Time Called You (2023)
The queer rep in this drama comes in the form of a brief backstory montage for two gay characters, one of whom (Yeon Jun) is in a coma. We learn that he ended up in this state after getting into a car accident while in the process of confessing to the guy he mutually liked (Tae Ha), who was killed in the accident. From there, Yeon Jun’s body is taken over by a heterosexual character (it’s a whole time loop thing). This entry is mostly notable for featuring a high profile cameo from Rowoon playing Tae Ha, and unfortunately, for being a fairly textbook example of the bury your gays trope. In 2023!
Wedding Impossible (2024)
This disaster of a drama purported to finally feature a gay character in a prominent role that drove the narrative—in a story about Do Han pretending to marry his longtime friend to avoid being forced to marry another woman—but Do Han ended up a minor side character in his own story when the show chose to focus nearly all its attention on his brother’s het romance. Worse, the other characters treated him terribly and the story blamed every problem on his sexuality. This show was straight up homophobic and it was a significant regression for queer depictions in mainstream Korean media.
Bitter Sweet Hell (2024)

Choi Doi Hyun (played by Park Jae Chan of Semantic Error) is the closeted son of the main character, struggling with how hiding his secret affects his school life and his relationship with his family. His story ends happily with Jun Ho in the US, which felt like a win after the above history with kdrama, but because his secret being his queerness is hidden for most of the story, we don’t get to see it inform the narrative much except in retrospect.
Squid Game 2 (2024)
The most recent entry on our list features Park Sung Hoon as Hyeon Ju, a transgender woman who enters the life or death game at the center of this drama to earn money to move to Thailand and get gender affirming surgery. While her inclusion wasn't entirely groundbreaking, Hyeon Ju was a well-developed character with a sympathetic backstory who quickly became a fan favorite, notable given Squid Game's popularity and broad international audience.
Bringing Better Queer Stories to Mainstream Drama Audiences
With all that context established, we have been contemplating how queer creators in Korea can reach a wider audience with their stories and ensure queer representation in kdrama is both more common and more authentic. We look to Love in the Big City and Heesu in Class 2 as a start, as we would argue that both shows exist in the gray space between mainstream kdrama and kbl. They both leverage kdrama style and structure to tell queer stories that include, but are not limited to, gay romances. They both had unusual distribution and battled to even get released and in front of an audience, with LITBC rushing its episodes out amidst public protests and Heesu sitting on the shelf for two years before being quietly released on a streaming platform. And they both had goals to reach an audience beyond the usual BL viewers, albeit with wildly different tones and themes in their stories. The BL audience is too niche to effect the social change that queer creators are seeking, and the limited runtime, genre tropes, and laser-focus on romance means it is harder to make wider social and cultural points in a BL story (it doesn’t hit the same when gay characters are treated as human in a story that takes place in the no homophobia BL bubble). And as we’ve seen from this walk through the past, there are real limits to queer representation that is not created by queer people or informed by their lived experiences.
As you can see from reviewing this list, these two shows were the first kdramas in well over a decade (after the only other example, Life Is Beautiful) to center on a gay main character whose journey drove the story, and they were doing this in the context of a media landscape that rarely elevates queer people beyond minor side plots, still regularly fumbles on respectful representation, and in which representation seems to be getting worse. Love in the Big City set out to show a young queer man’s life in all its glorious messiness. Go Young was not an easy character, and the show did not hold back on his flaws or shy away from either the joy or the struggle he found in his sexuality. Heesu is about a younger character and so his struggles are centered around coming of age and first love, but it similarly depicts a beautifully flawed young gay man coming to terms with himself and asks the audience to empathize with and care about him as his loved ones in the story do. Where LITBC uses a unique storytelling structure to draw in the viewer and highlight what makes Young’s life feel different, Heesu roots itself in familiar drama beats and queer-coded side plots in the hopes that the audience will see and be comforted by the familiar in Heesu’s world.
Both of these stories, in their own way, speak to a mainstream audience and ask for queer existence and queer humanity to be acknowledged. And this does not make them problematic as queer works, because they accomplish their goals of speaking to a wider audience while still being true to queer experiences. Given how scant decent queer representation has been in kdramas over the last twenty years (consider the size of the list above against the fact that there are well over 1500 modern kdramas, and so few of the above listed characters are mains or even significant sides in these dramas), more shows like LITBC and Heesu are needed to bridge this gap. We sincerely hope they find the support they need to get made.

You know? I have been thinking for a while now. About [The Birth Of A Hero] novel. KRS!Cale only read up to volume 5 right? But the novel itself is longer and has more volume than that. It makes me wonder. Does the novel depict the whole 20-year-long war that ends in a tragedy? Does that mean in the novel, the [Cale Henituse] who was only a minor villain in the few first volumes will come back as a relevant side character? Because [The Birth Of A Hero] was meant to be a guide for Choi Jung Soo to change things. And [Cale Henituse] is important due to his Thames bloodline and the [Anual Rings Of Life] Accient Power which is important to kill the White Star requires someone with the Thames bloodline. Does the novel later reveal all those details about [Cale Henituse]? Does the novel also reveal [Alberu Crossman]’s true nature and origin? He is, after all, an important character as he is the one gathering people in the doomed future.
It's interesting to think about what else is written in there. And let's not forget, how interesting it is if KRS!Cale has all this information from the start. How KRS!Cale would act if he had read all the volumes of [The Birth Of A Hero] before he woke up in Cale's body? Knowing that the protagonist, [Choi Han] won't be able to handle everything because the novel has shown him how it ended in a tragedy? And what he will do from the start with all this extra knowledge that he knows, about ARM and the White Star, about the original owner of his current body, [Cale Henituse]’s relevant role in the bigger scheme, about everything including the Accient Powers and Gods?

White Star
I know the fandom often makes fun of White Star. However, when it comes to power and influence, it is a terrifying opponent. It cannot be forgotten that in the original timeline, White Star first appeared 20 years after the beginning of the war in front of Choi Han. Nothing happened only thanks to regressor. We also saw the diary of the God of Death, a lot of people should have died. In the original timeline Roan kingdom would be destroyed, the Whipper kingdom would lose to the Empire. Jungle would be under the rule of Elisneh. It's likely that many places would be destroyed by dead mana because of the Empire. The dragons we met would be dead. Bud would probably have been killed too, after all, White Star was hunting him. The whales had a war with the mermaids, but it is possible that they later lost. White Star would have the most powerful ancient powers. After all, he was trying to obtain Sky Eating Water and we know how powerful this power is. It's better not to mention the balance of the 5 attributes. Additionally, it has races with a dark attribute on its side. He managed to gain a lot of sacrifice, so his Sky attribute would be more powerful than what we have seen. He has its own kingdom, and Kingdoms that work with him.He also got rid of two dangerous people, Saint and Holy Maiden. There is no one who can use the artifact left by the Sun God. The corrupt Church would realize too late how dangerous the enemy is, it is impossible for them to sacrifice their lives to purify dead mana. It was obvious what their reaction would be after we already seen their reaction when Prince Valentino asked for help. There is also no one who can use fire of destruction, because the person who took this power was an elf, a person with no money and without correct acquired power. The world tree would be destroyed and replaced by a new tree controlled by him. There would also be no weapon capable of completely destroying his soul.
There is something that seems interesting to me. The proposal the God of Death gave to Choi Jung Soo. Nameless 1 already had Choi Han, since a second Single Lifers is needed. That could mean Choi Han lost. It's possible that he didn't die, but something worse happened to him. From being controlled by illusions to becoming a Half Blood-like monster or becoming a demon. It is possible that hunters could have killed him later. CJS preferred to sacrifice his life to his closest family. KRS has become someone whose future cannot be predicted. Thanks to this, KRS has become someone who can change the future of others. KRS read the book with the necessary information. Besides, he had the power, intelligence, experience. It's not that WS was an idiot, this person was terrifying. He managed to guess that Cale was a transmigrator, that the person in this body wasn't the real Cale. Even if the other theories were wrong. We have to remember how unlikely it is that he is someone from another world. After all, he had too much information. While it is laughable to say that Cale works with the Gods, he was actually partly right. Cale was sent to this world by the God of Death, and the God likes him and offered him the position of a saint. Even thank to God he gained the power that allowed him to imprison White Star. White Star lost because Cale had help from God and was loved by nature. And so Cale is someone that nature likes, elementals are part of nature, the world tree has lost branches for him many times, even gave him the oldest root. Dragons liked him because of his power and character. Elves were interested in him many times because of 5 attributes, so different from each other. He did not discriminate against any race, so even the necromancers and dark elves cooperated with him. Of course, Cale is also someone who survived the apocalypse, he managed to become someone strong even in such circumstances. Even White Star who lived for 1000 years couldn't compare to how many difficult and demanding missions Cale completed while he was still in his old body. Because White Star has always had the power, he never had to fear that the monster would eat him, that if he lost, the people he protected would be next. I can say with confidence that Cale has a lot more experience even if he didn't live as long. Compared to White Star, Cale never took the easy path. I would also like to talk about the powers of these two, but that's for another time.

fandom masterlist(s) ; here
character(s) ; hyun ryu / zen, jaehee kang, jihyun kim / v, jumin han, saeran choi / unknown / ray, saeyoung choi / 707, yoosung kim
outline ; “love language hcs for all the love interests”
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
hyun ryu / zen
physical touch
nuzzle your nose against his after you kiss, tackle-hug him after he’s nailed yet another performance, hold his hand tightly when you’re walking through a crowded area, cuddle up to him when you’re laying on the sofa at home, pepper kisses all over his face until he wakes up, play with his hair when he’s laying across your lap — shower him with your touch and affection and care and this man will absolutely melt
and make no mistake, zen gives just as good as he gets both in public and in private — like it’s rare for you to go more than a few moments at a time in his company without him reaching out for you or kissing you (be that on your lips, your cheeks, the top of your head or your temple, or lower like on your neck, or shoulders, or hands, or fingertips — he just really likes kissing you, especially if you’re the type to get flustered by it)
words of affirmation
it’s so very important to zen that you never have any room to doubt his feelings for you nor your worth as a person, so he makes a habit of complimenting and praising and confessing to you whatever comes to mind whenever he can — whether that means firmly stating that you’re the most attractive person he’s ever seen in between kisses, or showing up to every event you’re participating in to cheer you on (with flowers of course), or texting you ‘i love you’s and ‘you’ve got this’s throughout the day, or calling you so many lovey-dicey pet names that it makes your head spin, or leaving you voice messages when he’s away for work just so you have something to listen to when you’re feeling down, or whatever, he goes above and beyond to make his feelings for you impossible to underestimate or ignore or brush off no matter how insecure you may be feeling at the time
and while his work as an actor has left him very accustomed to compliments and praise, it hits so much harder when it’s coming from the love of his life than a hundred strangers — so call him handsome, and babe, and praise him for his talents, and watch him turn to mush
jaehee kang
quality time
after working under jumin for so long, it’s safe to say that jaehee is very familiar with what an unhealthy work-life balance looks like and now that she’s working with you she’s very intent on not falling into familiar bad habits — refusing to let work and stress get in the way of your relationship and doing what she can to ensure the two of you get to spend plenty of time together
having a cup of coffee together in the morning before opening up your cafe, making sure to leave work at the door when you both get home, dancing together to whatever song comes on the radio when you’re closing up your business on an evening, taking your lunch breaks together so you have some time to decompress during the work day, meal prepping as a team, attending new musicals together (both those featuring zen and others that caught your eye), going out on the weekends for proper dates, etc. — needless to say you two spend plenty of time together that isn’t related to work and she wouldn’t have it any other way
honesty
after spending all day putting on an amiable and charming facade for your customers or for attendees at the latest charity gala the rfa organised, there’s nothing quite like being able to go home, take off the mask, and be yourself with your partner — having the space to be frustrated or upset or exhausted without judgement, and being able to be there for you when you’re feeling those same things, is so important to jaehee and arguably helps prevent most major arguments because there’s no pressure to pretend and bottle things up with each other
bonus points if the two of you join in on each other’s vents, but she’s just as willing and happy to provide comfort and understanding instead as you rant about that one stupid customer who really got on your nerves today — anger may not be pretty, but it’s human and she’s grateful that you trust her enough to show her the sides of yourself that aren’t strictly friendly or ‘nice’, and that she can trust you not to judge her when she shows you her frustration in return
jihyun kim / v
art
no matter what type of art he ends up leaning into, you as his lover will always be his greatest inspiration and his muse — and he makes no attempt to hide that from you. after all, what’s there to be ashamed about being enamoured with his spouse?
as a violinist he’d compose entire arrangements dedicated to your love story, as a painter he crafts the most brilliant pictures inspired by you and how you make him feel, and as a photographer he creates entire exhibitions featuring you and the life you’ve lived together — each variation undeniably gorgeous and emotional, so rich and unfiltered in how he approaches his feelings that it’s impossible to not start to love yourself a little bit more through the lens of his adoration (the way he sketches your smile, the sound of your laughter woven into a larger musical piece, a candid photo of you in the early morning when you’re still half asleep — all made beautiful and earnest and punctuated with an expression of pure warmth on his face when he shows them to you)
words of affirmation
after everything he’s been through, after the losses and pain and abuse he’s suffered throughout his life, having you there to treat him so softly and to so generously shower him in your love is more than enough to leave him teary eyed and warm. though he does have a bad habit of brushing off your praise and compliments at first, the longer you’re together the better he becomes at accepting your earnest declarations and encouragements as an extension of your love for him and the more he becomes impacted by them — reddened cheeks, brightened eyes, and a smile so bright that it borders on contagious
jumin han
gift giving
jumin is ridiculously wealthy and has absolutely no qualms about using that wealth to spoil you rotten — in his eyes, as his lover, you deserve nothing but the absolute best and he will go to any extreme, pay any price no matter how expensive, in order to give you the lifestyle you deserve. luxury clothes, fine jewellery, sports cars and private planes, frequent trips abroad, holiday homes across the globe, etc. — anything you could possibly dream of will be yours if only you say the word… or just look at something for longer than usual…
and for his part jumin much prefers to receive handmade things from you — a painting or sketch, a poem or love letter, something that reminded you of him and is proof that he’s as present in your thoughts as you are in his — and he keep all of them in the best condition possible. he even has a whole drawer in his home office where he keeps every letter and note you’ve ever left for him… it’s nice to be loved for who he is, that’s all
quality time
whenever he’s not working on something for his family business or the rfa, jumin is spending his every waking moment with you: spoiling you rotten, taking you out on luxurious vacations, treating you to extravagant dates, showering you with his affection, and just generally making you feel like the only person in the whole world that matters to him — because you are! he feels terrible about how busy he is and aches for you whenever you’re apart, so he does everything he can to make up for that when he’s with you — and if you show appreciation for his efforts and a longing for his presence that rivals his own then he’ll melt
saeran choi / unknown / ray
protectiveness
saeran is someone who knows pain and loss and grief intimately, someone who knows what it’s like to be hurt and used and to be made to lose themselves for the whims of another, and he will do any and everything in his power to keep you from experiencing the same things that he has — and even the smallest amount of pain or illness on your part (like a papercut or a cold) is enough to set him on edge and leave his chest feeling unbearably tight. this fear makes him immensely protective over you — both in the sense that he’d jump in front of a bullet for you, and in the sense that he will nurse you back to health whenever you’re unwell or hurt and will not let you do anything unsupervised until you’re completely recovered
you’re the centre of his universe, the love of his life, and saeran is ready to do whatever it takes to protect you and your peace from the darkness he was raised in… because goodness knows you only deserve the best
quality time
sometimes all saeran needs, more than praise and touch and gentle looks, is just to spend some time with you alone — ideally somewhere quiet where he can just exist with you without the need for conversation or outside entertainment. your presence in general is just really calming to him and he loves being around you, and knowing that you truly enjoy his company in return, even if sometimes he just doesn’t have the energy to do something extravagant or keep up conversation. sometimes it’s just enough for you to be there, with him and with the flowers in the garden.
saeyoung choi / 707
humour / playfulness
whether its through his endless pranks and corny jokes over text in the rfa chat, or his so-bad-they’re-good puns and unexpected innuendos that always manage to catch you off guard, or his practical jokes that never cross the line of ‘too far’ and manage to hit just right, saeyoung always finds a way to make you laugh and brighten your day — even if that laughter comes at his own expense sometimes when he’s been a complete idiot
and having you there to understand and mirror his sense of humour means everything to him — because you get it and he doesn’t have to make himself smaller, or quieter, or blander, to fit into your world… you accept him as he is and even manage to use his own methods against him and leave him laughing until he’s in tears, and that means so so so much to him
attention to detail
seven made no secret of the fact that he ran a detailed background check on you when you first joined the rfa, and he also never attempted to hide the fact that he was almost always tuned in to the cameras in the apartment to keep an eye on you, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock to say that he knows you extremely well. so well, in fact, that if you didn’t know better it would be all too easy to assume that your darling hacker is an actual psychic for how well he’s able to predict and react to your moods and cravings (even, at times, anticipating you wanting something before you realise it yourself)
and he puts that knowledge to good use: surprising you with gifts he knows you’ll actually appreciate or trips to places he knows you’ve been wanting to visit, knowing what snacks and medications to keep stocked up in his home so you always have exactly what you need, reminding you of an upcoming appointment or birthday or anniversary that he knows might have slipped your mind, and just generally making you feel so understood and seen that it’s impossible to not want to smother him in kisses until his glasses fog up and his cheeks are a deeper shade of red than his hair
yoosung kim
gaming / sharing interests
while he does start to game less and less as he gets older (veterinary work keeps him busy, after all), if you were ever to stop by and ask him to teach you how to play then he’s going to be jumping at the chance to share his interests with you — and he’s patient as hell, too, even if you genuinely do suck at the game he’ll just sit back and cheer you on until you’re able to take on an enemy alone and win (at which point he’ll be so genuinely proud it’s adorable)
acts of service
yoosung is the ‘picks up flowers on his way home everyday’ type of boyfriend, the ‘buys your favourite takeout when he notices you’re feeling down’ type of boyfriend, the ‘helps you take care of yourself when you’re sick’ type of boyfriend, the ‘learns the new game you’re playing just to help you with a level you’re struggling with’ type of boyfriend, the ‘gives you his coat and freezes on the way home type of boyfriend’, and the ‘helps you revise for your exams and interviews’ type of boyfriend — and he does it all with determination and a boyishly charming smile because, to him, you’re worth all of that and more
and if you’re the type of partner who would do all of that for him too — who makes note of all the important dates so he doesn’t forget, who helps him clean his wounds after his encounter with mint eye without a hint of a complaint, who ties his ties for him before he goes out to work just because you can, who makes an account on lolol just to play with him, and who is there with him on those late nights during exam season to keep him healthy and sane — then he’s going to have to fight the urge to propose to you then and there

Cale Henituse: The Unwilling Hero Who Plays the Fool
Cale Henituse, the protagonist of Trash of the Count’s Family, is a master strategist, reluctant hero, and a walking contradiction. He starts off as the typical "trash" young noble—a lazy, indulgent, and irresponsible heir. However, this façade is just a cover for his true nature: a highly intelligent, calculating, and fiercely protective individual who wants nothing more than to live a peaceful life… but ironically keeps doing the exact opposite.
1. Reluctant but Calculated Heroism
Cale does not want to be a hero—his primary goal is to live a slacker life and avoid trouble at all costs. Yet, despite his constant insistence that he is "trash," his actions say otherwise. He cannot turn a blind eye to injustice, suffering, or the struggles of those around him. He helps people, not because he wants recognition, but because it’s simply in his nature. His idea of "staying out of trouble" often involves eliminating threats before they become a problem, making him a paradoxical figure who actively ensures his own involvement in world-altering events.
2. Genius in Disguise
Cale plays dumb to perfection—his outward persona is that of a lazy noble with no ambition, but behind the scenes, he is a terrifyingly efficient tactician. He manipulates events and people with chess-like precision, using his knowledge of the novel's original timeline to outmaneuver enemies and secure a future where he doesn’t have to work too hard. He excels at information gathering, deception, and strategic planning, making him the kind of person who always has five backup plans in place.
3. Loyalty and Found Family
One of Cale’s most defining traits is his unwavering loyalty to his allies. Though he insists he only does things for his own benefit, he continuously gathers a devoted, powerful, and somewhat chaotic family around him. His subordinates, ranging from dragons and knights to former assassins and mercenaries, are all willing to follow him to the ends of the earth because of how much he genuinely cares for them—even if he refuses to admit it.
His relationships are some of the strongest emotional cores of the story. Whether it’s his father Deruth Henituse, Choi Han, Raon Miru, or Rosalyn, Cale inspires deep loyalty despite his claims that he’s a selfish, unmotivated man. He prioritizes their safety and well-being above all else, often risking his own life in the process.
4. Self-Destructive but Pragmatic
Cale has a terrible habit of self-sacrifice, even if he tries to rationalize it as part of his grand plan. He constantly underestimates his own worth and pushes himself beyond his limits, often leading to severe injuries and exhaustion. His “it’s fine, I’ll just bleed a little” mentality is both a running gag and a serious character flaw that his allies struggle to correct.
At the same time, Cale is pragmatic—he avoids unnecessary fights, prioritizes efficiency, and has no interest in being a traditional "good guy". He is willing to make morally grey decisions if they ensure long-term stability and safety. His sense of justice is rooted in logic rather than idealism, making him a refreshing contrast to typical self-sacrificing protagonists.
Conclusion: The Legend Who Never Wanted to Be One
Cale Henituse is a brilliantly complex character—a man who insists he wants nothing but peace, yet constantly rises to the occasion as a leader, protector, and mastermind. His reluctance, intelligence, dry humor, and deeply emotional connections make him one of the most engaging and layered protagonists in manhwa. Whether he likes it or not, he is not just a survivor of fate, but the one rewriting it entirely.

from aya: reblog if you enjoyed! i’ve been working on this for 3 months. i hope you enjoy :(;゙゚'ω゚'):.

one, current location — cheol’s apartment.
your phone buzzed and your phone screen lit signing you got a notification. you knew who it was from cause everyone else was muted. “mm— cheol—“ you struggled in between kisses wanting to part so you could read the message. he sighed and only parted his lips yet his face was still close and his hands were on your hips, “yea?” his eyes were on you, and yours was on the text message you just received.
”give me a second, let me reply to this guy,” you moved away from him and unlocked your phone. seungcheol stood at the side and rested his arm on the counter behind you.
you read the text and smiled softly. the text was from a guy you’ve been talking to in class, jeon wonwoo. his text read, “hey, i’m free tomorrow after the class we have together, we can meet up then?”
he was responding to something you said earlier where you asked if he was interested in getting coffee or lunch with you. he said yes but he needed to check his schedule first. he then asked for your phone number so he could message you and let you know.
as you read his response you instantly felt the need to talk about it to your friends. “i gotta go,” you hopped off the stool you were sitting on and gathered your things in a rush, “can you unlock the door please?”
“huh? where are you going?” cheol furrowed his eyebrows and reached out for you arm but you moved too quick, placing your shoes on already. you always stayed until dinner but you had to cut your time with him short. “i’m gonna meet kwan and kwon!” you smiled brightly. your smile brought a warmth to him that no one else could. usually he’d convince you to stay but it seemed like it was an emergency?
“alright take care of yourself okay? tell me when you get back home,” seungcheol opened the door of his apartment and stood against the frame with his arms crossed. “always will! sorry you have to eat dinner alone,” you finished getting your shoes on and stood up.
he tilted his head in confusion and adoration for how you felt bad over something like that. giving you a kiss on the forehead he affirmed, “i think han and shua should be coming home soon but even if they weren’t, it’s okay.” you exchanged your goodbyes and you walked to the elevator simultaneously texting your friends you’d be on your way to their place.
「kwan: 👍」

two, current location — kwan and kwon’s.
you ringed the doorbell and didn’t get a response for a few seconds. you turned the doorknob just to try and it turned all the way meaning it was unlocked. you sighed, “soonyoung!” the two were on their couch totally immersed in the k-drama they were watching so they barely noticed you.
seungkwan turned his head and his eyes widened when he saw you. “oh my god-“ he smacked soonyoung’s head. “what!” soonyoung rubbed his head. “you forgot to lock the door? again?” you stomped in frustrated.
“we are actually going to have a burglary and murder case one day,” seungkwan points out as he’s still hitting soonyoung. recently soonyoung has been forgetting to lock the doors of their apartment and it’s becoming a problem.
after the two settled they welcomed you in and poured you a glass of your favourite drink. they bought a carton specially for you. “so what’s up, what story do you have for us today?” seungkwan sat down beside you on the couch.
“you will not guess who i got a date with!” you shifted your position to face the two.
soonyoung looked at you puzzled but based on your excitement, it had to be someone weird, “yoon jeonghan?”
you denied quickly, “no? jeonghan and i would never work out.”
“damn, so you’ve thought about it,” seungkwan rested his chin on his hand in disbelief. “i had to! we played truth or dare and jeonghan asked me if i’d date him! that apartment is like a frat house.”
they snickered at the story, “is it xu minghao?” seungkwan continued.
“oh my god do you think i can get with the xu minghao?”
“no not really.”
you ignored him and showed the text from wonwoo.
“jeon wonwoo!?” soonyoung shouted, “pro gamer jeon wonwoo!?” “the nerdy guy that sits behind you in that one class!?” seungkwan jumped in his seat.
“nerd? i'm pretty sure he benches more than you!?” you argued.
“he does?” soonyoung covered his mouth from shock. “nerdy has nothing to do with the gym,” seungkwan rolled his eyes.
“why is it such a shock? isn’t he hot?”
“hot? i guess but your type? i didn’t think so,” soonyoung squinted his eyes as if he was trying to picture you two together.
seungkwan stood up, hands on his head as if it’s a crisis situation, “how did this even happen?”
you just giggled and shrugged your shoulders, “i don’t know, i’ve talked to him a couple times and i made him laugh one time, next thing i knew, i was asking him out and he said yes.”
seungkwan snorted and teased, “you made him laugh one time? were you pointing a gun at his head that one time?” you hit him with a pillow multiple times.
“so are you letting go of seungcheol?” seungkwan looked at you intently, “wonwoo does not seem like the type who would be okay with your…habits? current routine?” referring to the way you were practically sleeping in seungcheol’s bed every night.
your eyes bounced around the house. if you were being honest, you liked seungcheol and seungcheol was undeniably smitten with you.
but that’s as far as you two go.
it became clear you guys weren’t exclusive when he had no reaction to you going out with someone else that wasn’t him. the zero signs of care in his eyes when you walked by him with the new guy made you understand that he only needed you there for the convenience and to fill the void of affection.
and so you silently told everyone that’s what you wanted as well. at the very least, it wasn’t as heartless as other friends with benefits existing out there, he cared about you and that’s what made it so hard to leave. but eventually, you grew out of it. you wanted to put a label on something.
bottom line, you wanted more.
perhaps that’s why wonwoo was so exciting to you. it’s something new. he’s someone that potentially wants what you want.
soonyoung nodded in agreement, “right? like he seems like he’s into long term, that kind of stuff.”
“guys i haven’t even went out with him yet!” you wailed. “give it awhile then maybe we can start looking further than just friends, you know?”
“of course, of course,” seungkwan raised his eyebrows quietly processing everything.
soonyoung who was sitting on the floor shifted closer to you and rested his cheek on your knee, “what’re you wearing tomorrow?” “omg i don’t know! let’s go plan,” you grabbed him and seungkwan and ran to the guest room where you left some of your clothes in case you stay the night.
+
three, current location — seungcheol, jeonghan & joshua’s apartment.
the sound of the door unlocking echoed into the apartment. “we’re home!” jeonghan and joshua lugged into the space. they were seungcheol’s roommates or more like parasites—
“welcome home, what do you guys wanna eat?” seungcheol got up from the couch. “we can just order today,” jeonghan said before walking into his room to freshen up.
“no yn?” joshua looked around. “no they had to leave to meet up with soonyoung and seungkwan, seemed urgent.”
“urgent?” joshua tilted his head. “yea why?” “the last time yn left for an ‘urgent’ reason, it was cause they started going out with that kim mingyu guy?”
seungcheol scrolled on his phone looking for food to order completely uninterested in the conversation “and?”
“and then you told mingyu to fuck off so mingyu cut ties with yn?” joshua passive-aggressively recalled.
“yeaa, that was funny he didn’t stand a chance with yn, he didn’t even try,” seungcheol scoffed.
joshua looked at seungcheol with a touch of flame in his eyes, “don’t you think you’re being unfair to yn?”
“what do you mean?”
“just asking, have you ever genuinely asked them what they wanted? if they ever wanted to have something more than a friends with benefits?”
“why do you think yn wants that?”
“oh i don’t know, maybe with the fact that despite being with you they’re still trying to see other people? yn and mingyu were a great couple until you crashed it.”
“the fact they came back to me after that, kinda makes it clear they didn’t like him all that much.”
“what are you gonna do when one day they don’t come back?” joshua crossed his arms.
seungcheol looked up from his phone, “why do you care?”
joshua rolled his eyes and started walking to the fridge, “i get it, you two aren’t in a relationship but you and i know you care about yn. i don’t want you to regret something you do or didn’t do in the future.”
seungcheol just exhaled and raised his brows, “alright.”
“so what have you ordered!” jeonghan walked out of his room excitedly. as he noticed the tension in the air he instantly knew, they were talking about you.
jeonghan sighed and went by seungcheol who was aimlessly still looking for food. then, he looked at joshua who seemed to be in heavy spirits.
things that jeonghan knew: jeonghan knew or atleast suspected that seungcheol has feelings for you. jeonghan also knew that joshua was struggling to keep something from seungcheol, something you told him.
—
one night where you stayed over and you all drank, you got drunk but so did seungcheol. you ended up sleeping in joshua’s bed so that he could monitor you. joshua was looking for a trash bag in case you had to throw up while jeonghan was preparing you for sleep. as jeonghan wiped your body with a damp cloth, you happened to utter,
“i really love cheol. i can’t believe we’re just watered down to friends with benefits.”
they both heard it. joshua just stroked your hair with his hands until you were fully asleep.
he couldn’t lie, since then he’s been frustrated cause he knew how good your heart is. as close as he is with cheol, he can’t help but think, isn’t your relationship with cheol was holding you back?
but honestly he felt that you two would end up together one way or another, any interference might mess things up. in the end, the sober two came to the mental agreement it was your situation to deal with.
—
“you are taking too long! order fried chicken and let’s do karaoke today!” jeonghan tried to lighten up the mood. “sorry, grandpa’s struggling to see his screen with his poor eyesight,” joshua targeted to seungcheol. “you didn’t even try to help!” the eldest retorted. joshua laughed at his reaction and got up to set up the living room so that they could watch shows and eat.
at the end of the day they were each other’s rock. joshua was just scared for your feelings with seungcheol’s unpredictable actions.

four, current location — college.
you could barely pay attention in class knowing that you were going to go out with wonwoo in a few minutes. you have gone on a ton of dates before but for some reason this one was exciting. it was going to be different from the rest.
the class soon ended and wonwoo stood by your table, “hey.”
“hi!” you greeted him back. “so i was thinking we can go to this restaurant but it’s kinda far.” “it’s okay i have a car,” he smiled wiggling his keys in his hand.
not like it was rare for college students to have a car but you just thought he was extremely cool that your jaw almost dropped from his actions. wonwoo tilted his head to the door, “come, let’s go, send me the location by the way.” you nodded and skipped to his side.
you both got to the parking lot and he opened the door of the passenger seat for you. “thanks,” you said before he closed the door. he was sweet. you didn’t even talk about this being a date but he was certainly treating it like one.
wonwoo got into the car and you went on your phone to send the location of the restaurant. wonwoo was looking to his left where you were sitting and you thought maybe he was staring at you. you did spend around two hours matching clothes you left in seungkwan and soonyoung’s place. you were so close to just going home to look at other clothes but they didn’t let you since it was late at night—
“yn?” “yea?” “do you know them?” he pointed to the window at your side.
low and behold, the devil and the angel, jeonghan and joshua in the car beside you who were practically staring you down out of shock.
you got shocked yourself but thought nothing of it as you lowered your window, “hey!” you casually greeted. “yn! where’re you going?” joshua returned to you.
“gonna go to my favourite restaurant, oh by the way this is wonwoo,” you introduced.
“ah yea, i think i have… one class with you?” jeonghan squinted to the guy behind you. “i think so?” wonwoo pursed his lips.
“well you two have fun, yn are you gonna have dinner at ours later?” joshua asked.
“uhm,” you gave a glance to wonwoo who just gave a soft smile while raising his eyebrows. “i don’t think i will, maybe next time tho!” you rejected.
“ahh gotcha,” jeonghan replied while resting his body on the wheel.
you waved at them saying your goodbyes and closed your window. soon enough wonwoo drove out of the parking.
“you often have dinners at their place?” wonwoo asked curious. “yea, sometimes.” more like you practically live there.
“sounds fun.”
“it is! it’s a really nice way to let off some steam from all of the college stress,” you laughed
what would wonwoo think if he knew what you were actually there for. would wonwoo still go out with you?
-
“did you get a photo of them?” jeonghan peeked at joshua’s phone.
“yup, goodluck to seungcheol,” joshua lightly giggled while looking his screen.

five, current location — kwan and kwon’s.
you crashed into the apartment, you don't even know if soonyoung locked the door, “guys i just had the best date ever!”
there was one guy sitting at the center table they had for meals who looked quite reckless and overwhelmed with all of the papers around him, “yn….it is almost midnight,” seungkwan glared.
“bad time?” you asked, backing up.
“nope, i was actually waiting for you so that i had an excuse when i don’t pass up my work tomorrow,” he said getting up and dragging his blanket to the couch.
“what are you gonna say when your teacher asks why you didn't do it?”
“soonyoung ate it.”
you just pursed your lips and nodded simultaneously and suddenly soonyoung’s door swung opened, “is that yn i hear?”
you peaked your head to the hall showing you were present and in an instant, soonyoung ran to the couch, “spill.”
“oh my gosh he's so cool like he owns a car and he drives it!” “wow,” seungkwan says unimpressed.
you looked at him up and down before continuing, “we ate at my favorite restaurant and he said he'd order whatever i recommended and he liked my recommendation!” “i thought this was the best date ever but it's really just starting off like any other date.”
"go back and do your work if you're gonna be such a hater!" you stood up. "continue!! just ignore him!" soonyoung demanded, pulling you down.
"after that, we just walked around a park nearby and we just talked and got to know each other. we're not alike but we can agree on so much!" "oh that's actually very sweet." seungkwan commented.
it was sweet.
you got out of your head and finished explaining your day, "eventually he got tired and so we went back to his car and we talked more but it was getting late so i asked him to send me here but on our way here he kept taking the wrong turn, on purpose!" you recalled. it made you laugh just thinking about it.
"where do you find these guys," soonyoung squinted his eyes. it genuinely felt like a romance from a movie no matter how you see it. "manifesting?" you joked.
"well i'm happy you're happy," seungkwan patted your head. you laid your head on his shoulder, "i am."
it was just the first hangout yet you've never felt happier.
or is that just what you wanted to believe and feel?
-
the next day you woke up in their guest room and used your phone. there you found a notification.
「12:09am wonwoo: do you wanna go out tmr?
7:29am yn: hey! sorry just woke up! but yes, let’s go!
wonwoo: it's kinda late?? are you ready for class?
yn: oops
yn: it's okay they won't miss me.
wonwoo: are you in the same building i dropped you off at yesterday?
yn: yea, why?
wonwoo: i'm picking you up. go get ready.」
+
six, current location — seungcheol, jeonghan & joshua’s apartment.
"seungcheol. hey!" the pillow made a comically 'puff!' sound effect as jeonghan hit his oversleeping roommate up. "you're gonna be late, again, get going," his roommate sighed. for the past two days seungcheol had been waking up without you in his bed. that meant, no human alarm clock. he was like a child who needed his mother to wake him up...as weird as that analogy might sound but it was true. seungcheol sat up, eyes still closed.
"by the way, joshua and i are planning to have bbq tonight, is yn coming? i wanna know how much i have to buy."
"i'll send them a text."
"alsoo, why didn't yn come over yesterday?" jeonghan leaned on the doorframe and asked before leaving. "yesterday? they messaged me saying they had a project."
if seungcheol's eyes were open, he'd be able to see jeonghan's bewildered reaction. you lied about your whereabouts, but for what? jeonghan silently kept his composure and reminded, "alright, well let me know about yn at least before 4pm," before running to joshua's room to report the news.
seungcheol lazily grabbed his phone from his bedside table and searched for your contact to message. it was a foreign feeling, he almost never texted you. ever since you two started wherever you had, you were always with him, except for when you were with mingyu of course, not like that lasted long.
「cheol: you coming over today?
cheol: were having bbq.」
+
six.5, current location — wonwoo’s car.
“i think you should invest in those fancy biometric door locks, at least those lock automatically,” wonwoo suggested after you explained all of the times soonyoung forgot to lock his apartment door out of pure stress. he was amazingly entertained by your stories.
you wheezed, “oh my gosh- that’s so smart actually, i’m gonna tell that to them!” you got your phone out to text your group chat with soonyoung and seungkwan, until you saw notifications from him.
「cheol: you coming over today?
cheol: were having bbq.
cheol: think the guys miss you, they keep asking where you are.
cheol: think i miss you too, it's been hard waking up alone.
cheol: hope you finish your project soon.」
you clicked on your chatroom with seungkwan and soonyoung. afterwards, you cleared your notifications.
"so where are we going later?" you turned to wonwoo.
"i don't know actually i didn't know i was going to pick you up in the morning, i was going to brainstorm where i should take you when i got to class."
you blurted a laugh, "brainstorming a date when you should be paying attention in class"
"oh it's a date?" he glanced at you then back to the road. you covered your mouth, you kept calling your outings with wonwoo a date when you were with seungkwan and soonyoung, it just slipped out. "i’m just playing with you," he stated.
you scoffed and leaned into your seat, "so what are your ideas for later?" "i don't know, i haven't gotten to class yet," he shrugged his shoulders. you playfully rolled your eyes, "don't think about it too much, listen to your lecturer. i don't want to be the cause of you failing your classes."
"little late for that, i literally skipped my study group to hang out with you yesterday," he admitted.
you shot back up, "wonwoo!" you said in a whiney tone. he held back a smile as you scolded him for his lack of seriousness towards his school life. it lasted the whole ride until you reached campus.
little did you know, wonwoo had been eyeing you for a while. of course, he'd skip a class or two just to hangout with you. luckily, he found being with you worth the skip.

seven , current location — yn’s favourite cafe.
few days had passed and you still haven’t replied to cheol's messages. maybe you can live a life without him.
-
"order for yn!" joshua called out brightly, he got excited when he got a glimpse of your name on the cup that held the contents of your signature drink. he didn't think he'd see you today at his part-time job, you usually only came on weekends or in the late hours of the weekdays. he hadn't seen your face in a while and he honestly missed your presence in the apartment.
until he realised it was in fact not you ordering.
his expression changed in a flicker of a switch, "what the hell are you doing cheol?"
seungcheol raised a brow, "i'm ordering?"
"ordering yn's usual drink under their name? do you miss them that much that you have turned to impersonating them?" joshua pushed the cup towards his friend.
"i'm not weird like that, i’m gonna give it to them if i can find them today."
the barista created an 'o' with his mouth, he was proud of the effort. he carefully packed your drink into a bag and stuffed in the straw and some tissues. he even snuck in a free lollipop of your favourite flavour before lightly pushing the bag to cheol, "yn's class is a completely opposite to your building, sure you can make it?"
seungcheol scoffed, "of course."
joshua had his elbows on the counter, face resting on his hand. "have fun then, say hi to yn for me," he said in a teasing manner.
seungcheol nodded lazily and got on his phone after waving goodbye to his roommate.

seven.5 , current location — outside your class.
tapping away at your phone, you leaned on the wall outside the class you just finished. it was your last class so you were free for the day but wonwoo’s class was running longer than yours so you had to wait.
he had messaged you saying that he would be the one to go to you and you had no objections since you didn’t even know where his class was anyways. soon as you replied to wonwoo, you heard a familiar voice, a voice you recognised all too well.
“yn,” cheol quietly called out to get your attention.
you instantly stood up straight and placed your phone into your pocket, “cheol? what’s up!…what are you doing here?” your tone sounded mildly excited but astonished at the same time. you furrowed your eyebrows knowing his next class was located on the opposite side of the campus, yet he was here, you couldn't help but question it. “just dropping this off,” he subdued a smile while extending his arm to give you the drink. “hope it gives you energy during your project, how’s that going by the way?”
you held the drink in one hand and the other held tissues cheol provided. your heart sunk as he mentioned the project but you still continued the lie. “wow thanks, this is so sweet cheol! and the projects going well but we’re kinda slow,” you let out a breathy laugh.
“well don’t burn yourself out. if ever you need a break, my door is always open,” he gently reminded. “anyways, i gotta get to class. tell me if you need anything alright, we may not be under the same major but i could probably assist.”
“psh, of course, i have your number.”
he patted your head before leaving. as he walked past you, you got a whiff of his scent. it was a prominent smell, it was easy on your nose and you hate to admit but it was comforting. you felt your chest burn as he disappears from your sight. your heartbeat was rising and you knew it was because of him. time how does he manage to make you feel like this all the time.
you brought the drink closer to your chest and let out a sigh. you read the label which had the contents of your drink printed on. it was completely accurate to what you always order. only cheol could ever remember it. as you took a sip from the drink you started to wonder why you were avoiding him. should you come over tonight? you thought about it until you felt a tap on your shoulder.
you swiftly turned around and you were dragged down back to earth. wonwoo stood behind you with his head tilted with concern on his face, “penny for a thought?”
“wonwoo!” you greeted, “what do you mean?” you questioned after processing what he had said. “you seemed like you were in deep thought. you feeling okay?” he asked as he leaned on the wall beside you.
“never been better," you expressed with a sweet smile.
he nodded and sighed his worry away. his eyes trailed downwards and yours followed. you raised a brow confused but then he pointed downwards with a playful frown, “you got a drink without me?” you giggled and placed your arm around his shoulders, “i’ll go buy you one stop sulking.”

eight , current location — wonwoo's apartment.
wonwoo stepped into his apartment, his footsteps for some reason, felt lighter than the day before. he'd just came back from his outing with you and he couldn’t lie, those hangouts really made his days brighter. he’s smiling just thinking about it.
"you came home late today," his roommate, kim mingyu pointed out as if he were a mother waiting at home, worried sick about his son who goes out too much. in reality, wonwoo and mingyu weren't even close, they just happened to live together cause rent was expensive. but mingyu had always hoped to get closer with wonwoo and he took every chance he could to start a conversation with him.
"yea, was out with someone," wonwoo replied as he hung his bag on one of the dining table chairs.
mingyu got up from the couch and walked to the fridge fiddling with the things inside it, he was actually just closing the distance between him and wonwoo as much as he could. it seemed like today was a good day since usually, wonwoo would just head straight into his room but today he sat at the dining table. he never does that!
mingyu glanced at wonwoo and prolonged the conversation, “like a date?“
“i wouldn’t call it that, more like whatever you do after a talking stage i guess.”
mingyu shot a proud smile and crossed his arms, “no wonder you’ve been so smiley, what’s their name?”
“would you know them?” wonwoo asked but his eyes were on his phone since he was helping you find electronic door locks for your friends door.
“most probably, campus may be big but i know most people.”
“true,” wonwoo looked at mingyu as he nodded in agreement knowing how extroverted his roommate can be, “their names yn,” he answered before returning his eyes to his phone.
a sudden deafening silence washed over the room. mingyu took too long to respond.
wonwoo looked up, “what’s wrong?” he became concerned, wondering what caught the curious cat’s tongue.
there was a clear look of dislike on mingyu’s face as his smile disappeared and the look in his eyes changed.
“yn ln?” the roommate confirmed. wonwoo pursed his lips and looked up to recall, “yeah, i think that’s their last name.”
mingyu shortly laughed but wonwoo could tell it was a type of laugh not for something funny, but for something that was unbelievable, “no fucking way,” mingyu spat.
wonwoo furrowed his eyebrows, he assumed mingyu was just making fun of him, like mingyu thought he wasn’t good enough for you, “is there a problem?” he asked defensively.
“not at all, just, look for someone else, yn’s not worth your time.”
wonwoo’s heart dropped and suddenly his feet felt heavy again.
then again he knew his roommate was a semi brat. in the sense that he’s nice and all but he might hold a grudge if something doesn’t go his way. wonwoo sighed slightly uninterested in the topic, what could he possibly have to say about you?
wonwoo thought, at the very least you must’ve just rejected mingyu and it fucked with his ego big time. in any case wonwoo was always willing to listen but that doesn’t mean he’ll pick sides. “what makes you say that?”
“i get the attraction to yn, i knew them from last semester. i’m sure you’ve heard, they’re a great friend and that may be true i don’t know about that but from what i know, yn isn’t all that great in terms of romance, trust me.”
“what do you know?” wonwoo faced mingyu.
“long story short i’ve went out with yn last sem and they were fun but, yn has some ties i’m pretty sure they haven’t let go off even until today. my relationship with yn didn't last long because of said ties,”
“can you stop beating around the bush? just tell me exactly what happened between you and yn,” wonwoo firmly spoke.
mingyu gave a glare to wonwoo as he rested his jaw on his hand, recalling the story, “there’s this guy yn's super close with, you should know him, his names choi seungcheol, he's from a different department but he's popular. he and yn has been in a whole will they won’t they period, you sure you wanna go out with someone like that?"
"that was last sem, a lot could change in a few months.”
mingyu scorned, bobbing his head forward, "i literally saw yn walk to his class a few days ago, i don’t think anything has changed, regardless, why would you go out with someone with a past like that?"
"because people can change. plus, i’m not a child, what happens between yn and i is for me to deal with,” wonwoo spoke without even batting an eye to the taller man.
“suit yourself,” mingyu shook his head and walked away. he thought today was the day he could finally get closer with his roommate and ease the awkwardness but today, the distance has never been bigger.
wonwoo picked up some food and a bottle of water before descending into his room hoping that would be enough so that he wouldn't have to cross paths with mingyu for awhile. he felt a bit frustrated. he knew in his heart that you were good but then again, why would mingyu lie to him?

nine , current location — wonwoo’s car.
it was the next day, wonwoo had offered to pick you up again.
wonwoo tapped to the beat of the song on the radio onto the wheel of his car while waiting for you. until, from the corner of his eye, he saw you ecstatically running down the steps of your building.
he launched forward slightly to reach your car door, opening it from he inside, "hi yn."
"wonwoo!" you greeted energetically. he enjoyed hearing it but, at the same time, there was a tinge of bitterness as it rolled into his ears when he heard your voice today.
you sat down with a grin and you went on talking about your morning, the usual.
you usually did the talking as wonwoo listened.
and wonwoo was known for being quiet, but this level of quietness was unusual, even for him.
"wonwoo?" you called out. it was as if he was mentally elsewhere.
he was. he was stuck with his thoughts since last night. in his head, there were lingering questions about your past relationships. do you know a seungcheol? did you even know who mingyu was?
"sorry, didn't get enough sleep last night," he laughed it off.
shit, whatever mingyu told him that night stuck to him.

ten , current location — college cafeteria.
“gosh- yn i’ll change the date for you!” chan, your peer or more like your little brother held onto your forearms. he was sitting across you and he was practically off his seat convincing you to do something for him.
“you’ll what?” you snickered at his words.
“when are you free? i’ll move the party to that date.”
your hand that held your food fell to the table out of disbelief, “now why would you stoop that low chan?”
“i wanna meet new people and you have the best connections out of everyone in campus.”
“so you're using me?”
“you're fun as well," he innocently fluttered his eyes.
"then you'll have no problems with only me attending then?" you smiled like the joker.
he scoffed and rolled his eyes, "at least bring seungcheol and his friends while you're at it, if they go then surely, tons of people will come."
your eyes widened at his words but you could only bare to sigh, "you've become greedy chan."
"does that mean you'll bring him?"
you laughed, sighing softly until you remembered a tiny problem.
you had 5 unread messages from cheol.
but perhaps, someone other than cheol could come.

ten.5 , current location — college.
you and wonwoo sat on the grass. it had became a staple spot you both met at since it was conveniently close to your classes. you were sitting across each other sharing some convenience store food. you decided to bring the question up.
“hey do you know lee chan?”
“yea, why?” wonwoo was still picking on the grass but he made eye contact with you. “he has this party on friday night, are you interested in going?”
wonwoo stayed silent so the fear of rejection creeped up on you.
“you don’t have to go, i’m just offering an invite.”
“think im busy that day, sorry,” he said as he pursed his lips in guilt.
you gave a reassuring smile and brushed his hair with your fingers, “it’s alright.”
“im really sorry yn.”
you let a mischievous grin slip and played with him a bit. you placed your face into your hands, covering it hinting that you were upset.
“ahh yn don’t be like that.”
you spoke in a whiny tone to add to the act, “but this should’ve been our first party together—“
but suddenly his arms wrapped around your waist and he placed his head on yours.
he didn’t know what else to do but this.
“we’ll get to the next one, okay?” he does want to go it just happened that he can’t this time.
honestly you did want to feel disappointed that wonwoo couldn’t come. but you didn’t.
even with his words and actions that were meant to tell you ‘you have my full interest’. you didn’t feel anything from it.
you didn’t feel shit for him.
-
you’ve wounded up here again because there was no way you were going to attend a party alone.
cause how could you say no to chan.
this was for chan.
you’re only messaging him for chan.
「yn: do you want to go to a party?
cheol: depends, who’s is it?
yn: my little brother
cheol: …? did your parents conceive another child
yn: he’s not my biological brother
cheol: adopted?
yn: it’s lee chan
cheol: 💀
cheol: when is it?」
+
eleven , current location — lee chan’s party.
cheol’s arm snaked around your waist, “ready to go in?” he asked. “yea,” you confidently answered. this was like the thousandth party you’ve attended, why did he have to ask.
he opened the door and the once muffled cheers were heard perfectly. you flinched slightly at the noise to which he chuckled at.
you playfully rolled your eyes at him and walked in.
it reeked of alcohol already. it wasn’t as crowded as other parties you’ve attended but it was certainly something that could be considered a party.
cheol kept you close, having your back sandwiched to his chest as he held you by your shoulders. slowly, you passed through all the people and found your way to the drinks.
cheol instantly poured you your favourite drink and placed it in your hands as he swiftly poured himself one as well. you tapped your cup against his and downed it all in one go. no matter if you could actually handle it or if it was just for show, it still entertained seungcheol every time.
“yn! you’re here!” chan ran to you excitedly. “of course, why wouldn’t i?” you giggled.
“thank you for coming seungcheol!” he suddenly bowed to which seungcheol quickly pushed up the younger boy to stand up straight. “you’re nice, good thing you didn’t take after this mean senior,” cheol teased as he patted your head.
“hey you have never bowed to me ever, what’s so special about cheol?” you brought up to chan.
“he’s him, you’re you,” he coldly said. you turned to cheol who was covering his cheeky grin with his cup.
from afar it looked like you were scolding your husband and son.
“well enjoy the party, let me know if you guys want other drinks i’ll get it for you!” chan said as he skipped away with a smile.
“well obviously you’re not biologically related to someone like him,” cheol leaned on the kitchen counter as he turned to you with a smug look on his face.
“what’s that supposed to mean?” you questioned as you took a sip from your cup.
“he’s sweet.”
“what does that make me?”
“mm..” he hummed.
slowly, he leaned in towards you, closing he distance between you two as he casually placed his hand on your hip. pulling you closer, he held your chin and tilted your head upwards.
there on your neck, he placed a soft kiss.
“ahh, you’re sweeter than him.”
you felt a burn in your heart.
you squeezed the drink in your hand, thinking of how to respond. but you couldn’t even think.
next thing you knew, your body reacted in its own.
you grabbed his hand that held your face and leaned in, kissing him on the lips.
it must’ve been weeks since you’ve done this.
he parted away from you, furrowing his brows. as far as he remembered, he was always the one who initiated kisses.
not like it was a rule but this was new. perhaps you missed him?
you couldn’t lie, you did.
he held you by your chin, taking a good look at your helpless expression but as he saw a pout form on your lips, how could he not give you what you wanted?
he pulled you closer, continuing the kiss.
gosh, he still had you wrapped around your finger.
it was sensual and passionate. you placed your arms around his neck pulling him closer as if he was going away but his hands softly caressed and slid against your back reassuring you he was here to stay.
you parted away, letting out a breathe. “i’ve missed you,” you blurted as you rested your head into the crook of his neck.
he smirked at your words as he patted your head, “you did?”
you couldn’t face him with how desperate you were being but nodded to answer his question.
“can’t be helped, you had that project right,” he took another sip from his cup.
you clenched your jaw and scrunched cheol’s jacket in your fist. that lie was lingered with guilt in your heart.
“yn? you barely finished your cup, don’t tell me you’re already tipsy,” he giggled as he glided his fingertips on your back.
suddenly, you stood up straight, placing your cup in his hands and walked off, “i’m going to the washroom.”
seungcheol didn’t think much of it, he just nodded and bopped his head to the music and waited for your return.
-
like any other party, there was a line but luckily, it wasn’t long. you decided to go on your phone to pass time while waiting but it wasn’t necessary since someone tapped on your shoulder.
you swung your head to look at who it was, it was someone you weren’t expecting.
it was a girl named mira, behind mira was a few other girls, probably her clique. you knew her due to being in the same class but you didn’t know much about her or the group in general, but it was evident they wanted something.
you leaned back into the wall confused on why she didn’t start talking despite you giving her attention. “can i help you?” you tilted your head.
she seemed hesitant as she fiddled with the ends of her clothes but eventually, she spoke when her friend nudged her, “uhm, you’re close with choi seungcheol right?”
‘duh, did you not see us earlier?’ is what you would’ve said but you had some decency.
“i am, why?” you crossed your arms.
“you two aren’t dating or anything, right,” a friend behind her smirked as she walked forward, asserting some dominance.
“what’s it to you?” you looked back at your phone after realising what they were here for. this was actually the first time people were running to you asking for favours for seungcheol. you’ve always experienced people asking for help with jeonghan, joshua and others but never seungcheol.
and you had underlying feelings for cheol. not like anyone knew about it but that wasn’t he point. it’s the fact that these girls clearly knew there must’ve been something between you and cheol, yet they’re still ambushing you hoping for a tip. that shit irked you.
“mira here wants his number. since you two aren’t dating, it’s okay to give it right?” the friend answered.
you looked at her up and down before going back on your phone. cheol would hate a girl that was too shy to ask personally.
you were thinking of just ignoring them but by then, the washroom was finally free so just before you walked in you replied with a firm, “no.”
you could hear them clicking their tongue as they walked away and heard the rage and it made you giggle a bit.
but god, your possessiveness over cheol only made it ever so clear that you weren’t over him.
-
when you walked out the toilet they were already gone and you made your way back to seungcheol.
“you ‘kay?” cheol brushed your hair as you fit yourself between his legs and rested your head on his chest. “yeah.”
he gave back your cup and used her free hand to hold yours. you looked down at your interwined hands and couldn’t hold back a smile.
then you wondered, if cheol was asked for his phone number directly, would he have given it?
you and cheol were pretty open to each other so you had no trouble bringing it up.
“cheol, this girl wants your number, should i give it?” you titled your head upwards to look at him.
he squinted his eyes at your words but he slowly responded, “i mean you can?”
ah. he’d accept it.
or so you thought.
just as your heart sunk, he continued, “i’m probably not going to reply to them but you can,” he chuckled.
you quickly turned and faced him, “huh? why not?”
“cause, i have you?” he raised a brow.
suddenly it’s as if the music had stopped.
did cheol actually think of you two as exclusive for once?
you couldn’t take your eyes off him but he didn’t think much of the way you were blatantly staring at him cause you did it often.
“wanna go dance?” he twirled your hair with his finger.
you snapped out of your daze, “uh- ha? since when do we dance at parties?” you laughed. you both usually only went to parties for the drinks, the vibes and nothing more but cheol felt like partying tonight.
“don’t know, just feel like it,” he gave a gummy smile.
“let’s go then,” you pulled him with a grin as he followed behind you.
you actually got it wrong earlier when you thought that he would hate a girl that was too shy because the correct version of that statement was that cheol would hate it if anyone but you tries to get with him.
you two got to the dance floor, residing somewhere at the side and instantly got into it but you fell into embarrassment as you moved to the beat of the music. cheol on the other hand seemed to have a plethora of dance skills up his sleeve. in this moment, his cold aura was gone. as he saw you covering your face, he pulled you out of your shell and held your hands. he guided you and placed your arms around his shoulders and you two swayed to the trap music as if it were classical jazz. the situation was slightly comedic, you both got a good laugh out of it.
it was these moments you shared with cheol that made you fall in love with him. and cheol would share this side of him with you and you only. if it were anyone else he probably wouldn’t feel comfortable enough to do so.
you both were practically gasping for air after laughing. you looked at him in awe as he did too. naturally, he leaned in for a kiss.
and his kisses felt like home. this was where you were meant to be.
the moment was perfect.
click, the sound of a camera shutter echoed but it was faint. it was way too faint for you to notice.

twelve , current location — who’s apartment???
you went home with cheol that night. not like you had a choice since you were out of it.
“oh we’re here! kwaan, soonyoungie?” you slurred as the front door opened.
like meerkats, their heads turned simultaneously to the source of the sound.
“yn?” jeonghan jumped off the couch and ran to the front door excitedly. he prominently blurted out an ugly laugh that echoed through the buildings hallway as he got a good look at your face, “shit, they’re so fucking shit faced, what happened?”
“happened to get a reality check mid dancing. after that they proceeded to drink every cup they saw,” seungcheol laughed.
“are they good?” joshua slowly walked towards the three of you as he helped seungcheol bring you in. you were hanging on seungcheol by a thread. seungcheol had to continuously fling your arm around his shoulders so that he could somewhat carry you. even in the car he had to monitor and hold you up by placing his arms across your chest as an extra seatbelt to hold you upright cause if you were to hit your head on the dashboard, you’d be gone.
“i’m gonna freshen them up, can you guys get me a damp towel?” seungcheol looked to his roommates and surely, they followed the request as it was for you.
seungcheol rested you on his bed and wiped your face wth the damp towel jeonghan prepared. he even changed your shirt cause it reeked of alcohol.
soon enough he was laying beside you, joshua and jeonghan spectated at the side of the bed.
“so, yn’s back huh?” joshua crossed his arms.
“yeah,” seungcheol bluntly said as he ran his finger through your hair.
jeonghan had a smirk on his face, “you seem touchier with yn, what happened?”
he eyed the two of them, slightly annoyed but he knew they’d never shut up about it unless he gave a proper answer. “i guess you could say i don’t want to take them for granted anymore.”
“shit, really?“ joshua smiled widely.
“what’s when the reaction?” cheol stopped stroking your hair as he saw the roommates devilish expression.
“nothing it’s just, isn’t this you basically saying you admit you like yn?”
seungcheol’s eyes drifted back to you and he looked at you sincerely.
“yea, i like yn.”
joshua took a breathe and nodded. “glad you could admit it,” he clapped his hands quietly.
“well i’ll leave you two to it,” he said as he patted his friends back and exited the room with jeonghan following him.
there it was.
choi seungcheol likes you.
actually if he was a bit more honest, he would’ve admitted he loves okay but perhaps it was a bit too early for that.
but he was sure of it. after all, those few weeks you were gone must’ve been the most tough to get through without you there to brighten his day.
after that day you didn’t stay for dinner, seungcheol couldn’t lie or hide the fact he was upset by it but hey, what’s it to him? you’re not his, and why should his mood matter if you were there or not.
the second day you were gone, you didn’t even pass by his class like you usually would. he couldn’t help but wonder where were you the whole day. he’d been spending the day refreshing his feed like a fool waiting for an update of you on social media but he was mildly proud that you must’ve been so focused on your project that you didn’t go online. he loved an academically focused person.
but maybe it was for the better. seungcheol never wanted to fall for you. and seungcheol always thought that with the distance between you and him, these meek feelings would fade. but he couldn’t be more wrong.
because few days had passed and he literally found himself at your favourite cafe. was he finding excuses to see you? no, he was there cause he thought you needed a treat especially since you were working so hard on this project. but by this point he couldn’t deny his feelings. choi seungcheol liked you. seeing your face again after not-so-many-days. he felt like he was at home. the way his heart fluttered at the way you cutely turned your head when you heard his voice. your smile that shined. he wanted to call you his.
and ultimately, seungcheol could not deny his feelings any longer. especially not when he jumped out of his bed after receiving a text from you. he was so incredibly lucky that day. he was so lucky you texted him and he was so lucky jeonghan and joshua wasn’t home to hear his cheer of joy.
he was even luckier today since the person he loved most was finally back in his bed.
“kwannie, i need water,” you rolled over, facing seungcheol. he held back his laugh, you really thought you were at seungkwan’s place?
“here,” he placed the cup to your lips as you drank momentarily.
you stopped drinking and seungcheol placed the cup at the bedside table. his hands traced the outline of your body.
all that filled in his head was that if he was to make things official with you, there was no way he was going to fuck it up. he believed that you belong with him.
-
you woke up, head pounding. you swear you might die from the pain.
you mustered up the strength to sit up straight. you took a breathe in and that’s what woke you up. the scent of your surroundings that was one of a kind, you instantly became aware of the situation.
gosh you ended up sleeping in his bed again?
but you weren’t too bothered. there was a slight feeling of comfort that this is where you woke up.
you freshened yourself up in the washroom then walked outside the room.
you stood close to the door and you could hear someone in the kitchen but other than that there was no person in sight.
“looking for seungcheol?” joshua’s head peeped out from the kitchen giving you a startle.
“shit joshua— uhm yea, where is he?”
“not sure, he left a bit in a hurry but i’m sure he’ll be back.”
you hummed and lightly smiled, walking to the kitchen to get a glass of water. you leaned by the stove joshua was cooking at and he glanced at you. “want me to cook you something?”
“i think i’ll just have a bowl of cereal.”
he was amused, you always had cereal at their place for some reason even if it was night time. “go for it,” joshua grabbed the box of your favourite cereal from the cupboard above him. they always made a mental note to buy it when doing groceries despite you being the only one who ate it.
as you poured yourself a bowl, joshua started a conversation.
“so, not like i don’t like that you’re here, i'm actually glad but, i thought you were getting closer with wonwoo?”
shit.
you forgot all about him.
“oh well i was more or less hanging out with him in the friendly sense yknow.”
joshua tilted his head, listening intently, “i see.”
you also completely forgot joshua and jeonghan had full knowledge about you going out with someone that wasn’t cheol yet they’re treating you as if nothing happened. you couldn’t help but wonder why.
“hey, did you think it was weird i went out with wonwoo?” you couldn’t hold back your curiosity.
joshua’s eyes were focused on the dish he was preparing but he still answered wholeheartedly, “not at all, i mean you said it yourself you went out with wonwoo in the friendly sense, right?”
you went silent and joshua didn’t miss a beat to tease you, “or is that not the case?” he asked with wide eyes.
you were appalled and could only let out a nervous laugh. eventually joshua felt bad and told you his honest opinion.
“regardless if you were or not, you and seungcheol were never exclusive, so why would it be weird?” he asked as he faced you. you sullenly nodded your head as you followed him to the dining table with your meals so that you could sit.
“shua?”
“yea?”
“does cheol know i went out with wonwoo?”
he was just about to take a bite of his meal but he couldn’t help but laugh at your question. “are you afraid he does?”
you nodded a yes as you took a bite of your cereal.
“yn, do you like seungcheol?”
you were once again taken aback. no one has ever asked you if you liked cheol. it was always are you dating him or something of the sort but never an explicit, do you like him.
well it’s not like you were fighting wars to hide it but you just never wanted to answer it. but what was the point of lying now.
“yea.”
joshua let out a breath and smiled. “glad you could admit it.”
“you could tell?”
“i mean. i understand the concept of friends with benefits but you and seungcheol seem beyond it.”
you tapped your spoon on the milk, taking in joshua’s words.
“so you’re afraid seungcheol’s knows you went out with wonwoo because you think seungcheol would drop you afterwards?” he tried to puzzle the pieces together.
you expressed a yes and he sighed. “well i can’t blame you, you must’ve been tired of waiting for seungcheol, right?”
you finally raised your head up. that’s exactly how you felt.
he giggled at your expression, he could tell you’ve been bottling this in.
“well yn, what’s your plan for now?”
“i don’t know. but i think firstly, i need to talk to wonwoo.”
joshua rested his chin in between his fingers, he wasn’t expecting that but he could see where you were going with it.
“well i support you, if you need help i’m here.”
you acknowledged his words with a smile and coincidentally, the front door opened.
you heard a plastic bag rustling and sounds of shoes tapping on the floor, there cheol stood, surprised to see you awake.
“hey, eating breakfast without me?” he pouted.
“where were you?” you crossed your arms.
he scowled and swung the plastic bag in front of your face before taking a seat beside you, “i was buying you some stuff that might help with your hangover.”
ah, that’s right, he always bought you stuff like this.
your eyes lingered in his in awe. he was too busy reading the contents of the things he bought to notice.
“your head alright?”
“a bit.”
“okay well you can take this after you’ve eaten then,” he pointed towards one of the pills as he patted your head.
you and seungcheol were never exclusive. but you wished you were.
and maybe you could.
cause his touch felt like home. being here by his side felt like home.
suddenly the regret of your decisions seeped in. what the fuck have you done.
+
thirteen , current location — wonwoo’s room.
wonwoo was just having a peaceful friday night. he always spent his friday nights like these, it was a way to recharge before another week of school falls upon him.
but for some reason, he couldn’t help but wonder should he be at the party with you. wonwoo was no stranger to your general character.
he knew you were pretty popular, he never knew for what reasons but you were still always humble about it. he knew that many people found you good looking cause he was one of those people. he couldn’t tell what type of person you’d be but as he hung out with you, he realised there was so much more to you than looks.
cause you had humour, you had drive and you had passion. sure it’s not rare to find people like that but to wonwoo, someone who likes to keep to himself, found himself wanting to be with you. that meant something to him.
cause wonwoo has tried to date but no one has appealed to him as much as you have.
and so wonwoo also knew that you liked partying hence why, if he was to prolong his relationship with you, shouldn’t he be making efforts to be with you?
until that text popped up.
「mingyu: sent an attachment」
a clearly zoomed in photo of you in seungcheol’s arms, kissing.
parts of him was disgusted at his roommate for taking photos of you without permission.
plus, the reasoning of why mingyu sent it was annoying. it was like a big slap of ‘i told you’ onto wonwoo.
but honestly there wasn’t any pain felt as the image projected into his brain.
because wonwoo wasn’t that dumb.
he may have been in denial about that seungcheol guy existing but he was not dumb.
wonwoo has noticed the way you stare at your phone as if you’re waiting for someone to text you. he’s noticed the way you get so frazzled when you’re at campus hanging out with wonwoo, it was like you were expecting someone to show up.
he’s also noticed the widgets of you and another guy on your phone that you never got rid of. he just assumed it must’ve been a guy best friend but as it turns out, those photo widgets were selfies of you and seungcheol.
wonwoo knew you would never be his. he knew it since the day you asked to get coffee or lunch with him because though you were with him, through the lack of eye contact, lack of reciprocation of advances, wonwoo didn't need a hint to know your heart was or must've been with someone else. it only solidified when mingyu brought up your past. after that, there was no denying, he had no chance with you.
but even with how things ended up, he’s embarrassed to say that he would say yes if you asked to get coffee or lunch again.
because you were a good first date.
but the thing about dates is that they always come to an end, right.
he realised that as he woke up the next morning and all that filled his mind was that he needed to talk about it with you.
because if he didn't end things now, he might just continue being with you despite knowing there was someone else in the picture.
but he was better than that, so he texted you.
「wonwoo: hey, i need to talk to you, in person.
yn: oh, is everything alright?
wonwoo: yea
yn: okay, where are we meeting?」
well. he enjoyed it while it lasted.
fourteen , current location — some cafe.
you both agreed on meeting at a cafe nearby campus so that it wouldn’t be too confusing.
you got there first, sitting comfortably while texting wonwoo where you were for some direction.
though you sat comfortably, there was an unsettling feeling lingering. cause you couldn’t guess what wonwoo possibly wanted to talk about.
but he showed up and in your eyes, he seemed normal.
he ordered a drink and soon sat in front of you.
“hi wonwoo," you plastered on a smile.
"hi yn," he returned the smile.
"so what did you want to talk about?"
he swirled his drink with a spoon, he seemed hesitant to start but he just wanted to get it over with, any longer and he might just chicken out and act like nothing happened.
"well i’ll be straightforward with you so be honest with me, are you seeing someone right now?" he asked not threateningly but more in a, 'let me understand you' way.
you were taken aback. out of all of the things wonwoo could've spoken about, wonwoo questioning your relationship status was something you didn't expect.
what possibly made him ask this.
"why are you asking?"
“well i have this roommate, he seems to know a bit too much about you. when he found out you and i were hanging out, he didn’t really like it. he wounded up sending me a photo of you and another guy at the party last night.”
fuck, the situation was really bad. it was out of your control.
especially with the way yesterday’s events rolled into your head, you and seungcheol were so close. you could only imagine what the photo portrayed.
your head instantly shot down and you could only apologise.
you did notice the ways wonwoo hinted he liked you. you couldn't imagine how wonwoo was feeling in this moment.
“i’m sorry wonwoo.”
“i don’t really know why you’re saying sorry,” he softly chuckled as he leaned back into his chair. “it’s not like you and i are dating.”
he was right, yet, you felt so much guilt.
“i’m only asking because i didn’t know you were seeing someone,” he continued.
“well i’m not actually exclusive with him,” you muttered.
his eyes showed his shock, that kinda sucked to hear, “so are you like this with everyone?”
“no! no, it’s just, i wasn’t seeing him during the time you and i were hanging out, i promise—“
wonwoo cut you off, he didn’t want you to be stressed over this, especially not when you and him weren’t exclusive either, “yn, it’s okay, whether you were seeing him or not, i don’t have a say in that. besides, your outings with me were only platonic right?”
as much as neither of you found the outings platonic, it was technically the bitter truth.
“i know but, i liked hanging out with you,” you said with some sort of desperation in your voice.
“me too.”
“i liked you wonwoo.”
“but you love him, right?”
your eyes were glued to the table, you swear you could hear your heartbeat in your ears.
“it’s okay, we tried,” wonwoo patted your head.
you were always the one who took the lead in conversations so he’s never seen you so silent. and your silence was worrying to him.
with sincere eyes, wonwoo got to your eye level and smiled, “i don’t resent you yn.”
he was so gentle with you, he made you believe you did nothing wrong.
“really?” you lifted up your head.
he had a smile plastered on the whole time which was comforting at the very least but at the same time, it stung you, cause how could he be so calm about this indirect rejection. on top of it all, you acted without thinking about how this affects wonwoo.
but he answered with such kindness, it killed you.
“yea? i still think you’re really cool, sure it’s a shame we didn’t work out but i can’t be mad at you for finding someone else. well if anything, i’m happy for you, i think you’re lucky.”
“lucky?”
“like, to find someone is lucky, not everyone gets to experience love like that at this age. i mean, i don’t know if your relationship with him is like that. but i just hope that when you find someone that gives you their all in the future, you don’t take it for granted because you deserve the best.”
"i hear you wonwoo, thank you."
wonwoo always knew what to say. it’s truly unfortunate you weren’t in love with him but, the least you could do right now was oblige to his hopes.
fifteen , current location — on the sidewalk.
‘you’re lucky.’
if anything you were lucky to have met wonwoo because without him, you wouldn’t have realised that all that you were looking for was right in front of you.
you’ve been holding back for so long and you’ve lost and hurt people because of it, you were done with that.
most of all, you were tired of acting like you weren’t in love with cheol.
the sun was disappearing and the streetlights were starting to light up but you couldn’t go to sleep until you saw him. your favourite cafe was somewhere cheol could reach quickly. you hurriedly walked on the sidewalk as you made you way to the cafe while simultaneously finding cheol’s contact to call him. as it was you calling, he picked up within one beep.
“yes yn? whats up—“ “meet me at my favourite cafe right now,” you cut him off.
you’d probably never find out but his heart dropped at an alarming speed as he heard you words. nevertheless, he responded in a heartbeat, “i’m coming.”
-
surely, he arrived in just a few minutes.
he easily spotted you awkwardly standing outside the cafe. he jogged towards you, hands in his pockets. his dimples deepened as he greeted you with a smile, “were you bored of something?” he laughed. it was common for you to drag seungcheol out at night so it wasn’t like he was weirded out by this spontaneous call.
“i just dumped a guy,” you blurted. i mean, more like he dumped you but that wasn’t important.
seungcheol’s eyes widened and instantly his smile faded, “what?“
“i dumped a guy because i don’t think i could be with someone that wasn’t you,” your head was tilted down as you dug cresents into your arm. you don’t think you could continue to see cheol without telling him this.
he took a step towards you as he took your hands into his, "what?"
"why have you never asked me out?" you looked at him woefully as you squeezed his hands.
seungcheol didn't know how to react. it was as if his dreams were coming true with your indirect confession but you were clearly hurt and he hated that he made you feel this way.
he knew he strayed from his feelings from you but that was only because he always thought that you were made for someone else.
but perhaps that someone was him.
"i kept going out with people but every fucking time, i only end up thinking about you," you spoke as if you were frustrated, and you were.
it was almost as if the way you felt was irreparable. but he caressed your face with his hand and he looked into your eyes sincerely.
“i’m sorry if i ever made you feel like you were unwanted, that was truly never my intentions yn, believe me,” his face was full of visible concern, fear even. but he continued, filling the silence of the tranquil night, “yn, i’m sorry for making you wait. if it’s not too late i’m willing to make something out of us as long you are aswell.
you blinked your eyes unsure if this was reality but the grip his hand hand on yours was like a pinch telling you this was all real.
“you’re willing to try?”
“always, you’re all i’ve never wanted.”
“like, exclusively?”
“as we always should’ve been,” he breathed out a smile.
there was a sting in your eyes, it felt like tears were forming in your eyes but it wasn’t enough to form a tear drop. but that’s how happy you were.
it’s what you’ve wanted to hear this whole time.
“so yn, will you be my significant other?”
your face that was so close to his was still in his hand, his other hand held your hand. there was no space between you yet you were comfortable. how could this not be the person you’re meant to be with.
you finally let out a smile and answered, “yes cheol, i’m yours.”
naturally with your face so close to his, he pulled you in for a kiss. but unlike the other kisses, this one was soft and sweet. it was new and it felt like a new beginning.
‘fuck, it was that easy,’ is what you both thought as you two parted.
you two pursed your lips as you looked at the ground, embarrassed at the situation as if you were in elementary school doing something scandalous but cheol knew how to move on. “let’s go in and get a drink?” he tilted his head towards the cafe.
“at this time? what are you gonna get from a cafe?” you furrowed your brows.
“i don’t know? a victory doughnut?” he sarcastically spat.
you could only let out a laugh. he stuck his hand out for you to hold and you held it with no hesitance as he guided you two into the cafe.
“ok now tell me more about that guy you dumped.”
“is that really something you want to talk about right now? also he dumped me.”
“really? i should thank him or something, what’s his name?”
you won the guy wanted most at the cost of wonwoo, you’re the one who should thank him.
“jeon wonwoo,” you answered.
“pro gamer jeon wonwoo?! how did you not leave me for him?” cheol’s eyes widened.
“hey, what the fuck?”
by his side, talking about how to move forward, it may have been complicated but it was worth going through as long as it meant you two would be together.
in your favour, that night, you went back to his place and into his bed.
and in cheol’s favour, you’re in his arms.

I was thinking on how obsessed I am with this side character (Og!Cale, my beloved) who is so interesting but has so little appearances that, if not for the role he plays on the plot, he could be classified as an extra—
But then that reminded me about Miss Not So Sidekick, and now I want a crossover with this two.
I mean, og!Cale in that crack fantasy world. I mean, an AU where both Tboah and Mnss worlds are the same. I mean, an AU where Lcf is kind of happening but Krs in his og boddy and og Cale is still around.
I don't really care. I just need og!Cale to interact with this bunch of absolute weirdos.
I need him to meet Latte and befriend her. To eat popcorn together and witness whatever mayhem the main cast is going through.
I need him to meet Ibelin and call her out on her bs. Just after he had messed with her, of course.
I need him to meet that bl loving princess and become secret book buddies. So what if she has her genre preferences? He finally has someone to talk with about the books he reads without ruining his act.
I need Arwin to find Latte and Og!Cale trying to be the peanut gallery and not getting jealous because the first thing he hears him say is something like "the duke's looks are most of my appeal, but his personality is so bad I just want to smash his face with a chair". Okay, so Latte's friend is not a rival. Got it.
I want Og!Cale to compete against Peridot in every chance he gets. And win. Just because he doesn't like her and sje gives him the jibbies. Trying to make her break character is his new hobby. Then she pisses him off.
I want both casts to clash together for a bit and Og!Cale pretending it has nothing to do with him.
I want Choi Han and Kenneth to meet each other and have mutual hate at first sight.
I want Og!Cale to end either with Rondemio or his sister. The princess wins in both cases.

The Birth of a Hero was weird...
Putting aside the fact that it was actually written to be a guidebook for Kim Rok Soo, it was so obvious how weird The Birth of a Hero was as a 'novel' looking back, especially when you re-read the early chapters of TCF. It was weirdly detailed and descriptive about what should've been minor or unnecessary information if it was actually a novel.
For example, The Indestructible Shield, which was an ancient power that wasn't owned or found by anyone in the novel but just so happens to be in the Henituse Territory. It wasn't related at all to the main characters, but TBOAH went into detail about the ancient power's history, its original owner, its location, how to obtain it, and the response to expect once you feed the man-eating tree. I wonder whether Kim Rok Soo ever questioned why Nelan Barrow would write so much about something 'not important' while reading TBOAH, if whether or not the author just decided to ramble about world lore he made up but couldn't tie into the main story. Kim Rok Soo is better than me because I would've gotten really bored.
Also, TBOAH didn't just get into detail about the Ancient Powers either, since it also had a LOT to say about the Original Cale Henituse, his family, and the territory in general. From the very beginning, when Kim Rok Soo wakes up in the body of Cale Henituse, he goes to the bathroom to find the full body mirror the Original Cale Henituse had that was mentioned in the novel. That is INCREDIBLY random information to mention about a minor villain whose sole purpose was to get beaten up by the protagonist. But it doesn't happen just once. When Cale asks Deruth for an allowance, he recalls that the Original Cale also received a large allowance but the exact amount was never mentioned in the novel. Later on, when Ron serves Cale lemonade instead of cold water, he recalls again how the Original Cale hated sour things just like himself.
If he really was inside of the novel, he knew that there should be a large mirror inside.
As expected, the full body mirror was inside the bathroom. Cale Henituse, who had a lot of interest in his appearance and physique, had this mirror set up in here. Nobody else in the household had such a mirror.
The novel did mention that Cale received a large allowance, but it did not mention the exact amount. However, he could realistically understand how large it was based on the amount listed on the cheque.
He really is an insidious man. He knows that, just like Kim Rok Soo, the original Cale hates sour things. But he still chose to bring lemonade, which would take more work to prepare than cold water. [...]
It's pretty obvious by now that TBOAH went deeper into the Original Cale Henituse's character than a normal novel should have in just the first volume, like how he despised gangsters and scammers or how he had horrible aim when drunk, and his relationships with Ron and his family. Kim Rok Soo would recall reading about flashbacks to Cale being woken up by a servant that wasn't Ron which led to a ton of swearing, Cale breaking everything at his spot in the bar once, and Cale getting a scar on his side while drinking the night before meeting Choi Han. The novel also mentioned things that no one else but the Original Cale Henituse knew about, such as how he had high alcohol tolerance but just flushed easily which made people assume he was lightweight. if I were the one reading TBOAH, I would've started to wonder whether the author was planning to make Cale Henituse an important character later on (and maybe he was, but there were only 5 volumes).
The Henituse Family wasn't mentioned as much as Cale was, except for how people pushed the 15-year-old Basen to be the head of the family and how Basen started acting as the family's successor since 2 years ago, but it's odd enough that Nelan Barrow decided to describe characters that Choi Han never even meets (if we assume he only encounters Cale and Deruth and no one else in the family). There were even descriptions of the slums in the Henituse Territory and the Henituse Family business, like???
All of it further cements the fact that The Birth of a Hero was very much a guidebook written for Kim Rok Soo, who was going to swap bodies with Cale Henituse, and to help him adjust to his new life and plan for the future. The novel was fucking suspicious from the start!!!
#trash of the count's family#lout of the counts family#cale henituse#kim rok soo#original cale henituse#thebirthofahero#choi jung gun#nelan barrow#tboah#it felt off since my first read but it made a bit more sense on my re-read#50% of TBOAH was about Choi Han's adventures#the other 50% was CJG rambling about random side character facts and world lore

Cale and the Soos but Gen Z
(ft. Choi Han, Alberu and Rosalyn)
(Part 1) (Part 2)
Cale: when I say I have "main character energy," I mean the nerdy introvert with anxiety and a general distaste for humans - Shapeshifter: *transforms to look like Cale* Cale: Okay, are you like BLIND? You look nothing like me. First off, I'm way taller. Secondly, I DO NOT look so sleep deprived and lastly, if you could drag comb through that hair you're like a 7 on a good day and I've been told I'm a constant 10. -
Cale: Babygirl I have health problems that would make a grown man cry- yeah of course I'm still going to work what are you talking about
-
Cale: I love having trauma from an alarmingly young age because when I can't remember stuff from my childhood I get to play a game called "Is This Normal Memory Loss From Growing Up, Or Do I Have Severe Trauma-Induced Memory Repression?" Choi Jung Soo: Oh word Alberu: Preach Choi Han: Fr Eruhaben: Genuinely what in the- Sui Khan: Louder Eruhaben: YOU ARE 13 WHA-
-
Sui Khan: 'Person of interest' is almost too flattering. Sui Khan: Like, if the police were to pound on my door and go, 'A man has been murdered in your building and you are a person of interest,' I'd be like, 'Moi? Oh, do go on.' Cale pointing: You see where I got it from?
-
Rosalyn, eating cake: No wonder Marie Antoinette didn't give a fuck, this shit is good Cale: so true girl
-
Cale: when Billie Eillish said "I cant escape the way I love you" every gen z kid with attachment issues felt that Alberu: So you felt that? Cale: I felt that too much Alberu: Also who is Billie Eillish? Choi Jung Soo slamming the door open: bITC-
-
Cale: bitches b like “I'm baby” but have childhood trauma and neglect like wtf do u know about being baby u were forced to grow up from an early age anyways I’m bitches
-
Rosalyn going to her lesson with Eruhaben: Eruhaben-nim, are we cooking today or what! Eruhaben: Rosalyn, we aren’t… in the kitchen?
-
Cale: With all this tasks I'm getting from the gods sometimes I wish I was Jared 19 so I never read Birth Of A Hero...
-
Alberu: Not trying to brag or anything, but I can wake up without an alarm clock now simply due to my crippling and overwhelming anxiety, so... Cale: Mood
-
Heavenly Demon: do you guys know the meaning of patriarchy? Choi Jung Soo: I prefer Spongebob tbh Heavenly Demon: One more word from you Sword Demon and I swear-
-
Cale: Can I go outside to say a word to god? Choi Han: Yea. Rosalyn: You go outside and start yelling ‘hey what the heck are you!- then ZAP! Cale: I've questioned god before and I haven't died yet.
-
Choi Jung Soo: I so wish I had a cat personality but I have such a dog personality like I would do everything for your approval, do you want me to fetch your stick just for a lil treat , hell yeah I would with pleasure! Choi Han: Oh that's what it was!
-
Choi Jung Soo: Physically, yes, I could fight a bird. But emotionally? *Sees Sui Khan's cute 13 yo child appearance staring daggers at him* Choi Jung Soo: Imagine the toll.
-
Cale: So apparently the 'bad vibes' I’ve been feeling are actually severe psychological distress
-
Cale: A weight blanket is not enough I need to be compressed into a .zip file
-
Cale with a wine glass in hand: Existence is the enemy The group also with wine glasses in their hands: Cheers to that
-
Cale: Sometimes that sad feeling is due to low blood sugar, and sometimes it's from decades of history. Not that complex

Can I request a yandere headcannon with 707,Jumin and V with a darling who love to cosplaying as a magical girl or neko
Jihyun Kim
You and Jiyhun would have been together for a while.
In the beginning, you wouldn't talk much about your hobby.
Maybe you're afraid that he wouldn't be interested…
But one day he came home when you were preparing your cosplay.
So that's where the whole situation started.
Jiyhun would surely have heard of this hobby.
He would work as a photographer.
So maybe someone would have asked her to take cosplay pictures earlier.
However, he would not have much knowledge on the subject.
He would certainly listen to the subject if you wanted to talk about it.
And if you asked, he would definitely take pictures of you.
Lots of pictures.
Jiyhun would really love you.
And he thinks you're most beautiful when you do something that makes you happy.
And this would definitely be the thing.
You went to different cons together a lot.
Saeyoung Choi/707/Luciel
Saeyoung was totally involved in this.
As we know, he would already be into cross dressing.
So he would know what you are talking about when you talk about your hobby.
And Saeyoung would probably know about your hobby before you even tell.
He ran a background check…
And Saeyoung isn't doing a bad job.
He would be enthusiastic about your hobby.
Definitely something you two could do together.
Couple cosplays are a thing.
And surely you would when he had no work to do.
Although Saeyoung would rather google what characters you could cosplay while working.
He would also give Vanderwood a headache.
Saeyoung would definitely love to make the outfits herself with you.
Nice thing to do together.
Jumin Han
You and Jumin had just moved in together.
You were unpacking your moving boxes.
And Jumin would be interested in why you would have one box full of different cat ears.
Jumin doesn't really know what cosplay is.
He's never even heard of it.
And he might not understand if you try to explain to him.
It would really be out of his world.
But he would try to understand.
And would listen to your explanation…
If it was something that would make you happy.
Jumin would really love to see you happy ;)
He would definitely like to support your hobby.
Things that are important to you are also important to him.
Jumin would probably support this hobby financially.
Or he could try to help you make outfits.
But a little warning.
Because Jumin really isn't terribly good at it.
However, it would be fun.
And if you dressed up as a Neko…
Ummmmmm
Well, let's just say that it wouldn't really bother Jumin ;)

The Tomb of Dragons spoilers
I'm not broken because Thara and Iana didn't get together, but it makes zero sense that they didn't end up together. This isn't me being blinded by shipping sunglasses. This is a series of very obvious events that I had assumed, certainly by the end of book 2, would have resulted in Iana/Thara being a couple, if not leading into it at the start of book 3/at some point in book 3. They held hands in the dark after Thara met Iana's mother, who clearly thought they were dating, how else do you read that???
If Monette wanted to highlight that supportive male-male platonic relationships can exist, Anora is right there, and a mainstay of the series and the book in particular. Ulzhavar, Csathamar, Rohethar, Ormevar, Maia, Csevet, Azhanharad, Teru, Thilmerezh: all these other platonic male friendships exist in Thara's life, and literally all of them come back for Tomb. Heck, even Hanu is a good example of this kind of relationship (until it ends where it ends). The build-up of Thara and Iana's relationship makes no sense if this is where it leads, even in the context of strong friendships. I love a good strong platonic friendship, too, and showing men comforting each other outside toxic masculinity or romance matters, I get it. And I don't dislike Hanu as a character, and I even find his relationship with Thara cute when it doesn't feel really forced. Their ending probably makes up for things about as best as it could when you introduce a brand new character and romance in the third novel of a trilogy (and not many of Monette's gay leads get this much! It's good it ends this way!). But just... why?
I don't know. This is massively disappointing. And after knowing this was coming (ARC readers wrote reviews about it months ago), reading the actual novella at last, hoping she had better explanation for it, only to find out she didn't, is not helping.
I enjoyed the book. I really did. It's got a whole lot of great stuff in it. But just... why?
Also, I enjoy bodyguard romance as a trope. I've had shippy thoughts and Cala/Maia and Beshelar/Maia for years. I've been a Jago/Bren stan since like 2005. I always thought the Queen and Joe were adorable in The Princess Diaries. I love Choi Han/Cale Henituse as a ship. And there are lots of manga ships I can think of that fit the trope... It's not the trope I have an issue with, and I'm not averse to it appearing, canonically.
But seeing this as "what if this is about fan thirst for the bodyguard ships in TGE" or "we can't feel bad about it because we've been asking for it" is... I mean sure. Whatever. It feels way too forced. I hope Monette found her bliss with it. Difficult as the book was to write, I hope she wrote the version she wanted to.
Like just imagine, if Monette had read a series where a bodyguard character was introduced in book 1, with a canon crush on the protagonist, got closer to the protagonist for the next two books (and the interest was returned if highly conflicted), and they became an official couple in book 3 of the trilogy, and this was inspiration for Osreth. Wait, what is C.J. Cherryh (author of Foreigner) doing in this Monette interview???:
Sarah Monette: I don’t know if I can claim her as an influence, but I really like Shirley Jackson. Definite influences are Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, J. R. R. Tolkien, Ellen Kushner, Joan D. Vinge, C. J. Cherryh.
The thing I’ve read most recently that I really enjoyed is Martha Wells’s Network Effect.
Uncanny Magazine: What are you working on next?
Sarah Monette: I’m currently in the middle of revisions on The Tomb of Dragons, which is the third book in the Cemeteries of Amalo trilogy (the first two being The Witness for the Dead and The Grief of Stones).
Just... there are ways to do the trope. Even speedier ways in one novel (e.g., Bad Judgment by Sidney Bell, though that's a romance novel). This ain't it.
#the tomb of dragons#the tomb of dragons spoilers#thara celehar#I like the book#I just don't get it#and this is unfortunately ruining the good stuff in the book#fallfthoughts#the chronicles of osreth#iana pel thenhior#idk my thoughts are a mess#at least Thara doesn't end up entirely alone I guess#it's just weird

You know what would be a fun au?
Tcf X Wind Breaker
Imagine the characters as delinquents protecting their city from thugs. They are stupidly strong but they're good people. Just... very strong. Each with their special fighting style and personality. Yet they're a tight knit group.
Choi Han the mad dog. Alberu is dark prince. Rosalyn the cunning wizard. Lock the wolf King.
But what would be interesting is to see either Kim Roksu or Cale Henituse as the leader or newcomer. Either could work.
Kim Roksu, the stoic leader who has never lost a fight. His reputation is the undefeatable leader. Valuable for his strategic mind and vicious fighting style that leaves the enemy thoroughly beaten.
Or he could be Kim Roksu, coming to Roan because his uncle wanted him to die. He quickly made a name for himself for his bright mind, observant eyes, and keen survival instincts. He expected to die, instead he finds a tight knit community that fights to defend.
Cale Henituse. The rich delinquent. Known for his silver tongue that lashes like a whip and his love for fighting. He seeks out thugs like a shark following the scent of blood.
Or he could be Cale Henituse, the rich trash who decided to join Roan due to its reputation. Not wanting to bother his family, Cale decides to join the town for delinquents and see if he can last a while. He didn't expect to stay long but he realized that the place isn't as bad as he thought.

Priest-nim ◀︎
Priest-nim is the body that Kim Rok Soo wakes up in. He is based on Kim Rok Soo's playable avatar when he played [All Routes Lead To Love] as he has similar long white hair and blue eyes. Kim Rok Soo is in shock once he gets to look at the face of his new body. Despite the difference in hair and eye color, the face of this body is exactly like Kim Rok Soo's face.
Kim Rok Soo soon learns that the avatar, the original owner of the body seems to have an actual life behind the scenes in the game that is unknown to Kim Rok Soo as him being a priest is not mentioned in the game. What Kim Rok Soo finds more intriguing is that it seems like no one knows the real name of the original owner of this body as everyone around him all refers to him as Priest-nim.
Sword Demon ◀︎
Sword Demon is a demon that is right next to Kim Rok Soo once he wakes up as Priest-nim. The demon seems to know about Kim Rok Soo possessing the body of Priest-nim as it refers to him as Kim Rok Soo. However, no matter how many times Kim Rok Soo questions it about what it knows about his situation, the Sword Demon always avoids giving him straightforward answers. But if Kim Rok Soo asks about things or concepts of this new world, the demon always answers and explains those things in detail to Kim Rok Soo.
The Sword Demon follows Kim Rok Soo around much to his uneasiness. Kim Rok Soo doesn't even know if the demon following him is a new development or if it has always followed the original as no one else seems to notice or see the existence of the demon besides Kim Rok Soo.
Also due to the mask that the Sword Demon wears all the time, Kim Rok Soo is unable to see its face. However, it's more than once that the Sword Demon reminds Kim Rok Soo of Choi Jung Soo.

“Nonono, the blue one was a million times better,” Sunoo said, pointedly ignoring the deathly glares of Felix, your head maid.
“Maybe it would be if I were going out for an evening ball or something, but it's a bit much for seeing a guest over some tea,” you reply dismissively, inspecting the girl standing in the three large mirrors placed round the circular platform you’d been standing on for the past hour, shifting uncomfortably from one foot to another as your maids brought dress after dress out from your closet and whisked you through trying them on one by one.
Sunoo rolled his eyes at the statement, marching towards your vanity and sifting through the jewelry scattered across it till he settled on a length of thin silk ribbons. “Babes, be real with me here, it's not just some tea party and you know it.”
The three maids who'd been helping you into the layers of lace and silk that made up the soft buttercup yellow gown Felix had chosen stepped to the side to give Sunoo room on the platform behind you, having learned very early on that there was little to no point in trying to stop him.
Ribbon in hand, he began weaving the silky material through the hairstyle they'd arranged as neatly and prettily as possible, ignoring a pained noise from the one nearest him. “I mean, it's not every day your fiance comes all the way out to your family’s manor on the outskirts of the city to make sure the bride-to-be he doesn’t actually care about hasn't lost all her marbles.”
You didn’t understand how Sunoo managed to carry on chattering with their eyes boring holes into the back of his head, especially when their dirty looks were nothing compared to the expression on Felix’s face–his twitching left eye reminded you of a glitching video game character–but he did, carrying on as if it were just the two of you in the room.
“Your Grace,” Felix’s voice was strained, “I really do wish you wouldn't say such things to her Highness.”
“What? That her beloved fiance's come to see her?” Sunoo said, batting his eyes and pouting in mock innocence.
“That’s not what I meant and you know it,” Felix snapped back, eyes darting between his face and the silk in his hands.
“You know she doesn’t really care, right? Why would she care about that cold-hearted stone-faced bas-”
“Sunoo!” you gasped, cutting him off by stomping on one of his fluffy house slippers with the toe of the wildly uncomfortable heel that had been forced onto your foot. You swear you see the corner of Felix’s lip twitch at the strangled noise your best friend makes.
“Ow ?! That was uncalled for- what’s with the look? Is anything I’m saying wrong?”
“No, but you still shouldn’t be talking that way about a member of the royal family,” you reply with irritation, “you not liking him doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s the fucking prince now does it?”
In your peripheral, the three maids shift uncomfortably, and Felix doesn’t even try to hide a long-suffering sigh, making a mental note to inform your tutor that your etiquette lessons still weren’t sticking the way they should.
Sunoo sees this, of course–grinning evilly at you. “It would seem that it doesn’t change the fact that you’re a princess either, Your Highness, better wash out that potty mouth of yours before your dearly betrothed arrives.”
You nearly grab a handful of your skirts to give yourself enough mobility to kick him, but Felix launches himself in your direction before you have the chance, shoving Sunoo rather unceremoniously to one side and holding your wrists under the guise of guiding you off the platform.
“An excellent idea Your Grace, but I fear we have neither the time nor the soap for such an endeavor as m’lady’s presence is needed in the garden.”
₊˚ ‿︵‿︵‿︵୨୧ · · ♡ · · ୨୧‿︵‿︵‿︵ ˚₊
It really was a scene straight from one of your romance manhwas; a neatly laid tea table under a pearly white gazebo, your gloved hand wrapped delicately round the gilded handle of a steaming cup of tea–the picture of perfection in your soft yellow dress that matched the white and yellow roses blooming in the bushes surrounding you perfectly.
They filled the cool morning breeze with their sweet perfume, sending ripples across the clear blue lake so it glittered in the morning sun.
It was beautiful.
So beautiful.
And yet it still didn’t quite compare to the man sitting accross from you.
You’d read his description countless times. Everything from the plush curve of his lips to the sharp intensity held in his dark eyes… yet nothing could have prepared your heart for the sound of his laughter, carried to you over the foliage, the sight of those lips spread in an easy smile as he chatted with your brother, shoulders shaking with mirth.
Nor, you think, could anything have braced you for the chill that would run down your spine when his smile dropped the second Soobin said his goodbyes, worriedly whispering a plea for you to ‘behave yourself’ as he kissed your cheek and left the two of you alone. Your chest constricting almost painfully when those same dark eyes that you’d squealed and giggled over late at night fixed on you, void of any emotion.
He'd stood from his place at the table to greet you, bowing formally in reply to the curtsy your poor tutor had drilled into your bones.
“(y/n).”
“Your highness.”
“You look to be in good health.”
“I am, the family doctor and my handmaids have tended to me with so much care since the incident, recovering well is the very least I could do.”
An awkward pause.
“You seem to be in good health too, Your Highness.”
You could’ve kicked yourself when the prince simply nodded and thanked you in return–a flash of something like recognition passing behind his eyes–before they went back to that easy, indifferent facade you supposed was crafted especially for Princess (y/n). ‘which makes sense,’ you mentally deadpan, ‘she was about as close to a crazy yandere psycho as you could get without actually killing anyone.’
Still, those simple pleasantries, taken straight from the pages of volume two of your etiquette lessons, were the only words exchanged in greeting.
It made even the silvery morning breeze feel stifling.
Ever the gentleman, the prince pulled out your chair, made sure you were comfortable, and nodded once to your guard. “All is well with the knights of the (l/n) estate, Han?”
The effort it took to refrain from snapping your head up and giving them both a confused once-over was monumental. It hadn't occurred to you that the crown prince would be familiar with any of your personal guards, though you supposed it made sense. Most of them had, according to Felix, been looking after you since you were only nine or ten, of course they'd be on friendly terms with your fiance.
“We've been keeping busy, Your Highness,” Han said, and you could almost hear the smile in his voice. Knowing him, he was probably rocking back and forth on his heels, hands clasped behind his back.
“That's good to hear,” the prince nodded, settling into the seat across from you, “I fear the royal knights have grown rather complacent since the relief and revelry that followed the war, it has been a task for General Jeong to whip them back into shape.”
“I can imagine,” Han chuckled. “But really, who could blame them, it’s taken us a long time to reach this peace, what good would it be if we didn’t take at least a moment here or there to enjoy it? As it is, I doubt we would have stayed so diligent if it weren’t for Her Grace, (y/n)’s been coming down to the training grounds and asking us to teach her some basic swordsmanship of late.”
While Han was probably puffing up his chest and beaming proudly over at the prince, thrilled to share the good news that you were finally taking your swordsmanship and safety more seriously, you were trying to avoid choking on air.
There were many things that you didn’t know about Princess (y/n) (l/n)–daughter of an esteemed archmage and revered general–but one of the things that had been emphasised enough in the novel enough for it to stick firmly in your mind was this: she was a frivolous, selfish, bitter disappointment to her bloodline. Squandering the skills she’d inherited from her mother to brew potions that only served her own selfish needs, and refusing to entertain the possibility that she could possibly take after the father she loathed for abandoning her to fight in the war .
She would never willingly break a sweat.
Especially for the sake of swinging around a big heavy old sword.
And it seemed the prince was thinking the same thing, his next words directed at you. “I didn’t know you’d developed an interest in adopting such strenuous hobbies.”
“I… I suppose almost dying will do that to you.”
“Indeed…”
There was a brief pause, in which the prince looked like he was contemplating the milky way while stirring a cube of sugar into his tea. Setting your nerves on edge as you wondered if now was a good time to bring up wanting to end your engagement, or if you should try and “ease into the subject more naturally” as your tutor had told you with his head in his hands, tears of frustration pricking at the corners of his eyes after witnessing just how “abrupt” your manner of speaking was.
You were still turning the words over in your mind when his voice cut through your thoughts, crisp and clipped despite the concern you guessed the inquiry was meant to show. “I was told that you were caught in a storm.”
“I was,” you nod with a bit too much enthusiasm, relieved to finally have an excuse to fill the silence. “I was told that I was on my way back from visiting a cousin who happened to be staying in town when a sudden storm hit us and knocked my carriage into a ravine-”
“You were ‘told’ that you were on your way back from visiting a cousin? That fact doesn’t come from your own memory?”
You blink, caught off guard by his interruption. ‘Isn’t that rude? Is he allowed to be rude because he’s a prince or because he’s my fiance? But wait he shouldn’t be rude either way? Ah screw it, being mad won’t help my case anyway so…’
“Yes, I believe His Grace mentioned in his letter to the palace that the event and the fever that followed seems to have caused a condition the doctors refer to as temporary amnesia, my memories are only there in bits and pieces.”
“Is this memory loss permanent?”
“No, we suspect I’ll start remembering things little by little, a few are already coming back to me,” you say, one hand gripping the material of your skirt in an attempt to keep your voice pleasant and calm.
Sure, the prince didn’t like the princess much, but that didn’t mean he had to be a prick about it, he could afford to be nicer when he was asking questions about her literally forgetting her entire identity. If you didn’t know how awful she’d be a few years down the road, you would’ve found him insufferable.
“I see…” he said, still slowly stirring his tea.
“What exactly do you see, Your Highness,” you smile a little tersely, bringing your own cup up to your lips, praying that the lipstick your maids had chosen was transfer-proof.
The prince raised an eyebrow at you, apparently picking up on the shift in your tone. “Nothing… I’m simply intrigued by your sudden change in character, and the rather dramatic event that you claim caused it.”
It takes you a moment to process his words, and a moment more for agitation to prickle under your skin. ‘The fudge muffin does he mean claim?? I fell off a hill??? Hannie carried me back??? I was out of my mind for a week???’
Reminding yourself over and over again that in his mind he was talking to someone who definitely wasn’t you, you press your lips into one of the polite, plastic smiles Sunoo had been practicing with you. “I apologise for not hitting my head on something less dramatic… I’ll be sure to aim for the carriage windows instead of massive tree branches if it would be more convenient for you… Your Highness.”
“What would have been more convenient for me, and all parties involved, would be your learning to heed warnings, and refrain from traipsing off into town when you know that the sky bodes ill,” he replied smoothly, ignoring the agitation in your voice.
“I’ll do my best to remember that then, Your Highness,” you say through gritted teeth, taking a fortifying sip of your rich floral tea, immediately wondering how the prince could possibly drink something so naturally sweet with even more sugar.
Your answer seemed to surprise him, another flash of… something crossing his features before it vanished just as quickly as the one before.
“Very well,” he nodded, bringing the sugary concoction he’d like to call tea to his lips, distracting you slightly with the way his adam’s apple bobbed as he drank.
‘Oh he hates my guts but dear mother of cheesy romance he’s definitely this world’s male lead…’ you mused, shaking your head slightly to get yourself back on track. You were annoyed. Very annoyed. And the source of that annoyance was speaking to you again.
“I came here today to confirm for myself that you have indeed recovered fully, now that I’ve made sure of that there really is no reason for me to linger longer than necessary,” he said, setting down his cup with such practiced ease that it barely made a sound.
Alarm buzzed under your skin, causing you set your own cup down with much less grace than intended, a sharp clinking noise ringing through the empty gardens. “I- oh shoot- Your Highness there’s actually something I need to discuss with you before-”
“If it concerns the steadily growing pile of invitations and inquiries piling up on your writing desk we needn’t bother with any discussion,” he said, cutting you off without missing a beat, already signalling to the guards–who’d moved away at some point to offer you both more privacy–indicating that he intended to stand and leave. "As long as you stick to the promise you just made to listen to your guards and His Grace, you’re allowed to attend and host as many gatherings as your heart desires, just know that I will not be able to accept any invitations, I am a busy man-”
“Your Highness,” you all but snapped, lips pursed into a thin line, as if sealing them together would stop the flurry of expletives in your mouth from rolling off your tongue.
“(y/n),” he said mildly, raising an eyebrow.
“That is not what I wanted to discuss, but while we’re here, why the hell would I need your permission to attend any kind of gathering?”
The prince blinked blankly, holding up a hand to signal both his and your guards to wait. “What are you on about (y/n)? You’re my fiance.”
“Yes, exactly, fiance, and by arrangement, not by choice.”
“I can’t say I follow your meaning, both these things are well established.”
You swore your eyes nearly popped out of your skull with the effort it took not to roll them. “If I were your wife, or your partner by choice I would, to a certain degree, understand if you wanted me to give you a heads up before I go out-”
“A head?...”
“But I’m not, and at this rate I’m really not sure I want to be, I’m an individual totally separate from you, these are my decisions to make, you have no right to dictate my comings and goings… Your Highness.”
The Prince went silent, watching you steadily, his calm an aggravating contrast to the tense knot of anger and anxiety lodged in your throat. ‘Oh… oh… I’m so sorry Mr. Park…’ you whisper a silent apology in your head and offer a few prayers for your tutor and the vein in his forehead’s good health.
“What exactly do you mean by ‘at this rate I’m really not sure I want to be’, Princess.”
The chill that runs down your spine when he uses your title instead of your name is immediate, your hands going slightly numb in the silken confines of your gloves.
“I mean that… that I don’t want to marry a complete stranger,” you manage, fumbling through whatever you could salvage from the script you and Sunoo had prepared.
“Is that what you'd call someone you’ve known since childhood?” he scoffed, the annoyance creasing his brows the most feeling he’d shown in response to you since his arrival.
“Well from the way you’ve spoken to me till now I can’t exactly consider you a friend now can I?” you seethe, regretting it almost instantly when his expression twists into something almost like hurt. You’re not sure why he made that face, but in a moment it’s gone, and no matter how it made you feel, you have a goal here. Not. Dying.
Which probably meant that pissing off the crown prince wasn’t the best idea. But oh well.
“I have no memory of you, Your Highness, as far as my mind is concerned, today is our first meeting… and from what I can see, the boy who’s meant to be my future husband sees me as either an object or a nuisance… I was hoping that meeting you would ease my mind about this whole engagement thing, but I’m sure now. I don’t want this.”
The prince stared at you for a few moments, expression unreadable, and you guess that–aside from what you hope looks like defience and resolve–you look much the same.
When the world finally clicks back into motion, he nods once. “You do know that dissolving this agreement between our families is not something to be taken lightly? While our parents cannot force us into marriage, they will still try to convince us of our obligations.”
He looked up then, and something in his expression was different. It was still indifferent and unreadable as it had been, but there was a softness to it that you couldn’t quite place. It was confusing. “I understand, I know it won’t be easy, but this is my wish,” you say, relaxing slightly in your own seat.
“If that is what you want… I will speak to my father once things have settled down within the palace… I jest about the knights and their complacency, but the air is less than still, war is a messy business, and cleaning up the aftermath will take some time.”
“I can wait… till next spring, but you must have asked him by then.”
“I will,” he nods, “and I’ll write to you once it is done so you may speak with His Grace as well.”
“Thank you… it’s appreciated…”
You stay like that for a beat longer, staring at each other from across an intricately laid tea table, each of you wondering what the other must be thinking.
“If that is all… I shall take my leave,” he says, breaking the odd trance. Standing, waves your guards over, and you take that as your cue to stand and curtsy as well.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Your Highness, the (l/n) family thanks you for your time.”
“Likewise,” he says, bowing.
Han and two other knights make their way over, wearing slightly troubled expressions, you guess they must’ve heard more than they were meant to. But it doesn’t matter, you think, eventually the news of the broken engagement would be the talk of the town, you shouldn’t be embarrassed about a few knights getting a preview.
“Before I go,” the prince says, “you should know that you never needed my permission for anything, (y/n). You may come and go as you please, you are an individual capable of thought and making her own decisions, as you say. However you must understand that to the public eye, you are the future crown princess, and that is not something to be taken lightly. It is my duty to do what I can to protect the royal family’s image, and having my fiance attend tea parties and balls when she is not in her right mind would have been foolish, to say the least.”
He’s being earnest, you realise. Apologising in his own roundabout way. Maybe. Whatever it is, you choose to take it, knowing that beneath whatever dislike he may hold for the former princess, Park Jongseong was a good person.
“I… I’ll remember that in future…” you murmur.
“Good… and one last thing.”
“By all means.”
“I know now that you have no memory of me, but you should know that you’ve never called me by my title.”
“Oh?” to your memory, the princess had never called him anything but his title, he wouldn’t allow it. “Did I… call you by your given name?”
For the first time, he smiles at you, and you curse your heart for the way it flutters in your chest. “No, I don’t expect you to use it if it brings you discomfort, but the nickname you gave me when we were six was ‘Jay’, because you said I resembled a bird by the same name.”
“A Blue jay?”
“Yes, my hair was lighter then.”
That confuses you slightly, his hair is black, as far as you can tell, but you ignore it, choosing to smile politely and nod along. “It must have been a very handsome bird.”
“It was rather ugly, actually,” he says, walking down the gazebo steps to join his guards. “I bid you farewell, Princess, the royal family thanks you for your time.”
“Likewise,” you respond, watching him as he goes. Noting with a hint of amusement that his hair shines blue in the now bright morning sun.
“What was all that about?” a voice says, and, predictably, Sunoo appears from one of the side paths.
“Were you listening the whole time?”
“Well I tried, but the fountain was too loud, only caught some yelling.”
“Some guard you are,” you whine, smacking Han on the arm as he joins the two of you, “did you even realise a sneaky little rat was eavesdropping?
“Ow! For your information I did, but I figured there was no point chasing him round the gardens when I knew you’d be inviting that rat to tea anyways.”
“That is very true,” you sigh, grabbing a plate and settling yourself across from Sunoo–who already had a mint chocolate chip cookie stuffed in his mouth.

“(y/n)! Forget soap we’re gonna need bleach for that mouth tonight,” Sunoo cries, doubled over in a fit of giggles.
“I knowwww,” you groan, massaging your temples. “Mr. Park’s gonna kill me.”
Sunoo shakes his head. “You make the poor guy sound like an old man, you do realise he’s only our senior by about two years, right?”
“He’s still my tutor! I’m trying to show some respect, as a thank you for how patient he is with my dumb ass.”
“He deserves a raise,” Han chips in, settled on the marble gazebo rails with a plate of cheesecake in hand.
“He doessss,” Sunoo agrees, waving a teaspoon for emphasis.
“You’re all really mean y’know,” you sigh, slumping over the table and grabbing one of Sunoo’s hands and moving it into the shape of a rabbit.
“Not as mean as Sunghoon’s about to be when he sees your posture,” Sunoo says.
“What do you mea- Oh! Good morning Professor Park!”

TASK #001: ROOM KEY PICK-UP
DETAILS
DUE. ongoing, within 2 weeks of a muse's acceptance post
INSTRUCTIONS. in this post's reply section, please comment your muse's full name + a room number that you would like them to occupy (see below the cut for room numbers). if you have multiple muses, please leave their names and room numbers as well. these will be your muse's room assignments for the foreseeable future. if you end up needing to change rooms due to changing plots or other reasons, please reach out to the main.
NOTES
in character, muses simply choose one of the remaining room keys and would have no prior knowledge about who else is staying in nearby rooms, unless you plot that they coordinated rooms with another muse.
all rooms are single bed rooms and can only have one officially assigned occupant. rooms labeled "locked permanently" are unavailable and are canonically unable to be opened or entered. each pair of rooms share a connected bathroom (organized in pairs below), except for units next to the elevators, which have their own private but smaller bathroom. sheets & towels are changed by hotel staff every thursday/friday when the muse is not occupying their room, unless they hang the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign.
for more information about THE OVERLOOK hotel, the history behind JINHAE-GU, and nearby points of interest, please see our corresponding PLOT DROP and TRIP INFORMATION page.
