It's like we all collectively forgot as a society that friendship and just connection in general takes effort. Even if you meet someone you immediately click with, it takes hanging out about 20 times (!) to become friends. And guess what, some of those 20 meetings might be awkward or unimpressive.
We all want to reap the benefits (having a friend circle, having a partner, getting married) without doing the work (going to events, interacting with people, learning to handle conflict maturely, dating). Myself included. If I could, I'd never leave the house or go on another mediocre date again... except, that's part of the process.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, the cure to the loneliness epidemic is touching some grass and building tolerance for tedious in-person interactions.

I love people who craft and I love learning about other people's crafts because every single one is full of little things that non-practitioners wouldn't notice but others in the craft RAVE about.
Like, I'm a knitter, and before I started I couldn't tell a knit fabric from a crocheted one, and I mostly would appreciate pretty color choices and overall patterns. But now I drool over perfectly uniform stockinette or a good stretchy bind off, and don't even start me on neat floats on the back of fair isle!
Quilters will talk about the binding and stitch choice on a finished quilt, ceramics artists will gush over how a glaze turned out, embroiderers will sigh at perfectly smooth satin stitch, and a woodworker can spot a good join from a mile away.
There is so much more beauty and artistry in the world than we can see on our own.

GO Season 3
I feel a massive surge of relief at the news GO3 has been halted. I didn't even realise I was carrying so much stress over it.
I'll be blunt here:
Season Three continuing as normal was the worst possible scenario.
Best scenario would be That Person ejected as showrunner and being exiled from SFF and the media industry forever, while GO continues in new hands.
But being cancelled is second best.
This is what continuing as nothing would do:
It would send a massive fuck-you to the specific survivors of That Person's abuse and abuse in general
It would send a massive message to NG and other powerful men that they can rape, abuse and exploit with impunity as long as they make things people like. That everyone is still happy to work with them.
The stakes are much bigger than one production. The stakes are whether we promote and support rape culture in the media, or oppose it.
We don't get to be rape apologists just because we want to see Crowley and Aziraphale kiss onscreen.
Are you mad that S3 is in doubt? Great.
Get mad at rapists and rape culture and misogyny and the world they have given us.

It's been nearly two weeks (somehow) since this monstrosity of a quilt was finally finished, and I wasn't able to get the BEST photos of it (it was too big and too heavy to hang up how I'd planned...) but here are the fullest and best examples of the final result..!
In regular light, with blacklight on, and the glow charged with the lights OFF!
This thing was... a journey, and one hell of a learning experience, but I'm overall happy with how it turned out. I am also very, VERY glad to be done with it lol
