When i was a child, i would ALWAYS pack 2 weeks before the trip. And 3-1 day(s) before the trip, i notice that my parents are only starting to prepare.

I thought of it.

'Hey, adults r soo slow when packing. And when they do pack, they can even pack a few hours before we set off!'

Looking back at it. I feel the adults now. I'm growing up, huh.

Dear God how I fucking hate when people dismiss s character's traits because "that's just a facade! you as the reader have to see underneath it!!" like yeah no fucking shit Sherlock, a well written character has more than one (1) defining trait but that doesn't mean their most prominent one or the one most recognized by fandom ISN'T there

yes this is about people thinking dick grayson isn't actually a ray of sunshine, that it's just a mask. he's much more than the happy one, of fucking course, all batfam members (when written well) are, but that doesn't mean that being happy and bright is not a crucial part of his personality. he brings light to people's lives, he's a beacon of hope, that's what Robin was born for, as a light to Batman's darkness. That's what Nightwing is. He can be serious, sure. He's smart, an amazing strategist, incredibly good at fighting, he can be manipulative and morally gray and sometimes an objectively bad person. But he's ALSO funny and quippy and bright and sunshine. BECAUSE HE'S WELL WRITTEN.

Like Jesus stop making him so sad and wrong all the time just because you want so bad to go against "fanon". It's not fanon if it's literally his core trait. It's not fanon if it's what the character was BORN AS. God.

#I'm not sure if this even makes sense #it's almost 6am I haven't slept and I just saw someone say he's a manipulative bitch and to stop writing him as a ray of sunshine #and now I'm mad #because this parson had this lukewarm takes with most of the batkids #like yeah I get a lot of damian's traits and back story are deeply rooted in racism #but like he did try to kill tim. and he killed a bunch of people when he first got to Gotham. that's a thing that happened.#and no matter how racist the reason behind that plot line might have been #it's something that happened and choosing to believe it didn't happen because it doesn't fit your preconceived ideas of how #a character should or should not be is just plain stupid #you can explore the character and change their personality and play with them in fanfic sure that's what we all do #but don't pretend that canon doesn't exist. you can choose to utilize it or not but acknowledge it even if it's just to spit in it's face #damian's not tame he's not more chill than his brothers he's not misunderstood #he's a child who had a horribly traumatic childhood and reacts with violence because that's all he knows #Jason's angry and he has every right to be and to say he isn't is to erase an incredibly important part of his character #you don't get to tell a victim how to be a good victim. COME BACK TO ME. so he moved in)#umm only other villager we had was chadder which i think my little brother picked when we shared the island #i think i remember him saying he got chadder because of dantdm...? i dont remember the details #but i got the sanrio amiibo cards which i need to stress i had wanted for YEARS. i was so fucking happy when they got a rerelease #to the point where like. i couldnt get them at first because they sold out super fast. so #i bought them from someone in twitter dms im so serious. and it fucking worked thats how i got them #anyway i wanted chai to move in because shes my fave of that set (i love cinnamoroll) but i needed someone to move out #which i always get so sad about :( but my brother offered to take chadder so i felt a little better abt it #and then i think we forgot to like. have him come get chadder in boxes. so chadder went off somewhere hope hes living a good life #thats it i think. i wish i kept a list of all my villagers ever but considering ive been playing for a decade or so now that would be. crazy #muffin mumbles

One thing that is difficult about writing historical fiction is when you’ve set your story up in the same time frame as major historical events, which you KNOW would be on your characters’ radar yet they don’t impact the plot. What is too much? What is too little?

#writing #it’s hard like if I just brush over it completely it’s like huh? did you forget this major event that some of these characters would know #and would almost certainly have feelings about #or if you only mention it in passing it’s doing a disservice to the significance of this event #it’s just not part of the story #in the case I’m working with it’s a bit understandable because it’s still very early into the event but #this shit is going to be on their minds and if they themselves never impacted it will likely impact people they know #some of them could kind of ignore it but they are also in proximity to two characters who I’m certain won’t be able to ignore it #but because it’s so early I can maybe get away with mentioning it only in passing #like they don’t know how bad shit will get because it’s only the beginning and they’re naive early 20-somethings #sometimes it’s easy and seemless to incorporate historical events #my other historical story it’s so easy to mix Word War 2 into the protagonist’s childhood because that’s why her brother is the way he is #because of PTSD from a traumatic event that I’ve literally mapped to real life events that happened because it worked the puzzle pieces fit #they don’t always though #and that’s the issue with this story #also these characters are all dealing with a lot of shit so external events might not really be the biggest thing on their minds #like we need to deal with the pressing shitstorm we’ve chosen to jump headfirst into #tag rambles #none of these characters are the type to stand idly by or at least they aren’t by the end of the story #and it’s also like every one of my 5 protagonists will have shit to say even if it’s not something they personally might have to deal with #because part of being in a small group of the only people who know the full story about something is that it creates a bond #like these are literally their ride or die people #I love them so much #all 5 of them are my pookies #and yes I have also been in a situation where it’s like okay I guess these are my people where we all know too much now lol #and there’s definitely a bonding element to that #like no one else will ever get it in a way some other people do #it’s much less dramatic in my case

so clearly i arrived fine and the start to my "trip" is going great! now it's 2am and im feeling the gravity of my situation 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

#i have a couch to crash on in nyc but i need money to get BACK THERE #i have 45 days to get a job. because a certain relative i have will magically produce the money for me to move back if i have a job offer #even though i still wont be able to afford an apartment or anything yet #fuck i am realizing how really fucking fucked i am #the same relative that put me in this position is the one who's helping me on terms he has not specified :) haha im not scared at all #like okay with my gfm that proved to me that i dont need him right but i cant do two gfms like oh wow teddy needs help again cant get a job #yet huh loser. and i just cant bring myself to Actually Borrow money from people even though we both know ill pay it back #the childhood trauma of having grown up homeless is hitting HARD rn #doesnt help that my meds are Very Messed Up at the minute #my heart problems and crazy pills arent getting along well #so i need uhhh to take care of that! fuck id like. to. well the work relies upon your continuance. unfortunately #dont particularly feel like it does at the moment [frantically thumbs thru my mental book of things to say when i wanna die] eh kinda wanna #see how the story ends though the chapter started kinda weird but maybe it gets better. maybe it's a turning point or smthn #lessons of the hand and the mouth

#long story short i got my hair cut bc i'm going to see my family soon and i didn't want to deal with them making comments about it #bc they always can't resist whenever i let my hair grow even a little #and apparently even at almost 27 years old i'm so sensitive that i'll do this just to avoid the whole situation #honestly i feel more anxious than usual about seeing them this time #and my brother is going down this very weird political path of seemingly immersing himself in right wing social media discourse #while simultaneously becoming a massive fanboy for the soviet union #if he's not talking about how stalin did nothing wrong he'll be explaining why they/them aren't actually valid pronouns #and it's kinda heartbreaking bc for basically my entire childhood he was my best and only friend #and now i dread even seeing him #while simultaneously dreaming about just announcing that i'm nonbinary in the middle of family dinner next time he starts talking about it #just to spice up the conversation a little ya know #oops kinda started rambling there huh #anyway hair hurry up and grow back i miss you already

Thoughout my youth I got a lot of shit from adults (esp my Former English Teacher Mom) (those are a different breed than regular moms) about how often I said “like”.

Most of them comforted themselves by saying I’d stop doing it as much as I got older and eventually I’d laugh at myself for it just like they did

Instead now when I catch myself doing it whether verbally or in writing I can stop myself and go “Wait, is that necessary? No? Well, it conveys the tone/meaning/vibe I’m trying to get across better than I can say without it. It stays”

Which I think is pretty cool and sexy of me and also reminds me of the time in high school we had to read an article about proper comma usage and then write a response about what we learned from it and I said this
