Prematurely

Eyes swimming with tears, Chi-Chi covered her mouth. The pair had gotten married months before, and now...now, she was pregnant. Not to say that she didn’t want this to happen earlier on; she just didn’t know how her husband would respond to it! Would he freak out? Would he yell at her? Walkout? Leave her for weeks? She just didn’t know! It was burdensome!

With him being gone, she was alone with her thoughts. She attempted to cook, but with the stress of how Goku would react, she had cut herself quite severely, nothing needing stitches.

Leaving the knife alone, the wife concocted something mouthwatering but straightforward.

Turning the stove on, the wife flips the wrong burner on - burning herself in the process of setting the pot down. All contents going down with the pot, she grumbles under her breath. How was this day going downhill all because of a baby? What if the results were a false positive? So many questions, thoughts, emotions were flooding her head - she couldn’t take it anymore!

Leaving the puddle and pot on the floor, she rushes over to Capsule Corp...until she recalls Bulma and Krillin didn’t necessarily support their marriage! They didn’t even go to the wedding!

She hadn’t even made it to the city for the train before turning back halfway! Bulma was the wrong person to go to for this...truth was she didn’t have anyone who was female to talk to. How would they react when they discovered she was pregnant with Goku’s baby, and he didn’t even know?! She couldn’t do that to him...not her husband. They had grown so close to each other these last months that she felt they felt extremely comfortable with her. He couldn’t stop touching her! There were numerous times where she had to pry his fingers off of her!

“Chi-Chi! Whatcha doin’ out here?”

Jolting, Chi-Chi about bolts. Where had he come from?! He hadn’t been anywhere close that she had known of! “Goku-sa?! Where did ya come from?! Ya scared me!”

Scratching the back of his neck, her husband nervously chuckles. “Ehehe - I’m sorry, Chi-Chi. I sensed ya in the area...when I was headed back an’ thought I would take a look. What are ya doin’ out here?”

Lips pursed, she glances away. She couldn’t face him now, not like this.

Spotting her behavior, Goku appears in front of her before she can blink. Lifting her chin, he makes her look at him. “What’s wrong, Chi? Everythin’s off ‘bout ya...I don’t like it….”

Forced to establish eye contact with him, Chi-Chi diverts her eyes. She didn’t know what it was; she couldn’t tell him - not like this. “...please don’t...I don’t wanna talk ‘bout it, right now.”

Goku’s expression becomes stern. He didn’t care what it was; he didn’t want to leave without knowing what was bothering her. “Tell me, please. I wanna know what’s botherin’ ya...I hate seein’ ya like this, Chi.” Sighting a tear, he uses his thumb to wipe it away. “I love ya, Chi-Chi...I always will.”

Swallowing, her eyes glint. Goku couldn’t have said what she thought he had...now couldn’t have been the time he finally said those words. She had told them before, but he always smiled back and held her close instead. He had specified that he was still trying to piece together his feelings for her. “I don’t want ‘ta!..I’m scared, okay?!”

“Of what?” He pauses, confused about what was going on. Why would she be afraid of anything? He was more than strong enough. Well, he did want to train, so he could protect all of them. Plus, he got some type of exhilaration through it!

“...No...I won’t say it...Yer gonna hate me...that it happened too early….” Gasping, she covers her mouth. She spilled everything!

“...What? What’s too early? I don’t get it...what’s too early?”

Refusing to speak, she shakes her head. “No...yer gonna hate me for ruinin’’ our lives. We didn’t plan or talk ‘bout it...an’...”

“What are ya talkin’ ‘bout? Yer goin’ off on a tangent...I don’t comprehend what you’re tryin’ ‘to say...tell me what we didn’t plan for. I promise ya I won’t get mad.” Her tall, gentle husband assures her, kisses her forehead. “I won’t ever hate ya - ever.”

Chewing the inside of her cheek, she exhales. He wouldn’t understand; he couldn’t. “I’m pregnant.”

“Is that from sex or somethin’?” Goku questions, puzzling together if it was really unplanned if they weren’t doing it with protection. He was confident that someone somewhere told him unprotected sex made babies. He didn’t know what that protective stuff was about, though. It didn’t make sense to do it the other way if you could do it just as quickly without. “Ain’t that supposed to happen?”

Before she can answer, he says the least expected. “...ya knew?”

“Ehehehe, I don’t see why I wouldn’t...growin’ up with Master Roshi, I learned some of those things after some time. Though, I don’t think he does it for the right reasons….” Goku mumbles that last part to himself.

“...so are ya okay with havin’ a baby?”

“Of course!” The male chirps, obliging his wife. He didn’t see any issue with them raising a kid. Though, he couldn’t say that he had the slightest idea of how to raise one.

Springing into his arms, she buries her face into his neck. “That makes me so relieved, Goku-sa! I was so nervous ‘bout how ya were gonna respond! I didn’t know what ‘ta do!”

Holding her firmly, he pecks her head once more. “I won’t ever be unreasonable with ya, Chi-Chi. I’ll always be on your side.”
