Charles Addams and his first wife, Barbara Jean Day
H. Kevin Miserocchi, Executive Director, Tee and Charles Addams Foundation: "Charlie created the character who became known as Morticia in 1933, many years before he married Barbara or either of his two other wives, all of whom had that look. The photograph of Charlie drawing Morticia as Barbara “poses” was nothing more than a set-up shot. Barbara told me that she hated all that referencing of her and Morticia and, after her divorce from Charlie, she cut her hair into a page-boy and wore it that way the rest of her life."

Been working on this Morticia Addams portrait for a few days and finally finished it! I’m very proud of myself for completing such a lovely artwork, especially one of her!

One thing I wonder about is where they got the idea to add “sirens” in “Wednesday”.
Not that they did them badly but... All the other main categories of creatures fit into Chas Addams works: he drew lots of vampires, he had several werewolves (in fact one seems to be part of the Addams family, or close to it) ; and one of his most famous drawings was a gorgon going to a hairdresser.
... But did he ever drew sirens? I do recall he drew satyrs (or maybe it was someone else), but I don’t recall any mermaid in his works...
After that I know it might be just them going for their own original ideas - after all the faceless kids were entirely new and I loved the concept (I was sad we didn’t see more of them). But I would have loved it if they actually paid some homage to the rest of Charles drawings...

Romance? Yes; Marriage? No--Actress Joan Fontaine poses with cartoonist Charles Addams, who she says "is my only boyfriend right now," in a Hollywood studio where she's been making an Alfred Hitchcock Hour show, She says theirs is such a wonderful friendship that it would be a shame to spoil it with marriage.
