Just finished watching s3 of Teen Wolf so here's some thoughts:
THE STETER "help me" HOSPITAL SCENE WHERE PETER LOOKS SO CONFUSED WAAAAHHH
On that note THE STETER BUTT TOUCH!!
My god I love Noah Stilinski best dad award
Isaac is really growing on me
R.I.P. Allison you were ok ig I sobbed for your father tho, Chris babygirl you did NOT deserve that added trauma
Speaking of Chris the cherek was OFF THE CHARTS this season I loved it the CHRIS TIED UP IN A CHAIR SCENE?? OOF
I'm also extremely sad for the twins like :( redemption through death isn't my fave at all and also they were funny... I know only Aiden died but I have a feeling we won't be seeing Ethan ever again so it's as if he died too rekt
I knew about Peter and Malia so that wasn't a shocker
You know what was a shocker in NEGATIVE? The fucking happening between Stiles and Malia and not because I ship steter but because?? They?? Barely spoke to each other and the writers just??? Made them fuck???? Was that necessary? Was it plot relevant? Was it only to make Stiles fuck someone since he was the only virgin one left?? Odd choice, did not like it -100/10
I also knew about Allison's alleged dead aunt coming back as a... Werejaguar? I think? Bitch can't stay dead UGH
Backtracking a bit THE RAVE SCENE WHERE STILES GETS KISSED BY THAT GIRL AND HE GOES "don't you like girls?" "yeah I do, don't you?" "yes of course I love them... So, you like boys too?" "Yeah, do you?" AND HE JUST STOPS AND STARES INTO THE VOID PONDERING IT?? HELLO????? BISEXUAL STILES REAL??
Anyway Lydia my beloved stop dating hot blonde guys they all end up dead or gone. I know she'll end up dating stiles and there's a reason I have that shiptag blocked ok can the writers let her have a fucking male friend? Idk let her kiss a girl she's a Banshee she deserves that I think.
Scott is... Better, ig than in the previous seasons. The whole True Alpha thing was SO gary stue but pop off ok it was fun and at least he's a slighter better friend now, although he keeps on following pussy around while something bad is happening like CAMOOON
Kira is nice, can't have it against her for her shitty tastes in boyfriend material cause she's funny pretty kind strong also I love myself some Japanese mythology so I welcome this new addition to the team
All in all I really enjoyed this season, I binged it in like, three days and I loved ALL the Stiles centric moments with the Nogitsune, although I feel there could've been something MORE, like going deeper into WHY Stiles of all people and letting us see more of the internal turmoil. But that's just me loving to inflict some sweet sweet desperation and torture on my faves, although I did tear up a bit when they thought he had the same illness as his mother like OOF low blow.
Anyway insane how anything Stiles related always circles back to Peter somehow, really makes you think 🤔

CHRIS ARGENT FIC RECLIST, as curated by his (self-appointed) biggest fan.
I don’t know if you could tell by the fact that I have been running the Chris Argent tags on here, Instagram, and TikTok like the damn navy, but he is my favorite character in that show and has been since 2018. And yet, in this WHOLE time of being a fan of his, I’ve only found a HANDFUL of fics (15 to be specific) where I enjoy the author's characterization of him. So now, I’m here, compiling them all for your enjoyment, with my ultimate faves marked with a ☆ symbol. What can I say...I'm picky when it comes to my son! I should be getting paid for the amount of PR I’ve been doing for his character…
Nurture over nature by netweight [<1k] ☆
For the 3 Sentence Ficathon prompt, "Chris Argent/Derek Hale, nothing like Kate."
I know...all this posting I've been doing about Petopher and the first thing on the list is Chris and NOT Peter. Little known NBB lore: I was a Chris/Derek stan LONG before I gave into the Petopher propaganda. And this is one of my fave fics about them. Perfect drabble. I reread this all the time. I've even reread it during times where I wasn't hyperfixating over Teen Wolf at ALL. I think this may have even started my love for vignettes, one-shots, etc. To be able to write such a great fic in three sentences is just astounding to me. That takes having SUCH a way with words. It inspires me so much.
blessed is mercy among family by asiren [<1k] ☆
Chris Argent: wifeless, sisterless, daughterless. At the end of the day, nothing left at all.
The summary alone lives in my head rent free. Like, no one's ever gonna describe him better. They nailed it.
Madonna of the Desert by fleete [<1k]
Chris meets Vicky at a hunter's convention in the Wyoming desert.
The tone shift from the last one to this one is crazy. I didn't care about Chris/Victoria at ALL until I read this fic. I understand why people get the impression that their marriage was arranged, but I think it's so much more fun to think that Chris really did just fall in love with her and her stone cold killer bitchery the good old fashioned way.
A Neck But No Head by HenryMercury [1.1k] ☆
Argent men are trained to be soldiers, and Chris is no more and no less than that. Argent women are trained to be leaders—but there are no Argent women left. Chris is a bullet without a gun, an arrow shaft without a bow to give it force and guidance. The nogitsune had asked what has a neck but no head—and Chris has an answer for it now.
Okay, back to the sad stuff. Sorry! Blame the word count, not me...Errrnnnyways, this was the first character study fic I ever found about him and it has stuck with me since. Perfect glimpse into what he must've been thinking post-Allison. Little hint of Chris/Derek at the end.
Shedding All My Old Regrets by saintsideways [1.5k]
Peter leaves Chris in Sacramento. Peter finds him again in Santa Fe, living in a motel next to a diner, face brown from the desert sun. Peter is moon-pale, thin and sharp and salt-stained. “What took you so long?” Chris snaps, shirtless in the evening gloom, backlit by neon.
First Petopher fic on the list...I actually just found this one today on the hunt for some new Petopher fics and I enjoyed this one. I like their short and to-the-point writing style a lot. That might be a theme throughout all of these, actually...I've said this before but I really only enjoy their dynamic when they're at each other's throats or when there's a clear power imbalance in Peter's favor. Like, Peter's evil! PLEASE LET HIM BE EVIL! Unless it's with Melissa…in which case I support him softening up.
I'm no good (you're no better) by broadcastdelay [1.5k]
Despite his intention of avoiding both Argents and heroism, neither of which he feels particularly well-suited for, Derek ends up with 74 shards of glass embedded in his back and a Chris Argent who seems to disagree.
God, I love this one. This author writes Chris and Derek like nobody's business. Derek reads Chris so well in this, and they write Chris to be just the perfect amount of aimless and desperate. Rereading this now, their conversation kind of reminds me of Dr. House and the patient from One Day, One Room, which is my favorite House episode! Chris is the patient in this scenario, of course.
compartmentalizing by firefall [2.5k]
He lets Chris suffer in silence, which Chris both appreciates and understands. Derek has almost thirty years of horror to swallow down. The world hasn’t been kind to him, either. Which is why the unabashed care in his voice nearly takes Chris’ breath away when Derek asks quietly, “We’re okay, right?” He says it like a plea. Like he needs them to be okay. It’s a far cry from the practiced control Chris usually hears from him. Chris’ face heats up. “Of course,” he says roughly. “Why would you ask that?” Chris and Derek after the war.
Another Chris/Derek fic. THIS was the first Chris/Derek fic I ever read. It's always gonna have a special place in my heart.
Seventeen and Not a Day More by allyarra [2.7k]
Allison is 17 years old. She will never be a day older. And then she is.
Chris and Allison. The bit about Lydia lives in my head rent free.
soldiers; monsters; strangers by robotboy [2.8k] ☆
An uncanny happenstance in the desert.
THE BEST PETOPHER FIC. HANDS DOWN.
When It Comes to Melissa by Triangulum [3.3k] ☆
Melissa's beautiful when she comes, head thrown back in ecstasy. One of her hands is still twisted in Chris' hair and her fingers spasm when she comes, unconsciously pulling his face closer to her. He commits the taste of her and the way she looks as she falls apart to memory, in case he never gets to be like this with her again. She's breathing hard, soft breasts rising and falling rapidly. She tugs at Chris' hair when it's too much, when she gets oversensitive. He pulls back reluctantly, not wanting to give up where he is. The insides of her thighs are red from his beard and he presses soft kisses in apology to each, but she doesn't seem to mind, humming in pleasure when he touches them.
So, if you couldn't tell by the name and the summary...this is Chris/Melissa. Superbly well-written. So so so so cute.
Let Me Be Your Hero by idc_chan [3.5k]
Five times Chris struggled to let Allison grow up and one time he couldn't.
Another Chris and Allison one. Loooove a vulnerable Chris moment especially when it's to do with him being a father. Also it's so hard being a fan of the both of them because neither of them can do any wrong in my eyes. Like that is so grandma coded of me.
a new sun pounding by traveller [5.9k] ☆
“Noor Khan, Chris Argent. Chris, Noor.” Jake gestures between them with the H&K he’s holding. “Thanks for coming.” “Watch where you’re pointing that thing,” the woman says in a crisp accent, knocking the gun away with the back of her hand before reaching out to shake Chris’s. “Nice to meet you.”
Oh my GOD. THIS ONE. THIS. ONE. THIS ONE IS SOOOOOOO GOOD. Who would've thought one of the best Chris Argent fics would be him paired up with a character who doesn't even exist in Teen Wolf?!?! Yes, it is Chris Argent/Original Female Character. I don't normally read OC fics but I'm glad I stepped out of my comfort zone for this. Like, turns out there really are people who get him like I get him. A++++
But It Won't Erase by broadcastdelay [8.9k] ☆
When newly-turned werewolves start popping up in Beacon Hills, Chris Argent goes to bring Derek back to town to help clean up the mess. In cleaning up the mess, though, one last werewolf gets created. And somehow that’s not even the most unexpected development in Chris’s life that year.
Oh my God. AND THIS ONEEEEE?!?!?!?! DON'T EVEN GET ME STAAAAAAARTED. Oh, wait, this is my blog and my post. I can literally do whatever I want. This is the second time this author has popped up on this list and for good reason. Their writing style is PERFECT. This remains not only one of my favorite Chris fics, but one of my favorite Teen Wolf fics PERIOD.
Need by Davechicken [9k] ☆
After the loss of his daughter, Chris struggles to find something. Anything. Anything that will make things okay again. He never meant to ask Derek. Well. Sort of.
More Chris/Derek :3 I love love love love love love love this one. It ticks ALL the boxes for me. Perfect.
Steady Hands by thegeminisage [36.5k] ☆
Twenty-four hours after the death of his sister, Chris Argent wakes in Derek Hale's loft with his hands trembling too badly to load and fire a gun, and no matter what he does, he can't make them stop. He made a promise to protect Beacon Hills in Allison's stead, but now he has to decide how he carries on her legacy when he doesn't know if he can fight, if he can ever lay his guilt to rest, and if he's truly capable of doing good when he has already done so much harm.
For my last one, I have...another Chris/Derek fic. This is actually a sequel to another fic they wrote. I didn't put that one in here even though I really like it just because that one leans more towards being Derek focused. Chris kinda goes a lil crazy in this one which I LOOOOOVE. Of course a guy like him would have a nervous breakdown. WHO WOULDN'T IF YOU WERE CONSTANTLY SURROUNDED BY TRAGEDY AND IT WAS LOWKEY ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!
Anyways, if you've made it this far down...thank you xx I really locked in for this guys so YOU BETTER APPRECIATE IT! If this doesn't earn me the title of biggest Chris Argent fan I don't know WHAT will.

Cher-Ek, the fusion/daughter(?) of Shrek and Cher. Done for a friend’s birthday. Based off of the cover of Cher’s Believe album (1998). I realized too late that her torso is too long (when compared with the album cover). I’m not super happy with the shading (I still need to figure out watercoloring). The lettering was done with white out and that is a very unwieldy medium. I’m happy I got to practice watercoloring and I think the base sketch is actually very good for where I am now. Anatomy is ... fine.

The sound of the Wind on the Top of the Mountain
Zhalpak plateau, Cherek gorge in Kabardino-Balkaria. Tall, beautiful and scary at the same time. When you stand in this place, it seems that the wind is about to pick you up and carry you into this abyss.

More Belgariad character art, this time of some of the queens! I absolutely adore them, and wanted to hash out how I imagine them on paper. The clothes are only semi-historical— I took inspiration from English women’s fashion of about 1066-1200 according to John Peacock’s “Costume: 1066 to 1990s” (and remembered how much I love all the various medieval head coverings) but also exercised a fair amount of creative license since they are characters from a fantasy world.

Rebelcaptain Day Six: Tropes
I was shocked to realize that, with my love of fake dating and arranged marriages, I had somehow never written married in Vegas. (Or Space!Vegas, in this case.) Obviously I had to remedy that.
What Happens in Canto Bight
Yonly Tress worked hospitality crew on the run between Canto Bight and Mordonica. She'd thought it was really exciting when she first got the job on the planet-hopper, but after two years of going out and back twice a day, four days a week, it had pretty much settled into boredom.
The run out to Canto Bight wasn't so bad. People were usually happy to be going, already in a party mood. Sometimes people had pregamed in various ways, and she'd perfected the art of wiggling out of roaming hands without causing offense. But it was usually okay, because happy people tipped really well.
The run back was usually much quieter. A lot of people found their seats and immediately fell asleep, or passed out, for the two-hour trip. Others sat staring out the viewports or at datapads. Every once in awhile, they got a belligerent drunk, or someone incredibly pissed off that they'd lost huge amounts of money at the Lose All Your Money resort.
Generally Yonly was relieved when they docked on Mordonica, and not just because it either meant her meal break or that she was done for the day.
To pass the time between planets, the crew often played a game of guessing what had happened in Canto Bight. "Seat 3-Esk," she said to Klaas as they prepped their refreshment carts.
"Lost his shirt," Klaas said immediately.
She looked over her shoulder and nodded. Seat 3-Esk had that hollow-eyed, thousand yard stare of somebody who didn't know how he was going to explain why he didn't have a credit to his name anymore.
"Seat 6-Grek?" She looked a lot happier than 3-Esk, even though she had traces of glittery makeup around her eyes and her hair looked like she'd shoved it under a hat without bothering to wash the product out first.
"Oh, she won big. You see how she's smiling at her datapad and typing messages? She got herself a sugar daddy. Now what about those two in Row 7? Seats Cherek and Dorn."
She studied the couple - a man with a short beard and dark eyes, and a woman with mid-length brownish hair that was slowly losing its trendy wave. They were both in wrinkled but stylish clothing, as if they'd dressed to hit the town many hours before and caught their flight just in time.
"Ooo, that's a tough one. I'm leaning toward went for business, got drunk, and slept together."
"Mmm. I dunno. You ask me, I think they got married."

So, not that I want an adaptation of the Belgariad (I feel like it would not be done well at all), but I keep thinking about some small tweaks to the Merel x Barak storyline that showcase what I love about their story and to not do spousal rape.
I love this story arc because it's bitterness eventually giving way to reconciliation and love. And it showcases angsty Garion's emotional intelligence, not as much as his unwavering faith in Pol x Durnik, but he can still tell his friend is hurting and wants better for him.
BUT the narrative always states that Merel is the problem. Silk says she is a shallow woman. Polgara kind of gloats when she knows Merel is pregnant with a son and says "you had to grow up" when Merel says she didn't realize how sweet Barak is. Of course, the "not even a locked door could keep you out" (paraphrased) line. Yikes yikes yikes on spikes. The implication that Barak cheated on Merel with a lady friend in Val Alorn is also dumb.
So, the fix is actually in the scaffolding of the story. It's obvious to me that Merel was treated as a bargaining chip by her family. Her obsession with duty is because it's how she was raised as a noblewoman. She didn't have a choice in her marriage, it was a duty. Sleeping with her husband is what she is supposed to do. Barak is so in love with her, and once he realizes their marriage is nothing more than a responsibility to her, he is deeply hurt. And maybe she tried and got bitter through his bitterness, or maybe she could never hide how angry and hurt she was that her parents basically sold her off once Barak had political power.
But the thing is, I think she does kinda like him. As soon as Garion comes to Barak with information about the plot in Val Alorn, her coldness drops. What we see is a woman with a great political mind, a quick thinker who urges Barak to stop wallowing in self pity and is 100% behind him when they talk to the king. And sure, she falls back on duty almost immediately, but I think that's to cope with the fact that deep down, she likes Barak and they've been so mean to each other for so long that neither of them can admit that they actually have feelings for each other. I don't think duty alone accounts for the way she backs him, the way she immediately stops being bitter.
Also Barak explicitly trusts her with managing their estate, something that is a big deal in a v sexist Cherek, and that's not lost on Merel.
So, on to the actual fixes. If Silk still says Merel is shallow, Garion should realize that she's a deeply hurt woman used as a political pawn by her family. Sendars don't do arranged marriages that we see, so Garion says something about how lonely she must have felt, and he sees that she relies on responsibility as armor because that's all she knows, her own feelings and desires are so deeply buried. She and Barak are both deeply wounded, and whenever one of them tries to thaw a little, the other is still all hard edges so they never make any progress. I'd advise just talking out the random probably hooker in Val Alorn, but if you wanna keep her, have Barak say he's married now, turn her down flat.
And instead of the locked door line, Merel should say something like "you didn't mind when I took my martial duties seriously your first night here. In fact, you were quite enthusiastic."
It's a very small change, but huge in the implications. One, Barak is not breaking in to have sex with his wife against her will. Two, while it's not the enthusiastic consent we are used to, it's willing consent. So maybe not great by most modern standards, but it's great in the world that's been built. It also kinda implies she initiated. Three, I think it could imply that Barak still loves her and she has some affection for him. That maybe they can get along long enough to have some fun, but then reality comes crashing down and their walls come back up.
Polgara is still amused by Merel's pregnancy, but isn't as smug about it. Then in Riva instead of saying Merel needed time to grow up, she says that the birth of a son tore down the walls they built.
The other thing I'd like to be addressed subtly is why their two daughters didn't thaw their attitude towards each other. The text states that Barak loves his daughters. So their births could have theoretically been a turning point. He's taken by wonder at both of their births, no matter the societal expectation that he needs a son. But Merel feels like she's failed in her duty, and she's afraid they'll be political pawns like her one day. (Barak would never let his daughters be married off unless they wanted it. But since they never truly talk, Merel doesn't realize this.) Merel recognizes Barak's gentleness with their daughters, and thinks kindly of him for it, but it's not enough to tear down those walls. So they are still stuck in this cycle of being standoffish to one another.
When their son is born, she feels like she's finally fulfilled her martial duties. When she asks Barak if she did well, he finally reassures her that yes, she did great, he's not defensive and can't hold back all the years of tenderness and love towards his wife. And that tenderness is so obviously genuine that she believes him. And they finally repair their relationship.
(There's already enough characters in this series, but I feel like Barak chewing out his in-laws would be fun, like if they were there when he first saw Unrak and made a comment about how he must be happy Merel finally fulfilled her duty to give him a son and he flips out on them)

Lineage Cousin AU pt 4
AKA Missed Connections on AO3
Part 1 Part 2 and Part 3 on tumblr.
Bandomeer is a dreary planet with land pockmarked by the remnants of the large ionite mines that had made the planet rich, and an ocean studded with deep-sea mining rigs in an attempt to keep a grasp on the wealth -- poisoning the water now that they've rendered most of the land inhospitable.
AgriCorps' mission here is to help restore the ecosystem on land back to the grassy golden plains of the past. Before greed had them digging massive pits in search of ionite. He doubts that they'll manage it before the water is just as toxic as the soil.
The boy, he is informed, is currently harvesting a crop of Helianthus Mammothans -- enormous plants with bright yellow blossoms and edible seeds usually found on Florrum he can practically hear Qui-Gon lecturing in his ear -- in Pit Cherek Five.
All of the outpost's speeders are in use, unfortunately, so he takes the offered flimsi-map and sets out on foot.
Jocasta had given him a copy of Initiate Kenobi's file. 'Give' might be a generous word to use there. His brief glimpse at the file had only come after he'd sworn to accompany her to the Coruscant Publishers' Expo next month. Books he enjoyed. A stadium packed with hawkers of predominantly low-brow literature for three days was just about as enjoyable as a vacation on... Bandomeer.
He hadn't been impressed with what he'd seen in the file. Initiate Kenobi was a middling student both in academics and applied force theory. He had nearly two pages dedicated to listing his disciplinary citations. The only thing to recommend him as a potential padawan was a modest natural talent for swordsmanship.
Not a single knight expressed an interest in him. Hardly a surprise when the boy was exceedingly average in all the ways that counted.
That his Master had roused himself to make a last ditch effort to pair the boy with Qui-Gon was a surprise. He recognized his Master's claws in the decision to send the boy out to AgriCorps early, coincidentally on the same ship as Qui-Gon. Yoda enjoyed those little "twists" of fate, even if had to engineer them himself.
If you lived as long as Yoda had, he suspected, you started to lose sight that you were meddling with the lives of beings instead of playthings.
Only Qui-Gon had quite spoiled the plot by resisting, for once, the urge to adopt the pathetic lifeform so generously presented to him on a platter.
His Master was quite willing to create a dramatic farce to see the boy apprenticed, but not go so far as taking the boy on himself. Typical -- and likely for the best.
A boy as unremarkable as Kenobi would crumble under the scrutiny of being Yoda's padawan. Yan would know, he was intimately familiar with it.
The barren ground makes the air abominably hot, even with the wind that gusts through the plains. He can feel the collar of his tunic becoming damp with sweat. This whole detour is a complete waste of his time, he knew it before he even left Coruscant.
Qui-Gon felt the boy ought to be trained. He will see this unremarkable boy, confirm that the boy is exactly where he is supposed to be, and then finally leave the Order and it's dewy-eyed hypocrites to rot.
If Qui-Gon felt the boy ought to be trained, he should have taken the boy as his padawan. It's too late now. It's already months past the boy's thirteenth birthday. There's no point to any of this, and yet here is. He has become embarrassingly sentimental in old age.
He arrives to find a pit mine that's filled with plants that are truly gigantic, taller than him, with massive dish-like heads surrounded by a mane of brittle brown petals.
Amongst them dances Novitiate Kenobi with a machete blade. Slaughtered flowers falling around him.
