. Source:The Daily Journal The Los Angeles Lakers of the 1980s were a great dynasty for several reasons and more reasons because they had Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Earvin Johnson and Pat Riley as their head coach and Jerry West as their general manager. They had the best center of all-time, the best point guard of all-time, one of the best head coaches of all-time in Pat Riley, one of the best…

My absolutely most crack tma ship is Naomi Herne & Tessa Winters aka: that chick forced to watch the 17 hour creepy pasta. My entire reasoning for this can be boiled down to that Naomi is introverted and socially anxious and Tessa says in her statement that she’s not used to talking to people in person. I just imagine them meeting online in some forum/discord server where ppl share their Fucked Up If True encounter stories and hitting it off.

🥀 How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?
Herne:
Lots of stylized sketches of animals and plants on the cover and margjns. He kept similar journals when he was younger, mostly detailing his and his family's travels. These days he does keep a small one-mostly about his day, the goings-on in his Herd's territory, the progress of his brews. As for an example:
It is the twenty-third of November, the fifty-second year. It was very good hunting today, I felled one Yao Gui and two Radboars, with Giff and Gaff's assistance. Fortune smiled upon me, for I found Spirit Cap as well; it will make an excellent festive brew! The latest batch is well onbits way to being ready for tasting, given another week's time.
Wendy:
A beaten old notebook she found in a ruined high school, much like Herne's hers is covered and filled with sketches of animals-though her are more studies, with a fine eye for realistic detail. Mostly also full of observations and collected knowledge of said animals, as well as other uweful inforrmation about the wastes. Example:
Nov. 24, 2287
Majorly excited!! Found a nest of Ghasts not far from Sanctuary, just a little to the East. Preston seems worried, what with their habit of swooping down and carrying off smaller people. Though, think the sighy and sound of turrents is gonna be enough of a deterrent. Hoping to see some chicks in the spring!
[Below is a sketch of two abnormally large malformed looking barn owls perched in a tree, above a hallow in the wood.]

Dinner for the end of summer: the last grilled sardines of the season
IS there any more emblematic symptom of the English triumph of hope over experience when it comes to the weather than talk of an “Indian summer”? Any year that early September is less than vile and storm-battered, these hopes get raised once again.
Let's be brutally realistic. You know as well as I do that it’s only a matter of weeks before we’ll have to get winter coats out of the attic and before diplomatic skirmishes will start over family Christmas arrangements.
So I am not indulging in any such loose talk when I merely observe that the weather has still been pleasantly warm the past couple of days. Indeed so warm yesterday in South London, and the sardines in Herne Hill market looked so fresh, that I couldn’t resist barbecuing in memory of my Greek holiday.
The following recipe is loosely adapted from Marvin Gapultos’s one on Serious Eats. I served this with rice and chick pea pilaf and tabbouleh, and we drank Domaine Vico rosé 2016 with it, a fresh Corsican pink favourite.
By the time you attempt this, the weather will probably have turned. Still, there's always next summer, eh?
Grilled sardines with lemon, garlic and paprika 3 medium garlic cloves 75ml extra virgin olive oil Juice of 1 lemon 1 tsp smoked paprika, sweet or picante according to your taste 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 3 bay leaves 1/2 kilo very fresh sardines (or anchovies), cleaned and gutted. This works best with bigger/plumper fish, filleted and split as in the picture above Sea salt Chopped parsley Lemon wedges for serving
Mix together the first 6 ingredients for the marinade. Lay the sardines in a dish and spoon over the marinade - you’ll probably have to do a second layer, depending on the size of the dish. Put marinade on the second layer too. Cover with cling film over the surface of the fish and leave for at least 30 minutes, up to a couple of hours.
Light a barbecue (you could do them under a hot domestic grill too). When it is hot, lay the sardines on the grill. If you’re using a barbecue, it’s easier to do them in a fish rack if you have one - otherwise you will have to watch the fish very carefully and turn them quickly with a spatula before they stick. The fish only need a few minutes a side. It doesn’t matter if the skin side burns a bit.
Garnish with the parsley and lemon and serve immediately. And please don’t be too English and try to take the skin off - just eat the lot, for God's sake.

Sorry to worry you! I was focusing on my genshin hyperfixation and got some new ones while mcyt fell into the dust. A lot had happened for the past 6, 5, 7 months? I stopped going all energetic when I had a new idea which does miracles to the mind. Stopped getting so much burn out when i can't think anymore. The only side effect is that ideas come every 3 months and I just go "uee hee hee, a new thought to play with" before forgetting about it - AV

We went to Hell's gate, geothermal Maori settlement near Rotorua, absolutely awesome, steam vents,
Tumblr media
sulphur crystals, bubbling mud pools.
Tumblr media
Also beautiful tropical forest with hot water falls.
Tumblr media
I tried my hand at Maori wood carving
Tumblr media
and we soaked our feet in hot muddy water...good for the arthritis.
Tumblr media
We went to Okere falls on way, sight of first NZ hydroelectric power station, one family so proud of having electricity that the electric kettle featured alongside the children in the family photo. Great cascades that people kayak down, there was a lot of water today so sadly no kayaks to be seen. Did see a shag enjoying fishing in the turbulent water below the falls. Then to Lake Rotoiti & finally to Lake Okataina, which was stunning & we were able to get a coffee at the Okataina Lodge Hotel overlooking the lake. Back home in time for beautiful sunset on Papamoa beach
Tumblr media
and had fish (snapper & tarakihi) & chips. It was delicious.
Sunday 18th February
We had a trip booked for today to the predator free wildlife sanctuary Tiritiri Matangi. An amazing project to reintroduce the habitat for many endangered animals and birds and remove their predators that had been introduced by settlers.
We were recruited by Ronald an experienced guide who clearly selected his group on the boat to make sure he had people with a suitable level of interest in his knowledge. This was great for us as there were quite a few birders in the group and we benefitted from their expertise. We saw many species of birds who had the most beautiful songs and were entranced by both the new and ancient rainforest on the island. We met a juvenile Australasian Magpie which is grey but we later met the adult which is black and white like the one we see in UK but in different places. It also has an incredible digital sounding song, very musical and not like the ugly sound ours makes. I thought I saw a rare flightless Takahe a flightless bird which is quite shy and lives on the island. I had photographs but from a distance and couldn't be certain as there is a very similar bird called a Puka incredible experience and a wonderful introduction to the vegetation and wildlife we would fall in love with over the next six weeks.
The boat trip out and back from Auckland harbour took us round North Head where we had been the day before with Chris and Alan got dome great pictures of the area from the water. We saw many sea birds from the boat as well, and benefitted from standing near Ronald to know what we were seeing.

Saturday 17th February
We met up with Chris Mysko, a friend of the family from Bollington, who is now working as a doctor in Auckland. He picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Herne Bay, a nice suburb of Auckland, for breakfast. This really entertained me as Herne Bay was a place on the north Kent coast where we would go, for a treat, as kids to see the Guinness Clock. The cafe was a good introduction to NZ food industry. The coffee is excellent or Ok never dishwater as in the UK. They all do flat white, some do large flat white, which is unheard of at home. Lots of delicious smoothies, which I am enjoying. From here he drove us to Muriwai Beach where we walked along the coast seeing surfers on big rolling waves and a Gannet colony close up on the cliff. It was incredible how far the chick stuck it's head into it's parent's beak to get regurgitated food! We were very aware of the constant rasping sound of the cicadas rubbing their legs against their body, and we were able to spot the insect on the flax plants growing freely along the coast path. We were also aware of a different drumming sound which also seemed to be coming from the flax plants. We identified & I filmed some of the cicadas drumming on the surface of the plant with their back legs. I had never seen or heard this before!
It was a sunny day and I certainly felt my energy sapped on the steep climb back up to where the car was. Chris put the soft top down on his car and the breeze was fantastic as he drove us back to his house on the North shore of Auckland. It was great to meet his housemates and see his home. He showed us the nearby beach at the end of which was a promentary called North Head which has a hill with an old gun emplacement. From here we had fantastic views over to Auckland city centre & across the bay to the peninsulas and islands around the bay.
We drove to Devonport the nearest town size centre for bars and restaurants and meet Chris's partner, Jess for a meal. We had met her before in Bollington, she was on a yoga teachers course for the weekend so had been unable to join us earlier It was lovely to see them both and see their home.
Friday 16th February
I had not thought of doing a blog, and didn't seriously consider doing it when various friends suggested it. But my memory is not as good as it was and I want to savour every moment and be able to look back and remember what a fantastic experience this is.
It has taken me a while to get my act together with this blog, so I am now catching up, four weeks into the trip.
Arrived at Auckland airport having left home on Wednesday evening and flown via Dubai. We sorted out cash from the ATM and NZ sim cards for each of our phones, much easier than we thought as Dan, a young man, sorted our phones out in a flash and Vodaphone had an 8 week package for tourists that was great for us.
Ray our driver was there to meet us and drove us to the Auckland Pullman hotel giving us a guided tour on our way. We were very pleased to end our journey for a while and have a welcome shower. To re-set our body clocks we went out to get as much daylight on our bodies. We walked to the Sky Tower and enjoyed the panoramic views of the harbour area. We were ready for a good coffee and ice cream to start the holidy in style. I was facinated by the adrenaline activities that the tower offers. We watched quite young kids going over the side of the tower or walking around the top edge platform on a harness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We walked around the harbour area to find our where our ferry to Tiritiri Matangi Island left on Sunday morning, before returning to our hotel for a much needed sleep.

I grew up a #lalakers fan. I remember my Dad turning on the radio to 570am. We would hear Chick Hern giving the play by play. Anyone who is a true Laker Fan understand the way we all feel. I was at the gym today and watching highlights of his games. You will he miss #kobebryant . 24 min run. #24 #8 #ripblackmamba 🙏🙏🙏 https://www.instagram.com/p/B7zRej-nvlM/?igshid=68i85va9yqc8

LABOR DAY WEEKEND FILM FESTIVAL.
My how time flies with a flyrod in your hand.  Some commentary to this vid. I’m doing my best Chick Hern impression giving the play by play. James Dwyer can be heard in the background. My buddy Tim is playing the part of Kershaw.  Last but not least my friend Katen is the boat owner and handling deckhand duties.   We were living the Montauk dream on this day.  Literally we were sick of catching fish on the fly and have to switch things up to keep up the moral. :  ]

Set up an altar, serve them cakes, and let them know they are not forgotten. If you wish to communicate with deceased friends and family, this is the best time of year. The veil thins the night of Samhain, making communication easy. Do NOT, however, entice spirits, disrespect them, call demons, or perform any other magic that is anything less than respectful. I repeat, don't do it. Samhain is also a great time to practice divination in the form of runes, scrying, tarot, tea readings, etc. Reflect over the previous year and perform blessing spells to ring in the new year. Astral projection and lucid dreaming is also much easier to perform on this night, but remember to be safe, Banishing magic, especially those for bad habits, are especially strong on this night. Please note this is not a complete list but a brief overview of symbols, colors, herbs, deities, and the like. _______

Joey is such a disaster gay, and he's very open about it. One day, Henry casually asks if he is interested in a chick. Everyone is like HE GAY HERN. Joey cries.
Joey isn’t even a disaster gay he’s like transcended into an apocalypse gay

First ‘Chough’ Chick Born in Kent for 150 years!
Conservationists are celebrating as the first ever baby chough chick is born at the Wildwood Trust conservation centre. Expert conservationists at the Canterbury based charity say this is the first ever chough to be born in Kent in at least 150 years. Lost to Kent for centuries, the magnificent chough, which adorns the Canterbury City's coat of arms and civic regalia, can once again be seen back in the county synonymous with this wonderful bird. The chough, a member of the crow family, is one of the rarest birds in the UK and was driven to extinction in Kent well over 100 years ago. The chough has a long-standing association with Kent and still lives on in the coat of arms of Canterbury City and the University of Kent, and in Shakespeare's King Lear (Act iv – Fields near Dover, Scene 6) where he introduces the chough in his description of the Dover Cliffs. The Canterbury-based charity Wildwood Trust is part of a ground-breaking project to assess if these amazing birds can be released back into the Kent countryside. Famed as acrobats of the sky, the chough naturally performs majestic flying displays which can now be seen by visitors to Kent's largest bird aviary at the Wildwood Trust Animal park on the A291 between Canterbury and Herne Bay. This is the first success by Wildwood's team of expert keepers in the hope of establishing a long-term breeding programme for the bird's return to Kent..

This Choir Had To Perform After Eating Ghost Peppers, And I Can't Stop Laughing
I GET MY MONEY FOR NOTHING AND MY CHICKS FOR FREE!
This is the video we all need right now.
If you're a spicy food enthusiast, you've probably heard about ghost peppers.
They're 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce and were at one point considered the world's hottest chili pepper.

Well, Danish comedian, chili enthusiast, and YouTuber Chili Klaus recently fed the food to Denmark's Herning Boys Choir to create this ~gem~ of a video. 😂
youtube
If Denmark had a version of "America's Funniest Home Videos" this would've been this season's winner.

The video starts off with the boys singing an angelic rendition of "O Come, All Ye Faithful."
It's the stuff of Christmas fairy tales.

For the next two minutes, the boys attempt to calmly get through the piece, some while crying.

...experiencing violent pain.

...and just, in general, dying.
^ Me trying to keep my shit together in 2017.

According to Claus Pilgaard (aka Chili Klaus), who's pulled off the stunt with other musical groups before, the youngest were given milder peppers.
"I graduated the chili peppers a bit," Pilgaard told BuzzFeed Food. "The mildest for the youngest boys and the hottest for the grown ups — to make a common experience for all of them." They consumed everything from 7 Pod Yellow and Dorset Naga (Ghost Chili) peppers, to Chocolate Bhutlah and Cayenne for some of the youngest members of the choir.

To tame the heat, parents awaited the boys with "milk, ice-cream and bread."
And despite the chili-induced sweats, stomach pain, and mouth burn, one of the youngest boys admitted that while the chili pepper was indeed very hot, "It was still harder to sing a concert in Carnegie Hall!" (The Herning Boys Choir sang in Carnegie Hall in NYC this past October)

travels
That time I decided to leave Australia.
That time I realised how little I know about natural wine in Edinburgh.  That time I spent all my money at one wine bar in Belfast. That time I had way too much fun with Matt and Tom in Paris. That time I fell in love with Lambrusco in Emilia-Romagna That time I ate heavenly food with a family in Sicily. That time I got thirteen stitches in Guernsey That time I rode around on tractors and picked grapes in Austria. That time I met a fortune telling wizard in Cologne. That time I fractured my foot in Amsterdam. That time I had the best kebab of my life in Berlin That time I got high and banged on drums for hours in Poland That time I finally won money gambling in Prague That time I met two awesome chicks at the Raw Wine fair in Berlin That time I went vegan, sometime, somewhere That time I volunteered at a hostel in Cambridge That time I met the naughtiest Piglets in London That time I survived our staff Bbq in Herne Hill That time I lived in a tent and cooked over a fire in Sicily That time I very nearly died seeing Radiohead live in Glasgow That time I talked honey and head banged to Dead Moon in Edinburgh That time I lost my wallet on a bus back to London That time I picked grapes and sang songs about crocodiles in France That time I reunited with some of the greatest humans I know in Tokyo That time I got a tan and drank too much Jager in Cambodia That time I finally decided to come home.
