For everyone's information, Bruce Wayne winding up alone, unmarried and without children in his old age is not the standard of how superheroes wind up nor was it his fate. It is the result of his own actions. It's also the cautionary tale of what happens when you're isolated.
Bruce Wayne was meant to the minority and initially, the standard was that heroes could marry and have families that were happy. Also, it is not a good message to send to kids that being heroic and selfless causes you to wind up alone.
Hence the line in the song "Hero" by Charlotte Perrelli "Heroes can live on their own, but heroes NEVER die alone." I'm not saying all heroes have to have a nuclear family, but a family is good and realistic than all of them winding up alone and depressed.

Jan Johansen's Eurovision story started with him losing track of an appointment and arriving at a studio to record a demo four and a half hours early. In the same studio songwriting legends Bobby Ljunggren and Håkan Almqvist were working on a Melodifestivalen entry for Christer Björkman, and asked a clueless Jan if he could help them with some singing. That song was to become Jan's breakthrough, a megahit and placing third in the Eurovision. On site in Dublin he still hadn't grasped his own status and went around and collected autographs from the other artists, and at one time during the week he ended up at the home of the mother of one of his idols. Since 1995, Jan has competed with several more songs in Melodifestivalen, among those the second-placed duet "Let Your Spirit Fly" which Jan later, unbeknownst to and unauthorized from songwriters Anders Dannvik and Ola Höglund, recorded together with Maltese Eurovision legend Chiara. Of course we get to listen to this version as well as several other demo-songs from Jan, and we also speak about various collaborations with artists such as Shirley Clamp, Pandora, Pernilla Wahlgren and Charlotte Perrelli.

did a little more playlisting today bc much like a speeding freight train, my eurovision hyperfixation cannot stop on a dime and usually rolls along for several days before calming down
and man
I come to you in despair because I learned today that 'sweden learned that inoffensive pop ballads in english do well so that's mostly what they send' holds true even at the national qualifier level. I did a listen through of all the english-titled songs from the two most recent Melodifestivalen and it's. it's all so bland. I tried so hard not to be a hater but I failed. There were like two that were kind of 'hmm that's nice' but better suited for a 'giving up on everything/everyone is bad and you shouldn't' playlist than for a pre-Grand Final playlist showcasing the heights of the host country's musical range.
Also, while thankfully there are still some Melodifestivalen entries in Swedish, Sweden won in 1999 with a soft-rock number in English* and then just. Never sent a Swedish-language song to ESC again. For twenty-four godforsaken years.
*Charlotte Perrelli's "Take Me to Your Heaven", which to its credit is a bop with a similar upbeat spirit to "La Det Swinge", the entry by Bobbysocks that won Norway its first Eurovision victory in 1985.

Thanks tagging me @blairsanne!
Well, one of these certainly have an unfair advantage of the season 🎃
No pressure tags: @ally-holmes @raiphend @lilyletham @azuhra @bardicious
Okay, so I've been tagged by a few people including @dabs-into-oblivion and @mxkelsifer Rules: put your music library on shuffle, then list the first five songs that come up in a poll to let people vote for their favorite!
I don't have a music library and I don't recognize most of my likes, so I grabbed the first song I recognized off my 2nd and 3rd most played playlists and then three from the most played (the playlist I made for The Moments Between)
I'm pretty sure everyone I know's already been tagged but.... @uchidachi, @howlingwolf23, @ferindencadash, @spacevixen2024, @peardita, @mcgeeki,

Yeah!
I talked about this in another reblog, but:
I get it, something else should win other than Sweden. I want that to happen too! And I get it, the juries have been weirdly biased towards Sweden lately. (But as I’ve repeated over and over again, I think it would be funny af if she does manage to win again).
But saying this is a 100% guaranteed victory because it’s Loreen i hard for me to believe. Especially if this year has as many great and strong songs like everyone claims (like Finland, or so I’ve heard).
Loreen in 2017 was actually predicted to win or place high in the final. Juries and music critics LOVED her song. She lost to a total newcomer. So clearly, the televoters/heartvoters either didn’t like the song much and/or they liked the newcomer much more than her. Her being an iconic ESC winner didn’t help at all.
Also, it isn’t just Loreen that Sweden has rejected when they participated again after winning ESC. Sweden completely rejected Charlotte Perrelli when she participated THREE MORE TIMES after her second win in Melfest 2008 (where she had landed on a 18th place in ESC). She failed to win all those three times (and even failed to qualify for the final 2 out of those 3 times). Note that Charlotte Perrelli is pretty dang popular outside of Melfest/ESC in Sweden, too.
And let’s not forget what happened to Rybak in 2018. He was a returning ESC winner who is pretty well known as an iconic one. But he didn’t win.
And after reading into things further myself, returning ESC winners, while not super common, have not been unheard of. But out of all of them, Johnny Logan is the only ESC winner who has managed to win twice. 36 years ago.
Also! Loreen’s song is inevitably going to be compared to Euphoria. That is one HELL of a song to live up to. And it may not do so in the eyes(ears?) of the televoters, and they may not vote for her as a result.
What bothers me a lot is the fact that Loreen knew very well that nobody would stand a chance if she participates (due to her status in the history of Eurovision), that their chances would be instantly killed and that nobody would get to experience what she already has & still went for it. Why? Only to experience it all again herself.
Give new artists their space, the space you too were once given. Thank you for killing Eurovision 2023.
