they made b&c a sequence centered on blood and cheese rather than helaena and added a dog for sympathy points and brought that dog back for half a season with ryan saying b&c was green / alicent propaganda and that you almost root for b&c to not get caught. lt's deranged.
they also turned b&c from being a hard task given to cheese because of how well he knew the most guarded part of the red keep to whoopsie daisy we just stumbled upon helaena and her children and guess what guys there's no guards around and the greens didn't give helaena a kingsguard so who's fault is it truly?
they also take focus away from how awful b&c was to a cheap shocking scene of alicole having sex + they made helaena and alicent brush off the death of jaehaerys SO EASILY and alicent spending half the scenes b&c related more worried about how helaena saw her fucking cole.
they had aemond figure he was the target of b&c, but didn't have aemond involved in b&c aftermath at all and instead had him talk about luke only.
they made otto and alicent to be dismissive of aegon (alicent of aemond too) and bring up how cool viserys was. in the season finale alicent is written to refer to her relationship with viserys as being fond of each other, with the directors saying it was a loving marriage. absolutely disturbing.
in an absolutely hilarious move, they had aemond targaryen refer to what the greens are doing as "usurping".
they made rhaenys killing countless people in the the dragonpit for no other reason than a "girlboss" moment to be the fault of the greens actually instead of rhaenys, but they yapped about 12 ratcatchers for half a season.
they made aemond betray aegon at rook's rest and gave a lot of plot armour in that scene to rhaenys with barely any scratches on her before meleys was killed.
they refused to give quality green siblings scenes but we spent a lot of time on irrelevant alicent and rhaenyra shots.
they had alicent be completely different from her book counterpart to the point where does nothing useful for the war effort, holds contempt for her sons and ends up selling them to rhaenyra.
they gave daemon a redemption arc but they barely spent any time doing proper build up to aemond and instead had him go from 0 to 100 with both of his siblings.
do i need to go on?

Hermit Craft Rising AU: Solomon "Impulse" Vanderbilt
Art by the amazing @honeybeebuddy!
“It was amazing, that’s why I did it.”
A former criminal defense lawyer moonlighting as a vigilante turned private mercenary for ConCorp Security Consulting with a little too much mental baggage from his days as the former. Solomon underwent voluntary cyborg conversion at a somewhat minimal level during the events of Hermit Craft: Civil War. During the events of Rising, his internal augmentations became more extensive, although outwardly, he remains normal-looking and almost indistinguishable from unaltered humans. Aside from the usual suite of superhuman powers granted by cybernetic enhancements (enhanced speed and agility, senses, strength, durability, endurance, etc.), Solomon can also attack blindingly fast for short periods and can channel short-range electrical arcs over a few meters if given a power source to draw from. These abilities gave him the nickname "Impulse," which subsequently stuck.
Perhaps a little too friendly and easygoing for his own good - although not a passive nor naive individual, as he’s been burned (literally and figuratively) more than once before by his enemies. He tends to get hung up on his past mistakes, especially the "mac-n'-cheese incident." Carries a far nastier alternate persona known as "Eyesore" that re-emerges during the story, although he brings it under control by the time of the Joebraltar Incident.
Age: 38
Hometown: Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
Signature weapon: Initially, a pair of 8-foot collapsible quarterstaves. These are composed of carbon steel, reinforced via ultra-high-frequency resonant vibration modules that counteract the effects of other similar weapons. Later, he trades the quarterstaves out for a diamond sword single teal-colored (anodized niobium-plated) carbon steel blade with improved resonant technology.

The thing is, Pluto shouldn’t work as well as it does. It’s literally taking Astro Boy and reimagining it as a noir murder mystery/psychological thriller. Taking something cute and lighthearted and making it dark and gritty is such a bullshit concept.
AND YET. That’s not what Pluto is at all. Because for all the cuteness in Astro Boy, the arc Pluto is adapting is about the horrors of war. Osamu Tezuka was a young man during WWII and that absolutely plays a role in a lot of his manga.
And for all that Urasawa’s works have a lot of very dark content and a high body count, there’s always such a beautiful cord of hope and humanity under it all. At the very worst times, there is still kindness and love and hope! Always! Two lonely, deeply traumatized men can have a picnic with good wine and good cheese! A robot that was built to be a weapon of war can learn to play the piano! The world can end, over and over, and we’ll still have music!
Pluto isn’t gritty or grimdark. Like all of Urasawa’s works, it’s got a beautiful, human heart.

Ryan condom forgot that after rhaenyras death we sre supposed to follow aegon if he wants to continue after nyras death so he can put at the end of the series the crown on aegon III, so he eather tries to make people view aegon possitively or have the series end with nyras death and the crown on aegon’s head and people will riot like they did with the mad queen end of got, either way he deserves the hate he is going to get at the end of hotd. But now that i tnik of it the series starts with rhaenyra doing a voice over telling her story so i wonder if he will change the end of the story and all the lore just to have finally a targ kween sit at the iron throne
i've been saying this since forever but making rhaenyra the unequivocal protagonist of the story + writing this show with a protagonist-centered morality framework + shoving 30 years of court drama and political intrigue building up to the actual war in a measly 10 episodes is a huge fucking mistake because
1. the portion of the dance in f&b starts with alicent reading to king jaehaerys as he lays dying, and the dance eventually ends when alicent herself dies. this is thematically important
2. daemon is the unequivocal villain of everyone's story in the dance, including rhaenyra's, and him staying that way is just better and (i'm loath to say it) cooler for his character & arc
3. like asoiaf/got, they should have had multiple protagonists povs spanning different locations for viewers to follow. the teams debate + emotional investment, stakes and satisfaction would have been far more balanced that way
4. rhaenyra dies long before the war ends anyway. like please think ahead when you're writing a show like this dawg
5. aegon just has a better character arc than rhaenyra does (especially if he kills himself). bias aside, it's just factual 🤷♀️
6. season 2's issue is the glacial pacing of character arcs (and some are... straight up just stagnant) while the plot moves its merry way along. we went from blood and cheese to harrenhal exile to rook's rest to regency era to now the sowing but the character work isn't there (and continues to not be there since the set ups and pay offs are almost all offscreened or nonsensical) because condal & co have structured the story in a way that skips 30 years worth of character work and arcs and relationships in favor of getting to the action immediately. they're suffering from that decision now in season 2 rightfully so

Batfamily Presentation Night - Pizza - Jason
Masterlist
Jason: Alright fuckers, my turn.
Tim: Uh oh.
Steph: This is going to go one of two ways.
Steph: Okay, I now know which way this is going.
Jason: For the record, I made this presentation last night after accidentally making eye contact with Bruce, so if I seem very angry, that's why - and it's mostly justified. Damian, I don't hate your pizza that much, but it's still bad.
Damian: You're just jealous.
Duke: I respect using your status as a criminal like it's a title.
Jason: It's my full legal name, actually.
Dick: EXCUSE ME?
Babs: Jay, are you really going to turn against me like this?
Jason: I stand by this entirely. Cheese pizza is boring and no one likes Dick Grayson.
Duke: I think he's pretty cool.
Jason: You haven't known him long enough.
Dick: :(
Cass: I like Dick.
Tim: [snorts]
Babs: I - You do know -
Jason: Again, I stand by everything stated on this slide.
Duke: This is oddly philosophical.
Steph: Jason you're no longer my favourite Robin.
Jason: You act like I care at all.
Duke: Man I'm just sitting here and I'm just being ATTACKED on ALL FRONTS.
Steph: PINEAPPLE DOESN'T BELONG ON FUCKING PIZZA YOU HETHAN.
Bruce: Stephanie, get off the table.
Steph: Stfu Bruce you're old.
Bruce: ...
Tim: [sips coffee loudly] I dunno what all the fuss is about, it's just Pizza.
Steph: Shut up Tim you're a war criminal.
Damian: I don't mind the taste of pineapple on pizza. It's not bad, but I don't understand why you're so angry about it, Brown.
Steph: I hate this FUCKING FAMILY.
Cass: You love us. :)
Damian: TODD -
Bruce: Damian, off the table. Don't try to stab your brother.
Jason: He can try.
Damian: This is why Mother didn't want you around me.
Steph: WOAH -
[Long, collective silence]
Steph: Bruce what?
Bruce: I don't like getting grease on my fingers.
Steph: BRUCE WHAT?
Tim: The disrespect on this slide.
Steph: WE CANNOT GLOSS OVER BRUCE EATING WITH A FORK AND KNIFE.
Duke: Rich people...
Jason: You're one of us now, Shrimp.
Duke: Aw, shit.
Duke: The animosity...
Dick: I'm on the edge of my seat.
Tim: Not the STOCK image.
[uproar]
Steph: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, JASON?
Dick: HUH?
Damian: You put... fish on your pizza? Todd, what has gotten into you?
Duke: I'm gonna hyperventilate.
Tim: Lord, give me strength...
Duke: All of you were hating on MY TASTE, meanwhile Jason was RIGHT HERE the WHOLE TIME.
Steph: You're going to hell. Straight, DIRECTLY to hell.
Babs: Because nothing else Jason has ever done will land him in hell.
Steph: EVERYTHING ELSE HE DID WAS JUSTIFIED.
Bruce: Stephanie...
Steph: YOU CAN'T DEFEND THIS BRUCE HE PUT FUCKING FISH ON PIZZA.
Steph: NO, NOTHING you say is going to fix this Jason. I'm disowning you.
Tim: Half the time you aren't even one of us because -
Steph: SHUT UP DRAKE!! I'M GOING THROUGH A BREAKDOWN RIGHT NOW LEAVE ME ALONE. This is it this is my Jason Arc.
Duke: [loud breathing]
Damian: This whole event is unnecessary. I've got better things to do -
Jason: If I can't escape family bonding time, you can't escape family bonding time.
Damian: Tt.
Tim: Steph, are you good now?
Steph: No. I'm never going to recover from this.
Duke: I am no longer hyperventilating.
Dick: Let's just - move on -
Tim: I'll go next.
Steph: Uh oh.

Since I had a good drink with my THG buddies again, I’m just gonna drop my personal TOP 10 favorite TBOSAS fanfics of the month. My previous list is [this] if anyone wants to read. Cheers!
So here they are:
1. With Age Comes Love by morelikediscordinated
It’s that Snowjanus story that surprisingly pulled all of my heartstrings in one sitting. It includes a lot of kissing and some misunderstandings here and there. However, it gave us delulu folks the happy ending that we secretly want from our two walking disasters.😘
2. Arrangements by helloimdeadinside
It’s a greatly written ongoing Snowjanus story that features two awkward teenagers who were arranged to be married by a scheming Strabo Plinth because of political reasons. To be fair, Grandma’am was the one who agreed to the match. So enjoy~.😏
3. Hear it call to me, constantly by ColorMeHappy
It’s a great Snowjanus story within an ongoing series that features a lot of crying from Sejanus and a world changing breakdown from Coryo. 10/10. Would read again.
4. Hate is a strong word by KatcadeCascade
This is one of my personal favorite Snowjanus oneshots ever. That’s it. That’s all I can say. So just start reading this masterpiece while I’ll start eating some Gouda cheese.
5. To Where She Flew by madzdolin
It’s a greatly written ongoing SnowBaird story that explores a lot of different “What Ifs” to make a compelling narrative. Also, we got your usual amnesia trope, redemption arcs, well written side characters, and Capitol conspiracies.
6. Blood of my blood by loveshazel
This is the SnowBaird story where Coryo’s parents are still alive and kicking along with their irreversible war traumas. Also, our poor cabbage boy’s little sister is there too.
7. A Bird in the Hand by horrormoviebarbie
This is that ongoing SnowBaird story where crazy Coryo is trying his best to fight off his destined redemption arc until he gives up and joins the good side unwillingly.😭🤣
8. Nothing Burns Like The Snow by evilweasel
This ongoing SnowBaird story features our favorite Crazy Peepaw Snow living his best life with Sweet Meemaw Baird. Meanwhile, Katniss and fam are starving and the only thing she wants in order for Prim to survive is by adopting the old crazy couple whether they like it or not. And Crazy Peepaw Plinth is also alive, I guess?
9. i deserve it, don’t i by ColorMeHappy
This greatly written Snowjanus oneshot is really sweet and is filled with sweets. I mean, it literally features a starving Coryo wanting to eat chocolates and cookies. So Sejanus bakes and provides for his poor cabbage boy.
10. Cyanide Dipped Roses by Angelsbite_demonkiss
It’s that ongoing Snowjanus Omegaverse that features a desperate Coryo who was forced to change his dreams and future plans because of his omega status. And because freaking Dean Highbottom bent the rules again out of spite. So the only way to secure the House of Snow’s future is to marry a rich man who is willing to provide everything for our poor cabbage boy. #SugarBabyCoryoSnowisonthemove
SPECIAL MENTION: These TBOSAS stories are also great to read on the weekend.😉
1. The Capitol’s Dilemma by way_too_many_fandoms
2. Red skirt by Blue_green_purple
3. Hand in hand (me on my knees) by DevHasIssues
4. Like Melting Snow by egg_thief

#spoileralert!
Just rereaded chapter 248 of World Trigger again because there was no update this month and I came to a new realization about Osamu.
It was Hyuse's "...Osamu and his ilk are almost too unique" and Mikumo's "Think up a bunch of cheese tactcs to annoy the enemy into submission!" when they were explaining why Rokurō could be a good instructor in the future.
In the last time I only focused on the Rokurō's strength, Hyuse's explanation because I have been wondering that question too! But this time this sentence hit me hard as I realized Osamu has come a long way to this day. And the captain of number #2 B-rank squad is not just an ordinary person.
From the start of the anime, Mikumo was sort of an annoying character who was weak with a hero complex. If it were Kuga, who had the strength, wanted to save people, it might be a more lovable character design. But in an action series, being weak CAN BE considered as A CRIME. It's not hard to find those old comments about how frustrated they felt when watching Osamu.
My point is, my first impression of Osamu is only slightly better than those comments, but that because I was recommended strongly by my friend and not because I thought Osamu would have one of the best development. I actually quite like Osamu at the beginning too, because I'm weak for hero-type character.
But now thinking back, Osamu is a weird one at the beginning. He didn't save people because he thought they need saving, but more because he thought that something he should do. Other than that, he seems like all the typical hero characters with his selflessness and humble nature.
But in the Aftokrator Arcs? That's when I knew I was wrong about my assumptions. Apart from how crazy his action was, y'know risking his life to protect a FAKE cube, to achieve his goal of saving Chika. This is another worm I would love to dwell in on another post. I was shell-shocked to know Osamu had tried to break in the Border with pliers because he didn't satisfy with hia result. FOR WHAT? What are you even gonna do? Negotiating with the higher-ups?
There are actually many theories about what Osamu did, because as we all know, he DID become a member. But that's aside, I had the secondhand embarrassment when I watched what he did on the press conference. All of this is NOT what I expected about Osamu!!! It's exactly like a comment I saw on YT "He knew the rules, it's just to him his rules are first". And while it's completely far from I expected, somehow I didn't feel a single bit out of character, that's just the author's talent.
And in the Rank War Arcs, Osamu did bring his role as a strategy character to a new high-level if you thought about what their team had achieved. Even though Tamakoma-2 was nothing like a typical newbie squad, but still Osamu's effort is nothing to sneeze at. But do you know what's even better? That's us, the readers, normally don't feel like Osamu is that extraordinary or a super talented individual.
Until Hyuse pointed out how not everyone could repeat Osamu's actions, I always believed Osamu is a character who can be considered as normal type, except he also has good tactic-thinking. I mean, woah, completely caught me off. It was because the author had described Osamu's thinking process in detailed, there were no sudden buff-up training arcs, only hard work and determination, no friendship power, except you count Osamu's motivation.
And considering how Osamu had no exceptional background, his development is more impressive. He came from a weak character who would receive more critics than praises, to an outstanding character. He's not an overpowered opponent but the type if you left him alone, he would cause serious damage to your team.
Now the closed-environment phrase in manga Osamu is cooking hard, showing what he had learned in their squad's resuls. And better yet, his tricks always strive as a one-time trick, or even something anyone can come up with. But there is Hyuse, or rather the author, confirm that's no. Not everyone could continuously come up with effective strategies like Osamu. That was his own fighting way. And the developing process was so convincing that I, myself, didn't realize how far he had gone.
That's my thoughts from exactly a manga panels lol.

Hey, I started reading Robin son of Batman because of your recommendation (I literally have a print of your post on my phone to not forget lol). Honestly? One of the best things I ever read!!!
Thank you for opening my eyes! Damian has been one of my favorite characters for over a year, but I didn't read/watch much of him because of school, life (and probably an executive dysfunction in the mix).
Maya is incredible. I loved her.
I haven't finished all the issues yet, but do you have any other recommendations?
WAH this makes me so happy, i'm glad you still gave it a shot even with how busy life is!! ;v;
i’d love to give reccs, and i’ll try to go a beginner friendly route! tbh you can pick up whatever here, but since you've read R:SOB i’d immediately follow up with Batman and Robin (2011) #1-8! this first arc is what’s referred to in Maya’s introduction, and it's just. so good.
Main Books
Batman and Robin (2009)
Dick as Batman with Damian as his Robin!
#20-22 Tree of Blood: Dark Knight vs White Knight arc is done by Tomasi and Gleason, the team for the next Batman and Robin series
*Batman and Robin (2011)
Bruce and Damian figuring out their relationship as both Batman & Robin and father & son
imo you can enjoy the ride and read straight through this but i’ll add context to avoid as much confusion as possible since there’s the occasional tie-in or offscreen events, like Damian’s death nbd
Batman Incorporated (2012) #1-10
events leading to Damian's death - affects Batman and Robin (2011) from issue #18
kind of a tough read especially with how Talia's written, but a lot of iconic bits like Batcow, Damian's vegetarian declaration, Alfred the cat, "We Were the Best, Richard."
Robin (2021)
another self-discovery adventure, particularly after Alfred’s death and a fallout with Bruce (and questionable writing choices from his last Teen Titans run)
Batman and Robin (2023)
currently ongoing! after a number of events, Bruce and Damian are back as a duo
Damian Dynamics!
Batman: Streets of Gotham (2009) #7, 10-12
arc where Damian meets one of his first Gotham friends, Colin Wilkes
Batgirl (2009) #5-7, #17
Steph and Damian dynamic! "the bad cop, worse cop" dysfunctional duo
Red Robin (2009) #13-14
early Tim and Damian dynamic that of course includes fighting haha. funny enough, accidentally my first intro to Damian LOL
Teen Titans (2003) #89-92
Dick!Batman has Damian join the Teen Titans. Start of Damian and Rose Wilson dynamic that’s extended in Robin (2021)
Batman: Gates of Gotham (2011)
Damian meets Cass and has a brief team up
Gotham Academy (2015) #7
Damian meets Maps Mizoguchi! they have a few other meetings, but outside of that the series itself is a great read!
Robin War Event (2015)
Robin War (2015) #1, Grayson (2014) #15, Detective Comics (2011) #47, We Are Robin (2015) #7, Robin: Son of Batman (2015) #7, Robin War (2015) #2
Duke and Damian dynamic! not exactly beginner friendly but these are the main issues in order for the event! you can also read the TPB version for everything including Tie-Ins
Nightwing (2016) #16-20, #42, #43
#16-20 Nightwing and Robin arc!
#42 Dick on a mission to save Damian! the one appearance of "Wiggles" the dragon
#43 Dick, Roy, and Damian team-up
New Talent Showcase 2018 "Catwoman: Pedigree"
Selina, Damian, and Alfred the cat
Batman: Prelude to the Wedding - Robin vs. Ra's Al Ghul (2018)
Selina, Damian, and Cheese Viking - Damian's fav game shown in Nightwing: Rebirth (2016)
Monkey Prince (2022) #1-4
Marcus Sun Shugel-Shen's main comic, but Damian features as a fun dynamic here before they're in more serious circumstances in Batman VS Robin (2022)/Lazarus Planet event
Superman (2016) #10 - 11
the beginning of the Super Sons! featuring Maya!
Super Sons (2017)
solitary arcs but there’s a few event tie-in issues later
Adventures of the Super Sons (2018)
literally more Super Sons adventures lol galactic shenanigans yeehaw
Challenge of the Super Sons (2020)
Super Sons time shenanigans feat. the Justice League
Robin 80th Anniversary (2020)
"Boy Wonders" - brief Damian feature as Tim considers his next step in life
"My Best Friend" - Jon's thoughts on Damian and their dynamic
"Bat and Mouse" - refers to Damian's unfortunate Teen Titans (2016) run at the time of release which follows up with Teen Titans Annual #2 where Damian briefly gives up Robin
Extra Comics!
Superman/Batman (2003) #77
Kara and Damian in a Halloween team-up! also the appearance of "Li'l Matches" lol
DCU Halloween Special '09 "Cavity Search"
Damian out on a solo mission for Halloween night. Immediately after is Tim's Red Robin story "Then and Now: Our Father's Sins" which is more somber in contrast but also a good read!
DCU Halloween Special 2010 "Robin the Vampire Slayer"
a Dick!Batman and Robin story featuring the vampire Andrew Bennett
Cursed Comics Cavalcade (2018) "The Devil You Know"
Halloween themed comic with a sweet short story of Damian alongside Solomon Grundy
DC's Terrors Through Time (2022)
"Trick or Treat" a Super Sons Halloween story
"The Haunting of Wayne Manor" Damian and Deadman story - in the end, Boston kinda refers to Nezha's possession of Damian in Batman VS Robin (2022) which was happening at the time of this release
Batman: Li'l Gotham (2013)
lighthearted series that instantly makes me smile with the silliness and Dustin Nguyen’s art i love this dearly
Secret Origins (2014) #4 "A Boy's Life"
a retelling of Damian's origin story
Detective Comics (2016) #1001-1005
Batman and Robin vs the Arkham Knight (unrelated to the game)
Truth & Justice (2021) #6/#16 - 18 Digital First version
cute story of Damian’s birthday! Juni Ba’s art is so fun!!
DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration (2021) “Special Delivery”
short story about Damian! and poisoned pizzas. completely forgot the artist Sami Basri drew Rebirth Damian here before catboy Damian lol Cass’s story “Sounds” is also cute! Marcus makes his first appearance in "The Monkey Prince Hates Superheroes"
DC VS Vampires (2021)
Damian makes appearances throughout this elseworlds book, but the one-shot DC VS Vampires: Hunters (2022) is vampire Damian-centric!
Batman: Black and White (2021) #5
“Father & Son Outing” short story written and drawn by Jorge Jimenez!
Batman: Urban Legends (2021) #20-23
#20 “My Son” Talia and Bruce focus
#20 - 23 “The Murder Club” 4 Parts
Tiny Titans (2008) #33, #39, #45, #47
a few appearances but SO CUTE, LOOK AT HIM
*Batman and Robin (2011) reading guide
i'm mostly trying to avoid the "what did i just walk in on?" kinda feeling when i first started reading comics LOL i'll list the comics where events take place, but you don't necessarily have to read them to go through this book since things are usually explained as quickly as possible in the first page or so
#0 Someday Never Comes
Talia and baby Damian before he grows up to meet Bruce
#1-8 Born to Kill
just an incredibly solid arc for Bruce and Damian!
#9 Court of Owls Tie-In Issue

#10-12 Terminus
Damian challenges the previous Robins sans Steph
Batman Incorporated (2012) is occurring at this time where Talia has placed a bounty on Damian and there's small mentions of that
#13-14 Eclipsed/Devoured
mostly solitary arc! end of it leads into the Death of the Family event
#15-16 Death of the Family Tie-In Issues
Damian and Joker face-off... Alfred's been kidnapped by the Joker, and Damian goes looking for him. During Batman (2011) #13-17
#17 Life is but a Dream - Death of the Family Epilogue
a sort of subconscious check-in through the dreams of Damian, Alfred, and Bruce. Nightwing (2011) #17 features Damian encouraging Dick after Death of the Family events
#18 Undone "Requiem"
Bruce dealing with Damian's death from Batman Incorporated #8
other reactions to Damian's death: Dick in Nightwing (2011) #18, Tim in Teen Titans (2011) #18
#19-23 Denial, Rage, The Bargain, Despair, Acceptance
Bruce through the stages of grief with some batfam appearances in each. also introduces Carrie Kelley into continuity as Damian's acting tutor.
Batman (2011) #19-20 also addresses Bruce's loss
#23.1-23.4
these could be skipped - villain stories, also related to Forever Evil event.
#24-28 The Big Burn
optional Batman and Two-Face/Harvey Dent arc, #23.1 is part of this story!
Damian's resurrection and return
#29-32 The Hunt for Robin
Ras took Talia and Damian's bodies from their graves, and Bruce goes after him.
-> Robin Rises: Omega
continues events from #32. if you don't want to jump to this, basically, Glorious Godfrey and a bunch of parademons from Apokolips are here for a chaos shard which Ra's put in Damian's sarcophagus. at some point, Bruce gets a hold of the shard where he sees a vision that leads him to believe Damian can be resurrected. Godfrey ends up taking the shard, along with Damian's body since it was emitting the same energy.
#33-37 Robin Rises
Bruce hellbent on retrieving Damian from Apokolips and reviving him
-> Robin Rises: Alpha
necessary to read and continues events from #37! Damian's back with a bang lol

potential spoilers for s2 of HOTD (leaks)
after a day of thinking about it, i'm actually okay with a potential alicole sex scene. i just really am not looking forward to memes making fun of alicent ("she just needed an orgasm"), calling her a hypocrite, etc.
i honestly think this major change alicent has gone through of having a lot of power politically as the queen to now just being the dowager queen could make her go through an identity crisis. she's just the king's mother now. she worked so hard for this, and it sucks. she's (in her head) done everything by the books, she's morally just, she's devoted her life to serving the king & the realm, she's done her duty, and now there's going to be war.
even if you headcanon alicent as a lesbian, she does not know that about herself. and, even if she did, she wouldn't believe it or do anything about it. she has always been sexually repressed because from what we have seen, she has NEVER had a consensual sexual relationship with someone in her entire life. if she wants to experiment sexually in search of identity, i honestly think that is a good and interesting direction for her character this season. and maybe it will even help the general audience like her more, since she's choosing for herself liberation sexually (but this is just wishful thinking). the main complaint about alicent last season was just a lack of autonomy and perpetual victimhood. while i disagree with that, i feel like this entire arc might help her find herself more & gain some autonomy back. but i just don't really see why she'd be experimenting sexually in the midst of all this turmoil unfolding.
major actual spoilers:
fabien said in a recent interview that criston feels very guilty because he was with alicent (in her chambers, i'm assuming) DURING BLOOD & CHEESE 😭. i really hope i'm misunderstanding but it sounds pretty clear in the video that that is what happens. so maybe the one time that alicent decides to have sex upon her own volition her grandchildren and daughter are attacked and one is murdered??? i just know now that is why she seems so depressed and guilty in every clip we've seen so far. probably why she tries to drown herself in the bathtub. both her and criston are just going to be completely guilt ridden and i guess i don't know how to feel about it until we really see it, i just hope the writing is good. that's all that i need to be on board. i need the sex scene to make sense, time & place, and i hope there is some buildup prior to it etc.

House of the Dragon Review
The Good:
- Aegon and Tom Glynn Carney. Aegon is the one compelling character this season, and his arc is great. He tries to be a good King but can’t protect his son. He tries to get Alicent’s love, but can’t no matter what. He tries to save his people but he gets destroyed in the process. He trusts his brother who betrays him. And Tom acts with his whole heart and soul. They’re truly the only good this season and the only reason I’ll keep watching
- Larys, Matthew Needham, and his relationship with Aegon. Just *chef’s kiss* The best relationship on the show. So much manipulation but genuine growing fondness too. Can’t wait to see Tom and Matthew inevitably do press for season 3 together and talk about the relationship in depth
- Ramin’s score. He is the only thing that’s consistent through GOT and HotD
The Meh:
- Rhys Ifans is a great Otto, but they criminally underutilized them
- Rook’s Rest was an amazing episode but they still had Rhaenyra be the hero by giving her a “divine” reason to go to war
- Episode 1 also was meh because Blood and Cheese being botched ruined what would otherwise be a great episode
- Ep 2 is similar to Ep 1. LOVED the Green scenes and the Twin scene, but they had Rhaenyra feel bad about what happened which is SO out of character. I also don’t like the propaganda angle they took with Blood and Cheese with Otto
- Aemond becoming his book self was great, but it was done rushed and sloppily. They underutilized both Aemond and Ewan
- Phia and Helaena are also great but again, criminally underutilized
- Olivia is a fantastic actress, despite what they did to Alicent
- The Dragon seeds being burnt by Vermithor would be in the Good if they didn’t try to brush it off and still claim Rhaenyra’s innocent
- Daenon and Alys scenes were either incredible or a total snooze fest. No inbetween. They were repetitive and not all the Daemon haunted scenes were necessary. Matt and Gayle are great though
- Criston and Fabien are underutilized, especially post Rook’s Rest
The Bad:
- What they did to Alicent. It is unforgivable. They threw her character away in favor of Rhaenyra. They can’t stand the thought that a woman doesn’t worship Rhaenyra
- Everything with Team Black. This is not hyperbole. The scenes were dull, designed to sanitize them so they are the Good guys and destroy them in the process. The actors, I’m sorry to say, are not on the level of the Green actors. Even the better Black actors (Emma and Steve) have stiff moments through the season
- Sexual humiliation and degradation of the Greens. This isn’t the place to get into it, but people have talked about it elsewhere
- Sanitizing Rhaenyra still, even after episode 7 and trying to make her a hero
- Sanitizing Viserys. The man raped Alicent and abused his children that weren’t Rhaenyra. Why are the Greens holding him in high regard?
Overall, I’d say a 5/10. All it took was the show having Black centered episodes to descend into GOT season 8 levels, since the Green episodes are SIGNIFICANTLY better

Honestly, when the Kwamis says that Marinette/Adrien is the best holder, I take it as them being the ones with the best relationships with the kwamis, not in regards to their actual superhero performances. Their previous holders were probably adults who probably either put them back immediately after completing a mission or were super strict with them because of the Order's rules.
Their previous holders also wouldn't have listened to their advice or even had conversations as they were too busy fighting wars or a danger equivalent to that, even outside the costume. Their food must've been bland as well due to food shortages in hard times like war, and thats if they got food.
Adrienette, on the other hand? Marinette feeds Tikki delicious cookies and talks with her whenever she wants. Compared to the previous Ladybugs, she's super nice! So who cares if she keeps a few secrets from her partner and isn't the best leader ever? Still the best Ladybug according to Tikki!
Adrien gets Plagg the most delicious cheeses from around the world, and lets him have however much he wants! He takes Plagg's advice (even if it isn't always the best) often and even lets him play with his piano and games (I'm not super sure about the games part, but there is a piano scene). Has he mentioned the cheese? Man, this kid is the best! Even if he does have fun on the clock and get distracted during fights a scary number of times.
Also, Plagg and Tikki are probably treated way more humanely (pun intended) with Adrien and Marinette than their previous holders, who were probably very religious and might have seen them as some sort of demons. Plagg and Tikki also aren't all there for the screw-ups as Ladybug and Chat Noir.
In Plagg's case, he also has little regard for consequences and threatens to cataclysm Chloe, even though he was seemingly fine with Adrien being abused and kept inside solitary confinement for an indefinite amount of time.
(Post that spawned this ask)
It's hard to imagine that Marinette and Adrien are the only holders who have treated Tikki and Plagg well or had a close relationship with them given how long they've been working with humans. We know that - at the absolute minimum - they have been actively working with humans since the 1300's BCE. We know this because - while The Pharaoh's Egyptology was appallingly bad - it does name-drop real people who actually lived during the 1300's BCE so the mirauclous were made sometime around or before then.
Similarly, Reunion used real-human-being Joan of Arc and showed her having a positive relationship with Tikki:
Tikki: Only you and I can see the holders that came before you, Marinette. Hello, Joan! Nice to see you again! Joan: Tikki, you vile little gargoyle! Still as greedy as you used to be.
Joan of Arc was historically active from age 16 to her death at age 19 and the show replaced her being called by the Christian God at 16 with her getting a miraculous at 16 (I'm not religious, but that was kind of gross to me). Joan's memories show her finding the miraculous and fighting with no guardian involvement, pretty directly contraindicating your assumption that:
Their previous holders were probably adults who probably either put them back immediately after completing a mission or were super strict with them because of the Order's rules. Their previous holders also wouldn't have listened to their advice or even had conversations as they were too busy fighting wars or a danger equivalent to that, even outside the costume.
Which isn't to say this is a bad idea for how to make Plagg and Tikki's "best holder ever" claims feel more realistic! It's just not an idea that's really backed by canon even though it honestly should have been. Fu's memories and Su Han's everything paint the order as incredibly strict so I'm still confused as to how Joan of Arc even got a miraculous. Why the heck were the guardians messing around in non-magical European conflicts during the 1400's CE? Why were they arming both sides? And why was Plagg even involved when Su Han's says that Plagg should never be allowed to roam free because of things he did millennia ago?
Su-Han: So this is the modern world: protected by a group of careless fools. Guardians must never wear a Miraculous! Some jewels missing and Plagg roaming free?! The end of dinosaurs and dragons. Doesn't that alarm anyone?!
That directly contradicts everything about Joan's story since her memories have her fighting a black cat for months, meaning that Plagg was very much allowed to roam free for some reason. As always, this show's lore is nonsense.
All that being said, the "best holder ever" thing being a dumb line is 100% a nitpick that I only commented on as a lighthearted joke. It doesn't actually matter if they're the best holders ever. In a better show, I wouldn't even comment on the line feeling forced even though it's one of those tropes that always gets under my skin. I hate "best X ever" statements.
Quick note for those who want to use lines like this without breaking the audience's immersion: just add the word "one" and the debate about its accuracy goes away or is at least significantly softened. "You're one of the best holders I've ever had" is still solid praise. It's just no longer establishing a ranking system that someone might pause to question.

Daemon Targaryen: No Redemption Arc in Fire & Blood
There is no redemption arc for Daemon in Fire & Blood. He has no regrets!
Jaehaerys’ murder was a casualty of war. A sort of stray bullet. Daemon most likely ordered the assassination of Aegon II, and if that wasn’t possible, then Aemond. Or the other way around. And if neither could be reached, the next best option was to kill someone whose death would hurt them, as long as it was a son. If Daemon truly had control over the situation, he would have eliminated both boys. Why leave two male heirs alive? And doesn’t Visenya count as another life lost? He just told Blood and Cheese to do whatever they could, as long as it was a son.
So no, he doesn’t care about Jaehaerys’ murder—especially after losing his own son.
Daemon’s arc ended in 129 AC
In my opinion, Daemon’s active character arc effectively ends in 129 AC. Why? Because that’s where The Rogue Prince ends. This novella is exclusively about Daemon. Everything you need to know and understand about him is there. His characterisation is explicitly fleshed out, and the story concludes just as the focus shifts toward his children, particularly Baela.
- Side note: READ THE NOVELLAS! Many assume that if you’ve read Fire & Blood, there’s no need to read The Rogue Prince or The Princess and the Queen. That’s not true. The novellas are more straightforward, focusing on events and chronology rather than conflicting sources. I’m not saying that they are completely reliable: the narrator is biased as well. However, Fire & Blood expands the theme of historiography, and how it can be stretched and torn and pulled at, to serve one’s interests (Hello Eustace), to create narratives around certain characters, to degrade them and to uphold the system that they are, willingly or not, challenging. But the novellas make certain things easier to understand—like Rhaenyra and the dragonseeds. Let’s say that they contain the strict essential, the actual and most important elements and parts of the story
Daemon obviously plays an important role during the Dance, but his most significant moment is his death. In fact, the real central dynamic within the Black faction is between Rhaenyra and Corlys Velaryon.
Yes, you heard me.
Rhaenyra & Corlys was the actual dynamic of power struggle within the Black faction during the Dance
Rhaenyra, in her council, often sought a middle ground. She listened to Corlys more than she did to Daemon. After Rhaenys’ death, her relationship with Corlys soured. It was Jace who mended the rift by naming Corlys Hand of the Queen. When Jace died in the Battle of the Gullet, Corlys suffered immense personal and financial losses. His power and influence had been severely damaged.
But Rhaenyra needed the Velaryon fleet. It was crucial for defending King’s Landing, even as a force of deterrence. She couldn’t afford to lose Corlys’ support—and we all know what happened when she did.
This meant she had to stay in his favour. She chose his counsel over Daemon’s in critical matters:
The Rosby & Stokeworth succession Daemon wanted to marry the two girls to Ulf and Hugh, to reward them for their valour in battle, letting the girls inherit over their younger brothers.
Corlys warned Rhaenyra that this was a terrible idea.
She listened to Corlys.
“Rhaenyra's own claim to the Iron Throne was a special case, the Sea Snake insisted; her father had named her as his heir.Lords Rosby and Stokeworth had done no such thing. Disinheriting their sons in favor of their daughters would overturn centuries of law and precedent, and call into question the rights of scores of other lords throughout Westeros whose own claims might be seen as inferior to those of elder sisters. It was fear of losing the support of such lords, Munkun asserts in True Telling, that led the queen to decide in favor of Lord Corlys rather than Prince Daemon.”
Destroying the Lannisters & Baratheons
Daemon proposed wiping them out rather than offering pardons.
Rhaenyra sided with Corlys’ judgment instead.
« Half the lords of Westeros will turn against us if we are so cruel as to destroy two such ancient and noble houses,” Lord Corlys said. It fell to the queen herself to choose between her consort and her Hand. Rhaenyra decided to steer a middle course.”
At best, she occasionally found a middle ground that scarcely included Daemon’s advice. This wasn’t satisfying—to him. It reminded him (above all) of Viserys and Otto, and Daemon had always been sidelined by his brother:
« King Viserys sent him into exile, never to return to the Seven Kingdoms on pain of death. »
And now, he felt that the same thing was happening with his wife. But this time, it was worse—because he was her consort and protector. This shouldn’t have happened. He had been a liability to Viserys, but Rhaenyra had chosen him. And still, it wasn’t enough. He fought for her, for their cause, and yet he wasn’t valued the way he wanted to be. The thing is: he was literally PROTECTOR OF THE REALM!
Mysaria Enters the Game…
Let’s put aside Eustace’s unfounded claim that Rhaenyra allowed Daemon to sleep with Mysaria. That’s not in The Princess and the Queen. Eustace isn’t even a major source in the novella. It’s PRECISELY the reason why, in fact. He gives no citations—he simply states it out of nowhere. It could be true, who knows? It is simply that it is IRRELEVANT in this narrative in particular
Eustace is deeply misogynistic. He despises women, views Mysaria as a harlot, and likely disdains her for being foreign. His claim about Rhaenyra gaining weight is another example—he doesn’t explain when, why, or how. It’s a baseless attack meant to degrade her.
Now, let’s talk about Mysaria’s actual role. From what we can gather, Rhaenyra relied on Mysaria a lot. In fact, Mysaria may have been closer to Rhaenyra than she was to Daemon. So when Daemon left for Maidenpool, he lost whatever influence he still had over his wife. Then came the letter.
“A queen’s words, a whore’s work.”
Daemon’s immediate reaction is explicit sadness—strong enough that the maester recording the event describes it with particularly striking words. Daemon’s emotions are rarely noticed or described in Fire & Blood, so this moment stands out
Compare it to his reaction when a messenger told him that Viserys had remarried to Alicent: he violently beat the man. There’s a clear parallel between Otto and Mysaria/Corlys (albeit in a different way).
Daemon frames Mysaria as the one responsible for the letter—but he has no proof. This suggests that he couldn’t accept the idea that Rhaenyra had lost faith in him on her own. That wasn’t the woman he married. He couldn’t bear the thought that she would think him a traitor. That’s why he couldn’t even accuse her directly. Again, Daemon frames Mysaria—she’s the mistress of whisperers, after all. But he has no proof that she was behind the letter (I made a post about this). This implies that Daemon felt his wife was straying away from him, to the point of accusing him (in all but name) of high treason.
(Here’s what actually occurred in the Black Council)
Viserys had also rejected Daemon, often humiliating him, and now Rhaenyra was doing the same—sending a raven that he wasn’t meant to read, a letter that would ultimately spread rumours about him. And that’s exactly what happened after the war, fueling Eustace’s account, Mushroom’s testimony, and Gyldayn’s eventual belief that the rumours of Daemon and Nettles had some credibility.
EVERYTHING STEMS FROM THE LETTER!
In The Princess and the Queen, the supposed affair is mentioned for the first time…when the raven arrives—not before. This makes it clear that Rhaenyra used a grave but false pretext to conceal the dire situation at Tumbleton from the Mootons.
The only reason Gyldayn even focused on Maidenpool’s chronicles was because of the letter. Had Rhaenyra used a different excuse, he might not have paid any attention to Norren’s account. But he did. That led him to Eustace’s version of events. Mushroom, too, simply repeated the rumours he had heard—years after the war—without adding his usual salacious embellishments. Which is surprising….but he wasn’t there, after all.
This is why Gyldayn partially believes the rumour: because every account traces back to the letter.
And yes, I am explicitly saying that Mysaria was nowhere near as responsible for Rhaenyra’s downfall as many in the fandom might believe.
Meanwhile, Rhaenyra was likely spending more time with Mysaria, further sidelining Daemon.
This is why he just gave up. He went on a suicide mission. He was done. He was depressed.
We don’t talk enough about Daemon’s reactions to the deaths of his children, simply because Fire & Blood doesn’t cover it—he was at Harrenhal every time it happened. But we must take it into account. His last crushing loss was his own son, Viserys, whom he believed to be dead. A seven-year-old, who likely suffered a painful end. (As readers, we know that’s not what happened.)
By letting Nettles go, Daemon was making a final stand for what he believed in. He thought Rhaenyra still had the upper hand and that she would destroy the Mootons for their defiance. And he did not care in the slightest.
Saving Nettles was the last good thing he could do. It was his way of stopping the Blacks from sullying themselves by executing a 17-year-old girl in her bed like an outlaw. That wasn’t the cause he had fought for. Nettles deserved better than that, and he refused to lose someone who was dear to him, once more. He truly cared about her and the whole situation was his last straw. Daemon was Netty’s protector. Remember when the windows of Jonquil’s tower exploded? Jonquil Darke was the sworn protector of Queen Alysanne, and was always at her side, the same way Daemon kept Nettles close to him, since Vhagar was not only ferocious, she could also burn stone and castles.
Here’s my post about Jonquil’s Tower and its significance That is not redemption. That is just who he was.
A “redemption” through Nettles would be regression, not growth…
A so-called “redemption” arc through an affair with Nettles would mean:
-Sleeping with a 17-year-old girl in a massive power imbalance
-Cheating on his wife and humiliating her
-Disobeying his wife and further shaming her
-Abandoning his children—including the ones he had with Laena.
Where is the redemption in that?
That’s literally everything Daemon did in his youth. The things he stopped doing when he married Laena, at first, and then Rhaenyra, when he had the life he wanted. When he became a FATHER.
Even worse, repeating the way he treated Rhea Royce with Rhaenyra—the woman who had chosen him, trusted him, and given him power—would be the ultimate humiliation. He didn’t care for Rhea. Rhaenyra loved her husband.
Redemption through a woman? Please.
Jaime Lannister, for instance, wanted to be better. His relationship with Cersei was already crumbling when he lost his hand. Daemon and Rhaenyra, by contrast, chose each other IN MATRIMONY. They lived together peacefully for nine years with their children. Even during the war, their relationship never showed signs of drastic breakdown (as in a total fallout). Daemon wasn’t just a knight. He was the Prince Consort. The Protector of the Realm. And that makes all the difference. And… Jaime has parallels with Criston Cole in many more ways…
So no, Nettles isn’t about a “redemption arc” for Daemon.
Nettles is about dragonlore—about what it truly means to have a dragon and what power, if any, that grants in a world not built for them after they perished. She had a dragon, yet after the war, she had no power. And she was alone, in the mountains, receiving gifts from Moutains Clans. The last image that we have of her is that she is “RAGGED”. Sheepstealer likely died at some point, and we don’t know what became of her. A dragonrider whose existence was lost in time, despite how she even came to claim one, in a manner never seen before. A dragonrider alone in the world. Remember: Nettles claimed Sheepstealer precisely because she saw the reflection of her own loneliness in the dragon. It’s actually very sad
What does it mean to be a dragonrider if the world has no place for dragons? And how did she even figure out this genius method to claim one?
There are thousands of questions surrounding Nettles, and I think we should keep them in mind for when the last books (please let me hope) are released. Nettles and Daenerys share some fascinating parallels, particularly in their relationships with dragons.
The true white side of Daemon is his children. Literally. The children he had with women he had actually chosen, and even risked his position (and then some) to marry them. Read my other post about his sacrifice through his death. He believed that taking down Aemond would be enough to secure his family’s safety, as he was unaware of the loss of the Velaryons and the Betrayers.
Conclusion: Daemon isn’t Jaime Lannister. If anything, Jaime/Cersei mirrors Rhaenyra/Criston (except Jaime is ACTUALLY going to redeem himself. Criston was a menace right until the end.)
Stop using Daemon as a gotcha against Rhaenyra!!!
One last important thing: the rumours about the affair (whether it was true or not) are NOT paramount to this plotline!
The fandom—both Daemon haters and others’ shooters—has focused on them far too much. Based on everything I’ve written, at best, it was ambiguous, and I think that’s exactly the point. No one is supposed to care.
Whatever did or didn’t happen, it always led to disaster for the Blacks. Because of MISCOMMUNICATION AND MISUNDERSTANDING.
What we do know for certain is that Daemon was confused and appalled. As I said.
The rest? That belongs to your own interpretation:)

Okay
Okay @dicknouget got me thinking about a Borrower’s AU. He didn’t even have any input, I just drew a thing for him (the Jaune on the clothesline) and my brain spiraled from there
For those who don’t know, “The Borrowers” is a storybook about a society of four inch people that live in the walls of Big People’s houses or places of work. They survive by literally “borrowing” things from the Big People that they won’t miss, like tiny chunks of cheese, or thimbles, or sewing needles
There’s a Ghibli movie based on it called “The Secret World of Arriety”
But here’s the basic plot starter that I thought of
Borrower Jaune (and the other Arcs) living in the walls of the Rose-Xiao-Long house. The Arcs have lived there as long as the house has stood, ever since the end of the Great War.
Living in a house of Huntsmen, and hearing the stories of heroes through the walls, obviously Jaune wants to be one. But he’s just a Borrower so how can he possibly? And obviously his parents don’t want him to, because holy crap he’ll DEFINITELY get killed
We’re Borrowers, Jaune. We hide, we run, that’s how we stay safe. We can’t fight. We stay out of sight. It’s safer this way
But he still wants to be a hero
So when he overhears that Ruby is going to Beacon early, Jaune panics. Yang has already left home, but he thought he had two more years to make up his mind. He can’t travel to Beacon by himself, he’s four inches tall, but he thought he’d have more time to figure something out. Evidently not
So he takes his great-great-grandfather’s needle and the bark-back shield from above the hearth and literally stows away in Ruby’s bag, with barely a note left as a goodbye to his parents
He’s gonna to become a hero. He’s gonna make his family proud
My god I have Many Thoughts about this, particularly how it changes Beacon and whatnot

free helaena from those fanfic writers. wdym her son was murdered and her husband is bedridden because of that man and now even her dragon dreaming which is the only thing those writers had allowed her to have will also be connected to that man? this ship only existed in headcanons and shouldve stayed there. im sick of this pandering
every excitement i had before this season is gone. season 1 going full mushroom was bad enough already but now we’ve completely entered fanfic territory. its embarrassing for an hbo show
after season 1 ended and we five helaena stans criticized her lackluster and frankly ableist depiction in the show, the dickriders were soooo adamant to tell us that we just had to wait for season 2, she was gonna go through blood and cheese and she's a dreamer now so that was gonna be an interesting new character arc for her, we were just being too impatient!! etc. etc. now we're here, 2 episodes left in the season, blood and cheese meant fucking nothing to helaena, it doesn't haunt her, it didn't change her, it didn't affect her, she's still the same character in season 2 episode 6 as she was when we first met her in season 1 episode 6. she spoke 10 lines this season, her screentime is still minimal, her bond with her dragon is completely erased, she's not going through any development, she has no reaction to anything that's happening to herself nor her family. she is an add-on to alicent's guilt complex instead of being her own person with her own emotions and opinions on this war. her dreamer powers aren't about her, aren't about self-realization or actualization, it's about aemond using her as a crystal ball to go to harrenhal in two episodes time like the plot device the writers have made her out to be. like fuck this show and fuck all the low iq morons that defend it.
#helaena#just thinking about how shes been treated in this show pisses me off so much#anti hotd#hotd critical#hotd#anti helaemond#i guess but not really#anonymous#answered
