The Other Side of Our Peaceful Lives
Obtainability: Limited to purchase through the Agent Magica Event Shop.
MLB Effect: Blast Damage Up [30%] & Charged Attack Damage Up [10%] & Accele MP Gain Up [15%]
Effect Definitions:
Blast Damage Up is a straightforward buff that means Blast Discs will deal more damage. Blast Damage Up has a capped percentage at 100%.
Charged Attack Damage Up will cause the target to cause more damage from their Accele or Blast discs if used after a charge disc. You’ll want to use this memoria on the character who is using the charged attack, not the character(s) setting up the charge discs.
Accele MP Gain Up will increase the amount of MP gained by using Accele discs.
TLDR: It's bad.
Review: I could go into endless detail on why this memoria isn't great, but you could also just read the review on a memoria that is this one's exact copy:
(Limited 4*) “The Eve of Awakening” Blast Damage Up [30%] & Accele MP Gain Up [15%] & Charged Attack Damage Up [10%]
Basically none of the effects really synergize all that well (besides maybe charged attack damage up and blast damage up) and the percentage offered by each is poor. You could use this memoria if you're missing good memos to equip but that shouldn't be too necessary unless you're super new to the game or someone took hold of your account and deleted everything, in which case you have bigger problems than memoria selection.
Use this as Enhancement Fodder or something. You can do better.

Kingdom Hearts 3 - Rage Form
#kingdom hearts 3#kh3#sora#rage form#arendelle#formchange#my gif#rage form is so intriguing#sora still behaves in a wild animalistic fashion similar to his anti form but it's different#anti form felt as if he relinquished all self control and acted strictly on instinct just like a heartless#he used to run around hunched over on all fours and fight tooth and claw with reckless abandon#but here you can at least see SOME semblance of who he is. he's able to wield his keyblade while in this form which is pretty major#he still fights in an absolutely chaotic and primal manner but it feels evolved#the big difference is you call upon rage form at will. he channels his rage and darkness in a desperate last resort to stay alive#which is very significant but he still loses some control like the ability to use of magic; items; shotlocks; etc#it's cool to see darkness used in this way but i really want sora to able to explore themes of darkness within himself in future games#i want these to be more than cool forms with fun gameplay. i want them to have implications that something dark is brewing and needs to be-#brought to the surface and tackled head on because we've never seen anyone capable of cloaking themselves in darkness in such a way#take riku's dark form for example. he's in control and he's very much still himself. it's entirely different#on another note i'm now thinking about how hp is fully restored when activating rage form but you have the choice to give it up again-#when using risk charge. it'll increase attack damage but you're still walking a dangerous line in the pursuit of power

spoiler free PSA for the combat side of veilguard: I think the game severely undercommunicates the importance of the 'attack my target' mechanic (i.e. directing the companions to attack specific targets when you bring up the ability wheel)! this not only focuses their damage output, it actually sets up a bunch of gameplay effects and synergies and makes the companions a lot more effective. so if you're struggling or trying to get the most out of the team, that's a good place to start! the different 'attack my target' effects (which upgrade as the game go on and you expand with the caretaker) can be read on the companions' equipment, so you can find something that best fits your playstyle :) I only learned about this in some random youtube video but it's been serving me well, so I now relay this knowledge to anyone who might appreciate it
(also there are skills around the skill tree that can change or improve how basic attacks and attack chains/combos work! you might find that makes for a more fluid gamplay experience)
#dragon age#dragon age: the veilguard#idk how relevant it is outside of the build I'm doing but also: don't sleep on stagger! you can sacrifice some damage effectiveness#b/c stagger works basically as backup crowd control the way I have it set up#I'm doing some lightning shit and dealing the stagger damage of the gods right now and I feel so OP lol#the upgrade that makes your orb 'n dagger do a little boomerang out at the end of an attack chain my BELOVED#it'll detonate two charges of arcane bomb at the same time and it's *devastating* damage#there's A Lot of depth in this system in ways you might not realize at first. frankly. this rocks.

Was soooooo happy with this phase 1 which is what made it so much funnier that I was immediately clapped by his phase 2 😂
#romina is still my fave boss but messmer is a solid second#almost every other boss I would describe as “would’ve been good if their damage wasn’t so overtuned”#my stance if that if I’m consistently losing to a boss with 10/14 flasks left the damage is overtuned#vs me losing to sword saint isshin with no gourds or pellets left bc he was tough enough to whittle me down#fromsoft bros will say get good but think high numbers is big difficulty#an actually difficult boss doesn’t need big damage output if the mechanics are the challenge#I don’t actually mind how relentless the bosses are in ER but I mind how HARD they hit on top of that#dodging a 12 hit uninterruptible combo where each move does like 1/10th of your health? that’s fine.#if I properly time 3 of those dodges I can still make it and it’s honestly my bad if I’m getting killed by that#dodging a 12 hit uninterruptible combo where each hit takes out 1/2 of ur health bar & has a 50% chance for an additional retaliation combo?#I *can* do it but Jesus Christ what a waste of my time lmao#how am I supposed to learn a boss when I can’t get into a flow state bc a single mistake can end a run smh#I just beat gaius and I didn’t even feel accomplished I was just like ugh finally#I feel like 95% of his moves are fine once you work out the delays and positioning#but I kept getting clipped by his charge attack like I would dodge out of the way but once the i frames were finished I’d still get hit#bc I guess I wasn’t dodging a perfect 90 degrees to him and the hitbox for that attack is long as hell#which would be whatever if that move didn’t take out like 2/3 of my health and come out nigh instantly#I don’t even really know the tell for the move bc I beat him before I learned it bc I lucked out on a run where he didn’t charge me a lot#luckily the game is absolute DELIGHT to look at and explore that I can forgive the absolute bullshittery of the bosses#like I just got to the summit of dragon peak and I’m blown away by the design of that mountain#if we’re talking verisimilitude in games how about that whole shebang#no obvious well worn path up to the top of the mountain bc it’s just for dragons who’s gonna be walking up there?#having the player follow a trail of increasingly dense dragon corpses is SUCH a great tone setter#which means I’m probably going to hate bayle but whatever I’m already invested let’s gooooo#tsuchi plays games

It took me until now to realize that Aak buffing Ebenholz is actually way less efficient and impactful than just using Warfarin. I feel like it should have been obvious but in my defense I was high on the satisfaction of assembling a proper Buff Squad
#arknights#arknights ebenholz#you want Ebenholz to one-shot so the increased attack speed does nothing for him other than helping him build up charges#which in most situations you should already have fully built#it's very unlikely you'll ever find yourself in a situation where the increased speed makes a difference#and since Warfarin already has a higher damage multiplier not only is she easier to use she's straight up better#you could use both but that would be VERY cumbersome to set up and probably unnecessary... that said I am definitely gonna try using both#definitely unnecessary in 90% of situations but the numbers would be fun

so apparently you can interrupt artorias's power-up charging...
#this is such a game changer#he can no longer one-shot me with his weakest attacks after two charge ups!#i love this fight even more now#before i just assumed that his power-ups were time based or smth so you just had to grow courage to kill him more quickly#or that the fight was simply demanding you to learn how to dodge every attack#which is perfectly doable because he's telegraphed really well#and fighting him like that was actually fun!#it's just that well#ng+ is ng+ and boy do bosses deal crazy damage here xD#dark souls

You're more amazing than catchphrases
90% of all Yugioh card effects are either "move a card from one zone to another" or "negate an effect" so I made a bunch of combat keywords so that monsters can actually be interesting on the field.
#asks#custom cards#also i managed to make them all different subtypes and get exactly 2 of each attribute so that's cool#anyway i'm barely even exaggerating about the 90% thing#“add a card from deck to hand” “special summon a monster” “destroy a card”#so much stuff is just moving cards between zones#and a lot of the rest is just “negate a card/effect” “effects can't target this” “can't be destroyed by effects”#just moving cards around or preventing cards from being moved around#how about actually caring about the battle phase?#yugioh's combat mechanics are really different than magic's so directly translating stuff like menace or haste doesn't work#but the difference also means there's so much opportunity for different abilities like Tricky or Stealthy or Guardian!#some translate fairly well like Vigilance into Resilient and Double Strike into Double Attack#and some are practically 1-to-1 like Deathtouch to Venomous and Trample to Piercing#Assist was an awkward one#the concept is so clear and simple and cool: it lets your monsters team up to attack together!#but mtg's Banding shows how that simple concept can be very difficult to translate into clean rules#even its spiritual successor Enlist had to specify “nonattacking creature without summoning sickness”#which i think is one of the only times that the term “summoning sickness” has appeared on modern cards#yeah i just checked and the only other cards that mention summoning sickness are stuff that involve creature-lands#i went back and forth on how exactly to word it before i decided to go the shortest and cleanest route of “spend this monster's attack”#which is also the most confusing wording if anything remotely unusual happens#heck it's not even clear whether it works while in defense position!#the idea is the same as Enlist: you can only use it if the monster COULD attack#so anything that prevents it from attacking also prevents it from assisting#but honestly if i were in charge i wouldn't even print this keyword because its wording is either too long or too confusing#also the Wrath effect appears on a few existing cards like Flame Wingman and i like it#Piercing also already exists in a kind of pseudo-keyword state#“if this monster attacks a defense position monster inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent”

I guess that this wraps things up gameplay-wise for now! I'm farming hard artifacts for Neuvi as there was a better option for him that I was unaware of until recently, but at least one of the sets is available in the crafting thingy, so there is that! Tomorrow I'll review the screens I made during my experience and write a post about the things I want to mention more in depth, as I would like to catch up with a bit of writing after so long.
#please ignore the spiral abyss thingy#I'm just lazy lol#I can do up to floor 11 included perfectly fine#it's the 12th that gives me some headache more often than not#but I'm considering to try it out again#as I have Neuvi too#I remember lacking in strength with one of the teams#typically the one where Al-Haitham isn't present#so this might be some game-changer#we'll see#I need to build him more crit rate#and ideally at least keep the current crit dmg he has#then we'll be dandy with the massive damage he deals#with his charged attack

Why would I draw or further flesh out the other members of Chou's party when I can instead think abt how all of them play in game and spiral out into making up a shit ton of other game mechanics that do not matter to the actual story
#rat rambles#stars posting#this is my new favorite playground I need large stick lady to cast spell of hit you really hard#well ok shes more of a defensive unit in my minds eye but she will also hit things with her big stick#I do imagine her as the type of character that Can do some mad dps but shed be an extremely selfish dps unit which doesnt work well with#the rest of the party since most of them are quite frail#her damage scales off of her shields which scale off of her hp which means that to do her max damage shed need to not be hit oftem#which goes against most of the rest of her kit as shes mostly about taunting enemies and intercepting attacks with some parry abilities#so generally shes a unit that wants to get hit but can also do good damage if you need to take a more aggressive route with a fight#the other girl is the local multihit gambler queen who is also the speedy speedster of the party#shes a much more selfish unit with basically only attacking abilities#she can do pretty good damage if youre willing to get her buffs set up but she rly starts to shine once she gets access to equipment that#lets her hit more times and abilities that can raise her own stats or lower enemy stats#chou is more of a commander type character here if that makes sense? theyre mostly about buffing allies and turn juggling#they have like 3 abilities that allow them to give away their turn each buffing different stats#later on they ofc shift their playstyle completely but for most of the initial journey that was their role and playstyle#aaand Im still working out the other two because Im not sure if I want the party to have a proper healer or not#because on the one hand chou and the girl™ are both rather frail to start off with so they'd appreciate a healer but on the other hand they#already have big stick girl and I feel like giving them a healer would make this hypothetical game too easy#so Im thinking maybe a more stable dps unit like odile is? one who has access to all craft types early on and can consistently do damage#and for the kid Im imagining them as having a similar role to bonnie but a bit more reliable but also less impactful#as in you can actually tell them what to do but they take a while to charge their action after you tell them what to do and they have less#that they can do with them mostly managing excess items#oh important context Im imagining a item pouch system here where party members each have to carry their own items into battle and can only#carry a couple at a time so you have to fill your item slots wisely and be careful how you use your items in battle#and theres also a bunch of other miscellaneous mechanics I imagine being around too but its mostly typical rpg stuff#look its my au I can make a fake video game of it in my head if I want to#anyways I time to crash gn gamers

Brief Peace of Mind
Obtainability: Limited to the “Battle Shamanesses of Kamihama” event gacha. This is event bonus memoria and should be kept in case of a rerun.
Single Effect: Charged Attack Damage Up [15%] & Blast Damage Up [35%] & Flame Attribute Attack Up [17.5%] (Self / 3 Turns)
MLB Effect: Charged Attack Damage Up [17.5%] & Blast Damage Up [40%] & Flame Attribute Attack Up [20%] (Self / 3 Turns)
Effect Definitions:
Charged Attack Damage Up will cause the target to cause more damage from their Accele or Blast discs if used after a charge disc. You’ll want to use this memoria on the character who is using the charged attack, not the character(s) setting up the charge discs.
Blast Damage Up is a straightforward buff that means Blast Discs will deal more damage. Blast Damage Up has a capped percentage at 100%.
Flame Attribute Attack Up will increase a unit’s base attack stats when they use a Flame-attribute attack. It functions similarly to Attack Up and even stacks with it, but it won’t contribute to Attack Up’s Percentage Ceiling.
TLDR: “Brief Peace of Mind” is a specialized memoria for a specific Kimochi battle. Average players shouldn’t feel too compelled to acquire it, but Hyper-Whales are going to want it in order to get as much damage out as possible in the Moving Aquamarine Heel Kimochi.
Review: This review is a little late for the Moving Aquamarine Heel Kimochi, but maybe you can take it into consideration for whenever it’s next run.
“Brief Peace of Mind” is tailor-made for specific Kimochi battles. The Moving Aquamarine Heel in particular prioritizes Charged Blast attacks, and given that it’s a Forest enemy, you also obviously want to use Flame damage dealers against it. Equipping this memoria on a unit like Doppel Kyoko or Chizuru means dealing a stupidly high amount of damage for those three turns. Yes. THREE TURNS.
However, before going into why this memoria is such Whale bait, let’s first look at what it will offer players who don’t give a shit about doing well in Kimochi. Is it still good? Is it a must-have?
Nah.
There are many better active memoria that will give you more of a damage bonus than this if you are just looking for a memoria in casual play. What you don’t see on “Brief Peace of Mind” are more generic buffs like Attack Up, Damage Up, or Damage Increase. This is because the Kimochi battle assumes you will be near-capped on all three. Because you’re capped on those three effects, you need to look to outside sources for possible increased damage, which is where this memoria comes into play.
But this isn’t going to be an issue outside of the highly specialized Kimochi fight. Even unlimited memoria can be better to equip than this one. So if you don’t care about Kimochi (or at least, getting in the very top scoring), you shouldn’t feel sad about not having this memoria. You’ll do just as fine if not better using something like “Even if I Take a Wrong Path” or “Mami of the Land of Sweets”.
Now, onto the Kimochi. This memoria assumes perfect play and a Whale team. Even so, you want to take a look at what buffs you’ll be getting. Popular units I saw in play for the Moving Aquamarine Heel Kimochi included Fairytale Mifuyu, First Sunrise Shizuka, Chizuru, and Doppel Kyoko (amongst others). What do you notice among these characters from their Connects to their Magia to their Doppels?
A whole hell of a lot of Flame Attribute Attack Up and a hell of a lot of Blast Damage Up.
Flame Attribute Attack Up won’t cap alongside Attack Up, so it makes sense to stack that. But Blast Damage Up is what can be the problem here. It caps at 100%, and a character can very easily hit that cap just with all the passives they get.
Let’s assume you’re using Chizuru. She already starts off with 66.5% Blast Damage Up from her Spirit Enhancement alone. Her Doppel will give her an additional 60% Blast Damage Up, blowing her past the Blast Damage Up Cap. Clearly if you use “Brief Peace of Mind”, you want to use it either before her Doppel or if you just want that extra Flame Attribute Attack Up + Charged Attack Damage Up. However, that’s just Chizuru-- if you were lucky enough to get First Sunrise Shizuka and Fairytale Mifuyu, both units also give passive Blast Damage Up SE to their allies, minimizing the gap for the Blast Damage Up cap and you.
The benefit of “Brief Peace of Mind” is that it provides so many buffs on one memoria, all at reasonable percentages which turn it into an overall powerhouse. However you should take care that you’re not capped at any of those buffs, otherwise you might actually be better off using something else.
When it comes to Charged Attack Damage Up, this reviewer admittedly has some blind spots. From what I understand, the effect has diminishing returns at a certain point, so it’s not necessary to try and stack it too high. It can’t hurt to have it though.
The very last thing to consider would be the Max-Awakened, Max-Leveled passive DEF stats of this memoria. At 2250 DEF, this qualifies as a Stat Stick. Stat Sticks are Active memoria that beef up a character’s passive DEF through its stats, not its effects. These kind of memoria are helpful in Mirrors, where some Actives serve little more than, well, “stat sticks.” This blog considers anything about 2200 DEF a Stat Stick. Note that the memoria needs to be Max Awakened to qualify as a Stat Stick.
Overall this is a Whale-tier memoria tailor-made for the Charge-Blast Kimochi. You don’t need it unless you’re a whale or a player who REALLY cares about getting as much damage out as possible in a Kimochi battle.
This can be used on Flame-Blaster supports.

I really wanted to ask if you could do like a GN! It can be fem too it doesn’t really matter—
The Reader where like Ultraman can transform bigger too but they're more inspired by Mothra (like a mothra suit). I think it would've been like so cute to see Emi go all awe and clingy to the reader because how bright and heavenly they look💕
Kenji gets all jealous seeing his kajju daughter prefer the reader over him a lil bit. tall parents raising baby monster

Word Count: 1,546
Genre/Warning: Established Relationship, Family Dynamics, Jealousy (very slight)
Author’s Note: Loved this idea so much, thank you for this first request! Emi with a moth mommy ⋆˚ʚɞ
MASTERLIST
Something about your boyfriend changed the night after Gigantron’s “attack” on Tokyo Dome. That night, you were supposed to help him fend the kaiju off but he insisted he’d do it on his own.
For some reason, you were glad you did not join in because (1) their fight became a pursuit in the sky, and (2) you could not zoom in the air the same way Ultraman does. The only reason you’re able to fly is because of your wings—moth wings on your suit, which would put you at a disadvantage in the case of an air chase.
You were supposed to come over to his place that night to check on him because you were sure that the skirmish had caused more damage to his already injured shoulder. However, your calls were left answered by Mina, telling you that Kenji had already fallen asleep.
Deciding not to disturb him, you simply let him be. But in the days that followed, something surely wasn’t right. He couldn’t focus on his games, he looked so fatigued and restless all the time, and oh good gracious, there were now dark circles under his eyes.
He just looks so stressed and you were so upset with the fact that he didn’t want to tell you what’s going on with him. The time he got into a fight with the other players was the end of the line for you.
You barged into his house, finding him by his bathtub, in front of a TV, watching the news about him. The usually peaceful atmosphere in his house was now charged with tension as you made your way towards him. At that moment, Kenji was praying so hard the kaiju in his basement would keep still.
He still wouldn’t tell you what’s wrong. “It’s not about us. It’s about…” he said, “…something bigger. Something I’m not ready to share yet.”
Your eyes softened at his response, though the ache in your chest remained. You made him promise to talk to you when he’s ready and he agreed. You can’t stand seeing the love of your life like that but at the same time, you didn’t want to force him to do anything against his will. Taking up Ultraman was already enough of that.
Almost two months, after the incident, he seemed back to his old shape. Better, even. And thank heavens, finally, he could now tell you about what happened.
“There’s a what below?!” You asked in disbelief. The two of you were standing in front of the elevator and for a moment, you think your ears are playing tricks on you.
“A baby kaiju,” he replied and went on to explain everything. Still in disbelief, you took in everything with a nod. He placed his hand on the small of your back as he guided you into the elevator.
The moment you saw the big pink baby, you gasped. Emi made happy noises as you approached. However, upon noticing you, she suddenly began to cry.
Kenji was tapping on the glass containment in an attempt to shush her. But to no avail, Emi just cried harder.
“I’m sorry, she doesn’t know you yet,” Kenji apologized. “But I assure you, she’s a sweet big baby.”
Remembering how, at first, Emi only recognized Kenji when he was Ultraman, you decided to try something.
“(Y/n), what are you—“ Before Kenji finished, a soft glow enveloped you, and moments later, you emerged in your giant form. Your wings spread wide, shimmering with black patterns and warm tones of yellow and orange.
Emi’s cries slowed, her curiosity piqued by the sudden change. She opened her eyes, sobs turning to soft hiccups as she stared up at you in wonder. Her claws tapped the glass as she reached out, trying to grasp your wings.
Kenji watched in awe as Emi’s distress melted away. “I think it’s working,” he whispered.
“May I?” You asked, gesturing to the lid of the containment unit. Kenji gave a nod of approval. Carefully, you turned it before lifting it off.
You lowered yourself closer to Emi, your wings fluttering softly as she climbed up her containment. The gentle breeze they created seemed to soothe her further.
Emi let out a delighted squeal, her earlier tears forgotten. She toddled closer to you, her claws gently touching the edge of your wing. She let out a happy chirp, eyes sparkling with joy.
Kenji stepped closer, a relieved smile spreading across his face. “Wow, she loves you in this form,” he said.
You smiled down at him. “She’s just like her dad,” you replied. “She knows a good thing when she sees it.”
Kenji chuckled before he himself transformed into Ultraman. He sat beside you with Emi in between the two of you.
Your wings gently enveloped Emi in a comforting embrace. She was now calm and happy as she traced the pattern of your wings with her claw.
“Gentle, baby,” Kenji said as he rubbed her head.
She continued walking around you and playing with your wings until she tired herself out. She walked in front of you and climbed on your lap, nestling her head on your stomach.
“Awww, baby,” you cooed. You gently picked her up into your arms and gently swayed.
Kenji moved close to you, wrapping an arm around you. You nestled into his arm, head resting on the junction of his neck and shoulders. The three of you slept like that for the night.
The next morning when Emi awoke, she immediately looked for you. Realizing that the moth lady was missing, she cried. Mina was quick to assist her, playing videos of cartoons and Kenji to calm her. To Mina’s surprise, none of them worked.
“Who’s making my baby cry?” Kenji asked as he approached. He expected her crying to cease once she saw him. However, that is not the case.
“Huh?” He questioned. Emi always calms when she sees him. “Mina, try showing her pictures of (y/n).”
Mina did as told and as miraculously as yesterday, Emi stopped crying. “It seems like she got herself a new mother,” Mina commented.
With Emi’s growing fondness of you, you found yourself frequenting at Kenji’s house more than ever. She was just so cute; like a live plushie when you’re in your giant form.
“Hi babyyyy,” you cooed as you transformed into your giant form. You scooped her up, her head nuzzling against you. Her earlier play was abandoned in favor of your presence.
You walked in on Kenji and Emi playing baseball together. And you didn’t mean to interrupt but when you saw her walking towards you, you knew you had to transform.
Kenji smiled at the scene. “She really loves you, you know,” he said.
You smiled back, feeling a warm glow inside. “I love her too,” you replied. “She’s such a sweetheart.”
Emi chirped happily as she climbed up your torso and onto your shoulder where she could watch and touch your wings.
Kenji watched the interaction, his smile fading slightly as a twinge of jealousy crept in. His baby kaiju shows a different kind of joy when you’re around.
He loved Emi dearly, but lately, it seemed like she preferred your company over his. He couldn’t help but feel a bit sidelined.
“She really lights up when you’re here,” Kenji said, trying to keep his tone light.
You glanced at him, noticing the slight edge in his voice. “She lights up when you’re here too, Kenji,” you replied. “She loves you.”
He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I know, but… it feels like she’s more excited to see you than me sometimes.”
You tapped the space on the floor beside you, gesturing for him to switch to Ultraman. Thankfully, he did not resist.
You moved close to him as he sat beside you, his hand finding its way to your thigh. Your head automatically rested on his shoulder.
“You’re her dad, Kenji,” you said. “She loves you so much. Maybe she’s just fascinated by my wings right now.”
You felt Kenji nod, although the jealousy still lingered within him. “Yeah, maybe,” he replied. “I just want to be enough for her.”
You leaned back to look at him. Your other hand which was not holding Emi on your shoulder, moved up to hold his face. “You are enough. You’re everything to her,” you said. “And to me.”
Emi squirmed out of your hand, gently jumping off your shoulder and landing on your lap. She toddled over to Kenji. He looked down at her, his heart melting as she reached up, wanting to be held. He picked her up, and she nuzzled against his chest, purring softly.
“See?” You asked with a smile. “She adores you.”
Kenji hugged Emi close, his jealousy fading into thin air. “Yeah,” he said. “I guess you’re right.”
You spent the rest of the day playing with Emi, taking turns holding her and making her laugh. By the time evening rolled around, she was content and sleepy in Kenji’s arms.
Before reverting to your original form, you kissed Emi’s head and then leaned in to kiss Kenji. “I’ll be back soon,” you said. “Take care of our little one.”
Kenji smiled, his earlier worries forgotten. “We’ll be here, waiting.”

Hot take
Night furies are actually perfectly evolved for hunting and killing other dragons and the only reason they aren't a dragon-hunting species like the death song or deathgrippers are is because DreamWorks couldn't have their adorable main character dragon be a "cannibal"
(below I'm gonna try to summarize what we've figured out in a convo with friends on discord)
(also tw animal death via predator)
First of all yes I'm aware that pretty much every decision made about their design was with consideration of the effect it would make on human audiences but hear me out
Night furies are most iconically known as dive-bombers. They are built for speed, high maneuverability, night-time camouflage and for striking targets from above. If we remove human settlements out of the equation (which would not have existed long enough to actually influence night fury evolution, come on), what does that leave us with?
They aren't built for catching fish for sure, they aren't very hydrodynamic and their head is round, wide, and their teeth are dull. Honestly, the monstrous nightmare is much better suited for catching fish, with its long neck, almost pelican-like jaw and rhamphorhynchus teeth

Yeah the jaws look kinda like a porpoise of some sort but for that the whole body would have to be a lot more aquatic imo. The light fury looks a lot closer to an aquatic diver, it has a sleeker body, rounded fins instead of spikes, and a long neck.
I don't really see them hunting land animals either, they just don't look like they're adapted for that minus the resemblance with large felines and even then, they're too large to effectively hunt in forests.
The one thing I can kinda imagine them hunting is large mainland megafauna, but we're working with a setting that takes place pretty much exclusively on islands. And overall, dragons are the only abundant species there with the exception of fish and human-bred sheep and chickens.
In general, night furies have duller teeth, smaller claws and are smaller than most dragons. Disregarding the movies making Toothless weirdly OP, a night fury would be disadvantaged against most dragons in a 1v1 fight and besides, it has four huge weak spots that would highly discourage it from a direct physical fight - the primary and secondary tail fins. One unlucky rip in the membrane and the night fury is fucked.
The night fury however noticeably resembles falcons, given their dive-bombing ability and high maneuverability.
Falcons too have smaller beaks and weaker claws compared to most birds of prey, and for that they compensate by simply picking up speed, balling up their talons and Punching. Really. Hard.
And they use that ability to kill other birds, even much larger ones, by knocking them right from the sky.
Here, the night fury's plasma blast works the same way as a falcon's punch. Dragons are fire-resistant, so what the plasma blast does is really just a densely packed bolt of energy that has the effect of either stunning or outright killing prey by damaging its spine. And what the plasma bolt doesn't do, rapid contact with the ground would finish. And if even that doesn't do it, the night fury's wide jaws and dull teeth are just fine for simply clamping around the unlucky dragon's neck and strangling it, like a lion or a pitbull.
The night-time camouflage allows the night fury to soar for extended periods of time perfectly unnoticed in the night sky, and by the time it strikes, the dragon wouldn't even know what's coming.
Unless
Say the hunting night fury is aware of other dragons sleeping under the trees, as most dragons probably would at night (village raids aside, most dragons seem to be diurnal), so how does the night fury get them in position where it can use its signature attack? Well, there's That Iconic Screech Of Death. Since in the movies it tends to appear not just during dive-bombings but also when charging up a blast, I imagine it's something the night fury is able to control to some degree. So by simply fake-diving in close proximity to sleeping dragons, it can effectively terrify them into leaving their hideout and fly out into the open where it can easily take them out.
I dunno, the possibility of night furies as predators to other dragons just makes so much sense to me, I really don't know what other reasons there would be for them to evolve these particular adaptations.
And one more little headcanon to add to this whole rant - since night furies are significantly smaller and less equipped for dragon vs dragon fights and are primarily speed-based predators, I imagine there is this very likely scenario:
There is one dragon who resembles a hyena, a lil bit
Ok, rant over
#httyd#how to train your dragon#night fury#spec bio#spec evo#as for why Toothless isn't hunting other dragons and lives in the hive with all the rest#this is a pretty funny possibility to think about but perhaps in the past -1000-ish years humans have simply become#such a massive nuisance to the dragons that some of their species abandoned their natural behavior in exchange for kicking humans asses#yes i know the movies were all about ''dragons are actually perfectly fine and innocent and it was just the Red Death''#but also human effect on the environment and encroaching on natural dragon hunting grounds and fucking up the ecosystem#anyway there

Why hide the gold in the tags???
I just remembered that Crane has a psychology degree, too, so Jazz will be loving that. Batman will not.
(DCxDP) The obligations of a rogue versus those of a parent
—
Tw: vivisection mention (not in detail), bad Fenton parents
Will be crossposted to AO3 eventually
—
It was a dark, cold, miserable night, and Scarecrow, Jonathan Crane, wanted nothing more than to be home, covered in blankets with the heater set to max as he worked on his most recent strain of fear toxin.
Instead he was at the docks, standing in as backup for the Penguin as he made a deal with some sleaze-bag smugglers. Something about some sort of body armor for his hired help. Crane hadn’t really paid much attention to the Penguin’s words, only caring enough to show up because of the reward.
But honestly, he couldn’t care less about the money at this point.
He was cold, and miserable, and his leg hurt something fierce (he’d had chronic pains ever since being mauled by Killer Croc some time ago), and he was so, so close to a breakthrough with his new toxin, and he really couldn’t stand the Penguin anyways. The only thing keeping him there was his reputation as a rogue.
Just as Crane was deciding that the whole ordeal wasn’t worth it, he heard the sound of a chase a few blocks down. With a deep, heavy sigh, he moved from the wall he had been leaning against, looming in the alleyway as he waited for the potential threat to reveal itself.
A few moments later, a boy came careening into the alleyway, sliding to a stop when he noticed the Scarecrow, his eyes growing impossibly wide. Beneath the mask, Jonathan grinned.
The boy swore, loudly, glancing between Scarecrow and the exit of the alleyway. As the echoing sound of footsteps grew closer, he chose to face the way he came, turning his back to Scarecrow.
What an idiotic way to get killed. Either the boy was a complete and utter fool, or there was something out there worse (to him, at least) than the Scarecrow.
Jonathan Crane tilted his head slowly, considering. He could just cut his losses and leave, Penguin be damned, or he could stay and see what had the boy so spooked.
Eventually, unfortunately enough, his curiosity won out. He shifted, bringing a hand to his side where he kept several canisters of fear toxin.
Crane had to bite back a groan when the boy’s pursuers entered the alleyway.
It was those damned idiots in white suits.
They had been tailing him for weeks now. They were easy enough to fight, but they were annoyingly persistent, and always seemed to have a way to find him. (Not to mention, the Riddler had strong opinions on their outfits, and if he had to hear the white-suit-in-Gotham rant one more time he was going to throttle him.)
Led by the men in white was a woman in a teal hazmat suit. Jonathan had seen her around, too, though less frequently than the others. He had honestly assumed that she was just a new C-tier rogue and avoided her like the plague.
Her eyes went wide as saucers when she saw Jonathan standing a few feet from the boy. No one moved a muscle.
“Danny,” the woman spoke softly. The boy, Danny, flinched, glancing between her and Scarecrow, “come on, we can talk about this. Your father and I only want to help you.”
He was running from his mother?
Scarecrow paused after that revelation, choosing to fully take in the boy’s appearance.
He was lean, almost gaunt, and wearing clothes several sizes too big for him, probably stolen. His entire body shook, from fear and cold both, and he clutched his stomach with one hand. At first, Scarecrow assumed that it was due to being out of breath, but as he looked closer he could see blood staining the dark fabric of the boy’s shirt.
He was injured, underweight, and running from his parents.
Something that felt a lot like rage swelled in Jonathan’s heart.
“Danny, you don’t get it! We’re so close now. We can fix you, and then we can go home, and everything can go back to normal,” she said, smiling in a way that was clearly supposed to be reassuring. She took a few steps forward, the men behind her clearly readying their weapons.
The boy backed away from his mother, inadvertently coming closer to Scarecrow.
He glanced up at Crane again, his blue eyes shining in fear, but not of him.
Sickening. Sickening.
In one fluid motion, Jonathan grabbed the boy by the wrist, pulling him behind him, and threw a large canister of fear gas into the group who had been chasing him.
The liquid in the container turned to gas as soon as it broke open, billowing out and filling half of the alleyway with a thick yellow smog.
The boy gasped, pulling his shirt over his face in a pathetic attempt to filter out the toxin. It would have to do, though, Scarecrow thought, rushing forward to force the boy’s aggressors to breathe in the gas.
The fight that the men put up was pitiful. The few individuals who didn’t breathe in the toxin immediately were clearly unused to fighting hand-to-hand, and dropped like flies in Scarecrow’s wake.
Just as the men began to spasm and shout in their terror, as if on cue, the familiar wail of police sirens reached the Scarecrow’s ears.
He heaved a heavy, irritated sigh, fingers twitching for a cigarette. He was trying to quit as of late, but he felt that after today, he might deserve one.
Though now was not the time to be thinking of cigarettes.
Jonathan approached the boy, mindful of any signs he might run off.
The boy didn’t seem to notice his approach in the slightest, just staring at the woman in the jumpsuit as she writhed on the ground.
Right. That would most likely be traumatic for a child to see, wouldn’t it?
Scarecrow moved in front of the boy, blocking his line of sight. The boy looked up at him now, his face completely blank.
“The police are on their way,” Scarecrow spoke, his voice low. The boy didn’t acknowledge him in any way.
“You don’t want to be here when they arrive, do you?”
After several moments pause, the boy shook his head slowly. He looked numb.
Dissociation, most likely.
“You’ll come with me, then.”
It was a statement, not a question, but he waited for the boy’s response regardless. As soon as he nodded in agreement, Jonathan lifted him up, carrying him out of the cold, miserable alleyway.
Scarecrow paused briefly to warn the Penguin of the incoming officers through the comm he had been given, and then he was off, weaving through the streets and alleyways towards his getaway car.
…
The drive back to his safe house was quiet. The boy didn’t look over at him once, instead opting to stare out ahead of him.
…
Luckily, they were able to make it back without detection. Jonathan ushered the boy into his small apartment, sitting him down on the dingy couch that had come with the lease.
“Wait here, alright?” Jonathan said, the boy nodding once in response.
With that, he retreated into the small kitchen, looking for some sort of warm beverage.
It was nearly three in the morning now, so coffee was out of the question. He was completely out of the hot chocolate he had bought for whenever Eddie or Harley came over for a visit, so that was out too.
He supposed the only option was his chamomile tea. Did teenagers like tea? He supposed it didn’t really matter, the kid was on the run from his parents in the house of a Gotham rogue. Surely he had bigger things to worry about.
Jonathan made the drinks quickly, leaving the kitchen with two mugs in hand. He gave one to the boy, who looked up at him in surprise, before settling into his own seat.
It was an incredibly comfortable old leather armchair that he had gotten some years ago and stubbornly held onto ever since. He usually had one of the rogues he was at least somewhat friendly with pick it up when he entered Arkham.
Whenever Eddie and Harley were over, they would call it his old man chair, and he would tell them to leave.
The two of them sat quietly for a while, drinking their tea slowly. It was clear that the boy was leaving whatever headspace he had slipped into, becoming more alert (and uncomfortable) by the second.
“So,” Crane began, pausing before speaking more quietly when he saw the boy flinch, “you knew them.”
It was not a question.
The boy nodded, curling in on himself. He held the mug close to his chest, no doubt soothed by the warmth.
“They’ve been following me around for some time now,” Crane continued, “and you’re going to tell me why.”
The boy looked up at him, a pained expression written all over his face.
“You won’t believe me,” he murmured, curling up even further.
His clothes were soaked. Jonathan should have put down a towel before letting him sit down.
“Sure I will,” he said, ignoring the blood and water seeping into his furniture.
The landlord would not be happy.
“It’s gonna sound crazy.”
“I’ve been to Arkham.”
The boy paused, before mumbling something quietly.
“Again? I couldn’t hear you.”
“I said,” the boy huffed, quickly changing his tone when he remembered who he was talking to, “they…think you’re a ghost.”
“A ghost,” Crane repeated flatly.
“I told you it was gonna sound crazy!” The boy protested, before wrapping his arms around himself.
“Well,” Jonathan hummed, “it’s not the strangest thing I’ve heard in Gotham. Explain it to me.”
The boy paused, glancing up at his face, no doubt looking for some sign of mockery. He found none.
Then, he opened his mouth, and explained everything he could.
Ghosts, the portal to another world, the GiW, his parents. It was all incredibly far-fetched, but also far too consistent to be made up on the spot, and Crane could tell that the boy genuinely believed what he was saying.
“…but, if you don’t believe me, fine. I know it probably sounds stupid and fake,” he mumbled, looking away.
“I’ll believe you for now,” Crane said. The boy whipped his head up, staring at him in shock.
“If I do trust that what you’re saying is true, though, then why do I show up on their equipment as a ghost? I’m not dead, and never have been.”
“Um,” the boy hummed, looking somewhat nervous. Understandable, really.
“Well, have you by any chance been involved in any lab accidents recently..?”
Jonathan Crane froze, his face dropping. The boy noticed his change in demeanor, flinching slightly.
“Penguin,” he hissed out, his voice slightly inhuman. “Cobblepot, that motherfucker.”
“Wait—calm down! The angrier you get, the easier you’ll show up on the radar!”
Crane glared down at the boy, seething with rage. He once again flinched, looking away from him. With an extraordinary amount of effort, Jonathan slumped back down in his chair, breathing deeply in an effort to calm himself.
When he cracked his eyes back open, the boy was openly staring at him, curiosity written all over his face.
As soon as he noticed Crane looking back at him, he glanced away, straightening in his seat.
“Well, you’ve given me a lot to think about. In the morning, we’re going to discuss this in a lot more detail,” he said, standing up with slow movements. The boy stood as well, hands clasped together.
“For now, though, you’re going to let me take a look at that wound of yours, and then you’re going to take a shower and go to bed.”
The rest of the night went rather quickly.
The boy was rather hesitant to show him his wound, instead assuring him that it had been properly sewn up and that he was fine. Crane was having none of it, though, and gave him a once-over just in case.
It was, very clearly, the kind of cut used during an autopsy. Danny didn’t offer any information, so Crane had to assume that he was either back from the dead, or he had been vivisected. Either was possible in Gotham.
At the very least, Danny hadn’t lied about the stitches, and the wound was already beginning to heal.
With that, Danny showered quickly (he leapt out with a shriek the moment the hot water ran out), and went to bed in borrowed clothes without much complaint.
Thus, Jonathan was left with cold water for his shower, and slept on the still-damp couch so that the boy could have a bed to sleep in. Somehow, he found that he didn’t mind as much as he thought he would.

Finally made my second run at the Quake Badge today. And lookie what I got!
[A selfie. Storm is posing with Pal and Clay, badge in hand. The trainer is drenched, and though grinning wide, her slouched shoulders betray some exhaustion. It seems this battle has taken a lot out of the trainer. A caption has been added, reading “got so sweaty Pal decided I needed an impromptu bath lmao”]
As expected, Pal was a crucial contributor! My Substitute/Nasty Plot plan gave us plenty of firepower to cut through most threats! And Beanie was a major contributor too. Setting up some Sticky Webs made sure we had the advantage this time around, not to mention a clutch Giga Drain or two!
I did it! Finally I have EARNED my PLACE on the team!
Now I’m gonna go eat some celebratory pizza and try to calm down. This has been a stressful evening, tbh
#also Pal you didn’t need to earn anything. you’re on this team. coverage specialist or not#pkmn irl#late‐blooming blueberry arc#{{for the curious: Pal is specced as a Hydro Pump/Stored Power/Nasty Plot/Substitute + Leftovers sweeper}}#{{the idea is the tank hits behind Sub while charging up for powerful attacks}}#{{neither damage move is electric bc the rest of the team covers that in some form}}#{{lifted the build from a monotype guide on smogon}}
