Hallow hesitated, but Ghost thrust out a hand and blasted out a Shade Soul, startling the Shades into dispersing. Instead of eliciting a response, though, the spell only sank into the massive body. Undaunted, Ghost swam up and cast Descending Dark directly into the Lord of Shades’ face. “I was thinking of Soul spell, actually,” Nox remarked after the fourth time Ghost slammed their other half of soul’s face without result.

Joyce screamed when Will stumbled into the house behind a panicked Lucas, and Dustin and El holding him up. He was so heavy on his feet that he could feel El using her powers to keep him standing. They’d rushed him to the hospital and he’d spent the next two days there. The doctor said he was lucky he wouldn’t have to have reconstruction surgery on his cheekbone. Will laughed at him, and it came pouring out of his mouth bitter and deranged sounding. His mother apologized for him and blamed the pain medicine. Lucky.  That had to be some kind of sick joke.

Inuyasha crying at Kikyou's final death is very moving but I think it's important to remember that by his own admission, he would not have been able to cry for her, before. It's only thanks to Kagome that he feels comfortable enough with himself to cry at all and show vulnerability to others. That's what really makes that moment beautiful to me. (Though in a bittersweet way, obviously.)

I also want to focus on the "What true strength and kindness is" line because to me this implies Kagome is the paragon of strength and kindness that Inuyasha wanted to model himself after. Obviously we all know that potential was already in him and Kagome coaxed it out and praised it from him, but I think it's really beautiful to hear Inuyasha thought of Kagome as his role model, in a way. After all, being brave in order to help people WAS one of the first compliments Inuyasha ever admitted to himself about her.

My heart goes out to everyone finally figuring out that we aren't getting the death worm this season, I am really excited to see it animated too. But tbh there was never any way it would fit

Like think about everything that happens in the cursed house arc. There is SO MUCH there that I personally think just the death worm stuff is going to be 5-6 episodes on it's own to get through it. They didn't have enough episodes left even if they completely skipped the serpo arc.

Personally I've always figured the episodes are gonna shake out like this:

Ep 8 - shenanigans with Okarun/Aira and getting in to empty space (I was right! though I wasn't sure we'd get to Acro Aira but in hindsight that's a perfect cliffhanger cut point)

Ep 9 - the fight, probably ending with the big final blow

Ep 10 - public humiliation and mr. shrimp joins the team, Jiji appears at the end!

Ep 11 - Jiji is actually introduced and goes to school with them, ending with Taro appearing "chasing" Okarun

Ep 12 - anatomical dummies shenanigans and a sort of cliffhanger teasing the cursed house arc next season

I think people forget that it takes seconds to read a fight scene when it's just a few sequential images but several MINUTES to show that same fight scene animated. The Serpo arc is largely action, so it's no suprise it's taking a couple episodes. Also dialogue! Dialogue takes longer to voice act than it does to read. There's only so much you can fit into like, 25 mins

Cornered (Chapter 9)

Word Count: 1,185 Setting: TYL Relationship: 1859 Summary: After their agreement, Hibari didn't expect to get the late night text that he did from Gokudera.

Hibari had left that night and gone about his day as always, pushing the thought from his mind as he hadn't expected the other to take him up on the offer. Was he admitting he found the Storm attractive enough to sleep with him? Yes, but that was between them, it was no one else's business if anything did start between the two of them. He actually expected Gokudera to not respond when he's brought up the proposition and just left his phone on at all times just in case he ever did call. Hibari was a healthy young man with a healthy sexual appetite anyhow, therefore it didn't matter what time of night, he would probably be in the mood anyhow. But at least he would know if Gokudera slept with him then he was safe. That was all this was, an effort to keep the reckless Storm from getting in over his head with an STD or worse. Hibari would tell himself that but once again he found himself sitting in that bar waiting for a message he wasn't sure would even come. Sometimes he feared it would be too late for Gokudera or rather Hibari would arrive too late.

He didn't want to think about what he'd do if anyone dare put their hands on Gokudera, but at the same time it was a little fun to indulge in his violent fantasies, things he'd never let the Storm find out he thought of. What Hibari thought of and what he actually acted on were and would always be two different things and one of those things could scare Gokudera away from him and if Hibari was being honest with himself that was the last thing he wanted, he was starting to grow fond of the Storm's presence which said a lot of a man who was known for being solitary and aloof. It scared the living hell out of him to think for once he was starting to crave the presence of another. Perhaps the Cloud wasn't so solitary after all, or maybe he'd been alone for a little too long and couldn't take it much more. A man can only handle so much by himself, and there was no shame in admitting he did need someone to be close with him.

For many it would seem romance was off the table for the Vongola guardians as plenty of women were rejected by them day in and day out. However it wasn't. They were just highly cautious of who they trusted enough to get close to and develop a relationship with. As some of them tried to keep away from attachment in the event one of them did die on a mission, it would be easier to not leave anyone special behind, or if that special someone was just as involved in the underground it would be much easier as they'd already have a hardened heart from the lifestyle to begin with. That meant the Vongola men didn't have too many options.

Hibari had warned Gokudera about seeking out prostitutes as some of them were only after money and could try to kill him and rob him. Some might not have been tested for STDs and could be carrying something so at the least he should use protection. Hibari didn't care who Gokudera was sleeping with, as long as he was safe. At least that's what he tried to convince himself. Lately however, he was starting to wonder if that's all this was. Why would he go to such lengths if he just wanted the other safe? There was no way he was getting jealous, was there? Why would he be jealous when he wasn't even attracted to him? That was where the problem was, Hibari was very much attracted to Gokudera, he just wasn't ready to admit it.

Homosexuality wasn't something many men were open to talking about even when they were gay, especially in Japan. And with the reputation Hibari had to uphold, the last thing he was going to do was mix his private life with work. However that's where things were starting to get a bit complicated. The longer he was around the Storm guardian the more a cold hard fact stared him in the face and the longer it stared, the harder it got to ignore it. Hibari was falling for Gokudera even if he would let himself die before admitting it.

He knew the club didn't close until almost six in the morning, but it wasn't like Hibari was the type for loud music and a drunk crowd. Paying for his drinks he went to leave until he got an emergency text.

[From Gokudera]: Get here now, I need you.

A quick reply along the lines of "on my way" was all Hibari had to send as he paid for his drinks and walked outside, firing up his motorcycle and heading straight to Gokudera's apartment via the directions from the GPS in the other man's phone. Why was he so quick to answer when it was Gokudera? He tried to push that answer out of his mind as he parked the bike and shut it off, walking up to the door of the apartment and knocking.

"It's me, open up." was all he could get out as he patiently waited by the door for Gokudera to unlock it and let him in.

Hibari wasn't certain what had come over him, neither was the very shocked Storm guardian when he found himself backed against the now closed behind him, Hibari kissing him deeply as if he'd been waiting for this for days.

Sure enough, the Storm hadn't been kidding. Three in the morning, and he was drunk. However something was different about it this time. He was with Hibari, kissing him, his heart was racing and he didn't feel trapped, he didn't feel cornered this time. For once Gokudera felt safe and comfortable, something he hadn't thought any man could ever make him feel again.

Gokudera realized as Hibari locked the door behind them that whatever this was between them, he was really starting to like it. As things started heating up and hands started travelling it was Hibari who questioned now. He wasn't going to do anything that Gokudera didn't want or wasn't quite ready for yet. Which left him with one small but very important question for the other guardian.

"You don't have any condoms here do you?" If Gokudera wasn't prepared then they could wait long enough to run to a late night store and pick up some, surely. Hibari's jaw almost dropped as he heard the response so clearly and quickly.

"In my sock drawer underneath the pile."

Hibari grinned and kissed down Gokudera's neck. "Do you have coffee and the day off from work tomorrow? We might need both."

Gokudera moaned at the kiss and reached up running his fingers through Hibari's hair, indeed they'd need the coffee tomorrow for sure if things kept going the rate they were. "Yes, I have both."

And that was really all Hibari needed to hear.
