wilson is so tragic. he was a side character primarily defined by his friendship and loyalty to house and what would house be without wilson?? and so you think wilson is always going to be there. because he has to be. the narrative will protect him because he's a foil for house and that's an important role to fill. he does do bad things and bad things happen to him but at the end of the day he's there and he's kind and caring and would've made a good father and a family man. he was supposed to retire some day. that's what was supposed to happen. instead he just gets fucked over by irony and it isn't fair and he dies without deserving any of it. SAD! oh well there's other oncologists

The most cursed thing happened to me. I was trying to think of Regina Spektor but the name that kept coming to mind was Rebecca Sugar.

Excerpt from this article talking about Chemo Limo. This really resonated with me, how much of her work is about the defiant nature of not being able to change what is happening, and so instead changing how you react and process it.
In Chemo Limo, the woman has no control over her situation, she only has control over how she sees it, and takes it in. She goes out with defiancy, the dream like state the song encaptures.
In December, one of my favourite songs, she goes over the line “we don’t believe in you” the speaker takes control of an uncontrollable situation through belief, as our belief in each other and things is so strong and can shift balances of power. The power being taken away is belief, and there is something defiant yet uncontrollable about that. I cannot stop you, or control you, but I can control what I believe.
In “Dance Anthem Of The 80’s she showcases a defiance and complacency in a cultural setting. Both an understanding, and perpetuating of a cultural idea “there’s a meat market down the street, the boys and the girls watch each other eat” and a questioning “when they really just wanna watch each other sleep” as well as a critical look at it, breaking it down “its been a long time since before I’ve been touched / now I’m getting touched all the time / and it’s only a matter of who / and its only a matter of when” a more critical angle is taken. It sounds woozy and uncomfortable, like someone fed up, yet the ending echoes that same chorus from before, and the complacency is felt again. There is escapism, defiance, in the acknowledgment of it, it is both something you can and cannot escape.
It is not a tangible thing to throw out; nothing is, it is an idea, a norm, a process, that can be only dealt with and interpreted, this is where you gain power over it. Not through the prevention of something, but through the way you deal with it, your defiance to God, to fate, to culture, to normalcy.

Regina Spektor - Chemo Limo. I swear I just noticed that she has a touch of Bjork to her. Song is about chemo treatments and a kick perhaps against US healthcare.

“no thank you
no thank you
no thank you
no thank you
i don’t have to pay for this shit
i can’t afford chemo
like i couldn’t afford a limo
and on any given day i’d rather ride a limousine
no thank you
no thank you
no thank you
no thank you
i ain’t about to die like this
i can’t afford chemo
like i couldn’t afford a limo
and besides this shit is making me tired
it’s making me tired
it’s making me tired
you know i planned to retire some day
but i’m gonna go out in style
go out in style”
