It's cool if this one gets no notes I get it isn't to most people's tastes. ✌ No worries on it.

I'm just writing it down in case I want to look back at it and to share a couple songs. -Songs are in the readmore with the Blorbo Brainrot.

Theres a better longer post going over it a bit more but basically the Devil plays a lot of perfect and complicated strings but it all sounds like garbage/wracket, whereas Johnny plays technically perfect/beautifully and with flair some established songs.

Charlie Daniels also said there was an intent of Johnny putting the light of God into his playing that he wished later he'd actually incorporated into the lyrics. Ymmv on that bit.

Song for reference w/lyrics below - I get most of my followers have heard it before, but in case anyone else was curious that hasn't. I couldn't find any versions with subtitles so I figured I'd put them in the post.

First and most obviously it would be a funny bit as like a one-shot or something to have the Devil G*nd*m Itself achieve consciousness or something and challenge Dom*n. What if W*ng and Ul*be and Mik*mura and M*ster and Mich*lo are the band? Lol. Anyway.

I've been listening to some songs by Appal*chian An*rchy for fun while driving fast (not illegal fast but probably not prudent fast) out here and they have a vibe that goes well with that too.

Now would Chib*dee actually like Bluegrass? Or Bluegrass/Metal Hybrid songs? Probably not. But he might be showing some music to Dom*n or something idk.

AO3 Etiquette -UPDATED

Based on both decent and not so decent replies, I have made some changes to my original post below.

It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:

As well as likes, kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished it, you liked it - so kudos.

If you really liked it, you should try to comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.

No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it (so use your notes to say if you want some constructive feedback). Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. No, posting it online is not an open invitation for that. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity and just want to share. Don't ruin that for them. I've seen so many authors just stop writing coz they can't handle the negative emotions the critism brings, and it's only meant to be a fun thing shared for free (pointing out tagging errors is not included in this).

Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.

There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.

For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.

The tag exception is if you don't want to tag a million things or spoil your story, you can rate it as "chose not to use warnings," and maybe tag the bare minimum.

Don't censor tags. How can someone exclude a tag if the word isn't typed out correctly? There are no content bans for terms so don't censor them.

If the tags are mostly content/trigger warnings, especially if they are things considered very fucked up or graphic, you might want to use "dead dove - do not eat" to ensure people know that you're not messing around with tags and what they get is exactly what you've warned them about.

Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLATONIC, like friendship or family.

Nothing is banned. This is an rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.

People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.

Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite or an exchange youve written for going public). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.

Instead of deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - consider making it anonymous or orphaning it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to your name anymore. If you still want to delete it, fair enough.

It's come to my attention that metaworks ARE allowed on AO3, which is something I wasn't aware of. So if you do post an essay or theory, please tag it as such so others can choose to search for it or exclude it. Art is also allowed.

The only reason this archive works is because NON ONE PROFITS. Do not link to your ko-fi or patreon or mention monetary gain in any way or you violate the terms and risk having your account removed. If anyone does link, it leaves the archive open to people claiming it's for profit and having the whole thing removed.

I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.

I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.

Welcome to all the redditors using Tumblr for the first time! Here's some tips for someone new to the site:

1. There is a daily post limit of 250.

2. The queue can hold 1000 posts.

3. If you're using the mobile app they recently added a read more sign at the bottom when making a post, this is useful for super long posts such as fanfiction and big photo sets or even long analysis posts! But if it's not working for you (god knows this site's features big out regularly) you can type :readmore: on a line by itself and press enter!

4. Speaking of fanfics, fans post both fanart and fanfic on this site so you'll come across both in tags! Along with gifsets, photo sets, music playlists, and character/show analysis.

5. Blocking is used very regularly on here and you can even block anonymous askers and report them to staff if they're harassing you.

6. Don't worry about censoring yourself, like reddit you're free to say fuck here.

7. There is nsfw on the site and some things get struck by the nsfw detection and some things don't, no one on this site knows how it works either but if you use the community tags you'll probably be fine.

8. If someone is being a dick we block them but also we kung pow penis them. This wrecks devastation on their notifications.

9. No one really uses Tumblr live. Almost all of the site just turns it off every week (found in settings).

10. Tags can be very useful for organizing posts! If you man an original post about a thing you like and you would like people to see it you can tag it with the things name. You can also tag reblogs of that thing to keep track of posts about that thing. Tagging a reblogged post will not make it show up in the site's tags, just your blogs tags, so don't worry about your reblog spamming site tags!

11. Oh! Speaking of tags, only the first 5 or 6 really matter, so if you want you post to be seen in a specific tag make sure it's one of the first ones!

12. With pictures you can upload 10 pics to one post on mobile and 30 pics to one post on desktop!

Rules: do’s & don’ts

There is almost no rule for what is or isn't allowed on this blog, we are accepting of basically all and any content. When something is not allowed there is a good reason for it, so please try not to break the rules.

What you can not post

Anything too explicit. Detailed NSFW starters, graphic GIFs or pictures used as decoration and the like. If you really want to share a detailed vision of the scene that will be acted out in the roleplay, send a link to google docs, carrd, another post, etc that people can check out. This is primarily about smut but it applies to gore as well. To be super clear, smut and gore are not banned from the blog, you can request any kink/situation you like, but you will need to discuss the details with your partners. For example, asking for a BDSM roleplay is fine, writing out details of the smut scene in your request is not. This is to avoid possible reports based on the NSFW ban.

Wait 24 hours before submitting again from the moment the ask is posted. You can post ads requesting different RPs, just not the same ask. This is to avoid cluttering.

It goes without saying, this is RP only. You can't send requests for dating or similar.

You can only send ads through asks or submissions. If you need help with those I'll be happy to lend a hand, but don't send your requests via DMs. If the inbox is closed it means it's full/I'm not active, please be patient and, again, don't try to get your ad in through DMs. I won't be able to post your ad from DMs.

What you can post

Generally, anything not mentioned above is allowed. However, since some things get asked often, I will make a general list of things that are allowed for your convenience.

RPF is allowed. 

Discord servers and other groups are allowed. 

Things related to RPing, even if not strictly roleplay-seeking, are allowed. Other roleplay finders, RP resources, and even questions about roleplaying are all allowed. 

Minors are allowed. 

Dead dove content is allowed.

What you should/shouldn't do

Your ask will be published even if you don't abide by these rules. However, keeping this in mind will make for a better experience for everyone involved.

Be as clear as possible about the fandom and other relevant information. I can't tag it if you don't tell me where these blorbos come from. If the fandom has alternate names/acronyms include everything!

If you're going to include more than 20 fandoms in your search, split the post into two separate requests. There's a maximum of 30 tags allowed on a post, out of which only the first 20 will show up in searches. If you include more, the rest will go untagged/will not show up in searches.

Don't censor triggers. It just interferes with people that have these words blocked. Don't write inc*st, write incest.

I am not the police, your parents, or HR. If you have a disagreement with your RP buddy I can't intervene to solve it for you, nor can I put them in time out. This blog is run by the site's document keepers. We will answer any questions you may have about the job, site, company, or ourselves. Please note that any information one of us may give is checked by all four, and some answers may end up censored.

Hello! Welcome to the blog. This is an ask blog featuring the four document keepers of GaleNation, which we'll highlight below. This blog is run by two people, Anguilla^2 (who will be the one most frequently doing the art) and Clelia^2, we'll mention who made the post in tags most likely alongside any characters featured in the posts. The characters in this post, and GaleNation, are part of the lore in the Windscaleverse, you don't have to be part of the Windscale community to make an ask but do keep that in mind. RULES (and other stuff)

Seems pretty calm, considered fairly trustworthy despite his position. Left his son with his strange cousin, maybe not the best choice but at least he has a caretaker! Not sure he really has hobbies; all he does is work and drink coffee.

About GaleNation

GaleNation (pronounced Gal - En - Aytion) is a science company spread out in multiple sites across the continents. They frequently do research relating to diseases, wildlife, the ancient times, and the elements, though they have other subjects as well. The company is viewed as a face of the science community, and it's considered an honor to work in their mixed species environment, however, most employees rarely get to leave their sites and are often not seen by friends and family for long periods of time. The CORE site is the central site for GaleNation, all types of research are done within the site, which also holds higher danger entities and experiments, is the final storage place for documents not being publicly released and has all the top scientists of the company within it. It takes a lot of work to get into the site, but many still strive to reach that goal. MOCK is able to shift our perceptions of each member into a consistent species for ease of communication.

The censoring the character or ship's name all the time was originally a Tumblr's search and tagging system sucking thing. There used to be a pretty well known glitch where posts with a character string "ship" in the body would get lumped into the tag #ship when they weren't actually tagged #ship. So people who wanted to keep their vent post about how "ship sucks" out of the #ship tag would write "sh1p sucks" instead for it to not match and antis picked it up. Not sure if @staff ever fixed that.

Love to find out that someone who blocked me because I was sick of being abused on the downlow by one of her friends made a barely-vague rant post about me specifically, referring to a fandom post that wasn't tagged, where character names were censored, and wasn't even rebloggable—meaning she had to come to my blog intentionally to even see it.

Why the fuck did you block me if you're gonna keep lurking my account for the express purpose of pissing yourself off when I make a point?

It wasn't a flashback, it was a fantasy sequence. It never happened. (And if it did, then so did the one that took place right before it, with another character, because they're framed the exact same way! Since we know that one didn't happen, neither did this one.)

I'm sorry your favorite 'dad friend' character has always been self-righteous, jealous and sanctimonious. This it what makes him interesting. The juxtaposition between his actual behavior and his claims is what makes him compelling!

I'm sorry you can't handle his canon characterization and insist upon literally rewriting everything he's ever said or done in order to "justify" liking him when he's already a lovely, interesting, beautifully tragic character in every appearance he's ever had because he's not actually a good person.

Characters don't need to be good people to be likable! Characters don't need to be good people to be compelling! His struggle in holding up the facade is part of the tragedy—this is his story, and it's a good story!

Characters that insist they are good people usually aren't actually good people, but figuring out why they say those things and how they justify their own behavior is literally how you come to genuinely love a character.

I don't like blocking people because I like to leave avenues of communication open in case they have a change of heart, but I think I'm done with this one.

A fascinating side of tumblr...

Before I started this blog, I was completely unaware of the role playing community on this site. Nobody on here ever mentions it, and I've never stumbled on it by accident. I only know it exists in the first place because members of it keep interacting with my posts.

And while I have no interest in role playing myself, I find these blogs fascinating.

First of all, this community must be huge. I've seen hundreds of these blogs just through the activity feed of this blog.

But by far the wildest part is that this entire community seems to follow the same general design and rules.

For example, many blogs use elaborate designs for their pinned posts that usually contain a bunch of links and rules and whatnot:

And even the role playing posts themselves all follow the same general designs and rules, with little character portraits and stuff:

Do you guys have like... style guides for this stuff, and how on earth did you get everyone to follow all these rules???

And the tags are probably the most elaborate part of this whole sub culture. They're so unique, I can spot them in my activity feed from a mile away.

Like... how do you even get italic tags???

This low fidelity, monotone color aesthetic also seems quite popular with this community:

It's so widespread and consistent, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody wrote a program with the sole purpose of making these pictures and then handed it out to everyone in the community.

As an outside observer, all of this is both fascinating and slightly terrifying. Just the amount of time and effort that must go into all of this...

And just to clarify a few things:

This is in no way supposed to make fun of the people running these blogs. I love seeing odd little corners of the internet filled with passionate people who are just doing their thing.

I censored all the names and didn't credit any of the screenshots, because these role players seem like a pretty private bunch and I don't want to put a huge spotlight on any individuals.

A few tips for new Tumblr users wanting to write here

Yo if you're here from Reddit or Twitter or some other site and just wanted to give this a shot you may have seen some blogs that are dedicated to writing headcanons or short fics or even original works for their own OCs and you may be thinking "hey I wanna give that a shot! I like to write!" then I have some tips to make it easier on you and people who see your content.

1. First off, if you're writing a pretty long piece the you should probably put it under a read more, it'll look like this on mobile

and this on desktop

or you can write :readmore: on a line by itself and press enter.

2. Now if you're gonna write for a whole bunch of different fandoms and you wanna make a master list then I suggest making an actual list with the fandoms you write for and then making more lists with the actual content as a you go along because you can only have 100 links in one post (I know that sounds like a lot but as someone who has around 300 Transformers things written trust me you fill up a post quicker than you expect, especially if you take requests from other people). The way I typically do it is like this

The first pic is the MASTER master list that lists everything I write for and when they're underlined like that it means they're links. The second pic is after clicking the G1 link, it's a separate post that has the actual fics and headcanon links. Note the 6/100 in the tags, this is how I keep up with how many things I've added. You can of course just use the numbers options from here

or just number them manually from your keyboard like I'm doing with this post. Adding links has no barring on what else you add to the post so you can add yourself some fancy header or divider pics if you want.

3. Adding links! Links can look like this https://www.tumblr.com/wingwaver/721887224846778368/test-post-for-reasons?source=share or like this https://wingwaver.tumblr.com/post/721887224846778368/test-post-for-reasons depending on whether you're linking from mobile or desktop/browser Just highlight the text you wanna add a link to and a the little chain will move to the end, click it and paste your url you want to link to and press add link, then press post/save draft/save (whatever the blue button says)

Now you've successfully linked a post to another post!

4. Tagging! To get your fics and headcanons seen to build an audience you usually wanna tag the stuff correctly. If you're posting a fic about Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney then you'll tag it with #Ace Attorney, #Miles Edgeworth, and #Phoenix Wright in the tags area. But it's also a good idea to mention if it's a ship or general fic in the tags too. If so then putting ship names and #Miles Edgeworth x Phoenix Wright and #Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright in the tags will help everyone know this is a ship fic. Tagging with characters or fandoms that aren't apart of the fic just clogs the tags for people looking for content of said characters and fandoms so it's very looked down on here and will likely get some of your stuff reported for spam so only use the relevant tags. Also tagging for triggers can be tricky here because of how fucky tumblr is but please don't tag censor tags. Tagging things like #a**** or #a*use or even #abu$e doesn't work here because people who have #abuse blacklisted will be able to see this content because it wasn't tagged properly. Also if you're writing for OCs or reader inserts it's common courtesy to tag those appropriately too. Someone looking for a reader insert may not want to read an OC and vice versa. Also many people filter those out so try to add tags like #x reader, #*fandom name* x reader, and #*character name* x reader for easier filtering. Also people cruise those tags too so it'll help people who fo want to read that content find your stuff!
